On mature reflection, I’d like to apologize for using a shrub to cover Shrub’s face in the previous post. I meant no offense at all – to the shrub.

Sorry shrub.

Hi CC, and thanks! I really like this picture. Sorry I’m just popping back in. I got an unexpected visitor right after I signed in and she had time to kill as she was waiting on her child who had been dropped at some sports activity or other. How do you tell a friend, okay you can go now so I can get back to the blog? Grrr! And now I can’t stay online much longer because I have to get my stuff ready for tomorrow’s first day. Have a good night, I’m going to take a quick peek at Twitter, and I’ll catch up here on the weekend.

The shrub looks so adorable and innocent. I can hear it saying, “I didn’t do it. Chips did it. She’s the one who has blood—-errrr, leaves—– all over her hands.” Shrub also looks secretly pleased to have played a key role in the comedy play of the day. Just wishes it hadn’t been such tough icky duty—– but still pretty proud.
        Should I post this?

    Wisconsin Election Protection
ALERT – We just got a very credible report of door-to-door canvassers telling voters that if the voter signed the recall petition “they already voted” and do not have to go to the polls on Tuesday. This is patently false, but we need to let EVERYONE know. Please share & remind everyone that in order for your voice to be heard you MUST vote by 6/5!!!!

This is a problem in Wisconsin, which is why the poll watchers have to stay in for the election counts at each polling place and then make sure that that is the count reported to the county and the state. I’m sure WI will be crawling with OFA lawyers on June 5.

Thinking–all of these large sums of money coming from the Koch’s etc. Well we really have no need to be nervous or concerned because if what Willard did to Massachussetts while he was governor is any clue he ‘ll screw up these donations so badly that the GOP won’t know what hit them. AND he’ll do damage to himself and his party and followers in just a few short months. Remember Romney is not all there in the brain department and he is very very good at screwing up money-especially other people’s money because he sure isn’t going to use or share his own.

Any amount of money, any attack ads or whatever they do means nothing………the only thing that matter is the debates between both…..even if, as expected, they ask Romney softball questions, he’s going to screw up……and he hates to be challenged, ….President Obama will crush him with his knowledge and intelligence….

CNNโ€™s abandonment of news to climb in bed with the tea party has turned into an epic disaster as the network has lost 52% of its viewers.

In a month where all three cable networks had ratings declines, no one did as badly as CNN. The network lost 52% of their total viewers (Run, Anderson, run. Imagine what a Cooper/Maddow primetime could do for MSNBC). Wolf Blitzerโ€™s The Situation Room was down 46% in total viewers and 61% in the demo. How bad for have things gotten for CNN? In my recent travels, I passed through four airports, and not a single one had CNN on. The channel that I have been seeing more public televisions tuned to is The Weather Channel. Yes, even the weather is more interesting than CNN.

CNNโ€™s problems started when the network bosses got the bright idea that they should try to copy Fox News, and move to the right. After climbing into bed with the Tea Party Express and hiring far right wingers Erick Erickson and Dana Loesch led to the current ratings disaster, what would you expect CNN to do?

    What will TeaNN do????

    • 99 COS
      May 31, 2012 at 8:17 pm

Maybe this is why Wolf Blitzer pushed back on that vile, lying Trump Monday. I use to watch CNN for their news, but I only turn to the channel with the mute button on just to see what is on their crawler every morning. Like Randi Rodes says, there is no news anymore. I use to watch the nightly news every single day but I don’t do that anymore because they have gone off the rails also.

    • May 31, 2012 at 8:45 pm

      What will TeaNN do????

This move to the extreme right is so strange. I remember Anderson Cooper saying one time that most of CNN’s audience were democrats and to keep that in mind when you look at a CNN poll. What the hell did they expect ? Why should we Dems stick around and listen to CNN bash the President. He also happens to be the leader of our party. CNN can kiss my azz.

Does this mean that Holder is no longer chickenshit? No wait, he’s timid, no wait he’s scared…or whatever.

If there is anything we should have learned by now, that the Obama admin does not do anything prematurely. They like to do things with read time for results and less ability of partisans to do shit to try to manipulate things.

Good on the DOJ and AG Holder.

      • May 31, 2012 at 8:50 pm

      • May 31, 2012 at 9:45 pm

Yep. I just responded to someone on twitter who said the DOJ is too timid and that they only responded because of pressure from the public. I asked that person how can the DOJ be too timid when they have gone after other states for their voter ID laws? How do we forget these things so easily? And oh… the federal government responding to public pressure? Oh how horrible! Please lets go back to bold days of GWB and have the DOJ give us the finger when we cry for help.

Lots of new faces here lately, because our Chips is a rockstar, so get involved, get busy any way you can. So many people here, so much important info posted here, we all need to engage any way we can. We don’t get a do over. We don’t get to say that we wished we worked just a little harder. This is our moment, this is our time, to move this country in the direction it was destined to be moved! Let’s do this thing!!!

WiW…maybe you could explain for the newcomers how they go about listing themselves in your state by state pushback. This is our own grassroots movement. LTE’s, media sites, state blogs, Tweeting, emails etc….all to get the message out and correct the lies and push the truth about this incredible President…..All Hands On Deck!

Thank you very much Chips, for this award. It means a great deal to me since I greatly admire and respect both men. I am also very appreciative because I always come here very late– usually when Amk is going to bed or is waking up — which means that I probably will never make it to being first! After all, I am basically on the Mexican border which means I am probably more than12hrs behind Amk.

Just to let you know, that photo brought back memories. In the late 1970’s, I was blessed to be able to meet, shake hands, and take a picture, with Muhammad Ali. He was, at the time, still quite young ( I was too) and in top form. Despite all his bravados before the cameras, in person he was genuinely one of the nicest, humble, and down to earth famous people I’ve met. It appears that the President felt the same way as I did when I got to shake his hand.

Thank you for running the best blog! I especially enjoy the mixture of humor and seriousness by you and all the very smart people who post comments here. I read everything. But since I am so longwinded I try to discipline my self not to comment all the time so as not take up valuable space; unless of course i feel passionately about an issue being discussed.

As we used to say in my younger days, Keep on Keeping on! And never lose or compromise your passion and your sense of humor!

Here’s what staffer Kirk Clay says about them in an article titled The New Majority is the future, and the future has arrived.
Today, PAC+, a new national network of leaders focused on democratizing money and politics to give voice to Americaโ€™s New Majority, will launch a television advertising campaign targeted at the Latino electorate. This is PAC+โ€™s first ad in Arizona, the center of the right wingโ€™s attack on Latinos, and the fastest growing sector of the New American Majority. The ad will be the first Latino-focused ad by an independent group this cycle…

โ€œRomney has acknowledged that โ€˜heโ€™s sunkโ€™ if he canโ€™t make inroads with Latinos. We intend to sink him, and to get the rest of the progressive community to join us,โ€ said Steve Phillips, Chairman of PAC+…

โ€œPAC+ will not allow Romneyโ€™s history of and continued disrespect of contributions of Latinos to our nation to be erased like an Etch a Sketch by his handlers, especially vis-ร -vis Latino voters. Romneyโ€™s words reflect his values and Latino voters must know what he truly thinks about the community and with whom he associates himself,โ€ said Phillips. โ€œPAC+โ€™s ad will remind voters of this important fact.โ€

    Game On, Shitster!

As for that poll being bandied about women voters have increased their support for repubs, therefore RObme, I don’t believe it, women are not stupid.(well not the majority of us).

I didn’t interpret it that way. I’ve been watching these dudes for a looong time and even heard Corny preach in Chicago. Make no mistake, these two have an agenda. All I’m saying is today they were markedly toned down and their subject was undeniable. As always it lacked a potential solution.
I think they just want to be invited to the WH to boost their street creds.

I have to share a story with you all.

This morning I had a doctor’s appointment for test. In the waiting room there were many people and we were all watching the tv that had some magazine show playing. On comes a scene from Jon Stewart’s show with FLOTUS. Of course the part that they chose to show was him talking about the President’s pot smoking years as a teenager. I apparently instinctively started shaking my head in disgust (I didn’t watch that interview because I cannot stand Jon Stewart). Now that waiting room was a melting pot of America. We had old, young, middle age, Black, White, Asian and Hispanic all waiting to have our test done.

An older white woman sitting next to me leaned over and said, “they must thing we are stupid”. I just smiled in response. Then a middle-age black man sitting across from me said, “we know the deal” and then winked at me ๐Ÿ™‚ The Hispanic woman to my right said, “they need to leave that man alone. He is doing a good job.” The Asian couple shook their heads in the affirmative and go back to reading their newspaper.

Now granted I was in the bluest of blue Washington, DC but my point of telling this story is that the public is paying attention and they aren’t buying our lazy, sloppy, good for nothing medias spin.

When I went in the back to have my test the technician said to me, “you know most people don’t come in here with a smile on their face. What’s got you in such a good mood”? I said, Oh nothing I just love my fellow Americans…he thought I was loony. Oh well….

What struck me today at the WH event was the vast difference in personalities between W and PBO. W is loud, full of bluster and that jaw tick he has is GROSS. His arrogance is in full display. PBO is so elegant and calm and grounded. He speaks in poetry compared to the blurting and butchering of the language from W. I had a terrible time watching him and couldn’t stand more than 5 minutes. Not-Breaking: Romney Lies

Given that Romney has so little material with which to criticize President Obama, it looks like he is going to try to fall back on the whole “stimulus dollars to Solyndra deal.” Michael Grunwald, who has just finished writing a book about Obama’s stimulus, points out the lies.

Iโ€™ve written about this before, and Iโ€™ll write about it again, but so far there have been fewer Solyndra-type failures than Congress expected. The Energy Departmentโ€™s controversial loan program has billions in excess reserves. The stimulus did not just promote one company or one technology or one pathway towards a clean-energy economy; it invested in all kinds of alternatives to fossil fuels, so they could battle it out in the marketplace.

You’d think that someone who constantly touts his experience in the “free enterprise system” would have a clue about this kind of thing. I suspect that Romney actually does. But honesty about that doesn’t seem to be part of his repertoire.

Obama Camp Hits Back Over Romneyโ€™s โ€˜Fโ€™ Grade

The Obama campaign has responded to a CBS News interview with Mitt Romney in which the Governor gave President Obama an โ€˜Fโ€™ grade on foreign policy, despite the killing of Osama bin Laden.

โ€œGovernor Romneyโ€™s comment assigning a grade to President Obamaโ€™s foreign policy is just as misguided and misinformed as his statement about Russia being our top geopolitical foe,โ€ said Ambassador Tim Roemer, a former ambassador to India, in an emailed statement. โ€

Since taking office, President Obama has responsibly ended the war in Iraq; decimated al-Qaedaโ€™s leadership, including Osama bin Laden; is winding down the war in Afghanistan; reduced the threat of nuclear weapons; strengthened our alliances; increased our exports overseas, creating jobs here at home; and led the world in putting crippling sanctions on Iran,โ€ Roemer added. โ€œGov. Romney is out of the mainstream even of his own party on foreign policy, and many prominent Republican experts have recognized President Obamaโ€™s accomplishments on these issues.โ€

So the rehabilitation of John Edwards by the old Edward supporters began right after the verdicts were read.

Wonder how soon will he begin running for office again and how soon the donations will begin to pour in again.

I don’t really care that Edwards was a cheatin’ scum, I don’t even care if he gave his jump off a job, but the idea that John Edwards and later on Elizabeth Edwards was perfectly comfortable running for President in today’s political climate with the shit on their backs pisses me off to no end and if that makes me unforgiving then too bad. I mean even after he ended his campaign, the Edwards camp was still lobbying Obama for his endorsement and to be on the ticket.

So sorry, F’em. Dont’ think he deserved to go to prison, but have no interest in seeing in public office anytime soon (His press conference at the end was basically a campaign speech)

    Byron did some actual reporting-

Obama to push veterans jobs initiative
By BYRON TAU | 5/31/12 8:00 PM EDT
President Obama will travel to Golden Valley, Minnesota on Friday to announce an executive action aimed at helping veterans find jobs, the White House announced.

“As thousands of our servicemen and women return from the end of the war in Iraq and the start of a responsible drawdown in Afghanistan, now more than ever we must fulfill our duty to them,” the White House said in a statement.

Obama will also call on Congress to take up his Veterans Job Corp legislation โ€”ย a proposal he first outlined in his January State of the Union address. Both efforts are aimed at helping veterans returning from war readjust to civilian life, by helping them find civilian employment.

Veterans issues have been an top priority for the administration and campaign, with the Chicago-based reelect accusing Obama’s Republican rival Mitt Romney of failing to offer a plan to help returning veterans โ€”ย a charge the Romney campaign strongly denied.

According to the administration, Obama’s new initiative will give up to 126,000 service members a shot at employment in the manufacturing sector, by helping them get credentials and certification for various manufacturing positions that are in demand across industries.

The latest initiative is part of the Obama administration’s “We Can’t Wait” campaign against congressional inaction and paralysis โ€”ย vowing to use executive orders and administration directives to circumvent the legislative gridlock when Congress won’t act.
