♫ Morning plane to Georgia ♫

Pete Souza

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama leave for a visit to Fort Stewart in Georgia where they will meet troops and the President will sign an Executive Order to help ensure all of America’s service members, veterans, spouses, and other family members have the information they need to make informed educational decisions and are protected from aggressive and deceptive targeting by educational institutions

Exactly. And the President is not a little child like Knoller, so he and his team know all of the restrictions on a military base during an election year. Since the President hasn’t done anything improper for the last three years of his administration, I don’t think he’s going to start now.

Knoller, as I said yesterday, is more of a minor irritant than anything else. But here he is pretending to be a lawyer, which he is not. But then, he has been pretending to be a journalist for years, so this is nothing new.

        April 27, 2012 at 10:16 am

He is more than a minor irritant to me, it’s not only is stupid tweets that get to me, it’s report like this: The one he wrote last year that was quoted by all RW pundits. He carry the GOP water.

CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller whitewashed former President Bush’s role in creating $1.2 trillion in deficit for the 2009 fiscal year, instead blaming President Obama for every penny of debt increase since “the day Mr. Obama took office.” But the Congressional Budget Office had already projected $1.2 trillion in deficit before Obama took office, based entirely on Bush’s actions and economic conditions.

        Lies, that’s all he has

      Congrats on first, LOL!

And, ya know, BWD’s tweet was like reading “the best of times” and Knoller’s was “the worst of times” and you got him, BWD!

When the President arrives at a military base, any of the 365 days of the year, he is the COMMANDER IN CHIEF not a campaigner. PRESIDENT OBAMA’s official portrait is in the common areas on the base, front and center, not Mitt’s, not Mark’s. Because he is their COMMANDER IN CHIEF. Not a campaigner. Not a loser like Knoller. Not a loser like Romney. Nothing to do with any campaign or some so-called sorry-assed reporter who hates his sorry-assed job.

      Well done, BWD!

      Off for more coffee …

You can call it campaigning if you want Mark … the President and First Lady are reaching out to the troops and their families because that is what they have been consistently doing for three years …. he as COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF, she as a First Lady who has actually organized with Dr. Jill Biden a formal platform for helping the military and their families. Besides Mark … get this through your stupid, hate-filled head: he IS the President of the United States!

As I said in the reply to BWD last night. The Rove method is to use your strengths against you. They used intelligence against Gore, and military service against Kerry…so they are trying to use the Prez’s likeability against him. The problem is, THIS AINT YOUR FATHER’S DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
One thing that Axelrod said a while back is that the person who wins the race determines the playing field. So, the Repubs will do everything to get the president to retreat and not talk to the people without the filter of the press. But it ain’t working, so Speaker Orange creates a fauxtreversy about reimbursing the people for the trips to the colleges this week, the RNC files a complaint regarding travel and reimbursement, the moronic press starts asking asinine questions about the Prez ONLY going to battleground states, (Because we all know that visit to Osawatomie put Kansas in play for the Prez/snark).
Its pure Grade A BS—and it aint gonna work.

Madison – A pair of appeals court rulings this week make clear the state’s new voter ID law will remain suspended through the May and June recall elections.

One of the opinions, released Thursday, said there was “no realistic possibility” the case would be decided before the June 5 recall election against Gov. Scott Walker and some of his fellow Republicans.

Walker and Republicans in the Legislature last year approved a new law requiring voters to show photo ID at the polls, but Dane County Circuit Judge David Flanagan issued an order temporarily blocking the requirement in a case brought by the Milwaukee branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the immigrant rights group Voces de la Frontera.

WASHINGTON — Facing political pressure from Republicans and farming groups, the White House has decided to scrap rules proposed last year that would have prevented minors from performing certain agricultural work deemed too dangerous for children.

The Labor Department announced the decision late Thursday, saying it was withdrawing the rules due to concern from the public over how they could affect family farms. “The Obama administration is firmly committed to promoting family farmers and respecting the rural way of life, especially the role that parents and other family members play in passing those traditions down through the generations,” the department said in a statement.

While the move is destined to please the many conservatives and agricultural groups who came out in opposition to the rules, it was quickly criticized by workplace and child safety advocates who say the White House is caving to anti-regulatory politics.

    Why ???

      • April 27, 2012 at 11:07 am

Yeah, much as I hate to say it, this was as close to a cave as I have seen. They had already carved out special niches for family farms. Won’t make me not vote for him or be any less enthusiastic about him, but I am disappointed.

          April 27, 2012 at 11:45 am

Yup. And I didn’t even know they had already carved out some exceptions. The ‘cave’ was probably to rural Conservadems but their voters would be just as happy to vote in a Republican no matter what. Instead of adequately selling the carve-out and staying true to progressive principles, I see no win here. Whether we like it or not, a number of lefty voters are willing to stay home and never see the long term picture. We can’t afford to lose votes. Not this election.

    From the same dkos article:

“For House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., the emphasis was the GOP’s cuts in the preventive health program, whose initiatives she said include breast cancer screening and children’s immunizations. She contrasted that with a Democratic bill extending the low student rates
by cutting subsidies to oil and natural gas companies, which is opposed by the GOP.

Pelosi characterized the Republican view as, “‘We prefer tax subsidies for big oil rather than the health of America’s women.'”

How is this President not at 90% approval? How do these Republicans get half of the country and half of the swing voters to follow them?

I add the word living, because they really don’t even care about the next gereations of the 1% who will also have to deal with a world where the environment is in ruins, the water is undrinkable, etc.

New York-based press operative Danny Kanner is joining the Obama campaign in Chicago as the deputy director of rapid response, working under former DGA spokeswoman Lis Smith in the communications shop, officials said.

Kanner will leave his post as press secretary for New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, and will begin in Chicago a week from Monday.

Kanner is well known to reporters who covered some of the competitive Senate races in 2010 – he worked on Florida Gov. Charlie Crist’s campaign for Senate when he decided to make a go of it as an independent in that race. He also worked as a spokseman for the New York City Dept. of Education under Joel Klein, was the communucations director for Missouri AG Chris Koster.

The move comes as all sides are beefing up their communications staff for the long haul.

MSNBC contributor Meghan McCain called out Fox News host Greta Van Sustern on Thursday for inviting Lindsay Lohan to the White House Correspondents’ dinner.

Van Susteren made headlines earlier this year when she announced that she would boycott the Radio and Television Correspondents Association Dinner because comedian Louis C.K. was headlining the event. She also encouraged her colleagues to do the same. She called C.K. “a pig” who uses “filthy language” to “denigrate women.” C.K. later pulled out as host of the event.

McCain seemed to find Van Susteren’s decision to invite Lohan confusing. “So let me get this straight,” McCain tweeted. “Greta Van Sustern is bringing Lindsay Lohan to the WHC Dinner but has a moral offense to Louie C.K?”

Van Susteren and her husband are somewhat known for inviting big names to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Over the years, their guests have ranged from Ozzy Ozbourne to Kim Kardashian.
