    I’m watching MTP rerun. Poor Ed Gillespie, he has to try and make Mitty look good. That ain’t easy. David Gregory is like, ‘I can’t even help him out, just no there,there’.

    Watching MTP rerun and oh my goodness if Ed Gillepsie is the best Romney can do then he’s in trouble. Ed Gillepsie is a moron. An utter moron. Gregory actually asked him semi-tough ( in the real world, those questions are soft ball but hey this is David and MTP) questions and exposed how moronic he is.

    Robert Gibbs is fantastic!

      David Gregory: No but are we SAFER?

      Ed Gillepsie: Well, we..er..er..uh..ah..uh..er..er..uh..uh..ah..ah..oooh..er..er…aaaah…argh..ugh..huh..duh..er..poof…ooops..

    Not too long ago a TODobot (I THINK it was 57 & Female) introduced us to an article about the WinningWords project – a site designed to help Dems in effective framing of our message. Well, here is their philosophy explained in greater detail. I noticed they have a good team of supporters of the idea.

      This is so important. The guy who wrote about fleeing the crazy cult of today’s GOP (from Desertflower’s WaPo link) made the point that Dems don’t understanding language. What he really means is manipulative language, but the point is still valid. We get long winded and cerebral. What Jill is doing is God’s work.

    Bringing over from the previous thread.

    I stole this from HuffPuff from someone who made a comment about the “Boner” stating “no one wants to elect a loser”. I plan to send this to as many people who claim that PBO is a socialist, marxist, facist, kenyan, hater of whites, americans, liberty, justice, and wants to destroy america.

    A winner:
    President Obama:
    Was born in Hawaii to a mixed race family;
    was raised by a single parent;
    Saw and lived in a foreign culture for a few years;
    Returned to Hawaii while his mother studied and completed a course in anthropology;
    His family was so poor, they lived on food stamps.
    He studied at 2 Universities.
    Majored in Read More… constitutional law;
    Was the top of his class on graduation;
    Turned down million dollar job offers to work with the poor, disposed, dispossessed and disenfranchised, for a pittance;
    Became a constitutional Professor;
    State senator,
    Senator,
    Has a loving highly gifted wife and well adjusted children;
    Has just paid off his first house;
    Has a net worth of 5.6 million dollars;
    Is the first president to pay for renovating the living quarters in the White House out of his own pocket and returned the amount allotted for this to every president, back to the treasury;
    Has tried to govern from the middle, much to the chagrin of the left base;
    Has adopted Republican ideas when he saw value in them only to have the Republicans obstruct even their own ideas;
    He has an outstanding list of accomplishments and successes as President and is too humble to beat his own drum about them;
    Has gone from poverty to President;
    He doesn’t use religion as a wedge issue to divide the nation:
    He turned the economy around from net job losses in the first quarter of 2008 to 25 months of job creation, through his foresight and in spite unparalleled obstruction by those avowed to destroy his presidency, even if it meant destroying the economy and shattering real people’s lives.
    And Mitt, the guy who said corporations are people my friend and the 99% are wrong and dividing the nation.
    The guy who can’t tell we are angry at the haughty and arrogant way that he made his money by bankrupting companies and throwing living breathing workers on the scrap pile mistakes the anger as we envy his wealth.
    Thinks the POTUS is out of touch with real Americans.
    And he doesn’t complain about conspiracy theories that don’t exist.
    Face it Mitt’s a Sketch™ apart from losing when he ran for the senate, was set to lose if he ran again for governor, lost to the guy that lost to Obama, I don’t see a winner in you.
    Obama is the consummate success story and he pulled himself up by his own boot straps.

      April 29, 2012 at 7:34 pm

      I would like to point out that the wealth of the First Family comes primarily from royalties from the President’s books. He didn’t make money by being a hedgefund manager or by “managing capital” and putting people out of work. In other words, he made money the old fashioned way, he earned it. (As a writer myself I have nothing but admiration and a little envy for authors whose books actually make money,)
      Likewise Joe and Jill Biden live on their salaries! No big fat “speaking” or “consulting” fees.
      The President and Vice President have no trouble releasing their tax returns because there’s no funny business there.

When we look back at Bush , McCain and others, they look like out of touch, I’ll-informed old guys who cannot be flexible in their thinking and problem solving. Another promise kept by a man who does not give up, who says what he means and whose word is his bond. So thankful that the majority of the electorate was willing to take a chance on him. He has never lets us down and has exceeded the expectations of reasonable people. PBO is one of a kind.

          Because as GWB said, ” I don’t know where he is…I truly don’t spend that much time on it..” If McGramppy came to GWB with a GPS map to where OBL was to save his bid for president, Bush would have done nothing because the GOP has been using it as a fear tactic that worked for eight years and was not about to let it resolved. Just like the GOP has used aboriton as a wedge issue with no desire to get rid of it…..so the GOP red state governors decided to do it themselves to overturn Roe v Wade when the states are inconsistent and it goes back to the SCOTUS to overturn it.

    PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Reuters) – A U.S. drone strike killed four suspected militants in Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region near the Afghan border on Sunday, intelligence officials and witnesses said, the first strike in almost a month.

    The controversial drone program, a key element in U.S. counter-terrorism efforts, is highly unpopular in Pakistan, where it is considered a violation of sovereignty which causes many civilian casualties.

    A Pakistani parliamentary committee recently demanded an end to drone strikes on Pakistani territory as part of its recommendations for how its relationship with Washington should change. The United States has given no indication it intends to halt the campaign.

    The remotely piloted aircraft targeted an abandoned girls’ high school building used by militants in Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan, the officials and witnesses said. Three militants were wounded.

      Question: Is there are problem with absentee ballots. . .??
      If there is so much push back on voting, wouldn’t it be easier to mail in the ballots?

      • 73 0388jojothecat
        April 29, 2012 at 3:50 pm

        In those “RED” states, I would think it would be easier to throw away mailed in ballots unless you keep a copy that you mailed it early. If I lived in a red state I would vote in person.

      • 74 Alycee (@jazziz2)
        April 29, 2012 at 4:14 pm

        In PA, under new VID law, voters must send copy of ID with ballot request. Additionally, PA has very strict criteria about who can request absentee ballots — must certify that it is impossible to get to polling place on election day.

        • 75 jackiegrumbacher
          April 29, 2012 at 4:59 pm

          On the other hand, a senior aide in the PA state capital said that the R’s are going to push absentee ballots for Republican voters. If you have voted before, it’s not hard to submit an absentee ballot and even the strict requirements can be overcome. If you say you can’t vote in your precinct, it is impossible for someone to prove otherwise–no municipality has the staff to investigate. If you’re a first-time voter who’s not a driver, you still have to go to the DMV, get your non-driver photo ID, then photocopy it and submit with your absentee ballot. PA has never been an easy state to vote in and it’s gotten tougher, but we will not let it defeat us!!!

          By the way, each polling place MUST count the absentee ballots on election night; it’s only the provisional ballots that are dicey and counted at another time. It’s important that poll watchers stay for the count to make sure the absentee ballots are tallied correctly. Even in Red states, Democratic poll watchers are allowed in for the count. Don’t let anyone intimidate you. Get the phone numbers of OFA and Democratic Party legal support with you when you stay in for the count.

    http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2012/04/fcc-political-ad-transparency-broadcaster

    Baby steps…in the right direction:)

    Want to peruse Mitt Romney’s donor list? See who’s on a super-PAC’s payroll? Find out which campaign spends the most on Chinese take-out? All that information and more is a click (or four) away on the internet.

    However, political advertising information—who’s buying ads, where they’re buying them, and how much they’re spending—remains in the pre-computer age. That information is only available on paper forms stuffed inside filing cabinets at the offices of the broadcasters themselves. These files are public information, yet they are nowhere to be found online. Reporters or citizens looking for ad buy information have to call up individual broadcasters or visit TV stations in person.

    No more. The Federal Communications Commission on Friday ruled that TV stations must post online their publicly available political ad information, including who’s buying, what they’re paying, and how much airtime they purchased. TV ads remain the most potent (and pricey) weapon in a campaign’s arsenal, and making ad data readily available online is a game-changer for reporters covering the campaign.

    Rove ad was played on tv, says that This president shipped jobs overseas by giving tax breaks to companies
    A lie!!!

    In his State of the Union this year-

    He said on his annual State of the Union speech on Tuesday evening that “Tonight, my message to business leaders is simple: Ask yourselves what you can do to bring jobs back to your country, and your country will do everything we can to help you succeed”. This is a move that is expected to have an adverse impact on the Philippines’ growing outsourcing industry.

    “It’s time to stop rewarding businesses that ship jobs overseas, and start rewarding companies that create jobs right here in America,” he added.

    Now THIS is interesting!!!!!!!!!!!! Bain Capital getting into the drug rehab business…..Romney still get money from Bain….how does this tie into healthcare that he rails against? More hypocricy?? Color me STUNNED!

    http://money.cnn.com/2012/04/26/news/companies/bain-crc-rehab.fortune/index.htm

    In February 2006, Bain purchased an outfit called CRC Health Group for $723 million and proceeded to go on a shopping spree, snapping up nearly 20 new facilities over the next two years. The company took a breather during the financial crisis, but in 2011 resumed its buying binge with the purchase of some smaller treatment centers.

    Rehab, it turns out, is a pretty good business. CRC’s flagship facility, Sierra Tucson in Arizona, charges upwards of $30,000 for a 30-day stay. And with Hollywood and the sports world providing a seemingly endless supply of customers (Sierra Tucson has treated Michael Douglas, Ringo Starr, and Tiger Woods, among others), there’s growth potential too. But is the addiction-treatment industry one that benefits from scale? Is rehab roll-up-able?
    In the most basic sense, the answer is yes. CRC, which treats some 30,000 patients a day at its 140 facilities, is able to save by sharing equipment like computer software and buying supplies in bulk — typical consolidation stuff. CRC’s total revenue last year climbed to more than $450 million, from $271 million in 2006. And its profit margin of 25% in 2010 is several multiples higher than CRC’s smaller and less-earnings-oriented competitors. (The industry consists of for-profit institutions and nonprofit centers such as New York’s Phoenix House.)

    snip/

    But CRC’s critics contend that the treatment company lately has been sacrificing care for profit. (Romney’s presidential bid has put Bain smack in the middle of a debate over whether private equity firms help build great companies or merely bleed them dry before selling them off.) The family of Dr. Kenneth Litwack, 71, a patient who disappeared from his quarters at Sierra Tucson last August only to be found dead two weeks later behind the facility’s horse stables, has launched a wrongful-death suit against CRC and Sierra Tucson. “Well-regarded hospitals with talented and dedicated staff are squeezed by the new CRC ownership, who focus on revenue over care,” says Dev Sethi, a lawyer representing the Litwack family.

    http://gothamist.com/2011/12/19/13_years_after_quitting_romney_stil.php

    Per the 1999 agreement, Romney receives a share of profits enjoyed by all of Bain’s partners through 2009 on four global buyout funds as well as 18 other funds. Because the impact of some of the deals is still playing out, Romney continues to see profits of millions of dollars each year. An exact amount is unavailable because the candidate refuses to release his tax returns. But a partner and general counsel at a company that raises money for private equity firms like Bain, said that Romney’s agreement “would probably be on the extravagant side.”

    So that hack Ed Henry thought our President’s WHCD speech last night was “terrific.” Someone had posted earlier that they thought he looked as though he was trying hard not to laugh. So perhaps they were right – he did enjoy the speech based on what he tweeted here. Interesting.

    Where is Snark Knoller? Brother Mark need a slap or two. Now he’s whining about tonight’s fundraisers.

      Not at all surprising! And the WHCD venue last night was mobbed – even more than last year, which in turn was more crowded than previous years. Both CNN and MSNBC anchors last night asked whether the President has something to do with this recent interest in the WHCD and the guest commentators responded yes, PBO has influenced the event and is partly responsible for the increase in attendance by Hollywood, and interest from the public and MSM.

        vitaminlover, I wish POTUS could take afew days away with FLOTUS and the girls, before we really get into campaign season. I was reading were some one from the right wanted to know what FLOTUS trip to Spain cost in 2010. I get so dam tired of these stupid ass people trying to pull this crap. I want to know how much it cost the tax payers for the trips Laura Bush took over the eight years, and yes she and her daughters and friends went on vacations. This President and First Lady go across the street and these right wing racists idiots are talking about what did it cost.

    Hello everyone. thank you Chips. I am so enjoying catching up from last night. I truly enjoyed every minute. FLOTUS sure did wear that dress! My goodness, the colors were just alive. She really looked beautiful. POB out did himself…again. Jimmy Kimmel should take notes from our POB.

    VC: thank you for the shout out to THEO67. We must hook up.
    Chips, you would have to play another one of my favorite videos…..Let’s Stay Together! And then @Linda you post the WHOLE thing. I am done for this weekend. Snacking on some sweet potato fries and I am in heaven.
    I just had a thought. Wouldn’t it be great if POB and FLOTUS danced to that song at the Inauguration? It would take a week to revive me!

    Okay. I am crying already. I don’t know if I could take all of that love at one time……

      Thank You. I thought sixty minutes would have a story on the capture of BIn laden, but they just wasted 20 minutes w/ a guy from the bush/ cheney torture program. I guess they wanted to recount Bush’s failures or something. Heh, muddying the waters as to whether torture was effective or not, is more like it. They will never get over the fact that Obama got Osama.

    Why You Should Be Optimistic About the Future

    Currently, thanks to the incredible, exponential rate of growth of technology, combined with three powerful emerging forces, we are teetering on the edge of a much, much better tomorrow. Imagine a world where everyone has access to clean water, nutritious food, affordable housing, personalized education, top-tier medical care, non-polluting and ubiquitous energy. Imagine a world of abundance.

    Sound too good to be true?

    Already, elements of this transformation are underway. Over the past 20 years, wireless technologies and the internet have become ubiquitous, affordable, and available to almost everyone.

    snip/

    Perhaps the most significant change of the next decade will be the dramatic increase in worldwide connectivity via the internet. The online community is projected to grow from 2 billion users in 2010 to 5 billion by 2020. Three billion new minds are about to join the global brain. What will they dream? What will they discover? What will they desire? These are minds that the rest of society has never had access to before and their collective economic and creative boost becomes our final force: the power of “the rising billion.”

    Where have we heard the importance of internet access to everyone ??? Oh, that’s right. OUR PRESIDENT!!
