White House Live

CNN live streaming

****

Morning everyone. Methinks we could do with some light relief today, and what could be lighter than a spot of egg-rolling?

So, there’ll be lots of eggy pics a little bit later.

Meanwhile, I’m waaaaaaaaaaaaay behind in replying to emails after working over the weekend, but I’ll catch up as soon as possible – promise!

Mark Knoller is being very disgusting on Twitter. He needs to be given an STFU Easter chocolate rabbit.

Isn’t he?! I can’t stand him. And it’s not just his cynicism towards this President, it’s his complete lack of disrespect for the office (have you ever seen him in the WH press room? He’s overweight, unkempt, he slouches down in the chair…Ugh!) and lies and misinformation he spreads from his CBS perch. Tiffany network my behind. Bloody hack.

    • April 9, 2012 at 8:45 am

      Hopefruit,
Take notice, all these, and I mean ALL, are former George W. Bush supporters who feel that Bush was treated unfairly by the Press.

I think I read that somewhere. The question is, does GW have that much influence to stack the WH press corpses with bitter freaks?

    • April 9, 2012 at 8:47 am

Leave it to Mark Knoller to imply there is some nefarious reason why President Obama is hosting the Easter Egg Roll event. Sheesh……

      134 YEARS OF FUN

      ———————————–

On Monday April 9, 2012, the First Family will host the 134th annual White House Easter Egg Roll. This year’s theme is “Let’s Go, Let’s Play, Let’s Move” and more than 35,000 people will be joining us on the South Lawn for games, stories, and, of course, the traditional egg roll on the Lawn.

In addition to all the fun and games, the day’s activities — which will include sports courts and cooking demonstrations — will help educate families on smart ways to incorporate healthy eating and exercise choices into their daily routines, which are key pillars of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative.

I checked to see but I couldn’t find anything, if he’s married or not ….not that I care but he’s really getting on my nerves. He seem to be so jealous of President Obama.

I found this article from 2010.

Mark Knoller of CBS News wins a well-deserved WH Correspondents award for sustained excellence in WHouse coverage
Whenever we are treated to TV coverage of a White House Press conference, Mark Knoller’s warm face – he has a beard – and distinctive voice will be emanating from the second row with a reasonable question. He is a reporter and does not have to get his kicks as a shrill voiced adversary. I am one of thousands who follow his reporting on Twitter. His trademark tweets-in-a-series usually pick up the essential elements of the most complex story in a most rational and readable style. He is a humble, aw-shucks kind of guy who has gotten well-deserved kudos from his fellow journalists. Congrats!

        So there you have it.

This is what qualify as ”sustained excellence in WHouse coverage”.

He’s unprofessional, he always tweets his not subtle digs at President Obama, he seem to be extremely jealous. The articles he wrote about the debt were a joke.

He fits right in with the other clowns. Those are not professional ”journalists”. They carry the GOP water and have no shame about it.

Yes, Romney gleeful over bad news. Every one should know that a major presidential candidate is routing for unemployment.

    • 42 anniebella

The pundit hope it’s good news for Romney. What if the job numbers are better next month, what would this same pundit say? These people are full of alot of B.S., that’s why I do my best not to listen to them.

    • 43 hopefruit2
      April 9, 2012 at 9:47 am

That is SAD. And these pundits should be ashamed to be heard publicly announcing that a Presidential candidate is banking on bad news for the majority of AMericans to get him in the WH.

As a candidate President Obama had a vision for the kind of America he wanted, and he’s been working on it as President from day 1 with a deeply thought out and carefully executed strategy. President Obama is able to articulate his vision and inspire multitudes of people both here in America and across the world. We are now glimpsing portions of that vision as his policies take effect, and we know that we would be seeing a lot more weren’t it for the GOP and their dishonest media propaganda machine.

Romney on the other hand doesn’t have anything remotely close to what someone could identify as a vision or a plan. He’s simply relying on “bad news” or on the corporate media to spin their reports with an anti-Obama slant, while protecting him. Many of Romney’s pals – including Netanyahu want him to win because they dislike PBO or they selfishly anticipate personal favors from Willard, not because they see him as being a great President who would improve the lives of millions of ordinary American citizens.

PBO’s supporters in contrast want him to win because they see him as a great President who can move this country forward in the way that it needs to be. They are inspired and enthusiastic to give him another 4 more years, because they like what they’ve seen so far, and would like to see more, not less. That will drive them to the polls in droves in November, regardless of what antics Romney and his MSM cronies engage in.

I’m banking on the majority of Americans seeing the stark contrast, no matter how the media tries to prop up old Willard.

The Obama administration is quietly diverting roughly $500 million to the IRS to help implement the president’s healthcare law.

The money is only part of the IRS’s total implementation spending, and it is being provided outside the normal appropriations process. The tax agency is responsible for several key provisions of the new law, including the unpopular individual mandate.

Republican lawmakers have tried to cut off funding to implement the healthcare law, at least until after the Supreme Court decides whether to strike it down. That ruling is expected by June, and oral arguments last week indicated the justices might well overturn at least the individual mandate, if not the whole law.

Why is Netanyahu involved in our presidential election?

    • April 9, 2012 at 9:04 am

dots, I just finished reading that NYT article about the relationship between Romney and Netanyahu and it made me sick. Romney bows down to BiBi at every turn. Disgusting and terrifying.

    • 59 hopefruit2
      April 9, 2012 at 9:09 am

Here’s Why – according to the article:

// Mr. Netanyahu insists that he is neutral in the presidential election, but he has at best a fraught relationship with President Obama. For years, the prime minister has skillfully mobilized many Jewish groups and Congressional Republicans to pressure the Obama administration into taking a more confrontational approach against Iran.

“To the extent that their personal relationship would give Netanyahu entree to the Romney White House in a way that he doesn’t now have to the Obama White House,” Mr. Indyk said, “the prime minister would certainly consider that to be a significant advantage.” //

This just make my blood boil. Romney is a puppet. Whenever I hear any news about Netanyahu’s shenanigans, I am reminded of this article in the New York Times back in January. I can’t get it out of my head. Very disturbing indeed…….

        Don’t Do It, Bibi

        By ROGER COHEN

        ——————————

PARIS — A U.S. ambassador in Europe was recently asked by an Israeli ambassador what could be done to improve the lousy relations between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Obama. He replied: “Every once in a while, say thank you.”

The American ambassador added a couple of other thoughts. “Maybe, once in a while, ask the president if there’s anything you can do for him. And above all stay out of our election-year politics.”

This sharp riposte reflects Obama’s fury at several things: the way Netanyahu has gone over his head to a Republican-dominated Congress where he is a darling; Netanyahu’s ingratitude for solid U.S. support, including the veto of an anti-settlements resolution at the United Nations last year and opposition to the unilateral Palestinian pursuit of statehood; the delaying tactics of Netanyahu reflecting his conviction Obama is likely a one-term president; and Netanyahu’s refusal to pause a second time in settlement building for the sake of peace negotiations.

          • 65 hopefruit2
            April 9, 2012 at 9:24 am

Exactly, if he wants to”play president” with Bibi like a couple of 3 year olds in the sandbox, then go ahead. But neither he nor Bibi will be running this country. Not now – not ever.

        • April 9, 2012 at 9:25 am

Romney “says he would not make any significant policy decisions about Israel without consulting Netanyahu”?

Oh wow. So if he became President, Romney would consult with Netanyahu on the possibility of an Israel/Iran war, and would allow him influence his decision-making on the issue?

As if there weren’t enough reasons already to re-elect PBO….

          • 67 jackiegrumbacher
            April 9, 2012 at 9:33 am

Good lord. He’s announcing he doesn’t have the brains to make policy decision and has to consult with a foreign power. He’s also pretty much saying he’ll start a way with Iran on Netanyahu’s signal? So when Nettie says jump, Romeny will say, how high. This guy isn’t fit to lead a Boy Scout troop, let alone a nation.

              April 9, 2012 at 10:01 am

This is also why you don’t see Republicans pushing foreign policy, they KNOW that President Obama proved them wrong by hunting down and killing Osama bin Laden and a bunch of Al Qaeda leaders, whereas the previous Republican President who was supposedly “tough” on foreign policy didn’t care and sent 4000+ troops to THE WRONG battlefield for NO REASON AT ALL!

            • 69 vcprezofan2
              April 9, 2012 at 10:51 am

‘He’s announcing he doesn’t have the brains to make policy decision’

And he does this consistently! He has told the American people REPEATEDLY, in so many ways, that he has no ideas of his own.

          • April 9, 2012 at 9:44 am

You know, when the entire RW of this country is sliming PBO for bowing down and apologizing and whatever, there’s this a-hole who would shine Bibi’s shoes if he had the chance. Netanyahu helped him run Massachusetts! They’ve known each other since 1976.

          • April 9, 2012 at 9:50 am

After the “open mic” iincident, Romney wanted PBO to release all notes and transcripts of his meetigns with the Russians so that we could be sure PBO wasn’t making scret deals to sell out the US. Aside from the sheer ludicrousness of such an idea, I wonder how Romney would react to a demand that he release all notes and transcripts of his discussions with Bibi. After all, maybe he is going to sell out the US. You can be sure that Romney would refuse to do so, just like he is refusing to make complete financial disclosures.

I have a confession to make guys, I’m in love with ELMO. I can’t help it. That voice turns me into mush. And he is so funny. He is one of my favorite Muppet characters. My daughter grew up on Sesame Street. Gordon looks fantastic. Below is a link to a PBS Hour presentation on the man behind the voice. It’s just delightful.

‘Being Elmo’: The Man Behind the Muppet

    —————————-

Chances are you’ve heard Kevin Clash many, many times and don’t even realize it. He is everywhere. You’ve heard his voice on TV, and if you have children you’ve heard it coming from one of their toys, one of the most popular ever, over and over and over again. You’ve tickled him.

    Clash is Elmo.

Clash began making puppets at age 10 and performed in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor as a teenager. He came to Sesame Street after attracting the attention of Muppet designer Kermit Love and became an official puppeteer on the show in 1984. He’s won nine Emmy Awards for his skills and now serves as Sesame Street’s “Muppet captain” and co-executive producer.

Short, but excellent MUST READ. Won’t be any more clear than this! RW is all about EMPLOYER EMPOWERMENT,NOT WORKER EMPOWERMENT!

    http://www.denverpost.com/quillen/ci_20335828/unemployment-works-gop

Employer empowerment is especially blatant with the Republican-sponsored Blunt Amendment, which would have allowed employers who offer health insurance to disallow just about any specific coverage on the basis of moral objection. There are business owners who have a “moral objection” to spending money on employees, so you can imagine their employer-provided polices. Aspirin, anybody?

And in Colorado, we’ve seen another example of Republican employer empowerment. Democratic state Sen. Morgan Carroll sponsored a bill to limit the use of credit reports in evaluating job applicants. This was attacked by Republicans as infringing on employers’ rights to snoop.

Protestors opposed to Florida’s “stand your ground” gun law are targeting Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

A group called the “Dream Defenders” plans to assemble on Monday at noon outside Rubio’s local office to protest his support for the law.

The protest is just the latest sign that anger over the February shooting of Trayvon Martin, and the likelihood that the issue will continue to be a topic of conversation in Washington when Congress returns next week.

FYI- the one thing I will say about Israel and Japan, is that this President built up their Air to Air missle defense.
Israel even calls their air missle defense iron dome!
These Patriot 3 missles can defeat anything from Iran, even the technology from China and Russia.
Japan can also defeat anything from NK, which is the next potential crisis.

Totally agree! I was noticing in that tweet Chips shared how not too many smiling faces were surrounding the two ‘performers’. Since I’ve become used to the Obamas spreading happiness by their very presence I find I pay more attention to the dour faces that Repub presence evoke over…and over… and over again. This seems to have been the case OVER THE YEARS, not just this election year.

Authoritarian people have a stronger emotional need for an outlet like Fox, where they can find affirmation and escape factual challenges to their beliefs.

Mitt Romney’s campaign is pulling negative ads against Rick Santorum from Pennsylvania while the former Senator looks after his ailing daughter, Bella, according to ABC News.

Pennsylvania is considered Santorum’s last best chance to swing momentum his way as Romney marches towards presumptive nominee status. In general, Romney has shifted focus towards President Obama and away from Santorum in recent days – his campaign has mentioned his GOP rival in a press release only once in the last week after frequently sending out attacks several times a day when the race was considered more competitive.
