rise and shine

Today: PBO begins his day with a CEO Summit of the Americas. He will then join the other leaders for an arrival ceremony in the early afternoon. From that, they will go into the plenary session, which will run throughout the afternoon. The leaders will again have a dinner during which they will continue their discussions.

Sunday: In the morning there will be an official photo for the Summit. That will be followed by the leaders’ retreat, which will run throughout the morning and conclude the summit program. The President will then have a multilateral meeting with Caribbean leaders.

In the afternoon, the President will have a bilateral program with President Santos of Colombia that will include a meeting and a working lunch. The two leaders will then hold a joint press conference and will participate in an event at San Pedro Claver Church. In the late afternoon, the President will return to the United States, getting back to Washington late Sunday night.

I hope so too because I don’t think PBO will be taking Demo home with him on AF 1, as is the Columbian Obot’s wish. Bo Obama is the only non-human allowed on that plane, and I read they already had to replace the carpet when Bo forgot his manners on one jaunt. Demo could probably not be trusted in that area either.

PBO debunks Romney lies in Telemundo Interview

According to Reuters, when the president was asked by Telemundo about Romney’s claim that 92% of the people who lost their jobs in this recession were women, he said, “Everybody who’s looked at this claim knows it’s bogus. What he doesn’t mention obviously is that all these job losses, both men and women, took place as a consequence of the worst financial crisis and the worst economic crisis that we’ve seen since the Great Depression,” he continued. “They’re a direct result of the policies he wants to go back to, and I think the American people understand that.”

Colombia really is a casual country, in terms of dress. I see PBO lost the tie!! (I still say the US Ambassador could have at least worn a freshly pressed shirt…) I love, love, LOVE the Colombian First Lady flowing pink/orange dress. It looks like something our FLOTUS would wear.

Maybe it was linen … which while being one of the coolest fabrics one can wear, also wrinkles immediately and with every movement you make almost or when you sit down and lean against your chair, etc.

I pray for the safe return of our wonderful president but also an enjoyable trip.

  13. April 14, 2012 at 8:49 am

As others have noted, this is the only source for details of President Obama’s trip. The public would not even be aware that he was in Columbia but for all the reporting on the Secret Service trouble and recall. And though some are making a big joke of the Secret Service prostitution charge, whether involving 1 agent or 12, I don’t think it’s funny. And even though this incident seems to involve agents who are responsible for prep before Obama’s arrival and not his close personal agents, that is a critical role also and needs to be taken seriously. As I recall, this pre-arrival contingent has had some problems previously—-remember something involving DUI or public intoxication when PBO was in the Quad Cities in Ia. Secret Service needs to require more discipline from their agents. Their job is too important.

dotster, I totally agree with you about this “not being funny” It’s not the least bit funny to me. I’m also enough of a cynic to think that it’s not a new issue. In other words, I don’t think it’s just starting in PBO’s term. I think it’s just getting REPORTED in PBO’s term. ANYTHING to make PBO look bad.

              April 14, 2012 at 1:36 pm

Anniebella, I am with you on this point. I am not going to sugar-coat these actions and comments by the rightwngs. You called it right. These are right wing ‘red-necks’ who have a deep problem that stems from their grandpappies’ teachings and ugly hearts that seeps out everyday againist POB. Plain and simple. I know this crap ,when I see it. I had to live with it, and I still see it right here in my community.

This crap is real and serious. Yes, some say, well they also did it to Bill Clinton. Yes, to some extent, they did, but NOT like this crap that we are seeing today. No, No, No. I know the difference between this crap towards Bill Clinton and President Barack Obama.

But one thing gives me peace, and that is the fact that POB is smarter than these racists people. And he knows who he is, where he is going and how he is going to get there. They Will Never Be able to diminish who POB is, now or anytime. That is the assurance that I have.

These are scumbags filled with hate, But you know something ,that makes me fight even harder and with more fire in my being to get President Barack Obama re-elected. And I do not have to report everyday what I am doing, just move as each of us are called to move and get the work done. You do not have to announce each minute what your game plan is going to be. Just do it. POB has always taught us that and still is teaching us. If you have a great teacher, you better listen carefully and follow the examples and learn the lessons well. Move on with a fierce urgency of Now. Keep our business to ourselves and get it done. And do not stop the conversation.

Speak up and out when the discussion is NOT right from the other side. Call them out, vent it out within your family here, and those who are not up to the gathering of the sharing and discussions or how we can move forward, then step back for a few minutes, or step out for a few minutes and catch some fresh air and enter back into the room, If you so desire, But Do Not Stop the Conversation. We learn from each other. We talk and we listen to each other. Then we move on with a clearer map of keen directions to guide us. We will not allow these other people to continue to frame the conversation for us, we have a Big Goal here to get done. Let us move together.

I am positive that Chipsticks will tell us when we have gone too far. This is her creation, and we all have respect for her and this beautiful haven. I do , and when I do not, I want Chips to be the first to call me on it. I am here to learn, help, share, learn from ohters, and most of all support, and respect our President, Barack Obama.HZ

PRESS ON as Bobfr always says.

Good Morning/Afternoon Chips and TOD Family. Sue, I concur with you. I am certain that this all will be resolved in a timely manner by those responsibile. I would not put anythin pass any ot these people, but we can count on it that POTUS will not tolerate the SS agency to tolerate such behavior either.

We know that anything to try to take away the good things that POB is trying to accomplish will and always will be taken to a nasty level as long as he is in the Oval Office. However, knowing the core of POB and how he runs a tight ship especially with those around and representing him and this country, he will have NO patience and drama around him. However, awful the media has been or will be to POB, he will move on but you bet your ass , he has given directions for whoever is in charge to get their asses in gear ASAP.

We pray his SS detail will do their best to protect POB and do the job well. That is what I ask for above all. After all POB does his job and no one can dispute that. POB works hard to uphold his oath of office, and that is why we will continue to support him, and not be sidetrack by all of the crap that the MSM seem to enjoy each minute of the day.HZ

I don’t think the general public ever knows when he is out of the country. When he was on his Pacific-Asian trip, I had a doctor’s appointment. By this time he was already in Australia. The gal I saw first was surprised to learn that he was out of the country. So I asked the doctor and he, too, had no knowledge of it. Poor media coverage. And it’s a pity, too, because he represents us so well–always makes me proud to be an American when he is abroad. A real shame that people are so ignorant of this that they never “really” know what he is doing.

Angela Glover Blackwell on the American Dream
    April 13, 2012

Angela Glover Blackwell has spent her adult life advocating practical ways to fulfill America’s promise of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” for all. Now, with our middle class struggling, poverty rising, and inequality growing, the founder and chief executive officer of PolicyLink, an influential research center, finds reasons for hope in the face of these hard realities.

On this week’s Moyers & Company, Bill Moyers and Blackwell discuss what fuels her optimism.

That last shot in the arrival video with the side view of Air Force One with the United States of America emblazoned on the side and the presidential fleet advancing forward affected me deeply. I am not one to be overly impressed with the outward trappings of American power, but today this scene got to me. Maybe it is because I am so proud of the one upon whose shoulders so much depends, or that I can feel even more proud of being an American because of how PBO has reset our nation’s relationships with other countries that had been so damaged by past administrations; or maybe I should not try to analyze how I feel and just accept the well-spring of pride that I feel.

Last night I went to a Democratic dinner and was very pleased to see a consistency of message from speakers at the state and local level. The messages were: unwavering support for PBO; 100 percent support of Buffet rule; determination to beat back R efforts to undermine democracy and women’s rights; and full-throated unapologetic support of ACA. One comment I took away was that the Democratic Party is the only one that still believes in the American dream and the only one fighting for the middle class. Stark contrast with the party of rich white men. This was the first time in years that I had heard an echoing of the same message in every speaker which gave me hope that the state Dems are really getting their act together. Great, great praise for OFA from Dem party representatives, which was good to hear. One leader said OFA was great in 2008, but now they are exponentially better.

    • 69 hopefruit2
      April 14, 2012 at 9:23 am

Thanks jackie for sharing with us this positive piece of information. I agree that OFA seems to be rather extensive and exceptionally well-organized this year., and I’m confident that this superior campaign element will produce a result for Democrats that matches or exceeds the outcome of 2008. On the contrary, Romney does not really have a great ground game and is relying mostly on the MSM, and SuperPac Ads to propel him to the WH. In the age of Youtube and Twitter, that is no longer an effective way to run a campaign.

I can’t be the only one creeped out by the Romneys’ salivating over their newfound issue with which to beat up the President. It’s cringe-worthy.

My husband made the best observation this morning: Ann Romney extolling mothers and the Family at the NRA convention — how many
mothers have seen their families destroyed because of the American orgasm over guns? Another example of how the Romney policies enrich their own power at the expense of everyone else.

Pro-family means a living wage — Ann Romney are you going to campaign for that? Evidently you’re the only woman your husband listens to. How about health care? How about a mother with MS whose husband loses his job and she loses her health care? Do you care about that mother?

I actually had some respect for her before the last few days. She’s as bad as her husband.

      • 72 anniebella
        April 14, 2012 at 9:58 am

57, you are so right. Ann Romney won’t be able to save Mitt Romney, because the war on women has to do with the policies Mitt Romney supports, which is and will hurt women. People can like Ann Romney, but not agree with her and her husband and what they mean for women. So give Ann Romney her 15 minutes of fame, or shame, whatever you want to call it.

      • April 14, 2012 at 10:03 am

Most of these GOP water boys and girls do not know who they are dealing with when it comes to the depth of the brilliance of Dr. Dyson. Good morning everyone. I decided to watch Chris Hayes after reading on twitter what’s going on, boy was I glad to see the professor push back on that lying lady from the Washington Times. Michael Eric-Dyson is calling her out on her BS. Good

Good morning and good day TOD. Lots of stuff to do. Beautiful day here in Pennsy. Just need to say, after looking at all the attention PBO receives worldwide, “he belongs to ME world. He is MY President!!” 😀 Doesn’t it make ya feel good just to know this, TOD. Have a bless day !

Good morning everyone. Thank you Chips for the wonderful pictures. I am so proud of our President, “Michelle’s man”.
I just wish him a safe return to his lovely wife and family. He sure does us proud when he is here and away.
The Prime Minister of Jamaica looks so together. Regardless of the warm weather and laid back clothes, at least make an effort.
    I’m just saying…..
