President Obama’s re-election campaign is stepping up efforts to mobilize Latino voters – a key Democratic voting bloc – launching it’s first Spanish-language TV and radio ads of the 2012 election and a new grassroots organizing group “Latinos for Obama.”

The ads, which will air in the battleground states of Nevada, Colorado and Florida, present positive looks at Obama’s record on economic and education policies that Democrats say have benefited Latino communities.

The spots feature personal testimonials from Latino supporters of Obama, talking about why they are organizing for his re-election.

The campaign says “Latinos for Obama” is the “largest-ever national effort to communicate to Latino voters and organize and mobilize the Latino vote.”

“Mitt Romney and Nu Skin have been the topic of several Mother Jones articles in the last while. In the May/June 2012 publication, you’ll find a multi-page report that is incredibly revealing.

If you haven’t read the articles below, you should take a moment and do so. The first article is powerful as it explains the connection between Nu Skin and Romney that was created around the SLC Olympics. The second article discusses the supplements that Nu Skin/Pharmanex provided the athletes. Actual athletes told me personally they were instructed NOT to use the products because of possible contamination that could disqualify them. SLOC President, Mitt Romney, stated that he had no qualms with Nu Skin or their product’s quality. All that remained was the Olympic rings associated with a deceptive business model with success rates that rivaled Olympic gold medalists chances of winning.”

    Ted Nugent on Glenn Beck’s radio show today;
    ________________________

“The bottom line is I’ve never threatened anybody’s life in my life. I don’t threaten, I don’t waste breath threatening,” said Nugent. “I just conduct myself as a dedicated ‘We the people’ activist because I’ve saluted too many flag draped coffins to not appreciate where the freedom comes from.”

Beck and Nugent spent much of the segment, however, discussing how Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) was an “America-hating” “maniac.”

    “She’s a Che Guevara fan,” said Nugent. “She’s a Mao Tse-Tung wannabe.”

Nugent was asked to explain the comments that he made at a National Rifle Association convention where he said that he believed voters should “chop [Democrats] heads off in November.”

“Well, that’s the season of harvest,” Nugent said wryly. “Every reference I made, whether it’s ‘a shot across the bow’ or ‘targeting the enemy,’ it always ended the sentence with ‘in November.’”

He might be dangerous in that some nutcase will hear him and be inspired to do some violence. But he himself is a coward!!! Too cowardly to fight during the Viet Nam war. He is a big blowhard–How dare he even say, ““I just conduct myself as a dedicated ‘We the people’ activist because I’ve saluted too many flag draped coffins to not appreciate where the freedom comes from.”
He is despicable! Where and why would he salute any flag draped co0ffin seeing that he was too big a chicken shit to even serve. People like this asshole burn me up! They can talk the BS, but when the bullits were flying they were no where to be seen. C-O-W-A-R-D!
Frankly, I hope he sticks to his promise to be dead or in prison by this time next year–I’d prefer the former, but I can live with the latter. Good riddance.

The Importance of the Violence Against Women Act

I watched the presentation on VAWA at the White House. It was very moving and informative. There was an excellent panel hosted by Paula Zahn. Valarie Jarrett spoke along with other administration officials, law enforcement and support groups. Attorney General Eric Holder’s remarks were wonderful. And Vice President Biden’s passionate remarks had me a bit teary at the end. He said the people helping the victims of violence are doing God’s work. He said he didn’t understand why there is any question about re-authorization of the VAWA. He said exactly “What Are We Arguing About”?. He said what message would it send (after being law for 17 years and helping so many people) if VAWA was not re-authorized.

    WOMEN & EQUAL PAY DAY

    Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (4/17/12)

    ————————

Today is Equal Pay Day–the day marking how far into the year a woman must work, on average, to earn as much as a man earned the previous year. This gap costs women and their families $10,784 every year (median)–as CAP documents, that money could go a long way in these hard economic times:

Romney: I Would Fire Secret Service Agents Involved In Scandal

Mitt Romney says he would fire the Secret Service agents involved in the prostitution scandal in Colombia, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Every time you see a picture of PBO walking with someone in the military, he is talking with them and they always have a smile on their face. I don’t think I ever saw a similar picture of Bush or Clinton. Of course, they may not have stooped so low as to actually talk to “those people.”

    • 62 sherijr
      April 18, 2012 at 2:03 pm

In 30 years, since I was in the army… I’ve never seen a POTUS SHOW his love for the people in the military the way that President Obama does.. and I think I’ve been fairly ‘intune’ to that aspect of our Presidents. They alllll talk a good tale on their love / respect for military.. but POTUS & FLOTUS actually give that love and respect in multiple concrete ways. If I didn’t already stand by him for everything else he’s done/ doing… that alone would do it for me.

      • April 18, 2012 at 2:15 pm

Yes. In a way, this is like icing on the cake. Not just his obviously sincere caring for the people in the military (as opposed to the military itself) but also the familes. And FLOTUS and her compassion for what these folks go throuigh. But what, I think< is really the topper, is how the people in the military, incljuding a lot of the officer corps (although not all) have responded to him. I think he will win the military vote by a large margin this year.

        • 64 sherijr
          April 18, 2012 at 2:18 pm

He deserves to win the military vote.. any soldier/ family paying attention will know who’s looking out for them and their interests. As a vet I know exactly who wants to cut my va medical.. and I know exactly who wants to keep my va medical intact and working for me 🙂

Sherijr, I will concur with you on this about Presidents really paying attention to the military men and women who escort him from Marine One to AFOne. I always feel such pride for our military men and women when I see our CIC talking with them as he walks to his planes. It is so refreshsing, and you are so right, they all seem to enjoy that time and space with him as well.

We are so blessed to have POB serving as our POTUS and CIC. What a time to really show him and VPBiden how much we care by working out bottoms off for them in this election. We all will travel with him together to make this journey come to a very happy and victorious celebration on Nov. 6, 2012.HZ

Our message to Ms. Muffy is to go and stuff it. We do not need her vote anyway, so no need to muddy the water with a non-thinker on the issues that her grand children and their children will be living under for the next generation.

I would like to bring the Ms. Muffy to my town and let her drive my wonderful car on the torn up roads that should have gotten repaired, but no, Mr. Drier decided that his little GOPers in my city hated the POTUS and VPOTUS that they refused to get the funds to help people do the work, thus put people back to work.

Oh, I am not just crying here, I called him, e mailed him, and told my city council a few words that rocked their seats. We will win this fight, count on it, TOD Family.

And to the “Christian Lady”, maybe she should spend some time on her knees and examine her own soul and system of what Christ told believers to do. These Christians who are always envoking God into their ugly minds make me want to slap the hell out of them. HZ

REPORT: Broadcast News Networks Misrepresent Intelligence On Iranian Nuclear Issues

    ————————-

Many in the media have long since repudiated their failures in the lead-up to the Iraq War, acknowledging that they were too quick to accept the false notion that Iraq possessed a sizable and dangerous cache of weapons of mass destruction. The question today is whether they have learned from those mistakes.
    .
    .
But fast forward to today, and the media’s coverage of Iran’s nuclear program suggests that some outlets have not learned from Iraq reporting failures and risk repeating history. Media Matters reviewed transcripts of ABC’s World News, CBS’ Evening News, and NBC’s Nightly News between November 8, 2011 and March 31, 2012. The examination reveals that once again the media is frequently misrepresenting the expert opinion of the intelligence community.

WASHINGTON — Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) on Tuesday placed a hold on two controversial pieces of legislation that would force states that allow the concealed carrying of guns to recognize each other’s permits.

Feinstein informed party leadership that she would oppose the quick passage of two concealed carry reciprocity bills that critics argue would cause a “race to the bottom” in terms of concealed weapon law in the United States. The senator cited the shooting of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed teenager killed in Florida, as one of the reasons she was applying the legislative brakes.

Federal Study On Effectiveness Of Food Stamps Nearly Absent From TV News

    ———————

On April 9, the U.S. Department of Agriculture published a study finding that food stamps reduced the “prevalence, depth, and severity” of poverty between 2000 and 2009 and that their effects were especially strong during the recession, thanks to the stimulus. Television news outlets have all but ignored this story– it has been mentioned only once on broadcast and cable news programming since April 9.
