#PRESSON
Thank you, Bob:)
Congratulations, Df! Just before I left for work this morning I gave a heads up about just this scenario – the teacher TODobots who are now free to join in the race. 😆 A good start, Df!
Bringing this over from the last thread:
TWO WISCONSIN STATIONS DEVOTE MORE AIRTIME TO SCOTT WALKER SUPPORTERS | As the recall election of Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) nears, a media group is arguing that certain Wisconsin radio stations devote a disproportionate amount of air time to Walker’s fans, while effectively silencing supporters of Tom Barett, his opponent. The Media Action Center released a letter today saying that Wisconsin Recall radio coverage was extremely tilted toward Walker on two different stations — WISN and WTMJ, which are owned by the right-leaning media company Clear Channel. In one day alone, the group found that anti-Barret, pro-Walker rhetoric took up 49 minutes, while the reverse had only two minutes of airtime. The numbers were equally drastic for pro-Democratic verus anti-Democratic coverage. The Media Action Center sent their letter to the FCC, arguing that the stations are violating the Zapple Doctrine, which says stations must give equal amounts of free promotion to every candidate in the 60 days leading up to the election.
Clear Channel = Bain. Got It
Wisconsin is a multi-level test on whether the public can be mislead on polls and by the GOPMedia…. and whether or not they can steal it via e-voting.
Call me insane, but I still cannot for the life of me understand WHY this is not front page news – or being discussed ANYWHERE outside of this one article at Salon – http://www.salon.com/2011/09/27/votinghack/
It’s a dress rehearsal for what the ROVE/KOCHGOP™ will try in November.
So unless EVERYONE in WI SHOWS UP TO VOTE between now and Tuesday, they just might pull this off.
Seems odd to me that they’d only have one out-going phone number to use to make campaign calls. OFA would never do that. Besides, break out the cell phones, people…use Skype or Google Voice. Never be vulnerable to that tactic–ever.
THISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!
Exactly. My question yesterday was, these people did the gargantuan task of amassing millions of sigs for a recall. Walker hasn’t changed his ways, not one bit. Why are these voters NOT finishing the job they started? Now, I don’t know…Barrett may win and Walker may very well BE recalled….the people in WI HAVE to realize the out of state, dark money that is pouring in for Walker….they better all vote like their lives depend on it…BECAUSE THEY DO!
PRECISELY.
The article does not talk bout the fight back that is occuring around this…..what i keep in mind was the serious…SERIOUS…lift and organization that it took to get almost 1million signatures….i feel confident that there was a plan to address these issue…and get the job done…
i also keep in mind that the Press.. the left or right are always prediciting defeat….or some kind of negative spin….these WI folks better than anyone know what’s at stake….
Defeat is not an Option…
FORWARD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
WISN has been the home of the RW in Milwaukee for ages. WTMJ hasa mixture of programming, but all the talk show hosts are RW and more than willing to lie to their listeners. They are local commentators. Back in 2004 there was one liberal host but he was gone shortly after the 2004 election. Now they are all RWNJ’s. I remember one saying that the swiftboating of Kerry was appropriate as Kerry was using his military career as a selling point. OF course, that same host is now saying Bain should be off limis.
At least I made the top ten!
😆 Earlier on, Jackie, before I came. /patting on shoulder/ Good effort! 😉
Great article on the individual mandate: http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2012/05/what-a-nobel-prize-winning-economist-can-teach-us-about-obamacare/257576/

An excellent article. Thanks.
A very engaging article. Thanks for sharing it, Tally.

Maybe he should check with McCain how well that “going rogue” strategy worked out…

I hope everyone is doing well on this hot humid day.
Brainiac Marco Rubio equates voter ID laws with renting sports equipment. Yeah. Sure.

Jonathon Alter just told two lies.
1. Mitt got an academic deferment…
2. He is ahead 24 points with Veterans.
Please keep him off TV.
Jonathan has not done his homework. Virtually all college students received deferments during Vietnam until they flunked out, dropped out, or graduated. Willard dropped out of Stanford in 1966 after protesting in favor of the draft in May of that year, and received a deferment as a Mormon missionary to France. The infamous draft lottery was held on December 1, 1969. As anyone else in that era, Willard was free to join the military. There is no more of an example of a Vietnam draft dodger than Willard.
Hopefully, the MSM will ask Willard about his draft dodging before the election.
Jonathan Alter has really lost his way. I don’t understand the chnge in him.
Man has Alter lost his way, I can’t even stand to listen to him any more.

WHAT TOOK SO LONG??
FINALLY, SOMEBODY IS ASKING THE RIGHT FREAKING QUESTION. ROMNEY CRITICIZES AND CONDEMNS EVERYTHING PRESIDENT OBAMA DOES AND NEVER GIVES ANY SPECIFICS ABOUT WHAT HE WOULD DO. AND WHEN HE DOES GIVE HIS VAGUE POSITIONS IT’S ALWAYS IN AN OP-ED OR A SPEECH WHERE HE CAN’T BE CHALLENGED ABOUT HIS OUTLANDISH CLAIMS. HE WANTS TO BE PRESIDENT BUT HE IS AFRAID TO GO ON THE SUNDAY SHOWS W/O ANN. HOW IS HE GETTING AWAY WITH THIS? IT IS LONG PAST DUE FOR THE FECKLESS MEDIA TO DO THEIR JOB.
I’m tweeting this question.
I’m also seeing it in various tweets.
Chips
Digya get any video of Michelle Obama appearances today on “The View” and GMA ?

Heard on Madison per CBC:Congressional RW so hates the 1st family they would not allocate funds to fix plumbing in WH residence. #PBO paid.

further on this in the same thread:
Daltex82
Yes, I heard Mr. Joe Madison (the Black Eagle) talking about that this morning. He participated in a round-table event this past weekend (I believe it was some gathering of black trade union workers not sure) and members of the CBC spoke candidly about the tactics of the Rethuglicans, including them not allocating money for the plumbing to be upgraded at the First Family’s living quarters. Joe mentioned he would play this entire round-table talk some time this week.
I’ve heard that Obamas offered to pay for their own plumbing when they first moved in but they couldn’t because of some reason. Even though I think it’s them being childish and hateful (as usual) I won’t lose to much sleep over it.
Just when I think those dam Republicans couldn’t sink any lower, they manage to surprise me. Stupid racists bastards.
Hey does anyone have a link? A few days ago I read the actual disbursal amount of the stimulus (not including tax cuts, but actual outlays of dollars). does anyone else remember that and what the number was? It was REALLY law, like under $200B I think.
Help would be appreciated.
Jees, really “low” not really “law”.
I have this link.. to the youtube video, called “Did The Stimulus Work”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESFVnZZegXs&feature=player_embedded
thanks!
Thanks, but that isn’t what I was looking for (as wonderful as this video is).
I recently read the exact amount of dollars that went into the stimulus. Repubs throw around the 800B number, but a lot of that was tax cuts and credits. They do their phoney math with what an individual job costs, using the $800B number.
But the exact number that went into the economy was so low. It was not what PBO wanted but what he had to put up with to get any stimulus passed. But the meme persists that $800B was simply given away in stimulus, when the actual number was much, much lower.
Can’t find it and I’m still looking. If anyone remembers and can steer me in the right direction, thanks.
Okay, I found the original number: $225B in actual economic stimulus, the rest in tax cuts and aid to states (Actually, I can see including that aid, if it indeed saved a teacher’s or firefighter’s job, in that number.)
I believe the actual number is under $200B. Still looking……
http://www.cbo.gov/ ??
Thanks. Their numbers of actual spending are much higher than the number I read recently. And maybe that number was b.s. anyway.
You might find something on recovery.gov – they have lots of different info there about expenditure versus commitments.
He is SO SO SO amazing. How blessed we are! I am SO thrilled that he is the one presenting this award to Pat Summit.
I thought so also Tn.
A lot of trailblazing ladies were presented with awards today, which is a welcome and hard fought recognition for ladies and I am glad it is this President that sees the need to recognize them.
That Medal of Freedom ceremony was well worth the watch. The recipients were amazing!
yes it was very touching & what an eclectic group of achievers, very moving.
DO NOT mess with Stephanie Cutter!!!!!!!!!!!
“Mitt Romney’s continued embrace of Donald Trump and refusal to condemn his disgraceful conspiracy theories demonstrates his complete lack of moral leadership. Now he’s even standing by silently as Trump assails John McCain’s courage in standing up to the most extreme and hateful voices in the Republican Party—all in order to raise money for himself. If Mitt Romney lacks the backbone to stand up to a charlatan like Donald Trump because he’s so concerned about lining his campaign’s pockets, what does that say about the kind of president he would be?”
http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/obama-camp-trump-moment-shows-lack-of-moral?ref=fpa
She TOTALLY kicks ass and takes names!
I’m so glad she called Trump a charlatan – I’ve been calling him that name for a week now! That’s exactly what he is. I love Stephanie Cutter.
Put the drinks down BEFORE you read this. PRICELESS!!!
http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/wolf-blitzer-to-trump-youre-starting-to-sound
This PROVES that Donald is a freaking moron…honest to God. I hope that Mittens new BFF is the anvil around his neck I think he will be!
I can’t wait until Romney kisses Trump on the mouth!
I wish Wolf Blitzer had asked the Trump if he (Trump) had asked, and seen, Mitt Romney’s birth certificate? Since Mitt’s father George was born in Mexico, how do we know that he didn’t go to Mexico to be with his parents before his son Mitt was born? Obviously I am being ridiculous because this whole “birther” issue is laughable. It has absolutely nothing to do with where President Obama was born. It’s all about not wanting a President who is black. But even the bullies like Trump have no guts to come out and say what really bothers them about President Obama. They will never get over the fact that the majority of Americans overlooked color/race and voted for President Obama in an impressive victory. I have a hunch that up until the results were announced on Nov. 4, 2008, that Barack Obama had been elected President, people like Donald Trump, and many in the media, were still hopping for the so called “Bradley effect.”
These events remind me of how truly wonderful our country is and how gifted are our citizens. I also love seeing how much the president enjoys such ceremonies; how he knows about so many of the honorees because he had some personal experience/connection with their works that have illuminated his life and made him the man and the leader that he is. The small, loud, petty people who try to bring him and us down because of their jealousy are like sand in the wind; a brief sting and then blown away. The Medal of Freedom Honorees remind me of how proud I am to be an American and how great is our nation.
so nicely stated CEB, I absolutely agree with you.
Nicely said. I so agree.
Beautiful statement, CEB!
MSNBC is running the “Romney leading among veterans” lieover and over on its crawl. Have they no shame/integrity/common sense, etc?
short answer: none.
Oh, and Jonathan Alter works for Michael Bloomberg. No more need be said.

Mark Knoller thought Bob Dylan looked uncomfortable standing beside PBO. Oh dear.
Thats what Knoller got out of this ceremony? What a pathetic pos hack he is.
He’s something else, sherijr.
He hates the spotlight, Knoller you twit.
Think the idiot Knoller needs to hear from Snark.
😉
Yep, Dylan always hated the spotlight. How old is Knoller, twelve years old?
Please Margie, don’t insult all the twelve years old children. My twelve year old grand niece already knows so much about U.S. and world history. Before commenting, she would have first googled Bob Dylan to learn more about who he is; something Knoller apparently did not do.
Is this what Knoller does for a living? Tweet.

Rick Scott Will Now Purge Florida Further into Madness
By Charles P. Pierce at 12:31PM
You may recall the 2000 presidential election. Huge and loud? Lots of ill-feeling and incivility abroad in the land? Produced someone who finally got James Buchanan into a photo finish for Worst President Ever? It became a big honking deal at least in part because the Florida Secretary of State, Katherine Harris (R-Max Factor), contracted with an Atlanta company to “purge” the state’s voter rolls of convicted felons and, coincidentally, of anyone with a name that was similar to that of a convicted felon. This is how we ended up with pastors from Miami being barred at the voting booth because they had the same first name as some car thief from Lakeland. I, myself, decided against voting illegally in Florida that year for fear I’d be confused with Charlie Manson.
Old dog, as the saying goes, still hunts.
This time, of course, it’s Governor Rick “Bat Boy” Scott doing all this, and not a presidential candidate’s little brother, and it’s about illegal immigrants and not about convicted felons, and one Secretary of State already has resigned. In related news, Republicans continue their assault on the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which, as we can plainly see by the governor’s actions in Florida, is a superannuated relic of a bygone era.

Can anyone please explain why veterans are allegedly bending toward Mitt who has promised to privatize veterans healthcare, over President Obama who has fought so hard for their interests? WTF is going on? Is it just terrible polling sample or are these veteran folks nihilist, purely tribal, racist or what? I don’t get it. Is it Romney’s whiteness and undeserved assumption of competence? They want more war with Iran that Willard has promised? Why
This sickens me. We really do have a lot of work to do. Wake up America!
Two weeks passed and then they had a change of heart. Yeah right. Somebody had better tell them to stop sending money to the President’s campaign then.
zizi–It isn’t true. Pollsters rig polls all the time.
Check out Chips video on this from yesterday:) No worries…they are lying POS….
David Frum gets into the foodie theme of the day ….
Had to acknowledge … 😉
#PRESSON
Bobfr,
Could you please tweet this very important question that the mainstream media has neglected to ask while Mitt Romney is criticizing everything President Obama does. It’s easy to criticize in op-eds and speeches. Romney is such a coward. I found his comments on Syria repulsive. Any presidential candidate with an ounce of integrity would not be butting in on such a critical foreign policy crisis. I am outraged by Romney’s cavalier attitude about world affairs. It’s shocking that he is not getting more condemnation for his reckless remarks.
What Would Romney Have Done In January 2009?????
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/post/what-would-romney-have-done-in-january-2009/2012/05/29/gJQATfTSzU_blog.html
(See desertflower’s post up thread.)
Wow! David Frum! Thanks BOB. the quack has long past lived up to his name.
Hi TODobots! I is in the house and ready to see what I missed today. I think I’ll work my way backwards from this thread. See you later. 😆
Bob was right when he sang “The Times They Are a-Changing.” They sure have.
Another good TPV piece
http://www.thepeoplesview.net/2012/05/barack-obamas-betrayal-of-progressive.html
The comment by David Frum shows the desperation of GOP insiders about Romney and his embrace of Trump. I had a big belly laugh from that one. ” a steaming plate of shit spaghetti” That defined Donald Trump pretty well.
davidfrum @davidfrum
That was a big steaming plate of shit spaghetti Trump just deposited on CNN for his supposed friend Romney

This is priceless! It should be re-tweeted over and over again.
Photo of the day ?
That’s hysterical.
The House will vote this week on legislation imposing criminal penalties on anyone performing an abortion based on the sex of the child, but the measure runs the risk of failing on the floor because of how the GOP is calling it up.
Republican leaders have scheduled a vote on H.R. 3541, the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (PRENDA), under a suspension of House rules, which will require a two-thirds majority vote for passage. Suspension votes are usually reserved for non-controversial bills, but Republican leaders have occasionally used the process for bills that Democrats oppose, and the PRENDA bill appears to be one of those.
Democratic opposition to the bill began with its original name, the Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass Prenatal Non-discrimination Act. Democrats argued in February that while the bill was named after these civil rights heroes, it has nothing to do with protecting civil rights.

But but but we Only want to talk about the Economy? Right!
The White House aimed Tuesday to squash comparisons between Mitt Romney’s tenure at Bain Capital and the administration’s financial support for green energy companies that have struggled, including the bankrupt solar firm Solyndra.
http://thehill.com/video/administration/229905–wh-haltingly-disputes-solyndra-bain-capital-comparison
Obama campaign spokeswoman Lis Smith accused Romney of opposing renewable energy development while casting the president as fighting to ensure the U.S. doesn’t cede green energy markets to China.
“As Governor, Romney called for a moratorium on offshore wind energy in Massachusetts, which would have severely hampered the development of that clean energy and impacted job growth across the state,” Smith said in a statement, referring to the planned Cape Wind project off the Massachusetts coast.
Smith also defended the embattled Energy Department loan program, noting its bipartisan roots, and other White House investments in alternative energy. The 2009 stimulus law steered tens of billions of dollars into various alternative energy and efficiency programs.

Lis Smith needs to get on Tv!
