Dudette, yes,”perfect.” Everytime that I see them together, I think of Uncle Teddy and Vickie. I do believe that Sen. Kennedy would be so happy to see PBO and Bo together in the Oval Office and just hanging out together. There is a photo where Uncle Teddy and Vickie are at the WhiteHouse visiting and Uncle Teddy is touching Bo so beautifully just like PBO is doing in this photo.

I believe that PBO often thinks of Sen. Kennedy when he sees Bo. I really do believe that. What a perfect gift to our First Family from Sen. Kennedy and Mrs. Kennedy. I also hope that Mrs. Kennedy is doing well. We love her.HZ

Cantor: House will continue attacking health law if Supreme Court doesn’t kill it

    By Pete Kasperowicz
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said the House would continue to press for repeal of the 2010 healthcare law if the Supreme Court allows it to live on.

“If the court does not strike down the bill in its entirely, the gentleman knows, our conference is fully committed to repeal โ€” total repeal โ€”ย of the ObamaCare bill,” Cantor said on the House floor in a discussion with House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.). “In July, we will continue to focus on that bill and its impact on employers.”

What if this, what if that? Good grief!

Hahahaha…guess he didn’t get the memo from Boehner today huh? Boehner said whatever the outcome of the SC’s decision, the GOP shouldn’t spike the football. Now we know who’s really controlling the GOP and it ain’t Boehner.

So, in short, Republican leadership is not prepared to abide by the will of the majority of the electorate (2008 election or even 2010 when they won to focus on JOBS), NOR by the ruling of the SC, If it doesn’t give the answer they demand. Republican democracy in plain view!

Pamela, IMO the really sad thing is it’s not really over until /and if/ they get voted out, because all they have to do is sabotage the works exactly as they’ve been doing for the last 3+ years . I can’t have my way, so the country can just implode little by little until I can. No one holds them accountable, it seems, until the next election IF VOTERS ARE FED UP enough.

    • 69 jackiegrumbacher
      June 21, 2012 at 9:26 pm

This is all a PR dance. He and his “conference” can blather all they want about repealing health care, but anything they come up with still has to pass the senate and then overcome a guaranteed veto. They would be running out the clock so they don’t have to deal with jobs.

Hello everyone, I was sitting here a few minutes ago doing some work and vaguely listening to Mitt on the maddow show. Mitt’s speech at the Latino event today. Please listen carefully and you will hear Mitt pick up some words using some words from PBO speech at the Dems convention in 2004 where he talked about his parents. Maybe I am just nuts, but I hope someone else will listen and see if you pick up what I picked up.

People around here are still laughing at his feeble attempts to be folksy on his PA bus trip.

Via BBC, I watched a teann vid where some middle schoolers were harassing and bullying an elderly lady in their school bus. The teann lady was all acting poutraged over the ‘hideous and unspeakable things they said to this lady’. Really, teann lady ? After your types mainstream the foul language and garbage that spew out of rightwingers 24×7 and the uncontrolled cable news and talk radio junk that fill the air 24×7, you act all red-in-the-face and veins-popping on a buncha kids over bullying ? On Immigration, Romney Needs a Time Machine, Not an Etch-a-Sketch

    by Pili Tobar on 04/16/2012

During the primary campaign, Romney pledged to veto the DREAM Act, which would provide a path to citizenship for the children of undocumented immigrants who attend college; promoted the ugly notion of โ€œself-deportation,โ€ a radical right strategy that aims to purge America of the 11 million undocumented immigrants in our country; and praised Arizonaโ€™s anti-immigration laws as a โ€œmodel for the nation.โ€ Romney also trumpeted the endorsements of an array of anti-immigrant standard-bearers, from Kris Kobach to Lamar Smith to Jan Brewer to Pete Wilson.

However, Romney clearly believes that Latino voters either werenโ€™t paying attention or will believe him when he makes his โ€œconversionโ€ to a more moderate stance on immigration. As NBC News reported on this weekendโ€™s Florida fundraiser, โ€œPredicting that immigration would become a much larger issue in the fall campaign, Romney told his audience, โ€˜We have to get Hispanic voters to vote for our party,โ€™ warning that recent polling showing Hispanics breaking in huge percentages for President Obama โ€˜spells doom for us.โ€™ Romney said the GOP must offer its own policies to woo Hispanics, including a โ€˜Republican DREAM Act,โ€™ referring to the legislative proposal favored by Democrats that would offer illegal immigrants a limited path to citizenship, to give Hispanic voters a real choice between parties.โ€

Chips, I’d grab this LunarSea offer if I were you – a masseuse and butleress! Kinda like when you make a suggestion to improve things at work and the boss crows ‘what a great idea!’ and asks you to implement it.

          • June 21, 2012 at 10:22 pm

Oh crikey VC, I had a moment a little like that today with my boss – who I’m lucky enough to only ever have to deal with by phone. I made half a suggestion that would have required me actually working for my living, hoping he’d say “na”, but he said “hmm, let me think about that”. I wept. PS The masseuse and butleress idea sounds fab!

Makes you think again about the adage ‘Silence is golden’, doesn’t it? Is the boss a slow thinker? If yes, he might forget; unless of course it’s something you’d enjoy doing. Of course, IMO you do enough volunteer TOD work for three or four people, so by my convoluted reasoning you are working for a living – the world’s.

re the massage and wine, as it was her idea, just let LunarSea know when you are ready for your first session. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi, TOD family – I’m quite posibly the world’s worst fundraiser. Finding myselft chronically short of cash, I always hesitate to ask for donations. But this is for our President and “normal” doesn’t apply. I am making an appeal to other TODers who may not be able to make larger donations – hence the pitch for $3.00. Every dollar counts. And every dollar represents a tiny piece of the campaign. So if you can, please donate to any of the TOD fundraisers. Here is the link – I hope it works.

    1) Senate Fails to Beat Filibuster on DREAM Act – DECEMBER 19, 2010

This morning, in a procedural vote requiring 60 votes to advance the legislation, the U.S. Senate voted for the DREAM Act by a 55-41 margin, effectively shutting the doors of opportunity to thousands of bright and talented young people who grew up in America and wanted to give back to the country they call home.

The following is a statement from Frank Sharry, Executive Director of Americaโ€™s Voice:

โ€œToday we won a majority of votes in the Senate. Last week we won a majority of the votes in the House. BUT BECAUSE OF A REPUBLICAN FILIBUSTER WE NEEDED 60 VOTES TO PASS DREAM AND WE FELL SHORT.

    2) Excerpt Mitt Romney speech at NALEO – JUNE 21, 2012

Unfortunately, despite his promises, President Obama has failed to address immigration reform.

For two years, this President had huge majorities in the House and Senate – he was free to pursue any policy he pleased. But he did nothing to advance a permanent fix for our broken immigration system. Nothing. Instead, he failed to act until facing a tough re-election and trying to secure your vote.

Last week, the President finally offered a temporary measure. He called it a stopgap measure that he seems to think will be just enough to get him through the election. After three and a half years of putting every issue from loan guarantees for his donors to Cash For Clunkers before immigration, now the President has been seized by an overwhelming need to do what he could have done on Day One. But didn’t. I think you deserve better.

She wasn’t doom and gloom, she said we should be cautious of possible headwinds over summer, but barring that, PBO and the campaign are doing a good job with immigration and Willbot and that though some swing states have unemployment going Dow, people are gonna also look at national numbers. She said PBO and campaign will Taylor their message to each swing state. She was fine in my opinion, just being realistic. If there are no economic headwinds over summer, PBO will be fine. If the opposite happens, this will make it a touch harder.

    Sully gets it:

    One Party Is Unhinged

Or, rather, it is living in an alternative reality. 63 percent of Republicans in a new poll believe that Saddam Hussein had WMDs when we invaded in 2003, despite even George W. Bushโ€™s acknowledgment that he didnโ€™t. 64 percent also believe that Barack Obama was born in a foreign country, even though we have the long-form birth certificate from Hawaii. This alternate reality is sustained by a 24 hour propaganda network, and hermetically sealed off from any external intervention.

We are reaching a democratic crisis of some sorts. One major political party refuses to accept empirical truths. It has become a hall of ideological mirrors.

Here’s some good input for an OFA campaign ad:

California Rep. Darrell Issa is already eyeing a massive expansion of oversight for next year, including hundreds of hearings; creating new subcommittees; and launching fresh investigations into the bank bailout, the stimulus and, potentially, health care reform.

Issa told POLITICO in an interview that he wants each of his seven subcommittees to hold โ€œone or two hearings each week.โ€

โ€œI want seven hearings a week, times 40 weeks,โ€ Issa said.

        Republican Job Creation

5-23-2012: Say it with me now: “The House is in recess until the 30th of May. Must be nice to have so many vacations. Oh, how I hate those indolent GOP swine.”

6-1-2012: Another day, another abortion bill. This time the “Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act.” Which was designed to stop abortions based on sex or race. Seriously. It failed. Apart from that bit of nonsense the day was one long last-minute rush to pass bills that pay the bills. No jobs were created.

6-4-2012: Last Friday three Democratic (Hahn, Kaptur, Tonko) amendments to increase funding for energy efficiency and renewable energy failed, while three Republican (Hultgren, Chaffetz, McClintock) amendments to reduce funding of energy efficiency and renewable energy also failed. No jobs were created.

6-6-2012: The House was not in session on Monday but on Tuesday it spent the day amending water and energy bills, mostly shuffling money from one account to another. It was not a job creating event.

6-8-2012: The House passed a bill to repeal a new exise tax on medical devices. The GOP refers to this as a “jobs bill”. Another waste of time as the Senate will not consider the bill.

In the meantime the GOP is still losing its shit over lightbulbs, voting to restrict funding for the application of energy-efficient lighting (Which the GOP evidently believes are manufactured in Hell itself.) Job creation was not in evidence.

6-11-2012: On Friday the House voted to cut funding for Open World Leadership Center, the Congressional Research Service, and the Washington Botanic Garden. But, on the bright side, they voted themselves funds to print some snazzy new pocket-sized editions of the U.S. Constitution to hand out to constituents. As always, no jobs were created.

The House is in recess until the 18th of June.

Darrell Issa, the congressman about to make life more difficult for President Obama, has had some troubles of his own.

    by Ryan Lizza – January 24, 2011

A few days before Christmas, the mood in Representative Darrell Issaโ€™s office was jovial. Outside, the hallways were filled with the Houseโ€™s equivalent of scalps: wooden pallets piled high with shrink-wrapped boxes belonging to defeated or retiring Democrats. Inside, some of Issaโ€™s closest advisers sat around talking trash. Issa, a six-term California Republican, had recently been elected chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which, according to House rules, โ€œmay at any time conduct investigations of any matter.โ€ Now that he had been given the power to subpoena, investigate, and harass the Obama Administration, Issa was being described as a future leader of his partyโ€”and the man most likely to weaken the President before the 2012 election.

Hmmmmmm, twitter said they had a cascading bug to fix. This account says a group is claiming it was hacked:

Twitter’s statements came after UgNazi – an emerging hacker outfit that recently gained publicity for breaking into Cloudflare chief executive Matthew Prince’s personal Google email account – claimed credit for the service disruption in an email to Reuters, saying it launched a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack against Twitter because of the company’s support for the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act.

One security professional said the group probably used a DDoS-for-hire site to launch an attack against Twitter on Thursday, but downplayed the likelihood the group was solely responsible for bringing down the social media network.

“It was mere coincidence,” the security professional said. “The backend of Twitter is having issues, which is unrelated to the very small attack.”

The First Lady is leading the US Delegation. Personally, the fact that Willard is now saying he’s too busy campaigning to head to the Olympics sounds like someone got a talking to about upstaging the First Lady (either David Cameron was forced to withdraw the invitation to Willard and promise him some dedicated alone time later on, or Willard himself was told it would be uncouth to try and hog the spotlight when the spotlight should be on the US Team).

Perhaps the President’s statement in Los Cabos about there being “one administration at a time” reminded his operatives about some protocol……I doubt it, but someone, somewhere told him this is not right, because he could never figure that out on his own. Neither President Obama nor McCain or their wives attended the Beijing Olympics in 2008. They, very smartly, let GWB have all the publicity himself! Remember?

Issa SPECIFICALLY asked AG Holder to break the law. He has insisted that Holder turn over things that would be ILLEGAL for AG Holder to reveal, just to give Issa what he wants.

My question: Does anyone see anything here that would show that Issa, as a sworn member of Congress, has broken the law himself and therefore constitutes a dereliction of his sworn duties and oath? HE should be the one getting the book thrown at him, and the one that shold step down from the head of this committee.

LunarSea! How coincidental, but I’ve been listening to Stevie Nicks, and Fleetwood Mac plus other videos all evening. I’ve seen 2 or 3 versions with Stievie, Dixie Chicks and Glee. These kids sing it more like Stevie Nicks and less upbeat like Dixie Chicks or Glee. I have always loved this song. Music is truly the universal language which connects us all. It was great to see a version live with Stevie on the Today show from 2005. The audience outside the studio was mixed with all ages, colors and I suspect folks from all spectrums of the musical universe. Most knew the words and looked so moved. Anyway beddie time now, but thank for this version. I saved it because these kids did a wonderful job!

I love them, I love them, I love them! The Ladies are back in the House!

For the record men donโ€™t have one. They talk a great deal about them and pass a whole lot of legislation pertaining to them, but at the end of the day they have a wee wee not a hoo hoo. Newt Gingrich has cheated on at least two vaginas that I know of, but I think he refers to them as ex-boxes. Rush Limbaugh hates vaginas, but rumor has it he smuggles Oxycontin in his maidโ€™s vagina so I guess he just calls it a pill box. Mitt Romney used to call them vaginas and actually gave them all the rights and privileges afforded to them under the law but now he simply refers to them as votes he has alienated.

so many reasons for the rethugs to target the justice dept! everybody remember warren jeffs, the sleazeball leader of a rogue lds cult , who was convicted of forcing sex on his child brides? well, he’s back in the news, with a new doj lawsuit. he’s in prison, but still directing his whacko followers.

must be a tad bit embarrassing for poor robme to keep explaining that true mormons don’t have harems anymore–sort of reminds folks of his old granddad running off to mexico with his multiple wives. hildale is pretty far from the big rethug meeting in park city, but it’s all utah, and i’m sure it’s uncomfortably close for robme’s comfort.

I agree 100% FLOTUS, I still remember the wonderful teachers in my life. And then to think that someone like Mitt Romney want to put these people down like they don’t count. That is the same way Romney felt about those workers he fired and lefted them with nothing as he and his buddies at Bain Capital walked away rich. I think of how the other day when she was in Colorado, our FLOTUS thank the fire fighters for the hard work they were doing in trying to put out that fire. While Mitt Romney says we don’t need any more teachers, policemen, fire fighters. No what we don’t need is more of these sorry ass Republicans who is willing to destroy this country just so they can get back in power.

Here is one reason why I am proud of the man I support for President of the United States, because I believe if he had to work with the Republican Party ( And he really tried ) to get this country back on track, to put the middle class and poor back to work, to give them a chance of that American dream, President Obama would have done what was best for the people. He wouldn’t have been plotting, sabotaging, obstructing just so he could get back in power. I ask the question, who really love this country, those who are willing to see it go under, to see it’s people suffer so they can have power, or the one (POTUS) who have been working his tail off to get this country going in the right direction.

A new Obama campaign web video casts a spotlight on the fact that, for seven days, Mitt Romney has avoided giving a definitive answer about whether he would repeal President Obama’s order suspending the deportation of young illegal immigrants.

The former governor has only said publicly that he would work to replace Obama’s temporary measure with some sort of permanent solution, the details of which he has not fully or clearly articulated.

“On Friday the president announced a change to U.S. immigration policyโ€ฆ Ever since, Mitt Romney has been dodging questions about repealing the order,” the Obama video says.

The Washington Post’s Tom Hamburger reports on the next front of the Bain Capital debate:

During the nearly 15 years that Romney was actively involved in running Bain, a private equity firm that he founded, it owned companies that were pioneers in the practice of shipping work from the United States to overseas call centers and factories making computer components, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

While economists debate whether the massive outsourcing of American jobs over the last generation was inevitable, Romney in recent months has lamented the toll itโ€™s taken on the U.S. economy. He has repeatedly pledged he would protect American employment by getting tough on China. …

[A] Washington Post examination of securities filings shows the extent of Bainโ€™s investment in firms that specialized in helping other companies move or expand operations overseas. While Bain was not the largest player in the outsourcing field, the private equity firm was involved early on, at a time when the departure of jobs from the United States was beginning to accelerate and new companies were emerging as handmaidens to this outflow of employment.

Question——I see UT’s excellent tweets, and I caught a bit of it myself—–re. Gov. O’Malley on MJ saying the Repubs are trying to buy the election (with 15-20 billionaires) and the big money Dems are whining and punishing Obama for whatever—–not making everything perfect and Repubs agreeable sweetie pies, I guess—–and that they need to step up to the plate—-NOW—–need to fight fire with fire.
Who are these big money Dems who have donated in the past who are holding back now? Who are the targets of this message from O’Malley and other Dem strategists? Who are these people who have the means to make a diff and are willing to jeopardize this country for some self-interested gripe???

Today Show saying we are hearing about first daughters more and more—–that President Obama and First Lady are mentioning daughters more and more in their appearances. Asking if it is a political calculation, appealing to women voters. Someone saying his daughters “humanize” President Obama as the media continues to try to make Obama cold and aloof, blocking out all the warmth in his appearances from their minds. Balanced out report by showing the 5 Willard progeny on Conan and Palin using her kids, especially the baby, as props. As if the Obamas had any commonality with those 2 families.
