Before Roe v Wade women with money (they didn’t have to be wealthy-just have $400-500) could get any willing doctor to perform a DNC. Women without funds (poor whites and poor minorities) ended up in back alleys. I have no idea how much a doctor will charge a woman to have an abortion today. But I’d bet my last dollar, that there are doctors who are willing to perform the procedure right here in the good old USA for the right price. Poor women will still end up in the back alleys.

I remember the backalley coathangers too. The wealthy girls got taken out of the country for abortions, the middle class girls got sent to an “aunt” for the duration, the poor ones got torn up by the back alley abortionists. Is this really what people want to return to?????

Unfortunately, people who don’t remember that happening around the country think it’s a scary myth. That was life in the ’50s and earlier, for some women and girls. Way back in the 20th century. Of course, these Rs need to be brought kicking and screaming into the 19th century. There’s that.

    RUh OH

An adviser to Mitt Romney confirmed an earlier report that the campaign is not seriously vetting Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, the Washington Post reports.

ABC News reported earlier Tuesday that the Romney campaign had not requested any documents from Rubio or asked him to fill out any questionnaires. An outside Romney adviser confirmed to the account to the Post, leaving on the table the idea that Rubio could be more seriously considered at a later date.

A second adviser who works directly for the campaign also confirmed to the Post that the campaign had only conducted a preliminary review of Rubio.

Before the Post’s confirmation, Republican pundit and Rubio ally Ana Navarro suggested the leak came from the Romney campaign and told BuzzFeed it was a bad move:

“The bottom line is someone in Romney campaign spoke out of turn,” she said. “Whether it’s true or false, who knows. But it sure was dumb. It’s going [to] take ‘em off their messaging for the day/bus tour and they’re gonna have to do some damage control. They unnecessarily dissed a very popular figure of the conservative base and the most prominent Hispanic Republican. Romney has nothing to gain from this.

I guess until the weeds get use to their new name, they’re just gonna grow where ever they darn well please. Weeds, maybe if I put them in fancy pots, they’d restrain themselves. Then there’s the washing of the pool that’s been stored away, blowing up the pool with this hand and foot held pump, gotta place the pool on a completely level surface, fill it with 508,943 gallons of water. What the hay…I think we’ll go to the water park later.

Political take today is the pic of the Robme’s above is just plain ol’ Mittiful. We got this, PBO has a path to re-election without Florida or Ohio via Colorado and Nevada. don’t pay any attention to the horse race that may seem close. Mitt doesn’t have the demographics, can’t get The Blahs, Latinos, women, or the younger educated populations. We just have to get them to the polls.

Obama’s Lawyer Demands Information on Group’s Donors
    By MICHAEL D. SHEAR
The lawyer for President Obama demanded on Tuesday that Crossroads GPS disclose its donors, saying in a complaint to the Federal Election Commission that the group is plainly a “political committee” subject to federal reporting requirements.

In the complaint, obtained by The New York Times, Robert F. Bauer, the campaign’s chief counsel, writes that the group — founded by Karl Rove, among others — can no longer shield the identity of its donors by defining itself as a “social welfare” organization.

“Crossroads seems to believe that it can run out the clock and spend massive sums of money in this election without accounting for a trace of its funding,” Mr. Bauer wrote in the complaint, filed Tuesday. “Now, a federal appellate court has issued a ruling that makes clear that Crossroads is out of time.”

The case Mr. Bauer cites is “Real Truth About Obama v. FEC,” in which the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit ruled that the government must determine the “major purpose” of groups like Crossroads.

Both also have a much needed sense of humor. (because they’re both smart) I hope msnbc sees my hot tip and takes advantage of it—-I can’t believe they are even considering S.E. It’s fine to not pick him for the same reason they won’t be picking Christie—don’t want to have #2 overshadowing #1- but really? They confirmed to the WashPo that they are not vetting him, and the ones they are vetting are Portman, Ryan, Pawlenty, and Jindal. The kicker is that they ONLY confirmed Rubio, as someone they were not seriously vetting. It’s like yeah it could be any person really- but it ain’t gonna be Rubio. This should help him with the Jeb Bush’s of the world.

    • June 19, 2012 at 4:17 pm

None of those VP selections, are of Any consequence.

    • June 19, 2012 at 4:30 pm

I’m still a tad skeptical of that news—-it could be a big trick, altho I don’t think Willard is that clever. And it may be that Rubio has already been vetted——if they’re still bothering with that in the Repub Party—-sorta skipped that step with Palin—–and found too many issues ripe for the pickin’s. Rubio has a bunch of problem areas. And it may be as simple as everyone and their brother have noted—–Romney would look extra dull and old next to the younger and more attractive Rubio. Rubio would steal the spotlight, he and his former Dolphins cheerleader wife—-no one at all would care about Willard and Miss Ann. Or their fancy horse.

The United States and Israel jointly developed a sophisticated computer virus nicknamed Flame that collected critical intelligence in preparation for cyber-sabotage attacks aimed at slowing Iran’s ability to develop a nuclear weapon, according to Western officials with knowledge of the effort.

The massive piece of malware was designed to secretly map Iran’s computer networks and monitor the computers of Iranian officials, sending back a steady stream of intelligence used to enable an ongoing cyberwarfare campaign, according to the officials

Iran’s quest to possess nuclear technology: Iran said it has made advances in nuclear technology, citing new uranium enrichment centrifuges and domestically made reactor fuel

The effort, involving the National Security Agency, the CIA and Israel’s military, has included the use of destructive software such as the so-called Stuxnet virus to cause malfunctions in Iran’s nuclear enrichment equipment.

The emerging details about Flame provide new clues about what is believed to be the first sustained campaign of cyber-sabotage against an adversary of the United States.

    G20: Important steps imminent?

// The British government is hopeful that when the big four European economies – Germany, France, Italy and Spain – meet President Obama and David Cameron tonight they will signal that they are ready to take an important step: To use European funds either to underwrite the banks or to buy the debt of troubled eurozone economies.

In simple terms this is a recognition that the eurozone economies are, to coin a phrase, all in this together. In the jargon it is a step towards debt mutualisation using two existing funds – the EFSF and ESM – but not issuing Eurobonds. //

Good ole Nate! His projections are mostly right on, his analysis is horrible, however!

        • June 19, 2012 at 6:04 pm

My biggest problem with Nate is that what he predicts isn’t much different than what the average person could predict. He over-analysis elections to prove a point polls are already making. Look at Nate’s ’08 predictions and compare them to RCP – who did no statistical analyzing and instead focused on the overall polling average in each swing state and you’ll see they’re remarkably similar.

Even in ’04, their numbers, RCP’s numbers, were almost right on and that was a very, very close election. So, Nate can talk about numbers and figures all he wants, but in the end, his conclusion won’t be any different than mine or yours when you look at the polling, see Obama up by an average of +4 in Ohio, and conclude he’ll win the state.

          • June 19, 2012 at 6:12 pm

You’re right. He’s gone from being a statistician to being a columnist and is mostly engaged in what I’d call slicing the baloney real thin.

Another major flip flop for Romney. He’ll never choose a VP……that would involve being decisive. Someone else will make the decision, like he always wants someone else to make all policy decisions.

If I’m Ruby, I’d run as fast as I could from that campaign. He is too young to be tainted by Mittiful, before he even gets his political feet wet. I mean Mitt dis him in public by tossing him aside. Then, he dis him again by taking him back cause folks complained. Wow, nothing like being the second choice of yourself.

Has Norah O’Donnell realized that her silly outrage at Newt calling Mitt a liar was the opening of the floodgates, and made her look even more foolish than her usual hair-twirling does?

Too young, not to mention full of BS with lots of fingerprints on the goods.

On her show today, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell responded to criticism of the network’s decision to run an edited tape of Mitt Romney’s remarks about the Wawa convenience store chain, but the network has not clarified why it ran the edited version of the tape.

“We ran clips of Mitt Romney in Cornwall, Pa., talking about his trip to a Wawa,” Mitchell said. “Well, the RNC and the campaign both reached out to us saying that Romney had more to say about that visit — about federal bureaucracy and innovation in the private sector. We didn’t get a chance to play that, so here it is now.”

Mitchell’s response did not satisfy many critics, especially those on the right, who saw it as a non-apology.

Meanwhile, MSNBC did not respond to requests — before and after Mitchell’s segment — for an explanation as to why the network aired the edited tape.

UPDATE: An MSNBC spokesperson emailed the following at 4:30 on Tuesday afternoon:

“MSNBC did not edit anything out of order or out of sequence and at no time did we intend to deceive our viewers.”
