    THIS IS THE LATEST IN A SERIES OF “MITT ROMNEY vs REALITY” ADS

    This ad is beyond brilliant. In a very funny and powerful way it exposes Mitt Romney’s mendacity. The thread that runs through everything Mitt Romney and the Republicans do or say is DISHONESTY.

    • 39 theo67
      April 29, 2012 at 1:13 pm

      What I love is that if you take the real Romney ads, the voices are the same, with the same “America can’t afford 4 more years of Barack Obama” nonsense, with the same drawn out sneer in the name (including the lack of his title). Now, every time people see those Mitt ads, they’ll be completely neutralized as people link them to this nearly identical ad. And they didn’t even pick ugly pictures of Romney, like the other campaigns always try and do to President Obama. Republicans and Rove think they know how to neutralize their opponents’ strengths, but clearly, they haven’t seen President Obama in action.

          I have a good one, she can ask him what is favorite color is. That should make news. I expect Candy to be joined at the tonsils with Speaker Boehner. She won’t challenge anything he says with facts. Journalism is dead.

    Thanks, Chips for the recaps and the photos. I can now savor the moments without mad blogging.

    While we are all riding high and planning for November AND JANUARY, I just want to remind us of Theo’s message that hanging-out space for those who are coming from far for the Inauguration is going F-A-S-T!

    theo67 April 23, 2012 at 10:45 pm
    If anyone is planning to attend the inauguration in January to witness President Obama being sworn in, heads up – hotels are already selling out. When I called, there were only two hotels in the vicinity with decent prices (i.e. $360/night for double room), and air tickets are already starting to skyrocket. Apartment/condo/townhouse rentals on sites like ā€œHomeAway.comā€ look like they’re filled already with a lot of the usual providers. If you are planning to be there, book at least your hotel now! You can usually cancel up to the day before. A good site which will search all the local hotels with you over the phone is dcluxuryhotels.com – good luck! A couple of us have already booked.
    …//
    Theo to LDS: A few of us are staying at the Donovan Hotel – still close enough to the action. But, if you call the number on dcluxuryhotels.com, they will work with your price range and preferences and give you some options.

    ..// LDS replied later:
    Theo67, if you are still up I did crawl out of bed to book hotel reservations for the Inauguration. I was there 2008 and I will not miss 2013! There were no rooms available at the Donovan, but I am close by at the Normandy. I really don’t care if it’s a tent….(I am not occupying nothing but the voting booth, though. Thank you so much for the heads up. I hope to see you and many more TOD Family there.

    ..//

    If TODville-ites plan to end up close enough so that we can meet, we’ve got to start booking! YES. WE. CAN. AGAIN. BECAUSE WE. MUST!! šŸ˜† :lol;

      How long before the MSM and the GOP complain about the “TONE” of the political discourse. That’s what they always complain about when President Obama and the Democrats call them out with a bit of TRUTH. The Republicans can dish it but they can’t take it. Most of all, they can’t take it when they are exposed with the facts. And the MSM carry water for the GOP just hates it when PBO makes the GOP look bad by simply stating the facts.

              Left-Indie shows up mostly to stir the pot and seems to get a thrill from determinedly pushing his/her always contrarian view of all things President Obama…

              His/her specialty of course is a rabid defense of critics of President Obama…

              He/she always seems to think the President’s critics are the only ones entitled to unchecked attacks on President Obama, and any push-back even with facts, ‘stifles’ dialogue…

              Frankly, like so many here, I’m not buying what Left-Indie continues to push…and I will even go out on a limb to say that Left-Indie’s mission here is not to help rally for President Obama or fervently support the prime purpose of our gathering here: to ensure the re-election of President Obama…

              As the election drives into high gear, we must guard against those who will under various guises, infiltrate the few dedicated pro-President Obama sites like this seeking to contaminate, demoralize and to simply wreak havoc by throwing us off focus…

    Joel Osteen: ā€˜The Scripture Says That Being Gay Is A Sin’ |

    Mega church leader Joel Osteen reiterated his belief that ā€œthe scripture says that being gay is a sin,ā€ telling Fox News’ Chris Wallace Monday morning, ā€œmy faith is based on what I believe the scripture says and that’s the way I read the scripture.ā€ Asked if gay people are entitled to equal rights, Osteen insisted ā€œI don’t think we should discriminate against anybodyā€ before adding, ā€œI am not for gay marriage.ā€

        Actually, IN PBO’s PARTY, NOW AND IN THE NEXT 41/2 YEARS, I would welcome ministers with his level of support, particularly in media interviews!! I would welcome 100% support from Dems for PBO BECAUSE they should know the nature of the man by now and know his heart for the American people. The should know that whatever he proposes, has been researched by him AND is intended for the good of the whole. Therefore giving a united face to the media re any PBO decision, while seeking clarification as needed in private, is a strategy that would get my vote right now.

      Bobfr, you know John McCain sure did severely guttered his reputation by picking Sarah Palin as VP candidate. McCain use to be highly respected, from Democrats, not anymore. In his old old old age he has gone to darn far to the right, he seem to have become senile, and he is still bitter that Barack Obama defeated him.

        It appears that since Obama’s election, many formerly “reasonable” and well-respected individuals seem to have come down with a severe case of ODS. And if Obama gets re-elected, I expect that a lot more individuals will be afflicted with this disorder.

        That’s why Paul Begala was especially brilliant on Bill Maher this week: it was ALL about Romney’s record as governor.

        Let’s get this straight: he served one term in elected office. He lied through his teeth to get elected, turned on a dime into the draconian Republican he really is and spent most of his term preparing to run for President. The only other time he did anything for the country was when he hired a bunch of lobbyists to get the Federal government to bail out the Olympics.

        Popcorn, please.

    O/T: I feel so badly for the people of England but I gotta say, this is what comes from cutting and gutting and taxing the poor to pay the rich. The fact that Cameron– a likable guy in my estimation– sees how bad the numbers on the economy are in terms of growth and contraction, and also in terms of his party’s poll numbers 29% –lowest since 2004– and he’s still saying he’s doing the right thing–he went onto some show and doubled down on his trickle down/cut-gut and desecrate economic plan. What an ass. Something tells me he won’t be re-elected. This whole thing of hiking tuition on kids and over taxing the lower classes (or middle class, whatever they call it) then giving tax breaks to rich folks was so wrong and i think it’s really sad. The bad thing is that because the Lib/Dems are part of the coalition, their poll numbers have sunk to 11%. I don’t know why it’s lower than the Tory’s seeing as their voices are louder in the coalition. Sucks to be them. Thank God for PBO. You can’t cut a country’s way out of recession. It’s different from a business. You own a business and you’re in debt, you fire some staff, others take pay cuts, get rid of some programs that aren’t essential,etc. and you may be able, over time to balance your books. Not so for a country. A country isn’t a business. There are so many complicated factors associate with the economy, job growth, production, etc. Cutting and gutting is irresponsible when it comes to growing a country’s economy and getting out of debt. These repugs/Tories never learn. Always so stubborn and foolish.

          That reminds me of President Obama at last year’s White House Corresponddents’ Dinner, when he mentioned Paul Ryan’s budget. Ryan wasn’t there, he said, but that didn’t matter because his budget was nothing to laugh about. Groans and applause.

      this is what my directed study is about. the gender and family gap in pay for women. It’s a social psychology topic and I tackled it because even though I’m getting my degree in clinical psych, social psych has always been my passion. Did not know when I chose this topic last August that it would become so big. I’m gonna revise my intro and add all this hoopla and it’s impact and what it means for us. Then in my conclusion and policy implications I’ll talk about what needs to be remedied and how legislatively we can get ahead, beyond Lilly Ledbetter. Holy criminy!

      Everytime we try to talk real issues (i.e. the FACT that women get paid less for the same job men do), they will pull the “Obama is trying to distract you from their failed policies” card. That is getting old and I really don’t think it will work

        I don’t think I could remain married to a man with such vile things to say about another human being who has done him no wrong. I would actually be a little afraid of him if I found out, and she cannot NOT know his position.

    On a lighter note: I thought PBO’s description of his grey hair was funny. Actually, I don’t see anything wrong with him using “Just for Men”. My husband does and if you look at many guys over 50 and that don’t have any grey hair, they’re probably using something. We girls are not alone in coloring our hair. We talk about it. Men don’t.

        I have stated on many previous occasions, that many of the online news outlets probably harbor paid operatives to spew anti-Obama or RW talking points. These do not represent the real individuals…they are generated by the media corp. machine to sow discord and undermine the President.

    Good Sunnday day to all you O’s!!!! Another great gettin’ up day in TODDIE town!!!! I missed the first run of MTP, so I’m gonna catch the rerun that airs on MSNBC in a little while. I read on here that RM and Hillary Rosen did a good job, also want to catch Gibbs. Alex Witt interviews Marc Halprin who says that PBO will be re-elected, can’t see a reason why he wouldn’t be, even if the economy worsens (he who said PBO acted like a d*ck).

    This week, the three military contractors that do the most business with the Pentagon announced their quarterly profits for 2012. Their profits continue to grow while they push Washington, D.C. to protect their budgets at the expense of the rest of us.

    Here’s the breakdown so far for this year:
    •Lockheed Martin: $668 million
    •Northrop Grumman: $506 million
    •Boeing: $923 million

      April 29, 2012 at 2:33 pm

      I stole this from HuffPuff from someone who made a comment about the “Boner” stating “no one wants to elect a loser”. I plan to send this to as many people who claim that PBO is a socialist, marxist, facist, kenyan, hater of whites, americans, liberty, justice, and wants to destroy america.

      A winner:
      President Obama:
      Was born in Hawaii to a mixed race family;
      was raised by a single parent;
      Saw and lived in a foreign culture for a few years;
      Returned to Hawaii while his mother studied and completed a course in anthropology;
      His family was so poor, they lived on food stamps.
      He studied at 2 Universities.
      Majored in Read More… constitutional law;
      Was the top of his class on graduation;
      Turned down million dollar job offers to work with the poor, disposed, dispossessed and disenfranchised, for a pittance;
      Became a constitutional Professor;
      State senator,
      Senator,
      Has a loving highly gifted wife and well adjusted children;
      Has just paid off his first house;
      Has a net worth of 5.6 million dollars;
      Is the first president to pay for renovating the living quarters in the White House out of his own pocket and returned the amount allotted for this to every president, back to the treasury;
      Has tried to govern from the middle, much to the chagrin of the left base;
      Has adopted Republican ideas when he saw value in them only to have the Republicans obstruct even their own ideas;
      He has an outstanding list of accomplishments and successes as President and is too humble to beat his own drum about them;
      Has gone from poverty to President;
      He doesn’t use religion as a wedge issue to divide the nation:
      He turned the economy around from net job losses in the first quarter of 2008 to 25 months of job creation, through his foresight and in spite unparalleled obstruction by those avowed to destroy his presidency, even if it meant destroying the economy and shattering real people’s lives.
      And Mitt, the guy who said corporations are people my friend and the 99% are wrong and dividing the nation.
      The guy who can’t tell we are angry at the haughty and arrogant way that he made his money by bankrupting companies and throwing living breathing workers on the scrap pile mistakes the anger as we envy his wealth.
      Thinks the POTUS is out of touch with real Americans.
      And he doesn’t complain about conspiracy theories that don’t exist.
      Face it Mitt’s a Sketchā„¢ apart from losing when he ran for the senate, was set to lose if he ran again for governor, lost to the guy that lost to Obama, I don’t see a winner in you.
      Obama is the consummate success story and he pulled himself up by his own boot straps.

    PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Reuters) – A U.S. drone strike killed four suspected militants in Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region near the Afghan border on Sunday, intelligence officials and witnesses said, the first strike in almost a month.

    The controversial drone program, a key element in U.S. counter-terrorism efforts, is highly unpopular in Pakistan, where it is considered a violation of sovereignty which causes many civilian casualties.

    A Pakistani parliamentary committee recently demanded an end to drone strikes on Pakistani territory as part of its recommendations for how its relationship with Washington should change. The United States has given no indication it intends to halt the campaign.

    The remotely piloted aircraft targeted an abandoned girls’ high school building used by militants in Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan, the officials and witnesses said. Three militants were wounded.
