Charles Pierce: …. As to the argument that the president “didn’t want this” to open up in an election year, I think he did. It’s too perfect an ending to the narrative of his “evolving position” that he’s been talking about for three years. He saw a clear injustice — the North Carolina vote — and he decided that his conscience would brook no more delay. Look at how carefully he wove his support of marriage equality into the fabric of everything else he’d done for the cause of equality since he’s been president.
He talked about how our men and women in the armed forces (you know, the gay ones who can serve openly because he ended Don’t-Ask-Don’t-Tell, and who can get married in Massachusetts and Hawaii because he told his Justice Department not to pursue cases under the Defense of Marriage Act) shouldn’t be denied a right that we all have — to marry — just because they’ve left the killing fields.
…. I think both the Biden and Duncan interviews were long-range reconnaissance, and I think he got the information he wanted. I have my differences with this president, god knows, but this is one thing of which I am certain: He does absolutely nothing by accident. He has spent his entire life learning how to take cautious, considered steps. He’s damned good at it by now.
…. All of which is not to diminish what an authentic act of political courage this actually is. The dingbats will scream and fling their poo to all points of the compass …. even I can’t be cynical enough to deny that most of the reasons that the president said what he did today he said because he is a child of the civil-rights movement, someone whose fundamental ethics and whose most basic view of this country were formed as a result of the crucible through which the country passed in those years, and I believe he saw that denying gay couples the right to marriage when they contribute so much to so many areas of society was simply the right thing to do.
….. we all had a good laugh at his “evolving position on it,” but don’t we want our presidents to be thoughtful, to be open to new data and new perpectives, and new ways of thinking about things? …..I can tell you that, in my lifetime, I have had my fill of rigid presidents.
….a better and fairer country awaits ….I’m prouder to be driving through this country than I was this morning, that’s for sure.

Hello
Darn. Anyway congrats ber on #1!
Congrats to ya, ber!!
Me too?
Is this why the WH didn’t proceed with the concert taping?
But but but… drone strikes are BAD BAD BAD! The president MUST be primaried…
OK that’s my emoleft rant for the night 😉
corporations are people you know!
OMG.
“….I’m prouder to be driving through this country than I was this morning, that’s for sure.”
MEEEEEEE TOOOOOOOOOO!
Love it!
MItt is married to money.
Mitt is mean.
That goes without saying:) oh….and he lies!
Mitt is a souless power whore.
Mitt is wrong.
Mitt is the Koch Bros’ Pinocchio.
Mitt is hopeless.
And hapless
and feckless
heartless
less…simply less
I tweeted both UpChuckTodd and MarkKnoller about the concert, yet no response. Obviously they’ve been asked to keep mum. Otherwise Knoller would be tweeting his arse off.
Alright, Mark Knoller clearly lurks on this blog:
ARRRRGHHHHHH.
Now this makes me really curious. Wonder why the change of plans.
Maybe PBS asked them at the last minute not to livestream because the last time (Red, White & Blues) we were all over it and poor PBS lost ratings they otherwise would have gotten!
Or it could’ve been something completely unrelated!
I totally believe many bloggers and pundits lurk on this site. It is one of the few places on the internet where topical issues are discussed in a calm and sane manner. I’m sure they check here to see what effect, if any, the latest anti-Obama meme is having on his rock-solid supporters.
Yes, they do. I could have sworn that Tweety had read some comments here yesterday.
I don’t know if my head can take much more momentous news.
LOL!
Would I love to be at George Clooney’s home tomorrow evening. I know the President is going to get a standing ovation like never before from the guest.
Is that fundraiser tomorrow or when?

There’s a tweet in there somewhere. 🙂
All you Twitter warriors, tweet away!
Ask and thou shall be tweeted.
FAB-U-LOUS!!
Excellent – R’Ted!
That’s very good, LL. Tweeted,
I think both the Biden and Duncan interviews were long-range reconnaissance, and I think he got the information he wanted.
Damn, I am good. 🙂
Own up amk, you ARE Charles Pierce! 🙂
Ahem, I said the same thing. I want my brownie!
Actually, I have NEVER seen Liberal Librarian, AMK and Charles Pierce in the same room …… hmmm. 😆
Curiouser and curiouser…..
I wish I were. But it’s my FF that’s preventing my evolving. 🙂

BUT, but Jake Tapper said on ABC news this morning that Joe Biden has made the WH very upset in forcing PBO to have to say what he did before the election. snark
I haven’t listened to any radio or TV today. Really don’t want to hear all the pundits. I just want to be here with friends and whatch a good movie with my husband. This is such an emotional tremendous day! Love our President!!!!
One of my favorite comments of the day!
God I love my wife.
She called me at work to see what was for dinner. I said, “We’re ordering in. I’m too emotionally wiped to cook.” She asked why. She doesn’t follow the news at work. I told her about PBO’s statement. She said “Yeah, so? You knew that’s what he believed.” I then talked about the politics of it and she said, “Oh, right. Well, he’s Obama. He can handle it.”
LOL. Sounds like you have a Michelle Obama in your home.
Oh jesus, I’m choking up. I don’t tell her this often enough, but she’s my rock.
Bless you both, LL.
This!
And so you did tell that very thing this evening, yes???? LL, you big ol’ softy, you.
You should start calling your wife, “No Drama Mrs. LL”.
Oh, she has drama at work. If she could quit and work with animals—and make somewhere near the same amount of money—she would. But when it comes to PBO she just expects the extraordinary out of him. She has no worries.
Gorgeous LL, just gorgeous.
I LIKE her!
Mark informs us – AFTER I called him and chuck todd out upthread!
Tell him we need footage, not a freakin’ tweet — it’s a musical PERFORMANCE!!
Mark is too lazy. Tweeting is the most he can muster.
I’m pulling this over from the last post, cuz it was at the end… well, why not? (and RuPaul’s in it)
The Grio has a slideshow of some tweets from celebrities, other politicians, etc. in response to the President’s statement today
http://www.thegrio.com/politics/twitter-reacts-to-obamas-support-for-gay-marriage.php
My three faves:
From House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi:
A great day in our fight for civil rights – President Obama adds his support for marriage #equality. #Beautiful Day.
From (Future President-Elect) Cory Booker:
Historic day for justice and equality. Our United States President Obama endorses marriage equality. I rejoice in this announcement.
From RuPaul (fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race will appreciate):
@BarackObama…shantay, you stay!!
Oh RuPaul. She was queer before queer was cool.
Silent Snaps, darling!
LOL…shantay, you stay. Hilarious.
This statement stands out for me: “He does absolutely nothing by accident. He has spent his entire life learning how to take cautious, considered steps. He’s damned good at it by now.”
BOOM! This is why I never fret about anything to do with this President. He’s playing 11th dimensional chess while his opponents and sometimes his so called supporters are playing checkers. I don’t believe VP Biden and Sec. Duncan made gaffes this week. They knew what they were doing. The report is already out there that PBO was going to come out for gay marriage. VP Biden is in lockstep with Pres. Obama everyday and he would know PBO’s position on same sex marriage so he gave his answer freely and never backed down. The timeline just moved up. Pres. Obama might as well have been testing the landscape.
This President does nothing by accident. After experiencing his first political loss in Chicago, he has become more politically calculated, more savvy, and more nuanced in that he always takes the long term view. What he sees sitting down, we cannot see standing on the highest mountains and hills.
Once I hitched my wagon to Pres. Obama – before he was President Obama – I told myself I WILL NEVER LOOK BACK. I will never for one second doubt this President. His 08 campaign showed me the moral character, decency, genius, intelligence, and strength of the man. I WILL NEVER DOUBT HIS VISION FOR AMERICA. I placed my faith in him as a leader and HE HAS NEVER DISAPPOINTED ME. I am here to enjoy the Obama Presidency; the highs and yes, the ridiculous media and sometimes supporters manufactured lows. 8 years can fly in a jiffy and I never want to look back in regret that I did not soak up every moment of this transformative Presidency.
+1, no, +gazillion, ut. I have seen many shades of politicians in my 3 decades of politics watching around the world (yes, I am nuts) and have never seen a man like him.
A++
Cheers!
ABSOLUTELY. And the bizarre…no SURREAL contrast to his smarmy, entitled, utterly dishonest and unqualified opponent? As if… AS IF that douche could POSSIBLY be a replacement. The concept really is obscene. Makes me sick.
Fuck yeah!
Well said UT I fel the same way and still do. I have never doubted this man since he announced in 2007. Even my family was getting on me a bout it, and even now too. No doubts. Whoot!!!. He is the man for mankind. Been on the road today, heading for Texas to see the Grandkids for a month. Now that is also something to look forward to. In the hotel room trying to catch up, never happen, sleeepy eyes. 🙂
UT, a truly eloquent statement of truth. All I can say is YES!!!
Transformative Presidency … I like that term. I have been thinking and hoping too that this Presidency would usher in a renaissance in this country also: arts, music, performances back in the White House, more open to the public, the focus on infrastructure, on gardening and eating right, and taking care of ourselves. I like where it has gone so far (except for the obstruction from the right) and I want/need at least four more years of it.
UT, I am with you 100%. I have been around a little longer than you have. I’ve consciously lived under 10 presidents, but for me President Obama is the first president that has never disappointed me.
right there with you ut 🙂
Charles P has some utterly wonderful lines, and today he’s given us our mantra for the storm to come. Let’s just keep reminding ourselves that “the dingbats will scream and fling their poo to all points of the compass.”
Ok, I have the mother of all essays for TPV building up in me. I’ll have to work on it tonight so that capture everything that I’m feeling and thinking.
So looking forward to it LL, I can’t find any words today, I’m completely overwhelmed. As I keep on saying, I just feel blessed to be alive while this man is in office.
I think it’ll be about my own evolution.
“I just feel blessed to be alive while this man is in office.” — I have friends and family members who laugh at how much I follow Pres.Obama but I always wonder to myself “Why aren’t you as engaged as I am?” They are missing so much of this fantastic presidency. I don’t want second or third hand accounts of his time in office. I want to witness every moment with my own eyes.
It’s history and we are privileged to be living it. I actually feel sorry for those who can’t feel part of it. We are blessed to have the internet and not be dependent on the media to tell us what the Prez is up to every day. He will be remembered as truly great and transformational. Life is good! 🙂
UT, LL, Chips, and gobrookly, our hearts have been touched again. I have also lived through at least 11 Presidents of the United States where I became fully aware of these men. However, I must say that this president has moved like the bow across the strings of the finest violin ever to be played. His music is pitch perfect.
For reasons that I can’t discuss, I totally believe and know that he will do what is right, fair, and just as our president. He is a man who measures his words, his steps, stands up for the right things to do with all of this power, yet with a humble spirit. He does not play games, except the game of basketball. He really speaks quietly and perfectly with FLOTUS. When he speaks that she is his rock, he means that.
I feel completly calm, and fine with what we have to do. No, it is not going to be an easy journey, but he knows that, believe me. But he will do what is right within his soul. He looks way beyond where most of the people who are giving him hell. He is a longterm thinker. He is also thinking about the dems platform for the future as well. Let us stay focus. Believe me, he is worth supporting. Stay focus. Trust him. I am PRESSING ON With POB. Love you all, and thanks Chips. I love you back so much.((((((LOVE)))))))HZ
I’m with you gobrooklyn. Only I do understand why they are not following as close as I am as I am retired now. When I was working, taxi mom, wife, and homemaker all at the same time I barely had time to turn around. Since discovering Barack Obama on the Oprah Show pushing his book Audacity of Hope I have become an enlightened follower consuming as much information as possible. Talk about changes I was a registered Republican prior to listening to Barack Hussein Obama. I was not connected to reality listening to the news and watching the debates for input. I did not always vote GOP though as I mostly voted Dem, but was too lazy to change my registration till BHO. I changed my registration and never looked back. I am now a supporter, donor, follower, and contributer not understanding exactly why it took this man to wake me up. I know PBO must win a second term and it suddenly got closer even though I know he was beyond right and brave to comment on marriage rights. I am proud of him yet scared.
So let’s see what Rachel will say on this issue:
CORY BOOKER!!! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! 😀
I’m all a-flutter!! [heavy panting!!]
I just learned that Cory Booker is coming to the big Dem Convention in WA next month and I cannot afford to go. Sob.
OH NO!!
do we really need to hear what she thinks?
I predict she will give PBO like she did when he passed DADT, then turn on him and say that Ron Paul already came out for Gay Marriage. We all know Ron Paul has as much chance of becoming President as I do.
yup!
No. She gave PBO all the credit in the world.
But it rang hollow for me. She etch a sketched her irrational and irresponsible, inflammatory words the night before the New York vote. She etch a sketched her insulting stance when DADT was repealed. I’m simply unable to celebrate with her after all the damage she inflicted.
I’m insulted by her victory lap.
Yup. I am not impressed nor is the President. Rachel Maddow is a political pundit who is wicked smart but shallow in my opinion.
Hey, I’m happy she was as supportive as she was. But I turned on the show and didn’t know what she would say and that’s just sad.
Right with ya…but at least Mr Booker will be there.
sweeeet!!!! he’s so sexy. Him and O’Malley. I’m telling you, there are some sexy Dems in office!!!

Just fantastic, thank you DesertFlower, I added a link to the post.
Thanks:)
Love that Cory Booker:
“Giambusso from The Ledger asked me 4 a statement re: Obama & marriage equality. I told him I’d give him one as soon as I stopped dancing”
Thanks DF, this one was especially poignant.

I’m going to bet people saying President Obama’s support “means nothing” never comforted a 15 yr old gay kid asking why everyone hates him.
———————
and from Governor O’Dreamy:
“Ultimately we all want the same thing for our kids: to live in a loving, stable committed home protected equally under the law. #MD4ME”
Hi Chips,
It’s been a busy day, a great day, and I know you have much bigger things on your mind. That won’t stop me, however, from asking if I could have my “first!” picture from the “Rise and Shine” thread! Could I have a great big wonderful PBO one please?
So sorry Mary! I hope this makes up for it:
😉
OMG, Chips, this photo is wonderful. You never cease to amaze me. Love it.
Please don’t apologize! Thanks so much:) This has been a loooooong day and looooooog week and this is just the cherry on the Sanders hot fudge sundae!
Just caught the tail end of the presentation on CNNlive with Barcharach with the award thanking President Obama who was seated. Got a glimpse of him leaning closely into Michelle’s ear telling her something he thought was humorous. Very sweet. She’s wearing black with her hair down.
Don’t know if it aired anywhere else. Seems to me that these performances are never livestreamed (when Congressional medal is awarded). The ones with Stevie Wonder and Paul McCarthy weren’t. My PBS station never shows it on the date other stations do. Comes up almost out of the blue. Will watch it online first.
Awww. Guess we’ll have to wait until May 21st to see it on PBS.
Wow the real Mark Knoller is not being snarky. I’m surprised.
He must have been moved by the performances. Disinfected all the snarkitude away – for just tonight anyway.
Wonderful, awesome post from John Cole over at Balloon Juice:
“My next thought was that I bet people are going to be heaping praise on him, but all he has really done is express an opinion. What he should be really praised for are all the many things he and his administration have done, some of which Glenn mentioned, but that was really just the tip of the iceberg- check this exhaustive list of advances for gay rights. I’d cut and paste it, but it would scroll 4-5 pages.
That isn’t an “impressive” record. It’s AMAZING. That’s what flummoxes me about many activists. Those are real accomplishments, yet we still had folks (Dan Choi, Aravosis, I’m looking at you) flaming the President. Contrary to what Glenn says, the President stating he supports same-sex marriage isn’t an action, it’s a statement. What is listed here are real actions. Yet most of those accomplishments received little fanfare or were even downplayed by the very same activists who today are doing cartwheels over “just words.” It’s almost as if for some activists, affirmation is more important than accomplishments.”
This is the basically the same thing we’ve been saying for MONTHS. This is directed at the Dan Chois and ‘nem..
Oh I forgot to provide the link to the post: http://www.balloon-juice.com/2012/05/09/glad-to-see-i-didnt-miss-anything-big-today/#comments
Yup, that was a wonderful cole piece. I posted the link to Obama’s amazing record on LGBT issues above.
I recall how inspiring Choi was at an earlier rally when he stood tall and sincerely spoke about the need for DADT to be repealed. (Lady GaGa was scary. She’s tall to begin with and stood on a huge box that made her gigantically tall–and then she emitted the most awful invectives against President Obama). Choi was such a disappointment after DADT was repealed because he showed no gratitude, but instead irrationally insisted on more in horrendously brat-type of tantrums. Shocked me because I was so drawn to him at the rally.
I have to say, I am OVERWHLEMED by the love on the web right now. Of course, I haven’t gone any of the hate cesspool sites, but still…. Twitter is ALL OVER THIS in a wonderful way, and such beautiful, heartfelt comments on so many wonderful linked articles.
I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!
Perhaps champagne is in order…….
Yes, it’s remarkable how my mood has improved dramatically from even this morning.. once again PBO is really the balm that this country badly needs. Everyone (except the log cabin Repubs) seem to be in a much better and calmer mood!!!
My post yesterday night (IST)
I fully expect PBO shutting down all the stupid feeding frenzy for the past two days. I will check in tomorrow.
Damn amk. And here you are checking in as predicted…
What are my winning numbers for next week? 🙂
HAAA! ME TOO PLEASE!!! 😀 😀 😀
Those self-loathing crybabies need to kiss Ellen’s ass.
Maybe they’re not really gay. What if they are closeted straights pretending to be gay in order to make the Repubs look more diverse????
(I read their pretzel statement….I have my pretzel conspiracy theory).
The bitter and cynical comments are out there. I just don’t visit those blogs anymore so I have only read that they are out there. I won’t be checking.
since corporations are people, my friends, does the mittbot think marriage is at least okay between a man and walmart, Inc.? better sign a pre-nup on that one.
so sweet.
i’m still a little unclear why today is more important than the actual real-world changes PBO has already helped get through on this topic and so many others that honestly, impact many more people than lgbt rights. i get that it’s an emotional statement for so many, but not sure i’m liking comments such as that as if all the previous “progress” on so many issues, and is positively effecting millions of people right now, doesn’t constitute sufficient “progress” for some liberals? thrilled by the news today, but also wondering that at the same time.
Because no other POTUS has EVER said anything remotely close to this. 😀
Did you read John Cole’s post at Balloon Juice? He said the same thing and its an excellent point.
It’s the mind blowing courage that takes people’s breath away. Especially people who are used to being treated badly. The President is the hero figure who shows up at moments like this and provides comfort and stands up for those who need a defender. It’s not just this instance. I think of last year when he traveled into the heart of “red” America to comfort the tornado victims. He has spoken in front of people who hate him and not shown fear. Not even when they were openly carrying weapons. He is both physically and morally courageous. He reminded us today that he is a hero.
Bravo.
glad to see robin roberts being the reporter they called for this. she’s not much like the others, and the white house probably thought it best to bring an actual professional in for such a serious occasion.

Proud of PBO for taking a stand … I always half-suspected he really felt this way but was afraid of the political consequences of a pro-gay marriage positions. Now he’s standing up for what I think he’s believed in for a while. Such a contrast to Romney, who doesn’t even seem to HAVE convictions. And here’s another contrast–just a couple-second clip, but shows the homophobic side of Romney
PBO makes my heart skip a beat. My gay cousin died many years ago but I sent a message to his mother today and she simply emailed me back that “Mark is smiling down on this President today”.
That is so awesome!!! 😀
Ok. now I’m crying.
Romney Dismisses Gay Marriage, In-State Tuition For Illegal Immigrants
Is he for real? Same sex marriage, tuition, medical marijuana for cancer patients aren’t serious questions? And he wants to be President of the United States? Representing all people? Hahahahaha……I’m so going to enjoy CRUSHING the hell out of this nitwit.
Mitt doesn’t have what it takes. The President had to deal with nonsense about his birth certificate from a loser like Trump, while he was dealing with plans to get OBL with Seal Team 6. He had to go look at mud pieces in the Gulf and swim, while dealing with a potentially devastating oil spill. He had to have beer with a racist policeman and a Harvard professor who was arrested in his own home, while dealing with the global economic collapse and a dying auto industry and attempting to pass a centuries old health care law. He had to address why he wanted dijon mustard on his burger, whether he felt angry and could show emotion, accusations of “Chicago-style shakedowns”,
This week alone: Israel formed a coalition government and is gleefully looking at attacking Iran without limits; France changed Presidents and elected a Socialist; Greece rejected austerity (and has little to lose); Putin took office in Russia; terrorists were thwarted and some killed; job openings were the highest in four years… but the President took time out of his busy day to address this “insignificant” issue. Mitt just can’t cut it.
“(President Obama’s) legacy was already secured by his ACTIONS, this was something extra — the icing on the cake.”
— Rachel Maddow
Love her show today!!!
ditto
Ok, I can agree with that. Good Rachel.
Woah. Rachel Maddow is giving full throated support to Pres. Obama. Listing all his LGBT legacy and accomplishments. She said him coming out for same sex marriage is great but people shouldn’t let that alone determine their support of him. That he has shown by his actions that he has always been for LGBT rights. That he has been lockstep with the LGBT community and has greatly advanced their cause.
She also reminded people that it was Bill Clinton, a Democrat who put in place the disastrous DOMA and it is President Obama who told his DOJ to stop defending it.
Wow. Just wow.
She also said that his – Pres. Obama – legacy was already secured by his actions and that him supporting same sex marriage was just icing on the cake.
Actually, it was GWB who signed DOMA. Clinton signed DODT.
ACK – DADT. I need a drink. 😀
No, Tally. 1996. Bill Clinton signed it. Bush may have signed a reaythorization but Clinton owns this.
Weird. Rachel showed a video of Bush telling Congress to pass it.
I think she was saying that Bush started his 2004 campaign trying to extend the discrimination even further and completely define marriage as between a man and a woman. I don’t think it succeeded. From what I gather, Clinton’s DOMA restricted states from recognizing marriages in other states, but Bush wanted to deny any ability for gays to marry at all, and to make it a crime to actually perform a marriage of gay people.
Based on the history of the Republicans and gay rights, I’m surprised the Log Cabin Republicans actually exist and take themselves seriously. Even more surprising that they were fine with denouncing President Obama, while they support someone who will essentially make them illegal for even existing.
AH. okay. Thank you. 😀
They don’t care,as long as their taxes are low and they can vulture capitalist to their heart’s content.
It’s about greed and hate. When given the choice, Log Cabin Republicans choose greed and ignore the hate.
Constitutional amendment. Not DOMA.
Ah. Thank you.
Bush pushed for the constitutional amendment because he wasn’t sure if DOMA would survive if legislatively challenged.
I’m always pleased when Clinton is helpful, but I cannot get past his record: DOMA, Telecom bill, DADT, welfare ‘reform’. DOMA was probably veto-proof but I don’t remember that Clinton fought it all that much. I don’t recall veto threats. He was too busy having to defend his personal ass. If it survives a veto, fine. But that’s the point: you go on record as being against the first piece of legislation to take away rights from Americans. Do Democratic President should have accepted it without a fight.
Nope. Clinton signed DADT and DOMA.
I’m not the biggest fan of Bill Clinton, but I can’t fault him for DADT. Back in the 1990s people were not as open minded as they are today. Bill Clinton had tried at first to let gays serve openly and he suffered an enormous backlash. It was too soon. He had to settle for much less with DADT.
Is fucking rachel maddow dissing this significant moment ? I am seeing some tweets clocking her head. Anyone watching her ?
Quite the opposite. Scroll up.
Ok. Many in twitterdom are upset. If she didn’t give any ‘conditional’ praise, good for her.
I didn’t see/hear anything to be upset about. Her piece recaps the statements of previous Presidents, highlighting differences in their “personal” views vs. political statements on the topic. Topped off by what she said about PBO’s actions representing his legacy. In my view, very well done.
Are you watching the same RM as UT? From UT’s account, Rachel is beyond happy…
I am not watching. It’s the twitter feed. For me, she is 50/50.
Chips’ next post has the video of that segment. Watch for yourself.
Beautiful image! Powerful statement!
Maddow’s open piece was just magnificent. Anyone who say otherwise is not being objective IMO.
She is definitely in a good mood.
leave it to Maddow to give full historical context.
that is her strength
Agreed wholeheartedly.

yeaahhhh…… methinks they’re going to have some serious security, and I’d need $$$$ in residual checks to show my bona fides…. 😉
Clooney should just invite me. I clean up pretty well. And I can be funny, just ask JoJo. 😀
I love Barack Obama.
I LOVE HIM THE MOST
Rachel Maddow is a coward for not correcting Barney Frank on his comments he made on black people in California on Prop 8. The black population in CA is not even close to 10%.
Sheesh Barney. Didn’t NOM, LDS clowns and mehmney sink gazillions on Prop 8 ?
That is what the folks on twitter are apparently taking issue with. Did B. Frank say something about AA’s being responsible for the SS law in NC and the one coming up in MD and that now they might vote differently because PBO has given them the Ok to vote now that he has stated his support. That’s what I am picking up from twitter.
Frank is being irresponsible for not only perpetuating a false stereotype, but doing so on national TV as a legislator. I very carefully parsed through the data of the NC voting yesterday and it had NOTHING to do with Black voters. This racial stereotyping has got to stop. No amount of “history” made by PBO’s announcing support for SSM will matter if people who should know better continue to engage in racial scapegoating.
It’s actually 6%.
“California has 2.3 million African Americans as of 2010, the largest population of Black or African Americans in the western U.S, and the 5th highest Black population in the United States.”

I’m such a web nerd……
Won’t matter Brit. Alot of White liberals and LGBT folk believe that AA are the cause for Prop 8’s passage despite evidence to the contrary. And it really pisses me off. It’s a belief that won’t be shaked with logic and don’t even matter when you provide evidence to contrary. Some supposedly reasonable people still believe that bullshit.

I see same sex civil union bill failed in Co. today—-sounds like Repubs prevented it from advancing—–will be on the ballot in Nov.—–which should be interesting.

President Obama a Profile in Courage.
So whatever became of Keith Olbermann? Haven’t seen or heard much since Jimmy roasted him at the WHCD and he was pizzzzed.
Where’s that loud mouth Dick Cheney? He always wants to speak out for HIS gay daughter once he was no longer in office, but while in office he did not have the guts to stick up for his own child when his party was saying the vile things about gays, taking away their rights, and prevent them from marrying having children.
Cory’s ON!!!
