on cloud nine

You unfortunate people must dread when the blog hits the next million because it usually means you being pinned against a wall and threatened, in a particularly menacing kind of way, unless you mark the occasion by donating $$s to Obama/Biden 2012…. when $$s are in short enough supply and you donate already.

But …… and it’s a HUGE but ….. if you can – and if you’d like – maybe you could donate $9 today, just to kick-start our all-night celebrations? (UTAustinLiberal will bring the champagne later, and amk has promised tasty treats. VC will sing, but don’t let that put you off).

Anyone who donates more than $9 will get a photo of Newt in his mankini sent to them by email.

This is the link

Again, if I show up as a lady called Barb, or as an employee of a chap in Alabama, that’s not me (I’ve never even been to Alabama) …. the gremlins are still playing with my OFA account, they’re probably Willard supporters.

Absolutely no worries if you can’t donate right now, or if you already donate to another fundraiser – the $$s are all going to the same place.

Nine million thanks everyone 😉

PS I am actually being a bit presumptuous – we’re only on 8,995,887 hits as we speak, and it could be that we won’t hit 9 million until Malia is being sworn in as President. But just in case we hit the mark in the next hour or three…..

I’m____(garbled mumble) and I’ll celebrate with a couple of Dem vinos. Also—-I can add these special talents for party enhancement purposes—–majorette strutting with fancy baton twirling, marching band style drumming on drum with real drumsticks (impressively marching to the beat included), some weak piano but will play if there is a loud demand to hear my rendition of Chopsticks, but no bagpipe this time if that’s ok with all of you—-too bulky—and annoying screeching sound. I could attempt a cartwheel but it’s been a “couple” of years and I would hate to disrupt the party with the need for emergency medical services—–might be a downer! I could sing too, I guess, but my family said that I’m the only one who thinks I’m a good singer—-mean!—-guess they’ve forgotten about my blue ribbon in the 6th grade vocal contest. Anyhoo, what do you guys got?

Hi Everyone. Just checking in…and out…and then in again.

Don’t you just love how the media acts like its OK for a candidate to do a complete 180 on their views once they enter the general elections? Its like, ‘yeah, that guy so totally lied to your face for several months, but its cool now we’re in the general.’ NO, NO its not OK. Its the MSM’s job to keep politicians honest and its viewers informed.

This is an amazing event. What an outpouring of love and appreciation for POTUS and his team who have worked so hard for this day. And what a beautiful blanket with the Presidential Seal draped over the podium. I sent a tweet to Jon Carson to see if we could find out more about it.

ABC News’ Sunlen Miller Reports: Traveling though Montana on Monday, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., made his first stop as a presidential candidate to an Indian reservation – and got a little more than expected.

Obama was adopted as an honorary member into the family within the Crow tribe that inhabited the reservation – who gave the presidential candidate a new name and new parents.

“Awe Kooda bilaxpak Kuuxshish” was the honorary name given to Obama meaning, “one who helps people throughout the land.”
Obama promised the crowd that as president he would have regular meetings at the White House with tribal leaders and appoint an American Indian policy advisor.

Romney Campaign Silence of Lilly Ledbetter Act

        April 11, 2012 at 2:50 pm

The Romney campaign held a conference call with reporters this morning to lie about President Obama’s support of women. A reporter actually asked a very good question. Their lack of an immediate response backfired and the Obama campaign pounced. In addition to the youtube with the LONG SILENCE, they also provided a statement from (wait for it) LILY LEDBETTER herself for good measure. This is just pathetic. The Romney camp has to huddle to figure out how to respond to a question about equal pay for women. This should be a no brainer. You can’t make this stuff up.

“I was shocked and disappointed to hear that Mitt Romney is not willing to stand up for women and their families. If he is truly concerned about women in this economy, he wouldn’t have to take time to ‘think’ about whether he supports the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. This Act not only ensures women have the tools to get equal pay for equal work, but it means their families will be better served also. Women earn just 77 cents to every dollar that men earn for the same job, which is why President Obama took decisive action and made this the first bill that he signed when he took office. Women should have the ability to take their bosses to court to get the same pay as their male coworkers. Anyone who wants to be President of the United States shouldn’t have to think about whether they support pursuing every possible avenue to ensuring women get the same pay for the same work as men. Our economic security depends on it.”

          April 11, 2012 at 3:02 pm

Can someone PLEASE explain why one would not support equal pay for women>?
Seriously, I don’t get why someone would have to stop and think about something like that. Especially if said person is going around blasting Obama for economic policies that are supposedly bad for women.

Because the GOP has a problem with women — a hatred embodied in their bulbous her, Rush Limbaugh. They are threatened by women and fear the consequences of female power.

Facts to Mitt Romney is like garlic to a vampire.

President Obama and his campaign must be giddy about this. Not just how badly they handled the question about equal pay but because President Obama actually has a record of supporting women from day one. The first bill he signed was the Lily Ledbetter Act and we have his senior advisor Valerie Jarret as Chair of the White House Council on Women and Girls. By all means, let’s talk about which party really supports women. Bring it.

With passion and courage, women have taught us that when we band together to advocate for our highest ideals, we can advance our common well-being and strenthen the fabric of our nation. – President Barack Obama

Romney Spins ‘Buffett Rule’ As Boon For Warren Buffett

Asked whether Romney would support the “Buffett Rule” if that exemption is eliminated, a campaign spokesperson did not respond.

Stan Collender, a budget expert and partner at Quorvis Communications, said the Romney campaign’s implication “sounds like total and utter nonsense and a heavy-handed attempt to change the subject.” Collender said the Buffett Rule would “require that Warren Buffett and others who earn $1 million per year pay their fair share in taxes. Does that sound like something that will benefit him financially?”

The Romney campaign’s line of attack is part of a broader effort neutralize the candidate’s vulnerabilities by projecting them onto Obama. It’s a risky strategy — one that involves picking battles on Obama’s turf: In this case, it allows the president to repeatedly tout his support for a popular economic policy.

    • 153 theo67
      April 11, 2012 at 4:08 pm

Romney’s been used to challengers who are clueless, vain, insane, or just plain bigoted – or members of the lazy puppet-media. He’s in for a nasty surprise if he thinks the President, his campaign or his supporters are going to just roll over and let him etch-a-sketch his recent past or get by with nonsense word salad like they tried above. Many non-Republicans in this country actually think, read papers and real news articles, stay informed, value education and abhor liars. I think Romney is not very bright himself or a deep thinker or courageous, and is extremely timid, sheltered and delicate – so, it will be interesting to watch him stave off attacks of lunacy from the right, and common sense and truth from the left. He may have a meltdown.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Michelle Obama has been everywhere from a West Point mess hall to a NASCAR speedway in the past year to drum up support for military families through her “joining forces” campaign. On Wednesday, she marked the program’s one-year anniversary by taking stock of what’s been done and challenging Americans to do even more.

At a chilly ceremony on the White House lawn, Mrs. Obama praised businesses, churches, schools and other organizations for working to hire more veterans and provide other services to military families but added, “we are not here to pat ourselves on the back.”

    ‘Doubling down’ on caterpillars

    By Steve Benen

Priebus added, “If the Democrats said we had a war on caterpillars and every mainstream media outlet talked about the fact that Republicans have a war on caterpillars, then we’d have problems with caterpillars.”

This morning, the Republican party chief appeared on MSNBC and was offered a chance to walk it back. He didn’t.
The RNC went on to say “there is no war on women,” adding that there is a “real war on women” being waged, inexplicably, by President Obama.

Romney Campaign Enlists GOP Women Who Opposed Equal Pay Bills To Attack Obama

As part of its bizarre strategy of blaming President Obama for the GOP’s “war on women,” the Romney campaign released statements today from two Republican Congresswomen, Reps. Mary Bono Mack (R-CA) and Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA). The statements correctly note that women have been hit particularly hard by job losses in recent years, but misleadingly lay the blame for those losses on Obama, just as Romney himself has been doing recently.

These woman have no self respect.

Huge opening to talk about GOP Governors who’ve been laying off state workers like crazy and slowing down the recovery. There’s nowhere for Mitt to hide. They can’t have the cake (i.e. lay off hundreds of thousands of state workers) and eat it too (blame it on President Obama). It won’t work.
