PJ, collegekay, I noticed that immediately as well. I was thinking to myself that he was so into what she was saying and how she was holding up during her introduction. His eyes of compassion, I saw. I also saw thoughts of his mother written all over his face as he looked on. Thinking of her time while she was ill. All of this is so real for this beautiful soul, our wonderful president, POB. It is just so sweet to the spirit, I think.HZ

I posted at the end of the last thread that the PBO turncoat, Jamie Dimond, of JP Morgan Chase announced that his bank lost $2 billion trading derivatives in their London office. He said the loses could be bigger. Diamond along with Willard have been complaining about the new banking regulations. This is big.

        probably. It’s their MO

They will certainly never concede that it was due to the austerity measures they were clamoring to enact here. Thank goodness for PBO and 111 congress (led by Nancy Smash of course) If we had this congress, we would be even worse off given our larger population and housing market.

        • 44 Bill
          May 10, 2012 at 7:43 pm

LunarSea, I don’t think this was directly tied to the European austerity measures. Much of the international derivative trading is done in London, and these trades were done to hedge the bank’s own trading operations. It is the perfect argument we have been hearing against banks trading their in-house money.

Willard is not ready for this.

Another vetting article, this time courtesy of our friend Charles Pierce at Esquire:

    http://www.esquire.com/blogs/politics/mitt-romney-bully-8732543#ixzz1uVFrwxyV

    This paragraph alone is stellar:

Nobody who watched him use Massachusetts as a stepladder to where he is today can be surprised that, today, we have two garish examples of the fact that, for all his success in business and his well-manicured family raised on his well-manicured lawns, Romney is essentially an entitled fopdoodle who divides the world into two classes, Himself and The Help, and who is running for president because his golden life has taught him the essential lesson that there is nothing in the world he can’t charm and/or money-whip into his pocket if he really, really wants it.

Oh yeah, and there’s the little bit about how his son, Tagg, and his wife just had a kid via in vitro fertilization — while Willard is a supporter of those personhood amendments, which would ban such procedures.

The ugliness runs deep on this guy. Worst candidate ever.

    • May 10, 2012 at 7:30 pm

Yep, the MSM really doesn’t care about who they have in their sights. They are after the most bang for their buck. Once they get you in their sights and it’s a news cycle winner, then tag…you’re it. The brilliance of the PBO campaign is to keep Willard in their sights by a slow leak of stuff Willard has to defend every other day. I’m just wondering why Willard’s campaign has put Anne on mothballs. She sure can’t ever talk about him being wild and crazy again. We know what he calls a barrel of laughs.

Lilacs, huh? I have 70 lilac shrubs on our little farm here. They’re blooming right now, look lovely, smell even lovelier. My husband and kids and I planted them. Some of them are over eight feet tall. All of them are full of blossoms. Thanks for the reminder, Anne or Ann or Whoever. My husband doesn’t have to give me lilacs for mother’s day or my birthday, they’re here already, and so is he — a kinder more gentle man was never born.

And my husband never led assaults on schoolmates or shouted insults at them. In fact, if it had happened and he had been around, Mitt and his friends would have been the ones assaulted. He was awarded a runner-up as Junior Mr. Utah when he was 17. Ah, halcyon days! He still lists weights, Mitt, but he’s got a bit hairy, and he’s almost 20 years older than you, so just don’t be around when he starts fuming about your “youthful pranks and high jinks”. He tends to forget about being kind and gentle over some things.

Have any of you compared your husbands or brothers to this bully, Mitt? We’ve all compared him to our greatestPresidentIn70Years, Barack Obama. I can’t believe this loon thinks he can step into Barack’s shoes. He truly does have rocks in his head.

Why do I find this woman so boring. She keeps talking about this mother thing as if she’s the only one who’s ever done it and the only one who found it difficult. I don’t care about her years as a mother anymore than she cares about mine or any other woman in the country. She’s like the person who sits next to you on a plane or a bus and can’t stop talking about themselves and repeating the same things over and over again. Yawn.

JG, I so appreciate your comments on this article. Notice I didn`t say anything about it? I read both it and the comments and was not moved in the least. In fact I could see no reason for some of the gushing comments so I figured her writing style was just too brilliant for the likes of me to understand. There was not one part of her ‘mother’ experiences that touched ANYTHING in me, and there was more than one time I felt somewhat critical of her actions/tale. Sorry, but AnnD just isn’t going to make it as my First Lady. I guess I’ve taken a visceral dislike to her much as I did the Princess Diana replacement. Well, to be accurate, he’s going to tax 75% on earnings over 1 million euros. But still. London is preparing for an influx of the French rich escaping that evil Socialist.

      • 147 carolyn
        May 10, 2012 at 8:28 pm

About as soon as the French get to London, Cameron will be unseated and the same thing will happen in England. This will be interesting to watch and see how it shakes out. From what I heard, Cameron is circling the wagons and vowing to stay on the austerity trail. The Brits will be sidetracked for a while with the Queen’s jubilee and the Olympics, but when the party’s over and the special occasion jobs are gone, it could get interesting. From my experience, costs are much higher in London than in Paris. Living is better in Paris.

The key will be if the backbench LibDems revolt. Basically the coalition was forced through by Clegg. A lot of the LibDem backbenchers weren’t too happy, but went along to get a taste of power. Now LibDem poll ratings are in the sewer, they were crushed in the local elections, and will be lucky to even make it into Parliament after the next general. The foot soldiers might look to save their own necks, bring down the govt, and take their chances with new elections after such an act of “bravery”.

Right!? There’s going to be a new class of refugee escaping the horrors of socialism. Do you think they will get a refugee camp going in Piccadilly? I can see it now: Arabian tents with flowing screens of eggshell coloured 400 thread silk, Persian rugs, dining tables with butlers serving Perrier in fluted glasses. They will be living the hard live in refugee camps.

The tax rate is for people making over 1M Euros a year. The tax rate under Eisenhower was about 70% or so; so this is nothing new. The cost of living in London is higher. If they go to London it won’t help them. They should pay their fair share. The middle and working class can’t be made to shoulder all the burdens. It’s unfair on them.

President Barack Obama will be back in New York fundraising June 4, returning to a Great White Way venue he visited almost five years ago, this time with former president Bill Clinton in tow. From Capital’s Reid Pillifant:

The event is titled “Barack on Broadway,” which is recycled from an event Obama did at the same theater in September of 2007.

It’s a relatively low-dollar affair by fund-raiser standards, with maximum tickets going for $1,000 and discount $100 tickets for “Gen44 Young Professionals.” (The theater seats right around 1,800 people.)

Obama has reportedly profited from his endorsement of same-sex marriage yesterday, with one local bundler telling me it will be “immeasurably easier” raising money now.

she can’t be for real. did she actually watch the interview? he said that he had already made up his mind, but he was trying to figure out a way to say it without it causing too much of a fuss. where is she getting that “Obama felt ‘rushed'” where is she getting her information? She had no problem supporting him when he was evolving, but now that he’s evolved, she has a problem with the supposed speed at which he backed gay marriage. Plus, he doesn’t have a problem with gay rights, he’s done more to preserve, protect and expand those. He was evolving on gay marriage. This heifer better not play with me. I’m calling some bull. I hope this is her stupid sense of humor and nothing else.

      • May 10, 2012 at 9:09 pm

They are still pushing that lie? Or are there folks mad that Pres.Obama chose to do a big fundraiser with George Clooney and gave him equal billing?

        • May 10, 2012 at 9:57 pm

No, it was a hatchet job about how very, very, disappointed Hollywood producers, etc, are in him as POTUS. Really over-the-top.

I just found the article again but I don’t want to link it. It’s at BuzzFeed and it’s called:

          How Barack Obama Lost Hollywood
Last time they fell in love, volunteered, gave millions, but now โ€œthey hate him.โ€ Can gay pride and a Clooney bash make his star twinkle again?

seriously? so how comes they just paid a lotta money to go shmooze with him tonight? I can’t stand hollywood. Especially drive-by politics hollywood:They don’t really know anything about politics, they just latch on to what the new it-thing or it-person is. If this heifer isn’t joking–and this would be a poor joke indeed— then she would prove my point. There should be a sign on the ballot boxes at each polling place from Hollywood to Scranton: “Idiots Need Not Vote.” She can suck it. She isn’t even funny anyway.

it turned negative because Sarah doesn’t know what she’s talking about. If she were paying attention to this administration, she would know it’s the most pro-gay admin ever. She’d also know that PBO has always supported gay rights and even endowing the LGBT population will all the rights associated with marriage, only he didn’t support them using the word marriage as it has a lot of religious and cultural connotations. My mom is the same way. she thinks that the LGBT pop should get all the rights straight committed people have except she doesn’t want them to call it marriage. Sarah Silverman needs to educate herself before she starts lobbing bombs. she only winds up sounding like the biggest idiot alive. which I’m beginning to believe she is. Even Kim K. went all in for PBO’s support of SSM. Kim K of all people!!! Kim K!!!!!

Oh, by the way, guys… When North Carolina voted on a certain amendment this Tuesday, my county voted Against by 50.8% to 49.2%.

Our “demographics” are complex — we were one of about three mountain NC counties to go for President Obama in 2008, but are 90+% White, but have a large State University and have so few ethnic minorities in our town because…

We’re a somewhat secluded town that was a hub in the Underground Railroad. Our local Mennonite church was up to its eyeballs in the abolitionist movement, to the extent that their local branch became African-American. (Owing to the constant influx of people escaping slavery who thought Boone was a great place even if slavery was legal in the state, and a tradition that encouraged people to go and form a new church if the old one got “too large.”) Given that the outlying areas never had many slaves or slave-owners, the land wasn’t great for plantation crops, there were plenty of poor, hard-working White laborers and the county seat was so actively against slavery…

Well, plantations didn’t exactly take root here. But despite our relative homogeneity, our history is more complex than you might imagine.

I read the Vanity Fair piece. It seems Maraniss did several critical pieces and a book on Clinton while he was running for office. I never heard of them, didn’t read them, and hadn’t heard about anyone else reading them. I wouldn’t give the man another thought. The “juiciest bits” (supposedly) were included in the review. They sounded pretty tame and pretty much like any college kid’s behavior at that time. The fact that our future president used Brut shaving lotion sounds interesting. He dated a “white girl” for a time — his mother was white Maraniss, did you know that? Sheeze. What a way to earn a living, writing lame “exposes’ of a sitting president.

The United States launched airstrikes in Yemen on Thursday that killed as many as seven militants, the second American missile attack in the country since the CIA and other spy agencies disrupted an al-Qaeda airline bomb plot, U.S. officials said.

The strike came as new details surfaced about the foiling of the plot, including the disclosure that the operative who posed as a willing suicide bomber and later turned the device over to authorities was a British citizen, according to Western officials.

The operativeโ€™s background as a Saudi with a British passport helps to explain why he may have been selected by al-Qaedaโ€™s affiliate in Yemen to smuggle an advanced explosive onto a U.S.-bound flight. In reality, officials said, the operative was working as part of an elaborate espionage mission directed by the CIA and its Saudi counterpart.

The CIA declined to comment on any aspect of the mission or the airstrike. But officials confirmed details about the operativeโ€™s background, including that he held a British passport, and did not dispute accounts in the British press about his recruitment by MI5, that countryโ€™s equivalent of the FBI.

I have a happy ending, bedtime story to share: as I was signing out at the retirement center about an hour ago, the elderly couple whose son hosted PBO at his home today were sitting in the lounge, waiting for a car to pick them up. I went over to them, and said, “SO! You Two!” and they just lit up! Oh Oh, Pamela, they both said, (because we are already very friendly on a daily basis..). I sat down and said, Okay, which hand? Then the man took my right hand, the lady took my left hand, and they let loose a buzz that came straight up both my arms and directly into my heart center! Whoa! They were still ecstatic and overwhelmed that they had just shaken hands with PBO today! They were so happy to share it with me, and man, they were very fired up! I said, “He’s very good for the heart, isn’t he?”. The man said, oh my goodness, I thought he (PBO) was amazing in videos and on television, but to stand beside him and shake his hand, and to see him in person, WOW!, he is incredible! The lady said she hadn’t washed her hand yet, as she was savoring the contact! Then their car arrived, so we walked toward the door, and she said, Pamela, I have SO much more to tell you.. See you tomorrow! They were aglow, and I expect will remain so for a very long time. It was just so sweet! And that is it! By the time I reached my car about 2 blocks away, in the brilliant late sunshine, the air so clean and crisp and a lovely cool wind blowing, I sat down in the drivers seat and burst into tears, I was that moved by being even 1 degree of separation from PBO, I think I would be utterly hopeless if I was in the same room with him. Someone would have go carry me out!

did you see that last week, where the president was talking to her in the WH and she called over the SS guys and asked them if they would risk their lives for the president and they looked at her weirdly and said yes then she dismissed them and she turned to the president and said that all the people in the WH would do anything for him. Then she gave him a creepy look and you could see how startled he was by what she said verbally and what was implied. that woman creeps me out. I also think she’s always known about the president and Liv because off hand in several episodes she’s said things like, “you’re always better when Liv is here” or something to that effect which she said was the reason she had invited Liv to that WH party even though she hadn’t been cleared by the prez. that wife is only in it for the power and the prestige. she scares the shitola outta me. ๐Ÿ˜

Magapie. No way, NOT BUYING IT!!! As my sweet mama used to say, it always helps when smarts come packaged ‘easy on the eyes’

I like the boys, but if I liked the girls? Jennifer Granholm would make that list. She’s smart, clearly doesn’t back down from a fight, and she’s a good looking woman. What’s NOT to like??

John Lewis is a national treasure. He’s been at the forefront of every civil rights struggle in the past fifty years and counting. In a decent world he’d be honored every day of his life. (Instead teabaggers spit on him.) He’s one of my heroes.

Chips, in case no one has alerted you yet, here is the local story of the lady (teacher and cancer survivor) who introduced President Barack Obama in Seattle earlier to day:

Seattle teacher’s ‘freakishly fantastic’ moment: introducing Obama

Seattle teacher gets to introduce, thank President Obama for health care

    By Lynda V. Mapes

    Seattle Times staff reporter

The honor of introducing President Barack Obama to supporters at the Paramount Theatre Thursday fell to Inglemoor teacher Suzanne Black.

When the call came, Suzanne Black, a Seattle public schoolteacher, at first didn’t believe it: Would she be willing to introduce the president at The Paramount Theatre?

“When I told my husband, he was like, ‘The president of what? You mean, THE president?'” Black said.

The President indeed, and for Black, it was a chance not only to welcome Obama to Seattle, but personally thank the man who put her life back on track.

For Black, the health-care plan passed by Congress at Obama’s insistence isn’t an abstraction or some distant political debate. It’s the only reason she can continue to get coverage for the chemotherapy treatments that are keeping cancer at bay.

Black was 47 when she was diagnosed in March 2005 with stage IV ovarian cancer. Five years later, she received a four-sentence letter from her insurance company informing her she had exhausted three-quarters of her lifetime benefit limit.

“I would have to battle cancer and figure out how to pay for the medicines keeping me alive,” Black said. “How does anyone do that?”

But the legislation passed by Congress banned insurers from imposing such lifetime limits on coverage.

“Health reform, Obamacare โ€” whatever you want to call it, it represents a chance at life,” she said, practicing on the phone the speech she planned to give on stage.

But first, she would need something suitable to wear for her big moment.

    ……………………………

.Next came the problem of trying to sleep for all the excitement after getting the call on Monday.

“Teachers are hardly ever speechless, but when I got that call, I was just completely at a loss for words,” Black said. “I can see why they don’t tell you until a few days before; it totally derails your world. It is freakishly fantastic.”

Afterward, Black was still incandescent in her excitement. “He is so down to Earth,” she said in an interview just after the president’s speech. “I have so much respect for him.”

Black said she was very nervous before going on stage, but right before her big moment, “I felt this kind of supernatural calm.” Her introduction went off flawlessly.

    ……………………………………………

As a biology teacher at Inglemoor High School, meeting the president is about the only thing that could keep her out of the classroom, Black said.

“To me teaching biology is more than what I do, it’s what I am.”

She says she has figured out how to return the favor to her students, for the light they bring into her life. She’s going to bring Obama’s handshake right into the classroom the next day.

“After he shakes my hand, I am not going to wash it,” she said of Obama. “I may even put it in a plastic bag.”

A lot of people protect their hands after President Obama gets hold of it. Remember that soldier who kept his hand up in the air so no-one would touch it? Then Pamela has a lovely story about two elderly friends who met the President today. Now this. Very sweet!
