Weren’t we all? Be warned: if you leave your computer and come back, even if you’re still logged in, you have to RE-CHECK the box at the bottom of your comment to make sure it doesn’t continue to happen. This is Bullshit.

Fortunately I have Gmail, so it’s all in one nice bundle, but, yes, seems as if WordPress is having issues again. Usually you have to opt in to follow a thread via email. Now it seems like WordPress is defaulting to that setting.

My experience is that you will have to continue to uncheck the box. It appears to default back to that setting if you leave the computer for awhile. I keep TOD up all the time so this is a major pain in the ass that I don’t have time for.

PJ, On a serious note. Please, please, remember to have something to eat before you go. Go potty before you go. There is A LOT OF WAITING!!! Minimize what you carry. Wear comfy shoes, ID, keys, and if you’re like me, lipstick, (gotta have it or some kind of lip moisturizer.) And of course, wear some Obama swag. That should be it. And some cash… There will also probably be vendors selling stuff. I know it’s not campaign stuff, but in Philly there was some unique Obama gear. They may not let you take water in unless absolutely medically necessary. But they usually have free bottled water inside.

The large rallies are worth the wait, they really are!

But fo’ sheezy, my PJeeeezy, THERE IS A WHOLE LOTTA WEEEEZY!!

Near the end of West Wing Week, there is that brief glimps of PBO reaching over to embrace Michelle and to pull her in for a kiss. So sweet and loving. There is just something about a man who has an unabashed love and respect for his wife that makes him even more attractive. Most who see this have no designs on the couple involved: they are just glad to know that such a love really does exist and that it may be possible for them. Additionally, there is something comforting and reassuring in knowing that the First Couple have a vibrant love between them.

Stay constantly focused on the facts:

For those way younger than me, you likely have no experience crouching under your grade school desk (1950s) as the sirens blared once a month in practice drills for ‘the big one’ and the announcer on the radio would say ‘This is a test’ and you’d it would beep for a minute. That’s the essence of this >>> #AmericaThisIsNOTATest

Because 6 Nov 2012 is not a test, it is the day we determine the fate of the Republic, for real. This is ‘the BIG ONE’!

    • 65 Bobfr (aka Our4thEstate)

Great work Bob. And I do remember those drills. November 2012 is the continuation of a better value system for the country, if folks are so inclined to see it through.

      • May 3, 2012 at 10:35 pm

Duck and cover drills leave a scar on a young primary student that last a lifetime. It seems that we have been at war all of my life.

          May 4, 2012 at 1:52 am

So very true, Sonjia. And, thank you EDP4BHO!

Hopefully, you all know by now, I’m not into drama or hyperbole.

The hash tag #AmericaThisIsNotATest occurred to me one night as I pondered the severity of the crisis within our Republic.

No external organization, not China or a bunch of thug terrorists, pose nearly the threat to the one guiding force for justice and the rights of each person, that the #KOCHSTERS, the #NEOCONSTERS, the MIC, yes, the very white, ultra-wealthy, totally avaricious few ‘Americans’ do.

Every great civilization has always been most threatened by the few, WITHIN.

          That is America, TODAY.

What we do, or don’t do, on 6 Nov 2012, determines the fate of the Republic – IN REAL TIME.

Make no mistake, anyone — other than the very few, totally ANTI-REPUBLIC, ANTI-democracy few — who awaken on 7 Nov 2012 to anything other than a resounding VICTORY by President Obama and a majority of Democrats in the House & Senate & State Houses will awaken to the equivalent of the Confederacy being victorious in 1865, compounded by the fact that the Confederacy of 2013 will be a NUCLEAR #NEOCONSTER PLUTOCRACY.

          No joke.

          No hyperbole.

That tool was great–I sent it far and wide. I hated that Julia’s time line didn’t go on past the age of 67. We left her working in a community garden. What happens next? If the right wing didn’t like this, tough. Maybe if they actually did something FOR women instead of waring AGAINST them, they’d have something of their own to offer. The president’s team is awesome and unbelievably creative.

Yes, Jackie, it would have been good for them to extend it even further … and, perhaps that’s the plan … let the #KOCHSTERS whine and then go, well, if Mitt had been elected President Julia would likely not have made it to 67, let alone where we will find her by the end of President Obama’s 2nd term – happily celebrating her 72nd birthday πŸ™‚

    Evening TOD

President Obama is also good for ratings….according to TVByTheNumbers:

“On Tuesday, Jimmy Fallon delivered his biggest 18-49 audience for a regular episode so far this season with a special telecast from Chapel Hill, N.C. featuring President Obama, which delivered 853,000 adults 18-49 for a 0.7 rating in that key category. In total viewers, Tuesday’s telecast averaged 2.0 million persons, a 19 percent jump versus the 1.7 million the show has averaged this season in comparable β€œlive plus same day”

since they have been so negative on President Obama, especially CNN and MSNBC Morning Joe
it reflects in the ratings, every time the go negative on President Obama their ratings take
a nose dive…Morning Joe, Tweety and CNN has suffered the most for going negative.

Many people wonder why some are so hard on President Obama. Did Frederick Douglass predict the answer many years ago?

β€œThough the colored man is no longer subject to barter and sale, he is surrounded by an adverse settlement which fetters all his movements.

In his downward course he meets with no resistance, but his course upward is resented and resisted at every step of his progress.

If he comes in ignorance, rags and wretchedness he conforms to the popular belief of his character, and in that character he is welcome; but if he shall come as a gentleman, a scholar and a statesman, he is hailed as a contradiction to the national faith concerning his race, and his coming is resented as impudence.
      Frederick Douglass – September 25, 1883

Frederick Douglass sought to embody three keys for success in life:
      Believe in yourself.
      Take advantage of every opportunity.
Use the power of spoken and written language to effect positive change for yourself and society.
Rosa sat so Martin could walk, Martin walked so Obama could run, Obama ran so our children could fly!!

“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men”
      Frederick Douglas

I did what I thought got me off the subscription list, and when I just closed this blog and went back to my email, I had one comment in my email…..I followed the subscription management and was asked if I wanted to “unfollow” the blog. I put “unfollowed” in quotation marks, because that is not a true word, and that made this English teacher gnash her teeth…..can’t stand those phony made up words.

hilarious and exactly as i expected…elizabeth warren goes full-on obama with her latest ad, and “true progressives” start getting uncomfortable and their feeble minds can’t compute. dailykos has a frontpage post right now (refuse to link there) from a main contributor, and it’s blaming the victim, as in warren, for not responding just right to the latest republican/media creation. it’s a complete non-issue the republican/media cabal are flogging right now, yet leave it to the dkos frontpager, who has never run a campaign or probably has rarely even supported a winning campaign, to fall right into the trap and lecture elizabeth warren on how to run a campaign. comical!

for a while there have been comments at those places starting to sour on warren since she keeps talking nicely about PBO, but now the frontpagers will start and the floodgates will open. exactly as the republican operatives planned. just wait until warren is a senator and has to start voting, then they’ll really freak! we should not be concerned about pleasing “true progressives” at all, and should be encouraging them to start 3rd party or nader right now! go away! they diminish anything they touch.

My nephew’s school had a contest where the students had to draw a picture of the school mascot, the winner’s drawing would be made into a t-shirt. Well my nephew’s drawing won the contest and his drawing was made into shirts for the whole school and the t-shirts included his signatures as well. I photoshopped the signature (to protect the innocent…lol), but here is the finished product. My sister is SOOOO proud.

This was a show of true leadership by President Obama, and the people who are not quiet sure about who to vote for need to watch this. And you will see a real leader at hand, someone you can have real confidence in to do the right thing for this country. President Obama. And the way Mitt Romney has flip flop over ever dam issue under the sun, you can not be sure he would have made the same decision President Obama made. This program is worth watching.

the upcoming rally by POTUS and FLOTUS at OSU this sat is making me feel nostalgic. for some reason, I am remembering the very first visit PBO made to our college town and how many “establishment Dems” shunned him!

of course our college contingent that worked to organize the rally and was very loud and excited. we made so much noise that by the time PBO took the stage we had almost lost our voices!!

on a personal note, apart from the memories and photos from that cold day,

I got three things I treasure namely:

    (a) a group photo with PBO with him standing just one person away;

    (b) my volunteer pass and admission ticket – yes I saved these

    (c) signature from PBO in his two books which I then promptly delivered to my father back in Africa. My parents are great admirers of PBO and FLOTUS and so my father is able to pose to everyone whom he can talk to that he is probably the first person in our continent to receive autographed copies of PBO’s books. Yes he has read them over, and oover, and over

China says blind dissident Chen Guangcheng can apply to study abroad, potentially indicating a way out of the diplomatic crisis with the US over him.

A Foreign Ministry statement said Mr Chen could “apply through normal channels in accordance with the law”.

Mr Chen fled house arrest late last month to the US embassy. He later left but now wants to go to the US with his family.

His case has overshadowed high-level US-China talks taking place in Beijing.

“If he wishes to study overseas, as a Chinese citizen, he can, like any other Chinese citizens, process relevant procedures with relevant department through normal channels in accordance to the law,” Xinhua news agency quoted spokesman Liu Weimin as saying.
