And why in the world do we have juvenile idiots like Sam Stein being brought in to “analyze” it??? Why!!!

I think MSNBC should be advised that that network will become extinct if President Obama is not re-elected!!!

Ezra Klein and his band of merry idiots who think they can poke their scraggly fingers in President Obama’s eyes should be advised that they will all be effectively out of work!!

Try as they may, nobody will have any use for former know-it-all bloviating self-proclaimed progressives nattering away to themselves in a Romney presidency!!!

To be fore-warned, is to be fore-armed!!!

Before 2008 I didn’t even know where MSNBC was and I kid you not, after 2016 MSNBC (all of MSM for that matter) not be on my radar. When I used to take the time to email Tweety, I always, always stated that if President Obama doesn’t win because of him and his cohorts, he will be out of a job because they will become extinct!

I suspect that PBO – being the good-natured, decent man that he is, wanted this to be an inclusive event. So he invited the main local and state officials. Cory Booker will be headlining his fundraiser in NY this evening.

        • June 14, 2012 at 7:40 pm

He’s got some making up to do. Know he didn’t mean to, but he derailed the train there for a bit. Supporters need to think about the consequences of their statements at this critical junction, can’t just blab any old impulsive, self-interested thought.

Can you even imagine Myth R-money knowing what a “Boys and Girls” club is??? Let alone actually stopping in one to hang out with kids? 😆 😆 😆

PBO is priceless, PRICELESS with kids! Can you imagine those young girls just sittin’ on the edge of the stage, hangin’ out with the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES??? WHAT??? Are you kidding me? They think it’s just the most normal thing.

THAT’S THE KIND OF WORLD I WANT TO LIVE IN!! One day the President of the United States is presenting world leaders with honors at the White House and a few days later he’s hangin’ with the kids at a Boys and Girls club. I LOVE IT, I JUST LOVE IT!!!

PS. I’m nursing a feverish kiddo, so I’m not making calls tonight. I’ll be there when he’s feeling better…

    • June 14, 2012 at 7:46 pm

I would also bet that Willard has never heard of a Boys and Girls Club. He’s been so insulated. He calls airplanes “aircraft”. He calls sports “sport”. He’s busy selecting music for his million dollar horse’s ballet—dressage competition. And he doesn’t even recognize a doughnut! No way on the Boys and Girls Club.

I saw a little of it at 5 PM ….Ed Rendell and Michael Steel…..Tweety got into it with Steele about Romney….

When he went to Rendell…I turned it off.

      • June 14, 2012 at 8:08 pm

Rendell praised Obama’s speech—–sortof——just like he does every time he discusses Obama, his praise always has qualifiers. And he wrapped his appearance up by saying all he cares about is being Hillary’s campaign mgr. in 2016.

Even though she had that Fool Mark Penn run her campaign in 2008 for $6 million bucks..I would think she’s learned from that. And, I would also think being around the Obama Admin has been good for her..I don’t care what that lying, Jodi Kantor, has to say about it.

    who does the math for the Ed show? I’m no math wiz, but if 68% of people still blame Bush for the state of the economy, how can 52% blame PBO? 68+52= 120. I thought these things were always out of 100. Never knew we had 120%. Hm. The things I learn from tv. 😐 From what I know about this particular poll question, PBO has always been in the low 30s for blame when it comes to the economy. I’m guessing the person who typed that thing up put 52 instead of 32. {{SMH}}

  38. June 14, 2012 at 8:17 pm

If you leave out the evil dumbfks who actually run the news business, the worst two things that have happened to American political journalism in the past 30 years are Maureen Dowd and Mark Halperin. Dowd, because of her relentless, obsessive need to take her own galloping Oedipal neuroses for an outing every time there’s an election, and Halperin, because he long ago invented the kind of Beltway insidery railbird bullshit that passes today for analysis. (This is, occasionally, referred to as “horse-race journalism,” but that’s unfair to people like my friend, the great Bill Nack. Actual horse-race journalism will tell you what you need to know about horse racing. The Racing Form will give you more substantive information on the sixth race at Monmouth Park today than Halperin has given you on American politics in the past two decades.) But the worst effect they both have had on the business is the influence their success has had on everyone else. Dowd, at least, can write a little. Most of her imitators can’t. And, if it weren’t for Halperin and his Drudge-mongering, his link-whoring, and his curious S&M relationship with various talk-radio hosts, there wouldn’t be Politico, and, this being the first presidential election of the Politico era, we end up with the thoroughgoing Halperinization of the process, with predictably grim results.

How in God’s name can these alleged lefty pundits keep saying it was a mistake to go after Bain? IT WORKED!

How do you not go after the one ‘qualification’ Willard has based his campaign on? Cory Booker started this mess. I just heard Sam Stein say it the way ‘Gore invented the internet’ stuck. Infuriating.

    • 165 criquet
      June 14, 2012 at 8:54 pm

And they will not say that PBO did not go after Bain, he merely pointed out that Romney was not a “job creator” in fact quite the opposite. And as the President himself says, Mitt was good at making money but bad for jobs which is what he is using Bain to say he can do. As usual, Willard is lying about his ” job creating ” abilities. There was and is no attack on Bain, the attack is on Romney but the media ignores this to spread their chosen narrative.

But I am glad I didn’t turn away because Professor James Peters (Peterson??) was great…he shot that guy down by first saying the article in the Washington Post didn’t do the guy’s book justices. and then he went on to say that we need to understand what PBO has been up against since day one and in spite of everything, he has managed to do some good thing, very good things and we need to stop being ashame/shy to tell what PBO has done for AA and all Americans! Professor Peters was great…loved it!

    Hello TOD family and Chips,

I was in San Diego for the past four days and so glad to be home and able to post comments on my computer. I was able to read them on my new android phone and listen to Stephanie Miller and Randi Rhoads on iheart radio. Unfortunately where I stayed they did not have MSNBC so I could not watch what was going on.

It’s a big weekend for my family – My neice graduates from elementary school, my brothers birthday, my moms birthday and of course fathers day.

Where the hell does these shows come up with there guest? I’m watching the Ed show and they have that Sam guy from Huffington post, then to top that off they have the bastard we were talking about all afternoon, Alter. So the Ed Show couldn’t do any better than those two bastards. Makes me want to stop watching the show.

Anniebella, great question. It is not because they are particularly smart or interesting. It must be a matter of their knowing how to play the system and how to play up to the right people. It seems many of them are either in their 30’s or their 60’s. The two that amaze me the most that they have jobs are Alex Wagner and Mrs Greenspan. But there are many more.

President Obama treats American voters as adults. Today’s Cleveland speech did just that. He did not indulge in demonizing his opponents (who, by the way I consider evil with all their plots to make him fail). Rather, he plainly laid out the difference between his vision and the vision of his opponent. The sad thing, of course, is that most Americans will never get to hear the entirety of the President’s speech. Instead they will rely on the snippets that will be aired by the MSM accompanied by snide and unethical distortions of what he actually said.

This was one of the best speeches I’ve listened to from any president in my life. It was a no nonsense speech. President Obama was firm and articulate, and he clearly presented his vision for America. Again, on display, was President Obama’s deep respect for the intelligence of the American people. He trusts all of us to make a rational choice about our votes based on facts and not on the manufactured “noise.” I don’t care what the useless and overpaid media pundits say, in my opinion, we elected one of the most exceptional human being to lead this great nation. Unlike Romney who treats Americans as gullible fools he can lie to with impunity, President Obama treats people with respect by telling them the truth. I am determined to do whatever I can to see that we re-elect this smart, honest, and compassionate man.

susanne, I too have seen the all since Harry Truman, and agree President Obama is the absolute best! I remember Truman also got treated very nastily by the press, and of course there’s that famous Chicago Tribune headline “Dewey Wins” being held up by HST. I think he had to fight the conservative media just like President Obama does, However, he got through to the American people, and President Obama is too. Why does every on camera person feel it imperative to critique and “analyze” his speeches? They have no criteria for their critiquest, and no knowledge of their own. If they were to make a speech, they would be booed off the stage!

Thanks df for all the news and information you share on this site which has enabled a person like me, who boycotts MSM electronic news, to stay, informed. It’s really a sad day in America that our so called 4th estate decided to join extremist Republicans in undermining this great president. Thankfully, there are now alternative venues that courageous and skilled people can use to push back.

I agree with you nathkatun7…as I was listening to PBO I kept thinking how much I appreciate him and the fact the he respects us and expects us to be smarter than a 5th grader. Last night on ne of those shows Howard Dean kept saying that PBO needs to come up with THREE WORDS, JUST THREE WORDS to capture his message! First of all this “mess” we are in, is BIGGER than 3 words! Secondly, the voters in America are adults and most of us can speak and think in complete sentences…we do/can understand “grown folks talk”…I am so glad that PBO doesn’t listen to these “foolish” people…he continues to do things his way!!!

Just my opinion—-like Michael Eric Dyson better as a guest than a host. And I still really worry about the money imbalance. As what’s his name, Dem strategist who I haven’t seen since ’08, just said—–the Dem big money donors have not yet stepped up to the plate. And he’s not so much concerned about the so-called battleground states—-there will be money to compete there——but is most concerned about the 2nd tier states—–like Mi. and Wi. where the Repubs will be able to make $10-12 million ad buy, and the Dems won’t be able to counter-attack at all. They have Adelson now saying he is willing to spend $100 million to buy the election for Willard——which is as disgusting and disturbing as it gets. Ugliness and quintuple sigh!

Forget it…not going to work. We have a bright young woman here who wanted to run for a seat in the state legislature. The Republican controlled election commission (and the judges as well) turned her down once….saying her house is in Anderson Country. However, her address is Knoxville, she votes in Knox County (always has), served on jury duty in Knox county last month and is a precinct chair in the Democratic Party of Knox County. She appealed the first ruling and just got word that she was turned down again. Folks, this is getting scary. Please “talk me down.” Our personal freedoms are being taken away and/or bought!

I don’t believe for one nanosecond that PBO won’t run aggressive campaigns in the 2nd tier states. People have been working in these states for months and the money will be there to complete. And frankly, if this was a Dem strategist that mattered and anyone listened to, he wouldn’t be talking like that on cable tv.

I remember that W. would give a speech and every RW pundit would say it was the most brilliant speech ever — and that was because he made it up three steps to the podium without tripping and faced the camera instead of the backdrop. They would fawn and fawn and fawn…….

We have a brilliant President — a brilliant mind, communicator, visionary and ‘our side’ tears him apart. Alter says there were no ‘soundbites’, PBO’s ‘allergic’ to them, no ‘stand out lines’. Everyone’s “all over the place” talking about the speech.

Well, “all over the place” because the speech was so rich. While Alter whined that it was too long (actually he got the memo from Boehner on that), when PBO said, “And I leave you with one last thought…..” the crowd said “No! Tell us MORE”.

Yet everyone is now talking about the “choice”. Everyone is now talking about the “how”. Everyone is reminded in clear terms, why we’re here and to me most important –

Why we are not yet out of this mess. Republicans. And Mitt Romney will give you more of the same and make things worse.

I would call that a fucking effective speech. Alter, you traitorous nitwit.

    • June 14, 2012 at 9:04 pm

What I thought was very, very effective is that he tied Romney with the Republicans in Congress and made the point that they both share a desire to turn the clock back to proven disastrous policies.

        June 14, 2012 at 10:42 pm

Absolutely, meta. This also what I loved about the speech. People do have a choice. They can choose the policies that brought us this mess or they can choose policies that are trying to get us out of the mess he inherited. I suppose Americans who suffer from amnesia, or those who are easily swayed by promises of instant gratification, will choose Romney. But those of us who don’t have short memories, or don’t believe in instant gratification, our choice is clear: we cannot go backwards and repeat those mistakes. Our choice must be Obama-Biden!

      • 232 susanne
        June 15, 2012 at 12:04 am

yes, i was also feeling he grabbed congress by the collar and held them up for view. he didn’t say ‘you have to get me a majority or this gridlock will persist’, but that was the clear message.

        June 15, 2012 at 7:14 am

        Exactly.

It’s almost laughable that the whiny leftie pundits are saying there was nothing memorable or important in the speech, and yet in the midst of their criticisms, THE CONVERSATION HAS CHANGED. Astonishing.

Here’s what the progressive media doesn’t understand: “SAY the conversation has changed, and Barack Obama changed it.
