Yes that’s nice. I’m so excited about tonight that I hardly got any sleep. My husband told me I’m obsessed with the President and I said, “so, are you jealous?” he just laughed and shake his head. LOL

        • April 28, 2012 at 9:47 am

I hear the same thing around here—-that I’m obsessed with President Obama—–and I respond “guilty as charged” and then add, “Hey, you really look cute today”—–which makes him a little happier and seems to take the edge off the jealousy. 🙂

I tell you it’s the same here. There are many husbands who will breath a sigh of relief come Jan 20, 2017 just cuz they can finally get their wives back after a decade long partial loss. I too am guilty as charged 😆

Beautiful to see such great headlines in South Carolina! How can people not love our beautiful PBO and FLOTUS. It’s almost as if you have to go against human nature not to see how special they are. The Cagle “core convictions ” cartoon cracked me up and Cory Borker–wow, spot on. What a terrific way to start a Saturday.

Good morning from the west coast, everyone!

Cory Booker needs to kick Chris Christie out of the Governor’s office. Free him up for his 2016 already doomed run for President (if he feels he’s ready by then).

Fine, Pamela, though I’m trying to keep my eyes open. Can’t understand why I feel so sleepy this morning. What’s cooking in your corner? Are you off today, or just getting ready to go?

Finishing my tea, covering DD4O while she registers voters, out to clean the birdbaths, then HiHo HiHo, off to work I go! But next Friday and Saturday, OFF for Two in a Row! Then I shall sleep! (maybe…) 🙂 🙂 🙂

            April 28, 2012 at 10:10 am

Sounds good to me. Next time you throw a cover DD4O’s way, would you add a little corner of it with me in mind? Though I understand perfectly why ‘furriners’ should not be allowed to mess the pot financially, in only the PBO case, 😉 I find it frustrating. However, I KNOW PBO will be successful without all the KOCH-type helpers fawning over the other guy. As for next week-end’s time off, from the little I know of you, i can just see you FINDING things to do. As well, I feel sure I can count on Pres O being too active for YOU to sleep in! 😆 Nevertheless, during this week do enjoy the anticipation of ‘Two in a Row’!

Hey, of course I will, with you in mind, I mean! (VC, are you saying you ‘need’ some cool stuff from the Store, cause, if you DO, I AM your girl, you know that, right!.)(no doubt you are right on in me finding too much to do next weekend, by it will be glorious to have the time! And just stay in my trackies for two days, no makeup, no jewelry…bliss!) I’ll be in DC fir Memorial Day weekend, family reunion, but I only have the weekend, and very lengthy list of things to do! It will be massive fun to see the family after 12 years when I made it to the last one!

              • 39 vcprezofan2
                April 28, 2012 at 11:08 am

PAMELA, you have a regular family reunion thingy? Lucky you! 😆 😆 Have a great fun time when MD weekend rolls around! My family has too, too many lethargic people to plan a reunion and follow through. It’s always ‘we should plan a family reunion’, ‘Yeah, we should’, muttered generally at a funeral when you can count on attendance, and when you meet all these cousins etc you’d never seen before. I confess that my side of the family is the worst, so I gave up on trying to coerce my siblings. Thanksgiving alone is a ‘pain’ which I washed my hands of a couple years ago when Offspring got old enough to understand that getting even two other families – who live nearby – together was like pulling teeth. You are so lucky! Of course, I’m not in tears or anything because I enjoy my own company enormously as long as I have something to read, and in the last couple of years TODville has filled the bill quite well! 😉 No, no, I wasn’t sending any message about the Store, just sharing a little jealousy that I couldn’t really participate in the presidency of my MOST FAVOURITEST president. I’m planning to come for the Inauguration, if all goes well, so I’m going to try and buy something AUTHENTIC closer to that time.

Yeah, the East Coast family manage a summer get together and often something around Christmas or New Years, but I can’t get to those so easily! I never imagined you were hinting anything about the Store, VC, but as I told CanuckJoyce, I LOVE to have you so-called furriner types properly decked out with OFA gear, as your enthusiasm adds so much to the effort! We all love and appreciate Obots all over the world, and we wish you all could vote, no guessing for whom! If you change your kind, you WILL let me know, okay? Have a great day! Byeeeeee!

    • April 28, 2012 at 9:57 am

More truth there than what is going on in our illustrious news media on the subject. All are seemingly taking the Rove ad as a cue and as the gospel truth and are seriously attempting to advance the case that Obama is “too cool” for the electorate. Tweety was cooperating and pushing that theme on Weekend Today. This “celebrity” charge was attempted in ’08, to no avail, but they’re giving it another go.

      • 45 anniebella
        April 28, 2012 at 12:35 pm

What’s wrong with being “cool”? President Obama also has a caring heart. When he graduated from college he could have done what Mitt “the liar” Romney did. Barack Obama could have focus only on making money, but he became a community organizer, he went to try to help people who needed help.

          April 28, 2012 at 3:12 pm

One of the stories that came out after the election that showed PBO has a kind heart was the story of how this young man standing behind a woman in line at the airport helped her out. She was flying to join her husband who had gone ahead, I believe he might have been in the service but do not remember that part for sure. She did not have enough money to cover her overweight baggage fee and the young man behind her loaned her $100 to cover the charge. She lives in Europe today and when she saw the information about the newly elected President she went into her box for mementoes and dug out this man’s Chicago address and name and saw it fit the newly elected US President. The hometown newspaper printed her story and the paper with our Presidents’ written info on it. I always thought that act showed his kind heart and was glad the story came out.

    Happy Saturday Everybody!

I got the email about the new post and althought I wasn’t planning to come hang out with my TOD family this morning. Tons of errands before going off to celebrte a friends birthday this evening. However, I was compelled to come in and comment about that awesome quote from Cory Booker. The Mayor has encapsulated something so powerful and profound – something so many people “of faith” often forget. I’ll be saying “Amen, amen, and amen” to this until my time is done… and I’ll forward a link to this quote TODAY. Thanks Tien! Thanks Chips!

Listening to the 2011 WHCD, I cannot do it without thinking that all the while PBO was looking normal and cracking jokes, he had simultaneously put his very Presidency on the line with the raid to find OBL he had ordered already at a point of no return!

with so much on the line that night, how did President Obama manage to keep a straight face when OBL’s name was mentioned in the comedy routine? PBO is really mister cool!

Loved the comments from the kids who got to meet Michelle in Naples——“never forget this day”—-“so excited I felt like screaming”—-“was so nervous and then she hugged me and all the butterflies went away”—-“can’t wait to tell my mom”. Contrast with the nasty comments on the website by the nasty adults—–and once again I am reminded of the South Pacific song—–“They’ve got to be carefully taught…..”

I live in Naples and I can tell you that, surprisingly, the local media TV stations coverage of FLOTUS’ visit was mostly positive. The NBC affiliate did live coverage of all the events and a recap on the 11:00 news interviewing the children who met her at the airport. The local newspaper (Naples Daily News) however, had to close the comment sections on all the stories throughout the day. OBS (Obama Derangement Syndrome) is of epidemic proportions in this town. Lots and lots of 1% live here and really don’t have much to do all day. You know, sitting around counting their $$$$$! But we do have a very active Democratic party and just opened OofA office here last week. We are focusing on the hispanic vote and registration. So great to have FLOTUS in town. Busy working, so I was unable to get a personal glimpse. If POTUS ever comes, you can bet I will take the day off!

Good Morning TOD family. I am out the door to register voters this morning. I have to be at work by 1:00 so I may not be able to turn in more than 10 or so. Just wanted to say that, more and more I am seeing “Obama 2012” bumper stickers on cars in my county of “Palm Beach” Florida. I have yet to see any for Romney or any other candidate. I hope to be home in time to see the correspondence dinner.

In the past week, I have gotten a promotion, a huge raise, free Pharmacy Tech Training, a job offer to temp in a dental office when ever I am available. Am I better off now than three years ago? You bet I am and so is my whole family. College for two with help from Scholarships, Stafford Loans and both have JOBS!

Peace and Love to all. I will be back on later tonight. I will post how the voter registrations are going.

Melissa Harris Perry has officially lost her mind. She just said on her show that we should all retire the slogan: “War On Women.” She basically inferred that there is no GOP war on women. She is treating anti-women bills and laws as a cutesy byline on her show. She shamed a lot of women this morning. She’s getting a lot of push back from women and men on twitter who are horrified that someone so educated with such a grand platform would peddle such disgusting rhetoric.

    • April 28, 2012 at 11:12 am

She will only stop when the rating is low. But we are still watching, so there will not be any difference! I stopped watching her show shortly after she began. She has changed a lot. Cannot stand the obsession with the right when they are doing so much evil in the US.

The only time I hear Melissa H. Perry is when she is on Rev. Al show, other than that I refuse to watch her show. I rater watch cartoons or sports center, or no tv at all, anything other than MHP. And just because she said that the use of the words “War on Women” should be stop. It doesn’t mean anyone have to listen to her, who is she?

          • April 28, 2012 at 12:39 pm

i suspect the network bosses have different criteria for daytime shows than they do for the nightly MSNBC line-up. MHP seems to be much more open and “liberal” when she guests and/or hosts on evening shows.

I watched her first few shows and quit after that. It was pretty obvious she was gonna play msm hack pretty early on. I haven’t watched her since. Getting outraged won’t change anything. Turn her off and quit giving her attention on Twitter. We’re actually making her relevant.

Yickes…what’s wrong with her? Nice to know she’s getting a lot of push back.

So it’s ok for the RWers to use the word ”WAR” for everything but not for the Democrats?

I thought what a small person to single out the First Lady for seeing this movie, that many people were curious about.. to write about her on Twitter and else where over a movie, I found it catty and unhelpful.

I think she like Maddow and others ‘play’ at being Democrats.. I’m more inclined to believe they’re likely libertarians or even non-party altogether. Thus its no skin off their noses to pump up the Ron Pauls and Buddy Roemers or talk about Gingrich or Romney with enthusiasm on some level. I really believe they consider themselves untouched by who’s in political power- that they’re above it all- the pundits.. they also appear to believe that they can change the narrative w/ their shows/chatter.. and again since they’ve got no real skin in the game.. why should they care?

Its no secret that I detest pundits, they lie, game and BS for a living.. how are they able to seperate how they make their living from how they vote, or the ideas they push on teevee? they’re not. Do we really believe that Rachel Maddow, Melissa H Perry and Chris Matthews want to pay more taxes? Do we know how they feel about anything for real? Matthews apparently changes his ‘thoughts’ and perspective from one show to the next.. MHP was/ is? a Professor who gave it up to put her face on teevee- fame & fortune are HUGE draws.. Rachel Maddow seems to feel strongly about rights for gays, and even about war.. but she too has sat in front of that camera and told bald face lies.. These aren’t people who want the story, or the politician or even the President to overshadow THEM. Pundits are all about their notoriety.. in my opinion. And I don’t for a sec believe that MHP doesn’t choose her words.. she’s there to get PAID, to make a name. Does she honestly care about women’s rights.. are HER rights in jeopardy? Or she living quite comfortably w/ her wealth, with her style of life. As I said, they don’t have skin in the game. Think Olbermann who doesn’t even vote.

        • 123 relellit
          April 28, 2012 at 12:17 pm

But, what these pundits are not taking into account is their pushing the right wing agenda in dubious terms could possibly backfire. They say things under the guise of liberalism now. However, should the right wing take the White House (which I don’t they will so easily) these pundits wealth and possibly there jobs could go too. Unless, of course their positions will remain to encourage hope and change on TV as tokens of the MSM.

Should that happen, again I don’t think it will because I have more faith in the American people, it should put these pseudo pundits in quite a conundrum and might teach them that they are not as smart as they think they are.

I think if a repub won the WH, Rachel, Chris, MHP, et al would be just fine. In fact they’d probably prosper even more.. they’d attack all things republican, rile up the masses- and frankly probably enjoy their jobs even more than now. But lets not forget, that when Bush was POTUS- all the pundits sat on their hands and zipped their lips for the most part, helping him push his war agenda. These folks aren’t on a team imo. Maybe I see them short, but I honestly don’t think so, I think they are that cynical, that cutthroat. Maybe they’d lose something under a repub administration, but I actually think they’d all just move further right- to vie/ compete with the love of repubs life: Fox.

I’m hoping the authors get to appear on the political shows to promote and discuss their book. Maybe some of these so-called journalists will get a clue. Certainly Bill Maher and his show can go off the rails, but it was out of the park last night. He had some libertarian on at the beginning (fast forward through that), but Paul Begala was kickass brilliant. I didn’t know he had it in him to be that smooth with not only ideologically smackdowns, woven skillfully with Romney’s record as governor. With humor, not just a flood of facts, but well-stated so the image would stick. Maher likes this S. C. Kupp as a guest, a Republican twit with an annoying voice that everyone shut up. It was a great show last night. Paul Begala was EXACTLY the kind of surrogate I want to see (and I’m not always his biggest fan but he was brilliant last night).

    • April 28, 2012 at 11:56 am

Begala is an unpaid adviser for Priorities USA!

Begala…unpaid adviser for Priorities USA is great news, Jovie. His humor is wickedly funny and he’s so fast on his feet. I agree with 57, if anyone gets a chance to watch Bill Maher’s show last night it is well worth it. Funny thing is I almost didn’t watch it as I’d just about reached the conclusion that it wasn’t worth the cirrus.

I see who he has on and decide accordingly. My husband screens the ones I walk away from and lets me know if I should watch. The ease and effectiveness of Begala last night was trrrific.

    • April 28, 2012 at 1:25 pm

I have to make a comment about Bill Maher last night. Paul Begala was really great. He shut S.E. Cupp down, thank God. She talks such nonsense. When Paul Reikoff (sp?) came out, I was very disappointed because he was talking about hot the military wasn’t being taken care of and NOBODY talked about all the President and Michelle and Jill Biden are doing for them. He talked about the high unemployment rate, not speaking to the fact that its gone down dramatically because of the First Lady’s and Jill Biden’s push for companies to hire vets and their families. He said nothing of all the good the President has done for the military. Just watching the President and First Lady in GA yesterday made me so proud and there was nothing said about anything they’ve done.

    http://thinkprogress.org/security/2012/04/27/472901/romney-veterans-no-plan/

On Veterans Day last year, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee did float a plan to privatize the veterans health care system but he was forced to back away from the proposal after swift condemnation from veterans groups.
Romney has also said he supports Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) budget proposal. That budget “would cut $11 billion from veterans spending.”
ThinkProgress asked the Romney campaign if the former Massachusetts governor has a detailed plan to address veterans issues but it did not respond before this post was published.
On the substance, it doesn’t seem like the Romney campaign has been paying much attention to what the Obama has been doing. CAP’s Lawrence Korb and Alex Rothman noted in February that “President Obama has made much progress in tackling veteran unemployment” while urging Congress to pass the president’s $6 billion vets jobs corps program. Last month, Obama announced a housing plan to help military vets who were victims of illegal foreclosures and First Lady Michelle Obama said earlier this month that companies had pledged 15,000 jobs for military spouses as part of the administration’s “Joining Forces” program.

Didn’t someone post yesterday that PBO won an honor (TWICE) because of the tremendous job he and his Administration have done on veterans issues…especially ending veteran homelessness? This is a classic case of Republicans using the military as a prop. They NEVER do anything to help veterans and their families. EVER!

Another take on why this piece was so important!

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/lets-just-say-it-the-republicans-are-the-problem/2012/04/27/gIQAxCVUlT_print.html

    From PM Carpenter:

In “Let’s just say it: The Republicans are the problem,” the Brookings Institution’s Thomas Mann and the American Enterprise Institute’s Norman Ornstein let loose with a righteous fury that refreshes, mostly because their opening proposition–that Republicans are incontrovertibly “the problem”–ends with an admonitory and almost equally thematic swipe at the problem-children of mainstream journalism. “[A] balanced treatment of an unbalanced phenomenon distorts reality,” write Mann and Ornstein, hence journalism’s “even-handed, unfiltered presentation of opposing views” only invites more destructive distortion.

    Wrap your head around that.

Romney Attacks Stimulus At College That Took Stimulus Funds

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney campaigned with Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R), who presides over one of the least job-creating states in America, today at Otterbein College — a school that benefited from the passage of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, commonly known as the stimulus.

Otterbein received a grant worth more than $80,000 for a federal work-study program in July 2009. Ignoring that fact, though, Romney proceeded to attack the stimulus in his speech to students:

US officials: Core al Qaeda ‘essentially gone’

// AP) WASHINGTON – A year after the Navy SEAL raid that killed Osama bin Laden, the al Qaeda that carried out the Sept. 11 attacks is essentially gone but its affiliates remain a threat to America, U.S. intelligence officials say.

Core al Qaeda’s new leader, Ayman al-Zawahri, still aspires to attack the U.S., but his Pakistan-based group is scrambling to survive, under fire from CIA drone strikes and laying low for fear of another U.S. raid. That has lessened the threat of another complex attack like a nuclear dirty bomb or a biological weapon, intelligence officials say. //

I love academic exercises. I really do. But we can get enthralled in a phrase of Shakespeare and not do justice to the substance and effect of the entire play. MHP takes no responsibility for the effect of her silence when lies are given the same respect as truth. I’m not saying she needs to cheerlead for our team (although I’m sick and tired that tv is almost devoid of some healthy cherrleading for our President) but nonsense is nonsense and is not deserving of respect. Is this what passes for liberal arts education these dsys? Is judgment and critical thinking out of thee equation?

    Excerpts from WHCD:

“Yes. The secret’s out–thanks Joe. I do have a big stick.”

“Unlike some people, my wife doesn’t make me wear her jeans.”

“Yesterday I was reading the papers and saw Mitt Romeny’s face on one of the pages. I put it down on the floor so Bo could get a better look and asked him what he thought of Willard. Bo gazed at it, walked in circles around the paper, stood still, nodded his head, sat down on the paper as if in great concentration, then he got up and left his remarks on Willard’s face. The WH butlers cleaned up the mess so unfortunately, there’s no room for Willard’s rebuttal.”

“Am I intimated by the awesomeness that is the Mitt Romney campaign? One word: NO.”

“A liar, a two-faced ingrate and core-less hack walk into a building. The security guard says: Hey Mitt.”

“Who’s a venal liar, too rich for his own good and will never be president of these United States?”

Bo Obama should be charged with the unlawful use of tax payers dollars. Have you seen Bo? Laying around all day, traveling inside of The Beast (as opposed to on on top of it)

and flying around on AF1 –rather than strapped onto one of the wings?

Who knows? His ancestry is Portuguese but he may be a Russian spy! He’s a danger to national security and he’s—horror of horrors!!!!—- cool!!!! And the last thing we want is a cool First Dog, known for palling around with other dogs well below the office of the First Dog.

In closing, Bo Obama is hazardous for America!

Hey TOD our team had a great day registering voters in Virginia. We got 4 NEW VA VOTERS and three were Obama supporters and one Ron Paul supporter who said if Paul doesn’t make it he’ll vote Obama. So needless to say we’ve got his vote as well. One young guy had moved to Va just two months ago from Texas and was glad to have us there to get him registered. There were so many of us volunteers in a small area of Va that we left and drove about a mile to the Pentagon Mall and had much better success. One young lady told us she was already registered and but thanked us for better out there doing what we were doing because she said it was so important that we reelect President Obama this year. That comment alone made standing out in the cold today well worth it.

I got to meet our Collegekay at the DNC before we left for Va and she is too cute. She is an inspiration to her generation. I’m so glad she is out there leading the way for our side. Senator Mark Warner rallied the volunteers at the Va OFA office and that fine Michael Blake (Deputy Operation Vote Director) got us Fired Up and Ready to go with, “In 2008 we changed the guard but in 2012 we guard the change”.

HF2, in that picture you posted upthread of us at the Virginia HDQ Kayla got a shot of my head in that picture. 🙂

Well today I joined the Harrisburg, PA segment of the national ‘ war on women march’ and it was great, even though the weather was cold and blustery. Every speech, every sign was about VOTING to get Republicans out of the state house and the Congress. Everybody was on point with that one central message and there were tons of Obama buttons. A state democratic senator excoriated Romney for telling a young woman that the poor could just shop around for health care once Republicans succeed in defunding Planned Parenthood. The anti-Romney boos were deafening as they were anytime Boehner’s name was mentioned. Gov Corbett is not going to live down his ‘Close Your Eyes’ statement any time soon and it’s going to haunt him into 2014, I’m happy to say. One of the speakers said that women actually make up 54 percent of the potential electorate and if they all come out and vote in a united effort, they can’t be stopped. I like the fact that people weren’t just expressing rage and anger, they were focusing on what needs to happen in November and when asked if they were fired up, the response was a huge YES. Women are royally outraged by the demeaning, ugly, intrusion legislation that’s being passed in this country and as the list of laws was read off from state to state, it all looked like a deliberate onslaught against our rights as full human beings. The 31 male R’s who voted no to the Violence Against Women Act were booed and I hope that act of cowardice lives to haunt them all their days. Our job is to harness this energy–make sure everyone is registered, make sure they focus on the enemy and make sure they get out to vote. As someone said today, we saw what happened in 2010, so NO EXCUSES for not voting in 2012.
