    Good morning, TODville.

MUST SEE charts on the private sector. Guess what? They ARE doing FINE.

PLEASE help circulate via twitter, FB, email. These facts are crucial to help defeat Romney’s lies and the MSM’s complicity.

It seems to me this May is the first month Myth raised more moolah than PBO, so why all the hoopla? And I also appreciate the visible evidence of where that money came from, in contrast to the massive numbers of small donors giving to OFA. Bye, I gotta get goin’ down the road…. My comfortable middle class friends with experience in IT and other sophisticated computer stuff and information management that I do not understand — they’ve been hearing from recruiters for well over a year and both the husband and wife have said it’s really been stepped up lately.

Now, there are jobs out there. Our problem in the U.S. is that our workforce is not trained or educated properly to fill these jobs. That is a tragedy that the Repubs couldn’t give a damn about. They’re happier with India and China doing the job for less money. While India and China invest the way the U.S. did in the 50’s. It should be called treason, because they are ‘domestic enemies’ if I ever saw one.

This is a goldmine of information to refute Romney.

I wish someone would do a chart/graph showing the GOP governor run states vs the Dem gov states and the amount of public job losses. I wonder if there is a real difference or if the financial situation encompasses both parties dealings the same as far as outcome goes. I do know some GOP govs have given additional tax breaks to businesses requiring more cutbacks in the public sector so think there should be a difference.

I know MHP is very smart and I used love listening to her when she was just a contributor.

now, she seems very determined to act like she has no clue about the fact especially as they relate to PBO’s accomplishments – what a waste of a unique opportunity to do what she does in real life which is to educate

  12. June 9, 2012 at 10:05 am

I’m actually glad that Pres.Obama made that “doing fine” “gaffe”. Its actually got some people talking about public sector vs. private sector growth and jobs. I hope when it comes up that Dems take this opportunity to bash GOP gov’s and congress for thinking laying off government workers is a GOOD thing when its actually been stalling the economy.

    • 49 57andfemale

      I agree.

    • 50 57andfemale
      June 9, 2012 at 10:17 am

A LOT of Americans have no idea that the UE rate is higher is BECAUSE of the firing of public sector workers. It would be at least a point lower without these job losses.

Let’s adopt PBO’s frame of ‘first responders’. It’s powerful.

      • 51 hopefruit2
        June 9, 2012 at 10:38 am

That’s why the MSM/GOP was in full meltdown mode over the comment and they tried to turn it into a “gaffe.” They were pissed that he spoke the truth and exposed the crap that the MSM refused to report – that there has been FAR LESS government spending on the public sector than there was under GWB, because the GOP has stood in the way. Meanwhile, the private sector has benefited from PBO’s policies and as a result is thriving despite complaints that Obama is anti-business.

Obama knew exactly what he was doing yesterday, and he didn’t “backtrack” as the dishonest media claims – he doubled down and emphasized his original point and made it clear that it was Willard who wants to get rid of teachers, firefighters and policemen, and Boner, Can’tor and Willard got their panties in the bunch because they couldn’t stand to hear the truth.

        • 52 lmrj
          June 9, 2012 at 1:21 pm

I choose to believe that PBO was using reverse psychology…. AND IT WORKED! Forced them to report what he said and have them take a closer look to prove him wrong. He knows… 🙂

    • 53 Zekke Lydonna
      June 9, 2012 at 2:50 pm

Agreed. A few well placed ‘gaffes’ can instantly spur a national conversation. This is tried and true, at least for Dems. This could definitely be a new strategic weapon. MSM slams Dems more than Repugs, unless its Repug vs Repug.

    my personal summary:

despite the constant President-Obama-bashing, public undermining, outright lying, threatening, and complaining that PBO is destroying free enterprise, the private sector is in fact doing fine as reflected in the excessice growth in corporate profits and the trillions in cash they are holding.

instead, it is the public-employee-hating actions of the radical republican governors across the nation that have led to massive and persistent lay-offs of people and hence an increase in unemployment.

so when people are screaming to cut government they are actually cheering for an increase in unmployment especially in the public sector

  26. 82 Michele
    June 9, 2012 at 10:53 am

What do the GOP want now???? Your pension funds……………..Please everyone they want your Pension funds from Social Security and next the 401k, and then the private pension funds….. This is the last pot of money that working Americans have and they want it at all costs…….

  27. 83 desertflower
    June 9, 2012 at 10:56 am

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/jun/09/did-republicans-deliberately-crash-us-economy

But as Congress giveth, Congress also taketh. The GOP’s zealotry on tax cuts is only matched by its zealotry in pursuing austerity policies. In the spring of 2011, federal spending cuts forced by Republican legislators took much-needed money out of the economy: combined with the 2012 budget, it has largely counteracted the positive benefits provided by the 2009 stimulus.

    snip/

When teachers are laid off, for example (and nearly 200,000 have lost their jobs), it means larger class sizes, other teachers being overworked and after-school classes being cancelled. So, ironically, a policy that is intended to save “our children and grandchildren” from “crushing debt” is leaving them worse-prepared for the actual economic and social challenges they will face in the future. In addition, with states operating under tighter fiscal budgets – and getting no hope relief from Washington – it means less money for essential government services, like help for the elderly, the poor and the disabled.

This is the most obvious example of how austerity policies are not only harming America’s present, but also imperilling its future. And these spending cuts on the state and local level are matched by a complete lack of fiscal expansion on the federal level. In fact, fiscal policy is now a drag on the recovery, which is the exact opposite of how it should work, given a sluggish economy.

You are so on point, Desertflower. I have been there many times while teaching. Reagan took my check each month as a teacher. Our profession suffered for decades under the Republicans. This has to stop. I speak from deep emotional experience. Please let us do everything we can to help the precious gifts, our classroom public school teachers win this battle. Enough is Enough. Spread the word.

I know right now of so many teacher friends (young ones who were coming out of college as I was retiring, and their summers are on edge right now. It is sad, and it makes me cry to know what is taking place at the expense of families of our teachers, firefighters, police departments, first responders, etc. Our children deserves better. HZ

The “little thing” in Dodd Frank that has made Wall St. sit up and take notice!

    http://www.secwhistlebloweradvocate.com/program-overview

n 2010, the President signed into law the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the most sweeping overhaul of U.S. financial regulation since the Great Depression. Among its many important reforms, the Dodd-Frank Act established a new whistleblower program that provides significant protections and incentives for individuals to report possible violations of the federal securities laws to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Specifically, the Act requires the SEC to pay monetary awards, of 10-30% of all monetary sanctions collected by the SEC and other regulatory and law enforcement authorities, to eligible whistleblowers that voluntarily provide original information that leads to a successful SEC enforcement action in which the monetary sanctions exceed $1 million. The Act also prohibits retaliation by employers against whistleblowers who report possible securities violations. Importantly, whistleblowers may file their reports anonymously if represented by an attorney.

    Thank you, President Obama!

Wow, I see you guys were up all night. The last thread contained a lot. Sorry, GOOD MORNING!!
I watched a movie last night which happens to be one of my favorites, All the Kings Men. If you haven’t seen it is a must IMHO. A lot of great lines from that movie but my favorite is “you got ignant (Ignorant) children because of this state (Louisiana)”. In content, the soon to be Governor Stark (fictional character) was talking to poor white folks about their condition. How they needed jobs, their children needed education and especially college – like the rich folks do. Class warfare at its best.
I thought his speech was phenomenal and charismatic. He didn’t use hate speech like the current crop of Republicans we now see. He talked about their condition and why it is only fair that they get a fair share. He would be welcomed to give that speech today. I love, love, love that movie. Sean Penn is an excellent actor.
“You got ignant children because of this state”. That is so true. What is the matter with us that we don’t want teachers, firefighters and police officers? I am sorry; those folks aren’t ‘getting paid’. So what they put money in their pension fund. Who wouldn’t’? That is being responsible because SS is not a livable wage. Perhaps the top of the chain of command is doing well, but the rest live day to day. They take on second jobs all the time. ‘Those who don’t know history and doomed to repeat it’ YIKES!!!

Good Morning, Ghips and TOD ohana:

To all of the teachers/professors: we have done it again! waged war to stamp out ignorance and apathy while being held hostage by lawmakers who do not have a clue or a care, tests that are designed to make schools seem that they are failing (this is about privatizing public education),
helicopter and absentee parents, and many other obstacles. Enjoy the summer as you recharge, revitalize and renew your commitment to our young people and to our nation. In one speech president Obama referred to us as Nation Builders (I have this on my name and room poster) a fact that comes more clear each day. In all of the changes and challenges that I have seen during my 29 years as a teacher, I still consider it to be one of the best careers in the world; we get to shape the future every day.

Have a great summer; you have more than earned it.
For everyone else: Thank a teacher.

Thank you, Mrs. Wright (12th grade A P English teacher); Dr. Richard Bizot (my undergrade and graduate advisor); and Mrs. Miller (my first grade teacher).

I sent the letter from Reverend Otis Moss to a friend who had issues with President Obama’s support for same sex marriage. I hope it helps to at least keep the dialog open. I have not seen a more eloquent discussion of the topic.

Moss to African-American Clergy: Don’t Abandon Obama Over Same-Sex Marriage

by Otis Moss III May 15, 2012 4:45 AM EDT

      ———————————

In an open letter, the Rev. Otis Moss III urges African-Americans not to stay home in November or pull support for Obama because of his support for gay marriage—because the Constitution protects everyone and the civil-rights struggle demands they vote.

I watched the video of the pastor preaching and man oh man!!!! of course some few may leave his church over this sermon but I think he went to the heart of the matter.

Chips, I hope that you can highlight some of the preacher’s sermons (like you did of Rev Moss) because they are causing people to reflect on these issues that are important to so many PBO supporters

The Supreme Court’s Citizen United decision has created a flood of television ad spending — hundreds of millions of dollars — by outside groups, corporations and individuals. The Justices who voted for the decision and its supporters argue that disclosure is all voters need to make informed decisions. But yesterday, a panel of House Republicans moved to keep much of this spending in the dark.

A new FCC guideline that would have forced the nation’s top television stations to list the funders behind political advertisements online.

But the House Appropriations financial services subcommittee voted along party lines to prohibit the FCC from implementing their proposal to add another layer of transparency to the political ad process. Committee Chair Hal Rogers (R-KY) argued that fiscal matters are private and should remain that way, according to the LA Times.

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY – “LYING IS THEIR STOCK-IN-TRADE”

The thread that runs through all Republican Party political discourse is DISHONESTY (with a heavy dose of HYPOCRISY). They are morally bankrupt.

        – Mitt Romney lied in his first political ad about President Obama and has been lying constantly since then.
        – The Karl Rove Crossroads GPS ads are based on lies and distortions.
        – The Romney super pacs are just lying and making stuff up in their ads.
        – Fox provides 24X7 coverage of lies and distortions about President Obama.
        – Right wing radio is festering with hate, bigotry, lies and distortions.
        – Boehner, Cantor and McConnell look in the camera and lie with ease. They are masters at lying.

We should have a ‘donation day’ each month for Obama twitter follows. $10-$20. If I could donate the full $5,000, I would do it in a heartbeat. Right now, I can only do a little each month. Look what happened with the ‘celebrity dinner’ contests. A little incentive goes a long way. It makes us feel powerful, when we all do something big together. It also gets the MSM’s attention.

Weekly, Steve Benen tallies up the latest instances of Mitt’s Mendacity. At longer intervals, the Dish flags Romneys Big Lies, the core myths of his case against an imaginary Obama. I find the laser focus on lying a little narrow: the modes of Mitt’s deception are manifold. As a private equity chief, Romney was a master of playing a rigged game, or of himself rigging games in his firm’s favor; he has carried that skill to the political arena. He would have the election played by Romney Rules, compiled below.

Good Morning Chips and TOD Family. Beautiful day. I have 3 dreams at this point in my space and they are: To have my first Grassroots Fundraiser Page; to raise 200.00 for starters, and to get POB re-elected on Nov. 6, 2012. Well I got a letter from our sweet VP Joe Biden this morning, and I said to myself, this is it. So I am scared to death, but will you all here in my family help me to wipe that fear away and go to my page and donate whatever you can.

I am so nervous!! This is so exciting. I do not know how to do this. Please help me. My page short name is HZ. Page Title: My Fundraising Goal.
Then listening to POB’s words this morning really allowed me to believe that this is right for me. Being a retired teacher, well, this is very close to my heart. Please help me ring in the “happy tears of joy” to reach this. Oh, TOD Family, I am sooooooooooooooooooo excited. Please Help Me.

I activated the start of the donation, but I am thinking that this is how to get there: I will call and find out, or if anyone of my beautiful TOD family members who have done this before can tell me, I would surely appreciate it. (((((((((( Please))))))

This is my first time doing this online. Help, if you know how I need to direct people to my page. Thank you all so much.HZ

BWD seems very demoralized as of late and is allowing the beltway media pundiocy to get to her. She cited a Michael Tomasky piece in her latest article which is a letter to David Axelrod and Plouffe. Now I don’t know whether Mr. Tomasky has ever ran a political campaign, let alone a successful presidential campaign, but he seems to have all the answers as to what Obama’s campaign should or shouldn’t do, and why Obama is weak, and blah blah blah.

In my opinion, Mr. Tomasky is part of the problem – he is working overtime to portray the campaign as dysfunctional (which is isn’t), and portraying the President as weak, lost and confused (which he isn’t), based solely on stupid MSM memes put out by the GOP media. The Obama campaign is not trying to win the next news cycle – that has NEVER been his way of governing OR campaigning. He KNOWS that the media is not on his side. He is trying to win an election in November, and his numbers as indicated by the majority of election data models, suggests that he is on track to do just that.

I think it’s time we turn off these damn pundiots who goal is to be as depressing, discouraging, deflating and demoralizing as possible to Obama supporters, while emboldening Willard and the GOP with their tiresome, endless, pointless scrutiny of every damn eye-blink, syllable uttered, or sneeze by PBO.

I’m sorry but I don’t think BWD, myself or Tomasky or anyone not versed in running and winning a campaign are in a position to tell Axelrod /Plouffe what they should or shouldn’t be doing in that manner. I like when we tweet them positive ideas (e.g., Bobfr, meta, amk, ut – style), but we need to temper our disparaging criticisms, ultimatums, threats, and keep the musts, shoulds and oughts to a bare minimum.

    • June 9, 2012 at 1:12 pm

I agree and wondered lately where it was all coming from. I think we got this, and people are forgetting the electoral college decides this election. Beyond it being stolen, in which case, no campaign or GOTV will matter, we need to do our bit, by donating and feets on the streets. Exploding one’s own head is counterproductive.

I was glad to see you up and running again, but was surprised to see you shut off comments. Your posting this morning was extremely disappointing and desperate. You sounded no different than a typical troll, sorry to say. You made a “gaffe” in your post this morning. What else can I say, but “Ye of little faith.” Remember that Obama plays chess while others play checkers. Nothing is more evident of that than yesterday’s drama.

      • June 9, 2012 at 1:56 pm

I didn’t call you a name at all. But I did wonder where you were coming from. I guess if you feel ‘this campaign sucks’, then there’s not much to wonder about after all. These are the same campaign folks who brought home the victory in ’08 and will again in ’12. We can’t get all discombobulated (sp) when a news cycle is less than admirable. We keep on keeping on with encouragement towards our mutual goal. We’re on the same team. Nothing’s wrong with constructive criticism, but that ‘playing scared defense’ sounds like something straight from our orange friends.

How about helping bwd and those of us who may face fears now and again, with some reasons to hope instead of chastisement?

I think it’s great that many of us never have those fears. How about using some of that energy to help those who do?

          • 192 57andfemale
            June 9, 2012 at 2:25 pm

I phrased that inartfully and inartful will get us in trouble. If anyone, bwd knows there are a million reasons to hope. What I meant was, when someone has a particular concern or fear, how about “Maybe if you look at this way……..” . Calling someone an Orange Satan troll doesn’t help anyone, does it? Isn’t that a waste of our precious energy?

maybe if we try to answer fears in this way, it will give us all great ammunition to use with the regular folks out there who aren’t an engaged as we are. We can turn someone’s fears into useful ammunition. Because if bwd and others are concerned, so are a whole lot of people who won’t bother to vote unless we give them positive reasons to do so.

            • June 9, 2012 at 2:50 pm

Time to put on our big girl panties and big boy boxers and stop whining and start fighting. As I stated last Saturday after the unemployment drama, it’s tiring to read, watch, and listen to the daily bloodpressure rise and fall with every news cycle.

To paraphrase FDR, the only thing we have to fear is fear itself – and that comes with losing your mind to MSM bullshit everyday. I trust Team Obama’s work. People freaking out exemplifies falling into the trap. Get a grip sheeple.

                June 9, 2012 at 3:10 pm

You’re right drdaddy. If President Obama was worrying about how his every move and utterance would be played in the media, he would have had his arms, legs and vocal cords surgically removed to ensure that he did or said nothing. Because every thing he says or does is potential fodder for what I consider to be a very desperate media environment. And the media usually distracts when the President EFFECTIVELY calls out the Republicans.

Take for example, last July when he called out the Republicans on their typical last-minute brinksmanship game playing with the debt ceiling. The MSM jumped on a comment he made about Malia and Sasha being 13 and 10 and getting their assignments completed early. The HUGE “gaffe” for the media was Obama saying that Malia was 13-yrs old a few days before she actually turned 13. That dominated the news cycle for almost a week.

Do we honestly want our President Obama to spend a whole lot of his time obsessing with what he once mockingly referred to as “plain foolishness” in the media?

              • 195 Zekke Lydonna
                June 9, 2012 at 4:54 pm

Team Obama has to do the Media’s job too. People complain about the Obama campaign messaging, but wasn’t it the MSM job to explain The Affordable Care Act? Isn’t it their job to inform the public about new laws, regulations? They totally dropped the ball and started treating all information as ‘political material’. They allow misinformation to fester without correction. They abdicated responsibility and started blaming President Obama. What a crock.

But we know what the game is, and we have to play it to win. MSM has a pattern. We have to exploit their willingness to jump on anything controversial, especially as it concerns President Obama.

            • June 9, 2012 at 4:04 pm

I did NOT call anybody anything at all, much less a troll. Read it again. I said it sounds like our FRIENDS from that orange place. You may interpret it anyway you like. BWD is entitled to her fears, but I think she knows they’re unwarranted. We’ve been through this before. we can choose to gnash and bash, fear and tears, or stay up and put up. If there are concerned folks about this election, then what better place ot be than here, among the strongest supporters. Sending chastising letters to the campaign is hardly what I call supportive at this point in time, especially from a veteran have his backer.

      • June 9, 2012 at 2:06 pm

I can’t tell you what to do with your time, but what is most important in helping PBO to join a phonebank, register voters, donate, recruit more volunteers. This is the stuff that matters and this is the stuff that puts us in contact with our progress. Sitting on the sidelines is a recipe for depression.

The presidential campaign is not going to be a cakewalk for us. The MSM will be telling us every single day until the election that PBO is losing. They don’t have any other script. It’s not their business model. Tomasky is part of that troop, as far as I’m concerned.

        Respect. Empower. Include. Win.

        • June 9, 2012 at 2:12 pm

BTW, what the MSM and GOP are doing, as we all know, is DIVIDE AND CONQUER. We cannot afford to fall into this trap of being angry at PBO and the campaign. It depresses turnout and it disables our only chance of winning – the mobilization of our grassroots. Have some faith in each other to get this done. Have some faith that we are stronger than the GOP and their cronies are betting.

They have their own agendas and interests to protect – and it’s not ordinary folks like me the’re concerned about. They will do fine with a Romney presidency.

      • 208 nathkatun7
        June 9, 2012 at 8:04 pm

Thanks, meta, for this excellent comment. This is the spirit we all need to emulate! Supporters of the President who have legitimate concerns about the way the campaign is run should write directly to the campaign to express their views and offer recommendations for change. Writing a public letter criticizing the campaign does nothing but demoralize people. I am a strong believer in that old saying that a family should not wash their dirty laundry in public. Doing so makes the family look bad. The worst thing we can do at this stage in the election is to start pointing fingers at each other. The team in charge of the President’s campaign already demonstrated that they know how to win elections. That does not mean that they can’t benefit from legitimate advice to improve on what they are doing. What is not constructive is armchair criticism driven by what our corrupt media says.

If THIS is where we are, sorry. fucked. I refuse to buy into the talk like this. PBO has done more for this country, more for the world, more for the people with no voice, more for the sick, more for women, etc.Are we really going to let these people that talk out their asses control the narrative? REALLY????

This is a true story. Happened to my brother. One night, after work, he stopped into a 7/11 or something, and picked up ??…and he wanted to buy some lottery tickets. He was filling in the numbers that he wanted, mostly from the birthdates of our family…he had played the same numbers FOR YEARS. The guy behind the counter said, “Those are weird numbers, sure don’t look like winners to me!” My brother took his lottery number choices, and changed ONE NUMBER…based only on the remark from a no nothing random guy behind the counter of a 7/11!

When the lottery drawing happened, guess what? The ONE NUMBER my brother changed (I think it was my birth date) would have WON HIM THE HUGE JACKPOT! He did win some money, because he had all the other numbers…but because he actually listened to the random guy behind a counter, because he veered off the numbers that he had played for years, week after week…..the big money prize was lost to him. Listening to a complete stranger. Someone that knew about as much as he did about this…

We tease him to this day. He still beats himself up, to this day. Especially since he’s has had money issues, house issues etc. But he learned a big lesson from this. We need to learn this same lesson. SOONER RATHER THAN LATER. Stay the course. Eyes on the North Star. Steady and sure. All Together. If they sense weakness or wavering, and they are looking for this…they will exploit this to the WH. We have to go BALLS TO THE WALL! I suggest that anyone that is beginning to be lulled into doubt and fear by the constant RW noise….turn it off, volunteer, donate, call, walk, talk. I see this battle, in my mind, as the battle that played out in the Lord of the Rings, Return of the King. Watch it, then you’ll know.We have the fight of generations, past and future, to fight for!! And you really think we should give a shit about what some talking head says????????? If that’s the way it is, I’m not your girl. I’m in to win. I’m leaving this all on the field. Who’s with me?

What Billy Kristol said is not new actually. That meme is something that is rehashed time and again the media – particularly after the media and GOP coordinates an anti-Obama attack (like the one yesterday). They said the same thing when gas prices were rising. They said the same thing LAST August when PBO’s poll numbers were dropping. They said the same thing amidst several of their manufactured nontroversies e.g., Catholic Church BC nontroversy, SSM nontroversy, Hillary Rosen nontroversy, etc.

The media and GOP plans a coordinated attack and develops an “Obama is doomed – Romney can win!” meme to go along with it. t’s all BULL SHYTE, and we know it.

Of course we know this:) All I’m saying is we need to use these words toward the good of re electing PBO…and not allow these to seep into our subconscious.I totally agree with you, hf. In fact, I would love to see a boycott of MSM outlets that spout this crap….money talks! Turn them OFF.

Yup. The push back on Twitter has been fantastic today. And the media/GOP are escalating anti-Obama narratives because it’s not proving to be as easy to swiftboat him as they anticipated. That’s what we’re witnessing. The MSM’s increasingly virulent hostility against PBO because they’re getting increasingly desperate.

GOP lives in Opposite World. 95% of EVERYTHING they say is FALSE and DEFENSIVE. They are cocky right now about the ‘win’ in Wisconsin. Did they really win? Dems own State Senate. Governor Joe Doe is on his way to prosecution. Remember John ‘Boner’ said he got 98% of what he wanted in the Debt talks. Really?

The jobs report was not as bad as MSM made it seem. Nothing ever is. They deal in Fear and Obsession, just like Repugs. It’s the theory of ‘Trickle down Facts’. They come out when MSM has moved on to the next ‘hair on fire’ story. Anyone who listens to repugs and becomes ‘afraid’ is being silly. What makes me crazy is when ‘progressive’ pundits play the fear game.

Chris Hayes, “How Bill Clinton messed up Obama’s week.” No, he didn’t. Anyone’s words can be taken out of context. The people who do it are the ‘bad guys’, not the speaker. Progressive are gullible to GOP messaging. Where are the independent thinkers? Where are the people who report ‘the story’, instead of the political fall-out? Hummmmmm.

I joined twitter just to be one of PBO’s followers. I was pissed off about some story trying to undermine PBO popularity. I didn’t actually use it for several months. I finally took time to figure out how to use it–still a novice. Now I am somewhat addicted. I open twitter while I watch my political shows. Real Time postings. Love it. You should really take the plunge.

So howdy doody O’s! What a great getting up day on my 36th…er, uh 63rd birthday!!!! My gift to self was to run my daily 5k in less than 29 minutes. Mission accomplished!

My political take today is: the prairie path I run on goes behind an industrial complex area. Until recently there were no cars in the lots on Saturdaay and Sundays. These past few months, the lots are as full on Saturdays as any other day of the week. Sign that the economy is picking up? Yep, I’d say so.

Good ol’ Florida. That state seems to continuously be involved in the dirtiest of politics. (see: voter purge) Now there are ugly charges flying, as the former head of the Fl. Repub Party, Jim Greer, is due to go on trial in July re. corruption charges. Former Gov. Crist has filed an affidavit in the case with his knowledge of the wrongdoing. So Greer is now accusing Crist of gay affairs and drunken rampages etc. Crist said it’s extortion in order to get him to change his affidavit. The last paragraph is interesting as it said the Repub Party is trying to prevent this case from proceeding because it will reveal embarrassing details——excessive spending and lying etc.—-by current Fl. leaders, including Sen. Marco Rubio.

Already happening. People in Florida are totally pissed about Scott’s efforts to suppress the vote. They are moving away from repugs to Obama. I hope this will also move them toward more registration. In ObamaWorld, many important things happen ‘under the radar’ of the MSM. They never seem to see it coming. I think some of them are dumber that their viewers, or at the very least, more self-involved. Most seem to be followers, NOT Leaders. FLASHBACK: MSNBC panel: Why won’t Romney go on ‘Meet the Press’?

Mitt Romney is afraid to go on Meet The Press and/or Face The Nation BECAUSE THEY MIGHT BE QUESTIONS about his agenda for the country and claims he has made about President Obama. And when was the last time Mitt Romney did a real press conference with reporters where there were no restrictions on the number and type of questions? Does he plan to spend the rest of the campaign answering questions every now and then from the rope line or through his press secretary? Or is all we are going to see is op-eds and speeches where he can’t be challenged for his outlandish claims real time?

This man thinks he is qualified to be the leader of the free world and he is afraid to do interviews unless it is with Sean Hannity or one of the right wing radio hosts. What’s wrong with this picture? David Gregory and Bob Schieffer have invited him on their shows and as far as I can tell, he has not accepted. Let’s face it, Mitt Romney is a control freak. If he’s not scripted, he’s in trouble. But being able to be interviewed by anyone in the media is a pretty basic skill for ANY politician, let alone a presidential one. Very strange.

It’s long past due for Mitt Romney’s “Katie Couric” interview. You know, an interview where tough questions are asked and outlandish claims are challenged with the facts.

    ————————-

The MSNBC panel discusses Mitt Romney’s lack of comment on the Limbaugh controversy, and why despite the tough talk on topics such as Iran, the GOP frontrunner won’t go Sunday talk shows such as “Meet the Press.”

He’s right. And if I recall, OWS diverted attention away from the President’s American Jobs Act which he was on the road trying to sell, by soaking up media attention, failing to help put pressure on congress, the GOP, etc. They were more concerned with kissing up to the media for camera attention, damaging property, and causing trouble than getting anything substantive accomplished.

“Yup, they were one of the reasons that AJA got derailed.”

Amk never said that OWS should be credited with derailing AJA! I think what amk, and hopefruit, pointed out is that OWS “diverted attention from the President’s American Jobs Act…” thereby giving cover to what you appropriately called the “Domestic enemies” to derail the AJA.

      • 262 utaustinliberal

Exactly. He was busting his heiny going all over the country trying to sell a very popular plan that independent economists said would create 1M jobs and drop the unemployment numbers by a whole percentage point – and that’s just conservative numbers – and what the heck was OWS doing? Filling up TV space with hot air. Their crap and their schtick is stale as day old bread. Instead of wholeheartedly supporting Pres. Obama and the Democrats, registering voters, occupying the GOP in congress, educating voters about how Pres. Obama’s policies will address income inequality and protect the middle-class, they were busy camping, loitering, causing a ruckus, disrupting municipalities, getting high and singing stupid camp fire songs.

        • June 9, 2012 at 2:12 pm

Far be it from me to tell PBO what to say, but since PBO had no trouble admitting that his phrasing was not exactly what he meant, I’d love to hear something along the lines of, “See, gov. • 277 hopefruit2
        June 9, 2012 at 2:58 pm

By the way, PBO didn’t say that his phrasing was not exactly what he meant. Again, that is the MSM’s false reporting of what PBO said. In their desperation to show that he made a “gaffe” they framed his clarification remarks as a correction – which it wasn’t. He initially said that the private sector was doing fine, and it was understood that he was contrasting it with the public sector. In his second comment he simply expanded, but maintained that the private sector was doing fine relative to the public sector, for which the GOP had been blocking bills.

    Gee, MItt…keep talking!

    http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2012/06/09/496886/romney-energy-plan-includes-drilling-virtually-every-part-of-us-with-no-protections-even-for-national-parks/

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is no stranger to attacks on the environment, as seen in his ads against clean energy jobs, his pledge to roll back fuel economy standards that protect public health and reduce carbon pollution, and the fact that he doesn’t know “the purpose of” public lands that belong to all American.
But this morning’s Washington Post sheds more light on Romney’s energy plan, including the fact that he would open up “virtually every part of U.S. lands and waters” to drilling regardless of whether they are national parks, national monuments, or protected in some other way. As the Post reports:
Asked whether any place would be off limits for oil drilling, campaign spokesman Andrea Saul said, “Governor Romney will permit drilling wherever it can be done safely, taking into account local concerns.”

Romney said a whole lot about his mentality with that comment about firefighters and teachers. He likes firing people and it shows.

      • June 9, 2012 at 2:36 pm

Yep. These Bain ads are hitting home and Mitt walks right into it proving Team Obama’s point. He’s a job destroyer as Jim Cramer said. 37th to 47th, 4810 jobs in 39 months, bankrupting companies as a business man and throwing people out of work. That’s him to the core. We’ll look back on the Bush years with fond memories if a Romney presidency ever occurred.

    Hi,

Guys please don’t fight – much better to put all energies into taking Romney down. One thing I’ve noticed is that the messages (from surrogates) seem to be all over th eplace. My suggestion is that we decide on one issue (i,e. why hasn’t Romney been held account for avoiding the media other than right wing outlets, or, why haven’t Repubs been held account for blocking legislation that would help teh economy and hammer it all day – and don’t get distracted by any media fluff. That’s what they want and it only works to R’s advantage. On a brighter note I think fundraising amongst Dems might crank up now and the Florida purge won’t happen. Onward.

🙂 They’ll be fine, cluny…passions do run high here sometimes, but we all want the same thing. Just different ways of getting there or expressing ourselves. There are not a larger group of Obama supporters anywhere…hearts are in the right place.

I don’t agree on the ‘one message’ thing. We do need message discipline, but we can also come at Mitt-The-Liar from many directions.

I notice the MSM seems to think the Obama campaign has ‘moved away’ from talking about Bain, to talk about Mitt-The-Job-Destroyer’s record in Mass. In their minds, they think he was ‘scared’ off of the Bain criticism. MSMStupid. They think because they can’t multi-task, others can’t either. DUMB ASSES. They are the Bain of our existence.

    THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/08/opinion/obeidallah-liberals-obama/index.html?hpt=hp_bn7

Liberals want Obama to be a king, not a president

New York (CNN) — Can liberals ever be happy? I keep asking myself this question as I hear an increasing number complaining about President Obama.
There seems to be a Greek chorus of liberal whining: “I’m disappointed by him.” “I expected more.” “I thought he would be different.”

    snip/

What’s clear is that the liberals speaking out don’t want a president, they want a king. Albeit a liberal king — but still a king, who would be unrestrained by Congress as well as the checks and balances enshrined in our Constitution.
These disenchanted liberals apparently wanted Obama — upon taking office — to have instantly transformed every campaign promise into law by the simple wave of a pen. Or maybe they would have preferred Obama to have walked out onto a White House balcony where, in a scene reminiscent of the musical “Evita,” he would be greeted by adoring throngs waiting below, and on the spot, declare that all his ideas were now the law of the land.
But here’s the problem. Barack Obama is not a king, he’s the president of the United States. For those who may have forgotten the “Schoolhouse Rock” cartoon of “How a bill becomes a law,” Congress needs to first pass the bill before it has any chance of becoming a law.

Alex Wagner works my last nerve bust she had this great guy on from Princeton – Australian judging by his accent who described Romney’s economic policies as ‘Bush but bushier’ (or something like that). That should be advertised big time.

Sorry if I offended anyone with my disappointment with BWD, but if you have a beef with the campaign, email or call HQ in privacy on your own dime. We all want the same thing, but airing out dirty laundry in public make everyone unhappy.

But who am I, just a modest educator who’s working hard to protect the future of my children, and everyone else’s living in the school district.

    http://afpak.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2012/06/08/a_unifying_force_lost

The June 5, 2012 drone strike that killed Abu Yahya al-Libi is a major milestone in America’s long-term effort to break the back of al-Qaida’s general command. With Abu Yahya al-Libi’s death, al-Qaida has lost its last great unifier, a man who possessed the rare talents and credentials to keep an inherently unwieldy global movement on track and in line. Without their ideological enforcer standing guard, the various al-Qaida affiliates and militants will invariably begin to wander off al-Qaida’s sanctioned path.

A revolutionary to his core, the bureaucratic success of the al-Qaida organization was never Abu Yahya’s end goal. Al-Qaida was a matter of convenience, a ready-made architecture that he almost begrudgingly joined after escaping from an American military prison in July 2005. As the last group standing, al-Qaida would be Abu Yahya’s best chance for advancing his agenda, one that far exceeded the goals of even al-Qaida’s top brass. Abu Yahya not only wanted to get the Americans out and tear Arab regimes down, he wanted to remake Islam from the inside. Abu Yahya was an intellectual insurgent of Machiavellian proportions.

    His death was a BFD!!

President Obama’s reelection team released a new web video blasting Republican nominee Mitt Romney for saying Friday that the federal government shouldn’t move forward with legislation that would give cash-strapped states money for teachers and emergency responders.

The video opens with a series of headlines about teacher, firefighter, and police layoffs nationwide.

I guess Sonebody is fighting on this Blog?
Well, I never lay into People any where, albeit I do defend myself often.
The problem, as I see it, is Obama People doing battle on Twitter is total mentally draining.
They Fight on Twitter, or other Blogs, and then being those same skills over to this Blog.
If something bothered you, write Chips an email, because laying into somebody is harsh and is bad for you.
Now, be aware, we are all on the same Team and bringing stuff from Twitter -over to this Blog is WRONG!
    That is all!
