Hi everyone.
True, I won’t actually be traveling on Air Force One, and no, I won’t be heading for Korea, but apart from that me and the President have a lot in common over the next few days: we’ll be away for a bit. Admittedly, my business is just a little less important. 😕
I’ll be in the air and on the road until Monday evening. I’ll do my very, very, very best to check in on the blog before then, especially to free the good folk stuck in pending thanks to those delightful recent changes made by WordPress, and to start new ‘chat away’ posts.
Completely normal service will be resumed on Monday evening, until then, look after yourselves – and I hope to catch up over the weekend.

haha—I just remembered that “trick” where friends would park away in scattered locations and one car would pick up and deliver, leaving only one car in evidence in driveway, so neighbors would be none the wiser and wouldn’t be able to tattle on the festivities.

Meanwhile, Romney is in Wisconsin feverishly blanketing the airwaves with anti-Santorum ads, outspending Rick by 55 to 1. Now my question is: If Romney knew that he already has this nomination wrapped up, why is he spending so much money to defeat Santorum in a midwestern state?!?!?
So he can claim that he created jobs.
And single-handedly boosted the entire American economy, to claim he has simply tried to make ‘Obama’ look good, as Myth is deeply, truly terrified that he might (as if) win the election…
This is almost a threat – if you ask me. The President is the head of the country, and has done absolutely nothing to be associated with a “sworn American enemy”. The people who have been treasonous and hateful are the ones who should be aligning themselves with the likes of Ahmadinejad, especially Santorum himself – who wants his religion to rule the country, just like the Ayatolla. I detest Santorum completely. This ad should never hit the air – it’s dangerous and it’s not true.

Oh no, and not that again. Despicable. Jeff Greenfield tried that on CNN during ’08 campaign. Put up a split screen of Obama/Ahmadinejad, listed all the reasons they were “just alike”, including that they both wore sportcoats with dress shirts, no tie. It was beyond ridiculous and the height of irresponsibility. CNN got blasted for it. Greenfield was gone from CNN shortly thereafter—–this was when CNN still had a hint of integrity.
GAH.
This is vicious, unethical and uncalled for. It is a cheap, low, unprincipled shot from a loser. It will come back on him so hard, he will hide his face in shame for the rest of his life. He will have earned his humiliation.

I have traveled all of my life a Army Brat and Then in the Airborne for me when it was my turn.In my Family 2 uncles in the Army,1 uncle in the Navy,1 in the Air Force total of 112 years of service for all of us.And we would do it all over again if need be.That is way I love This country so much it has made my family a proud middle class American Family of African Descent. 4 MORE FOR 44

It WAS crazy out there. We drove back from South East AZ yesterday & when we got home I fell on my knees in prayers of gratitude that we got home alive.
Why? Crazy drivers? You know the snowbirds are still here…makes things tricky sometimes…add the traffic, crazies, speeders and red light runners and you SHOULD have kissed the ground! I try NEVER to drive on the freeways.
Crazy drivers & there was a lot more traffic than usual because of Spring break. The RV’s don’t bother me too much. I’m not a speed demon. I agree though, I stay off the freeways & parkways like 101 as much as possible. I’ve lived here so long I know every back way to just about everywhere. Sometimes it’s actually faster and shorter on the surface streets.

I Pray every mile I drive You see with 80,000 pounds under your control going at the speeds on the highway I have a lot of gray hair because all the lives that are around my rig at any given time.I will tell you in you don’t believe in THE GOD ALL MIGHTY just drive a Rig 100 miles and you will get your knees whether you want to or not.So GOD BLESS and enjoy home.

Wes, how do you keep awake with all those miles and miles of asphalt ahead of you? You must have tricks of the trade for keeping your mind focused on the road after all those hours.
Jackiegrumbacher, First I’m sorry it took so late to give you a reply but here goes.I have learned over time when you start your first day out eat very lite drink water and take breaks every 8 hours behind the wheel.You must make your mindset to not think about miles but points you are going to stop at. When you map your run you start with your log book and schedule your stopping points to rest and eat and freshen up.I usually eat mostly fresh salads and fruit salads and one major meal a day. I keep hot potato chips in the sleeper to snack on that hot pepper will open your eyes up when you get drowsy.if you keep munch food near by you will be OK Once your body gets use to the routine it just works.The biggest danger is eating a lot of heavy meals and a lot of sugary items that give a sluggish feeling you will get sleepy then.The sugary base foods will give you a rush then a crash and you get tired. And the most important thing is just stop get out and as you might seen Truckers walk around hitting the tires on the Truck it gives you exercise and fresh air.Also have a great sound system in your Truck to turn up the sound of great music and talking books to listen to.It took a few years to learn that and One Major component A Loving Wife to come Home Too. That last part is the greatest of them all She makes it all worthwhile.

She was one that brought up ALEC today(heard it twice on msnbc)——the Koch boys and NRA and some of our congress people who pushed these “stand your ground” free wheeling, no gun control laws in all these states. They are partially responsible for what happened in Florida. Other than justice in this particular horrific case, I hope that there will be renewed interest/action re. gun control and changes/abolishing these new licenses to kill. The Dems have to stop cowering in the corner shaking with fear of the NRA too. They also share responsibility in allowing this new wild west atmosphere to flourish, to disastrous results, as we’ve seen.
Finney has no fear, and I was very gratified to hear her cite ALEC’s responsibility——I think she must have struck a nerve if she’s getting all this response——a well-deserved strike.
She did strike a nerve & we need to send her support. I’m sick of all this pistol packing and shoot your neighbor laws. I read that Wal-Mart is the largest retail gun seller & they are hand in glove with NRA. Someone needs to muzzle that outfit, pun intended before more people are killed.

My Constitutional Law Professor thinks Roberts will vote in favor of the mandate. That leaves the 2 dissents being Thomas (of course) and Scalia. Let’s hope!

If the mandate is knocked down, it will be interesting how the GOP will handle the outrage from their insurance cohorts and the Chamber of Commerce. They were saying today that even if the mandate is knocked down, it won’t kill the law because the insurance companies will go under unless Congress passes more legislation to somehow force/encourage people to buy insurance. The fact is that the law allows so many subsidies and even some total exemptions, that there’s no way that the GOP can offer anything more affordable – unless they simply say let’s do single payer and ensure everyone gets healthcare paid completely by the Federal Government.
They were also saying on NPR last night that the GOP candidates love to scream about repeal of the law, but none of them have any tangible alternatives to the law, and that’s going to be highlighted next week.
Isn’t the fact that the mandate isn’t severable one of the issues? I thought I heard that if the mandate is struck down, the entire law can be struck down?
I read the commish fined them for this. Honestly, this is such a travesty that just keeps compounding itself.

That is one of the reasons that I urge our family here to make sure that we are keeping a watch on how the Judiciary Committee and most of all how the Senate is moving or NOT moving POB’s nominations through by giving them an immediate up or down vote in the Senate.
I know for a fact how these very important nominations of these judges are impeding the many cases that are standing and waiting to be heard and given a day in court. This is not fair, and it hurts many families and individuals all across this country. It is important to get fair and qualified judges who are nonpartisan on these vacant benches. So let us stay vigilant and keep the pressure on to make sure that the Republicans in the Senate top obstructing justice by continiously holding up POB’s nominations. It hurts our nation as a whole.
Stay on your state Senators, and inform Chairman Leahy of your concerns. He along with my state Senators have been very eager to listen and get things done in my state. However, we all know or have friends, and families ALL across this nation whose lives maybe hanging in the balance because the benches are empty, simply because the Republicans are hating on POB. That is not right, and it is not fair to any city or state.
This is very close to my heart, and I hope that others will join in the cause and make sure we let the Judiciary Committee and above all Majority Leader and Majority Whip in the Senate, Dick Durbin know how we feel about this matter.

Yes, the idea behind it is, IMO. I just can’t bring myself to appreciate satire in this particular situation. At the same time, I don’t want any of my TOD family to share this before noticing that it isn’t real. Sharing it with wide open eyes is okay by me.
Some stores doesn’t give receipts. I have been to plenty convenience stores who do not give receipts specially when I am just buying a piece of candy or soda. They will even ask me if I want a receipt and I would say no thanks. The only place you get a receipt every time is the Super Market. That sorry ass police chief should be fired for going on FOX running his mouth, but that Norton Bonaparte doesn’t have the guts too. I listened to a really good interview on NPR this morning on the Madeleine Brand Show. She was interviewing a man, James Peterson (Director of Africana Studies and LeHigh University), who was just a breath of fresh air and a voice of reason. He talked about the Trayvon Martin case, the comments from the President this morning and why he had to be guarded in his words, and also about race and the delicate way the President has to deal with anything associated with race – including the criticism from the Cornell West brigade. He was really good. I’m looking for his twitter info to send him a thank you message. Here’s the eight minute podcast segment below:

Hi Theo. I’m checking in late, and checking out soon. I listened to that audio, and it was helpful. But, Mr. Patterson contradicted himself a few times in that he understands what PBO has to be mindful of, but that he, Mr. Patterson, wishes PBO would speak out more about racial matters. Duh !! Also, he stated that PBO was a bit late in commenting on the case, yet his own justice department is handling it, so PBO cannot say much which would compromise the investigation. I have so had it with people who say they understand PBO’s dilemma regarding race, yet want him to step into the fray anyway. It’s as if they actually need PBO to soothe their wounded pride as black people, when they themselves should carry their own burdens. I carry mine, and I do not need the President to speak for me as a black woman. Nothing he could say would alleviate the hatred in this country in the supposed hearts of bigots. He can only do as he has been, and that is to work for the good of all Americans, and for those who do not appreciate his efforts in fulfilling his duties, fuck ’em is my now favorite saying. Earlier today I went to the LA OFA HQ where the Honorable Hilda Solis, our current Secretary of Labor, paid a visit!. There were only approximately 20 people in attendance, including the OFA campaign staff. What a thrill and an honor to be able to meet and talk to her in such an informal and intimate setting. We basically all stood around in a circle with her (I was two people away from her) in the reception area of the OFA office. She is petite but a dynamo. She looks you directly in the eye and speaks plainly and with common sense. When she arrived, the staff brought out a red velvet birthday cake and we sang Happy Birthday for the 2nd anniversary of the ACA.
She thanked everyone for supporting the president and stressed the need to get everyone involved in his re-election campaign because we cannot afford to roll back any of the initiatives that PBO has accomplished and that he still has more he wants and needs to do for the American people for the economy, education, healthcare, more creation of quality jobs and leveling the playing field for all citizens. The ACA and the benefits particularly to women and families is going to be a major messaging focus of the campaign. Polls they did in November 2011, indicated that after positive messaging about ACA, 92% of democratic voters polled were in support of it, 73% of independents polled supported it, 74% of “undecideds” polled supported of it.
After Secretary Solis spoke, I got to shake her hand and thank her for work and particularly her work with FLOTUS Joining Forces and getting returning vets back to work. She seemed very down to earth and earnest, attributes that seem to come across in all of the peope that make up PBO’s admin, in my humble opinion. I did take quite a few pictures, but have no idea how to get them on here without Chip’s masterful skills.
Also Tien Le, I told one of the fied directors there about your ACA “pocket card” and forwarded the link to her as well. They may come in handy with some of the “one on one” conversations they’re gearing up to do, particuarly in the swing states. Spoke to a few other people there about the wondrousness that is TOD and then promptly cleaned the OFA store out of their entire inventory of BO(the Dog) for Barak 2012 pins. They are too cute!

This is what worried me about the President’s second term. Even if we get back the House and keep the Senate, the Dems are so good at defeating themselves that they may be more trouble than the Republicans. Whomever came up with the saying, “Dems know how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory” really knew what they were talking about. We don’t hear from Dems in any type of support – we only hear from them when they’re trying to knock the President’s legs out from under him. They make me furious!
Even if Cordoza was thinking this, he should have kept it to himself. We love to eat our own. Is he up for re-election any time soon? What does he expect to gain from this?

PBO departs for Seoul tonight at 11:45 Eastern and arrives Sunday morning, local time.

My sense of the G.O.P. party is that they fear president Obama a lot. To save the party , they have to destroy president Obama by lying about him.
I think this is a psychological thing, because they use the same fear they have, to destroy him. The lie and the hate about this president is everyday and everytime and it won’t work at the general election. People in the world in general and American people more specifically know who this president is. People like this man !!
To lie everytime and everyday about this president ,what they think wil destroy him and to save The G.O.P. party, will not work.
The G.O.P. is a self desructive party and I am glad about that, only because off their bad policies.
It’s been hard to find a schedule on when President Obama arrives and spends his first day in South Korea. He arrives on Sunday there, but it will still be Saturday here. Lynn Sweet, bless her heart, has the official schedule from the White House. Korea is 13 hours ahead of ET. When he arrives 6:35 am there, it will be 3:35 pm ET Saturday. Nobody except Lynn ever seems to be able to figure out the time difference and she gets it right because she copies it exactly.
