In case any one missed this from the last thread –

Wooooooooot! Just heard from Yardarm, he’s still on his trip, here’s his message:

“Regards to the family and let them know I’ll be back on the 23rd with some punishment chairs for you lot that put me on a ghost boat and frozen ship last week. And a special seat for you.”

    😆

Beautiful First Lady on the cover of Ebony magazine May 2012 issue received today. Beautiful!! A must. Also in the literary realm, President Obama’s sister, Auma Obama has a book coming out on the 24th of this month.

Title: And Then Life Happens: A Memoir, by Auma Obama. Ordered today. Read excerpt, and the book looks like a wonderful one to read. Auma is reported (from my readings about her) to be very close to her brother. Dr. Auma Obama. Great read. A beautiful start of the books with something very heartfelt about Sec. Hillary Clinton. Just sharing.HZ

Hey there UT- I am really enjoying ABC’s Scandal. I was not that that impressed with the first show, but my, have I warmed up to it now!
Ms Kerry is just sensuous in the role and, my oh my, she and her Prez are absolutely riveting. Can’t wait for next week. with all the unfolding dramatic twists and turns.

It’s a sign of desperation. All the polls have been favorable for PBO in one form or another so what do they do? They attack. It’s not a new tactic. It’s a Karl Rove failed tactic.

Speaking at a campaign fundraiser in Phoenix Thursday afternoon, Vice President Joe Biden confidently predicted he and President Obama would win re-election in November – including potentially the 11 electoral votes from Arizona – but added “we’re not cocky about this at all.”

“We think we have a real shot at winning the presidential race here in Arizona,” he said to raucous applause at a luncheon inside the Heard Museum.

The Obama-Biden campaign team has tried to buck conventional wisdom that Arizona is a staunchly red state – and “you’re going to see organizers here,” Biden said, according to a print pool reporter on scene.

The president’s re-elect has opened several offices in Arizona hoping to spur a massive grassroots organizing effort over the next three months, focusing particularly on college campuses and Latino communities, officials say.

Two aspects of this: the first is that their is a real shot to pick up AZ.

The second is that this will require Mittens to expend money on a state that was considered in his column. The optics of that would really be bad. And I think the same will happen in GA.

The Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee of the Obama campaign and the DNC, took in $18.7 million in March and spent over $22 million in the same period, according to a report filed with the FEC.

Obama’s campaign had $104 million on hand at the end of March. The Obama campaign and the Obama Victory Fund took in a combined total of $45 million in February.

JAY CARNEY GIVES WENDELL GOLER (FOX) A BIT OF TRUTH ABOUT GSA SPENDING ABUSES.

Today, Wendell Goler of Fox asked a snarky question about the spending abuses of the GSA. He implied it was a bad reflection on VP Biden. Jay was ready for him. His response was a thing of beauty. I could just imagine the jackals squirming in their seats. Oh geez there Jay goes again boring us with a lot of facts.

    ——————————————-

    MR. CARNEY: Wendell.

Q What does the GSA spending abuses say about the Vice President’s effort to crack down on waste in government spending?

MR. CARNEY: Well, I would say two things, Wendell. I appreciate the question. First, with regards to conference spending in particular, which is the matter of concern with the GSA that so outraged the President and led to the actions that have taken place there — first of all, in September of 2011, the President’s Office of Management and Budget directed all agency heads to conduct a thorough review of how they are spending taxpayer dollars on conferences. Pending that review, conference-related activities and expenses were not permitted to go forward without signoff by the deputy secretary or an equivalent chief operating officer for each agency.

Each agency has established tough internal control and has certified those controls are now in place. Federal agencies have identified and are currently executing on plans to achieve traveling conference cost savings that total nearly $1.2 billion as a result of the President’s executive order. To date, they have achieved over $280 million in reduced costs in the first quarter of fiscal year 2012, compared to the same period of time in fiscal year 2010.

Broadly, the administration’s efforts to streamline federal spending on conferences is a part of the President’s broader campaign to cut waste initiative, which is led, as you noted, by the Vice President, and which has already reduced costs by tens of billions of dollars by eliminating inefficient or unnecessary spending. We’ve worked to cut excess real estate costs by $1.5 billion; realized over $1.4 billion in cost reductions by slashing spending in administrative areas such as travel, fleet and printing; avoided $4 billion in costs by turning around, downsizing, or eliminating IT projects that were over budget or behind schedule; saved millions in production costs by halting the minting of dollar coins that are not needed — and I’m sorry if you’re a collector — prevented $20 billion in improper payments, and put an end to skyrocketing contracting costs, exceeding the President’s goal to reduce contract spending by $40 billion.

I’m so glad you asked, because the record is quite impressive.

This Thursday, April 19, 2012, shows the obverse side of a rare 1792 experimental penny on display in Schaumburg, Ill., where is was auctioned off for $1 million on Thursday. Officials with Heritage Auctions say Kevin Lipton of Beverly Hills, Calif., bought the penny on behalf of a group of unnamed investors for $1 million and must also pay the auction house’s 15 percent commission. It was never actually put into circulation and only 14 examples of the coin are known to exist.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush says he’d consider running as vice president with Mitt Romney, but doubts he’ll ever be asked.

Bush tells the conservative website Newsmax that Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is “probably the best” choice to share the ticket with Romney, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee. Bush said he hopes the freshman senator is offered the No. 2 slot and accepts it.

Rubio has said repeatedly that he isn’t interested in leaving the Senate.

Bush said he’d consider running if Romney were to ask him. But the former governor added that he’s not sure running for vice president is the right thing for him and said he’s doubtful he’d even receive the call.

    Wow…. Did he say Yes…or No ?

Now, The RNC is saying that they will have the most effective ground game in history.

Gee, I though that is what Messina said about our ground game.

They really think they can mirror the Presidents campaign?
