Very similar in tone and spirit to President Obama, Zakarias emphasizes the positive, the relative peace in the world, strength of American people enriched by our immigrants. Such a contrast to the dyspeptic Romney and GOP. A good read

Romney only wishes people lined up in the rain and waited for him to appear and speak to them the way they do for PBO. That has GOT to stick in his craw. Pics like these expose the RW and MSM lie that PBO isn’t admired by people of all racial and ethnic groups, and the republicans can’t stand it. Compare any of the pics where PBO is speaking to those where Romney is speaking, and it’s not too difficult to see that PBO’s groups look like a slice of the American society while Romney’s don’t. As a POC, I wouldn’t feel comfortable attending a Romney event.

Light suit with glasses is Phila Mayor Michael Nutter. Dark suit, blue tie dude is Phila District Atty Seth Williams. He was a very early supporter of Pres. Obama, even when Mayor Nutter was supporting Sec’y Clinton. He went out on a limb then, because at the time he was the city’s Inspector General. They’ve been on the same stage for a while, but I’m definitely glad to see them united on this non-sense.

Let’s just say that whoever is ‘advising’ Myth R-money is doing a great job. I hope they keep it up. Seriously, I really do.

PLEASE keep advising him to go charter schools in poor, black neighborhoods, please keep advising him to go to schools that have done no better, and often done worse, than the public schools that they took over. PLEASE, PLEASE, keep visiting schools that are run by people that know nothing about education.

Please let him keep thinking that he can relate to black people by contrasting a single mom in a shelter with a couple of kids with a mom and a dad who are home for dinner every night.

Yeah, Myth R-money advisor, PLEASE keep doing this.

Chips – a VERY SPECIAL THANKS for these pictures

Our OFA team held a phone bank last night contacting Iowa Dems inviting them to this event. I made 45 calls, reached 10 folks who all said they would vote for PBO – but none of them were going to the rally. When I saw the rain I got a bit worried. Now seeing the pictures and watching the video chant of 4 more years I feel like it was worth all the calls. Relieved again, this blog can be so soothing….

What would they both be doing with a baby at this age, cute though it might seem in theory? IMO after his stint at governance, both M & B need to just focus on each other and their girls heading into young adulthood. More parenting will come later as grand parents.

A US Senate panel has cut $33m (ยฃ21m) in aid to Pakistan in response to the jailing of a Pakistani doctor who helped the CIA find Osama Bin Laden.

The Senate Appropriations Committee has said it will cut US aid by $1m for each year of Shakil Afridi’s sentence.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said his term was “unjust and unwarranted”.

Dr Afridi was tried for treason under a tribal justice system for running a fake vaccination programme to gather information for US intelligence.

Personally, I think President Obama meant a pile of shit.

In his exhaustive essay On Bullshit, Princeton philosopher Harry G. Frankfurt distills its essence: โ€œWhile liars need to know the truth to better conceal it, bullshitters, interested solely in advancing their own agendas, have no use for the truthโ€ฆ. It is just this lack of connection to a concern with truthโ€”this indifference to how things really areโ€”that is the essence of bullshit.โ€

Is it possible that Mitt is actually more of a bs-er than a liar?

Isonprize, I would be right there seconding you because the two — lying and bullshitting — are not mutually exclusive.

however…that was a chilling segment on how money can tip the scales….and that the only organizations that can somewhat compete with corporate money are the UNIONS…..and that most of the unions are located in the public sector….hence the Repub attack on public workers…..

we have got to win in WI….

Ha! I say let ’em keep wasting their time and resources. Black folks are people, just like everybody else–policy matters; and, it takes years to establish that trust, or destroy it. Republicans have destroyed it, and continue to, with their policies (and, not to mention their overt and covert racism as well–which has become ever-more evident since an African-American family has been in the white house). A few months of “undercover”, so-called “reaching out” isn’t going to change that dynamic.

every time a birther questions the legitimacy of the President….every time a Senator calls the First Lady out of her name…..a stake is driven thru the heart of the African American Community….

we are not fooled by empty rhetoric and fake actions…

โ€˜We have a ritual where he tucks me in, because Iโ€™m usually in bed before anybody. Heโ€™ll come and turn the lights out and give me a kiss and weโ€™ll talk. Heโ€™s like, โ€œReady to be tucked?โ€ Iโ€™m like, โ€œYes I am.โ€โ€˜

President Obama is sure making it hard for us menfolk. This a tough act to follow! Nevertheless, we need to emulate his example of how to maintain, and foster, a loving relationship.

This is so sweet. I love my President and his family. I really didn’t know much about the First Lady until after she became the First Lady, but I’ve grown to love her so much. I have to go hug my husband after reading that.
