    Yes , I am in.
I was having some trouble posting but it seems to be sorted out.
    Morning everyone.

I don’t know (I’m not a techie person) but whenever I tried to post it would say posting and never show up.
That happened for a few days .
Seems to be fixed now , fingers crossed.

Thanks for asking Chips and I must say that we are really glad you are back and in full swing.
The place is not the same without you.

Oh criquet, I’m certain you’re more of a techie person than me – I never have a clue what advice to offer when these annoying things happen. I had a few problems posting stuff yesterday, the glitches returned, so hopefully it’s fixed today – she says nervously. Thanks for keeping trying criquet, you have endless patience.

MITT ROMNEY’S “SEVERELY” LACKING FOREIGN POLICY CHOPS CHALLENGED

    Pushing Back

President Barack Obama’s advisors fire back at Mitt Romney.

    ====================================

We are prepared to engage your advisors on these and other issues. While they were criticizing the president, they have failed to answer the following basic questions about your national security proposals:
    .
    .
    • Why have you not outlined any policies to achieve U.S. objectives and end the war in Afghanistan? How would you change the president’s plan, which has the full support of NATO and our closest allies, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and Australia?

    • What did you mean when you said, “It’s not worth moving heaven and earth spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person,” referring to Osama bin Laden? Given the clear successes of President Obama’s counterterrorism policies, why and how would you change the current approach to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat al Qaeda?

    • Why did you call Russia “without question our number one geopolitical foe,” especially when strategic cooperation with Russia is essential for countering the Iranian nuclear threat? What do you think is gained by casting Russia in this role? Do you believe there are other entities that pose greater challenges to American economic and strategic interests in the 21st century?

Putting his foot in his mouth every chance he gets; telling stories about his father moving jobs. This man has never been fired or laid off, never been hungry or poor. I will vote for the man whose mother had to go on food stamps while she was trying to get herself an education. Been there, done that, so I know.

I’m sure the WH already knew the outcome – even before the arguments began. Do they seem concerned to you?

      • March 30, 2012 at 11:50 am

I wish I was half as optimistic as you are, TBH. This court is so corrupted, it’s downright depressing.

        • 91 hopefruit2
          March 30, 2012 at 12:07 pm

We are thinking in terms of whether or not the court votes against the ACA so from our vantage point, if they vote against it, it means disaster for the American people as well as for PBO.

I suspect the WH has a completely different interpretation of what happens either way, which explains why PBO fast tracked this now and not later, and why they don’t seemed particularly bothered one way or the other. Remember, PBO is a constitutional scholar – a brilliant one at that, and probably has a more profound understanding of these scenarios better than the typical TV “legal analyst.”

          • March 30, 2012 at 12:12 pm

Hell, I am sure his understanding is better than 5 of those justices on the SC. I wonder if someitme in the future we will be talking about a SC headed by Chief Justice Barack Obama.

‘PBO is a constitutional scholar – a brilliant one at that, and probably has a more profound understanding of these scenarios’

Reading that just now triggered the thought – I wonder if that’s precisely why he chose that area of study – to master the Constitution in such a way that he could use it effectively. I doubt there would be too many other politicians, certainly not Republicans, who would have studied its nuances or its potential . I mean, they very often reveal their ignorance when they open their mouths, and I say this as someone who has never read the Constitution.

hopeferuit, you took the words out of my head and wrote them down for me. We have to have faith in a constitutional scholar. He knows what he is doing, that is why he had the case brought to the justices before the election.

It’s clear he meant to say something else, but I think it’s a stretch to “N—“. We can’t be jumping over a stumble that is not clearer than this. We would hate it if Repubs would do that and it just gives them more fodder for “you’re always crying race”. There is plenty of stuff that they do that we can call foul on. Let’s keep our powder dry. I wouldn’t say ignore it if there were of it to here, it’s just really hard to tell.

i just watched it again, and maybe need to change my mind. it’s such a huge stumble and reaction from him, and his following words are completely unrelated to the sentence leading up to the big gaffe. it looks like he was really flustered that he almost let that word slip out. of course maybe, like his “blah people” claim, he’s just a big fan of pakistani soap operas, and simply had this one on his mind…
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigah

and even if he’s irrelevant now, it would be worth tying him and this gaffe to republicans in general since republican voters all over the country are choosing this guy for their #2!

I just had an idea. The Obama campaign should set it up so that a donation can be made in honor of someone who will benefit from Obamacare. I thought of this regarding my 5 year old niece who has juvenile diabetes. She will benefit from insurance companies not being able to deny her coverage for her pre-existing condition. It would be nice to have a link set up that mentions a donation was in made in honor of someone you love who needs Obamacare.

        March 30, 2012 at 12:55 pm

Chips, iIsent a note to OFA so hopefully they will see it. A few minutes ago i was thinking that if SCOTUS does happen to overturn obamacare in June then I think voter turnout will be overwhelmingly HUGE next Nov to re-elect the President. There will be so many people who will then realize what is at stake in this election when they see their hopes of affordable healthcare taken away from them or their loved ones. There will be outrage!

        • March 30, 2012 at 1:06 pm

That’s terrific, lovingandlaughing. I think it was Meta who tweeted Jim Messina about turning ‘Let’s Stay Together’ in to a ringtone – and it happened. It might be worth trying to tweet him too about this, although I know it’s hard to fit it all in to so few words.

I absolutely agree about the ACA, as someone wrote the other day, the GOP should be careful what they wish for. If the Supreme Court throws it out – or, at least the individual mandate – people will suddenly realize what they’ve lost. Good luck to the GOP in November if that happens.

Conservatives still hot over hot-mic story

      By Steve Benen

      ================================

I still don’t see what all the fuss is about. Obama, in Seoul for a nuclear security summit, told Russian President Dmitri Medvedev he’s willing to work on missile defense, but the U.S. will need “space” and “flexibility” outside of an election season. Obama was quietly confirming what we already knew — political environments sometimes restrict foreign policy talks.

So what is it, exactly, Republicans are worked up about? The gist of the argument seems to be that Obama will effectively scuttle Western missile-defense policy once freed from re-election concerns. Fred Kaplan makes a compelling case that the accusations are “totally out of whack with reality.”
      .
      .
Kaplan’s piece goes further, and explains what’s likely if Obama gets a second term, but the bottom line remains the same: the hyperventilating in some corners over this is misplaced. I can appreciate why hot-mic stories have an inherent appeal, but the apoplexy is getting a little silly.

Judge Tosses Out Proposed Missouri Voter ID Constitutional Amendment |

A judge in Missouri vacated the language of a proposed ballot measure backed by Republicans that would amend the state constitution to require voters to present ID. Cole County Circuit Court judge Judge Pat Joyce wrote that the proposed description that would appear on the ballot was “insufficient and unfair.”

Joyce’s ruling was in response to a lawsuit filed by the ACLU of Eastern Missouri and a resident. The General Assembly will now have a chance to revise the language. “We are pleased that the court sent a strong statement that respects the voters of Missouri,” the Fair Elections Legal Network, a voting rights group, said in a statement. “Missourians deserve to know what they are being asked to vote on, particularly when a fundamental right, like the right to vote, is at stake.”

Didn’t know it was Twitter’s special day. Is this one year or two? I know I resisted it for a long time so I guess it’s more than one.

    Let’s try this again:

    Oh so classy:

The Republican governor of Maine won’t be on hand to greet President Obama upon his arrival in Portland later this afternoon. A spokeswoman for Gov. Paul LePage — who has a reputation as a conservative firebrand — tells POLITICO that the governor won’t be in Portland today. During his 2010 campaign for governor, LePage said that his message for President Obama would be, “go to hell.”

Seems I remember that LePage was elected with less than 30% of the vote, because of other candidates…..he is truly a minority governor! I believe he could enhance his standing with voters if he met the President. These governors are shooting themselves in the foot. Mary Fallin, our lame gov in Oklahoma, got no applause for her behavior when the President came. She received only disapproval. Stay classy govs!!

Okay I just listened to that full video of Santorum giving that speech yesterday in Wisconisn where it sounds like he starts to say a racial slur about President Obama.

Well, here is tha actual long version of the speech. Start it around 34:00 minute section of the video. This one I don’t believe has been doctored in anyway so you decide but it sure sounds like he was going “there”. He even pivots his tone in his speech because he catches himself. I am totally disgusted!

Yes, Donna. Did the same. It was not the almost completely uttered ‘nigg ..’ it was the way he instantly caught what was coming out of his mouth and pivoted that both signaled it was not a ‘hacked’ audio file and that he knew he nearly blew it. Well, he did blow it. When folk do stuff like that, it no longer matters what they tell you they think, they’ve already revealed what they really think and the rest is bunk.

Donna, it wasn’t that he almost completed the ‘nigg ..’ it was the instantaneous pivot that informs that he knew how close he came. In that instant, he told everyone just what he really thinks and no amount of spin ever washes that stain from the fabric of human discourse.

The only way to redeem oneself from that type of ‘slip’ is to step forward and either say – ‘Yes, I said it and meant it’ which as offensive as whatever the statement was at least the person had the courage to stick with it. The other is to say ‘Yes, I said it. It’s the way I am and I’m doing everything I can to change. Please give me an opportunity to do so.’

We know Pope Surge I is never going to do either. We also know exactly how he refers to the President of the United States and all people of color whenever he doesn’t think it’s being recorded or being heard by someone who’d not agree with him.

Ron Paul said Santorum was a phony, I say he is a lying racists too. Remember he didn’t say black, he said something like blah. Phont lying racists.

      • March 30, 2012 at 2:32 pm

yes., he mentions race more than once, at least twice in this speech- he seems VERY consumed with race.. and each time he then points at POTUS as dividing us.. I am of the mind that for Santorum- having a black President really is the sole dividing force- it is something I honestly feel this guy cannot get his head around- he’s not just playing a racist on teevee (: for his ‘followers’… he believes in his innate superiority due to that white skin. When he finally gets out of the race- we need to keep an eye on where he goes next.. FOX? Radio? State politics again? Some evil pac/think tank? Whatever, but he’s not going away.

    • March 30, 2012 at 2:26 pm

thanks for posting the whole thing donna. I just listened- for anyone else who doesn’t want to hear all the other folks prior to Santorum.. at about 33:00 he talks about “Barack Obama dividing us” (yeah irony), and at about 34:15 someone yells “we’ll take care of him (it?)” and then at 34:15 is where he dang near says that word.. and I’m not all that certain that it wasn’t intentional. I listened to the whole first part of this speech- up to the N word part.. and frankly this is a person who appears to be very aware of the ‘words’ he chooses. He’s a manipulative SOB – such as when he ‘quotes’ POTUS by stating that Barack Obama READ (not spoke) a speech… and the audience responds.. he knows what he’s saying/doing here… and evidently so does the audience, as someone sure did want us ALL to hear this for ourselves.

I cannot express my feelings about this person, every comment that I want to use is pretty vile.

This guy is sick sum and I am so glad he will be done after August. I hope to never hear his voice again, maybe he will be in such deep debt that he and his wife will need “Obamacare” for their child and they both will have to grovel in public.

Of course it wouldn’t be an event if the media couldn’t find a way to drag PBO into it! 🙂

Lawdhamercy — he’s on everybody’s mind, all the time. 😆

For the first time in my life I bought a lottery ticket for this past Tuesday’s megamillions drawing. Will buy my second tonight. If/when I win, I’m setting up a satellite TOD/OFA/SuperPac office in — where else? — HAWAII, Baby!

PJ, make sure the office is close to the beach and has a house attached or close by, so that those of us who come to help register voters have a place to sleep. 😉 😉
