I love this picture, because it was the one with the people holding the sign saying “ignore the polls, we love you President Obama” (just out of the shot, but you can see the tips of the picture in the direction the President is looking). I can’t remember what was happening during this time, but I remember that the sign was much needed and probably encouraged the President a lot!

ABC News is reporting that Mr. and Mrs Willard are not attending a competition in the Netherlands which started today where one of her horses, Rafalca, and a rider they sponsor are entered in a horse dancing contest. The report says Willard personally selected the music to which the horse is dancing. So, she does not ride her own horses, and he decides the music. It gets better every day.

Once someone becomes as wealthy as the Willards they can make many choices of what to do with their money. As an example think of a learning center in an inner city that could have been financed with the cost and time involved in sending a horse and rider to Europe for a dance contest. Do we want a couple who prefers something as frivilous as sending a horse to a dance contest in Europe sitting in the White House?

Oh, UTAL, I have no interest in soccer/football, or any other sport, BUT 1-0 is closer to ‘squeaked by’ than it is to ‘crushed’. Just thought I’d clarify.

psst! Don’t worry, CC. Take it from an experienced loser. 😉 You can’t always win. It’s just a game. Maybe next time it’ll be your favoured team’s turn. [Have I covered all the commiserating phrases dished out to those who sometimes (oftentimes) lose?]

I know that my President is a very brave, courageous and outstanding person. No one can do what he does without courage. Speaker Boehner sucks at his job (two weeks on, one week off)

House plans only 109 workdays in 2012

As the party in power, Republicans control the calendar in the House of Representatives. When they took over, GOP leaders set a loose goal of two weeks on, one week off – giving members the chance to spend extended time back in their districts every third week. This calendar reflects that goal. In fact, there are only two weeks in all of 2012 where House members are slated to be in Washington all five weekdays. And there is no month in which they are scheduled to work more than 14 days.

      http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20126778-503544/house-plans-only-109-workdays-in-2012/

IMO Boehner is just reaching for media attention in the tried and true way – say something negative about Pres O. The GOP need lessons on spotting irony, after all they epitomize it minute by minute in their words and actions, and seem not to realize it.

Um so the guy waging all kinds of ‘wars’ against religion, women, moms, guns, frrreeedoms. liberty and all that nonsense also has no courage. My goodness you know some consistency in these snarks would be nice. Not a lot. Just some.

        • 49 vcprezofan2
          April 18, 2012 at 7:04 pm

Cman, if they throw in a little consistency at this stage they might attract 1 or 2 independent ‘conservative’ voters who are just longing for a little bit of rationality – any excuse to vote republican! Right now I’m sure a few of the slightly more rational ones, like you, are looking for a wee bitty sign of sense to justify their leaning right.

They can only wish. It is they who wrongly perceive, they are ones losing their courage, as if they ever had any! PBO has us. We have his back. It’s working. There is much yet to do, hang in there.

    • 52 jackiegrumbacher
      April 18, 2012 at 5:30 pm

The president got what he wanted from the debt ceiling discussion. Other than the middle class tax cut and UE extension PBO was done with the losers in the House. Everything he’s done since then has been largely through the Executive branch. Boehner is a wimp and worthless as a House leader. What’s the point of working with people who could care less about the country? That’s not lack of courage. That’s plain old common sense. PBO didn’t need them anymore and stopped banging his head against that wall.

          April 18, 2012 at 6:52 pm

Again this is an example of the GOP projecting their shortcoming onto PBO. Boner is a historically weak Speaker of the House. He is routinely played out by the tea party set. It is common knowledge that Boner has no control over his caucus and cannot deliver deals he has made with Reid and PBO. Not to mention his constant crying. Give me a break.

‘What’s the point of working with people who could care less about the country?’

JG, it’s more like ‘What’s the point wasting time and money chatting with Congresspeople who COULDN’T CARE ANY LESS about the country?’

You are so right, the President has enough common sense to know when to cut his losses.

OUR outrage in this situation is regarding the potential jeopardy to the President’s safety. What irks me is that the media and the GOP aren’t trying to express outrage because they think the President was endangered. They are simply looking for some mud to stick on the President to make him look bad.

It’s the same thing with these pictures that were released by the LA Times today, which they’ve held onto for two years. I heard them announcing it this morning on NPR, repeating over and over that the LA Times released the pictures because they felt they had a public responsibility to release the pictures in case it reflects a lack of discipline in that troop. That’s a load of nonsense. They’ve had those pictures for TWO YEARS! (And to be honest, I’m not even sure if these pictures are only two years old… maybe they’re even from Bush’s time?) Anyway, they could have released them at any time. They didn’t have to release them when the Afghan talks are extremely fragile, tensions are high and the general election is ramping up – and they need something to tarnish the President’s stellar foreign policy and military record. I’m suspicious. There’s nothing to be gained from releasing these now, except political gain. There’s no public responsibility to releasing these pictures right now, when it puts the safety of the troops in even more fragile state than they already have been put because of other shenanigans. I’m also surprised that people aren’t outraged that the lives of the troops are being put in jeopardy this way. The whole thing stinks.

Did The NRA Pay For Nugent’s Inflammatory Obama Attacks?

According to a 2012 “report of the secretary” memo released to the annual meeting of NRA members detailing payments to board members in excess of $2,000, Nugent was paid $50,000 plus travel expenses for his presentation at the 2011 annual meeting:

I’m definitely in the wrong line of work! How do these idea-challenged people manage to get upwards of $30 000 for a speech (think Newt, Palin, Bush, etc. etc.) and why do others stand around and listen to them? I didn’t notice one soul walk away in the face of Nugent’s vitriol.

  17. 71 theo67
    April 18, 2012 at 5:38 pm

I’m in conspiracy theory mode today, but I’m wondering whether Romney isn’t playing this Nugent thing even “smarter” than we think. He doesn’t want to sully himself by appealing to the crazy gun owners, but he needs them for the election. So, what better than to take a minor hit with some Independents for a bit, and get Nugent to rile up that crowd with hateful speech – especially since we’re hearing that he’s all buddy-buddy with the Secret Service? He gets some credibility with the crazies, and he doesn’t completely lose his more non-crazy followers. It’s not like he didn’t know about Nugent’s ways, his hate speech towards the President and Hillary Clinton, his vile nature. He knew all about it. What better way to reach as broad a group of crazies than to recruit the king of the crazies who give him credibility with the gun people, and since the Democrats and other normal people are outraged by this, it’s a double-win for him. Romney doesn’t care that people think he’s a coward, liar or associated with pedophiles, as long as he wins.

The school buys the fridge so all that stuff is up to them. But this is just such crap. Two in two years. That’s never happened to me before. I mean, my God if he checked his watch, I wouldn’t be surprised. He is bad at voter outreach. He never really did this in Massachusetts, and you can tell. Which is why I am so happy that Barack Obama has rallies and town hall meetings with throngs of people. He really is in tune with people and has a sense of knowing a persons problems. Mitt Romney doesn’t have that and judging by his past campaigns, Mitt Romney CANNOT learn that.

This is why polls and bullshit media punditry be damned, Mitt Romney is not going to get elected President of the United States. I just don’t see it. I saw it a little with John McCain……up until he chose Moosewoman as his VP. I saw it with GW Bush even. He played dumb hick you could relate to really well, rich lifestyle be damned. Reagan possessed it with his acting chops, Clinton possessed it well and when his ego is tempered, still can utilize it. Come on, can any of you name one President in the last thirty years that had that personality as witnessed above? Can you name a President that was either defeated or a presidential challenger defeated that was as compassionate, attentive, and dynamic as Barack Obama? Me neither.

I just don’t see Mitt Romney winning. I’m saying this not as a partisan voter, but as a viewer of sorts. There is no story about him which makes people say, “He’s my choice.” He grew up in a rich, political family. He never lived really on his own without any aid from his parents. He never had to worry about unpaid bills or whether his kids would be able to go to the best schools or whether he would have a job. He never worried about whether or not the next paycheck would be in or whether or not he could feed his family. None of that. The one signature accomplishment from his years as governor of Massachusetts he can’t use because his opponent has already passed an almost carbon copy of it nationally while his own party wants to get rid of it. His only job has been at Bain, where he decimated the lives of many while fattening the pockets of his shareholders as well as himself. There is just no story.

He has no purpose or rallying cry aside from, “You guys hate him, so do I so vote for me.” There is absolutely NOTHING! No one can tell us why he should be President. No damn one. Really, I don’t even think he knows. I don’t want people to think that I am being cocky, complacent or unknowing of the challenges and obstacles set upon us that lie ahead, but just look at that video above and tell me, Why is he their nominee and why would we want him as President of the United States? Because right now, I really don’t see it.

HO-LY SHIT!!!!!! Ok, fuck the polls, newsmedia pundits, everyone etc. Look at Mitt. This reminds me of the debate between Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and H. Ross Perot.

Obama To GOP: Abide By Debt Limit Deal Or Else Face A Govt Shutdown Right Before The Election

//…House Republicans pledged to cut more out of discretionary spending programs in the next fiscal year than they agreed to last summer. Facing a rebellion from House conservatives, budget committee chairman Paul Ryan and party leaders cut deeper, setting a ceiling for discretionary spending that’s $19 billion below the cap in the debt limit deal, and cuts domestic spending even further to finance greater-than-agreed-to funding for the Defense Department.

//…The development sets up a confrontation between GOP leaders and their right-leaning rank and file members, who will rebel if Republicans blink and adhere to the debt limit caps. It could also force the GOP’s presidential nominee to choose between supporting his party’s conservatives, and abandoning them, fracturing his coalition.

who cares right now? why are people prognosticating about things that are 7 months away? They should be reporting the truth rather than wasting our time with this crap. Report what a stinking liar and amoral asshole Willard is, report on the outrageous mendacity of the reptard party, report on how repugs are big old hypocrites who worship the rich and sacrifice the poor. Flapping their fool gums about whether or not the election will be a “squeaker or a landslide” is pure absolute bullshit. Dumbasses.

Photograph 12 from top captured the flag of Ohio forming a halo around the head of President Obama. I bet the right-wingers will not like it one bit!
