Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am convinced that President Obama is prescient. He seems to predict things. This speech is one of those things. It’s like he knew that this country would expose the underbelly of nastiness and hatred that has always been there. He gave us something to soothe the thoughts and fears. I am so very glad that he works for the good and that he is on our side!

When you have contempt for education, a fear of anything that will contradict your prejudices and a 19th century world view, your children will not be learning. This is the future we all face if we make the wrong decision in this election.

They rank last in spelling, reading and comprehension too. Take a look at the blogs. Punctuation and grammar were not taught on the one day a week that they went to school. As for typing I will just leave that alone. I am not a good typist but the cap keys are used for shouting and not shouting.

The are so accustomed to lies, they don’t know what credibility means. And they don’t care. If enough ignorant people hear them and believe them, that’s all they want. They could care less about integrity and they could care less about the country. They’re corporate operatives working to deliver the US to their big daddies.

I’ve been arguing with fools all day over the Trayvon/Obama situation. They think Obama should publicly say something, and/or call his parents. I simply asked them: “How do you know he hasn’t called already?” I stumped them with that. They’re all assuming that Obama hasn’t called, but for all we know, he has. Sigh. :-/

    • March 18, 2012 at 11:45 pm

I agree with those who say that those who are trying to drag President Obama into this are horribly mistaken. President Obama cannot be expected to intervene in every criminal matter or injustice in this country. He has a full plate. Overflowing, in fact.

      • 27 anniebella
        March 19, 2012 at 4:39 am

President Obama need to stay out of this Trayvon matter, because all the media and Republicans will do is to try to use it against him in some way. Just stat the heck away from it POTUS. Let the people step up and do what they can, let the media do the right thing for once.

      March 19, 2012 at 12:00 am

I’m hearing and seeing the same thing and it’s so frustrating! What is the main reason they are saying that he should comment? Is it because the President happens to be black? The President should not insert himself into this until the investigation is complete and also this is where the “people” come into play. If they want justice, they need to hit the ground with Rev. Al and other grassroots organizations. As many have said here at TOD, remember what happened when he spoke up during the Gates incident. How well did that go over!

      • 29 Squarepeg
        March 19, 2012 at 8:17 am

The main reason they should comment Doreen is because it would make THEm feel better. The people saying this are self centered who have managed to make this whole thing about them, when it’s not. It’s not about them, it’s not about Obama. It’s about two heartbroken parents who want justice for their son.

    • 32 Brit
      March 19, 2012 at 12:14 am

Someone who does need to get involved in this situation is Eric Holder. What happened to Trayvon is something that happens to millions of black and hispanic kids often. Killed for their skin colors, and police departments not cooperating with the families, which is where Eric comes in.

      • 33 HZ
        March 19, 2012 at 2:12 am

Brit, how do we not know that Attorney General Holder’s DOJ has not gotten involved? And where is the force of the law that now places the DOJ in the proper place to now be involve? We have a system in this country, though it is not perfect, we still have a rule of law.

If and when we find that law to be unjust, then we find the proper sources that will abide by the law to make the wrong according to the law right. That is why it has been so imperative that we make those calls to our senators and the Judiciary Committee to push the judicial nominations fairly through the Senate to fill the benches that are now vacant within our many cities and states. Now that is a fact.

And the Attorney General, Eric Holder and the WH have been speaking out and asking the Senate to complete the approveal of a vote, up or down on these judges. We need these judges on the bench, not the President making another speech or phone call for the satisfaction of a few people who will not even pick up the phone to call their Senators in their states and any state for that matter to do their job.

We now have 17 nominations waiting in the Senate to get a fair vote up or down that is and be able to go and serve the people on the bench. Let us make some calls and speak out about that, so the likes of this young man and many, many more will at least have his/her family to be able to have their attorney to be able to go before a court of law that has a sitting judge to judiciously hear their case.

That is all that I am saying. We, the people. And please do not go there with me, I have called , e mailed, my Senators, other Senators, and the Chairman of the Judicial Committee, Patrick Leahy, and Senator Reid about this concern.HZ

I commented on POU, I’ll repeat it here.

PBO has no part in this. If PBO makes any comment before the DOJ gets involved to complete an investigation, even a half-way decent defense lawyer would claim bias, and that lawyer would be right!

What is it about the Right and their almost conspiracy theory mindset about oil in this country. I had a Tea Party person tell me that the U.S. has 12% of the world’s oil supply, but when pressed to prove it all she could do was come up with mumbo-jumbo oil terminology (she works for an oil company). They simply refuse to believe we only have 2% of the worlds PROVEN oil supply. The U.S. having an unlimited supply of oil and denying peak oil is turning into an article of faith with these people.

You know what Tien, when it comes to right wing teabaggers, facts and reason don’t matter! What matters to them is their deep-seated hatred of President Obama, and their unshakable faith in their right wing ideology as preached by FOX and right wing talk radio. While I still engage in spirited and rational conversations with people who identify themselves as Republicans, I absolutely avoid wasting my time with people who identify themselves as teabaggers. I must confess that I have the same problem with the “holier than thou leftist progressives” who follow people like Glenn Greenwald, Arianna Huffington, Adam Green, Cenk Uygur, and the rest. The “holier than thou leftist progressives,” better known as the “Professional left” are just as consumed with the hatred of President Obama as the teabaggers. Also, for many of them, reason and facts do not matter.

Romney is burning up vast amounts of money in this primary to win a race that should have been wrapped up a long time ago. And he’s running against a person who is so unqualified to be president, it’s laughable. Meanwhile, the president is racking up fundraiser after fundraiser and he’s using his resources to build up a powerful network of campaign offices in every state. When the time is right to flood the airwaves, he will do so. Republicans dismiss these efforts at their peril.

I have just been out on Youtube listening for about the 6th time to The Road We’ve Traveled. There are already over 1.3 million hits and the over 12,0000 comments are just incredible and awe inspiring. There are actually comments apologizing to the President for their impatience, forgetfullness, and lack of confidence. Yes there are a few negatives, but very few. I have been in tears listening and reading. This one comment, just made me cry even harder.

I am not old enough to vote, but when you first ran for president I was only in second grade, and when I think about now and how much things have changed and how my dad got his job back, I know you should be elected president again.

This single video has done more than hundreds of my phone calls and discussions. I will keep making them. But I will always refer people to this video! Love to all!

You are so articulate and wise. Your parents must be proud of you. I see a great future for you in whatever career you choose. Keep on telling your friends about the changes you have seen and when you are old enough to vote you will make a difference by making the right choice. I have seen the few negatives myself and they are written by people much older than you, who cannot write and articulate like you. That tells you a lot right there.

Dear TODers … as I’m sure you all realize … this is NOT hyperbole … We stand at the front line of an assault on the Republic of a scale greater than what the Union confronted in 1861 and America confronted on 8 Dec 1941. The Enemy are the white male plutocrats who definitively know that if President Obama is re-elected their gig is OVER.

Thus, our defense of the Republic is no less urgent or demanding of total dedication than what Syrians and others are sacrificing their lives 24/7 to achieve. Make no mistake … this is reality for America:

We Must Prevail on 6 Nov 2012.

You put it very clearly, Bob. This is not a normal election and people across the country had better wake up. We either choose democracy in 2012 or we become a plutocracy and have to take whatever our corporate lords choose to shove down our throats. Americans, as a nation, have never known what it’s like to have no voice whatsoever in what happens to us, but that’s the future we face if the right wing and its Romney puppet get elected. Some states with Republican governors, like those of us here in PA, are already experiencing a life in which harsh and mean-spirited decisions are forced on us. We either choose the bright future or the bleak one and there will be no turning back. Thank you for always making the message clear.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign raised more than $45 million in February, increasing its financial haul month-on-month as worries mount that Republicans could outspend Democrats in 2012.

In a statement released on Twitter, Obama’s campaign said 348,000 people contributed last month and 105,000 people gave money for the first time.

Nearly 98 percent of the month’s contributions were $250 or less, it said.

Does Sam Stein remember that at this point in 2008 the president was in a primary fight with Hilary Clinton and still facing some big swing states like PA. Everyone was riveted to the primary elections and contributed like crazy. People don’t feel any urgency to donate during a non contested primary. But they will during the election. It didn’t take a lot of deductive reasoning for me to figure that out. Why can’t someone like Sam Stein do that? Having close to 400,000 people contribute when they don’ think the race is on yet is a big deal.

Morning TOD. This is fantastic news! ACA is amazing. Hope PBO’s campaign team puts a laser focus on this wonderful law.

Almost 4 million seniors saved about $2.16 billion through discounts for their prescription medications in 2011, the Department of Health and Human Services plans to announce today.

“Before, many beneficiaries were forced to stop taking the drugs,” said Jonathan Blum, director of the Center for Medicare. “This reduces costs through better management.”

The 2010 health care law required a 50% discount on prescription drugs in the so-called doughnut hole, or the gap between traditional and catastrophic coverage in the Medicare drug benefit, also known as Part D. In 2012, the coverage gap is $2,930. The Affordable Care Act eliminates the doughnut hole by 2020.

In the first two months of 2012, about 100,000 people have received $92.7 million in discounts — about $904 per person.
In 2010, Medicare sent $250 rebate checks — totaling $846 million — to nearly 3.8 million seniors to try to counterbalance the gap.
The discount “is a very popular part of the Affordable Care Act,” Blum said. “It’s targeted to those most in need.”

Chelsea Piers is such a magnificent place for all types of sports activity inside and outside…..so much to do. She will be truly welcomed there. It is on the west side of Manhattan near the Hudson River. You can see New Jersey’s shoreline and the GW Bridge as you travel further uptown. Of course, MW is on the bottom (the bridge)…..I never cared for that joke all the years that I have lived here. I am sure a repug started it……maybe not.
But young girls like Malia and Sasha will make the world a much safer place for women, thanks to having loving and caring parents.

I looking forward to a brighter future for them because I am so sure that good always prevail over evil. God will make the enemy our footstool.
Before this election is over, they will turn on each other and be amazed at themselves how they end up voting this time around. It will not come easy. But as POB has often said change does not come easy.
Any woman who can sit by and allow this war against women prevail when they privately go inside the voting booth this time, has to understand this is “personal”. We are the voices for the women who live, breathe, sleep in silent pain. I am not bashing men at all. It is just the control thing that bothers me. Man did not create us. Why should they be allowed to dictate what goes in, out around our bodies and minds.
Why should they proclaim wars and rumors of wars that send our sons off to wars? I strongly believe it will be women who will stop wars. We are the ones who nurse the wounded bodies and hearts after these senseless wars.
And if you want to get religious about it(even though, I am spiritual not religious…we are all spiritual beings)…..it was the women who stay close to Jesus the Christ during, before and after the men on both sides started the war against him.

Did not mean to rant, but seeing the beautiful picture of Sasha brought out the little girl in me wishing that all girls could feel safe, love and protected at a young age and throughout young womanhood. So many of us have been hurt too young, too soon.
