Thanks everyone! I just happened to click on TOD and saw a new post. I’d like to thank Chips and the TOD family for this honor of being first, “You like me, you really really like me”.
Madeleine Albright and Toni Morrison look good! I was a little surprised that Bob Dylan actually showed up, since he opposes government/authority, etc. – he must like President Obama. And I love the wink at the end – I can’t wait to watch this when I get home tonight!
I’m so glad that Bob Dylan attended to receive his Medal of Freedom. He’s crotchety, but I agree with you. I think he likes PBO, and certainly respects him.
Read, read, read and study….we need to be asking these questions of those people that think a better way is to support Romney…..or ANY Republican, for that matter!
1) Do you support eliminating the child tax credit?
2) Do you support eliminating the deduction for mortgage interest?
3) Do you support eliminating the National Weather Service and all of NOAA?
4) Do you support eliminating Pell Grants and student loans?
5) Do you support ending all federal spending on highways, air traffic control, and other forms of transportation?
6) Do you support shutting down FEMA?
7) Do you support shutting down federal prisons, the FBI, and other federal law enforcement agencies?
8) Do you support ending all foreign aid — including Israel?
9) Do you support eliminating NASA?
10) Do you support eliminating the FDA and all food safety inspections?
I’m thinking that clean air and water need to be in there somewhere, too….
A lot of people don’t know what these agencies do. We have to get very specific about the example so they can relate it to their own lives. And I think we also need to know Romney and the GOP’s record on all these things. How have they voted in the last three years, and in the past. What promises did they make during the primaries. Who’s funding their campaign(s) and what are they interested in? People tend to find a way to justify the abstract. But when the student whose pell grant is being taken away is that 15 year old in their family who’s getting ready to think about, or a company chooses not to open a plant int their town because of lack of infrastructure to get good to and from that town to the market – people start to see the connections.
Presidential Medal of Freedom Award Ceremony
Washington, DC
Tuesday, May 29, 2012
President Obama participated in an event honoring the 13 recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom in an East Room ceremony at the White House.
The Medal of Freedom is America’s highest civilian honor and recognizes exceptional meritorious service. It was created in 1963 by Former President John F. Kennedy through an Executive Order.
What an impressive group of accomplished people receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom! I was actually surprised about John Glenn because I assumed that he might have gotten the medal of freedom a long time ago. I am so happy that one of my favorite writers, Toni Morrison, received the Medal of Freedom. I’ve read all her books!
First?
