Apparently not Malia or Grandmom Robinson. Red coat, umbrella lady looks more official or secret service-like, especially since she’s walking in a different direction in the next picture. Plus, the way she’s carrying that umbrella, I wouldn’t want to mess with her!! 😯
If she is SS, she is doing a fantastic job of appearing to not be with the detail, bless her for that! If she is unordinary citizen, would the SS let her get that close?
She’s probably part of the SS – but a decoy. They have those types who are dressed to look like ordinary folks in the crowd – but are in fact SS agents…
I have seen some who I believe to be decoys when PBO is giving his speeches – they tend to be in the middle of the crowd and look just like the rest of crowd except their facial expressions and body language are a bit more “serious” than the rest.
I can’t tell if that’s Malia. Kinda whacky camera angle. All I see if ‘legs’ But you figure she’s probably not that far away… Or maybe she stayed home with Grandma. That would be cool too.
When they are all four together, they always walk abreast, sharing the love, being in the joy of togetherness… See in the second pic, the woman with the red coat and umbrella is walking across the back… Is she SS? Wouldn’t want to mess with that umbrella!
Sasha is growing, you know she is playing basketball ball and wouldn’t it be nice if she were to get a scholarship to college to play basketball, her Daddy’s favorite sport. When is Sasha’s birthday? I know Malia is July 4th, she will be 14. And Sasha will be 11 on her next birthday.
Sasha is adorable. Just adorable. I’m so glad that they have let them be girls. Not dressing them like grown women. And clue on where they went to church? If I recall, there is a church across the street from the White House that they have attended frequently.
They are even sensitive about that. I remember PBO saying that he wanted to attend church but didn’t like that his attendance made such a disturbance for the other church-goers.
Reposting because this is so important. I have not heard any reporting on this GOP sleight of hand in their bogus “JOBS ACT”. This is what the GOP has always done. They give legislation reasonable sounding names that are full of nothing but poison pills and sabotage. Thankfully, Senator Carl Levin is trying to rectify the damage with the “INVEST ACT”. The mainstream media continues to look the other way.
THE GOP “JOBS ACT” IS NOT A JOBS ACT (CARL LEVIN “INVEST ACT” IS THE WAY TO GO)

Background on the INVEST In America Act
Thursday, March 15, 2012
Read Sen. Levin’s Senate floor speech on the INVEST in America Act.
=================================
Legislation passed by the House that supporters say is designed to create jobs would strip away important protections and put the stability of the economy and our financial markets at risk. The INVEST in America Act, introduced by Sens. Reed, Landrieu and Levin would repair the House bills flaws. Below is background information on the INVEST in America Act and information on the building wave of concern over the provisions of the House-passed legislation.
My goodness Sasha is at her mom’s shoulder. FLOTUS is 5’11 so Sasha is probably already 5’5 or 5’6 and she’s only 10 years old! I can remember Reggie Love warning us in that interview just before leaving the WH that the girls were huge(in a tall sort of way). Having both a mom and dad that are quite tall these girls were bound to be statuesque. I feel so bad for President Obama he is going to have a time fending off the boys. 🙂
I was just thinking how he must feel when his little girls enter the room, all dressed up and looking so mature and beautiful. Proud but probably with a large pinch of sentiment about how fast they are growing up. Thank goodness he has them by his side every day. I remember reading during the campaign how, at a private fundraiser, he broke into tears talking about how much he missed them.
Exactly. Children period can be a full time job. I had two girls and one boy. The girls gave me fits. Especially the boys always hanging around. I don’t know how the President does it. In one hand your family, in the other the world. Wheeew.
I don’t think so. They seem like really well-grounded, heads on straight, kind of girls. My 3 daughters didn’t give us any major probs when they were teenagers—-just the usual stuff, looking out the window hoping that the next car was them getting home safely.
OMG – You mean Sasha could be taller than me??? Wow can’t believe how much she’s grown!! Sasha is such a cutie, and looks like she is growing to be as beautiful as her mother 🙂
I’d give anything to be her height 😀 😀 😀 Sigh at 5’0 even 3 inches would have been appreciated!!!
There is nothing wrong with being petite and pretty. My mom was 5’0 as well (I’m not sure how I got to be 5’5 because my dad was not very tall either). We never used the word “short” in our home growing up it was always “petite” 🙂
I know; I am not quite 5′ 4 and to think that a pre-teen is taller than I am is a bit lowering (sigh), but she came by it honestly; everyone except Grandma and Maya are tall.
Like most dads it is hard for him to see his little girls grow into young women. Michelle said he gulps when he sees Malia all dressed up. Poor Daddy; but they still spoil him (he told one ofthe dinner winners that girls look after their daddies) and are still willing to hold hands in public and to sit on their laps.
oh, pinkbunny. My mother used to reach over and put her arm across my chest when she was driving and she stopped the car more quickly than she wanted to. I would crack up every time. She said it was a habit that she just couldn’t break.
I still do that too. It’s a natural protective reaction. And my daughters are all grown and married. And I still can have a moment of panic when shopping if I lose sight of whichever one I’m shopping with. I will yell out their name. Katy! Katy! Katy can’t believe it. Exasperated, she’ll say, ” Mom, I’m not getting kidnapped. I was just in the shoe dept.”
I know, huh? My niece is the same age, they both will be eleven years old this year. They were born 2001 the year of 9/11 and these young women will be a force to deal with. They give me so much hope for the future.
George Clooney on Sudan: ‘It Gets in Your Bloodstream’
By: Larisa Epatko
===============================================
With violence putting people in the Nuba Mountains region of Sudan in peril, actor and human rights activist George Clooney said Wednesday in an interview with the NewsHour’s Judy Woodruff that it was only right to bring attention to the area.
Clooney has visited Sudan multiple times over the years and met with the people there. “It gets in your bloodstream and you have a responsibility to them,” he told Woodruff after testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Okay, that is all the time I have for now, it has been lovely, off to work. BUT, before I hasten away, Yardarm posted an hysterically funny piece at the end of the rise and shine thread, absolutely a must read… Am trying to get him to admit whether he is Mr. Harris…. Yardarm?
Here is the piece you were talking about and no I’m not Mr. Harris. 😉
RETIRED/BORED HUSBAND
After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target.
Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women – she loves to browse.
Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Target:
Dear Mrs. Harris,
Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behaviour and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Harris, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras:
1. June 15: He took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people’s carts when they weren’t looking.
2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.
3. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women’s restroom.
4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, ‘Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away’. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money.
5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway
6. August 14: Moved a ‘CAUTION – WET FLOOR’ sign to a carpeted area.
7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he’d invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged.
8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, ‘Why can’t you people just leave me alone?’ EMTs were called.
9.. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.
10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.
11. October 3: Darted around the Store suspiciously while loudly humming the ‘ Mission Impossible’ theme.
12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his ‘Madonna look’ by using different sizes of funnels on his chest.
13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, he yelled ‘PICK ME! PICK ME!’
14. October 22: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a
fetal position and screamed ‘OHNO! IT’S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!’
15. Took a box of condoms to the check out clerk and asked where the fitting room was?
And last, but not least:
16. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, ‘Hey! There’s no toilet paper in here.’
Thank you Universe for a Great President that observes his chosen religion in a dignified manner and NEVER SHOVES IT IN PEOPLES FACES.
(Unlike many hypocrital, pompous, dishonest, double-standard following politicians that seem to belong to a partcular party and don’t need to be named.)
Well he would be the best judge seeing that he wrote the blueprint with that VP pick 4 years ago and gave her the greenlight to be as nasty as possible to rile up the Republican base and so now that’s all they respond to.
This years clowns are just picking up from where he and Palin left off!
McCain is only concerned that Newt and Santorum are being mean to Mittens. He doesn’t care that it’s his chosen candidate whose super Pac is the most negative ever. And if I recall correctly McCain was against the Dems bill to make super Pacs publish the names of their donors.
Get a clue, McCain: you helped to start it by picking the incompetent tea party darling as your running mate and defending her as recently as a few weeks ago. and I have yet to hear you since your loss to PBO speak out to defend at least the office of the Presidency. You have treated the current President with disdain and have not made an effort to return your party to moderation and decency.
So you, sir, are in big part responsible. Be a man and at least admit it.
remember the Prayer Breakfast (probably 2 years ago) when President Obama siad he looks at his kid (or children?) and prays that their skirts grow longer as the day goes by? I have prayed for many things in my life but for clothing to grow on a person – I can safely say no.
I posted on last nights blog that today will be my last day for awhile due to surgery on Monday morning. I just logged on and looked back at that blog and want to thank all of the bloggers who wish me well. Your support will carry with me to the hospital and skilled nursing center. Loved the Obama family photos.
Obama Grandmama!! All good thoughts and prayers going up for you!!! Stay strong and know that you’ll be getting some virtual thoughts and hugs from TODville. We’re a virtual village and we care about our own.
I have been praying for you since you first informed us of your surgery on the 19th, in fact just Sat., I was in prayer for all of my TOD family members.
Here is a special hug of love and special healing as you go into surgery, Obama Grandmama(((((((((((((Loving Arms of Strength)))))))))HZ
Our thoughts and prayers will be with you! Please have someone post how you are doing every now and then. Or send an email to Chips. I know the surgery will be successful.
Obama Grandmama – thoughts and prayers going up for your successful surgery and for your very important physical rehab. Touch base with us as soon as you are able.
Good Day Chips & Tods…
Nice to see our beautiful first family…They are just Beautiful!!
On other news: I am so sad and quite angry about Trayvon senseless death…and more pissed that Ronald Martin wants to make it all about PBO. Last night He went to say..”That if this was PBO at 17 walking, “suspicious” and they took his life, we wouldn’t have made history today” something to that effect, you can see his twitter for exact quote, I shot a twitter back to him..Saying, that first of all PBO at 17 was probably safer than as President, as he gets 400 death threats a day..plus a few hundreds serving time in trying to take him out. I can’t stand Roland…for someone that voted for Bush twice..destroyed a whole state of Louisiana killing thousand of black folks in Katrina, He has the audacity to speak of what PBO should or not do…Sorry for my rant.
He was suspended from CNN long ago..and haven’t seen him on CNN for a while now..I hope they just fire him…but he sure making lots of $$ with his book all about PBO presidency
I also shot him a tweet and told him in short no person with a working brain cell would advise the president to go out and condemn the shooting of this young man before the DOJ comes forward with their official findings.
Any defense lawyer would call these findings biased because the president has already determined that Zimmerman was guilty. When the president spoke up in the Professor Gates’s case, he afterward received backlash from all sides becasue the case had not been fully investigated.
Roland is one simple minded idiot…and as someone put it on twitter, the president is not an activist, but POTUS.
Kasai, while I was reading your comments, my heart got full and I wanted just to be near you and give you a(((((((((Hug)))))))). I understand your comments, but be assured that you spoke the truth, and I appreciate you sharing that with your family here. We must listen to each other and try to find a way to help each one move wiith the joy that God has placed in the day for you to enjoy and be a part of.
It is so sad to see that Roland can’t rise above his own failings of trying to place the load on POB again. Roland has the opportunity to speak to millions as well. Why he chooses to attack POB with his words, rather than find comforting words to express to this young man’s family at a very difficult time as this is beyond me. Minister where you are, Roland Martin. Not tear down the good. POB is the POTUS, and he is not the Savior of the world, Mr. Roland Martin.
So Kasai, take courage, do what you feel in your heart to make some healing sense out of these words that have wounded your heart that Roland Martin has uttered before the entire world. Then take comfort in your heart that your actions will carry a loving messsage to this family becuase you have chosen to not tear down during this diifficult time in this beautiful young man’s life, but to build up this family with words that will speak truth, compassion, comfort, and peace in a very difficult time for them and for so many other families.
Roland is blaming POB, and we know that is NOT right, and that is why you and all of us are hurt and rightly so. POB can’t not heal the entire nation of it many, many, wounds, he is not God. But he does and always tries to bring comfort in his own way. So we will continue to pray that POB will always seek wisdom in all that he does and speaks.
We do not know who he prayed for as he attended church this morning. Maybe for his own nation, maybe for the young children, men and women in Sudan who are being mistreated and for those like George Clooney, Martin L. King, lll, Clooney’s dad, Ben Jealous and all who were arrested for a cause that is so worthy. Maybe he prayed for wisdom in making tough decisions concerning the war;,and the safety of all men and women who are fighting. Maybe he prayed for the lives that were taken in that awful shooting in Afgan. and the young man who is accused of acting in that particular situation; maybe he prayed for his own safety, and his family’s; maybe he prayed for the ugly treatment that we practice daily in our own nation against him and others. Maybe he prayed for healing in our nation. And maybe he prayed for the families who are living from pay check to pay check, and maybe he prayed for the seniors who can’t afford heat where it is cold this morning, or maybe he prayed for the greed that controls our instutions in Washington to make decisions that displaces families onto the streets all across this nation. In any case, I believe that He Prayed.
We were not in his head as he sat there and prayed. Maybe he prayed for his enemies, Lord knows he has so many as we can see daily from their actions. But I am sure, he prayed for goodness sake, wisdom, compassion, pure thoughts, guidance, peace, and love to all mankind. POB is doing his part, and I wonder how Mr. Martin can pass judgement on POB ,when we are told not to judge, and yes in this case, it is judging POB. Maybe Mr. Martin could have done us a beautiful and more peaceful favor, if he had written a prayer for our President. Oh, yes, being from a “Minster’s background “as he constantly reminds us. We are to pray for one another, if that is your faith.
And more importantly, we are toldd to pray for our leaders. Read. I Tim. 2. And it tells us why.
So my dear Kasai, you did the right thing this morning, you brought a concern to your family, and you gave all of us something to think about, pray about, meditate upon, and hold you up in our thoughts of good energy to be comforted in your spirit. Thanks for taking a stand for what is right and good. Also remember this: “Welcome Joy Into Your Home as a Permanent Resident.” Osteen.
Also, let us light a candle for this young man’s family and ask for justice to run down like a river in his case and so many others that we know are taking place at this very moment. That is our cause, and we will answer it as each of us feel in our heart to do so. You have done yours today, and may God’s blessing be upon you, my dear one. You have shown the ‘better angel’ in this. Thanks for reminding us to be supportive of each other and to surely be supportive of POB. ((((((((((((((((((((Be gentle to your spirit, Kasai))))))))))))))))HZ
Dear HZ…Thank you kindly for your encouraging words of wisdom, you inspire me everyday, I was so sad all day yesterday, I prayed for Trayvon’s mom and sent her my condolences thru Tweets…I didn’t want to say anything about Roland, because I felt he didn’t deserve my attention, I was more focused on the tragedy and my emotions got the best in me. I thank you for the support and kindness your spirit takes me….”I simply Love you” (((Hugs))
HZ, thank you so for your words of wisdom. We are a family here. Your words always bring solace to many of us. Always know you are in my prayers. We need your words!
What do Roland want? Everytime something happen for President Obama to get in the middle of it. Why don’t Roland do his job and bring attention to the case
First off, POTUS & FLOTUS certainly ‘get it’. in a 2009 interview FLOTUS was asked about all the death threats etc and how it felt. She responded (paraphrasing) that as a young black man in America, everytime he steps out the door he faces threats against his safety. She even said/hinted that this is not just from thugs and crazies but from law enforcement as well. She said that with the SS around him now, it’s the safest he’s ever felt.
Has anyone noticed how every time something happens to upset our sense of fairness, safety or fair play people start screaming for PBO to soothe their fears and anger. Every. Single. Group. has done it. Pick any issue and check out the public response. It’s been non-stop. I don’t know how he handles it. And yes, it’s happened on this blog also. Right or wrong, with us or against us, it’s the same with every incident.
Very truthful post LunarSea. I’m reading TOD periodically, so hello to all. It’s a beautiful day. Don’t waste it (not that being here is a waste). Blessings to ObamaGrandmama, HZ, Joan, Betsy, and all else who are having difficulties. Bless our most precious First Family, and I want Sasha’s curls 😀
I posted to twitter and on Roland’s FB that I noticed he was calling out all these people on Twitter including POTUS, but he wasn’t calling out nobody on CNN. Roland’s a chump and looks to me he’s trying to keep his crappy lower tier job at CNN
Roland should actually call himself out, because he is late to this news. HLN Vinnie Politan
has been trying to draw attention to this for over a week a bit, promise to stay with the story until
the guy was arrested… Vinnie interviewed the parents and featured the story everyday at around 6pm, Vinnie dug into the shooters background found out he is alone wolf, and is a one man neighbourhood watch. So Roland is no hero
IMO he is an opportunist. Roland is also on Tom Joyner in the morning and no body was talking about it.
See the difference between Rev. Al and Roland Martin. Rev. Al did not call for President Obama to get involved the that case. But Rev. Al was going to do all he could. Hear that Roland.
So according to news reports, serial liar willard is now attacking President Obama for setting a date to withdraw from Afaghanistan. Here is my answer to willard the liar:
willard, one obvious way to demonstrate your full committment to a perpetual war in Afghanistan is to send one (or ALL ) of your five sons to help relieve the pressure on some other American Service person. What are you waiting for?
Mitt the liar, was pummeled by McCain in the “08” primary becasue he stated in interviews that he thought a withdrawal date in Iraq was good. He tried to lie his way out of it, but McCain was having none of it. McCain figuratively bloodied his nose in that debate.
Later news outlets showed clips of Romney admittedly saying he agreed with a troop withdrawal time line.
When PBO said that he learned about Kony killing from his daughters..and spoke about Rush insulting Sara, He thought about his daughters..It speaks volume that with out a doubt.. Malia and Sasha are very aware of what’s going on…and they will be a force not to be recon with , as they follow and live a perfect example of their parents… Let there be no doubt that the OBAMA’s are here to say long after their father is out the white house….I can dream of President Maila Obama…..can’t I 🙂
Oh!!! what a vision:-) I’ve been blessed to see PBO being elected and to be in this era..is something that my generation will read in history books..Long live the Obamas!!!
I know what you’re mean and saying, but let’s be careful when we say that PBO heard about the Kony killings from Malia. He actually said he heard about the “Kony video” (that has gone viral) from Malia. He knew about the killings for awhile since he sent approximately 100 troops to that area last October to advise or train (I can’t remember which one) to try to capture Kony. I only say this because there has been some comments on YouTube and other places that are pretty much calling the President a liar or incompetent that he heard about Kony from his daughter — not understanding that he’s talking about the video not the situation. As some of us may recall, Rush made a big deal about PBO sending troops to hunt down the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army and said this was another instance of the President being against Christians. Poor, stupid Rush didn’t do his homework, as usual, and didn’t know what the LRA was all about.
I also agree with you about Malia, I see great things in her future!
ok – I’ve been under a rock. Where is Melia? Off doing something awesome?
And in other Off Topic news, say a little prayer for Bolton player Fabrice Muamba – 23 year old Bolton footballer (and father) who collapsed on the pitch with a heart attack, and is in critical condition.
Muamba is the one who had the heart attack, not his father. Muamba collapsed in the middle of the game yesterday and was not breathing, and transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Not his dad – HIM. He collapsed in the middle of the game ON THE FIELD – while playing. At 23. In front of 36,000 fans. Live on international television.
This is a total shocker and the whole country is gripped and praying for his speedy recovery. I don’t follow football as such (just check who is up or who is going to be relegated) and I’ve never heard of him but he appears to have his head screwed on and loved by both fans and players alike. You couldn’t help but be moved to tears to see grown men crying and praying on the pitch for their colleague.
Praying for him, Tally. So much is happening, but we move with grace to reach out where we can to say a prayer, meditate on goodness of thoughts, light a candle, and be kind to other human spirits who need our love and compassion wherever they are in this world. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, Tally. Love you,HZ
Hey, I shared a first with my nephew yesterday when he and I went to see both the first men’s professional soccer match for either of us yesterday. The Atlanta Silverbacks played Mercer University to a draw in their prep for an away today match against the U.S. Men’s National Team.
I was just giddy watching his excitement over seeing “real” players do their thing. It was sad to see the low turnout, and only a few of the spectators seemed to be that much into the game. But the sun was out and the breeze was soothing.
I kept thinking, man they need a pep team (at least an emcee with some music) and definitely some PR. The nephew and I did what we could to cheer on the players though. There were a few people there (and particularly some young people) who you could tell really love the game. Yesterday’s game was actually free, since it wasn’t a regular league match, so that might’ve contributed to the lackluster crowd. Nephew was thrilled to walk away with an autographed poster and a t-shirt and I was on cloud nine at how the whole experience just lit him up. I’m looking forward to going again soon.
What a tragedy! I will be praying for his speedy recovery. It’s such a shock that such a young man, and top notch athlete, had a heart attack! His family, friends, and his fellow players, are all in my thoughts and prayers because they certainly are going through a horrendous time.
I don’t think the SS are doing their jobs well. There’s a menacing looking squirrel darting furtively around them as they walk to church in one of those pictures and no one is tackling it!
Attorney General Eric Holder is sharply criticizing the expansion of laws that would require photo identification to vote, blasting them as “unnecessary” and arguing that proponents of the provisions are citing a voter fraud problem that “does not exist” in America.
In an interview with NBC News’ Pete Williams this week, Holder continued his aggressive advocacy against the laws, which are already on the books in more than 15 states, and are being considered by numerous others. Using its power under the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Justice Department has invalidated laws in South Carolina and Texas that would mandate voters present photo identification to vote…
Holder needs to do more than speak on this issue. All of these new laws violate HAVA, which mandates the range of ID requirements a state can impose for voter registration. These states are overriding a federal law and I want to know why that’s legal. These state laws should all be titled Preventing America from Voting Acts. I don’t know how the Justice Department works, but could they join in suits by state groups against the voter suppression laws? All kinds of groups can submit briefs in support of the federal government. Why can’t the federal government join in suing a state? Anybody know?
Reminder: Next Friday, March 23rd, is the 2-year anniversary of the signing of the Affordable Care Act into law.
The Supreme Court begins hearing oral arguments on Monday, March 26th.
There will be 6 hours of oral arguments over 3 days.
There will be same-day release of audio and written transcripts of the proceedings available at http://www.supremecourt.gov.
The black vote: 5 states where Obama needs a big African-American turnout
Here’s a look at five states the president won in 2008 where the black vote is critical to his chances.
1. North Carolina
2. Virginia
3. Ohio
4. Florida
5. Pennsylvania
Bottom line folks. From now until the election it would behove us to focus on VOTER REGISTRATION! What Roland Martin thinks or does doesn’t matter. As well as the pundits, talking heads, and “political experts”,doesn’t matter.
We must be mindful that a lot of what we see or read are either distractions or obstructions…..We gotta press on. 4morefor44!
Yardarm, you are absolutely right on. Forget the abstractions and get out and register voters. Get on the phones and make sure voters are prepared for new voting rules. Let’s make this year the biggest voter registration push of all time.
Thanks Yardarm for this wise advice. I agree with you 100%! It’s time to spend less energy reacting to the negativity from people who really do not matter, and instead focus on doing everything to ensure the re-election of the President. I would even be willing to contribute to a fund specifically set up to help people who otherwise cannot afford to obtain the new voter ID’s required by those intent on suppressing the votes.
Lynn Sweet that “journalist” from the Chicago Sun Times is getting a good deal of push back from the Twitterverse and a lot of TOD Twitterers! Way to go guys! here’s her original post. Great example of a journalist willing to carry water for the GOP Clown Car Crazies
There was an interesting discussion on high gas prices this morning on Up Wtih Chris Hayes.
Rising gas prices are putting a strain on average Americans but could they be a sign of an economic recovery? CNBC contributor Dan Dicker and author Antonia Juhasz join UP to discuss the causes behind the increased prices.
While Mitt Romney accuses President Obama of being responsible for high gas prices, the Republican Party and their Wall Street donors work overtime to prevent the CFTC from using the tools (Dodd-Frank) at their disposal to address high gas prices.
U.S. COMMODITY FUTURES TRADING COMMISSION
Speculators and Commodity Prices—Redux
Commissioner Bart Chilton
February 24, 2012
On March 16, 2011, I spoke to an industry group concerning the impact of speculative activity on commodity prices. Eleven months later, I’m still talking about it, and saying almost precisely the same thing. Speculators are necessary liquidity providers to our markets, and while they perhaps are not driving prices to uneconomic levels, they certainly have an effect on prices—above and beyond where they might otherwise go—and American consumers and taxpayers are shouldering that burden.
President Obama spoke about rising gas prices yesterday. You can’t turn on the television or the radio without hearing about record high gas prices, and yet the CFTC has not yet been able to implement Congressionally-mandated position limits to put the brakes on excessive speculation in oil and other commodity markets. Meanwhile, trade associations representing Wall Street interests have sued us in federal court in order to impede our imposition of position limits.
So, I find myself repeating—and repeating—the same message: it’s high time to kick it in gear and use the one tool we have to appropriately address high oil and gas prices.
Of course the media knows that President Obama is not responsible for the gas prices going up, but the media rather keep pushing the Republicans agenda.

That’s odd…shouldn’t we all have the same version of Twitter!? The word “details” which is also a clickable link is not immediately visible until you actually open the tweet and then look further down near the time stamp. Layout looks something like this:

Am back from a rough week in Canada, saying a final goodbye to my dad. It was good to be with family, good to see my Mom doing so well by the end of the week, and now, exhausted, I’m back in California ready to go back to work. I missed being able to check in here, so if I missed anything important and big, please let me know. I loved seeing the pictures of PBO drinking beer yesterday, that was great. I missed the primaries, so did Mitt win any more?
Welcome back Betsy. So sorry about your dad. I was hoping to meet you at the OFA meeting but I am sure our paths will cross in our efforts to re-elect the president. You must check out the 17 minute video.
I hope to be able to go to the next OFA meeting and meet fellow TODers. I did get to see the video, and have watched it a couple of times already. It’s fabulous! How was the meeting, and who came from our TOD family?
When I got there there was a line of happy people ready to volunteer and see the video. The line stretched around the corner. They let about 17 to 20 people in at a time because of the large crowd. I got there at 5PM and when I got in to see the video it was 7PM. Some people could not wait that long a left before getting. I read there were about 700 people in total who got in and signed up to volunteer. I met some really nice people but I did not run into any from the TOD family.
Hi Betsy without the 2nd E. Glad you got to say your final goodbye and spend time with your family. May he live forever in you and in all who knew him and may you always feel his loving presence.
Besty, it is so wonderful to see that you are back and all went well. I am so grateful that your Mom is holding up well. Please take care of yourself as you step back into your classroom. If your students are like mine were, they will give you much comfort to keep you going with encouraging words, lots of hugs, and even some saying or writing you little gentle notes that they were praying for you.
Music helped me get back into the demand of being the strength for them as well. So ,I would play as they entered each morning. They loved to hear the music. They would even ask me to play at times while they were finishing up their work. To this day, I will never know what was in their gentle spirits, but I know that whatever it was, we all were being comforted with the music. It was soothing for all of us.
So choose your path and I pray that you will find strength as you carry out your duties. Be gentle on your soul,((((((Strength and Love)))))HZ
I always thought Sasha look like Michelle, and Malia look like Barack. But any way they are lovely girls and I’m sure their parents are proud of them. Just like I am proud of them all.
I think she looks like President Obama’s Grandmother. My friends have always disagreed with me. They claim she looks like her Mom. So, your description is more similar to mine. Thank you!!!
It you see the video that Mrs. Robinson did during the campaign about raising her family and pictures of Michelle when she was a little girl, it’s like looking at Sasha. Sasha looks so much like her Mom in my opinion.
Yes she does. She has her moms shape face and her dads’s features. Malia, on the other hand, has the features of her mom and a face shaped like her dad’s. (Sasha’s eyes are definitely not her mom’s, like Malia’s are. @ jojothecat, Michell’s eyes were huge as a child)
Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) cracked a joke about Rick Santorum and condoms in a St. Patrick’s Day speech in Boston, per a video clip captured by BuzzFeed’s Andrew Kaczynski.
“I see that both Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum now have Secret Service with them on the campaign trail,” Brown said. “And in Santorum’s case I think it’s the first time he’s actually ever used protection.”
The crowd broke into laughter and applause, putting a satisfied look on Brown’s face.
At first I thought Sasha had hit a growth spurt also, but I looked at the pictures from Hawaii and she is no taller than then. However, Sasha does look like she is maturing though. She is not skipping and running and carries herself like a pre-teen instead of a child. I don’t know if that makes sense to anyone else, but she has definitely changed. Maybe it’s the hair. It’s shorter and looks like she has gone natural.
Sasha is soo talk and it looks like she’s no completely lost the baby fat. I can’t believe they’re growing so fast and so much! I wonder why Malia didn’t go. She probably had a test to study for or didn’t feel well.
GREAT PICS. OF OUR FIRST FAMILY GOING TO CHURCH…SASHA IS GROWING UP SO QUICKLY…PERHAPS MALIA HAD SOME HOMEWORK TO DO. I WAS GONE ALL DAY TODAY AFTER CHURCH…SOAKING UP SOME SUNSHINE!…:) YEEEHAAAH…THANK YOU LORD FOR A BEAUTIFUL DAY!
I am so glad that #TheRoadWeTraveled came out…It’s getting great reviews and turning Republicans to vote for PBO, amazing how Media failed the public.. many people had no ides of all his accomplishments until this movie.
Here are some samples of what people are posting:
Thank-you. That is all I have to say. He has showed us the true meaning of pulling together. He put politics aside for one cause, The United States of America. I am a die hard Republican but I love the U.S.A. He has given hope to the “vanishing” middle class of pursuing the American dream. It proves just what our founding father Washington said in his Farewell Address, stay away from political parties. Obama Biden 2012
Dear Mr. President, To my shame and regret I was raised a Republican and was fed many lies to which this moment I believed… Your the embodiment of what this country needs in a President. You sir have demolished every false impression, opinion, and utter lies I believed till now. No longer will I waste my time arguing amongst fellow Americans on who needs to be in office when the man for the job is already there. You have earned my vote in November! Obama 2012
WOW! kasai, are these comments posted under the video? MSM should be ashamed of themselves for never doing their jobs. Glad to see people opening their eyes, even if it IS for the first time.
Finally got to see Game Change last night, thanks to a link here. Couldn’t sleep thinking of what it revealed about that campaign. A few people decided who the VP nominee would be based only on who had the star power. Considering McCain’s age, and temperament, it could have been very possible that Sarah would have become president. President Bush at least had his Dad, Laura, and brother Jeb around who knew something about the political (and real) world and could keep him from going completely off the rails, but who did Sarah have? Her husband belonged to some far right group that wanted to have Alaska denounce statehood, and I don’t know if he even finished high school. Her supporters got more vocal as time went on with the slurs against President Obama. She made it OK to bring a whole lot of hate into the campaign–encouraged and fanned the flames. She brought out the worst in our citizenry and that just added to the work the Tea Party had already been doing. I didn’t feel sorry for her at all. She knew she had kids with lots of problems, she knew she didn’t know anything about foreign affairs, or domestic affairs for that matter. She knew she didn’t want to be constrained in any way. There would be no compromise in her world. When her handlers gave up trying to teach her anything and decided to just have her memorize 25 statements, without even knowing what they meant (didn’t matter) it seems to me that was a low point in American politics. When McCain found out how ignorent she was, he should have taken steps to drop her. I wonder how many of the current GOP staff members working for the nominees have doubts about their candidate? I’m just mulling that film over this am—-
DANG! Sasha is starting to look so much less like a little girl and soon to be a lady like her Sis & Mom. It makes me just a little teary. Our kiddos grow up so fast. I look at my own Grandchildren & some days just want to hit a ‘Pause Button’ to keep them where they are but then I realize what ever age they grow to they continue to be adorable, at least to me.
This is a great post from PlanetPOV. These are remarks made by a psychiatrist about the events leading up to PBO’s election, and what he believes about PBO. For once, read the comments: they are awesome.
“As a psychiatrist I expected a huge increase in suicides in the Fall and Winter of 2008 and 2009…It turned out not to be so.”
“I want to suggest that Barack Obama and the ‘Spirit of Hoped-For Change’ is the key…As Democrats, we need to stop apologizing when the GOP charge that many of us foolishly believed that Obama was “The One.” I think we need to accept, indeed embrace, that he was indeed the “essential one”…”
Obama grandmama…..from another grandmama, I will be praying for you in your surgery and recovery. The world needs us feisty grandmothers! We love ’em all, and keep people strong, and we will be strong for you!
I so love the pictures of the Obamas as a family walking to church….I know it takes a lot of protection, but they so look as if they enjoy it! Bravo for him choosing the simplest place with the least hassle. I know that church well from living in D.C., and it is meant to be safe for the President, and the people who attend want him there and safe. I truly think they can relax and worship without interruption there.
Thank you, Carolyn and everyone who chimed in with prayers and positive thoughts. Just checking in here before getting ready as I will have to get up at 3am to leave by 5am Monday morning. I go with your prayers and messages boosting my confidence. Thanks. Know I feel our TOD family is important in my life. Besides helping our First Family, informing others we are supporting each other! Pretty wonderful.
41 young people were shot in Chgo, from 5:00 p.m. Fri. till noon today, 7 fatally including an adorable 6 yr. old girl. Something has to be done about the proliferation of guns in this country. I can’t believe that the NRA continues to influence and intimidate lawmakers so that nothing sensible is ever done. It’s getting worse by the day, especially with all the Repub. dominated states recently LOOSENING gun laws—-now allowed anywhere, everywhere, any time by anyone. It’s beyond idiotic, totally senseless. It’s Wild West all over again, uncivilized.
Rahm has not had a good week. Even in my estimation, and I’m rooting for the guy big time. I didn’t expect perfection from him and have continually warned my husband to take in stride when he has to pick his battles. But he’s had a bad week, and the decision to change the police chief may have come back to haunt him.
The sun was shining today, then it started to rain, Romney blame President Obama. I’m just waiting for Romney to blame President Obama for him putting his dog on top of his car. I’m waiting for Romney to say I’m a lying flip flopper politicians who will say anything I think the people want to hear, in hopes of winning, but it’s all Obama’s fault.
Santorum made the comment that Puerto Rico needed to speak English before becoming a state whereas Romney said the Puerto Ricans would decide if they wanted to be a state or not and if they decided they wanted statehood he would as President help them. Romney sounded better to the PR than Santorum. Even Santorum’s designated delegate said he would not vote for him. PR does not vote in the GE. Only states vote in the GE.
We laugh about the Puerto Rico primary, but I read earlier in the week that a great number of Puerto Ricans are now living in FL and could make FL more in play for Mittens.
My question is that: Puerto Ricans are citizens. They can move to FL and vote like any other citizen, without statehood. I seem to recall that statehood was not a monolithic issue in 2008, but maybe it is for Republicans in Puerto Rico. Anyway, there was a decent article somewhere (please don’t ask my migrained-brain to try to track it down) that made the case that this could go Mittens good in the general in FL.
Of course, maybe PBO and Dem’s are for statehood, too. So maybe Floridians now realize they elected a Medicare cheat of enormous proportions as governor who hates creating jobs or doing anything reasonable for his state.
Does anyone doubt that Rubio is on the short list for V.P.? I’d place big money that he will be Romney’s running mate.
It depends on the proportion of those Puerto Ricans that are Republicans – if they lean Dem which most of them do, then it bodes worse for Romney. Puerto Ricans by and large are not the same voting bloc as Cubans. And right now Obama leads mittens among Latinos 70% to 14% – and that includes PuertoRicans.
I brought it up because I’d read what seemed like a rational article. What I forgot to say (and you reminded me): in recent polls Latinos in general are more concerned with jobs and health care.
Just a small bit of my opinion here. Some Cubanos consider themselves “a cut above” other Latinos. Cubanos have also tended to be Republican because they blamed JFK for the failed Bay of Pigs, they felt Republicans were harder on Communism & they have usually enjoyed favored immigration status especially under Republicans. If ‘Robme’ chooses Rubio for his VP, he may get a rude awakening
Cubanos & Puerto Ricans do not live in the same kettle of fish & neither do the Latinos primarily from Mexico & South America. These GOP can’t tell the difference.
desertflower, I’m glad it’s 5am and I haven’t eaten anything to throw up. You mean to tell me the racists holier than thou candidate want to turn alittle blah.
I just listened to the 911 tapes concerning Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman and my goodness. The screaming from the child is heartbreaking. You just hear him screaming “Help! Help! Help me! Help! Help! Help! Help!” and then you hear a gunshot and the screaming stops. The neighbors who called were freaked out and begging the cops to come saying they saw a black teen dead on the floor and a man standing over him and then the man calmly walking away. The neighbors just kept begging over and over and over again for the cops to come and that they hear a voice that sounds like a male child screaming “Help!” over and over again. How the heck has due process not occurred?
This case is disturbing on so many levels. From that control freak and racist Zimmerman to the corrupt law enforcement who abetted him in pushing that BS “self-defense” line.
If any of you are ever running for public office, please ban robocalls. They make people hate you and vow to never vote for you. They even turn people off from voting entirely. Received a call every 10 minutes today from Willard campaign. The last one was Mike from the Romney campaign who had some really bad secrets to tell me about Santorum, but I didn’t stick around to hear the dirt. I already know Ricky’s Icky Trickies.
And this is how they are when they are somewhat restrained and trying not to do the ultimate damage to their party. Imagine how bad it will be when the General Campaign begins, and they want to destroy President Obama. No matter what the polls say or how good the mood might be right now, never underestimate how ugly this election will get. And stay focused.
I just saw 21 Jump Street and it was actually really funny. 3 of the five original cast made cameos (the 2 missing were Dustin Nguyen and Richard Grieco) It had some real laugh out loud moments and some great “oh shit” moments and dare I say some great comedic acting, who knew Channing Tatum could be both hot and funny?
The added bonus for me, as I was looking at the movie I kept seeing these landmarks that I seemed to recognize, then half way through, I realized it was New Orleans. I was way too excited to realize that the action sequences were all in NOLA. I know, sad right.
Need some help. Today I spent the day phone banking. On the way home I called my husband and he said did you hear? The repubs have a new long commercial out claiming the President Obama is in cahoots with Wall Street. Then I got home and started entering my data when I get a phone call-robo from Huckelberry. I listened and then pressed one when prompted. All during the robo I was called a conservative (what!!!) then the staff member came on and asked me what I thought. I said are you a PAC? Oh, no, we aren’t. Where do you get your funding? From individual donors. Yea right. Well this seems to be the talking point (BS) du jour. What can I do? Send me some talking points. I have a great writing team that will get on this now. I just need the information. Help!
Ok, I call Huckabee huckelberry because, well, just because it comes to mind when I see him. If my husband hadn’t just seen a repub commercial about the same subject, I probably would have hung up. I stayed on the call just to see where they were taking it. I wanted to know what pac was paying for it. They called me a conservative–which means they must be calling everyone. My ofa team has a writing team who prides themselves on responding timely to new points. I just thought someone could help me gather the facts and some links about President Obama/wallstreet. thanks anyway
Okay, I must have misinterpreted your request for talking points – you are wanting talking points for the people you call when you phonebank, and not the GOP callers, right? If that’s the case, then my apologies to you. I do agree with Tien Le that you can gain insights into what the callers are trying to accomplish by listening to them. I just don’t think we should be giving them our talking points for them to go back and find ways to work around it.
I have seen the commercial that your husband is referring to. It’s not very convincing (like many of the GOP’s anti-Obama ads put out there). Everyone who is conscious enough to vote knows that Mitt Romney is Wall Street’s guy by a wide margin. So if they’re gonna decide to not vote for PBO, it’s not because of Wall Street, it’s probably for some other reason.
Talking points about where the Obama campaign gets its money. How are the repubs claiming it comes from wallstreet? Real facts. This is where the gop is going this week.
Remember how we used to say that the only time the GOP and the Religious Right cared about people was when they were in the womb. Well, with trans-vaginal ultrasounds that run the risk of spontaneously causing abortions, trying to pass laws giving doctors the right to withhold information from a mother about the health of her fetus/unborn child, and trying to pass laws that deny women prenatal care–I think we can say definitively now that the Right don’t even care about the unborn any more. Chances are pretty good that they never did, but now it’s out in the open just how callous they are toward all forms of life except their own, and maybe not even then.
The disgusting Baby-A-Year Duggar Family, part of an extremist Christian sect trying to populate the country with their brand of nutball religious whackos, will be campaigning with Lil Ricky in Illinois tomorrow. Can’t wait. Maybe they have another announcement. Offspring are now continuing the procreation extravaganza alongside mom who is submissive to dominant husband and will accept “whatever God has planned” even tho her health has been gravely threatened. Goofballs.
Bless our First Family
Wow I’m First 🙂
Congrats Donna, and g’morning!
Thanks and Good Morning HF2 and all of TOD!
w00t! 🙂
Hooray! Hi ya doin’? Are my e-mails getting through? Am I sending too many? Let me know.
Congrats Donna!
You are first, DD4O, looks good on you, too! 😉
Donna = winner!
Oh My!
Why thank you Chica!!!
Mr. President looking as FINE as ever!
It’s Sunday, why are you putting these thoughts in my head????
Sorry 😉
🙂
Look at Miss Sasha, growing like a weed and looking more and more like her mama every day.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
I agree, she is quite beautiful.. and her hair style is perfect.
It’s absolutely gorgeous. My goodness look how fast she’s growing.
yes she has really shot up in growth.. and her sparkling eyes.
Yes it is perfect. It says ‘Sasha’!
Our little “Rosebud” her SS name.
hello Hachiko….
I was just thinking how beautiful Sasha is and how much she has grown….
i also noticed how well protected the First Family…that makes me feel good…
Hachiko, when I saw the picture that is the first thing I said also. Look at Miss Sasha growing like a weed.
Wow – Sasha has had a growth spurt! Love that family!
Judith Fardig, I feel the same way about our First Family. I, who was not crazy over dogs have fallen for Bo.
So true. I love to see the family holding hands; love, protection, and guidance. I miss Big Sister.
Isn’t that Malia in the first pic behind with the umbrella?
I think that person might be First Grandmother-in-Chief!
Or a pedestrian lucky enough to be on the same footpath, looks like…
I think you’re right Pamela – now that the other pics have been added. It’s someone else!
Apparently not Malia or Grandmom Robinson. Red coat, umbrella lady looks more official or secret service-like, especially since she’s walking in a different direction in the next picture. Plus, the way she’s carrying that umbrella, I wouldn’t want to mess with her!! 😯
Isonprize, are we twins today? Sounds like it from our observations and comments! 🙂 🙂
I don’t see a woman in red with an umbrella. Maybe I’m looking at this late and the pictures have changed. 😦
Oh my gosh, Sasha is growing up so fast……….
June 10th
Sasha is adorable. Just adorable. I’m so glad that they have let them be girls. Not dressing them like grown women. And clue on where they went to church? If I recall, there is a church across the street from the White House that they have attended frequently.
They are even sensitive about that. I remember PBO saying that he wanted to attend church but didn’t like that his attendance made such a disturbance for the other church-goers.
I just read on the White House site that they went to St. John’s Episcopal Church today.
and just when did little sasha grow up? wow, she looks so much older this morning. beautiful family.
Wonderful Sunday photos, Chipsticks, thank you so much! 🙂
Sasha is really growing up fast. What an adorable child.
I think Sasha had a bit of a growth spert since the holidays. I was wondering if she was ever going to catch up with her big sis.
I really love Sasha’s hair it’s really cute
I agree, just lively and smart, perfect for her age, lamh31.

=================================

Forget Afghanistan war, rising gas prices, Bush tax cuts, repeal of DOMA, jobs creation, climate change….
Having two teenage girls will be PBO’s “Katrina!” 🙂 🙂 🙂
🙂 Actually I was being silly with this comment – I’m sure the girls are great and that PBO will be fine.
Topping in at 5’1″, we also ued the word petite for my mom, my sister and myself! No problem!
*used
Looks like we have a site full of powerfull munckins. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Yardarm. YOU AIN’T RIGHT!!! LOLOLOL talking like that, you better watch out. These “powerful munchkins” will knock you in your knees!!
I have no doubt. But I say that with love in my heart.
I know; I am not quite 5′ 4 and to think that a pre-teen is taller than I am is a bit lowering (sigh), but she came by it honestly; everyone except Grandma and Maya are tall.
Grammar check “is…tall.”
You know, a lot of actresses/female singers are about your height.
I say 5’2, 5’3 but I’m not the best judge of height.
How tall is President Obama?
6’1”
6’1 1/2; Michelle is 5’10 3/4
6’1
Wow, Sasha has grown into a beautiful young lady at this moment!! What a gorgeous family. I’m blown away.
Nice hairstyle on Sash. Showing off the curls I see.
Aw, Daddy’s Girl. Sasha looks so grown up with her new hairdo.
Good morning all 🙂
BTW, here’s something funny, I’m 42, and my mother still holds my hand when we walk down the street.Especially when we cross the road!!! LOL 😀
You’ll always be her baby. 🙂
oh, pinkbunny.
Hahahaha 😆
OMG Isonprize, I still do it! My sons are 32 years old and over 6 feet tall. 😆
I do that when I am driving and my grown daughters are in the car with me. So this is a common trait amongst good mommies.
Wow, how did Sasha grow up so fast–in front of our eyes? Just look at her in the “Road We’ve Traveled” video.
I know, huh? My niece is the same age, they both will be eleven years old this year. They were born 2001 the year of 9/11 and these young women will be a force to deal with. They give me so much hope for the future.
GEORGE CLOONEY IS A TREASURE
George Clooney on Sudan: ‘It Gets in Your Bloodstream’
By: Larisa Epatko
===============================================

One of the clerks passed out.
“11. October 3: Darted around the Store suspiciously while loudly humming the ‘ Mission Impossible’ theme.”
“This tape will destroy itself in 10 seconds”.
Unfortunately, the current generation won’t understand what “tape” means, and I am too old to remember the theme.
Otherwise, spot on !
An oldie but a goodie, Yardarm!
It’s the best read I’ve had since morning. Thank you for the laugh (lol).
LOL!! Thanks for the chuckle this morning, Yardarm!
Hahahaha…….you crack me up Sir.
🙂 Better than the morning funnies.
Thanks Pamela and Yardarm. This was my laugh for today!!

Cute!
ha ha ha ha ha!! 🙂
Classic! lol Good one Jessica!
Wow, Sasha is growing up fast, Almost her mom’s shoulder high now.
Almost? More like just past…check out pic#6. 🙂
My bad. 🙂
Finally, Gramps says something sensible:
Well he would be the best judge seeing that he wrote the blueprint with that VP pick 4 years ago and gave her the greenlight to be as nasty as possible to rile up the Republican base and so now that’s all they respond to.
This years clowns are just picking up from where he and Palin left off!
McCain is only concerned that Newt and Santorum are being mean to Mittens. He doesn’t care that it’s his chosen candidate whose super Pac is the most negative ever. And if I recall correctly McCain was against the Dems bill to make super Pacs publish the names of their donors.
That’s true. He’s only concerned about protecting Romney’s weak lying arse.
Hey John, you should kick yourself in the ass a few times for OK’ing this type of lying and talking with your own campaign.
‘you, sir, are in big part responsible. Be a man and at least admit it.’
57, you do realize what you’re asking McCain to do is not possible for him, don’t you? Just checking.
Seriously? McCain’s an asshat.
Wow. Is this beautiful young lady the precocious child from the campaign days? Lovely.
Wow…the gate guard reminds me of Daddy Warbucks….I had to look twice.
remember the Prayer Breakfast (probably 2 years ago) when President Obama siad he looks at his kid (or children?) and prays that their skirts grow longer as the day goes by? I have prayed for many things in my life but for clothing to grow on a person – I can safely say no.
I’m sure he was joking
Ms Sasha is all patriotic in her red, white, and blue!

Roland has sold his soul to CNN, and in the process, he has to be anti Obama, for that’s the deal in order to keeps his job! Bottom line!
He was suspended from CNN long ago..and haven’t seen him on CNN for a while now..I hope they just fire him…but he sure making lots of $$ with his book all about PBO presidency
He’s been back at CNN for several weeks now.
I didn’t know Hope…..I don’t watch CNN…thanks for the info..I will email him today
Good for you Kasai, and just a gentle warning: He’s very arrogant and defensive and has a retort for every tweet that is not kissing his ass.
I sent him some DM…I am surprised he hasn’t blocked me (Yet)…lol
Kasai I feel you.
Thanks BJW2, I saw him yesterday, trying to make it all about PBO, he’s a worthless piece of @$@$@%
You’re welcome Kasai….Roland can sometimes display a immature nature in his responses when being challenged.
I read some of his tweets responding to those who were calling him out, and I thought, and you got the nerve to put Journalist after your name.
He’s no Journalist…he’s just an attention seeker…book seller idiot with HUGE EGO
I thank you for the support and kindness your spirit takes me….”I simply Love you” (((Hugs))
kasai, know that you are not alone in your feelings. My heart breaks for Trayvon’s mother and family.
HZ, thank you so for your words of wisdom. We are a family here. Your words always bring solace to many of us. Always know you are in my prayers. We need your words!
Honestly, what a family we have here. It makes my heart happy 🙂 Hugs to all the amazing family here.
I think Roland Martin is becoming another Tavis Smiley. And I can’t stand Tavis.
What do Roland want? Everytime something happen for President Obama to get in the middle of it. Why don’t Roland do his job and bring attention to the case
Roland has a radio show and he is on CNN.
I think I’ll go light a candle for him.
that’s an excellent idea. Here’s the link if anyone else wants to:
http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=PBO
Maybe Roland needs to go on CNN and give an adaptation of “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not gonna take it anyomre” freakout moment.
A real man don’t wait for another man to say what needs to be said!
Hell to freeze over. That particular job is for someone else’s kids.
There you go 🙂 !
I’m would pay for someone to shout that response out to him at one of his town halls.
RT’d yez
AMEN TALLY
Yes, Tally. RT’d as well.HZ
Bravo, Tally! Isn’t it amazing how brave these GOPs pretend to be when they are sending other people’s children to fight their wars?
I must say I love the photo of Sasha with the serious look. My mother says about her, she will be the one who speaks truth to power.
When PBO said that he learned about Kony killing from his daughters..and spoke about Rush insulting Sara, He thought about his daughters..It speaks volume that with out a doubt.. Malia and Sasha are very aware of what’s going on…and they will be a force not to be recon with , as they follow and live a perfect example of their parents… Let there be no doubt that the OBAMA’s are here to say long after their father is out the white house….I can dream of President Maila Obama…..can’t I 🙂
……or a Supreme Court Justice Malia Obama being swore into by SOS Chief Justice Hillary Clinton.
Oh!!! what a vision:-) I’ve been blessed to see PBO being elected and to be in this era..is something that my generation will read in history books..Long live the Obamas!!!
Hi kasai,
I know what you’re mean and saying, but let’s be careful when we say that PBO heard about the Kony killings from Malia.
Thanks for clarifying Doreen..much appreciated:-)
oops * stay
ok – I’ve been under a rock. Where is Melia? Off doing something awesome?
And in other Off Topic news, say a little prayer for Bolton player Fabrice Muamba – 23 year old Bolton footballer (and father) who collapsed on the pitch with a heart attack, and is in critical condition.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2116668/Fabrice-Muamba-update-Bolton-midfielder-remains-critical-condition.html
Hi Tally,
So sorry to hear of Muamba’s dad’s heart attack, prayers to him and his family.
Muamba is the one who had the heart attack, not his father. Muamba collapsed in the middle of the game yesterday and was not breathing, and transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Oh my God, a 23yr old having a heart attack? Prayers to him and his family.
Love you,HZ
Adding him to my prayer list Tally!
That is AWESOME!!! 😀
Tough gig being the cool Auntie! 🙂
What a tragedy! I will be praying for his speedy recovery. It’s such a shock that such a young man, and top notch athlete, had a heart attack! His family, friends, and his fellow players, are all in my thoughts and prayers because they certainly are going through a horrendous time.
My president, first lady, and first daughter WALKING to church together. Awesome. Sasha is gorgeous and I love, love her outfit.
ObamaGrandmama, I pray that God’s hands of divine healing will hold you through the surgery and recovery period.
REMINDER: FLOTUS will be on David Letterman tomorrow night, Monday, March 19th.
I don’t think the SS are doing their jobs well. There’s a menacing looking squirrel darting furtively around them as they walk to church in one of those pictures and no one is tackling it!
he he he
LOL
I bet First Doggie Bo Obama will get that squirrel.
Holder emerges as sharp, vocal opponent of voter ID laws
http://www.thegrio.com/politics/holder-emerges-as-sharp-vocal-opponent-of-voter-id-laws.php
[article and video of extended interview]
Read Perry Bacon Jr’s article here:
http://www.thegrio.com/specials/perry-on-politics/the-black-vote-five-states-where-obama-needs-a-big-african-american-turnout.php
tweeted that to all 5 ofa’s in their respective states – thanks Dudette!
Way cool, Alice!
AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!
Aaamen.
Count me in.
THISSSSSSSS
Lynn Sweet that “journalist” from the Chicago Sun Times is getting a good deal of push back from the Twitterverse and a lot of TOD Twitterers! Way to go guys! here’s her original post. Great example of a journalist willing to carry water for the GOP Clown Car Crazies
She posted an “update” with a fact check after we pushed back on that original tweet.
gah! she’s an egghead! Good for you! I got in on one of those two. I’ll go see if there’s any more to look at.
I have never like her…. I clearly remember her claiming that then Senator Obama was somehow involved in what was becoming a scandal with Blago….
It was way early in PBO’s campaign…..
Plus Sweet was instrumental in setting up the conference with Rev. Wright at the National Press Club. Can you say SABOTEUR???
ha, funny. This is what I sent her after a4alice post above:
She must’ve gotten quite a bit of feedback. Think I’ll also send her this youtube link:
yay! good Lunarsea
The gop is so living in the dark ages they forget we have the ability to actually record video with sound. Or so it would seem, no?
Well, you know the internet is like a series of tubes…….
CAUSES FOR RISING GAS PRICES
There was an interesting discussion on high gas prices this morning on Up Wtih Chris Hayes.
Rising gas prices are putting a strain on average Americans but could they be a sign of an economic recovery? CNBC contributor Dan Dicker and author Antonia Juhasz join UP to discuss the causes behind the increased prices.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/46774984#46774984

CFTC CHAIRMAN BART CHILTON ON DODD-FRANK AND HIGH GAS PRICES
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/46691161#46691161
(Commissioner Bart Chilton discusses the delaying tactics. He starts around 4:45 into the video)
The Democrats need to put this video out, so that the media can see it and the Fox right wing audience can see it.
Of course the media knows that President Obama is not responsible for the gas prices going up, but the media rather keep pushing the Republicans agenda.
Bravo, Lunar Sea! These media people act as if they are suffering from amnesia.

Click on the tweet you’re interested in, then click on “details” which is near the time stamp. Then copy that URL and paste where needed. Hope this helps 🙂
Sorry hopefruit2 that dog won’t hunt for me. “Details” doesn’t come up on my version of tweeter.
That’s odd…shouldn’t we all have the same version of Twitter!? The word “details” which is also a clickable link is not immediately visible until you actually open the tweet and then look further down near the time stamp. Layout looks something like this:
Jeff Sun Tzu @JeffersonObama Close
Obama Lags in Big Money Donors http://tinyurl.com/86o7xmf

Reply Retweet Favorite
“Open” the tweet first
once it’s open, you will see ‘details’ on the right of the line above the last line.
copy the url
paste the url in a comment here.
Okay. I finally see the word “details”. I’ll work on me skills later when the site ain’t so busy. I’m trying to be like my hero Bobfr. 😉
Hey Yardarm this is what you do.
1. When you put your mouse over the tweet “Open” appears and you can click on “Open” which makes all the details of the tweet open up. Or you can just click on the tweet and it does the same.
2. When the tweet is open, you’ll see “Details” right next to the time of the tweet, the date the tweet was constructed and the tool the person used to construct the tweet. Example: 5:25PM 18 Mar 12 via Web. Or 5:25PM 18 Mar 12 via Twitter for iphone.
3 Click on “Details” when you click on “Details” it takes you to another page where all you see is the tweet.
4. In the address bar, click on the url. Right click with your mouse. Select “Copy” Copy the url. Come to TOD and right click again, select “Paste” the tweet’s url will appear in the TOD comment box. When you click on “Post Comment” your tweet will appear in a white box like everyone else’s tweets you’ve been seeing.
I hope this helps and if it doesn’t please let me know and I’ll walk you step by step again. 🙂
Tks ut. I got it.Sorry I’m late getting back to you. It’s Sunday and I’m lazy.
I just know that Sasha is enjoying having Mummy and Daddy all to herself so to speak.
yardarm..if you peek in here, I bet this is why you got a surprise rebate check from your health insurance……

That’s too bad, it seemed like a lot of TOD’ers were going. Maybe next time, we wear something specific to identify ourselves with?
Hi Betsy without the 2nd E. Glad you got to say your final goodbye and spend time with your family. May he live forever in you and in all who knew him and may you always feel his loving presence.
Thank you LunarSea.
Sasha looks like her father.
She looks more like FLOTUS’ Father to me.
It you see the video that Mrs. Robinson did during the campaign about raising her family and pictures of Michelle when she was a little girl, it’s like looking at Sasha. Sasha looks so much like her Mom in my opinion.
Ditto. Couldn’t believe it when I saw the pic – spitting image of FLOTUS as a lil girl.
Yes, she does look a lot like Madelyn Dunham.
She looks like a mix of both her paternal and maternal grandmothers (madelyn and Marion)!
Ha! Ha! Ha! I hope Elizabeth Warren kick his butt in November.
Me too…..
He stole that from Conan..
Check out these Obama shoes for women….
http://www.obama-shoes.com/women-obama-shoes-c-3.html
that’s crazy their all sold out!
I saw that. I want a pair. I hope that they get more in stock.
To be honest, they look a little “knock-off”ish to me, and it makes mewonder who’s getting the profits?Something tells me it’s not OFA.
I don’t think the profits go to OFA either.
And they say ’08…not 2012…
check out this petition that I saw on Twitter. Signed
Liberal Librarian…I’m catching up on reading and really enjoyed your latest TPV post. Well done.
Yesterday I was asked would I repost the link to the ACA/Promises kept wallet-sized cards for people to print and hand out to voters. http://otrainofthought.wordpress.com/2012/01/06/memory-cards/
that’s awesome Tien! cool! RT’d
She’s always been natural. She just decided to rock loose curls today. It’s a good look. She should rock it more often.
She’s still Daddy’s little girl.
I love this family.
Sasha is soo talk and it looks like she’s no completely lost the baby fat. I can’t believe they’re growing so fast and so much! I wonder why Malia didn’t go. She probably had a test to study for or didn’t feel well.
***tall****
I finally found out how tall President Obama is. President Obama is 6″1 and First Lady Michelle is 5″11.
Wow. This is fantastic!
Yes Theo that was my reaction 🙂 This was such a brilliant idea…I was in awe that there many repubs stuck on fox..that replied in such a positive way…
cool I’m going over there to check it out! I need a bump 🙂
I’m just mulling that film over this am—-
Auni. . . can you give me the link?
I love our first family!!! 🙂

wow thx DF
For once, read the comments: they are awesome.
http://planetpov.com/2012/03/18/a-psychiatrists-perspective-his-work-is-not-done-our-need-is-still-real/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+planetpov%2Fmfkm+%28PlanetPOV%29&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher
Read the whole thing. It is beautiful.
Most of those people were regulars at Huffington years ago……I recognize their user names…..
If I remember correctly…the person who started that site was a pissed off huffpo member…and huffpo blocked every comment that linked to the planet…..
I saw this earlier today but so many more comments! thx Tweeted.
OMG…..What is Rahm going to do about this ?
Rahm has not had a good week. Even in my estimation, and I’m rooting for the guy big time. I didn’t expect perfection from him and have continually warned my husband to take in stride when he has to pick his battles. But he’s had a bad week, and the decision to change the police chief may have come back to haunt him.
Santorum is behind by 80 points in Puerto Rico. To Mittens.
That’s eighty points, or 6000 votes!
So?
So buttons!
Buttons for Mittens.
You know what mittens said? He blamed that Fool shooting 16 people on the President.
What a fucking loser!
Is there anything that Mittens doesn’t blame on PBO?
The sun was shining today, then it started to rain, Romney blame President Obama. I’m just waiting for Romney to blame President Obama for him putting his dog on top of his car. I’m waiting for Romney to say I’m a lying flip flopper politicians who will say anything I think the people want to hear, in hopes of winning, but it’s all Obama’s fault.
Robney projected winner.
What a weird primary…
LOL! He’s buying the GOP primary. It won’t work for the general, though.
Just sayin’.
I
I brought it up because I’d read what seemed like a rational article.
Axelrod-
If Mitt thinks he is a economic heavyweight, he must be looking at a funhouse mirror!
Perfect!
In a funhouse mirror you can be anything you want to be, perfect for Myth Romney.
Moment of EWWWWWWWW. Little Ricky sunbathing in Puerto Rico. DO NOT SPIT FOOD.
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/slideshow/Rick-Santorum-Shirtless-Politician-13781849
I can’t even look. He’s bad enough when clothed.
i saw this yesterday but there was a hunky photo of PBO on the beach to counteract it. So I won’t look! 😉
The hunky photo is tempting, but not quite enough to make me look!
🙂
desertflower, I’m glad it’s 5am and I haven’t eaten anything to throw up.
DO NOT buy anything at Home Depot
Dotster! I thought the same thing! I don’t have to buy anything there – it’s not gonna break my heart!
If not for the actions of President Obama to restore the economy, there wouldn’t be ANY people shopping at Home Depot. This billionaire has a nerve!
doster..
I don’t think he is involved with Home Depot anymore…..I think he was just the money man behind it and is long gone,
Thanks dotster!
#PRESSON
Dang, I’m running out of places to buy stuff. What the hell is wrong with these idiots. Don’t they like having customers?
Help!
Who is “Huckelberry?” And on whose behalf did they say they were calling?
And why would you need to talking points to give to a robo-caller? Simply say no thanks, and hang up the phone.
Huckabee
Okay thx Tien. I don’t think it’s a good idea to engage ANY GOP robocaller on the phone.
Why not? It gives us insight into what they’re trying to accomplish and allows us to learn what lies they’re using. It also wastes their time.
These right wing folks are a bunch of sick bastards.
THIS!!!
LOL!
I really get that feeling with Ann Romney. I think she’s the motivator and motivated of that duo.
Chat away everyone:
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/03/18/chat-away-32/
The disgusting Baby-A-Year Duggar Family, part of an extremist Christian sect trying to populate the country with their brand of nutball religious whackos, will be campaigning with Lil Ricky in Illinois tomorrow. Can’t wait. Maybe they have another announcement. Offspring are now continuing the procreation extravaganza alongside mom who is submissive to dominant husband and will accept “whatever God has planned” even tho her health has been gravely threatened. Goofballs.
Who really gives a dam who those those people campaign for?
A big AMEN to that!!!
