If an etch-a-sketch kerfluffle is going to throw Romney off, what on earth would he do in a real crisis. It’s astonishing to think a man could reach the ripe age of 65 and have the gall to run for president when he can’t take the slightest heat, criticism or teasing. He’s got plenty of money to build himself cocoons in several states and off shore islands. He could go to anyone of these and never have to deal with the trials and tribulations of real life again. And he could even hire a staff to feed his ego, which seems to be the only reason he wants to be president anyway. Retire to a cocoon, Willard. You’ll be happier and so will we.

I totally disagree. She had a wonderful show. Her piece about Romney is one for the books. Travyon’s story filled almost the entire hour of Ed and Lawrence, not to mention Rev Al. I’m glad Rachel dedicated most of ther show to destroy the Republicans.

My opinion, the story she did on Mitt Romney was worth it. Rarely do we hear the media come out and call Romney what he is, but Rachel did that tonight. The reporters knows when Romney is lying but they refuse to bring it to his face, they let him get away with it, but tonight Rachel call Mitt what he is, a bold face liar. And time and time again we see how he lies and how it doesn’t bother him that he is lying. Bravo to Rachel tonight. She did a great job.

Have to second your comments about the notclassy governor and other state officials who are not here to greet the president….our Gov Mary Fallin, or Failin is “on vacation in Puerto Rico” can’t be here……the Lt Gov is in D.C…..the Daily Oklahoman, our far right rag reported that “They didn’t have official word the President was coming, so didn’t know to stay” And….who believes that!!! This White House plans ahead. Yes, this is the state where the President didn’t win one county in 2008. We bleed red, it is awful! We have little oases in the state….our church for one…but the bigotry and blindness are unbelievable.
I was quite worried about the weather around 6:00, but it’s now 9:30…..when he is due in to Tinker Air Force Base, and it is calm. The local TV stations are quite excited about this, however, even if the state officers and the newspaper owner are not. There have been statements on TV from the oil people that they need to “school” this president on energy…..AS IF!!!
The Democrats are forming a caravan from OKC to Cushing for his speech. There actually ARE very strong supporters here in the state, in spite of the newspaper and state politicians. I always admire him so much, taking the message where he knows he’s not loved…..he’s Daniel in the lion’s den here, and we know who won that one!!!!

As Media Matters reported earlier, Florida’s “stand your ground” law is nearly identical to the ALEC Castle Doctrine Act.

    From the Florida law:

    (3) A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.

    And from the ALEC model:

    (3) A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another, or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.

Florida Senator Durell Peadon, an ALEC member, introduced the law in his state and it passed in early 2005; the NRA was behind the bill and its lobbyist Marion Hammer reportedly “stared down legislators as they voted.” After Governor Jeb Bush signed it into law, Hammer presented the bill to ALEC’s Criminal Justice Task Force (now known as the Public Safety and Elections Task Force) months later.

As the Center for Media and Democracy has uncovered, the NRA boasted that “[h]er talk was well-received,” and the corporations and state legislators on the Task Force voted unanimously to approve the bill as an ALEC model. As CMD and Common Cause have noted, ALEC Task Force meetings are closed to the press and public, but corporations and ideological special interests or trade groups like the NRA vote as equals with elected officials. At the time, as CMD has documented, Wal-Mart was the corporate co-chair of the Task Force. Since becoming an ALEC model, 16 states have passed laws that contain provisions identical or similar to the ALEC “Castle Doctrine Act.” In 2007 it was passed in four states and highlighted by ALEC on their “legislative scorecard,” as discovered by Common Cause.

Did you guys see that train wreck interview of Republican Congresswoman Cathy McMorris-Rodgers on Hardball tonight? You really have to see the interview to believe how dishonest she is. The topic that Tweety was covering is the Republican Party War On Women. McMorris-Rodgers claimed that the Republicans were focused on the economy and jobs and the Democrats were scaring women. When she wasn’t saying that, she was tongue tied trying to filibuster and avoid answering the questions about the GOP legislation against women’s rights. She really had nothing to work with. It was pathetic.

Angry Black Lady rips her to shreds. Her ears must be burning big time.

I think the Canadian Air Force are here because of AWACS. They fly with us on some of those missions. The President was greeted by the mayors of Oklahoma City and Midwest City (where Tinker is located) then his motorcade drove into OKC…..about 15 miles. The Thunder was playing tonight, so a lot of people are downtown. The news showed the crowds lining up to see the motorcade, hoping to get a glimpse of the President. A LOT of young people!!! Last I heard , the news people didn’t know exactly what hotel he is staying in, but think it is the Sheraton right in the middle of downtown. They showed barricades, OKC Swat team vehicles, canine teams….all the security stuff. As you know with Tinker here, there is a large Air Force Security contingent too…..so he’ll be taken care of!
Our governor isn’t bright, and her reputation when she was lt. gov. was, shall I say, less than wholesome.

The University of North Carolina wants to distance itself from Rush Limbaugh.

The school’s athletic department has asked radio stations not to promote Limbaugh’s show during Tar Heel sports broadcasts and not to promote Tar Heel sports during Limbaugh’s show, according to a school news site.

The home of the Tar Heels — President Obama’s pick to win the NCAA Tournament — will continue to honor contracts with radio stations allowing them to broadcast games. At least one station has agreed to the programming changes.

“A lot of our faculty and some other folks outside of the University were upset to find out that we were connected with ‘Rush Radio,’” UNC Chancellor Holden Thorp told Carolina Connection, a student radio newsmagazine.

Dozens of advertisers have already pulled out of Limbaugh’s show since he called a Georgetown law student a “slut” and a “prostitute” after she testified about contraception on Capitol Hill.

“We do understand why people are upset,” Thorp said. “Those were offensive and inappropriate comments.”

Just watched RM, what is funny with the type of lying Romney does is that he would end up hurting America in the future if he was elected IMO…in-terms of building relationships with the International community. How could the international community trust someone that would lie to his own people with such ease just to obtain power.

If he would lie like this…its about character not politics…Just look at how the International Leaders describe
President Obama…look at how he has been able to get other countries on board regarding sanctions against
Iran. Lol, now think Romney…sorry for the image in advance, but Romney is scary.

Good point. Not only that, but other countries leaders would then have to wonder if HE’S LYING TO THEM. His word is NOT his bond…he changes his positions by the minute…and has selective memory about what he DID say. He’s a mess.

A couple good lines from dkos tonight:

“Paul Ryan is the closest thing George W. Bush has to a younger, dumber clone, but he’s looked at as the Republican’s economic messiah. (Apparently, not being able to do basic math is the conservative equivalent of turning water into wine.)

“No, I think Mitt Romney is exactly what the Republicans are after this election cycle. The social conservatives might not like it, and the base may put up a mighty fight, but the true money is behind the pliable, generic-sounding guy with a dollar sign where his heart should be. The Republican Party is, more than anything else, pissed off at the damn kids with asthma and the damn seniors demanding medical care and the damn government demanding the same damn taxes that everyone used to pay a mere twenty or thirty years ago, all of whom are pitted against the true Masters of the Universe, i.e. the people with all the money and most of the power, and they are out for blood. “

Holy shit, when you can’t even get the Club for Growth behind you:

“The conservative Club for Growth on Wednesday came out against the new House Republican budget proposal authored by Rep Paul Ryan (R-Wis.). […]

“Despite containing several important reforms and pro-growth policies, the Ryan Budget falls short in two critical respects. First, it does not balance for decades. Secondly, it violates the Budget Control Act by waiving the sequester,” said Club for Growth President Chris Chocola. […]

“By waiving the automatic spending cuts required under the Budget Control Act, this budget is asking Americans to trust future Congresses to do the hard work later. It is hard to have confidence that our long-term fiscal challenges will be met responsibly when the same Congress that passed the Budget Control Act wants to ignore it less than one year later. On balance, the Ryan Budget is a disappointment for fiscal conservatives,” Chocola said.”

PLEASE, PLEASE someone give me a reality check! Did Romney’s spokesman this very day describe Willard Romney as an “Etch-a-Sketch” that can just be shaken up, leaving a fresh canvas upon which, one assumes, Willard 2.0, version XOC1.36 ‘module candidate plug-in G1N2’ can be drawn up from scratch?

Did this actually happen, or did I just imagine this because I am prone to wishful thinking went a little too long before getting my meds refilled?

LISTEN: I’ve never worked for a campaign in my life. But wouldn’t the proper response to the question had been something like: “Oh no, Mitt hasn’t been dragged anywhere, but rather has been leading the entire GOP field in putting forth ideas and a vision for this country that we believe will resonate with voters come November.” Ya know, maybe thrown in some “center right country” crap for good measure, call it a day and in no time your back at the GOP Lair, sipping brandy with David Brooks quicker than you can say “Burkean restraint!”

But then again what do I know? I’m not a paid Romney operative, so yeah….”Etch-a-Sketch”. Go with that.

God I can’t wait for the general election to start. President Obama is going to figuratively rip Willard’s face off and see what kind of Rube Golberg device or Keebler Elf coven is actually running the Willard Romney.

My money is on Keebler Elves using Rube Goldberg technology that they reverse engineered from the the dangerously large tumor that is New Gingrich’s head. A head so large and self important that it signs itself into hotels as “Melon Magellan”.

That is all. Today was a good day, and I didn’t even have to use my AK.

Speaking on the House floor, Pelosi called on her colleagues to remember “what our founders put forth in our founding documents, which is life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And that is exactly what the Affordable Care Act helps to guarantee.”

TOULOUSE, France (Reuters) – A 23-year-old gunman suspected of killing seven people in southwestern France in the name of al Qaeda, jumped from a window to his death in a hail of bullets after police stormed his apartment on Thursday.

“At the moment when a video probe was sent into the bathroom, the killer came out of the bathroom, firing with extreme violence,” Interior Minister Claude Gueant said, adding that Merah was firing several guns at once.

“In the end, Mohamed Merah jumped from the window with his gun in his hand, continuing to fire. He was found dead on the ground,” he told reporters at the scene. Two police commandos were wounded.

Special forces entered the five-storey building in a suburb of Toulouse after besieging Merah since early on Wednesday.

He will pick Rubio. that’s my prediction. In hopes of peeling off some of the Latino vote and of course, put FL in play. Plus, he’s enough of a raving conservative to please the RWNJ base.

The same rationale as Game Change, except Rubio probably knows where Germany is on a map and knows that the Prime Minister is head of the British government.

      It’s gonna be Rubio.

          March 22, 2012 at 9:39 am

You expect them to actually think things through?

Rubio’s a brown guy. that should attract all brown people, right? We’ve been down this road, in 2008.

Floridians will vote for their favorite son. Until the Obama campaign shines a light on this loon’s record which now includes the stand your ground law.

      • March 22, 2012 at 9:26 am

Why exactly would Rubio want to be on a Romney ticket? He can stay in Senate, maybe be re-elected again and then come back at the top of the ticket in either 2016, if POTUS or 2020 if God forbid the GOP wins.

At least with Bob McDonnell of VA, he is term-limited as governor of VA. With Chris Christie he may not believe he will be re-elected as governor of NJ even though I would bet that NJ like him just fine, no matter what they say, it’s have to be Bruce Sprinsteen himself to run agiainst Christie for him to lose, IMHO.

Seriously all those saying he will choose Rubio, what is in it for Rubio?

        • 227 57andfemale
          March 22, 2012 at 9:46 am

he’s been positioning himself to be on the ticket. He’s cleaning up his record, polishing his personal narrative of late. All the signals that he wants to be on the ticket. This is the kind of ambition he has — he has no interest in governing, just ambitious. Nothing gets you closer to the Presidency than being V.P.

McDonnell accomplishes many of the same things that Rubio allegedly does: it’s a swing state. I would bet that they’d opt for the ‘brown’ guy over McDonnell, but then again they’ve been completely tone deaf so far, so why should they change now?

Christie’s a non-starter. He’s a lightning rod that will bite them in the ass and they don’t need a NE guy.
