Question: I’m not keeping track of my donations to OFA. Is there a way to see how much you’ve donated on their website?

I think they might alert you if you’ve reached $2500. Because I believe that’s the max you can donate during the primaries.

      March 31, 2012 at 8:03 pm

ooops…LL I meant to first reply to you and then got distracted and posted something completely different!

I’m not sure whether there is a way to track on the OFA website. You may have to check your bank statements to know. The only thing I know is that you max out after 10 donations through a given OFA portal. You may be able to contribute in other ways (e.g., buying from the Obama store, responding to one of the emails from VPBiden, FLOTUS, Rufus Gifford, etc)

    • March 31, 2012 at 9:03 pm

I just received a letter from OFA HQ to thank me for all my personal contributions.

And, they’re letting me know I’ve exceeded the lawful amount for my OFA/OFV contributions. So, they’re dividing them between the PE and the GE unless I want it done another way, or I want a refund of the excess.

By the way, since upgrading my computer, I now can see, through my email account, some of my OFA contributions in one place.

Thank you Snoopy4eva2 for your generous contributions to re-electing the President. If a million of us Obama supporters could reach down deep and donate at least $3 to night that would amount to to $3 million.

You can give $5000 to OFA then up to $35000 to the victory find (DNC). If you win the lottery you can give your millions to Priorities USA. You can also give to DCCC or DSCC

Aye, aye LunarSea. That bit of bullshit has contaminated this thread.

        March 31, 2012 at 3:27 pm

ha ha ha ha haโ€ฆ. you must think we are even more stupid than we think you are.

I would say the only thing incredulous here is YOU with your Obama Derangement Syndrome

Why are you accusing me of contaminating the previous thread? I meant no harm. I am just as much an ardent supporter of our President as any one here. I have been an Obama bot and supporter of our President since he was a candidate for Illinois when people on the north side wanted Blair Hull over him. My intent was to discuss how wrong I thought the FL NAACP president was for wanting to distance himself from Rev AL and agreeing with Hannity that Trayvon’s situation was not racial profiling. I feel that when we feed into right wing talking points, all it does is give the right more reason to blame President Obama for their so-called claims of PBO dividing this nation. I also think it is ludicrous for the right wing to want Rev Al Sharpton Fired which is what I was trying to say.

Since you think I’m stupid is that an invitation to leave this site? I have never attacked anyone on this site the way you two have done me.

Sorry some comments upset you. I missed seeing the input.

I hope that you do not make a decision to leave the site based on these thoughts. every so often, someone may hurt another one’s feelings but that is not the norm.

If I am at the receiving end of stuff that others post which upsets me then I point it out if I can and sometimes wait for others to give their input. If all fails then I take a few moments away chilling or calming my self.

one thing I wish I could do sometimes is to retract comments I make reflexively or in a hurry

Again, thanxx I hit the submit button too soon before I could explain myself. I am beginning to realize you guys joke between each other a lot. I am used to being serious. I cherish my love for President Obama and am very defensive of him. I have fond memories of helping organize a rally for him in Uptown when he ran for 2004 Senator. I have a scrap book which I have been putting together since 2004 campaign memorabila.

I plan to give it to my adorable, one and only 9 yr great-grandson who helps me with more up- to -date memorabilia when I leave this world. He loves President Obama. He votes the President in his kindergarten class

I am so proud of our President not only because he is a fellow Chicagoan but because of the impact he has left on this world and my 9 yr great-grandson.

Most of us hit the button and then later we want to “un-send” but it is not possible.

What I know for sure is that every so often, the arguments may get close to over-heated or near the end of the line. This often happens when people feel even more deeply about the subject at hand. Eventually, we will return to our jolly/good humored selves – and on this site this often happens quickly with people upbeat again.

Please stay and enjoy the input from others – Ms Chips runs a fantastic site here. Hurray to The Obamadiary

            • April 1, 2012 at 12:01 am

It seems like you are a good supporter of President Obama and the Rev A. who are both favorites around here. We try not to post to right-wing sites even if it is to make a point for the President. If you haven’t posted or read here much you probably wouldn’t know that. We welcome any supporter of PBO here but we know how hard our lovely Chips works to keep the real trolls out and that makes people jumpy.

          1. You posted extensive links to a RWNJ site that is almost guaranteed to stir the pot. In this case quoting an article and link to breitbart.com/Big-Government

          2. followed by a short paragraph of righteous indignation

          3. when admonished, seek pity for the way you are treated

If you are not a troll then shame on you for following their MO to the letter. There has been enough discussion of this on this board about these types of posts and Chips has repeatedly asked that we NOT post links to redstate or sites like them.

          Breitbart.com ferchrissake!

I see no need to apologize for my reaction when it looks like the post was written to get a reaction. Maybe it’s just not the type of reaction you had pre-conceived.

If you are a real supporter, learn from the experience and move on. I have and can assure you that your time here will be more enjoyable. no Breitbart.com, no redstate.com, no I’maravinglunaticeRWNJ.com okay?

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) promised Republican counterpart Mitch McConnell (Ky.) before adjourning the Senate Thursday night that President Obama would not appoint any of his nominees to the Executive Branch or the bench during the chamber’s two-week break.

“As the result of a successful discussion among the minority leader, the White House and myself there will be no recess appointments during the coming adjournment,” said Reid, speaking from the Senate floor.ย

Lootenit. Could you enlighten this white hat on that process you use to post tweets into a TOD thread.

          • 84 Bobfr
            March 31, 2012 at 10:13 pm

            Why sure ๐Ÿ™‚

Depending on whether you use Twitter itself or an application like TweetDeck, every Tweet has a date/time stamp just as every post on TOD does (if you hover over the date/time under your handle – ‘yardarm756’ – you’ll notice it changes color; if you right click and select copy link then you’re set to re-post it as a unique URL).

In the Twitter application – you’ll notice that if you hover over the handle of the person whose tweet it is or anywhere along that ‘line’ several options appear like ‘retweet’ ‘reply’ … what also appears is ‘open’ so if you right click on open and select copy link you’ve got what you need. Just open a reply or comment window in any TOD thread and paste. The tweet link URL will appear. When you post, the link will appear as the tweet. When anyone clicks on the date in the tweet it will open the twitter application to that link and they can reply, retweet, etc.

In Tweetdeck, if you use it, in each tweet block the lower line contains a date/time stamp – right click, select copy link, etc.

She just keeps on doing her thing. She is raising wonderfully gracious, smart, giving, helpful girls. I really pity the boys who have to get past her and POTUS to date those cuties!! I think PBO said that he was quite happy that his girls were surrounded by men who carried guns. I’m sure he was kidding. (well, kinda…)

If I am not mistaken, when you started this your goal was something like $300 and there is a good chance you will be responsible for 10 times that amount.

Congrats, and I know you will tell him about TOD and just how supportive we are of him and how, iof his staff monitored this site they would get all sorts of great ideas for the campaign and even running the country.

Good evening Chips and TODville. CollegeKay, I also donated several times. It is so great to be able to donate to such a great cause and for you. Can’t wait to here about your visit with the President.

It has been a crazy week for me. A friends father was in the hospital, she runs a small restaurant so several of her friends all pitched in to cover so she could spend time there, then on Wed. night her brother died. So we have had much to do. I got to put on my waitress legs and kept busy. Everything has slowed back down now. So I am able to breath. I was able to read all week but had no time to comment. This is such a great place. no where else can we get the real news. Thanks Chips and everyone here.

Here’s a neat story: last year one of my neighbors started mowing the nature strip in the front of my house, (probably got tired of seeing my weeds!), and was really motivated to do it weekly… I left him a note on the hedge once last summer, thanking him with my blessings!, tho I never caught him in the act! Well, today, as I pulled up to my driveway, there he was, so I waved as I parked the car, then ran inside and grabbed half a dozen of my mixed Obama (variety pack) 2012 buttons, went out and followed him along until he noticed me. We shook hands and I thanked him for all the times he’s mowed for me, then held out all the buttons and asked if he would accept them. The look on his face was delightful when he saw what they were, he took them and out them into his pockets, then said, “That’ll work!”. It was really nice to finally meet him and thank him in person, plus do a little campaigning! Now, off to buy another bag of buttons! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I have no idea, isonprize, I believe in my heart that God sent him to me during 2010-11 I worked 15 months straight without a day off, just because I had two elderly ladies at the time and things just kept happening with them! I wasn’t able to keep up with the regular chores of indoors and outdoors, and so God sent me a kind and caring neighbor to help! He does the strip of my neighbor to the east of my house as well. It is so appreciated!

Pamela, you’re in Seattle,WA right? It must be a “WA neighborly” trait. I worked with this guy from WA and he traveled alot. He would be gone for three weeks at a time. He would tell us of his neighbor mowing his lawn all the time. I thought that was real nice to have a neighbor that would do that. If that happened in CA, the neighbor might get sued (I know I am generalizing, there are some folks in CA who know their neighbors real well and mowing their lawn would be appreciated).

            April 1, 2012 at 10:03 am

Yes, jojo, it might be a Seattle thing… People here are usually very friendly, and enjoy keeping an eye out for our neighbors, at least in my district. It was even more so early on, before there was a massive movement into the area from California and housing prices went sky high…. It’s a very BLUE place, so yard signs are not stolen or damaged, and cars are not vandalized for showing political views. Lots of Obama~Biden 2012 bumper stickers visible. It’s good!

I like to keep those variety buttons in a basket by my front door. Then when I have visitors, I offer them a choice as they are leaving. I am always intrigued to see who picks what, and if they are shy, like the plumber last month, I asked him how many in his family, then just made sure he had enough for everyone! It is so great to see how delighted people are to have a campaign button! Really fun for me, and helps Obama~Biden 2012.. So it’s all good!

The media and the left don’t need to try to portray Ann Romney as anything. Ms. Ann will do that herself, because that’s how she is!

    • March 31, 2012 at 11:34 pm

I read that article, and I can say that this was nothing but a sad defense of Ann Romney being a potential first lady. The article does nothing but sum up the choice of First Lady of the United States, would you rather have a woman who worked her way up from a Lower Middle Class life to being VP of a Hospital, who has her own education, her own mind, for a time was the breadwinner of the family and has made a niche in history that will be a separate story from her husband, who treats her as her equal, or a woman who married money, and stays subservient to her husband, while he patronizes her by saying her job is more important than his, though you highly doubt that there weren’t any nannies their to aid them. I mean really, conservatives are trying to tell us that people want their first lady to be like Laura Bush, which aside from Inaugurations and election year appearances on CNN/FOX/or Today you hardly ever saw her outside of the White House. Hell no, I want four more years of Michelle.

    Good evening everyone.

Back home and glad to see that Collegekay is doing very well. It is an honor to be a part of our victory tonight. Even though you are tired, that is why you deserve this win and a good nigjht’s sleep. I wish that I could donate more. I have a great homemade recipe for a cool facial mask, if you need for the before the dinner date. Sorry, no suggestions on how not to faint, though. You are on your own.

FLOTUS knows how to slide in those leather pants. There is no wonder POB sings to her, whispers in her ear and looks at her as if she is all that and some more.

The girls are just growing up so beautiful. Glad to know Mrs. Robinson is there to instill her morals, integrity and class as she did FLOTUS.
Just priceless! No nanny could ever impart that type of love and wisdom. And I am not knocking nannies at all, I ‘m just saying…….

FLOTUS is so cool. She and the First Daughters got some slime on them and she just laughed it off and kept dancing with the kids in the audience. She’s so normal and down to earth. From what I hear, that green slime is very hard to get off clothes and one’s body yet she took it in stride and just laughed it off. We need this family in the WH for four more years.

When I was at the gym, Chris Matthew’s weekend show came on and they were discussing ACA and the Supreme Court decision, and CM actually questioned whether if the ACA is declared unconstitutional will PBO be found violating his oath of office??? What a fucking nightmare. I couldn’t turn it off, but I was incensed at what he and the others were saying. It was as if they were frothing at the mouth that PBO could “lose” this, his signature achievement, and not at all thinking about what effect this would have on sooooo many people. Assholes.

Amk for Obama, you are absolutely right, “msm is full of fucking dumb mofos.” You would think that newsmen would at least have some rudimentary knowledge of history as well as rudimentary knowledge about the way the American political system, based on division of powers, and checks and balances, functions. People, especially the holier than thou progressives, forget that the Great FDR was frustrated with the Supreme Court in his first two years in office. The Court invalidated most his early New Deal programs. That’s why FDR tried to “pack the Court in his favor.” This is also why many so called progressives lionize FDR as a strong president. What they forget is that if President Obama tried to do wthat FDR did in fighting the Court, he would be summarily impeached! People like Matthews, Greenwald, Olbermann. the HuffPost and others would be on board in supporting his impeachment and removal from office.

Thanks Betsy for sharing this article! This why we who support the President must be ready to take the fight to right wing promoters of injustices that are now sitting on the Supreme Court. The three justices highlighted in this article, Scalia, Thomas and Alito, are the most blatantly corrupt. Unfortunately, our timid mainstream media are totally silent about their corrupt behavior. Let’s vow to speak out loudly if the Court overturns the ACA. Our protest was mute both when the Court selected George W. Bush in 2000, and when it declared corporations to be persons who could use their unlimited resources to steal elections. Lets pledge this time to fight back if the right wingers on the Court invalidate the ACA purely on ideological grounds and not legal precedents. We must not allow this right wing Supreme Court to demoralize us.

Can I take this opportunity to say how deeply moved I am by the comments to my comment on Tally’s post yesterday. I didn’t have the courage to check back until tonight and I am moved beyond words. My particular, deep gratitude to Tally who knows I love the shit out of her and to Chips, who is the embodiment and the manifestation of our heart and soul.

Well this old broad is trainable, and I worked extra hard today. I donated enough times in small increments to collegekay to probably be locked out! (didn’t even know that could happen!) Someone needs to tell me how I can fix that! I drew on mutual love with a conservative friend today, and asked him to please read http://drjengunter.wordpress.com/2012/03/28/cancer-v-the-constitution/ which may be the singular most effective personal story to sum up the importance of ACA. I figuratively held the hand of an elderly friend who I have been trying to get through her irrational fears on ACA for three years. Finally, channeling Tally, I told her if she didn’t want to believe me, ask her grandchildren to show her online what is the truth about this bill. Figured it would do her grandchildren some good, too.

I was busier than usual on twitter. I was busier (and braver) on FB. No matter how much we all do, we all need to do just a little more.

We are truly a family here and families get cranky sometimes. I cannot thank all of you enough for your kind words.

One of my favorite authors is the science fiction writer, Theodore Sturgeon who wrote not about space ships but how those space ships would affect the human condition. In one novel or short story (I forget which), he talked of a lonely man who finally met a woman who “filled him to overflowing, and the overflow were the words, “I love you”. That is exactly how I feel tonight about my TOD family. You fill my heart to overflowing.

    And our beloved President.

Let’s beat the shit out of the bad guys and win this thing.

Michelle looks like a high- fashion model or like she should be on the red carpet, out-shining the so-called celebrities. One of the many reasons that she looks so amazing is that she is so confident that she wears the clothes rather than the clothes wearing her.

I am actually very impressed with how the men on this site have acted after seeing that fabulous photo of the First Lady in the sexy leather pants. Compared to the Lady’s reaction to POTUS wet suit in France, the men here have been extremely restrained.

Finally, some one who agrees with me! On the other hand it’s the “Good Crazy” people that make this site one of the best and most unique. I just love how smart people on this site are not afraid to let their hair down and have fun and then quickly get back to discussing serious issues. The teabaggers are all consumed with hating President Obama and his family. I don’t even think they ever take time out to laugh and have fun with their candidates. All I read from their sites is nothing but Obama hatred. What a miserable life they must lead!

          • April 1, 2012 at 4:11 am

Yes, nathkatun7. It is the “Good Crazy” that keeps us laughing with each other and just having great clean fun. I think we feel very comfortable with our beloved Chips who is the model for our site, and who does not take any crap from those who want to come here and spoil our space.

I also think that POB brings out the goodness in us. He brings out our “better angels”, and that keeps us focus. Yet we can smile in our comments, laugh with much pleasure in our comments, and yet be so respectful to our President and First Lady and VP Joe Biden and SLOTUS, Dr. Jill Biden. We just have some very fineeeeeeeeeee men and beautiful ladies in that WH. No one can or will match them.

So, let us make sure that we do all that we can to get them re-elected, Then we can continue as a family, to enjoy out POTUS, FLOTUS, and VPOTUS and SLOTUS. PRESSON / HZ

This Time poll is a waste of time and not a valid reflection of anything. Obviously it’s being rigged by a set of trolls – with Ron Paul at almost 88% “definitely” how the hell could that be valid?!?!?

      • 304 amk for obama

          March 31, 2012 at 11:39 pm

Ron Paul has a lot of so-called trolls floating all over the Intertubes. And many of them supposedly occupy the comments section of the online news articles. Yet Ron Paul can’t get a quarter of the votes in the average GOP primary with losers like Santorum, Mankini, and Willard to compete with. And he gets ~ 88% in a Time poll? Who is Time fooling…this poll is rigged – and I won’t be surprised if some of the rigging originates from Time itself, as I suspect is the case with many of these MSM online entities that have their own plants.

            April 1, 2012 at 3:34 am

Ron Paul = Ross Perot! He is going nowhere! In two of his runs for the presidency, Paul has yet to win a single contest (o.k. his supporters claim he won Maine this year). If I had Willard”s wealth, I would bet $10, 000, that Ron Paul will never be nominted by the Republican Party, or elected President of the United States. PERIOD! But since I don’t have that kind of money, all I can say is that only deluded people think Ron Paul is going somewhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if he eventually meets the same fate as Dennis Kucinich by being voted out of Congress. Sadly, of course, I may be proven wrong on this one because Texas is not like Ohio. Any State that would vote three times to elect the idiot Rick Perry governor cannot be counted on to act rationally.

I didn’t look at any of the other polls. I just voted for FLOTUS and left. I don’t really care about the others. I just don’t want to see her swiftboated on even a ridiculous poll.

But I certainly appreciate your wading thru and bring us back the skinny on it. Yes. Ron Paul followers are freaks. They are also the closest in skill to PBO in utilizing social media. Not close, but the closest out of all the candidate.

For such a small following they are everywhere, all the time. Now if only they can use their presence for the good of us all…

        • 313 hopefruit2
          March 31, 2012 at 11:53 pm

I also voted for FLOTUS. Having said that, Michelle Obama cannot be swiftboated by that Time Poll even she gets damn near 0%. Any Poll which has Ron Paul at 88% when he can’t even break 15% in the average GOP primary lacks any credibility in my view. Ron Paul followers are in reality a very small subset of folks, and I believe some of the online media comments sections are manipulated to give the illusion of lots of support for Ron Paul.

I think Jackie O was graceful and glamorous in a distant, royal way. Miche is graceful yet unbelievably, viscerally sexy. I wouldn’t say glamorous because she’s so accessible and down to earth and womanly.

I have this very conversation with my sister. Jackie O had the rich glamour thing going on. Almost untouchable. A beautiful pic in a magazine. Michelle’s is as you say ‘down to earth and womanly’. The appeal is different.

And I say this as a diehard Jackie O fan. I was very young then but I was fascinated by them during the presidency and really affected by his assassination. The Obama’s are the only first family to get that respect and admiration since.

  82. April 1, 2012 at 12:21 am

This is one f the best things I’ve read a long time:

…What does all this bode for the general election? By this point it wonโ€™t surprise you to learn the answer is, โ€œWe donโ€™t know.โ€ Because according to the latest theories, the โ€œMitt Romneyโ€ who seems poised to be the Republican nominee is but one of countless Mitt Romneys, each occupying his own cosmos, each supporting a different platform, each being compared to a different beloved childrenโ€™s toy but all of them equally real, all of them equally valid and all of them running for president at the same time, in their own alternative Romnealities, somewhere in the vast Romniverse.

And all of them losing to Barack Obama.

    • April 1, 2012 at 12:26 am

Romney is the kid who wants to be quarterback and doesn’t know anything at all about football. He’s hoping his daddy will buy the position for him and doesn’t care if the whole team loses as a result of if the game of football suffers, so long as he gets to wear a #1 on his jersey and call all the plays, not realizing what will happen to him every time he gets sacked in the pocket.

    • 365 amk for obama
      April 1, 2012 at 12:34 am

      LOl. Loved it bwd.

But the Romney candidacy represents literally a quantum leap forward. It is governed by rules that are bizarre and appear to go against everyday experience and common sense. To be honest, even people like Mr. Fehrnstrom who are experts in Mitt Romneyโ€™s reality, or โ€œRomneality,โ€ seem bewildered by its implications; and any person who tells you he or she truly โ€œunderstandsโ€ Mitt Romney is either lying or a corporation.

Probability. Mitt Romneyโ€™s political viewpoints can be expressed only in terms of likelihood, not certainty. While some views are obviously far less likely than others, no view can be thought of as absolutely impossible. Thus, for instance, there is at any given moment a nonzero chance that Mitt Romney supports child slavery.

Entanglement. It doesnโ€™t matter whether itโ€™s a proton, neutron or Mormon: the act of observing cannot be separated from the outcome of the observation. By asking Mitt Romney how he feels about an issue, you unavoidably affect how he feels about it. More precisely, Mitt Romney will feel every possible way about an issue until the moment he is asked about it, at which point the many feelings decohere into the single answer most likely to please the asker.

      April 1, 2012 at 12:35 am

What a great paragraph. I think this statement has come the closest to capturing the whole essence of the Robme figure. That romniverse is certainly vast.

A MUST READ on the Koch Bros. http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/peopleandpower/2011/10/2011102683719370179.html

Since People & Powerโ€™s report on the Kochs aired last fall, supporters of the Tea Party movement have complicated the Republican presidential primaries. Tea Party supporters have shifted from candidate to candidate and failed to coalesce around Mitt Romney. Given the divisions, the Kochs have not come out publically for any candidate. They are setting their sights instead on defeating Barack Obama and expanding their influence in the US House and Senate.

According to Ken Vogel of Politico, who appears in the Koch Brothers update, one of their more ambitious new projects is setting up a national voter database called Themis to expand their fundraising and mobilising machinery. Vogel says that the effort is unprecedented, and reveals the Kochs determination to develop capabilities reserved for the major political parties in the past.

Chips, this is an excellent read onthe Health Care Debate in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court GOPers themselves are on trial here. The NYT editoral states clearly:

………”If the conservatives decide that they can sidestep the Constitution to negate Congressโ€™s choices on crucial national policies, the courtโ€™s legitimacy โ€” and the millions of Americans who donโ€™t have insurance โ€” will pay a very heavy price. Chief Justice Roberts has the opportunity to avoid this disastrous outcome by forging even a narrow ruling to uphold the mandate and the rest of the law. A split court striking down the act will be declaring itself virtually unfettered by the law. And if that happens along party lines, with five Republican-appointed justices supporting the challenge led by 26 Republican governors, the court will mark itself as driven by politics. ”

No truer words spoken. I would hope that if they struck down this law, Americans will open their eyes and see the Roberts Court for what it is. An extension not only of GOP, but the Teaparty.
