Robert Shrum: Will a Tea Party Supreme Court guarantee Obama a second term? The court’s conservative wing appears ready to engage in some despicable judicial activism on ObamaCare….
Recall the scorn toward health reform dripping from the lips of Injustice Antonin Scalia. Or think of the tight-lipped Clarence Thomas, who could send a mannequin to sit in his place at the court’s oral arguments for all the difference his brooding presence makes… Some observers, and administration officials, hold out hope that Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Anthony Kennedy will decide to save health reform from the revanchist claims of right-wing constitutionalism. I’m pessimistic because I lived through Bush v. Gore, when the court acted like a political ward committee…
…. Largely missing from the coverage of the health reform case are the most important consequences of nullifying the law: The tragedy of tens of millions who would again be left without insurance… It took a hundred years to remedy all of this by passing health reform; it could take decades to pass it again….
…. The president certainly doesn’t want to see his landmark achievement, unequaled since the New Deal and the civil rights revolution of the 1960s, left in the judicial dust. But ironically, such a result could rebound to his benefit…. So far, Republicans have been able to demagogue health reform without providing any real plan of their own …. Romney and his party would have to say something more, but they have nothing coherent to offer….
…. I hope my pessimism about a right-wing revolution dressed in judicial robes will be proved wrong …I hope that John Roberts, who at President Obama’s swearing-in couldn’t remember the Oath of Office, at least remembers his own….. I hope for this, but I fear the alternative, a decision that would live in infamy….
…. Perhaps the GOP presidential candidates are right about the boilerplate echoing off the walls at their rallies — that this is “the most important election of our lifetime.” And unless they draw back from the brink, a slim Republican majority on a debased Supreme Court will help Obama win it.

Woot, Collegekay’s still leading!
Midnight tonight is the deadline for donations, if you can help push Collegekay over the line here’s the link (if you could donate in $3 increments that would be perfect)
Thanks everyone – and good morning 😉
Hi
Morning Elle, morning everyone 😉
FLOTUS still blushes immensely when PBO looks at her like this. 🙂 You would think they just met 3 months ago…
SIGH!
I know. It is so refreshing watching these two.
This is my absolute FAVOURITEST MO dress. 😆 Wish I had the body to wear one similar.
Morning Chips, Congrats Elle. Thank you Chips for all you do!!
Morning Africa – thank you so much! Morning everyone 😉
Looking at Michelle in this outfit, she just reminded me of Natalie Cole.
Aahhh Chips….you know me so well! My favorite pix are of our wonderful president gazing adoringly at our equally wonderful first lady.
Love that picture.
There isn’t too many pictures of POTUS and FLOTUS that I don’t love.
Happy Saturday everyone!! TeaParty Supreme Court, indeed. Reasons to vote for PBO: Scalia, Thomas, Roberts.
that was an interesting article! and another good reason to vote for PBO – in the next term there’ll probably be 3 judges to replace – do you want President Obama doing this or President “Other”?
Did you tweet those reasons already, Africa? I like them.
Exactly!
Good morning everyone!!
Good morning, everyone!
Good morning, Chips and TOD. Congratulations Elle, on #1 🙂
Thanks Hopefruit2 and thanks for the great prize Chips!
Good morning family. I’m at the DNC about to go canvass for PBO. Thanks for all the support. If you want to donate more, $3 increments would be awesome. :- ) its almost over!
You are doing a great job CK both on line and at home – thank you for your service!!!
You’re unbeatable now Kay. Get ready.
You are getting there Kay. You deserve a chance to talk to our President.
Hey Collegekay,
Hope you win this challenge. I just tossed several $3 contributions into your kitty, even though I’d already contributed directly to the campaign. All for a good cause. Actually, our very lives depend on PBO winning else we’ll be doomed. Must confess I am very scared of what the Repugs WILL do if, God forbid, they get the executive branch and/or the senate. No way, no how!
collegekay
I did 2 yesterday because I was not sure what today will bring. Anyhow know I what the today, the next day, and everyday until November will bring. I am chipping in 1 more $3. Hope you win!!!
Have a nice day. 🙂
That’s really a dumb column by Bob Shrum. POTUS is odds on favorite to win reelection regardless of the Supreme Court. Saying that POTUS needs the Court to go against ACA to win reelection is just dumb.
Hiya Forus, I didn’t think Shrum meant PBO needed the Supreme Court to go against the ACA to win in November, just that if they did he would be assured of victory???
Yup. That’s how I viewed it also. GM Chips. Are you all that’s good and sunny this morning? 🙂
Gotcha. I don’t think there are ever any guarantees on winning any election so I would disagree with Shrum on that too. I’m with Intrade which today says that Pres Obama has a 60% chance of winning in November.
Hollow victory. We need the ACA to pass muster, too. The President is going to win anyway.
This is an MSM strategy so in case the ACA is upheld there is still a “bad news for Obama” angle that can be spun. I wonder whether there are any recent articles (after 1PM yesterday) about the Supreme CT and ACA. I’ve been noticing a kind of relative silence from the MSM on this issue since midday yesterday and I don’t think it’s due to the mega millions. PBO also seemed to have a pep in his step at his two fundraisers yesterday, and he continued to highlight the ACA as if it were not under any threat.
I will be looking closely tomorrow to see what the Sunday Republican Propaganda shows are focusing on.
Good morning, everyone.
“Let not your hearts be troubled.” Enjoy the weekend and the week to come without the sound and fury of this past week. Our better days are truly ahead. The quotes from three of my favorite sources (bible, Shakespeare, and PBO), express my feelings much better than any words that I could come up with.
Chips, you rock!
Galadriel said that too. 😀
Oh and Happy Saturday! 🙂 Thanks Chips for ALL you do.
Agree with Schrum on the Sup. Ct. decision—-I’m hopeful but am pessimistic about the outcome. I think people who think Roberts will all of a sudden and for the first time ever decide in an objective, non-partisan manner are fooling themselves. As someone noted, whenever he cannot get a unanimous decision, he has always sided with the conservatives. And Kennedy is not as swingy as some have hopefully described either.
And I agree that this next election is for all the marbles—-it is not hyperbole to state that the future of this country is definitely at stake.
I’m not pessimistic about the outcome. Bob Shrum wrote this article yesterday at 9:45AM. Have you been able to find any MSM articles about the Supreme Ct and the ACA post 1PM yesterday?
Ah—you mean the initial vote results have been leaked and the silence is telling?
What do you mean? And good morning.
Good morning derbingle! I have been reading the MSM all week, and on Friday, I didn’t just note what was said, but also what wasn’t said. For example, I watched Tweety bray doom and gloom about the ACA from Mon-Thur only to not mention anything about it on Friday. Instead, he went into some ridiculous monologue about how Romney’s organizational skills and ability to defeat all his opponents in the GOP primary will make him a strong candidate against PBO in Nov. Tweety also tried to downplay PBO’s strong polling numbers by stating that March was waaaaay to early and October is the only time you can really predict anything related to the election. Next Tweety cited the economy that is not very strong as a possible problem for PBO in November.
Not once did Tweety mention the ACA in all his talk about PBO’s election prospects in November – I would think that issue would be front and center considering just a couple days ago, he and Coward Fineman were calling it a “lose-lose” for Obama because they were so sure that the ACA would be struck down. I’ve also noticed an absence of media punditry, articles or speculation about the Supreme CT. decision at any time after midday yesterday. I’ve also noticed that in his fundraising speeches yesterday, PBO spoke openly and forcefully about the benefits of the law as if there is no threat to it’s existence in the near future.
So I’m thinking there are two possibilities here:
1. The court’s decision to UPHOLD the ACA has been leaked to media.
2. The court’s decision on the ACA is irrelevant to what is actually going to happen with the ACA, and the media has been made aware of that fact.
Thanks Hopefruit.
Tweety must still be embarrassed about his thrill up his leg. He has really been hard on President Obama. The maligning in the book was bad enough. He really needs to stop it.
Sorry, I didn’t read the book. So let me clean that up. I meant the way Chris Matthews tried to make it appear that JFK was better than President Obama is what got me very upset with him.
Last night Shrum was on the Ed show and said if the supremes overturn ACA that will galvanize Democrats like nothing we have seen before. I agree with him. After Bush v Gore, Citizens united, this would be too much. In Presidential elections, very few people go into a voting booth thinking about SCOTUS, it is just understood that the President nominates judges. If ACA is overturned, that will bring SCOTUS to the forefront. The surpemes will be on everyone’s minds and dems can use that to their advantage to rile up the base. They can put the SCOTUS front and center all the way to election day. It will be a reminder that the gop and rw justices will be happy to take away our rights.
Yes, that’s what he wrote in his article earlier that day (see article posted above).
I will have to finish reading the article. I wish we would see Shrum more often he is one of the best spokespersons for Democrats.
Morning all.
Well Chips, I didn’t move into the 1% so you can throw that picture of me away.
I am confident, though not complacent, of two great victories coming up.
PBO’s in November and collegekay’s at midnight.
She states she is going to tell PBO all about TOD, so I am probably going to have to be careful when you post pictures of FLOTUS. I don’t want him sending the SS after me.
Morning Japa, relieved you’re still part of the 99%! You know, we should probably ask Collegekay not to mention this place if she wins that call, the SS would be so alarmed by the mass outbreaks of lusting they’d arrest half the crew here!
We can use the Jimmy Carter defense—–we’re only lusting in our hearts. (and don’t ask us about our minds and other parts) 🙂
Love that Dotster, a perfect defense!!!
They will see the bestest blog monitor (ME!!!) and walk away reassured.
Ah, okay, I’ll take your reassuring word for it amk!!!
You can ask the TOD’ers how well I managed during your recent cavorting trip to Korea. I ruled with a velvet hand. Have scars to show for it.
That’s right Chips, amk ruled when he was dancing, singing, and swinging from the chandeliers,
How do you think I got those scars ? 🙂
They might have to assign a detail here to monitor the comments. *eagerly* Wonder if we could choose?
I hope that doesn’t mean we will all have to be on our best behavior.
……naaahhhh!
Good morning TOD. Guess we can add another talent to PBO’s resume. “Skateboarder” 😀
😆 Bizarre!!!!!
LOL!
i can see it’s computer generated image but still! He looks good on a skateboard! Maybe PBO should think about this! 😀
I keep getting emails from Van Jones wanting money for his Rebuild America website. This one was touting his new book where he tells us the 7 mistakes grassroots progessives and the President made. Makes me want to bite the computer monitor. I always reply although I’m sure no one reads it. I told him one of those mistakes must have been people like him depressing Dem. voter turn out in the 2010 election and that I was putting my money where it could help the US by reelecting PBO and as many Dems as possible.
“7 mistakes grassroots progessives and the President made” ???
Really? What about one massive fuckup of his wherein he went from a progressive to the laughing stock overnight ?
BOOM! Right in the kisser. Good one amk.
i saw that AMK….sent him an email…about his ARROGANCE!
I saw him as a mixed bag more than trying to depress the 2010 turnout. Even then his effect was minimal. More than anything imo that’s just a problem Dems have always had. 2006 was an aberration because Bush-Cheney-GOP had run everything into the ground. But historically the Democratic base for way too long just does not show up at midterm elections. Republicans do.
Good morning TOD.
My inner red flags when up a long time about about Van Jones. I don’t think he was a supporter of PBO 2-3 years ago and I don’t think he’s one now. I wouldn’t send him a dime!
Boy, does Van Jones have a lot of nerve, mary/1. I haven’t gotten one of these requests, but he would get one angry response from me. Same with anything I get from Carville.
So……I didn’t win the Mega Millions. Guess I have to go back to my day job as Frothy Santorum’s sweater vest.
poor UT – yikes what a job! … I just asked my husband if he’s OK about not being mind-numbingly rich and he sighed and said “no….. 😉
OMG….that’s………….that’s………………OMG. BLECH!

What upsets me is that there is no pushback on this gibberish.
There are so many simple “common sense” (word the Teapug people love to use) responses to this nonsense but the newstainers and Dem pundits don’t smack them down.

Great news.
Up with Chris was really good this morning. They had a comprehensive discussion of ACA. He had doctors, lawyers, legislators and policy wonks who understood the law and even helped craft the law. For 2 hours truth and facts reigned. Prof. Akil Ahmar of Yale Law was particularly wonderful. Now Melissa Harris Perry has a panel of women for her show today and the earth isn’t spewing lava. Imagine that.
The ACA isn’t going anywhere, so we might as well learn the truth about its benefits – something the media failed to do in the last two years.
UT…i did not get to see MHPs program….i had to go out….
but i enjoyed Chris’s program….i esp like the segment in which the doc from Mass talked about having health coaches help folks to manage their health issue….
i remember years ago being part of a community panel that talked how to improve health outcomes…the idea of follow-up from a health coach was one of the ideas mentioned…..
i enjoyed the segment of Chris Hayes programs to talk about the internal workings of the ACA…..
Presssssssssss ON!
GOOD MORNING Chips & TODville! May your Saturday be just the way you want it!
Lovely picture you got there, Elle,. congrats!
Thinking about Shrum’s article and this week, I’ve also remembered when Elena Kagan was confirmed for the SC, and things that were said about her. She is one who has amazing credentials and is known as a persuasive jurist. I am believing that she will be able to talk sense into at least Arthur Kennedy. She has now been on the court for a year, so has been able to work with these people, and establish some cred. I have confidence in Sotomayor and Ginsberg and Breyer too, but somehow, I think Kagan is the strongest and most persuasive. I’m sure she has spent this year building trust with the others. I know the family leave decision went the wrong way, but I have the feeling she is like the president: she chooses her battles, and she knew this one was coming up.
I think Shrum got out all his frustrations and angst in the op-ed this morning.
The op-ed was written yesterday morning – before the Court completed their secret vote. Since then I’ve heard nary a peep from the media on this issue. I’ve only heard articles from certain “liberal” outlets now touting the positives of the ACA. I’m no longer hearing emoprog “we should fight for single payer” memes.
Hopefruit how good an indicator does the secret vote give to the decision in June? I’m not sure I really understand what’s going on.
Hope, please me understand. Did they already vote? If so, why are they waiting until June to here the outcome?
They have to write legal briefs, pro/con, and any justice can change his/her vote between now and the magic day the final ruling is made.
Thanks, Debz!!
This is where Elena Kagan comes in, I believe it was Kennedy who, during the hearings said some of the justices will be taking “long walks with Justice Kagan.”
Didn’t she do some work on the ACA and that’s why so many GOP’ers wanted HER to recruse herself? Maybe that’s why PBO is caustiously opptimistic.
She was Solicitor General and argued ACA before the court.
She can excuse herself when the justices who had lunch with lawyers representing one side of the hearing IN THIS MIDDLE of arguments excuse themselves.
And I would hope that if we start to even get a hint of them protesting her because of this, that we start screaming like stuck pigs. Long, loud and sustained!
Let them try it, I say
It was either Kagan or Sotomayor that was PBO’s mentor in law school. I will try to find a video I had seen of him as Ill Senator doing a talk at a function there. She introduced him and he thanked her for her guidance and support
Funny what a difference a few years can make
off to do chores everybody have a great day! 🙂
Good Morning TOD!
I have a couple of things going today. One of my staff loss her 3 month old baby grand-daughter and the funeral is today. I hate funerals (who doesn’t, right?) but funerals for babies are the worse. After that I have to put in a few hours of work.
Therefore, I won’t be able to push CollegeKay’s fundraiser like I wish and she is at the DNC in DC getting ready to canvass Virginia for voters, volunteers and new people to regisiter to vote. Please share her link everywhere you visit on Facebook, Twitter and with family and friends today.
I’ll push it more when I get home late this afternoon.
Have A Great Productive O’Day Everyone!
I am going to try to embed this video but I don’t know it will work. I just saw it on my knitting website. It’s part of a local news broadcast – maybe in the DC area? A local anchor is making an editorial comment on Trayvon Martin. It is straightforward concise and poignant. It would be great to share with someone who ‘just doesn’t get it’. It may say ‘you must watch this on youtube; please click through if it does. It is well worth it.
Wow. that’s heartbreaking and infuriating that any father has to have that kind of talk with their son. Imagine having to warn your son about a group of people who are supposed to be protecting you.
I have son who is 35 now. We had that talk with him, over and over when he was a pre-teen and a teenager. I still worry about him. He’s a fine, smart, hardworking man, who chooses to wear locks. It’s wrong that he should be judged about his hair even when he’s in a suit. But it happens.
President Obama had 5000 people at his event in Vermont yesterday. Guess half the population of VT said “F work.” This is the kind of Mittmentum Etch-A-Sketch wishes he has.
In his dreams and a MSM trying to remake him. Ha!
And …it was not free…..
But…..But….Tweety told me Mittens was going to kick POTUS’ ass!!! 😀
PTSD Defense Won’t Save Accused Shooter in Afghan Massacre
In short, a defense team would need to prove that Bales was “so detached from reality that he didn’t know right from wrong,” Davis says, and therefore couldn’t appreciate — either before or after committing the alleged murders — the wrongfulness of those actions.
In a civilian court, that’s tough enough. For those tried by military court martial, as Bales will be, two key factors make that defense strategy even harder. First of all, military personnel typically live in close quarters and operate under a rigid hierarchical command — making it tough to sell a jury on the idea that someone with severe mental health problems went unnoticed. “Bales wasn’t out in the woods, letting things fester,” Davis says.
Second, military courts abide by a particularly rigid set of criteria to determine insanity. “A PTSD diagnosis by itself typically is not sufficient to create a defense based on insanity,” says Michael Navarre, a special council for the D.C.-based law firm Steptoe & Johnson and a former Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
The same appears true of traumatic brain injury (TBI), which Bales is reported to have suffered in 2010 and which has been linked to violent behavior in several studies.

They should offer them to the public… I would buy a pair ( but they would have to be solid white )
I would buy one too.
The President and the majority of Democrats would require the Federal Government to “buy american made” everthing…it’s the GOP that will not vote for this. The GOP is ok with sending jobs overseas for corporate profit.
When the Republicans were trying to pass legislation to force the Keystone pipeline, a Democratic senator (maybe Wyden) introduced an amendment that would require all steel for the pipeline would come from the US. Republicans blocked it. It’s my understanding that the steel will come from China.

A win is a win is a win.
Trust me, Iran isn’t coming to the table ebcause of Bibi’s blustering, but because of all that PBO has done to create a true global community, including Russia (our #1geopoloitcal enemy) and China, which is putting a lot of pressure on Iran.
I truly tend to think Iran is not trying to get a nuclear weapon, not would it be the end of the world if they did, but because of our pressure, they will end up opening up their program for the world to see.
I agree it’s not about Bibi. I keep thinking back to the fear that was ginned up re the weapons of mass distruction in Iraq that never materialized and it makes me skeptical when I hear the same argument against Iran. One just never knows, but I take most of this with a grain of salt.
Just to be clear, the grain of salt comment was not referencing them returning to talks, but of the WOMD part of it.
Remarkable sequence of events this week which all got tied together when President Obama announced Friday that we were putting additional sanctions on Iran that will impact their ability to sell oil, and we are able to do so now because oil supplies in the world are high enough for the world to do without Iranian oil.
This week oil dropped $5.00 a barrel and hit as low as $102. A report came out that showed demand markedly weakening, hence the drop in price. The White House has been pushing charts that show how US production has increased under President Obama while consumption has decreased.
Cannot but wonder if this was not all a part of a master plan to pump up production in order to be able to pressure Iran. Smart, forward thinking president.

PM Carpenter articulates what I feel about Keith Olbermann:
“Olbermann, I would think to myself, is better than this. He is manifestly a “good man,” clearly in possession of good intentions, but his on-air persona appears to be approaching a kind of reverse-Oscar Wildean mutation: his core, internal goodness is there, plain to see, but his pursuit of ‘the Cause’ is rendering him hideously self-righteous.”
“In my view, the Cause’s virtues speak for themselves when presented straightforwardly and undramatically; but whether out of a need for greater celebrity or a growing conviction that booming passion trumps quiet reason, Olbermann took the meretriciously theatrical route.”
http://pmcarpenter.blogs.com/p_m_carpenters_commentary/2012/03/the-olbermann-factor.html
Yup, his 24×7 righteousness is what that did him in.
Yep, he started to believe in his own self importance, that he was bigger than the “cause”, they should call it the “The Rush Limbaugh syndrom”. When Rush first started it was all a farse, he even said on many occasions this was just publicity, his persona was NOT real until he drank his own kool aid and became self-important. That’s why Rush is going to fall and fall BIG!
I won’t be surprise if Keith turns up on Fox News in a few years. That’s where most blowhard end up. Liberals do not tolerate this kind of stuff. In fact, we find it quite unappealing. That’s why liberal talk radio is not popular. There just aren’t enough emoprogs out there to keep it afloat.

I do believe that #SCOTUS will uphold ACA, and I believe Kennedy will vote with the liberal judges. I do also believe there is slight chance that Roberts will vote to uphold as well. I hold ZERO FAITH that Alito, Thomas, and Scalia will. But if not….
Maybe we should call it the Koch Brothers- Tea Party Court. This will make it even more important to re-elect President Obama, if that happen.
I’ve been out since 9:15 running errands and shopping. Home now and getting ready to eat lunch and enjoy MHP. After all the good comments, I am looking forward to it.
STREAMING NOW – First Lady attends a fundraiser and the commission of a new Coast Guard Cutter: http://edition.cnn.com/video/flashLive/live.html?stream=4
Thanks JER.
Thanks so much, Jer. FLOTUS is here for a fundraiser last night and this commission of the Stratton today. This was the ship she christened in July 2010. Exciting!!
It’s been pouring rain here.
Thanks JER, let me check out our First Lady.
Thanks, just tuned in and looks like she is giving opening remarks.
Love watching my FLOTUS. Not too shabby being surrounded by goodlooking folks in uniform, even if you have to that in the rain. 🙂
Help! I can’t watch the video where Jim Vance (local DC news anchor, NBC) where he talks about Trayvon Martin. told me to watch on YouTube. I searched for it. There’s lots of Jim Vance videos but not this one. Chips, can you try posting it again?
if this doesn’t work for you, click on the youtube link at the bottom and it will take you there
Thanks, friends. However, can’t watch either one. Both say “embedding disabled by request. Watch on YouTube.”
so watch on youtube? Perhaps you can’t get youtube? In that case I can’t think of any other suggestions -sorry
ha ha ha Great minds think alike. Fools seldom differ. even the timestamp is the same
After I eat, I may try searching for it on NBC4’s website.
Look on the bottom frame of the video. There is a small youtube icon. Click that and it will take you straight to it. Alternatively click on the link that is blocking you, where it says ‘watch on youtube’. both links go directly to the video.
may the force be with you in your quest
LOL!!!!!!
Everyone, if you can donate today, donate. I just gave $20.
FLOTUS raised a lot of money in SF yesterday and also snuck into Chinatown with the girls for a bite to eat:
http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2012/03/30/first-lady-daughters-spotted-eating-dinner-in-sf-chinatown/
Not much footage of them and I can’t seem to find any photos so far.
FLOTUS is speaking now: http://edition.cnn.com/video/flashLive/live.html?stream=4
From that local cbs news reporter, CA donated nearly 13 million donors just last year to the PBO campaign. Go Californians.
California LOVES OUR POTUS and FIRST FAMILY!!
13 million dollars, not donors. Ok, time for the shuteye.
Gunnite folks.
After a busy morning, am at work for the day! Will peek in from time to time, saw some snow mixed in with the rain while doing errands earlier.. Yikes! 🙂
Love the way she said ‘and bring our cutter to life!’ so kewl
is the camera man drunk?
I was just wondering if he was hungover or something. Geeze.
Some people are just lucky. The Md. winning ticket was a quik-pic bought at 7:15 last night and the only tickie bought by the winner.
pre-ordained destiny or pure luck
oh someone did win? in MD? Donna? Donna Dem? 😉
Don’t we wish! LOL
ha! my middle son told me he nearly went to that 7-11 for one of his tickets, but never got there.. he was buying tickets at different stores.. and this time missed that one 🙂 he said the greatest thing about that big pot of mega millions was all the hope it brought to people throughout the week.. everyone dreaming of all they could do w/ that amount of money.
Important News!!!
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-03-30/obama-plans-overhaul-of-student-loan-debt-collector-practices.html
The Obama administration proposed requiring that debt collectors let student-loan borrowers make payments based on what they can afford, rather than on the size of their debt.
The U.S. Education Department, which hires private collectors, said yesterday it would mandate that the companies use a standard form to gather debtors’ income and expenses. If borrowers protest, they would be offered an income-based formula, which can result in payments as low as $50 a month for an unmarried person with $20,000 in income and $20,000 in loans.
expect another round of hyperventilation among the GOP via the punditry. Forewarned is forearmed
Screw them. This is the right thing to do.
ditto
Thanks DF. Just tweeted.
THIS! http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-immigration-residency-20120331,0,1148661.story
WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is proposing to make it easier for illegal immigrants who are immediate family members of American citizens to apply for permanent residency, a move that could affect as many as 1 million of the estimated 11 million immigrants living here illegally.
The new rule, which the Department of Homeland Security will post for public comment Monday, would reduce the time illegal immigrants are separated from their American families while seeking legal status, immigration officials said. Currently, such immigrants must leave the country to apply for a legal visa, often leading to long stints away as they await resolution of their applications.
The proposal is the latest move by the administration to use its executive powers to revise immigration procedures without changing the law. It reflects an effort by President Obama to improve his standing among those Latino voters who feel he has not met his 2008 campaign promise to pursue comprehensive immigration reform.
I disagree that the Administration is doing this for political purposes. He has said for MANY YEARS, that the immigration laws need to be changed in this country. Guess who doesn’t WANT them fixed? We all know the answer to that. They would rather use fear, intimidation and obstruction.
Good afternoon df. How’s things over in desert country?
Hi, yardarm:) Warm today…yesterday was 90…..today is nice…a little breeze. Still waiting on the husband to find a job. Believe me, you all will be the first to know when that day comes…and it WILL COME….just never happens fast enough when you want one badly.
How’s thing’s where you are? Was it Chicago? Heard the trees and flowers are out and blooming:) (but global warming is a hoax)…hope you have a terrific day! Thanks for asking.
It is Chicago and it is indeed green-up time. My grass is already 3 inches high and critters are active.
Thanks again DF. Tweeted.
Worrywart mamma here. Don’t like seeing all those umbrellas surrounding FLOTUS. BACK OFF BIOTCHES!
he he he he
Man, I missed a lot yesterday. So Keith Olbermann got fired from Current TV and he’s planning to sue. I see all the KO-bots on the intertubes are already out in full force defending Olbermann from the “diva” label, but none as I see it are mentioning that VP Gore also agreed to fire Olbermann. It’s funny how they are twisting themselves in knots to bow at KO’s knees without disparaging VP Gore who faux-gressives, liberals and us usual Dems really like way better than KO.
I came to KO late in the 2008 primary season. When he was good he show great but when he was bad, he was over the top Glen Beck style. I stopped watching soon after the election of PBO and when it became known that he didn’t vote. I would catch his show sporadically and when I did, I always regretted that hour that was lost. I just went to DK to see if there are any diaries or even something from Keith himself. Nothing. Now I recall when he did a diary and said he was leaving DK. Can’t remember what the dust up was about but I remember thinking, he can certainly dish it but can’t take a punch. Let me tell you, that diary was full of folks begging him to stay. I am always struck by folks who ANNOUNCE their departure. Such self importance. Get the stepping’ is what I say. Even when he was suspended and eventually canned by MSNBC, there were diaries. As of right now – nothing, nada, crickets. Ha. Perhaps he has finally worn out his welcome.
Interesting. I checked DK yesterday (or whenever the news broke about KO) for the same reason. There was one diary. I skimmed it and the message was the same thing that’s been said here: He can dish it out but not take it…..that he can’t work with people, etc. It was no way a diary in defense of Keith. I was glad that is what I found. Slowly, slowly………maybe DK is becoming more reasonable.
Hi guys,
Do you know if there’s a full version of PBO’s speech in Vermont yestedray? I’d love to see it from start to finish. Thanks, have a great weekend.

Thanks mate meta. 🙂
You’re welcome, my dear. It’s a phenomenal speech and a great crowd. PBO puts his heart and soul into it and it’s worth watching again and again.
Is there a podium slap?
Magnificent! Thank you, meta:)
The president’s Vermont speech is worth the time…it was great!!!
New post everyone:

This is incredulous.
Why is every one picking on Rev Al trying to get him fired.
Martin Case County’s NAACP Chapter Distances Self from Sharpton
Seminole County chapter president of the NAACP Turner Clayton spoke out to put distance between his organization and Sharpton’s inflammatory rhetoric.
Clayton said he believes that the expected 3,000 people who will attend Saturday’s march and rally in Sanford will realize the difference between Sharpton’s message and the NAACP’s mission. “I don’t think they can confuse that,” Clayton said. “It’s just that they will have to make a judgment as to whether they want to follow the mission of the NAACP or follow what the Rev. Sharpton said.”
Todd Schnitt, a national radio host, is calling for Sharpton to be fired by MSNBC.
Nationally syndicated radio host Todd Schnitt is calling for MSNBC to fire their host, the Rev. Al Sharpton, for his attempt at inciting violence. Schnitt has called for Sharpton’s arrest if riots occur.

=================================================================================
In case the NAACP president does not know it. Trayvon’s family ASKED Revs Al and Jackson for help. It is Fox doing the racial divide. I heard on our local radio station even Trayvon’s family attorney was on Fox and let Hannity talk him into admitting it was not racial. We should let Fox and the rabid right wing nut jobs brainwash us into being convinced this killing is not racial; although it has other elements such as the Koch brothers, ALEC, & the NRA in it.
Dr King was murdered marching for justice and civil rights and was never relented . Neither do Revs Al and Jackson.
ha ha ha ha ha…. you must think we are even more stupid than we think you are.
I would say the only thing incredulous here is YOU with your Obama Derangement Syndrome
Aye, aye LunarSea. That bit of bullshit has contaminated this thread.
