Hi everyone, I have to go out for a few hours but will be back later and will catch up with the day.

Talk later 😉

Betsym the reasib they look like old, outdated gasbags is because they ARE old, outdated gasbags. What I’d like to know is why-oh-why these old gasbags keep dying their hair BLACK. Don’t they have mirror in their bathrooms?

Perfect thread to post the good news.

Just returned from my daughter’s convocation and from today, she can officially add “Dr.” to her name. Proud day it was for me and my family .

This was a girl who clung to me when I took her to her first day at KG school and baled her heart out asking me to take her home. 🙂

How fast the years have rolled on.

Congratulations to you and your “Dr.” daughter. Yes, the years do fly by. I still remember how proud we were when my daughter graduated from St. John’s University, 3000 miles away from California. I was the one who was crying when I took her to day care for the first time!

Again, Congratulations. I just love seeing our young women succeed!

Thank you guyz. She is the first to graduate from our family’s next generation. Next year, my sister’s daughter gets to add Dr. to her name. With that we run out of doctors and then four years from now, we start again with a series of son engineers. 🙂

Congrats to your daughter & you amk! I remember how proud we were when one of our daughters added that Dr to her own name. I got a laugh about your daughter crying over going to kindergarten. Our daughter did the same & also asked: “How long do I have to go to school?” like it was some form of hideous torture.

The years, they do go so fast.

Would never have that opportunity if it hadn’t been for parents who believed in me, always told me that I could do anything I wanted if I tried hard enough. We will have our own family celebration tonight. Both her paternal grandma and maternal grandpa passed out from the same medical college more than 5 decades ago. So it was a joyous as well as a nostalgic moment for both of them, especially since the chief guest was their own beloved professor from 50’s. The guy was pushing late 90’s and yet gave an amazing speech.

May the justices please meet my sister-in-law. On Feb. 8, she was a healthy 32-year-old, who was seven and a half months pregnant with her first baby. On Feb. 9, she was a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the chest down by a car accident that damaged her spine. Miraculously, the baby, born by emergency C-section, is healthy.

This is what follows that terrible moment:
My brother’s small employer — he is the manager of a metal-fabrication shop — does not offer health insurance, which was too expensive for them to buy on their own. Fortunately, my sister-in-law had enrolled in the Access for Infants and Mothers program, California’s insurance plan for middle-income pregnant women. AIM coverage extends 60 days postpartum and paid for her stay in intensive care and early rehabilitation. But when the 60 days is up next week, the family will fall through the welfare medicine rabbit hole.

OH. There’s more. It gets worse from here. Please read.

OT: Did anyone watch the new show Scandal starring our very own Kerry Washington – a fierce supporter of Pres. Obama who also works her butt off for OFA going around the country touting Pres. Obama’s accomplishments – on ABC last night. OMG! The show was insane. It was intense, wonderful, brilliant, funny, dramatic and the dialogue was full of snap, crackle, and pop! It’s about a former White House Legal Counsel (Kerry Washington) who opened a crisis firm in Washington D.C. and hired lawyers, ex-investigators and ex-CIA to solve the scandals and problems that plague the elite and not so elite of D.C. It’s full of intrigue and political insider commentary. Anyone who’s interested and not interested in politics will love the show.

The creator of the show is Shonda Rhimes who created Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Last night’s season opener was A+. Loved how they kept on highlighting the fact that Pres. Obama had repealed DADT so every man and woman can love whomever they want to while they serve our country. They also highlighted the hypocrisy of conservatives who rail against the LGBT community while they themselves are gay on the down low. All the characters aren’t whom they seem and there are many layers to them. My fave characters for now are Kerry Washington aka Olivia Pope and Darby Stanchfield aka Abby Whelan a fierce lawyer who’s also damned proud of being a Liberal.

    I’d definitely recommend the show.

I watched the show last night, I completely agree with you. The show was great and Kerry was wonderful in that role.

    • April 6, 2012 at 1:03 pm

I did watch to unwind from a tough day and it was very interesting in terms of plot and character devo, set design, moody palette. There were a couple of overdrawn moments but mostly I was pretty riveted. Kerry Washington is terrific in this, you can’t take your eyes off of her because she is so whip smart and cunning and I love her style. She’s both strong and vulnerable, which makes it real. I’ll definitely tune in again.

While watching, did anyone else think about her portraying Michelle Obama someday?!

Beautiful speech by the President this morning. He seems to really understand women’s roles in our country. I love his family stories and his dry humor. I love this man. Too bad the right can’t stop complaining long enough to listen to and get to know this man.

I would love it if the msm would call out Romney on his consistent barrage of lies. There should be a law. At least when the president critizes his opponents he goes for the truth. The Republican’s rule of thumb is to lie about everything. The problem is they think this is ok and should be a part of politics. How can the american people trust liars? How is this good for democracy?

WASHINGTON — A Wisconsin law that made it easier for victims of wage discrimination to have their day in court was repealed on Thursday, after Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) quietly signed the bill.

The 2009 Equal Pay Enforcement Act was meant to deter employers from discriminating against certain groups by giving workers more avenues via which to press charges. Among other provisions, it allows individuals to plead their cases in the less costly, more accessible state circuit court system, rather than just in federal court.

In November, the state Senate approved SB 202, which rolled back this provision. On February, the Assembly did the same. Both were party-line votes in Republican-controlled chambers.

SB 202 was sent to Walker on March 29. He had, according to the state constitution, six days to act on the bill. The deadline was 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The governor quietly signed the bill into law on Thursday, according to the Legislative Reference Bureau, and it is now called Act 219.

Walker’s office did not return repeated requests for comment.

Hello TOD. Late again, home doing spring cleaning. Listening to Rev Al, with Sec. of Labor Hilda Solis. She is upbeat about the jobs report. Says we are on a good trajectory. It’s going to take time, they are using new tools for job growth. There are about 3 million jobs available but trained personnel are much needed. I will listen to a re-broadcast of Rev Al’s radio show this evening to get more detail as Sec. Solis talks fast 😀 Chin up everybody.

I’m not surprised that there are lots of jobs available because in our area, hiring has really picked up and our local newspaper reported that we were down to 5.9 unemployment in the county. Talked to a friend who does title searches and he said business is booming because house sales are growing. I’m seeing a lot of SOLD signs around lately also. Obviously the ebbs and flows of unemployment are regional, but these are encouraging local signs from one corner of the world.

Hola & happy Friday to all you working people, I hope everyone is having a lovely day 🙂

I want to share my experience trying to send money~ first off they make it toooo hard to do! First I tried paypal but that didn’t seem to work w/ Hachiko’s account.. I then went to my bank, thinking that would be cheapest & smartest- to deposit from my acct to her acct.. no siree, my bank charges $20 and thats for those of us with accounts.. ridiculous! So I then tried Western Union online, which I’ve used before last year for one of my sons. But of course I couldn’t remember my ‘pin’ number 😦 then had to have a ‘secure’ master card number.. which I didn’t have. Luckily I called my bank and they walked me through getting a secure MC number.. and finally back online to Western Union.

Ultimately it cost only $10 and though it will take 3-5 business days – it will go directly to her bank acct.

If someone found an easier, faster way to do this.. please share 🙂

and thank YOU once again Chips for making this all possible 🙂 🙂 (((((((hugsToYou))))))))

Great idea hopefruit2. I am definitely bookmarking the great work that Steve Benen is doing. Also, I am compiling other information on Mitt Romney’s dishonesty to share with family and friends so that they can be well armed when discussing the election. All of these items together is just astonishing. There is something seriously wrong with Mitt Romney. He has no core. He has no scruples. No has no integrity. He is turning into a cartoon character.

      1) Rachel Maddow segment pulling back the curtain on Mitt Romney using the Karl Rove tactic of projection. It was brutal.

      2) Steve Benen weekly Mitt Romney’s Mendacity posts. There is an endless supply of material.

      3) David Corn’s article about Mitt Romney lying and the media looking the other way.

      4) From the DNC we have the WhichMitt website

      5) From David Axelrod we have the two ‘Mitt versus Reality’ videos.

Here’s something. We have a Republican lawmaker here in WA State who is interested in big cuts for 2 programs that help the unemployed. He was collecting unemployment in 2002 after he won the election and had been serving for several months. He did pay it back (after he was caught). Now I read that he was in the Navy in the 80’s, non-combat, and got some kind of back injury. He has been collecting $600 a month since–although he does his job, golfs, fishes, and hikes. He has gone after welfare folks big time. Name of Zarelli. Fine example of Republican charactor.

    • April 6, 2012 at 3:42 pm

Can we say more HYPOCRISY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Until I read this story, I had forgotten about someone I know who collects monthly disability from military for injured back. Here’s the irony: It is the wife of the young man (former student, family friend, neighbor in northern OH) who is always sharing links on FB — anything that is critical of PO and his policies. We frequently get involved in a long thread and he ALWAYS…..honestly EVERY time, he insists he is a centrist “just like most of the country.” Yet, he has EVERY right-wing talking point down perfectly. And, he has said to me many times that I am the one who talks or pushes hate and prejudice and racism because I share things from Pragmatic Progressive or We Survived Bush, You Will Survive Obama. Of course, I never share anything that is remotely racist or spreads hate…..usually the opposite. That’s how touchy this guy is. He is a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force and his wife was in the AF when they met. Then, suddenly, she was out and later he mentioned that she hurt her back and is on disability. LIke this lawmaker, she does EVERYTHING she wants to do with NO problems.

Until few minutes ago, I had had the TV on CNN for updates about the Navy jet crash. After covering that, they always go back to the “news”, mainly the jobs/unemployment numbers that came out today. Gees…..negative, negative, negative……dig, dig, dig at the President. Thankfully, my hubby went outside so I now have Martin on. Today is the first time I’ve had CNN on in months. Now I know why.

O/T: I heard a caller on Ed’s radio program just before 1:00. She was very emotion as she shared this story: When she was 18-20 years old, she was involved with a man who was a little older than her though she didn’t say exact age. He talked her into going off bc for “religious reasons.” Nagged at her until she gave in. She became pregnant. Almost immediately he became abusive and controlling. She said just talking about it takes her back to that experience as if it were happening now. She expressed how thankful she was for being able to obtain a safe and confidential abortion and get out from under him. She later learned that he had done with a few other young women. It was a very emotional call and Ed handled it beautifully. She was livid with what the GOP/TP is doing to women and kept saying that women must wake up and vote them ALL out……state and federal level.

President Obama has an aggressive internet strategy to woo supporters.

Type in a Google search for the words “immigration reform,” and in the split second it takes for your results to pop up, the president’s reelection campaign may begin courting you. Up comes an ad for barackobama.com, next to the search results.

And if you take the next step and click through to the campaign’s Web site, ads for the president’s reelection may start following you around the Web.

Hello folks, I have been messaging back & forth with Hachiko/Marabout the last few minutes… and things are not so good at the moment. She can no longer stay w/ Miss Pat, as her daughter is coming for Easter, etc.. she is helping Hachiko w/ a hotel room for a couple nights, while Hachiko gets the stuff in her apt packed up.. and then can hopefully move to Maine where LunarSea has offered a longer oppty to stay. I’ve just checked and it costs $1003. to rent a 26′ uhaul truck, apparently that is the size Hachiko used to get from Fl to NY with her stuff. Miss Pat has offered 3 nights in a hotel, I can pay for a 4th night.

I guess my question is this: can we somehow come up w/ the money together for a uhaul?

    • 160 sherijr
      April 6, 2012 at 4:07 pm

Okay it just seems to be getting worse.. they’re trying right now to find an available hotel room, as the holiday weekend has the hotels booked apparently.

Heres my call for a PLACE to STAY for HACHIKO.. I realize its the holidays, but does anyone have a place she can possibly stay for a few day/week ? she needs the time to get her belongings packed, to save the money she gets for a uhaul to move. Ya’ll have risen above and beyond.. but this ain’t over for her yet, I’m afraid.

Wesleya posted in the last thread about her getting a wester union card that allows folks to just put money on the card via any western union.. he would have to explain that further.

right now the issue seems to be getting a roof over her head tonight- due to the holiday.. she is supposed to get back to me after she & pat finish calling hotels.

Some background on what’s happening with Iran and Syria and things to look out for in the weeks ahead:

    Obama’s signal to Iran

The Erdogan back channel to Iran is the most dramatic evidence yet of the close relationship Obama has forged with the Turkish leader. Erdogan, who heads an Islamist party that is often cited as a model by Muslim democrats, has been a key U.S. partner in handling Syria and other crises flowing from the Arab Spring uprisings.

A sign of Erdogan’s role as intermediary is that he was accompanied, both in the meeting with Obama and on the trip to Iran, by Hakan Fidan, the chief of Turkey’s intelligence service. Fidan is said to have close relations with Qassem Suleimani, who heads Iran’s Quds Force and is probably Khamenei’s closest adviser on security issues. Also joining Erdogan was Ahmet Davutoglu, the Turkish foreign minister.

Syria was another big topic in Erdogan’s discussions with Obama and his subsequent visit to Iran. The Turkish leader told Obama he would press Iran to reduce its support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, whom Erdogan once championed but is now determined to oust. Erdogan said he planned to tell Khamenei that Syrian attacks on Muslim opposition forces must stop. The Turks have been trying, meanwhile, to bolster the opposition so that it can provide a credible alternative to Assad’s rule.

Some Arab analysts see a weakening of support for Assad in recent days from Iran and its Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah, whose leader Hasan Nasrallah last week called for a “political solution” with the opposition. The key player in any such managed transition would be Russia’s president-elect, Vladimir Putin. U.S. officials hope he can broker a Syria deal before he meets Obama at the G-8 summit next month.

U.S. officials believe that if Iran refuses to negotiate, it will be easier to tighten sanctions even more.

Dylan Ratigan is a d***. PBO is “disastrous” on job creation and curing all of the ills of the banking system and snide comments about PBO’s good ‘language” but not good actions. I thought Jared Bernstein was going to blow a gasket. He held his tongue and said there is no way this President could get anything close to a stimulus through this Congress.

Unfortunately it’s easy for me to armchair quarterback, but Bernstein did what all Democrats do: he said he didn’t want to blame any one party, blah, blah, blah. STOP APOLOGIZING for the truth. Republicans ARE to blame. 100%!!!!! Throw it back, respectfully, at Ratigan and lay the blame where it belongs.

Then Bernstein framed it that even if it’s impossible, there is a case to be made to the American people. You want more jobs? There are schools, roads, bridges, sewer lines, a decrepit electrical and gas supply system and so many other infrastructure needs. I thought that was a good plan. Make it clear that it is Republicans who refuse to do anything to help this economy.

The Ryan/Romney budget is proof that they are not serious about the deficit and have absolutely no interest in helping the middle class. They only want to stovepipe what little the 99% have right up to the top to help out the sales girls at Tiffany’s and the yacht makers.

Imagine being able to charge an electric vehicle  – on the go or at home – without ever having to plug-in.

A new funding opportunity from the Energy Department seeks to accomplish just that. We’re announcing up to $4 million to develop wireless chargers for electric vehicles (EVs). This funding opportunity is made available through the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy ‘s Vehicle Technologies Program.

EV wireless charging has the potential to accelerate the adoption of EVs – by making them more convenient for consumers to charge, whether they’re at home or away,  and to reduce the total energy storage requirements of EVs, unlocking the benefits of lighter and smaller battery packs, lighter vehicles, higher efficiency and longer ranges.

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1 : Life is not fair – get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world won’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6 : If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent’s generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they’ll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.

    • April 6, 2012 at 6:49 pm

#1 Life isn’t fair – this one should come with some ifs, ands or maybes. Because there are certain situations where you need to fight and push to make it fair. If a woman or a minority came to me and said they were getting paid less for the same work, I would never say, “life isn’t fair, get over it”.

OKAY UPDATE on HACHIKO: She can’t stay longer at Pat’s thus is going to hotel tonight for 3 nights.. Pat put it on her card, but is on a fixed income herself.. and thus at $182/ per night for the hotel room- it is obviously quite expensive. I can call in to the hotel or via Paypal and put in another $100./ to offset Pat’s input (I’m waiting for Hachiko to let me know) if some other folks can donate up to $82. Then Miss Pat will only have to pay for two nights. Unless someone has a room for her to stay. three nights in the hotel gets her sheltered through Easter night at least

Apparently, the Republicans leaked information on Panetta traveling Home.
And they are hammering him on the cost, 866k dollars of tax payers money.
First, that is a lot of dough. But, did they do this to any other cabinet members, in previous administrations?
If not, they are trying to get People mad who work for this President.

This is ridiculous. I am sure mediamatters will step in and point out the hypocrisy. A little OT, I just heard Melissa Perry say that Ann Romney can be effective in helping Romney with women. She says that Ann can talk about her breast cancer survival. That’s fine, but her husband’s policies goes against helping other women with the same problem, such as doing away with planned parenthood. When FLOTUS stumps for PBO she talks about his policies and and how they are and will help women.

whats the matter w/ MHP – does she think that Anne being a female w/ previous cancer is somehow going to make up for Romney’s anti-women policies?

        • April 6, 2012 at 6:25 pm

MHP is another Chris Hayes. She has Bosses, you know?

          April 6, 2012 at 6:45 pm

These people like Melissa Harris don’t get it, it’s the policies, it’s what the man stands for, and we have heard all what Romney said he would do against women, and it’s find that Ann survive breast cancer, but you can bet she had great health insurance. But Romney wants to get rid of Obamacare, and he supports Paul Ryan’s budget who want to get rid of Medicare and Medicaid. Women will suffer because of that, and putting Ann Romney out there won’t help.

          April 6, 2012 at 7:38 pm

i did not get that she was saying that….i thought that what was being said was that Romney’s campaign would use her to try to soften women towards Romney…..

and they probably would…now whether it would be effective is another matter

      • 231 Linda
        April 6, 2012 at 6:36 pm

Maybe Melissa Perry should do some research on the type of breast cancer Ann Romney had……

All cancer is scary….but not all is life threatening.

Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS, also known as intraductal carcinoma) is the most common type of noninvasive breast cancer or pre-cancer in women. Ductal carcinoma refers to the development of cancer cells within the milk ducts of the breast. In situ means “in place” and refers to the fact that the cancer has not moved out of the duct and into any surrounding tissue.

Melissa gets on my nerves…. I wonder if Buddy Romer will be on her show again this weekend.

        April 6, 2012 at 6:49 pm

COS, you are so right, FLOTUS speaks of POTUS policies and how they hay and will help people. Now let us see Ann Romney talk of how Mitt policies will help people, specially women.

      • 234 Ladyhawke
        April 6, 2012 at 6:49 pm

I bristled at that comment too. Seriously, MHP do you really think that women are going to be so taken by Anne Romney talking about her breast cancer that they are going to vote for the party that shows disdain for them and their reproductive rights? The irony is that the policies of the Republican Party would deny some women needed breast cancer screening. If Anne Romney can justify that, I would like to hear the explanation. Clearly, getting breast cancer screenings is not an issue for her. Most importantly, Anne Romney is not running for the presidency, her husband is. The Republican Party war on women is real. Mitt Romney can’t Etch-A-Sketch away their dismal record.

      • April 6, 2012 at 6:58 pm

Having Ann Romney talk about surviving breast cancer is very stupid considering that Romney’s/GOP policies would make it so that lower income women can’t afford to get tested or treated for theirs. Jeebus f-ing! who is running their campaign? Her story would leave a WIDE opening or the Obama campaign.

Since the Trayvon Martin story has received national attention, Sanford, Fla. has gone from a virtually unknown city to the center of the spotlight. Now, a group of neo-Nazis are patrolling the area, saying they are “prepared” for violence in case a race riot ensues, the Miami New Times reports.

The Detroit-based group said they are not advocating violence, but instead are responding to white residents’ fear of a race riot.

“Whenever there is one of these racially charged events, Al Sharpton goes wherever blacks need him,” Commander Jeff Schoep of the National Socialist Movement told the news outlet. “We do similar things. We are a white civil rights organization.”

Schoep said that measures by groups like the New Black Panther Party, who offered a $10,000 bounty for the “capture” of George Zimmerman, are a sign of the “possibility of further racial violence.”

“We don’t wish for things like that,” he said. “But there have been race riots in Detroit and L.A., so we know those types of things happen.”

Schoep said the group’s purpose is to show solidarity with the local white community, not to take sides in the case.

“That’s for the courts to decide.”

No…..they are not taking sides…….. ( My head hurts )

Evening all. Just so you know, Hachiko & I have been in touch. She is understandably stressed but is holding up. Yes, it is set that she is coming to Maine. That is the easy part as we are here whenever she makes it. So there is no pressure beyond getting her apt cleared out.

The wrench is the unexpected issue with needing another place for the weekend. She did mention that she was probably going to a hotel, but I didn’t realize how expensive and of course being a holiday weekend hotels love to spike their rates. The goddess/god is smiling on her that there was a room available.

My understanding is this will be for the weekend only and she will be able to stay at Pat’s while she empties her apt.

Thanks to all the generous souls who have chipped in for the hotel room. Unfortunately this is the worst part of my pay cycle, so I cannot add to it at this time.

Getting her stuff out of her apt. and sorted, sold and/or packed on the truck will take some time, from what I can gather. I don’t dare to venture a time frame as that will just cause more anxiety and pressure, but most likely she will be given a time frame by her landlord.

She probably won’t ask, so I’m going to put this out there. Can anyone offer her a hand at packing up the truck? If so, just get in touch and let her know or find out when she may need the extra hands to see if it will work with your schedule.

It will get better once she gets through clearing out the apt. I’m sure of it. So keep scouring those job boards and alert her to anything that sounds ‘right’ for her. Thanks to all for the caring, sharing, concern and words of encouragement.

Please keep it up. And be sure to remind her ‘It will get better’.

thank you for that LunarSea and all that you’re doing. She didn’t mention the hotel was only for the weekend, thank goodness.. that makes it easier. So far I’ve been unable to get the hotel to take a credit card over the phone.. as she didn’t want Pat to have to pay for the whole three days.

      • April 6, 2012 at 7:10 pm

I don’t know her family situation—I understand she has a son at U.Conn., but she doesn’t have any other family members here anywhere? Or friends? It must be really frightening to be in this horrible situation completely all alone.

        April 6, 2012 at 7:16 pm

I hope I’m not mistaken but my understanding is that Pat’s daughter is coming for Easter and the apt is small which is why she needed to go to the hotel. Obviously it would have been better if there was someone else with a couch or something available. But it’s working out.

Again, I hope that I haven’t read the situation wrong, but that is my understanding, ie; she just had to vacate for the weekend.

Maybe see if you can send Pat the money directly? Money Order, Check? My experience with hotels is they put a hold on the card for the total then debt the card at checkout, so I’m sure charging additional money for the same room after they put a hold on another card would mess with their reservation/booking/banking system. But anything put in mail by tomorrow’s pickup (within the tri-state area) will get to Pat by Mon, when she can pay down her own card with it. Just a thought.

I thought of something….maybe people will think it’s a stupid idea because what she needs the most for now, well beside friendship, security and all that important stuff, is money…

But it is Easter on Sunday.

Is it a stupid idea of wanted to send her something at her hotel room? Like a nice bouquet of flowers with a card…”you are not alone from your family at TOD, Happy Easter”.

I could do that if someone would tell me where to call and where to send it.

Something like that….I just don’t want her to feel alone…..

His mama told him to find out immediately if the girl (me) was Catholic, so he wouldn’t get into a situation in which he’d actually fall in love with her and then when it was too late, find out she was Catholic and have to “convert” and lose his whole family.

Okay NEW UPDATE ON HACHIKO.. she is now at the hotel.. Miss Pat booked her in through Tuesday Morning.. she hopes by then she’ll have money in the Paypal/ bank accts to pay more nights.. LunarSea, she won’t be going back to Miss Pats, there was some confusion she said over her son- I think he’s coming down from CT for a couple of days- the weekend? – to help w/ her packing of her apt.

She thinks, depending on her ex-landlord- that it may take her until the following Monday to get on the road to Maine- thats the goal it seems. She said she is exhaused and will be in touch tomorrow.

About paying the hotel direct- she checked, they only do expedia.. thus, she said- why they wouldn’t take my credit card over the phone. The only other thing she says.. is she is now finally losing the shock and feeling a bit angry at the timing of her landlord’s eviction.. the weekend before Easter for heaven’s sake, so wrong.

sooo thanks to everyone and a huge huge thank you to Miss Pat.. Hachiko appears to be settled in safely until tuesday.. ‘sigh’.

After a week in which Democrats and the Obama campaign have argued that Republicans are waging a “war on women” in an effort to solidify their base of female voters in the coming election, the president’s campaign team is seizing Friday on news that controversial Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) quietly overturned his state’s equal-pay law.

Obama’s campaign team said Friday that Walker’s move was evidence Republicans are willing to “undermine not only women’s health care, but also their economic security,” and demanded that presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney comment on Walker’s move.

    ALEC loses its anonymity

    By Steve Benen

But there are exceptions. The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) has traditionally been anonymous, working behind the scenes to advance a far-right agenda far from the public spotlight — which was always the intended plan. Shadowy obscurity allowed ALEC to be more effective and made it easier for lawmakers to follow the group’s lead without controversy.

That’s quickly changing as ALEC finds itself where it didn’t want to be: in the spotlight.
Either way, ALEC’s role in American life has been important for a while now. The difference is, Americans are starting to hear about it, and businesses are starting to reconsider their support.

These so-called “model bills” reach into almost every area of American life and often directly benefit huge corporations. In ALEC’s own words, corporations have “a VOICE and a VOTE” on specific changes to the law that are then proposed in your state. DO YOU?
