PBO & Michelle Obama in NY

…. “I recognize that most of you are here to see Michelle,” Obama joked. “I always explain I rank fifth in the hierarchy in the White House. There’s Michelle, my mother-in-law, the two girls and Bo. So that actually makes it six. In terms of star wattage, people come to the White House and say, Where’s Michelle?”

The president then publicly hailed his wife: “Some of you know that Michelle had some skepticism about a life in politics. I think that’s well known. And so the grace and the strength and the poise and the warmth that she has brought to an extraordinarily difficult task as first lady and still being the best mom couldn’t make me prouder. I’m very pleased she’s here. This is sort of our date night.”

I was channel flipping today, and ET was on…all they talked about was Anna WIntour and the $500,000 she has raised for PBO…and that she wanted to become some ambassador, but that was only a rumor…why the hell don’t they talk about the Adelson money? ALL the dark money for Romney?? They piss me off.

The bias is so out of bounds, it’s really like what Jovie is talking about when he mentioned the whole Psy Ops process. The GOP and the MSM are definitely trying their damnedest to brainwash this nation. And the Supreme Court has aided and abetted the process. I can’t believe everyone doesn’t see this.

        • June 14, 2012 at 10:19 pm

Meta, you are absolutely right about the MSM. I am glad people are finally realizing that it’s not the failure of President Obama and his administration to communicate their message and accomplishments to the American people. Rather, It’s the fact that the vast majority of MSM have decided to be the propaganda arm of the GOP. At the same time, they are using their enormous power to misinform and demoralize the American people by either blockading, or filtering, or analyzing to death, everything the President says or does. I hope all of us who support president Obama are now realizing that, besides the GOP, the U.S. media has declared war on President Obama. As VP Biden would say, I mean that literally. I am so proud of the people here who are strongly pushing back.

You know, if I didn’t see the check mark beside this tweet I’d have thought Knoller has really been hacked. I’m actually beginning to wonder what type of ‘journalist’ Mark K really is! Anyone remember the days what there was a society columnist, usually a female, for each newspaper, or a women’s section? Knoller’s tweets indicate to me that HE must be the society contact for the Press Corps. I can’t explain this any other way…other than he is quite idiotic in his approach, of course. Do you think he’s paid as a female since he’s filling the role of society columnist?

      • 42 hopefruit2
        June 14, 2012 at 10:23 pm

According to Politico, the study “suggests” that Bo could be a liability for President Obama because “In times of war or scandal, dogs are welcome public companions, but not so in periods of economic hardship,”

However, Politico admits that there is no evidence that Bo is dragging down President Obama. So why are they even speculating about this nonsense? Furthermore, why no mention of Willard and Miss Ann’s dressage horses?

If FDR was black and President in the 21st Century, Politico, and other media entities, would probably find a way of framing fela as a liability. For the current media dogs, any thing that can be used to bash the President is perfectly acceptable.

This Mitten has issues, as far as I am concerned. Sad. I do hope they will stop this foolishness. This is awful. Another silly and distraction, for sure. HZ

        • June 15, 2012 at 9:57 am

Actually, I think this kind of political hazing by the Rob-ney campaign is in line with Mittens Romney’s “I will bully the guy who has a different look” attitude. The real question for us is how to make sure this strange behavior becomes a major issue in the campaign. I have never heard or read about one side constantly following the other side with a bus, and actually trying to disrupt an opposing candidate’s events using the bus, or for that matter using clearly paid campaign surrogates. We President Obama supporters need to start highlighting this behavior in all media. I do not really think the general American population will think this is what they expect mature campaign operatives to do with the money and platform they have to compete for votes. Most Americans want this election to be about our collective future. If they understand the lack of care for their issues, they will not appreciate this nonsense. We may even get the lame MSM to talk about the tactic. If we do not spread the word, it will not be known by everyday folks. Any ideas about this suggestion?

Hey, TOD family! I was actually able to catch Pres. Obama’s speech today and hear it in its entirety. MSNBC was the only channel that carried the whole speech, as far as I know. First time I’ve watched any cable “news” channel in very long time (years), but CSPAN wasn’t showing it live. I really liked the speech. Hope he keeps this up, but we desparately need more than just Pres. Obama out there all on his lonesome. I know we all each do what we can, but, I mean, where are the DEMS?! I understand that the corporate-owned media is a big problem, and maybe there’s just no way around it.

    • June 14, 2012 at 10:14 pm

Byron did some reporting, so Mark was wrong-

President Obama paid a visit to Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker’s house for a star-studded, high dollar fundraiser on Thursday.

Co-hosting with Vogue editor Anna Wintour, Parker said the guests gathered “hopefully, with enormous enthusiasm.”

Parker also praised first lady Michelle Obama, calling her “our radiant and extraordinary first lady” and said she had been doing “amazingly important things these last 4 years.”
Parker’s husband, actor Matthew Broderick, could not attend the fundraiser, she said.   “Matthew had a show,” she explained.

Other notable celebrity attendees included Bravo’s Andy Cohen, actress Meryl Streep and fashion designer Michael Kors.

During Obama’s stump speech, Parker’s young son interrupted Obama with applause.

“He wanted to fire up the crowd,” Obama joked.

“He knows an applause line,” Cohen said, roaring. “Right on cue!”

Approximately 50 guests attending the fundraiser, paying $40,000 for the evening. The only exception was Robin Hunt, a project administrator at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, who won the monthly Obama campaign win-a-dinner contest.

And when he does, do we imagine he will claim how many ‘jobs’ he created all by his little self, and how much good he has done for the economy, what with his big money backers pouring their crookedly earned dough into the economy? The laughable thing is, they are damned if they do, and damend if they don’t. See, they have to spend big bucks trying to back this feeble idiot, which is good for the economy, but at the same time, the boost to the economy makes our President look all that much better! Have I got it right? My brain is still pretty tired….

Lol, I just looked up the CBS bio on Twitter Knoll and it says (dated Feb 1, 2012) the following:

“After serving three years as Assignment Manager in the CBS News Washington bureau, Knoller was assigned to the White House, where he covered the last year of the George Bush Presidency and every day of Bill Clinton’s. In fact, he has logged more miles covering President Clinton that any other member of the White House press corps. He is now covering the presidency of George W. Bush. ”

Lol – no wonder he is such a useless tool.

Did anyone catch Stephanie Cutter on Piers Morgan? My goodness, this woman is a machine full of facts about Pres. Obama’s accomplishments, GOP failures, and Romney’s arrant nonsense. She was AMAZING. Wherever Pres. Obama found her, he made a fan-fucking-tastic decision in hiring her. She blows my mind! She blew my mind just watching her make Piers Morgan look like a FOOL on his show. She stopped his GOP shilling cold and I mean COLD!

She’s bloody amazing. She is never and I mean NEVER off message. Fact after fact after fact; BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! I was screaming my head off. And when she was done mopping the floor with Piers and Romney she just smiled and said thank you for inviting me on your show.

She shut Piers down when he tried to resurrect the controversy of Clinton’s comments about Romney and Bain. She told him that Clinton supports Pres. Obama 100%. That she is happy about Clinton’s support and there is no division within the campaign. Said Clinton’s words weren’t controversial. That he said one can invest in businesses and grow jobs or one can do it the Romney way; load up businesses with debt, bankrupt them, take their pension and healthcare funds, rake in millions, and walk away. She called Romney out for leaving MA 47th in job creation.

She pointed out that Romney does not care for the middle-class and will wreck this economy worse than the 08 financial meltdown. She talked about PBO’s American Jobs Act and how it will create 1M jobs and the GOP has been blocking it for the past 10 months. She talked about PBO creating 4.3M jobs and the economy having 27 months of job growth and how that is more than GWB created in 8 years.

She was on FIRE! Everytime Piers tried to interrupt her, she did not let him. She took over the segment and got out PBO’s message with such passion and clarity. Said PBO’s plan for the economy in a 2nd term was visionary. That he wants an America where education is respected. An America where the middle-class grows and more people move into the middle-class. Said PBO wants an America built to last, Said PBO is looking forward. That the power is in voter’s hands to choose what kind of America they want to live in. One where Romney tries to build the economy from the top down or one where Pres. Obama rebuilds the middle-class and reaffirms the American dream.

Holy freaking awesomeness. Wow! Just wow!

Did you see the Ohio Dem representative who said Ohioans were fired up and ready to go for PBO? I’ll report what she said. First, she was very enthusiastic and said that the people in the hall were fired up. She said they know PBO got them outta the mess and that they would see to it that PBO remain in the White House. I’m gonna go with what she had to say. Ol’ Joe Klein, gets paid to do what he does. He’s as inconsequential as the rest of them there pundits. That wonderful public servant from Ohio knows whats going on in her own state. She’s not in the DC echo chamber. Also during that same segment, Lawrence stated that the polls show PBO up 48/42 in Ohio.

          • June 14, 2012 at 11:36 pm

That was state senator Nina Turner. She refuted what Joe Klein said. He mentioned Appalachi. The people in that area probably did not vote for PBO in 2008 and never will. They were Palin and McCain supporters.

100% wrong Jovie. Broderick couldn’t attend because he has a broadway show. They aren’t separated, they’e married and very muc in love. Broderick is a Democrat and has supported Pres. Obama since 08.

Dude! I guess no one on this blog can make mistakes.
I said I got confused Matthew was John Cusack. Jeez!

        My God!

Isn’t their anyway you can talk to me without an insult?
Seriously! Some on this blog are just Rude, not so mild mannered and ready to argue at a moments notice!
        Meh is right!
So, let’s see here, today I was falsely accused of saying Jonathan Alter did not say anything wrong about the Presidents speech(we all know he did, and now People just want to take a honest mistake and patronize me!
I wonder if you know how that Feels?

Jovie, you’re forgiven. We all make mistakes. I know I do.

        • June 15, 2012 at 12:41 am

No one that I read on the threads accused you of saying that Jonathan Alter didn’t say anything wrong. If you’re referring to me, I pointed out that I hadn’t heard it, but found out that he also said it was a powerful speech. So all I said that when news or comments are brought over, bring it all over. Otherwise, it causes folks to make assumptions without the entire story. To me it’s gives those folks more power than they deserve, when time is spent on what they had the nerve to say. What Alter said was horrible, what Joe Klein said later on Lawrence’s show was horrible. But I rather talk about what the supporter of PBO on the same show had to say. I also read elsewhere that Tamron pushed back on Alter, but that didn’t make it in the comments. PBO said it best, we’re going to be subjected to all sorts of stuff. I’m just saying that the scary voice he talked about shouldn’t be ours. Peace out, I will scroll and roll past the negativity from now on.

Grassley defends GOP decision to block circuit court nominees

    By Pete Kasperowicz
Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) on Thursday defended the Senate Republican decision to block all circuit court judicial nominees until after the November elections.

Senate Republicans made this decision Wednesday, and said it reflects a longstanding practice of the party not in the White House to block votes on these judges when there are about six months before an election.

I think so, Jovie. He knows if he ever runs for POTUS, he’ll need not only PBO’s, but our support, and right now, he knows he’s on shaky ground with quite a few of us, so he’s trying to get back in our good graces.

This I like to see. Politicians flocking to the President instead of the chicken ones that ran away in 2010. I think we need to go batshit crazy on all the Dems that step out of line before the election. They need to know where their support comes from. In most cases we are showing up to vote for the President and they are just secondary. They should know this. Also need to keep reminding the ones we like that we appreciate their support of the President.

    This is disturbing

    http://crooksandliars.com/susie-madrak/wharton-professor-employers-want-top-

Finally someone speaks the truth about U.S. employers claiming they just can’t find people for job openings. Wharton Business School Professor Peter Cappelli has analyzed why employers dare to claim they cannot find people to hire when the United States has over 27 million people needing a job.

There is no skills shortage, none. In fact employers are being absolutely ridiculous in their hiring practices. It’s so bad, employers use software and third party rejection job application websites, which pretty much guarantee a candidate will be rejected. These websites and software are like virtual wastebaskets for your resume. No human involved, it’s automatic, guaranteed rejection. It’s so bad, an HR executive applied for his own job and was rejected.

Did anyone see Lawrence O’Donnell rewrite tonight? Where he talked of Mitt talking about the world war 11 vets carrying some torch. It made no sense at all. Those people who are so concern with the economy, better be concern about Mitt mentally.

      • 158 Bill R.
        June 15, 2012 at 12:16 am

I saw that segment. Mitt was claiming that WWII vets died so people like him could get rich. That’s what carrying the “torch” means.

Looks like everybody on Wall street thinks Bernanke will be doing more easing, and soon.
QE 3 could involve buying the remaining toxic assets, and lowering their Rates!
DOW was way up Today, and Japanese Stocks way up in anticipation.
This could be very good news, as the FED has the power to pit an end to this madness, or maybe we go back into a recession, it’s up to Bernanke!

The only people who seem to be benefiting from the QE are the bankers. Why can’t Bernanke help ease student loans or mortgages with all those trillions? I just don’t understand this stuff.

Jon Bon Jovi helped President Obama raise some money, and he’d like a favor in return.

“I’m looking for a position in the Cabinet, second term. … Secretary of Entertainment, I’m in,” the rocker told “Extra.”

On a more serious note, Bon Jovi called it “an honor” to headline a fundraiser for Obama earlier this month.

“Regardless of who’s in that seat, it’s a hot one. And now more than ever, the country needs all the help it can get. So I’ve always been happy to help,” he said.

And about that trip on Air Force One?

“You know, it’s OK. It’s OK,” he said of Obama’s aircraft, adding with a laugh: “My plane is pretty nice.”

    http://www.balloon-juice.com/2012/06/14/change-we-can-believe-in/

In the latest remarkable sign of change since the military repealed the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, the Defense Department will soon hold its first event to recognize gay and lesbian troops. It comes nine months after repeal of the policy that had banned gay troops from serving openly and forced more than 13,500 service members out of the armed forces.
Details are still being worked out, but officials say Defense Secretary Leon Panetta wants to honor the contributions of gay service members.
“Now that we’ve repealed `don’t ask, don’t tell,’ he feels it’s important to find a way this month to recognize the service and professionalism of gay and lesbian troops,” said Navy Capt. John Kirby, a spokesman.

    Seriously wonderful

What ho TOD peeps! Went to an OFA event tonight that included a screening of the new “Koch Brothers Exposed” documentary. Learned a few more heinous things that the Koch-roaches have perpetrated, like a neighborhood of people that are dying from multiple cancers in Arkansas because of a polluted river that runs behind their houses that has become a dumping ground for the Georgia Pacific plant which is at the top of the river; as well as an attempted RE-segregation of schools in Wake County, North Carolina until the people rose up and voted the Koch funded school board officials out. Vile, heinous, ugly stuff; they’ve got their fingers (backed by their billions) in just about every institution of this country. The crowd was pretty fired up, needless to say, after the credits rolled; lots of people signing up to get involved in the campaign. I picked up a copy on DVD as a Father’s Day present. 🙂 My folks live in a retirement community down in San Diego area full of Repugs and “independents” and probably a few “silent” Obama supporters. I figure they can do a couple of viewings of this film and get their little cul de sac fired up too. Happy Father’s Day, Pops! Now let’s get to campaigning for the Prez.. I’m such a little stinker. 😉

There was one “wet blanket” tonite who stood up during the Q&A with the director to state that she was upset about WI; that it was the national Dems party’s fault that Walker won because they didn’t give any money or any help and that “we” (whadya mean “we”???) need to get rid of these Democrats and what did everyone think about that? Response? crickets……. a few eyerolls/tsking and then people started almost immediately and spontaneously asking questions about how to help get the film more exposure in order to get more people involved; and didn’t engage. It was nice to see, folks seemed to realize intuitively that we don’t have any more time to be playing around, getting distracted in blame games and divide and conquer strategies. FORWARD, gdammit! Obama/Biden 2012!

    ‘Nite/Morning all 🙂

Of course, they had on Chris Hayes to provide Tepid push-back. That did not work out so well.

Now when I hear it I’m happy all day!!! He changes the aura of our city. I feel it.
