Thanks Hopefruit, I am still giddy! Had a helluva evening clearing out the fridge as tomorrow is food scraps pick up day… Am a little ashamed to say there was some pretty yucky food scraps in there! That done, logged on and KaBoom! It was my turn… Figured all o’ y’all had gone to bed!
Chica!! Posting AGAIN so folks can see these FABULOUS ANN SAVAGE pictures!!!
Speaking of Science…
Y’all have GOT to check this out!! Nice pictures (Photo credits: Anne C. Savage) and some very cool panoramic picture of PBO and FLOTUS at the OHIO rally. You can scroll around the whole arena. If you were there, you may even be able to find yourself!!! Link is to eclectablog. WOW!! Enjoy, it’s like you were really there!!
Romney is counting on the media not calling him out on his lies, low information voters and those who do not follow politics closely or maybe just before the election.
If he can fool a small percentage, keep stoking the anti PBO racism and with voter suppression he thinks he may have a shot.
The US media is definitely at it’s lowest point.
I probably shouldn’t have said that, because some Republicans might be thinking of voting for President Obama in secret. So if there are any of you out there who comes here, use your common sense. You know this is not your party that you remember, it has gone to far. November 6th vote for a man who truly cares about this country and the middle class who makes this country. Vote for President Obama. When you go into that booth no one else have to know. Welcome sensible Republicans.
Anniebella, that was such a sweet invitation. I am certain many of our sane Republican friends will either be voting for PBO, voting for every race except president or sitting this one out.
Exactly, I don’t equate the republicans who care about their party that the RW crazies, teabag thuggery, and religious right have hijacked the republican party that governed along side democrats for the good of this country, for the good of ALL people.
I’m going with deeply disturbed. I really think there is something seriously wrong with Mitt Romney. I have never seen a politician lie all the time. I have no idea what he stands for and I don’t believe a word he says.
Which part of WILLARD’S STUPID “LET DETROIT GO BANKRUPT” says “save the auto industry”. Willard wants everyone to be talking about his LIES instead of PObama GETTING THE CREDIT HE DESERVES FOR NOT LETTING DETROIT GO BANKRUPT.
So no one else thought of ‘managed bankruptcy.’ Only Mitt. There is something truly, disturbingly wrong with this man.
Let’s see: he wanted ‘private capital’ to take over the bankruptcy. THERE WAS NO PRIVATE CAPITAL IN 2008/2009. Bain wouldn’t touch it. So where was this private capital coming from? Mitt’s kids’ trust funds? Evidently not.
“Cutting costs (read: labor) saved the industry.” The President insisted that this backward American auto industry join the 21st century and make more efficient cars. And all those labor costs that were cut — I have one question for Mittens:
Would you have arranged a profit sharing set up that paid AMERICAN auto workers up to $8,000 in bonuses last year?!?!? Would you have arranged it so that the auto workers would make concessions and then share in the success of the company once it got back on its feet?!?!?!
Here’s what you do, Mitt: you take care of your cronies, the ‘investors’, your own crooked ‘management fees’, and you’re just as happy if that company falls off a cliff, taking all of the workers with it.
What President Obama worked out with the auto industry was genius: it saved honest, American manufacturing jobs and the myriad of support industries. Unions made concessions and then were able to share in the resulting success. Something you NEVER would have done, you sociopathic piece of shit that is dangerously close to the Presidency.
Moving up from previous thread because the curtain needs to be pulled back on this obstruction………….
AN INDICTMENT OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA
Thomas Mann and Norm Ornstein wrote an article last week that stated the Republican Party obstruction was rendering our government dysfunctional. Below is a very troubling example of that obstruction. The fact that this is not being reported more widely in the mainstream media is criminal.
GOP OBSTRUCTION OF PRESIDENT OBAMA’S JUDICIAL NOMINATIONS
———————————————————————————-
Alliance for Justice Report Details President’s First-Term Record on Judicial Nominations and Calls for End of Election-Year Obstruction
Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron echoed the report’s conclusions, stating that, “The American people deserve a federal court system that is fully staffed and able to fulfill the promise of justice for all. The country cannot afford to wait any longer for the confirmation process to return to a rational and fair basis. With confirmations lagging at historically low levels, every opportunity must be taken to nominate and confirm new judges at a pace commensurate with the scope of the crisis we face. The upcoming elections must not be used as an excuse to perpetuate obstructive behavior. Every nominee the president puts forward in 2012 deserves a yes-or-no vote in 2012. Time may be short, but the need for action has never been greater.”
The report includes detailed data on the personal and professional characteristics of the President’s nominees, the historically sluggish pace of confirmations, and statistics comparing President Obama’s record with those of his immediate predecessors.
SENATOR VITTER OBSTRUCTION OF FEDERAL RESERVE NOMINATIONS (He just doesn’t want the Fed to do it’s job.)
When Republicans close off every avenue
By Steve Benen
——————————————————-
We know the GOP is willing to fight tooth and nail to reject any efforts at public investment to create jobs and spur economic growth. What’s less known is that Republicans are equally disgusted by the idea of Fed intervention to improve economic conditions.
.
.
For those who suspect congressional Republicans are deliberately trying to drag down the economy in the hopes of undermining the Obama presidency, the GOP’s actions with regard to monetary policy offer powerful evidence.
Over the last three years, congressional Republicans have gone to almost comical lengths to stop the Fed from even trying to improve the economy (while fighting equally hard to stop Congress from also trying to improve the economy). In November 2010, GOP lawmakers went so far as to say they wanted to change the Federal Reserve’s mandate so that it would stop taking steps to lower unemployment. As recently as a couple of weeks ago, National Journal reported that Republicans have effectively bullied the Fed into paralyzed inaction, and since Obama’s choices to fill vacancies are blocked by knee-jerk, incoherent opposition, nothing changes.
So the Emoprogs bash Pres. Obama for not verbally “evolving” even though his ACTIONS have moved LGBTQ civil rights policies in record-breaking ways. Yet I have not heard or seen a single effort on their part to counter the NC vote tomorrow to ban same sex marriage. Who needs to evolve here? Pres. Obama or the bigoted voters rolling back gays’ civil rights? I don’t get it! They bash a strong ally and r3main mute about the irrevocable harm being done around the country in state legislatures & referanda. They should fight the real enemy, not Pres. Obama!
These pics by Anne Savage are breath-taking! Pictures don’t lie – get that Willard, GOP & MSM? So next time you think of spinning a tale, remember that this is the age of instant media…we’re no longer in 2000 or even 2004 when it was easier for you to LIE your way to the WH. NOT THIS TIME!!!
I also heard that the troops on the ship (I’m sure I blew both of those terms) were due to go on leave the day before, but were forced to stay on duty one more day to allow for that photo-op.
Did anyone catch his name. I’d love to show this video in class tomorrow afternoon. I showed video of the North Carolina pastor suggesting abusing children who display “gay” characteristics last week. Along with the videos, I note stages of consciousness / faith development and the stages of church development they correspond with.
Pickle48, the pastor’s is well known in the country. He is very active in civil rights for All people. I have had the honor of hearing him speak on many subjects, especially about civil rights.
I just read a Tweet on that link about GWB and “Mission Accomplished” story. “Well, it’s official. PO just won re-election. How do I know? Dick Morris just predicted a big Romney win.” 🙂 🙂
HEADLINE: U.S. to run first surplus since 2008: CBO. Surplus is first of Obama’s presidency
// WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — The U.S. government recorded a budget surplus of $58 billion in April, the Congressional Budget Office estimated on Monday, breaking a streak of deficits that began in 2008. The surplus — the first of Barack Obama’s presidency — was the result of both increased tax collection and lower government spending. Before April, the government had not run a surplus since September 2008, the month that the financial crisis struck the U.S. economy. Read CBO report. The CBO’s estimate is released before the Treasury Department’s monthly budget report. That report is scheduled for later this week.
CBO estimated that receipts were $30 billion higher in April than the same month a year ago, due to declining refunds that month and higher corporate income tax receipts. Spending fell by $69 billion compared to April 2011, marked by lower outlays on defense, Medicaid and the Postal Service.
As I have said before this is how the lgbt & glaad should have address this amendment in the beginning. If we are successful tomorrow Ms. rachel maddow BETTER recognize that w/o the AA it would not have happened. If it passes I better not hear one word from fauxgressives, gays and other folks blaming blah people. We did our part.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ h/t Monie
what pisses me off the most is this laser focus at every PL and liberal leaning website about how will Black people vote on this Amendement.
Give me one damn instance where a Black person or majority Black group has submitted one amendment to put on the ballot.
How come no one is breaking down the support of gay marriage by rich white women, young white college males and females, suburban white soccer moms, white atheists, Buddhists, yoga lovers, frozen yogurt eaters…..I mean it is getting ridiculous. All everyone wants to know is how Black folk will vote….they want so badly to say we blocked progress and in turn the pundances will write that the LGBT will retaliate in Nov.
The video that angee posted of the Black clergy was brilliant. However I have NEVER seen any of the well known (mostly white) LGBT PL crew speak in such a manner. Instead we hear their usual anti-Obama venom, the rest have been as crude as Dan “Fuck you Mr. President” Savage, making young Christian students walk out of a forum for belittling them.
I posted an 2004 article on the Monday thread about how marriage amendments likely helped GWB win the election , and there was a quote by a LGBT activist that spoke truth:
“There was never any attempt to counter the minority, right-wing religious morality that Bush was preaching with morality about equality and being in a country that welcomes and embraces diversity and is based on freedom of religion and freedom of beliefs,” Kors said.
And the LGBT still don’t get how to do this in a constructive matter to this day.
On the eve of this vote, all they can come up with is what is the President’s position
Somebody tell me, how the fuck does that help them tomorrow?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About two weeks ago, Stephanie Miller was saying how disorganized the Anti-Amendment movement was in NC, that there was a great deal of confusion on how to vote against the amendment, yada yada. The same thing that happened in CA — TWO YEARS AGO.
So instead whining that Daddy PBO hasn’t come out with full support of gay marriage, how about getting your act together as a movement and defeat these odious amendments/bills? How about doing decent, organized, effective activism from the ground up instead of blaming everything on one man, ignoring his record and helping to move the country in a progressive direction?
I am so furious at the whiny left I could SCREAM. I cannot believe I’m having the same fight with my lesbian friends I had before PBO was elected (Yeah, like Hillary would have made marriage equality Issue No. !. She would have told them to STFU until her second term). They were all angry — again — at PBO. I told them to get on a fucking bus and go to NC and stop whining and fight that awful amendment.
I don’t care if Dick cheney says he’s alright with gay marriage, only because he has a gay daughter. Do you think ANY Republican is actually going to support legislation!?!?! This dangerous GG, and firebagger meme that the country is just fine with gay marriage and everyone will vote for it, and PBO should put his presidency on the line over this IN HIS FIRST TERM is INSANE.
These purity asshats are happy to see HCR disappear, see the end of Medicare, Medicaid, safe food and water, a more dangerous world, and more stovepiping of wealth to the top, because PBO won’t put his entire presidency on the line for marriage equality RIGHT
NOW? Bill Press just gave 20 minutes of his show to a GG wannabe.
57andfemale. THAT’S what a lot of black folks are talking about. Like you said, STOP whining about PBO and “get on the bus,” organize, make the call, DO THE WORK to get people on your cause. He can’t carry every ‘movement’ on his back.
(As if Myth R-money would give even less than a shit about gay marriage. Darth Vader Cheney doesn’t really care, he just want one of the few people who actually care about him to still talk to him…)
How about scrounging up a ” time-out ” room, in the order of the naughty mat? I think that would be helpful, since or all us will probably freak out between now and November 6th.
LOL! There will be times when I will send myself to the time-out room – especially those times at which I feel like dropping some hard licks on Willard and certain persons in media! 🙂
I’ve thought about something similar: dedicated positive threads — maybe one thread per day where people can have refuge from the hand-wringing/chicken-littling/freaking out….
Eveingeorgia, that is a great idea…. Maybe people could put themselves in there, and just stop posting when the going gets rough. One person we KNOW will never be in there is PBO, right Sir? He is just too darned busy working his more-than-full-time-JOB, as well as having to campaign against a nincompoop who hasn’t held a job in years (if ever), and who has lots of time to swan around the country fanning his lying s.o.b pathetic simpleton personality to the rest of them…
Gobrooklyn, I brought some of the thoughts from POU upthread. I hope an honest dialog can happen. As PBO says, we really do have to work toward a ‘more perfect union’ But the emphasis has to be on the ‘work’ Folks can not just sit back and blame other folks.
WOW – This is excellent gobrooklyn! I’m sick and tired of the media and others trying to scapegoat Black people for their own bigotry, laziness, and regressive attitudes.
oh my goodness, thank you for introducing me to rev. dr. william j. barber!!! i’ve been watching other videos of him on youtube and i’m a mess of tears. i have this vision now of him speaking at the dnc convention or PBO’s next inauguration. wow oh wow! here are some others i just saw:
this mans needs a giant megaphone. he makes so much sense that we know the people who employee jake yapper won’t give him one…maybe PBO can help bring him to bring more people. wow.
There’s a lot of tea-leaves reading on Pres. Obama’s view -public and private- on gay marriage. I believe he will not announce a position. For one, I don’t think he believes his position is that important in the determination of law making at the state level. For another, I don’t think he wants to have gay marriage be an established position of the party platform since some candidates may find themselves either opposed or marginalized on that issue alone. He wants a big-tent party, and is demonstrating that by allowing members of his own administration to give their personal views on that issue, possibly contrary to his own. I am personally in favor of legalizing gay marriage, but I think the party should be a big tent and not exclude people with another view. This issue will play out over a period of years at the state level as a generation of younger voters assert themselves. On the other hand, I may be entirely wrong and he will come out in favor tomorrow. But I wouldn’t bet on it.
I agree with this. I don’t think he should be forced to express his personal views. Obviously he favors gay rights and has done more than any other President for the LGBT movement.
Like I said on the last thread, if he wants to support SSM publicly, that is his choice to do so. This whole thing is irritating me.
FIRST AND FOREMOST…PBO IS A CHRISTIAN AND HE WILL STAND BY HIS BELIEFS…SECONDLY…THIS IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF REPUBLICAN ENTRAPMENT AND HE SHOULDN’T BE DRAWN INTO IT IN THE FIRST PLACE…IT’S A STATE ISSUE…NOT A PRESIDENTIAL ISSUE!
He will be the last Dem president/presidential candidate to not run on fully supporting gay marriage. No matter how much good he has done for gays, he’ll be remembered as being on the wrong side of the last big civil right issue. As being behind the much older Joe Biden. This should not happen to Barack Obama. It breaks my heart.
BWD, I love ya but you need to stop all this freaking out over nontroversies. It is not helpful to our cause. You view this non-issue through a very narrow lens and that is the thing that should break your heart not Pres. Obama’s position on gay marriage. I posted this to Chips. I think you need to read this, broaden your perspective and focus on what is important instead of getting distracted all the time about left wing and rightwing nontroversies. Develop a backbone of steel. We have an election to win for crying out loud.
This was my comment to Chips. I think you need to read this.
After he comes out in favor of gay marriage then what? The media and firebaggers move the goal post again? He comes out for gay marriage and you think the goal posts won’t be moved again? I believe in gay marriage but I am not going to constantly demand that the most progressive President on LGBT issues show his bona fides time and time and time again to prove that he’s worthy of my vote. He has repealed DADT, he has asked his DOJ to stop defending DOMA, he is backing the bill in congress that supports marriage equality, he has come out against NC’s Amendment One, he wholeheartedly supported NY in their legalization of gay marriage. What more do you want? Seriously What more do you want?
I love you Chips but you don’t get to demand that this President come out for gay marriage. You don’t get to dictate what he should and shouldn’t do. You don’t get to demand a timeline of President Obama as to when he comes out for gay marriage or not. This President has hired over 225 LGBT professionals, Romney fired his gay adviser. This President has signed so many laws into existence for the LGBT community. This President has signed so many benefits into law for the LGBT community.
Do we want him to bleed for us until we decide he is 100% worthy of our vote? Do we want him to be in lockstep with every issue under the sun that matters to us before we decide he is 100% worthy of our vote? This man has fought for every freaking demographic in this country and in other locations around the world yet we cannot give him time and space to come to a decision? This is a very personal decision. He might support gay marriage secretly but has looked at the political landscape and decided we need to win an election for the progress of LGBT rights to continue.
Do you know that Amendment One in NC is likely to pass? Do you also know that we need NC to become blue again this November? Do you know that NC hasn’t been blue in decades before PBO won the state? Do you know that only about 14K votes helped PBO win in NC? Do you know that if 7K votes or more swung Romney’s way Pres. Obama would lose NC; a very crucial state in the election? Do you also know that a lot of conservative Democrats in NC back Amendment One for whatever warped reason? Do you know that a lot of the Latino vote in NC which we need to win does not support gay marriage in huge numbers? Do you know that a lot of conservative Democrats around the country do not support gay marriage and could switch to the other column in November? We have an election to win. I will repeat that. We have an election to win. If PBO has looked at the landscape and decided this is too politically risky for the Democrats who are we to judge him? If he decides the political landscape is ok and he comes out for gay marriage, who are we to judge him? Do you think a Romney presidency would magically provide 100% equality for the LGBT community? Words are cheap. Actions speak louder.
We have an election to win Chips. We have an election to win. Every state is crucial in this election and as much as I love you, you don’t get to dictate to President Obama how he goes about in laying the groundwork and winning.
Wow. Very well stated UT. We have a tendency to become too easily distracted and lose site of the bigger picture. Consequently, we end up with results like 2010 which as hurt us tremendously. Our president has done a phenomenal job in his first term despite the chronic opposition. Imagine how far we could have progressed if Dems had exercised a little patience or should I say common sense during the midterm elections. You’re right, we have an election to win and if the president says that he is ‘evolving’ on the issue, he should be allowed to do so. Let’s allow him to be the genuine man that we love and respect; not a robo-Romney who will say anything to win.
Thanks UT, we must not become selfish. It is not all or nothing. LET US NOT UNDERMINE HIM WITH OUR IMPATIENCE. POTUS says he has our best interest and we must trust him. He has been more right than he has be wrong in his decisions concerning the USA. FORWARD!
Totally agree with you, Bill. I certainly think that if Congress can get its act together to pass a bill in favor of marriage equality (or the states to do the same), then the President certainly won’t block it. He’s already called for Congress to repeal DOMA. The ball really isn’t in his court on this. And his actions speak volumes on where he stands.
In my view what so many don’t appreciate about our president is that he will take the longer view, weighing what will bring greater growth and healing to our country and what his own place is in this process. He appreciates that he is not the one to be in front on this cause of marriage equality (He did not campaign on it, nor was he elected to make it happen), but he is the one to be in front on matters of war and peace, health care for all, and economic security for all. These things mean assembling the widest possible coalition in order to overcome all the forces arrayed against him, which are formidable. If he/ we fail to do that, then all those important goals will be lost, and with them, the cause of equality in marriage.
The U.S. government recorded a budget surplus of $58 billion in April, the Congressional Budget Office estimated on Monday, breaking a streak of deficits that began in 2008.
U.S. to run first surplus since 2008
Thanks to both increased tax collection and lower government spending, the government recorded a budget surplus of $58 billion in April, the Congressional Budget Office says.
The surplus — the first of Barack Obama’s presidency — was the result of both increased tax collection and lower government spending. Before April, the government had not run a surplus since September 2008, the month that the financial crisis struck the U.S. economy.
Lil Ricky sends out 11:00 p.m. email endorsement of Willard. Wow, could he spare it? I think it was making him sick.
and Jon Stewart continues his anti-Obama programming, taking his cues from the dishonest news media that there were no crowds or enthusiasm at Obama’s rallies. It was all a “big joke”, a not funny one, that there were more enthusiastic students at a cinco de mayo party at a nearby local bar—-but his schtick is getting really stale. I suspect envy here too.
Yup, with Jon it’s personal. His stupid “Rally to Restore Sanity” didn’t make him the megastar that he thought it would. And young people still LOVE, respect and admire PBO.
Do you find it odd that they are treating last weekend’s rallies as though they are completely distinct from all of PBO’s other well-attended appearances? It’s as though just because they were official rallies they should be scrutinized more closely. I don’t think most people coming to see PBO are making that distinction. I think they would come whether it was an official campaign event or a speech on the economy. I hope I’m making sense because to me it’s a distinction without a real difference.
Perfect sense. It’s the same nonsense as when they determine that President Obama is running a “perpetual campaign”, even though he’s just governing. I guess he was supposed to take a sleeping pill on Jan 20, 2009, and wake up when Romney is President? (heaven forbid!)
And by the way, I guess they didn’t notice the perpetual “guerilla” campaign being run by the GOP against him, beginning the day he was inaugurated. They insist on holding PBO to these lofty and double standards while failing to recognize that the viciousness of the opposition may often dictate a more aggressive response.
LAS VEGAS, May 7, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa announced today the union’s endorsement of President Barack Obama for re-election in 2012. Hoffa made the official announcement to more than 1,500 Teamster members attending the union’s annual conference in Las Vegas.
“President Obama is the clear choice for working families in November,” Hoffa said. “Despite inheriting the worst economy since the Great Depression, President Obama has led the country down the long road back to prosperity, providing relief for the middle class and fighting for workers’ rights.”
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, with 1.4 million members, is one of the largest and most diversified labor unions in the country.
I’m just taking a wild guess here that there will be LOTS more of these kinds of Republican voters…this post was taken from Media Matters…they were talking about Rush…and this Republican, is disgusted with their party:
Actually I am a life long Republican but I am so appalled at the racist swill coming out of the party of Lincoln that I am re-registering also. Republican nuts like Rush have made it impossible for any Christian to maintain any relationship with that party that now completely ignores the values of Lincoln. Amazing that the party has not made it clear that Rush does not speak for them.
It’s not just Rush, though. It’s the entire party, who applaud sending sick people to their deaths, driving seniors into poverty, depriving children of food programs and a decent education, making excuses for racist emails and disgusting comments about the First Family… It’s not just Rush.
Goodnight and sweet dreams TODObots! Kitty had a fantastic time earlier chasing the ends of the metal sticks that came with our new 2012 YARD SIGN! Yay, it’s finally here! Until tomorrow…
Honestly, ck, have you ever seen such a thing? NOBODY can stand the man. It’s just a joke. We’re going to see the media go to some pretty crazy extremes to make this OK.
They’re already are. All this focus on same-sex marriage and PBO is to distract from the train wreck and failure of Willard in his own party. If it were President Obama getting those kind of lukewarm (non) endorsements and someone like Dennis Kucinch kept taking all his delegates, that’s all the media would be talking about and nothing else. The media is going overboard in the protection of Romney for reasons that are only partly obvious to me.
I worked the Ready to Go Rally at The Ohio State University’s newest basketball arena at The Schott this saturday – it is 2 traffic lights away from my place. In the end I was standing behind PBO and the Daylife professional photo journalists recorded my presence as part of the crowd.
the place was packed except for a small section of the top most rafter seats that was purposefully closed off from people. the O-supporters could not go there until the people who manage the arena said they could.
the OSU staff was very professional in the way they directed the sea of supporters and they worked very closely with the volunteers. I do not know where the press got this garbage of a half-full stadium.
do you notice that these stupid reports did not come from the local media outlets in Ohio but rather by the vindictive DC media O-haters? Loacl coverage was very positive and they documented the excited huge crowd in the arena
St John’s arena is still operational but it is no longer the official home of the OSU basket ball team. Now it is the newer one at Value-City Arena at The Schostein’s Center at the corner or Lane and Olentangy (opposite the Facet Center).
St John’s Arena is still used for many other events including one of the rallies that were for then-Senator Obama in 2008. I remember this one because it was held in deep winter but the lines were very long even as it snowed.
Do you have any links to local papers that have pics and talk about the crowd size and enthusiasm?
Please let us see them and we can direct them the the media.

i could see mittbot’s campaign not minding that too much, since it’s a vain attempt at getting independent voters, which might even include some ron paul types. wonder if it turns off more hardcore republicans though than others that it gets.
Our PBO is a good and honest politician, a middle class representative for the people….forget Mitt, he is a rich, white, enbalanced figure head that the republican party can prop up to fight the battle. Just wait till the debates think Mitt sounds loony now…. I imagine falling out of my bed onto the floor with laughter over some of Mitt’s responses. Stay tuned for the follies….coming soon…..to your national TV screen. The best man will succeed.
I thought little Johnnies mom was gonna smack in the head talking about her opinion is not his, “then why you asked to be on this stupid show then”? I bet she told him, with all you have going for you, you mean to tell me you couldn’t beat that skinny kid with the funny name?

We’re a bit late to this, but expect to see this bit of video of Mitt Romney in some form of an attack ad soon:
At a town hall-style meeting Monday in Cleveland, the GOP presidential candidate got this pointed question about his investments: In this age of tough foreign competition, could Romney explain the “over $1.5 million in foreign tax credits” he received since 2000?
“I’m not familiar with that,” Romney told the man who asked. The crowd booed. “I didn’t think I paid any foreign income taxes, but I’ll be happy to take a look at it.”
In fact, Romney and his wife, Ann, paid more than $1.2 million in foreign taxes on so-called passive investments from 2000 through 2010, and paid about $800,000 in taxes on general income to unspecified countries. That’s according to the couple’s own tax returns.
Their foreign tax bills entitled them to more than $1.5 million in tax credits in the United States since 2000, thanks to Internal Revenue Service rules that prevent businesses and investors from being doubly taxed on money they earn abroad.
So why do the rethugs want him for their candidate? They like that he has no core. 44 plus presidential races in this country and none come close to the lifeless, coreless pimp that is Robme. What a dubious distinction.
But just the kind of person the republicans admire.
I usually don’t comment on these type of discussions but I have a need to on the marriage equality freakout.

I think the president is getting the churches on board, just like he did with the military & DADT. Just cause you don’t see something happening doesn’t mean nothing’s happening…behind the scenes.
At least that’s what I hope he’s doing. Why? Because as we learned from the birth control ‘fight’ people are still led by the church on these type of moral issues. People’s stance on that shocked me. Imagine if he says unilaterally okay it’s the law now. What do you think the clergy and most religious groups will do?
While some may perfrom LGBT marriages, most will not. They’ve been fighting to inject themselves into government but squeal like pigs when it’s the other way around. Quite frankly, the way everyone leaves PBO to do the fighting alone, he would be setting himself up big time.
Now we may feel a certain sense of righteousness at watching him bloodied on the floor (figuratively speaking) knowing he fought the good fight, but it advances nothing in real life but bouy up the religious fanatics and those too afraid to go against their religious doctrine.
This doctrine has been in force for over 2,000 yrs, but PBO HAS to fix it in his first term or he’s inadequate and letting people down.
And just why aren’t those so adamantly for marriage equality taking it to their religious leaders? Imagine how quickly things will change then! But no, it’s more of the ‘Obama isn’t doing it quickly enough syndrome’.
The media led by KKKarl Rove is pulling everyones chains. We want this and we want it now, because we are being told it isn’t happening fast enough even in the face of all he’s done.

Okay, back to my normally scheduled programming…..which is heading to bed.
Yes globalcitizenlinda, I did notice. I loved the local coverage. Per usual it was heads and tails above the jackels.
I luv luv that panoramic pic of the stadium. She’s good.
thank you. agree with that. it’s what he does much of time, and it’s what is mis-named by our republican owned msm as ‘eading from behind. yes, biden and duncan et al should be leading on this, and hopefully a few other big names will step up to. just as it has worked on so many other issue so far without PBO losing too many independent voters and keeping the republican-biased msm off his back.
Like many said in the other thread. His religious beliefs shouldn’t even be on the table. Whatever he beliefs in his heart, is just that, in his heart. Furthermore, I don’t see how he is letting the gay community down, when he has never said he was against them getting married. Like many have said his actions speak louder than words.
The Rumor is, that they have done some polling and will lose a lot of Reagan Democrats and quite possibly Pennsylvania!
Like always, he has his reasons!
I’m sorry…but I never once heard the President promise any “free stuff” to students…did you? MItt must be listening to those delusional voices in his head again
The other thing to keep in mind is that the people he’s speaking to spend their days and nights justifying their hatred and racism towards President Obama by listening to Rush Limbaugh. That’s whom he’s talking to – not reasonable, thinking, fair people.
desertflower, This is what piss me off, is people listening to that man? Do they see how much Romney lies? Or they don’t care. Don’t they know you can’t trust a liar?
MrSketch is playing into the right wing idea that Democrats have to buy or give handouts for votes.
This guy is no moderate and I wish people would stop saying he is. He’s an OPPORTUNIST who will say whatever gets him support.
Thats not a leader, it’s a puppet and him as president & allowing himself to be pushed around by the freak right scares me.
Last Minute Unity Government Nixes Early Election Plans
PM Netanyahu and Opposition leader Mofaz form a unity government in dead of night, nixing plans for early elections.
This bit of desperation by both Netanyahu & Mofaz will do neither of them and their parties any good … Israel may be on the verge of an “Israeli Summer” since Spring is almost 1/2 over 😉
the gop is using a few bribed or crazy black people to utter such nonsense that they hope to use this garbage to discourage or pit one group of PBO supporters against each other
Here in Wisconsin we are going to the polls today to pick some one to get rid of Walker and I am excited. I will be voting for Tom Barrett eventhough Kathleen Folk is a women. She is known only around Madison – up noth here not many people know about her. My daughter worked with Mayor Barrret for a while. She really think highly of him and he has the best chance of defeating Walker.
This is my take on the gay marriage issue aka the latest nontroversy du jour.
Seriously. What more do you want?
No one gets to demand that this President come out for gay marriage.
Do you know that gay marriage got defeated in the Liberal oasis that is California? We have an election to win. I will repeat that. WE HAVE AN ELECTION TO WIN. If PBO has looked at the landscape and decided this is too politically risky for the Democrats who are we to judge him? If he decides the political landscape is ok and he comes out for gay marriage, who are we to judge him? Do you think a Romney presidency would magically provide 100% equality for the LGBT community? Words are cheap. Actions speak louder.
We have an election to win people. We have an election to win. Every state is crucial in this election and as much as I respect you all, you don’t get to dictate to President Obama how he goes about in laying the groundwork and winning.
UT, I’m on my feet, applauding you. You are so right and you stated it so perfectly. This issue is a media put-up job to distract us from Romney’s fail and to divide Democrats. Emoprogs are falling for it because they want to hold PBO to a standard of perfection as they define it, though they’re willing to let Romney get away with every kind of lie, cowardice and bigotry. We can’t fall into the trap as you so eloquently stated.
You make excellent points. The fact that Amendment One will probably pass in NC tells it all. I wish the people screaming at President Obama wake up to the reality. God, what those people want? Seven conservative judges? A republican Congress that will destroy the middle class for good? A republican neo-con president who will bomb Iran without pondering the consequences?
I’m convinced that gay marriage will come eventually. It’s just a question of time because the new generation are much more open to this. What I find extremely concerning though is that conservatives know about the demographics, so they’re using state constitutions. Since Amendment One is probably going to pass in NC, watch a lot of states in the South going the same path. Very sad. It will take at least a generation to undo the damage. The only bit of hope I have is that like Bill Clinton said, NC will pay a price economically. It could give pause to other southern states.
One of the things I have also noted over time is how people keep moving the goal post for PBO on the LGBT issue. Why?
Is there any other group that supports PBO that has demanded that he addresses ALL their issues 100% during his first term? I am aware we AA and Latinos have issues not yet addressed 100% but we are not threatening PBO that we are withholding our money and support. As far as AA and Latinos are concerned, we may believe that our issues SHOULD be the number 1 priority of this President but we also know that PBO will act in a way that serves our interests and when the opportunity arises, he will do the right thing
UT, this is brilliantly stated! I just don’t get the insistence that Barack Obama has to constantly prove to people where he is for them when he’s already head and shoulders above any President or elected official on this very issue!
I’m very glad that you spoke of the NC amendment in detail – because many of these so-called emoprogs/pundits who jumped on the SSM issue as soon as that hack Chuck Todd tweeted about it from his lofty perch, don’t have a clue as to what is going on in NC – nor do they really care! They only care about an issue insofar as they can use it to attack or embarrass President Obama and undermine his support among key groups. That’s the high hypocrisy and dishonesty that we’re dealing with here.
FDR, the progressive hero, did not support anti-lynching laws in an election year because he felt he could do A LOT more good in that area if he first got the votes of the racist Dixiecrats in the south and received an additional term. President Obama is first and foremost a politician – his job is not to sooth and satisfy every little emotional need we have. His priority is FIRST and FOREMOST to win elections so that he can then push the legislation that would ultimately benefit the American people.
What good is it if PBO stood on a stage and announced that he’s for SSM only to have Willard elected and inaugurated in January 2013? Not to mention the loss of the senate AND house that usually goes with the loss of the Presidency? Who is that really benefiting besides the same damn pundiots who are braying right now?!?!?
some people get to personally benefit from a loss by President Obama and they really could care less about the masses of others who might loose IT ALL if mitt the entitled layer were to win
Good Morning Miss Chips and everyone here at TOD, regular contributors and others like me, devoted lurkers. Please forgive my long post.
I come here daily to this place to enjoy and share the love you have and that all of us from outside the USA have for this Great man President Barack Obama. I am saddened to see that the “others” are trying and on this topic of gay marriage seem to be winning in their determination to divide PBO’s supporters.
My heart was heavy with sadness until I read this wonderful, emotional, from the heart comment from UTAUSTINLIBERAL expressing everything and more that I wanted to say, to remind everyone at TOD just what is at stake in this election. I have read many times here at TOD contributors discussing how disheartening it was to hear people say that they will not vote for him because of their one issue that he may have not yet addressed. They spoke of the many things that needed to be fixed, the people who were desperate for his help which made it all the more important that he be given another term to complete the mission.
I have no right to get into the middle of this discussion as I am not eligible to vote in your election, but please read UT’s thoughts on this subject again and realize that if they, “the others “are allowed to divide you here at TOD then just imagine how easy it will be for them to succeed in doing the same around the Country and win the election in November.
Please accept my thoughts on the subject this morning, you see I love you all; you are my Family too and would like to see (my) President Obama be elected to continue his Great work for the USA and the World.
Thank you.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Taxpayers could realize a profit of more than $15.1 billion from the massive government bailout of insurer American International Group, a congressional watchdog said.
According to a report by the Government Accountability Office issued on Monday, the total return depends on the overall health of AIG and a number of other factors relating to Treasury’s ownership stake.
The U.S. Treasury acquired shares in AIG as part of a $182 billion bailout of the insurer in 2008, the largest rescue of a single corporation, and has reduced the investment over time.
Treasury sold AIG common stock in May 2011 and this March. Another sale on Monday – that realized $5.8 billion – reduced taxpayer equity interest in AIG to 61 percent.
The Dishonesty is breathtaking and I’m glad the MSM is finally calling Mom Jeans Out.
Campaigning in the backyard of America’s auto industry, Mitt Romney re-ignited the bailout debate by suggesting he deserves “a lot of credit” for the recent successes of the nation’s largest car companies.
That claims comes in spite of his stance that Detroit should have been allowed to go bankrupt.
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee told a Cleveland television station on Monday that President Barack Obama followed his lead when he ushered auto companies through a managed bankruptcy soon after taking office.
“I pushed the idea of a managed bankruptcy, and finally when that was done, and help was given, the companies got back on their feet,” Romney said in an interview inside a Cleveland-area auto parts maker. “So, I’ll take a lot of credit for the fact that this industry has come back.”
Romney has repeatedly argued that Obama ultimately took his advice on the auto industry’s woes of 2008 and 2009. But he went further on Monday by saying he deserves credit for its ultimate turnaround.
The course Romney advocated differed greatly from the one that was ultimately taken. GM and Chrysler went into bankruptcy on the strength of a massive bailout that Romney opposed. Neither Republican President George W. Bush nor Democratic President Barack Obama believed the automakers would have survived without that backup from taxpayers.
Our number one issue of today and everyday should be call out mitt the entitled liar on his lies.
today, we should spend a significant amount of time pushing back against mitt the entitled liar’s attempts to take credit for the recovery of the auto industry.
But why is it trending toward Robney? Are they doing a better job at driving the message?
It will be great when the President campaigns full time, hit back at all these non stories, real time!
No these polls will fluctuate back and forth. And the national polls tell only half the story. Obama is leading in key states like Iowa and OH.
Romney is doing a piss poor job but the media has the megaphone, and unfortunately, some of us (even on this blog) play right into the MSM’s hands by focusing on PBO’s so-called deficits instead of keeping the focus on Willard where it should be.
ANDREW SULLIVAN, “So Did Biden Back Marriage Equality? Nope.”: “I can’t say I care that much, but I’d say, based on his precise remarks, that the answer is still no. Why do I not care? This movement is about persuading ordinary Americans that gay people are human too, and that our committed relationships are worth supporting within the existing family structure, i.e. marriage, rather than in some separate, balkanized category. We will win not by begging presidents to back us (they have no role in a matter involving state legislatures, governors and courts)
Me?
My seat is not empty!
Congrats Pamela on #1!

okay, so I didn’t see your link. Sorry, but the pics are so great. I just want everybody to see them!!!!
Thanks so much, guys! (By the way, it’s “Anne”, not “Ann”. She says she looks nekkid without the “e” ; )
The height of Romney’s disingenuousness knows no bounds.
Hay Mitt Romney, why don’t you take credit for Osama bin Laden being kill too. Heck tell the world you lead the Navy Six team, flew the helicopter.
Correction…that would be Navy Seal Team Seven :). I really can’t stand that swagger jacking wax figure.
It makes as much sense for willard to boast he’s one of bin laden’s wives as his lies about Detroit.
Disingenuousness is such a polite word for mrthrfkkn, craven, shameless, pathological, habitual LIAR.
Agreed. If the media ever decided to tell the truth about PBO and his policies and Williard and the GOP we would win in a walk.
This man is either deeply disturbed or convinced that most of this country is stupid.
Most of the Republicans are stupid
The observation has been posted many times on this site, I’m sure: “Not all conservatives are stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives.”
Yes, either that or just brainwashed.
Or both…
I’m going with deeply disturbed. I really think there is something seriously wrong with Mitt Romney. I have never seen a politician lie all the time. I have no idea what he stands for and I don’t believe a word he says.
I agree. He is not playing with a full deck.

MORE INDICTMENT OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA

Obama!
I am beginning to think, that the problem lies largely within their own Community!
Just saying!
Chips, love your sense of humor. Some of your titles are so tongue-in-cheek!
Good stuff!
These are amazing photos.
While looking at those fabulous pics over at Eclectablog, I ran across THIS!!
An often-forgotten fact about George W. Bush’s “Mission Accomplished” speech – UPDATED
The day Bush landed on the USS Lincoln, it was just 30 miles from shore near San Diego, California.
Oh yeah, PBO is “politicizing” getting Osama bin Laden.
Yeah, whatever, REthugs, whatever….
I also heard that the troops on the ship (I’m sure I blew both of those terms) were due to go on leave the day before, but were forced to stay on duty one more day to allow for that photo-op.
I think it was more than one day. I think it was several days.
Am in tears. Lawrence just showed a clip of the preacher talking about the NC ammendement. Bigots will burn in HELL.
I saw that….touching
AWSOMEEEEEEEEEE SPEECH….
Hey Pretty foot, I just posted a bit of it below. Scroll down… vvvvv
Indeed. Now just imagine the affect of PBO giving his full support to gay marriage.
His name is: Rev. Dr.,William J. Barber. HZ
He is going to be a guest on Tuesday make sure you watch Lawrence O.
I just read a Tweet on that link about GWB and “Mission Accomplished” story. “Well, it’s official. PO just won re-election. How do I know? Dick Morris just predicted a big Romney win.” 🙂 🙂
President Obama-a mover, a shaker and THE real newsmaker!!!!
You sound like Eminem!
Er, um, is that good?
Yeah! Why not?

NICE!!
Even taking away, Florida and some other swing states, PBO will win!
Okay for anyone who is interested in why there is “pushback” on the issue of gay marriage, I’m pulling some comments from Pragmatic Obots Unite – Monday Afternoon Thread: Romney’s turrible…just turrible . Be open minded. This is real stuff here.

h/t Angee
Hey Everybody!!!!
As you all know we will be voting AGAINST Amendment 1 in NC tomorrow. This is what happened in my city of Greensboro last night:
Clergy Rebukes Media for Asking Wrong Questions About Amendment One – video
Black clergy fight Amendment One – article: News & Record, Greensboro, North Carolina
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
h/t Monie
what pisses me off the most is this laser focus at every PL and liberal leaning website about how will Black people vote on this Amendement.
Give me one damn instance where a Black person or majority Black group has submitted one amendment to put on the ballot.
How come no one is breaking down the support of gay marriage by rich white women, young white college males and females, suburban white soccer moms, white atheists, Buddhists, yoga lovers, frozen yogurt eaters…..I mean it is getting ridiculous. All everyone wants to know is how Black folk will vote….they want so badly to say we blocked progress and in turn the pundances will write that the LGBT will retaliate in Nov.
The video that angee posted of the Black clergy was brilliant. However I have NEVER seen any of the well known (mostly white) LGBT PL crew speak in such a manner. Instead we hear their usual anti-Obama venom, the rest have been as crude as Dan “Fuck you Mr. President” Savage, making young Christian students walk out of a forum for belittling them.
I posted an 2004 article on the Monday thread about how marriage amendments likely helped GWB win the election , and there was a quote by a LGBT activist that spoke truth:
“There was never any attempt to counter the minority, right-wing religious morality that Bush was preaching with morality about equality and being in a country that welcomes and embraces diversity and is based on freedom of religion and freedom of beliefs,” Kors said.
And the LGBT still don’t get how to do this in a constructive matter to this day.
On the eve of this vote, all they can come up with is what is the President’s position
Somebody tell me, how the fuck does that help them tomorrow?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Reverend Barber is an impressive man. I’ve never heard him before.
I’m beyond furious.
Darth Vader Cheney doesn’t really care, he just want one of the few people who actually care about him to still talk to him…)
Chips,
How about scrounging up a ” time-out ” room, in the order of the naughty mat? I think that would be helpful, since or all us will probably freak out between now and November 6th.
Ha, sounds like an excellent idea Eve! I suspect I’ll be in the time-out room most of the time!
Chica, I’ll bring the pizza. A girl’s gotta eat!! 😀
You gotta make sure she goes in empty handed. No naughty mats allowed in the TO room. 😀
Yeah, well I’m thinking PADDED ROOM by the time this thing is all said and done! I just can’t stand the stupid!! Can we have pizza in the padded room?
Maybe a little wine, too? 😉
You may as well hand me the keys. I’m certain I’ll be spending a lot of time in there ( wish Obama was in there too)
Whaaaaaaa? Who said that?
Eveingeorgia, that is a great idea…. Maybe people could put themselves in there, and just stop posting when the going gets rough. One person we KNOW will never be in there is PBO, right Sir? He is just too darned busy working his more-than-full-time-JOB, as well as having to campaign against a nincompoop who hasn’t held a job in years (if ever), and who has lots of time to swan around the country fanning his lying s.o.b pathetic simpleton personality to the rest of them…
From Balloon Juice: “We Know What A Trojan Look Like”.
Must watch. Pastor on Amendment One (?) in North Carolina.
Wow oh wow!!!
oh my goodness, thank you for introducing me to rev. dr. william j. barber!!! i’ve been watching other videos of him on youtube and i’m a mess of tears. i have this vision now of him speaking at the dnc convention or PBO’s next inauguration. wow oh wow! here are some others i just saw:
this mans needs a giant megaphone. he makes so much sense that we know the people who employee jake yapper won’t give him one…maybe PBO can help bring him to bring more people. wow.
thanks again, gobrooklyn!!
Thank you, thank you for posting this video!!
A great man with a great message.
Thank you for sharing your views on this, Bill R. I enjoyed reading your long view!
I agree with this. I don’t think he should be forced to express his personal views. Obviously he favors gay rights and has done more than any other President for the LGBT movement.
Like I said on the last thread, if he wants to support SSM publicly, that is his choice to do so. This whole thing is irritating me.
I agree once again.
Yep, I understand the argument on both sides. I trust him to do what’s in his heart. Time will tell.
Honestly, I have actually struggled w/ the same thing.
I agree BillR. Your post expresses what I believe too. Thanks.
“No matter how much good he has done for gays, he’ll be remembered as being on the wrong side of the last big civil right issue. ”
Can’t let this go with out respectfully calling BS on this one BWD.
And I respectfully stand by it. I guess we leave it there.
THANK YOU!!!
THIS A BILLION TIMES OVER. Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face.
Thank you. “We have an election to win.”
Bravo!!! Thank you for this post!
A great description of the Big Picture.
From africa on the last post. IMPORTANT NEWS! IS THIS PBO’S FAULT TOO?
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/us-to-run-first-surplus-since-2008-cbo-2012-05-07
The U.S. government recorded a budget surplus of $58 billion in April, the Congressional Budget Office estimated on Monday, breaking a streak of deficits that began in 2008.
U.S. to run first surplus since 2008
Thanks to both increased tax collection and lower government spending, the government recorded a budget surplus of $58 billion in April, the Congressional Budget Office says.
It will be Breaking news, with that Red Arrow going back and forth!
How entertaining.
Since I don’t watch Stewart, what is his problem? It’s clear this is personal with him.
He was Weiners Roomate in College and between the two of them- well- were they not huge Clinton supporters?
So, they’re blaming President Obama for Weiner’s own stupidity? Typical.

Entitled jerk…you know, the rules are NEVER made for people like him

Breaking news:
Santorum endorses Romney via email.
BwwaBAwwahhhahaaaa!!
WTF?
Then there is the thorn in Romney’s side:
Ron Paul backers make GOP’s lives more complicated

THE CIRCUS IS NOT OVER.
now that is funny as heck.
Is there a link meta?
No more St John’s Arena??

I know what that completely Republican state was that Mitt talks about — the godforsakenstate of Utah.
What was that Liberal Democrat doing endorsing Romney? Why is it always Democrats stabbing other Democrats in the back?
Our PBO is a good and honest politician, a middle class representative for the people….forget Mitt, he is a rich, white, enbalanced figure head that the republican party can prop up to fight the battle. Just wait till the debates think Mitt sounds loony now…. I imagine falling out of my bed onto the floor with laughter over some of Mitt’s responses.
Oooops
He’s such an easy target.
So why do the rethugs want him for their candidate? They like that he has no core. 44 plus presidential races in this country and none come close to the lifeless, coreless pimp that is Robme. What a dubious distinction.
But just the kind of person the republicans admire.
I usually don’t comment on these type of discussions but I have a need to on the marriage equality freakout.
rant/

Someone requested the ‘I got this, chill the phuck out’ picture. I second the request.
You make a lot of sense Lunarsea.
The Rumor is, that they have done some polling and will lose a lot of Reagan Democrats and quite possibly Pennsylvania!
Like always, he has his reasons!
Word.
I’m sorry…but I never once heard the President promise any “free stuff” to students…did you? MItt must be listening to those delusional voices in his head again
http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/romney-obama-will-promise-free-stuff-to-win
Funny. Unlike Romney’s free stuff…like oil subsidies,no regulations, more free money for millionaires…THAT free stuff? Christ on a crutch.
yep
When you hear Mitt speak, you need to keep these three factoids in mind:
1. he’s a liar
2. he’s lying
3. he lies without conscience
Give his statements the weight they deserve, then go call him out -lol
Exactly. That’s so sick.

She really think highly of him and he has the best chance of defeating Walker.
good luck to WI Dems, that walker has to go!!
This is my take on the gay marriage issue aka the latest nontroversy du jour.

Here is one for ya-
US Big Businesses make over 800 billion last year, breaking records, and yet the President is supposedly anti- business!

But but but…
The Dishonesty is breathtaking and I’m glad the MSM is finally calling Mom Jeans Out.
Romney opposed taxpayer help

I made mistake of posting this on wrong thread. Running late and not paying close enough attention. Anyway enjoy a day in the life of PBO
Our number one issue of today and everyday should be call out mitt the entitled liar on his lies.
today, we should spend a significant amount of time pushing back against mitt the entitled liar’s attempts to take credit for the recovery of the auto industry.
what a liar this mitt is!!!
Andrew Sullivan’s take:
ANDREW SULLIVAN, “So Did Biden Back Marriage Equality? Nope.”: “I can’t say I care that much, but I’d say, based on his precise remarks, that the answer is still no. Why do I not care? This movement is about persuading ordinary Americans that gay people are human too, and that our committed relationships are worth supporting within the existing family structure, i.e. marriage, rather than in some separate, balkanized category. We will win not by begging presidents to back us (they have no role in a matter involving state legislatures, governors and courts)
Morning everyone:
