Tropical storm Beryl is 45 miles off the coast of N E Fla. Lots of rain, some bridges have been closed, few power outages so far. Most people are smart enough to stay inside. Keep us and others up the coast in Georgia and South Carolina in your thoughts.
Finally, some good analysis of what may be going on in Wisconsin based on factual reporting. Kay is the best of all the front pagers at BJ when it comes to on the street posting about campaign workers and foot soldiers. Here’s her take on the WI recall and I happen to agree with her.
Good to know, Bob! I’ve been following what DWS has been tweeting via different web sites and really glad she’s going in to Wisconsin..like we all CARE About What Happens!
I’m sure they’ll dig it, Chips … and that last ‘gesture’ couldn’t have been better!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 What a little toughie, though if my dad or mom had caught me doing that, even at a much older age, my butt would still be burning ….
Well, yes, it has to be said, you’re never shy about coming forward. Which, of course, is one of the reasons why you would be as edible as BBQed ribs if nibbled. That’s not a threat, I’m just sayin’.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was YOU????!! You are still a goddess:) Thank you for fixing that though….you wouldn’t want it spread far and wide otherwise. You are the bees knees, too! hugs and kisses.
LOL chips. Here I was ‘trolling’ the last thread with bwd’s gopolitico vid tweet. If that tau guy was in front of me now, I would slap that stupid smile off his stupid face.
Been a lovely holiday weekend so far, enjoying time with family and friends. On an Obama note, all I see are Obama/Biden bumper stickers — today I saw some of the new Vintage ones, which are really cute, and I even saw an “I Bark for Obama” sticker featuring Bo and his adorable self. 😛
Thanks for running a tight, steady ship, Captain Chips. You’re the best. ♥ ♥ ♥
We have driven thru Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, parts of New York and Ct. and are halfway back home——-still not one sign that Romney is a presidential candidate—–not one bumper sticker, nothing anywhere.
It’s remarkable, though Seattle is very blue the other side of the lake, i.e., Bellevue, is bright red – saw one Ron Paul bumper sticker last week; zero Romney.
I think most Americans will not focus on the election til Sept….but is good that the voter registration continues…to be prepared for the onslaught ….to have the ground game in place….i think that we must be ready for the barage that will come from the right…i do not underestimate the power that will have….
but i believe that if we fight back hard and strong…..and forge bonds among all of our allies…unions…women’s movement/civil/human rights movement…..WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS….
to lose is UNFANTHOMABLE……WE MUST MOVE FORWARDDDDDDDDDDDD>>>>>>>>>
Yeah, I see no sign of Romney anywhere. I see more outdated McCain stuff than Romney, lol. Ron Paul stuff used to be more visible, but I haven’t seen much lately. Local republican candidates have more visibility than presidential — but even there, I’m seeing US Senate candidate Tim Kaine stuff quite a bit….
Oh, and gas is down to $3.34 — woooooOOOOOooooooot!!!!! 😛 😛 😛
Watching the last scenes of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, my favorite of the original Indiana Jones Trilogy, then off to bed. So here’s an early good night
Great GOPolitico vid—-who did it? I cannot figure out why msnbc and all other outlets take whatever garbage GOPolitico throws out there and report it as gospel. WHY? There is little to no truth or honesty in what they’re reporting, and who decided they were some elite, final-word political source? And why? It defies reason.
Oh, hi – just seeing this. YES!!! I watched the commencement address by FLOTUS in NC. She was beyond remarkable. Every graduating student across the country should get to hear that speech. The “three questions” she asked herself, and suggested they ask themselves, about not just “what” they are going to be in life, but “who” – well, that was such good advice, it was … REMARKABLE!
Chris Hayes said that? I’m too tired to look for the context, but I’m appalled, in advance. Let me take a wild guess that he wasn’t brave enough to volunteer for the military, but feels he can criticize fallen military heroes based on some ideology? It’s a parallel universe we live in, when someone of my generation who had to live through the awful treatment our military fighting in Vietnam had to endure when they returned, to seeing our country “learn its lesson” and resolve not to treat the military that way again (with disparaging remarks and worse), and now we’re back to square one? Just as we are on civil rights, women’s reproductive rights, unions … back to freakin’ square one? Appalling.
I cannot wait to see President Obama at the Tomb of the Unknowns tomorrow, as well as the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, to make everything seem right with the world again, even just for a few hours on Memorial Day, where we show respect for our fallen military heroes because they helped to guarantee the freedom we all have to make asses out of ourselves (I’m looking at you, Chris Hayes) on a daily basis.
Jacquelineoboomer, I heard Chris Hayes’s comment, but it was not clear what he was trying to say. However, I did not feel it was meant as a pejorative towards veterans.
I served in Vietnam and have in no way consider myself a hero. We were fighting for our buddies not our country. I have always believed that the military was being used by two self serving, incompetent, dishonest administrations. From my experience the bulk of the protests were directed towards the Johnson and Nixon administrations not the returning veterans.
One of the biggest regrets from the Vietnam era is that the political scene of our generation has been dominated by chickenhawks. Gore and Kerry are the only two Vietnam veterans who have run for President, and Kerry, who was a true hero, had his service used against him by the chickenhawk, Bush.
Willard, probably the last of the Vietnam generation to run for President, is the biggest insult of all. To have protested in favor of the draft at Stanford and then to have run off to France as a Mormon missionary to dodge the draft demonstrates he has absolutely no values. He went on to make millions as a vulture capitalist, and as recently as last week was belittling PBO for being a community organizer. If Willard were to defeat PBO, who has more character than any president in my lifetime and possiibly in history, it would put a final cap on the Vietnam generation and signal the downfall of our country.
Bill – Thanks for serving our great country (and for your comments here). I was speaking out for fallen heroes, from what I thought was said (even though I stressed I didn’t have the context), but I very much realize that none of the brave men and women who are walking among us and who fought in the military consider themselves heroes. Which is another reason why, to me, you are ALL heroes.
Christi–To say you’re uncomfortable with calling fallen military heroes is to announce to the world that you are an unfeeling jerk. Chris Hayes needs to walk in the shoes of a Gold Star family for one day and feel the anguish and the loss. He needs to talk to military men and women who have seen a team member die. Most of all, he needs to grow up and put a lid on his bloating ego.
I noticed in his short bio on Twitter and Politico, he wrote this….NOT Canadian….haha…”NOT” in cap letters….I didn’t know it was a bad thing to be Canadian…
Thank you, Your Chipness:) Much better…I can sleep now, knowing that this is fixed, but more importantly….that he got the “one finger salute” he deserves:) Brava!!
Good one, AMK. That is all they’ve got. My technologically challenged sister used to send all her e-mails to me in capitals. I said to her, why are you always shouting at me and , of course, she didn’t realize what she was doing or how it appeared.
Like the way you updated it…Muchas Gracias Chips & Salsa!
Willard would know all about denying basic human rights wouldn’t he?
P.S. my email has an exclaimation point before it and it changes the color of my avatar from black and white this current one which I like the change of it being more colorful..but, it still goes through without the “Moderation” warning. Just a little fyi tidbit on the working of TOD’s wordpress. *_*
Great video. Poor Byron. Must suck to be such a clueless tool.
Just checking in. Prepped for a barbecue all day, then barbecued, and now I’m exhausted. We were going to take the in-law units to the Camarillo outlet mall tomorrow, but then sanity prevailed. So tomorrow will be spent close to home, where I hope to be able to be online more. Keep the porch light on till I return.
Ethical journalistic giants lol….I think it’s the best form of pushback….mockery and ridicule……I think it’s more efficient than anger because they really don’t care, they love these angry tweets, they feel like they scored each time.
BUt…laughing at them touch their enormous egos……..
Good luck, amk! I’ve been there and done that. In the end, I had to respect my daughter’s choice. After all, she was the one who had to put in the years. And to be fair, my parents had no say about which college I went to. They were just happy that I was the second person in my family to get the opportunity to attend college. Any way, I hope that your son gets to choose a college that he likes. If he inherited some of your intellect and sense of humor I am certain that he will do very well at any college.
I’m EXTREMELY late to this thread and so far have only read your piece at the top, CC, but as a result here’s a GIGANTIC HUG for you {CHIPS CHICA}, and a HUGE “THANK YOU” from the bottom of my heart! In the famous words of Christine O’Donnell: “I’m not a witch. I’m you.’ VC

Terence Flynn, a Republican member of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), is stepping down, the agency announced on Sunday.
A statement from the NLRB said that Flynn had submitted a resignation letter to President Obama and Mark Pearce, the labor board’s Democratic chairman, on Saturday.
Well Chips Chica, you seem to have returned from your ‘real’ work energized and refocused, and I’m impressed by the ‘style’ and quality of your output. 😉 Thanks! Blessings your way, ALWAYS!
I’m off to sleep, to recoup my energies so that I can hound you for my THREE undelivered awards for this past week.
Good Night TODobots who are still awake and Sweet Dreams to everyone!
I was having lunch and changing channels when I watched a little of Frank Luntz’s show on Fox. Looks like a Jerry Springer show on Politics. Couldn’t help but laugh when I saw him ask for Herman Cain’s advice (of which he didn’t have any, just talking points) knowing how Colbert treats Cain as a village idiot side act. Luntz’s pollsters were interesting. The Dems in the group were alot more informed about facts and weren’t afraid to dispute what a congressman or other audience member said. The Repubs in the group, sounded like paid robots who were told to simply give right-wing points without any thought or relevancy to what was asked.
My final take on it, if they think Government is broken and doesn’t work for the country, then they need to vote PBO and ALL Dems in to government. Repubs can continue their game of backstabbing each other in the private sector, they are UNFIT to SERVE.
But but but The Bishops, Miss Ann, Hillary Rosengate, enthusiasm gap, leave Bain alone, Bookergate, and now Syriagate.
All Republican Distractions- to which they swear on a LDS Bible, that they only want to concentrate on the Economy.
Whatever!
I miss them too. I’m always focusing on something else, or come in too late. Oh, well, there is certainly no shortage of trolls around the the net on any given day. So congrats to Chips for nipping it in the bud here.
Another great news. My brother’s son also passed out of high school (different board of education from my son’s) today with 95%. Both the boys gave nightmares to their moms what with their computer games and nintendos and general laziness. We are all glad the high school nightmare moments are over for now till my brother’s other son passes out in another 3 years. But he is the smartest (and wittiest) of the bunch and so hopefully his mom can breathe a bit easier. Being the last in our next generation, he is also the favorite of all. 🙂
Drivers heading south from Washington on Interstate 95 for the start of the traditional summer tourism season this weekend will be driving on what traffic tracking firm INRIX calls the fourth worst highway in America.
They will also be leaving behind negotiations in Congress on a possible transportation funding bill that some observers say could come to a standstill just as quickly as the traffic they will likely encounter over the long holiday weekend.
HOwdy O’s!!!
What a great evening in TOD-town
Hi cook!
Well, look at you! Congrats on first, cookemom!
Wow I’m shocked.

Oh, and I gave some special attention the good Mayor of LA in back to back tweets ….

Well, yes, couldn’t leave David Gregory out of the messaging 🙂 But, here’s the direct missive to the Mayor who dropped a stupid bomb earlier today …
#PRESSON
You are MORE than awesome:)
I have to admit that it took me a while to understand how vulture capitalism works….it’s complex and the fact that it is legal is depressing.
For me this ad is the best so far…….thanks for your AMAZING work on Twitter Bobfr
I laugh every time I see one of your tweet addressed to Romney….you always start with ”YO” lol
Thanks Christi!! I’m sure he’ll really dig this one …
If you check my TL, you’ll see that Chips’ mastery has been shared with others 😀

Keep up the great work, Bob. You rock, man!

Thanks. So far little damage, but the worst of the storm will come in the wee hours. My immediate area is only experiencing the rain.
Stay safe.

MAHALOS, CHIPS! Mariela said she’d vote for PObama! Horrors! lol…you’ve got your hands full exposing gopolitical, Chips.

Holy s..t. This was your making Chips???
I should have known. Well done, my lady. Kisses.
Are you propositioning me in a slightly forward manner, amk?
LOL. I have always been known to speak my mind, haven’t I ? 🙂
Well, yes, it has to be said, you’re never shy about coming forward. Which, of course, is one of the reasons why you would be as edible as BBQed ribs if nibbled. That’s not a threat, I’m just sayin’.
Unfortunately I am a lean, mean machine. You will be left with only sticks and bones. 🙂
You guys are killin’ me.
Daymn, I missed my calling to be a mormon. 🙂
I actually missed that, this is the funniest thing I ever read lol…oh Chips….you’re hilarious
amk too I might add…..you two are just too much.

jacquelineoboomer, did you get the chance to listen to FLOTUS on C-Span tonight at 10pm when she spoke at N.C. A&T? What did you think?
Oh, hi – just seeing this. YES!!! I watched the commencement address by FLOTUS in NC. She was beyond remarkable. Every graduating student across the country should get to hear that speech. The “three questions” she asked herself, and suggested they ask themselves, about not just “what” they are going to be in life, but “who” – well, that was such good advice, it was … REMARKABLE!
From what I saw on Twitter, I wasn’t the only one who wondered why Chris Hayes was trending for a while…..a lot of push back for that comment:
Chris Hayes: I’m ‘Uncomfortable’ Calling Fallen Military ‘Heroes .
Nobody likes wars, it’s horrible, …well unless you’re a war monger like so many on the far right…but in general of course nobody likes wars.
But these men and women do sacrifice a lot and some the ultimate sacrifice…..
They sure as hell deserve that title as far as I’m concerned.
But but but The Bishops, Miss Ann, Hillary Rosengate, enthusiasm gap, leave Bain alone, Bookergate, and now Syriagate.
All Republican Distractions- to which they swear on a LDS Bible, that they only want to concentrate on the Economy.
Whatever!
How do I always miss the troll drama?
I always seem to miss it too, oh well.
Time for bed, goodnite all.
I missed everything today… Looks like I’m in good company! 🙂
The shenanigans of the corrupt alec was the subject of ope-ed today in India’s leading newspaper.
Powerful U.S. corporations have been writing bills themselves and giving them to state assemblies to rubber-stamp

Dear alec, congrats are in order ?
Drivers heading south from Washington on Interstate 95 for the start of the traditional summer tourism season this weekend will be driving on what traffic tracking firm INRIX calls the fourth worst highway in America.
They will also be leaving behind negotiations in Congress on a possible transportation funding bill that some observers say could come to a standstill just as quickly as the traffic they will likely encounter over the long holiday weekend.

So, no highway bill! To many riders that are insisted upon, by House Republicans, like getting rid of regulations for Coal ash! SMH!
Happy Memorial Day! Gotta get those Hot Dogs and Hamburgers out…
I’m first in line for a hot dog and burger. And while I’m at it, I’ll also claim #1 spot for the Rise & Shine thread 🙂
Thanks!

Helloooooooooooo Hopefruit, sorry you had to wait so long for your prize!!!
The first reaction when I saw the photograph was:
“I almost cut my hair”
(Well, that just shows my age, I think).
Chips this video you made was AWESOME. I’m sure it was great to get that message out and great fun making it.
