Good afternoon/evening, peeps. Hope everyone is doing well. Looking forward to hearing PBO’s speech. Always positive and uplifting, an inspiration especially welcome on days like this one.

first, thank you tally for the apt rant. even with our pbo positivity, i find my thinking can be swayed by the media without my realizing it. countering the barrage of slanted messages is a full-time job for pbo’s team–and that includes us.

second, haven’t had a chance to thank desertflower for her post a few pages back. paul krugman’s article on the economy is a gem–distilled info and analysis. here’s one line: ‘so the austerity drive…isn’t really about debt and deficits at all; it’s about using deficit panic as an excuse to dismantle social programs.’

that’s punchy truth. and it ties right in with what tally is saying–panic caused by disinformation is playing a significant role in this election.

    here’s the link again :

Since I took, about a week ago, a new approach towards the media, I had a great day, no stress, no anger….I realized something, it’s not, for example, job reports that were stressing me out, it was the anticipation of how the media would spin it…..

I wrote a few comments about that this week….It’s when I realized that there’s no difference between Sean Hannity and Chuck Todd, Andrea Mitchell or whoever that I let go the anger.

The delivery is different of course between Fox hosts and the ones on other networks…but the goal is the same….to never give credit to the President and help Romney get elected.

So since I never get angry at what Hannity say because he’s not worth a sec of my time…..why in the world did I get angry so many times at Chuck Todd or Mitchell or Scarborough?

Giving credibility to these Republicans is the same for me now as giving credibility to Sean Hannity…

So ef them…and I’ll focus on the positive and help as much as I can,….

Thank you, ChristiMTL, for this comment filled with great insights! For me the electronic media coverage of the build up to, and finally the eventual invasion of, Iraq, turned me off completely. I just could not tell the difference between FOX and all the other so called mainstream media like CBS, NBC, ABC and CNN.

ChristiMTL, you’ve reached the mountain–the place of calm where the media doesn’t bother you because you give them no credence. It’s a cool place to be.

Mitt Romney, in one of his speeches many weeks ago, reminded Bill Clinton that they were both white, and race comes before party. Today, I guess Bill responded affirmatively to Romney’s racist dog whistle by attempting to undermine PBO’s message.

When and where is that quote? What Robme said was times were good under Clinton which Team Obama should use against him like Jerry Brown did when Meg Whitman talked about how great California was when she first came here….Jerry Brown was Governor then, I think that sunk her campaign after that.

this sure is a large range between numbers ain’t it? It’s because Romney’s lawyers asked for another extension on the forms…I’m guessing the extensions will be asked for until November 7th after Romney has won election or not if Romney loses.

Surprise! Mitt Romney is still rich

Mitt Romney is worth between $84 million and $256 million, according to campaign disclosure forms released Friday by the Federal Election Commission…

My Euro colleagues say they’re watchin U.S. elections closely. They want a #Romney win…that in itself will spur global economy.

What?! The ONLY Europeans who want a Romney win are Merkel and assorted right-wing nutjobs!!!

Country by country, Europe is rejecting austerity, even Cameron’s British Tories are verrrrrrrrrrrry slowly getting it that their RW economic policies are a complete catastrophe.

Only yesterday’s folk in Europe want Austerity Romney to win, trust me!!

Witness the Irish couple and the Belgian couple I met in transit, THEY want an OBAMA~BIDEN win, big time. They are scared of R-money, they are real people, workers, and retirees, they can see the writing on the wall.

I love President Obama but I disagree with him on that one……no they don’t love their country because if they did their goal wouldn’t be to crash the economy and create more suffering…..the only thing they love is money and power.

    • June 1, 2012 at 7:49 pm

Agree 100%. they are destroying the country. You can’t love something and live to destroy it at the same time.

I agree with you, ChristiMTL! But at least the President shows more class than they do when they attack and mock him. They can attack and mock the President of the United States because they are protected by white privilege. That is why the media and everybody descended on the President, once his campaign dared to air a commercial that chronicled the misery inflicted on workers by the vulture capitalist, Mitt Romney. We have an obligation to understand the environment that President Obama has to operate in. Yes he is the President, but believe me, if he came out and called “Mitt” a vulture capitalists, just as Rick Perry did, the media and people like Bill Clinton would be all over him arguing that he is attacking “MItt” personally.

Agree—-this last tax return will be so sterilized before it ever sees the light of day——Amer. people deserve to see all those McCain saw and the reasons he then rejected Willard and made a last minute desperate choice of a very unqualified Palin.

    Paraphrasing…..

President Obama said it’s easy for his opponent. He doesn’t give specifics. He just wants to take a glide path and surf folks frustrations all the way to the White House.

C-span is re-airing it on its main channel now. I too thought PBO sounded a little tired and s little discouraged. No matter what he does or how hard he works, so much of this is out of his control.
