Our wonderful President just gave the most beautiful speech to the troops. He told them how proud of them he was and how proud the people in the states were of them and when the story is told it will be how wonderful they were. This isn’t word for word. I had tears in my eyes. This is a man who really cares and knows what he is doing!

He’s addressing the nation at 7:30. This was him addressing the troops, thanking them for all they have done, their sacrifices, that there may still be rough days ahead but the nation is grateful and will remain grateful when they come home and said he was so proud of them. It was pitch perfect.
I just checked Al Jazeera and the BBC and listened to the reporter on BBC talk about the signing of the document and how President Obama arrived there today, his last visit there in 2010, the tone was factual and positive and he actually said this is important not just for the U.S. but for the world … so unlike our media reports in this country, our own country, who should support their President in this endeavor. President Obama has changed the perception of the United States in the world’s eyes. He is truly a leader looked up to by the whole world. I feel that to elect a Republican (unless the GOP drastically changes) anytime in the next 16 years, we will be screwed!
It would be so nice, an understatement, if we could just once in a while get positive objective reporting from our news media on an event like this, straight reporting without always looking to add the negative slant, supportive of our American president and the efforts he is making to bring this war to a wise, sensible conclusion——and all he is doing domestically to try to right the ship— and on the world stage.
And can we please get Dylan Ratfucker off of MSNBC? The Scar should be sufficient for the token conservative.

I am always worried when I hear of the President visiting countries such as Afghanistan or Iraq. Now you would think these reporters who reported the President’s arrival before time would know better and you have to wonder about their motive sometimes.

The fact of the matter is, Afghanistan has been hard done by by the rest of the world since 1979. It was a pawn between 2 superpowers, then abandoned once the game was over. It was left to fester, and US policy—under both Bush I and Clinton and Bush II—led directly to 9/11. Then Bush II bombed whatever was left to bomb, declared victory, and turned to the neocon wet dream of Iraq. The world OWES Afghanistan, if only out of self-interest.

What I heard from Chris Matthews was amazing…..he said it was the equivalent of Henry V’s famous Agincourt speech in the play…..Even Gloria Borger on CNN said it was just perfect! I believe that Our CIC is the bravest, smartest leader we have ever had. He is one of a kind. I don’t think anyone will every replace his remarkable place in history. He has won back the hearts of the military. He is genuine and compassionate. May the Light of all that is good surround him always and protect him forever. I pray that historians speak truth in the books published in years to come. Barb
