Apparently not Malia or Grandmom Robinson. Red coat, umbrella lady looks more official or secret service-like, especially since she’s walking in a different direction in the next picture. Plus, the way she’s carrying that umbrella, I wouldn’t want to mess with her!! 😯

If she is SS, she is doing a fantastic job of appearing to not be with the detail, bless her for that! If she is unordinary citizen, would the SS let her get that close?

She’s probably part of the SS – but a decoy. They have those types who are dressed to look like ordinary folks in the crowd – but are in fact SS agents…

I have seen some who I believe to be decoys when PBO is giving his speeches – they tend to be in the middle of the crowd and look just like the rest of crowd except their facial expressions and body language are a bit more “serious” than the rest.

I can’t tell if that’s Malia. Kinda whacky camera angle. All I see if ‘legs’ But you figure she’s probably not that far away… Or maybe she stayed home with Grandma. That would be cool too.

When they are all four together, they always walk abreast, sharing the love, being in the joy of togetherness… See in the second pic, the woman with the red coat and umbrella is walking across the back… Is she SS? Wouldn’t want to mess with that umbrella!

Sasha is growing, you know she is playing basketball ball and wouldn’t it be nice if she were to get a scholarship to college to play basketball, her Daddy’s favorite sport. When is Sasha’s birthday? I know Malia is July 4th, she will be 14. And Sasha will be 11 on her next birthday.

Sasha is adorable. Just adorable. I’m so glad that they have let them be girls. Not dressing them like grown women. And clue on where they went to church? If I recall, there is a church across the street from the White House that they have attended frequently.

They are even sensitive about that. I remember PBO saying that he wanted to attend church but didn’t like that his attendance made such a disturbance for the other church-goers.

Reposting because this is so important. I have not heard any reporting on this GOP sleight of hand in their bogus “JOBS ACT”. This is what the GOP has always done. They give legislation reasonable sounding names that are full of nothing but poison pills and sabotage. Thankfully, Senator Carl Levin is trying to rectify the damage with the “INVEST ACT”. The mainstream media continues to look the other way.

THE GOP “JOBS ACT” IS NOT A JOBS ACT (CARL LEVIN “INVEST ACT” IS THE WAY TO GO)

Contact your senators and make your voice heard.

Background on the INVEST In America Act

    Thursday, March 15, 2012

Read Sen. Levin’s Senate floor speech on the INVEST in America Act.

    =================================

Legislation passed by the House that supporters say is designed to create jobs would strip away important protections and put the stability of the economy and our financial markets at risk. The INVEST in America Act, introduced by Sens. Reed, Landrieu and Levin would repair the House bills flaws. Below is background information on the INVEST in America Act and information on the building wave of concern over the provisions of the House-passed legislation.

My goodness Sasha is at her mom’s shoulder. FLOTUS is 5’11 so Sasha is probably already 5’5 or 5’6 and she’s only 10 years old! I can remember Reggie Love warning us in that interview just before leaving the WH that the girls were huge(in a tall sort of way). Having both a mom and dad that are quite tall these girls were bound to be statuesque. I feel so bad for President Obama he is going to have a time fending off the boys. 🙂

    • March 18, 2012 at 11:48 am

I was just thinking how he must feel when his little girls enter the room, all dressed up and looking so mature and beautiful. Proud but probably with a large pinch of sentiment about how fast they are growing up. Thank goodness he has them by his side every day. I remember reading during the campaign how, at a private fundraiser, he broke into tears talking about how much he missed them.

Exactly. Children period can be a full time job. I had two girls and one boy. The girls gave me fits. Especially the boys always hanging around. I don’t know how the President does it. In one hand your family, in the other the world. Wheeew.

      • March 18, 2012 at 12:39 pm

I don’t think so. They seem like really well-grounded, heads on straight, kind of girls. My 3 daughters didn’t give us any major probs when they were teenagers—-just the usual stuff, looking out the window hoping that the next car was them getting home safely.

OMG – You mean Sasha could be taller than me??? Wow can’t believe how much she’s grown!! Sasha is such a cutie, and looks like she is growing to be as beautiful as her mother 🙂

I’d give anything to be her height 😀 😀 😀 Sigh at 5’0 even 3 inches would have been appreciated!!!

    • 65 CEB
      March 18, 2012 at 11:52 am

Like most dads it is hard for him to see his little girls grow into young women. Michelle said he gulps when he sees Malia all dressed up. Poor Daddy; but they still spoil him (he told one ofthe dinner winners that girls look after their daddies) and are still willing to hold hands in public and to sit on their laps.

      • March 18, 2012 at 12:45 pm

I still do that too. It’s a natural protective reaction. And my daughters are all grown and married. And I still can have a moment of panic when shopping if I lose sight of whichever one I’m shopping with. I will yell out their name. Katy! Katy! Katy can’t believe it. Exasperated, she’ll say, ” Mom, I’m not getting kidnapped. I was just in the shoe dept.”

    GEORGE CLOONEY IS A TREASURE

George Clooney on Sudan: ‘It Gets in Your Bloodstream’

    By: Larisa Epatko

    ===============================================

With violence putting people in the Nuba Mountains region of Sudan in peril, actor and human rights activist George Clooney said Wednesday in an interview with the NewsHour’s Judy Woodruff that it was only right to bring attention to the area.

Clooney has visited Sudan multiple times over the years and met with the people there. “It gets in your bloodstream and you have a responsibility to them,” he told Woodruff after testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Okay, that is all the time I have for now, it has been lovely, off to work. BUT, before I hasten away, Yardarm posted an hysterically funny piece at the end of the rise and shine thread, absolutely a must read… Am trying to get him to admit whether he is Mr. Harris…. Yardarm?

    • 85 yardarm756
      March 18, 2012 at 12:11 pm

Here is the piece you were talking about and no I’m not Mr. Harris. 😉

      RETIRED/BORED HUSBAND

After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target.

Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women – she loves to browse.

Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Target:

      Dear Mrs. Harris,

Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behaviour and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Harris, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras:

      1. June 15: He took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people’s carts when they weren’t looking.

      2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.

      3. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women’s restroom.

      4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, ‘Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away’. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money.

      5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway

      6. August 14: Moved a ‘CAUTION – WET FLOOR’ sign to a carpeted area.

      7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he’d invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged.

      8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, ‘Why can’t you people just leave me alone?’ EMTs were called.

9.. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

      10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.

      11. October 3: Darted around the Store suspiciously while loudly humming the ‘ Mission Impossible’ theme.

      12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his ‘Madonna look’ by using different sizes of funnels on his chest.

      13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, he yelled ‘PICK ME! PICK ME!’

      14. October 22: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a
fetal position and screamed ‘OHNO! IT’S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!’

      15. Took a box of condoms to the check out clerk and asked where the fitting room was?

      And last, but not least:

      16. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, ‘Hey! There’s no toilet paper in here.’

One of the clerks passed out.

McCain is only concerned that Newt and Santorum are being mean to Mittens. He doesn’t care that it’s his chosen candidate whose super Pac is the most negative ever. And if I recall correctly McCain was against the Dems bill to make super Pacs publish the names of their donors.

    • March 18, 2012 at 1:09 pm

      March 18, 2012 at 1:33 pm

Get a clue, McCain: you helped to start it by picking the incompetent tea party darling as your running mate and defending her as recently as a few weeks ago. and I have yet to hear you since your loss to PBO speak out to defend at least the office of the Presidency. You have treated the current President with disdain and have not made an effort to return your party to moderation and decency.

So you, sir, are in big part responsible. Be a man and at least admit it.

    Good Day Chips & Tods…
Nice to see our beautiful first family…They are just Beautiful!!

On other news: I am so sad and quite angry about Trayvon senseless death…and more pissed that Ronald Martin wants to make it all about PBO. Last night He went to say..”That if this was PBO at 17 walking, “suspicious” and they took his life, we wouldn’t have made history today” something to that effect, you can see his twitter for exact quote, I shot a twitter back to him..Saying, that first of all PBO at 17 was probably safer than as President, as he gets 400 death threats a day..plus a few hundreds serving time in trying to take him out. Kasai I feel you.

I also shot him a tweet and told him in short no person with a working brain cell would advise the president to go out and condemn the shooting of this young man before the DOJ comes forward with their official findings.

Any defense lawyer would call these findings biased because the president has already determined that Zimmerman was guilty. When the president spoke up in the Professor Gates’s case, he afterward received backlash from all sides becasue the case had not been fully investigated.

Roland is one simple minded idiot…and as someone put it on twitter, the president is not an activist, but POTUS.

Kasai, while I was reading your comments, my heart got full and I wanted just to be near you and give you a(((((((((Hug)))))))). I understand your comments, but be assured that you spoke the truth, and I appreciate you sharing that with your family here. We must listen to each other and try to find a way to help each one move wiith the joy that God has placed in the day for you to enjoy and be a part of.

It is so sad to see that Roland can’t rise above his own failings of trying to place the load on POB again. Roland has the opportunity to speak to millions as well. Why he chooses to attack POB with his words, rather than find comforting words to express to this young man’s family at a very difficult time as this is beyond me. Minister where you are, Roland Martin. Not tear down the good. POB is the POTUS, and he is not the Savior of the world, Mr. Roland Martin.

So Kasai, take courage, do what you feel in your heart to make some healing sense out of these words that have wounded your heart that Roland Martin has uttered before the entire world. Then take comfort in your heart that your actions will carry a loving messsage to this family becuase you have chosen to not tear down during this diifficult time in this beautiful young man’s life, but to build up this family with words that will speak truth, compassion, comfort, and peace in a very difficult time for them and for so many other families.

Roland is blaming POB, and we know that is NOT right, and that is why you and all of us are hurt and rightly so. POB can’t not heal the entire nation of it many, many, wounds, he is not God. But he does and always tries to bring comfort in his own way. So we will continue to pray that POB will always seek wisdom in all that he does and speaks.

We do not know who he prayed for as he attended church this morning. Maybe for his own nation, maybe for the young children, men and women in Sudan who are being mistreated and for those like George Clooney, Martin L. King, lll, Clooney’s dad, Ben Jealous and all who were arrested for a cause that is so worthy. Maybe he prayed for wisdom in making tough decisions concerning the war;,and the safety of all men and women who are fighting. Maybe he prayed for the lives that were taken in that awful shooting in Afgan. and the young man who is accused of acting in that particular situation; maybe he prayed for his own safety, and his family’s; maybe he prayed for the ugly treatment that we practice daily in our own nation against him and others. Maybe he prayed for healing in our nation. And maybe he prayed for the families who are living from pay check to pay check, and maybe he prayed for the seniors who can’t afford heat where it is cold this morning, or maybe he prayed for the greed that controls our instutions in Washington to make decisions that displaces families onto the streets all across this nation. In any case, I believe that He Prayed.

We were not in his head as he sat there and prayed. Maybe he prayed for his enemies, Lord knows he has so many as we can see daily from their actions. But I am sure, he prayed for goodness sake, wisdom, compassion, pure thoughts, guidance, peace, and love to all mankind. POB is doing his part, and I wonder how Mr. Martin can pass judgement on POB ,when we are told not to judge, and yes in this case, it is judging POB. Maybe Mr. Martin could have done us a beautiful and more peaceful favor, if he had written a prayer for our President. Oh, yes, being from a “Minster’s background “as he constantly reminds us. We are to pray for one another, if that is your faith.
And more importantly, we are toldd to pray for our leaders. Read. I Tim. 2. And it tells us why.

So my dear Kasai, you did the right thing this morning, you brought a concern to your family, and you gave all of us something to think about, pray about, meditate upon, and hold you up in our thoughts of good energy to be comforted in your spirit. Thanks for taking a stand for what is right and good. Also remember this: “Welcome Joy Into Your Home as a Permanent Resident.” Osteen.

Also, let us light a candle for this young man’s family and ask for justice to run down like a river in his case and so many others that we know are taking place at this very moment. That is our cause, and we will answer it as each of us feel in our heart to do so. You have done yours today, and may God’s blessing be upon you, my dear one. You have shown the ‘better angel’ in this. Thanks for reminding us to be supportive of each other and to surely be supportive of POB. ((((((((((((((((((((Be gentle to your spirit, Kasai))))))))))))))))HZ

      March 18, 2012 at 1:45 pm

First off, POTUS & FLOTUS certainly ‘get it’. in a 2009 interview FLOTUS was asked about all the death threats etc and how it felt. She responded (paraphrasing) that as a young black man in America, everytime he steps out the door he faces threats against his safety. She even said/hinted that this is not just from thugs and crazies but from law enforcement as well. She said that with the SS around him now, it’s the safest he’s ever felt.

Has anyone noticed how every time something happens to upset our sense of fairness, safety or fair play people start screaming for PBO to soothe their fears and anger. Every. Single. Group. has done it. Pick any issue and check out the public response. It’s been non-stop. I don’t know how he handles it. And yes, it’s happened on this blog also. Right or wrong, with us or against us, it’s the same with every incident.

I think I’ll go light a candle for him.

Roland should actually call himself out, because he is late to this news. HLN Vinnie Politan
has been trying to draw attention to this for over a week a bit, promise to stay with the story until
the guy was arrested… Vinnie interviewed the parents and featured the story everyday at around 6pm, Vinnie dug into the shooters background found out he is alone wolf, and is a one man neighbourhood watch. So Roland is no hero

      Hi kasai,

I know what you’re mean and saying, but let’s be careful when we say that PBO heard about the Kony killings from Malia. He actually said he heard about the “Kony video” (that has gone viral) from Malia. He knew about the killings for awhile since he sent approximately 100 troops to that area last October to advise or train (I can’t remember which one) to try to capture Kony. I only say this because there has been some comments on YouTube and other places that are pretty much calling the President a liar or incompetent that he heard about Kony from his daughter — not understanding that he’s talking about the video not the situation. As some of us may recall, Rush made a big deal about PBO sending troops to hunt down the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army and said this was another instance of the President being against Christians. Poor, stupid Rush didn’t do his homework, as usual, and didn’t know what the LRA was all about.

I also agree with you about Malia, I see great things in her future!

Adding him to my prayer list Tally!

Hey, I shared a first with my nephew yesterday when he and I went to see both the first men’s professional soccer match for either of us yesterday. The Atlanta Silverbacks played Mercer University to a draw in their prep for an away today match against the U.S. Men’s National Team.

I was just giddy watching his excitement over seeing “real” players do their thing. It was sad to see the low turnout, and only a few of the spectators seemed to be that much into the game. But the sun was out and the breeze was soothing.

I kept thinking, man they need a pep team (at least an emcee with some music) and definitely some PR. The nephew and I did what we could to cheer on the players though. There were a few people there (and particularly some young people) who you could tell really love the game. Yesterday’s game was actually free, since it wasn’t a regular league match, so that might’ve contributed to the lackluster crowd. Nephew was thrilled to walk away with an autographed poster and a t-shirt and I was on cloud nine at how the whole experience just lit him up. I’m looking forward to going again soon.

Holder emerges as sharp, vocal opponent of voter ID laws
    http://www.thegrio.com/politics/holder-emerges-as-sharp-vocal-opponent-of-voter-id-laws.php

[article and video of extended interview]

Attorney General Eric Holder is sharply criticizing the expansion of laws that would require photo identification to vote, blasting them as “unnecessary” and arguing that proponents of the provisions are citing a voter fraud problem that “does not exist” in America.

In an interview with NBC News’ Pete Williams this week, Holder continued his aggressive advocacy against the laws, which are already on the books in more than 15 states, and are being considered by numerous others. Using its power under the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Justice Department has invalidated laws in South Carolina and Texas that would mandate voters present photo identification to vote…

    • 195 jackiegrumbacher
      March 18, 2012 at 4:18 pm

Holder needs to do more than speak on this issue. All of these new laws violate HAVA, which mandates the range of ID requirements a state can impose for voter registration. These states are overriding a federal law and I want to know why that’s legal. These state laws should all be titled Preventing America from Voting Acts. I don’t know how the Justice Department works, but could they join in suits by state groups against the voter suppression laws? All kinds of groups can submit briefs in support of the federal government. Why can’t the federal government join in suing a state? Anybody know?

          CAUSES FOR RISING GAS PRICES

There was an interesting discussion on high gas prices this morning on Up Wtih Chris Hayes.

Rising gas prices are putting a strain on average Americans but could they be a sign of an economic recovery? CNBC contributor Dan Dicker and author Antonia Juhasz join UP to discuss the causes behind the increased prices.

While Mitt Romney accuses President Obama of being responsible for high gas prices, the Republican Party and their Wall Street donors work overtime to prevent the CFTC from using the tools (Dodd-Frank) at their disposal to address high gas prices.

          U.S. COMMODITY FUTURES TRADING COMMISSION

          Speculators and Commodity Prices—Redux
          Commissioner Bart Chilton

          February 24, 2012

On March 16, 2011, I spoke to an industry group concerning the impact of speculative activity on commodity prices. Eleven months later, I’m still talking about it, and saying almost precisely the same thing. Speculators are necessary liquidity providers to our markets, and while they perhaps are not driving prices to uneconomic levels, they certainly have an effect on prices—above and beyond where they might otherwise go—and American consumers and taxpayers are shouldering that burden.

President Obama spoke about rising gas prices yesterday. You can’t turn on the television or the radio without hearing about record high gas prices, and yet the CFTC has not yet been able to implement Congressionally-mandated position limits to put the brakes on excessive speculation in oil and other commodity markets. Meanwhile, trade associations representing Wall Street interests have sued us in federal court in order to impede our imposition of position limits.

So, I find myself repeating—and repeating—the same message: it’s high time to kick it in gear and use the one tool we have to appropriately address high oil and gas prices.

Click on the tweet you’re interested in, then click on “details” which is near the time stamp. Then copy that URL and paste where needed. Hope this helps 🙂

That’s odd…shouldn’t we all have the same version of Twitter!? The word “details” which is also a clickable link is not immediately visible until you actually open the tweet and then look further down near the time stamp. Layout looks something like this:

              “Open” the tweet first
once it’s open, you will see ‘details’ on the right of the line above the last line.
              copy the url
paste the url in a comment here.

Hey Yardarm this is what you do.

                  1. When you put your mouse over the tweet “Open” appears and you can click on “Open” which makes all the details of the tweet open up. Or you can just click on the tweet and it does the same.

                  2. When the tweet is open, you’ll see “Details” right next to the time of the tweet, the date the tweet was constructed and the tool the person used to construct the tweet. Example: 5:25PM 18 Mar 12 via Web. Or 5:25PM 18 Mar 12 via Twitter for iphone.

3 Click on “Details” when you click on “Details” it takes you to another page where all you see is the tweet.

                  4. In the address bar, click on the url. Right click with your mouse. Select “Copy” Copy the url. Come to TOD and right click again, select “Paste” the tweet’s url will appear in the TOD comment box. When you click on “Post Comment” your tweet will appear in a white box like everyone else’s tweets you’ve been seeing.

I hope this helps and if it doesn’t please let me know and I’ll walk you step by step again. 🙂

Am back from a rough week in Canada, saying a final goodbye to my dad. It was good to be with family, good to see my Mom doing so well by the end of the week, and now, exhausted, I’m back in California ready to go back to work. I missed being able to check in here, so if I missed anything important and big, please let me know. I loved seeing the pictures of PBO drinking beer yesterday, that was great. I missed the primaries, so did Mitt win any more?

When I got there there was a line of happy people ready to volunteer and see the video. The line stretched around the corner. They let about 17 to 20 people in at a time because of the large crowd. I got there at 5PM and when I got in to see the video it was 7PM. Some people could not wait that long a left before getting. I read there were about 700 people in total who got in and signed up to volunteer. I met some really nice people but I did not run into any from the TOD family.

Besty, it is so wonderful to see that you are back and all went well. I am so grateful that your Mom is holding up well. Please take care of yourself as you step back into your classroom. If your students are like mine were, they will give you much comfort to keep you going with encouraging words, lots of hugs, and even some saying or writing you little gentle notes that they were praying for you.

Music helped me get back into the demand of being the strength for them as well. So ,I would play as they entered each morning. They loved to hear the music. They would even ask me to play at times while they were finishing up their work. To this day, I will never know what was in their gentle spirits, but I know that whatever it was, we all were being comforted with the music. It was soothing for all of us.

So choose your path and I pray that you will find strength as you carry out your duties. Be gentle on your soul,((((((Strength and Love)))))HZ

“I see that both Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum now have Secret Service with them on the campaign trail,” Brown said. “And in Santorum’s case I think it’s the first time he’s actually ever used protection.”

The crowd broke into laughter and applause, putting a satisfied look on Brown’s face.

At first I thought Sasha had hit a growth spurt also, but I looked at the pictures from Hawaii and she is no taller than then. However, Sasha does look like she is maturing though. She is not skipping and running and carries herself like a pre-teen instead of a child. I don’t know if that makes sense to anyone else, but she has definitely changed. Maybe it’s the hair. It’s shorter and looks like she has gone natural.

Finally got to see Game Change last night, thanks to a link here. Couldn’t sleep thinking of what it revealed about that campaign. A few people decided who the VP nominee would be based only on who had the star power. Considering McCain’s age, and temperament, it could have been very possible that Sarah would have become president. President Bush at least had his Dad, Laura, and brother Jeb around who knew something about the political (and real) world and could keep him from going completely off the rails, but who did Sarah have? Her husband belonged to some far right group that wanted to have Alaska denounce statehood, and I don’t know if he even finished high school. Her supporters got more vocal as time went on with the slurs against President Obama. She made it OK to bring a whole lot of hate into the campaign–encouraged and fanned the flames. She brought out the worst in our citizenry and that just added to the work the Tea Party had already been doing. I didn’t feel sorry for her at all. She knew she had kids with lots of problems, she knew she didn’t know anything about foreign affairs, or domestic affairs for that matter. She knew she didn’t want to be constrained in any way. There would be no compromise in her world. When her handlers gave up trying to teach her anything and decided to just have her memorize 25 statements, without even knowing what they meant (didn’t matter) it seems to me that was a low point in American politics. When McCain found out how ignorent she was, he should have taken steps to drop her. I wonder how many of the current GOP staff members working for the nominees have doubts about their candidate? I’m just mulling that film over this am—-

“As a psychiatrist I expected a huge increase in suicides in the Fall and Winter of 2008 and 2009…It turned out not to be so.”
“I want to suggest that Barack Obama and the ‘Spirit of Hoped-For Change’ is the key…As Democrats, we need to stop apologizing when the GOP charge that many of us foolishly believed that Obama was “The One.” I think we need to accept, indeed embrace, that he was indeed the “essential one”…”

I can’t believe that the NRA continues to influence and intimidate lawmakers so that nothing sensible is ever done. March 18, 2012 at 8:08 pm

Santorum made the comment that Puerto Rico needed to speak English before becoming a state whereas Romney said the Puerto Ricans would decide if they wanted to be a state or not and if they decided they wanted statehood he would as President help them. Romney sounded better to the PR than Santorum. Even Santorum’s designated delegate said he would not vote for him. PR does not vote in the GE. Only states vote in the GE.

    • 302 57andfemale
      March 18, 2012 at 6:53 pm

We laugh about the Puerto Rico primary, but I read earlier in the week that a great number of Puerto Ricans are now living in FL and could make FL more in play for Mittens.

My question is that: Puerto Ricans are citizens. They can move to FL and vote like any other citizen, without statehood. I seem to recall that statehood was not a monolithic issue in 2008, but maybe it is for Republicans in Puerto Rico. Anyway, there was a decent article somewhere (please don’t ask my migrained-brain to try to track it down) that made the case that this could go Mittens good in the general in FL.

      Just sayin’.

      • 303 57andfemale
        March 18, 2012 at 6:56 pm

Of course, maybe PBO and Dem’s are for statehood, too. So maybe Floridians now realize they elected a Medicare cheat of enormous proportions as governor who hates creating jobs or doing anything reasonable for his state.

Does anyone doubt that Rubio is on the short list for V.P.? I’d place big money that he will be Romney’s running mate.

      • 304 hopefruit2
        March 18, 2012 at 7:05 pm

It depends on the proportion of those Puerto Ricans that are Republicans – if they lean Dem which most of them do, then it bodes worse for Romney. Puerto Ricans by and large are not the same voting bloc as Cubans. And right now Obama leads mittens among Latinos 70% to 14% – and that includes PuertoRicans.

I brought it up because I’d read what seemed like a rational article. What I forgot to say (and you reminded me): in recent polls Latinos in general are more concerned with jobs and health care.

          March 19, 2012 at 12:00 am

Just a small bit of my opinion here. Some Cubanos consider themselves “a cut above” other Latinos. Cubanos have also tended to be Republican because they blamed JFK for the failed Bay of Pigs, they felt Republicans were harder on Communism & they have usually enjoyed favored immigration status especially under Republicans. If ‘Robme’ chooses Rubio for his VP, he may get a rude awakening

Cubanos & Puerto Ricans do not live in the same kettle of fish & neither do the Latinos primarily from Mexico & South America. These GOP can’t tell the difference.

Help! Help! Help! Help!” and then you hear a gunshot and the screaming stops. The neighbors who called were freaked out and begging the cops to come saying they saw a black teen dead on the floor and a man standing over him and then the man calmly walking away. The neighbors just kept begging over and over and over again for the cops to come and that they hear a voice that sounds like a male child screaming “Help!” over and over again. How the heck has due process not occurred?

This case is disturbing on so many levels. From that control freak and racist Zimmerman to the corrupt law enforcement who abetted him in pushing that BS “self-defense” line.

If any of you are ever running for public office, please ban robocalls. They make people hate you and vow to never vote for you. They even turn people off from voting entirely. Received a call every 10 minutes today from Willard campaign. The last one was Mike from the Romney campaign who had some really bad secrets to tell me about Santorum, but I didn’t stick around to hear the dirt. I already know Ricky’s Icky Trickies.

And this is how they are when they are somewhat restrained and trying not to do the ultimate damage to their party. Imagine how bad it will be when the General Campaign begins, and they want to destroy President Obama. No matter what the polls say or how good the mood might be right now, never underestimate how ugly this election will get. And stay focused.

I just saw 21 Jump Street and it was actually really funny. 3 of the five original cast made cameos (the 2 missing were Dustin Nguyen and Richard Grieco) It had some real laugh out loud moments and some great “oh shit” moments and dare I say some great comedic acting, who knew Channing Tatum could be both hot and funny?

The added bonus for me, as I was looking at the movie I kept seeing these landmarks that I seemed to recognize, then half way through, I realized it was New Orleans. I was way too excited to realize that the action sequences were all in NOLA. I know, sad right.

Need some help. Today I spent the day phone banking. On the way home I called my husband and he said did you hear? The repubs have a new long commercial out claiming the President Obama is in cahoots with Wall Street. Then I got home and started entering my data when I get a phone call-robo from Huckelberry. I listened and then pressed one when prompted. All during the robo I was called a conservative (what!!!) then the staff member came on and asked me what I thought. I said are you a PAC? Oh, no, we aren’t. Where do you get your funding? From individual donors. Yea right. Well this seems to be the talking point (BS) du jour. What can I do? Send me some talking points. I have a great writing team that will get on this now. I just need the information. Help!

Who is “Huckelberry?” And on whose behalf did they say they were calling?

And why would you need to talking points to give to a robo-caller? Simply say no thanks, and hang up the phone.

Okay thx Tien. I don’t think it’s a good idea to engage ANY GOP robocaller on the phone.

Why not? It gives us insight into what they’re trying to accomplish and allows us to learn what lies they’re using. It also wastes their time.

Ok, I call Huckabee huckelberry because, well, just because it comes to mind when I see him. If my husband hadn’t just seen a repub commercial about the same subject, I probably would have hung up. I stayed on the call just to see where they were taking it. I wanted to know what pac was paying for it. They called me a conservative–which means they must be calling everyone. My ofa team has a writing team who prides themselves on responding timely to new points. I just thought someone could help me gather the facts and some links about President Obama/wallstreet. thanks anyway

Okay, I must have misinterpreted your request for talking points – you are wanting talking points for the people you call when you phonebank, and not the GOP callers, right? If that’s the case, then my apologies to you. I do agree with Tien Le that you can gain insights into what the callers are trying to accomplish by listening to them. I just don’t think we should be giving them our talking points for them to go back and find ways to work around it.

I have seen the commercial that your husband is referring to. It’s not very convincing (like many of the GOP’s anti-Obama ads put out there). Everyone who is conscious enough to vote knows that Mitt Romney is Wall Street’s guy by a wide margin. So if they’re gonna decide to not vote for PBO, it’s not because of Wall Street, it’s probably for some other reason.

Talking points about where the Obama campaign gets its money. How are the repubs claiming it comes from wallstreet? Real facts. This is where the gop is going this week.

Remember how we used to say that the only time the GOP and the Religious Right cared about people was when they were in the womb. Well, with trans-vaginal ultrasounds that run the risk of spontaneously causing abortions, trying to pass laws giving doctors the right to withhold information from a mother about the health of her fetus/unborn child, and trying to pass laws that deny women prenatal care–I think we can say definitively now that the Right don’t even care about the unborn any more. Chances are pretty good that they never did, but now it’s out in the open just how callous they are toward all forms of life except their own, and maybe not even then.

The disgusting Baby-A-Year Duggar Family, part of an extremist Christian sect trying to populate the country with their brand of nutball religious whackos, will be campaigning with Lil Ricky in Illinois tomorrow. Can’t wait. Maybe they have another announcement. Offspring are now continuing the procreation extravaganza alongside mom who is submissive to dominant husband and will accept “whatever God has planned” even tho her health has been gravely threatened. Goofballs.
