Not for too long, tho, okay? Me thinks we push ourselves a bit too far at times. Of course, with a role model like PBO, I feel as if I am a lazy lump of lead most of the time. Sweet dreams my friend, one day I’ll have weekends off again, then we shall share cheesy puffs and wasabi nori at Chips’ party!

What’s behind the dissing of the President

“Munro — he is just a small cog in the right’s campaign to diminish the legitimacy of Obama’s presidency. I’m not talking about people disagreeing with policies. I mean specifically the campaign to paint Barack Obama as less than American — as an “other”–as someone whose presidency is not entitled to the same respect as that of the presidents who came before him.”

Ok, a little spoiler of my essay that should be up on TPV tomorrow:

There are so many things for which we can thank this man. For today, I thank him for recognizing the human worth of people with my name, with my language, who look like me, who are as American as I am with the difference that they don’t have the paper to prove it.

    • 25 thoughtful3
      June 15, 2012 at 11:02 pm

That is beautiful, ll. I feel the same way, though not always able to put it into words. And, everyone time my little 4-yr-old gets so excited when she’s a picture of the Obamas, or sees them or tv or something, and she says so excitedly, “that’s President Obama!”, or “that’s Michelle Obama!” And, my heart just wells up with pride inside at what we have done, and what this country has done in electing him to lead us at this time, despite all the hate and mess that’s still out there. We’re still bigger than that and outnumber them now, and there’s nothing they can do about it, which is why they scream louder than ever–they know it too, and it frustrates the hell of out them that they can’t stop time or stop progress and “go back to the good ol’ days”. So, I look at my child and think about the fact that she has an opportunity to grow up in a world that’s maybe just a little more equal because of what we did; just like I had an opportunity to grow up in a world with a little more equality than my parents did because of their sacrifices. And, just as their parents before them. So, we keep “paying it forward”, as they say, from generation to generation, “bending that arc a little more towards justice”. And, I’ve gone on and on..so I’ll stop now, lol ๐Ÿ˜‰

He is ever moving forward, working hard to perfect our union, to help this nation live up to its ideals. We must keep him as our role model as we work tomre-elect this remarkable man. The rest of the world is holding its collective breath, hoping and praying that America will do the right thing. This election is about who we are as a people. Vice President Joe Biden reached out to the nation’s mayors gathered in Orlando on Friday, calling for bipartisan support for President Barack Obama’s efforts to spend more on urban projects, especially airports, roads and bridges.
In a sometimes-fiery, 34-minute speech to the U.S. Conference of Mayors convention, Biden told an audience of 500 people, mostly mayors, that middle-class and poor people have been struggling since the recession began, and need help now. And, therefore, their cities need help now.

How about what the Republicans aren’t doing so they can get re-elected? There is a Transportation Bill sitting in the House which passed the Senate already, but the House Republicans refuse to vote on it.That bill could create millions of jobs. Our President gets a lot of love from the good people of DC and surrounding MD area. It’s the beltway media and DC elites (politicians) who are jealous and resentful. Ordinary America LOVES PBO – it’s the media that projects their own hatred on to the masses when they claim that people don’t like our President.

The praise or thank you theme is the kind of meme I’m really, really HOPING WE WILL START PUSHING** religiously DAY BY DAY in our own ‘little’ way. So much time is spent on pointing out the missteps, real or imagined, of the President and his administration that negative stuff gets repeated over and over and over and over. In my mind, unintentionally saturating the cyber sphere with each little doubt, and CROWDING OUT THE GOOD STUFF. This is one reason why each time I now see a Twitter attempt to trend a Romney comment I respond with a positive comment/opposite trend for PBO. Many have been concerned about messaging, well let’s show how it should be done. In these final 5 months let us be merciless in our positives when we respond to the negative Marks, Chucks, Noonans, or whomevers. Can we feed them a drop of PBO’s many accomplishments each time we respond? Not necessarily to change THEM because we won’t, but maybe to open the eyes of ONE of their readers. THIS IS THE TIME WHEN WE CAN MOST EFFECTIVELY ADD TO OUR RESPONSES ONE OF THE SHORT VIDEO CLIPS OF **POSITIVE** INFORMATION THAT What is Working HAS BEEN DILIGENTLY PREPARING FOR MONTHS NOW in order to be ready for ‘battle’.

Kate Finney was good on Bill Maher Show.
Bill got His Facts Mixed up and Karen Finney got in some very good talking points.
Bill said 80% of young People graduate College and mive back in with Parents. Those are right wing talking points.
The fact is, the UE rate for College Undergraduates is 4.9%. That is significant and should be shouted from the rooftops.

It’s Karen Finney. And she was fantastic. She schooled that little Republican twit straight out of the gate, but not in a confrontational way. The little girl didn’t know what hit her.

Karen Finney is one of my favorite Dem pundits. She’s always on top of it, always focused.

I bought my husband a tablet for Father’s Day (which I seem to be the only one using it). I got so annoyed with the spell check, and it ‘telling’ me what words I supposedly wanted. It was worse than my phone, which is still annoying.

I took the time to go through the menus and turned off everything. Now, I’ve been typing my whole life and get more done using my own brain than some phone telling me what I mean. Takes me longer to go back and fix it than it does for me to do it myself.

Chris Hayes does not mention the most important issue of some Latinos lives, instead he is on his Luberatarian Jamie Dimon kick, who most people don’t even know!
I dont know. It seems the media just has an agenda, it’s like some People like Chris, will ignore imperative information. Just who is he trying to impress?
Don’t get me wrong, talking about Dimon is important, but it seems to be a righteous rant with No solutions!
I just don’t know. Why isn’t msnbc talking about what happened with the Latinos. It should be a weeks long story, at least!

Why is Nicolle Wallace continuously on the teevee everywhere? Today Show is the Mitt Romney Show today—–lengthy segment of his bus tour, his ice cream socials or whatever he’s doing, fake smiles all over the place. Lots of free advertising. Nicolle said this is the week where Willard has really got his s__t together, the production looks good, really relating to “real Americans”. (Tamron interviewind her and Ari Melber) The only saving grace was Melber’s comments about the heckler-interrupter, said he was a nobody, his disrespectful shouts condemned by most everybody. Tamron reminded that Lou Dobbs highly praised the jerk—– as if Lou Dobbs was significant.

As Jovie stated, the media has an agenda. They are refusing to ask Romney any hard questions, coddling him like a damn infant, and helping him spread LIES to American people, while aggressively attacking our President at every angle for every little thing and encouraging disrespect towards him. That heckling that occurred yesterday wasn’t just a right-wing gaffe. That kind of behavior has been encouraged and instigated by the MSM (both left and right) who have not accepted the legitimacy of Obama’s presidency. Since Obama became President suddenly every random person is now qualified to give him advice on how to do his job, and is given a platform on the MSM to spew their condescending garbage.

      WE ARE SICK OF IT.

      • June 16, 2012 at 8:38 am

I am telling you, jobs is not the Only issue that the MSM feeds us everyday.
Their are a lot of under the radar, very important issues, that this President cates about.
Also, even though the media will not tell you this, the President is being bullied.
Remember, people are bullied because they are different… But, this will fester with independents, who does not like that poison!
        Just saying!

I think she feels forced to play a role on TV. I saw the fire in her eyes after Obama was interrupted, immediately demanding “Who was that?” etc. —-you could see her anger at the disrespect shown Obama. It’s like she doesn’t feel free to be herself.

Nine out of 10 Californians under the age of 65 will be enrolled in health insurance programs as a result of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA)

Between 1.8 million and 2.7 million previously uninsured Californians will gain coverage by 2019, when the lawโ€™s effect is fully realized,

Under the ACA, more than a million Californians with the lowest incomes are set to become eligible as of 2014 for affordable health coverage through an expansion of Medi-Cal

Specifically, the researchers project that an expansion of Medi-Cal will result in between 1.2 and 1.6 million new enrollees, while between 1.8 million and 2.1 million state residents will enroll in subsidized coverage through the exchange.

by the time the ACA is fully implemented in 2019, between 89 and 92 percent of Californians under the age of 65 will have health coverage

CNN’s big news today is that President Obama walked out on his bill at the dad’s day bbq lunch place. Of course this was an oversight and the WH has since paid up—-should not have even been mentioned, other than a desperate need to have something they perceived as negative on Obama.

It’s really getting bad, their will be a backlash, because People like the President, and they will eventually face criticism. I say, keep it up, Robney will lose Votes if people perceive The President as being picked on. It’s already starting to happen.
Then, People will ask the automatic question, why is the President being picked on by Billionaires and large Corporations.

And that’s what I mean when I say that the media is a HUGE part of the disrespect and nastiness that has been shown towards our President over the years. When ANYONE From the media (Meghan McCain and others I’m looking at you) feigns hypocritical outrage when a RWNJ interrupts the President, I am singularly unimpressed because I know behind closed doors they are cheering that RWNJ.

Thankfully, the American people are waking up – as evidenced by CNN’s ratings going straight down to the gutter, and we will be WIDE awake on November 6th, 2012.

Top Arizona horseโ€™s ass Russell Pearce, the former state Senator known for his awkward testicle jokes and his authorship of the stateโ€™s anti-immigration law that codified higher levels of skin pigmentation as a form of suspicious behavior, was rejected by two Mexican restaurants in Phoenix upon trying to hold a fundraiser at each to help get himself back into office. That is correct: He wanted to stage an event, to collect money for himself, in a Mexican dining establishment. And yet it turned out not to be the most foolproof way of gloating.

Pearce was thwarted by, yes, the Tequila Party, the humorous Arizona Latino voter response to the constipated sourpuss Tea Party. Tequila Party co-president DeeDee Garcia Blase got wind of Pearceโ€™s fundraiser and planned a protest of the first Mexican restaurant where Pearce had planned his event. The restaurant quickly cancelled the booking. So he tried again at another Mexican restaurant.

THANKS MR. PRESIDENT: 9 OUT OF 10 NON-ELDERLY CALIFORNIANS WILL BE COVERED UNDER OBAMACARE

// Nine out of 10 Californians under the age of 65 will be enrolled in health insurance programs as a result of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), according to a joint study by the UC Berkeley Center for Labor Research and Education and the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.

Between 1.8 million and 2.7 million previously uninsured Californians will gain coverage by 2019, when the lawโ€™s effect is fully realized, the researchers said. The report, which uses a sophisticated computer simulation model to project the ACAโ€™s impact on insurance coverage, comes as the U.S. Supreme Court prepares to issue its ruling this month on the constitutionality of the law. //

I saw an article on President Obama’s Dream Act decision at Dkos (through twitter) which was very positive, and read this comment below which I thought was even better.

“I wonder if this will make Rubio cough up a deal (3+ / 0-)
or a draft bit of legislation that he will claim is better, because this act by Obama is the sort of thing which has a creeping effect, and will haunt the Republicans if November goes ill, for the damage it will do them repealing it.And encourage pressure for a real and thorough reform from Congress, now and not in the sweet by and by of 2013 or whenever they get around to it.

It will certainly place pressure on Rubio to take some action if the purpose of his apparent candidacy for Veep is to corral Latino votes. Don’t work if you talk the talk and then don’t draft the draft legislation that does better for Latinos than what he’s talked.

It’s a straight up challenge as to the Latino and several other communities by Obama, because of the fact he underlines, that it is temporary, all he can do without Congress also acting, and there is a choice remaining in a hovering pattern over this choice as to whether someone else will have the will to reverse something that I suspect will be much more popular now that it is done, than it looked before the decision to do this was taken.

It’s also in its own way respectful of the division of powers, which leaves the matter even more squarely in Congress’ lap, not something Mitch and Boehner and Cantor want there.”

Here’s the link if you want to read it:

Wish there was a credible Democrat whom people trust who would start the PeoplesPAC we’ve been talking about here so we could donate without it impacting the regular campaign limit each individual is allowed. Anyone here with contacts who could put the word QUIETLY in the ear of a contact who could legitimately do this? You don’t have to say anything out ‘loud’ on the blog, just do it. Something like Colbert did, but with no fanfare and seriously.

If Palin, McConnell & Bachman could do it, and Zimmerman could too, Why canโ€™t we the people? And we wouldn’t be doing it for selfish gain, BUT for the good of all Americans – ie. to help PBO.

Good morning TODers. Yesterday was absolutely fantastic. How fantastic can always be measured by the level of freak out in the beltway media. It was really good.

I would say our Pres is one bad mofo, but really he’s just a mighty good man. I’m sure the family is having a really good time back home surrounded with friends and family (and friends who are like family) and good on them. PBO deserves the rest and relaxation. May blessing shower down on them and on the bride and groom.

I agree with you vcprezo – I don’t understand why we help them push the gop bs everywhere. The ‘we must reputdiate’ meme applies to a degree, but good info re major (and even minor) accomplishments get barely noticed. Anyone who’s had a child should realize that negative attn is still attention. We give it to them in spades.

Anyway off to celebrate the positive and help spread the good news about this presidency. OFA is finally holding events on a Sat around here and I’m going to participate in just a little.

It’s all hands on deck in 2012
