I miss her, too! Once in a while we exchange emails, and I’ve let her know people here were asking about her. She’s so much fun! (Plus, she knows how much I love our Joey, and will occasionally make sure I’ve seen some photo of him or something, about which I have a very profound reaction, always, which I won’t go into, now.)
Wow! So much wonderfulness to come back to after a day and a half at the c-o-l-d Atlantic City beach. Got at look at the Trump monstrosities for the first time ever and, boy, are they a monument to bad taste and massive egotism. In the day time, you can see paint peeling and rust coming down from the outside light fixtures and it all looks so tawdry. What a phenomenal waste of money! UGH! I truly missed you all and realized how tough it is to get away from this site once the addiction sets in. I’m going to be drinking in all the information for the next few days.
What a shame that President Obama said “thanks but no thanks” to Trump’s self-interested offer to build one of his horrible gaudy goldy monstrosities onto the WH, eh? His enormous ego took such a hit, and he’s got the maturity of a 7 yr. old, that he sought revenge with the birther nonsense.
Welcome home, jackiegrumbacher, welcome home! Your descriptive view of the crumbling Trump monument to capitalism speaks volumes to the predictable extinction of the entire GOP and its trumpet-blowers!
Read it. Great post, LL. You gave us a world view, pulled it all together, illustrated a trend and offered a new insight into what’s happening here. Nice!
Paul Ryan must of heard that Ayn Rand was on that socialist social security and medicare all the while she was preachie not to help your fellow man and individual responsibility and by the time she passed away.
We can’t let the Independents, Latinos, Women forget that Mitt Romney said he was a Severely Conservative Republican. Now he said, no one made him say it .Every chance we get we have to remind people of that, because Mitt is trying to Etch -A- Sketch already.
Oh no—-again? I think Hillary has done a super great job as SOS too, but does there have to be a Clinton discussion on every msnbc program, today and every day? And Tweety is a broken record again saying that the Clintons connect with the “regular people”, the hard working people, (the white people) in Pa. “like no other politician can.” Does he ever tire of this tired refrain? I would have thought he would have exhausted himself with this theme during the last presidential election. And I thought Obama convincingly winning Pa. might have put a damper on that tired old (racist) refrain, but —–no such luck—-he’s back at it.
I agree. This is making me not even want to come her to the most positive blog I have ever seen … Hillary and Bill are not behind this: the GOP is trying to use them in any way they can to put our President down. Hillary Clinton is doing a great job as Secretary of State. What’s more, if pictures are indeed worth a thousand words, she and the President seem to have a cordial, no, more than that … a friendly working relationship. The picture of the two of them with arms outstretched towards each other in a conference room in the WH the day the Health Reform Bill passed still hangs on my refrigerator. Bill Clinton (whether you liked his policies or not) has his own thing going right now .. and it is a humanitarian endeavor. The GOP is trying to pit a former President and our current Sec of State against this President. I don’t know why … I guess it is further evidence of their desperation. I know I hate it and I hate this constant picking up the idiotic talking points used by the MSM to get attention and to muddy the waters.
I’d think white people would be tired of hearing how bigoted they’re supposed to be, from the likes of Tweety, etc. Not all white people are just itching to vote for a white candidate, especially when this President has been superlative in the job. Tweety, and the rest of them who always want to lump all white people into that racist bucket, simply reveal their own feelings.
I agree. I’m white, about the same age as Tweety, from the same part of the country, and we’re both Catholics. And yet I agree with him about very little … in fact, I’m more in the category now of not agreeing with him at all.
That Vinnie Politan dork on HLN is going to be doing a segment next, to discuss whether President Obama’s visit to the college hangout, having yogurt spilled on him, and his appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show were part of a “new era of informality for the Commander in Chief.” Of course, I won’t be watching.
Guess he forgot all of the “would you rather have a beer with W” crap of a while back. Or maybe the time W had shoes tossed at him, informally, in Iraq.
Honestly, this is the kind of stuff that they think may be of value to the voting public, as though he’s not a serious President. Ask Osama bin Laden if he’s serious. Ask him.
Sounds like they’re trying to turn Mitt’s stiffness into a strength, by showing how aloof and standoffish he can be. A few months ago, President Obama was being characterized as not being able to relate to people; being a snob. Now, he’s too common, based on the stories we’re hearing. I hope they decide soon, so we can all figure out how we’re supposed to interpret the situation. (*insert sarcastic twist of the mouth here*)
Yep. I tweeted old Vinnie, but that will only suffice to make myself feel better. The media and Republicans are certainly the kings and queens of the smoke and mirrors. Can’t wait until November!
Remember how off base media was throughout 2007? And all the sky is falling throughout 2008. They are no credible: I place more faith in neighborhood teams, community organizing, social media. The more we focus on their trivia and Chicken Little meme of the day the less we get to talk about the many real accomplishments (most of which Chips and other pragmatic liberal blogs post on a daily basis).
This is the same type of crap they pulled when PBO was in Germany in front of that large crowd of 200k. They are trying to make something bad of PBO’s popularity and the spineless MSM play right into this crap. They are sooooo jealous of PBO. The more they bash him, the more we love him.
Exactly. And I think even the guy who gives them their daily talking points – the rotund Frank Luntz – will probably vote to re-elect President Obama this year. It’s all a farce. How they can sleep at night, much less look in the mirror, is beyond me.
LOL! Jacqueline I’m tasking you with penning a limerick about Old Luntz – have it ready for us by Nov 6, 2012 when we’re having our election night party! See, I give you plenty of time! Thanks in advance 🙂 🙂 🙂
I don’t know why, but Humpty Dumpty just came to my mind … haven’t thought of him since my granddaughters were little, until you happened to request a Frank Luntz limerick! Ha!
It’s getting bad. And where is the voice on tv fit Veterans and the Military?
What about that Captain that is always on Morning Jerk?
Give him a Show at 1, and concentrate on Veterans needs and the Military!
Just saying!
The Senate just passed the third reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act. Though Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) were attempting to water down the bill through amendments, they ultimately failed and the bill passed in its original form.
The politicization of domestic violence isn’t over yet, though– the bill now moves onto the House of Representatives, where it’s already been emotionally debated. Republicans have already said that they will try to mirror the watered down language of the Senate amendment that did not pass.
All thirty-one of the “nay” votes were Republican men.
In other words, the House want to take out provisions that protect illegal aliens and Da Gays.
I guess it’s ok, to beat the shit out of those two groups of People??? Meh!
The problem is they thought that when Romney agreed to the decrease in interest rates that they would steal POTUS’ thunder and POTUS went and unleashed a thunder storm that has them still gasping for breath. They know that they cannot send Romney to imitate POTUS in this endeavour. Give them a chance. They will get over it.
You are correct. The MSM/GOP must have known that PBO would get “rockstar” treatment during his college tour, so they spewed stories about the youth not liking PBO and Mitt stealing PBO’s thunder by agreeing to maintain fed student loan interest rates. Both the MSM and GOP have spent over 3 years telling the American people how “unpopular” and “out of touch” PBO is. They react violently when reality interferes with the false meme they are pushing. Those screaming college kids and 2million tube hits of PBO “slow jamming the news” shows that the MSM (including Jon Stewart) have not succeeded in diminishing PBO in the eyes of America’s youth. We should take comfort in the absolute PANIC the MSM/GOP are currently experiencing. Further proof that the MSM is attempting to SHAPE the news instead of REPORTING the news.
I agree Jovie, just MSM attempting to shape reality by creating and promoting outlier polls that enforce their false narrative that PBO is an unpopular president and Mitt is a strong competent candidate. On MSNBC this morning they were hyping a Fox poll that (surprise of surprises) favored Mitt, while ignoring NBC’s own polling that had PBO leading.
Hi
Well done Elle 😉
I’ve added photos of the first lady to that earlier thread – have a look.
Back in a while everyone 😉
That picture of FLOTUS and the young girl, that’s real, Ann Romney would be as phoney as her tin man husband.
Never thought I would be jealous of a young girl.
ha! ha! ha!
Gorgeous. Just wonderful.
We all have a stake in our lives.
Shout out to Hélène with an H from Paris (and OFA) if she’s visiting us at TOD, as I am hoping!
Oui! Moi aussi! Bonjour Helene! 😉
Is she here somewhere? I miss her!!
I miss her, too! Once in a while we exchange emails, and I’ve let her know people here were asking about her. She’s so much fun! Is that why the bully bastard Trumpster became a birther?
Welcome home, jackiegrumbacher, welcome home! Your descriptive view of the crumbling Trump monument to capitalism speaks volumes to the predictable extinction of the entire GOP and its trumpet-blowers!
Oh Pamela, if the decline of those gaudy buildings and the collapse of the GOP could be linked, I’d say they were both running out of time.
that pic is precious – the one above of FLOTUS.
Excellent Chips!
Hey everyone. I have a new post up on TPV: http://www.thepeoplesview.net/2012/04/austerity-and-its-discontents.html. Take a gander if you can.
Read it. Great post, LL. You gave us a world view, pulled it all together, illustrated a trend and offered a new insight into what’s happening here. Nice!
Paul Ryan threw Ayn Rand and the Catholic Bishops under the bus today…..
Both articles at think progress.
http://thinkprogress.org/
I thought only the Dems threw people under the bus.
He’s getting scared.
Paul Ryan must of heard that Ayn Rand was on that socialist social security and medicare all the while she was preachie not to help your fellow man and individual responsibility and by the time she passed away.
I LOVE THAT SPEECH FROM PBO…IT RUMBLES FROM THE DEPTHS OF HIS SOUL…HE FEELS EVERY WORD. AND THAT PHOTO OF FLOTUS IS PRICELESS!!!!!

No I think it’s a Republican/Rovian strategy. Let’s not fall for it.

Rush says, all Hillary is, is a Secretary.
It’s all Hillary Day.
MSNB-Clinton is ridiculous! They truly are the Comcast channel!
The only thing I watch on Msnbc regular is Rev. Al, and Ed, and Martin Bashir. O’Donnell and Rachel sometimes. But that other crap, HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s getting bad. And where is the voice on tv fit Veterans and the Military?

Both of Romney’s short list guys….Rubio and Portman voted NO on this.
Where is my hammer……?
Correction….Portman voted Yes…
Abc asked Michelle if we would see a President Michelle Obama?
She said absolutely Not.
Boooooo!
ABC ? They stole a question from one of the kids that asked her that today ?
ABC=FAIL
That is what I meant, reported by abc!
Jovie, say it ain’t so. 😦
I would love for Michelle to Primary Hilary. I would laugh my ass off!
Good on her
Catch Rev. Al, if you can!
That’s what I mean when I say to not trust some of those polls.
They will say the same thing on November 7…
Hi Folks,
The problem is they thought that when Romney agreed to the decrease in interest rates that they would steal POTUS’ thunder and POTUS went and unleashed a thunder storm that has them still gasping for breath. HuffyFluffly electoral map shows Obama with 298 EV, Mitt 170 EV, with 70 tossup, but the MSM says Mitt is winning independents. Humph!
Over at TPM they have Mitt as a +12 with independents …..What is going on ?
It’s Rasmussen and fox polling more older white people like 2010!
I agree Jovie, just MSM attempting to shape reality by creating and promoting outlier polls that enforce their false narrative that PBO is an unpopular president and Mitt is a strong competent candidate. Linda, read the tweet from Jefferson Obama I posted above. That tells me all I need to know.
Look at the diversity?
Evening all 😉
