so, who’s tuning in tonight?

Friend –

You signed up to watch the premiere of the new documentary The Road We’ve Traveled, which will take you inside President Obama’s first term.

Tonight at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, click this link to our YouTube page to start watching.

The President made some tough calls to bring our country back from the brink — and this film, directed by Academy Award winner Davis Guggenheim, captures it perfectly.

Over the next few months, we’ve got to make sure as many people as possible see this film — because when they do, they’ll come away knowing just how much is riding on the outcome this November. This film is going to be a great way to get them involved now.

So click here tonight at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time to get your first look.

Right after the film, senior strategist David Axelrod will be answering questions. You can submit yours on Twitter using this hashtag: #RoadTraveled.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Maybe you can talk them into watching it with you with a little restructuring 😉 – 1/2 hour warm-up (minutes, etc), WATCH VERY PERTINENT video 20-30 minutes, then a feel good backslapping session before continuing with rest of meeting. Would probably be their most productive meeting in a while. You never know L & L, there might already be others there who didn’t want to miss this ‘premiere’! 😉

Manchester United’s bid to win a first Europa League title came to a juddering halt on Thursday after they were beaten 2-1 at Athletic Bilbao in the second leg of their last-16 tie.

The result gave Marcelo Bielsa’s effervescent young side a richly deserved 5-3 aggregate victory, following last week’s equally impressive 3-2 win in the first leg at Old Trafford.

I’ll be watching and entering comment after comment about why I support President Obama (after entering to win dinner)!

Here is my latest (of 5):
This is another reason I support President Obama (from the StonekettleStation blog):
posted by Jim Wright on March 5th:

Here’s the bottom line, folks: What it comes down to is this, Rush Limbaugh attacked a young woman for exercising her right to address Congress. A lot of people in positions of power on both the left and the right condemned Limbaugh for his thuggish tactics, some more strenuously and sincerely than others, but in the final accounting only one American leader stepped forward to offer support and defense to the victim. It wasn’t a Senator or a Representative. It wasn’t those CEOs and business leaders. It wasn’t those four sorry bastards seeking the White House.

And it sure as bloody hell wasn’t any hypocritical Christian leader or prominent clergyman.

No, when the mob gathered to watch and jeer while a bully beat up the weak and helpless, it was the President of the United States who stepped forward.

It was Barack Obama who called Sandra Fluke personally and offered his support.

And that, right there, says everything you need to know.

Hey guys you know the KONY 2012 campaign that has been going viral on Twitter, Facebook, and worldwide to bring a universal spotlight on LRA and war criminal Joseph Kony of Uganda. Well PBO and George Clooney had a discussion about Kony today in the white house in addition to their discussions about the situation in Sudan and South Sudan and PBO mentioned to George that like so many parents all over the world, he found out about the KONY 2012 movement from his daughter Malia. Looks like we’ve got some young activists in the white house. Like parents, like children. 🙂

      • 84 hopefruit2
        March 15, 2012 at 5:45 pm

Well in this case I think it’s a appropriate because it’s not so much about Malia as it’s about the cause which is being publicly discussed at the moment.

      • March 15, 2012 at 6:00 pm

I don’t mind stories like this which make clear that Malia is a compassionate, caring, aware daughter.

I like the stories but if anyone is going to talk about the Obama girls I only want it to be their family members (mom, dad, grandma, auntie, uncle). I remember when Michelle was saying she need a thick manual to raise Sasha. That was funny but in this case it’s not ribbing or anything personal so it’s not that big of a deal.

    • March 15, 2012 at 5:52 pm

I adore Malia. She seems to have a deep passion and intellectual curiosity instilled by her parents, along with a terrific sweetness and sense of compassion. XOXO.

Giving Mitt Romney a warm welcome to the Illinois primary, the former White House chief of staff-turned-Chicago mayor went after him at a fundraising event:

You just take a look at the fortitude, the strength, the determination and the vision the president made on the auto industry, and juxtapose it to Mitt Romney, who doesn’t have the fortitude, the strength or the character, in my view, to stand up to Rush Limbaugh.

The Sun-Times adds this line: “If you can’t stand up to Rush, how are you gonna stand up to Russia?”

It’s a slightly more pointed version of what the Obama campaign has been saying on its own — actually dropping the word “character” in there seems like something of an escalation. Emanuel also referred to some of Bill Maher’s comments about women as “disgusting,” per the Sun-Times.

We’ll be watching here in IL at our Congressional Candidate’s office. If the primary vote goes as well for us on Tues as we expect, then we are in great shape to take down a very long-term Repub in November, in spite of all the Chamber and Rove money that will come blasting in. Redistricting can be our friend! By the way, Chips, loved the First Dog post so much that I just ordered the “I Bark for Barack” Bo Car Magnet from OFA for a friend’s birthday.

FLOTUS looked spectacular as usual. I didn’t like Samantha Cameron’s dress. I thought she looked dowdy for such a pretty young woman. If I had designed the dress I would have removed those awful sleeves & that belt. If she wanted a belt I would have made it metallic with some sparkle. I did love her shoes & I totally lust after all of Michelle’s shoes. If only I were young again and could still wear heels without falling on my ass!

Time out for a little risque’ humor.

    The Funniest Staff Meeting Ever!

The boss of a Madison Avenue advertising agency called a spontaneous staff meeting in the middle of a particularly stressful week. (This is one pretty sharp boss!) When everyone gathered, the boss, who understood the benefits of having fun, told the burnt out staff the purpose of the meeting was to have a quick contest. The theme: Viagra advertising slogans. The only rule was they had to use past ad slogans, originally written for other products that captured the essence of Viagra. Slight variations were acceptable.

About 7 minutes later, they turned in their suggestions and created a Top 10 List.. With all the laughter and camaraderie, the rest of the week went very well for everyone! The top 10 were:

    10. Viagra, Whaazzzz up!

    9. Viagra, The quicker pecker picker upper.

    8. Viagra, like a rock !

    7. Viagra, When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight.

    6. Viagra , Be all that you can be.

    5. Viagra, Reach out and touch someone.

    4. Viagra, Strong enough for a man, but made for a woman.

    3. Viagra, Home of the whopper!

    2. Viagra, We bring good things to Life!

And the unanimous number one slogan:

    1. This is your peepee… This is your peepee on drugs 😀

    • March 15, 2012 at 6:09 pm

    • 165 Ladyhawke
      March 15, 2012 at 6:47 pm

Don’t you love it? As far as Mitt Romney is concerned, President Obama is a disaster. But in the meantime Mitt is copying everything President Obama does. They are trying to do exactly what he did in the 2008 campaign with the focus on delegates. He tries to sing. He holds babies like they are a sack of potatoes. He is copying the dinner idea. I am waiting for him to copy the film. I bet they are working on Mitt’s film as we speak. Bottom line, there is nothing creative or original coming from the Romney team.

      • March 15, 2012 at 7:45 pm

You got to love it. Barack Obama is so terrible, yet I want to copy what he does. It was the same thing with John McCain in 2008. What candidates like Mitt Romney don’t get is that it isn’t just the campaign, its the candidate. When people genuinely like you, I mean generally LIKE you, they gravitate to you. FDR,JFK, even Ronald Reagan had that likeability factor. They would enjoy your company at dinner. As you can see, Mitt Romney looks as though he is just pissing those people off. Like he’s a nuisance and they would really enjoy their dinner more if he left. You don’t see anyone going to Mitt and giving him a hug or just throwing up camera phones and getting him to take a photo with him. He doesn’t seem like he’s approachable. Barack Obama will wipe the floor with these guys because of that.

Good evening, TOD! Can’t wait for the show tonight!

I’ll get this out of the way, so I don’t have Santorum in my brain later this evening, but so far – have ya noticed – I see he’s going to outlaw three new things in our country, if (ha ha ha ha ha) he ever gets to be president (like when all the other 300M die off):

    1. Contraception (we knew that)
    2. Speaking Spanish in Puerto Rico (funny how other countries think it’s cosmopolitan and sexy to know more than one language)
    3. I actually heard him quoted today as saying “They should outlaw teleprompters” (BFD to worry about, Ricky)

Maybe he didn’t play sheriff enough when he was a boy, and now wants to get all these new laws in place!

Okay, I’ve washed my brain of that yokel, and I can’t wait to see the President tonight. Might even eat chocolate, while I’m watching it.

Dumbo GOP: Wake Up! If you think any Latino with 2 pesos worth of brains might actually vote for one of your disgusting candidates, you will have a rude surprise in November. It is too late now! We are not ready to “MAKE NICE” no matter what you try in the next 8 months.

Randi Rhodes played the trailer at the end of her show today and encouraged everyone to go to her homework section for the link to watch it. She also told everyone to tweet and spread it. She is such an advocate for PBO’s policies. She also linked the accomplishments from TPM and asked for their permission to put her logo and their log on it so that she could have her listeners print it out. She said that it folds to the size of a credit card. I hd one caller say that she had passed out several.

Bloomberg poll on rev AL’s show says 66% of Americans blame Oil companies for Pressure at the Pump and only 23% blame PBO…….. not bad. The issue isn’t who is to blame though, it’s Americans thinking that there is a quick solution that the president can engage in to solve pressure at the pump i.e.: more drilling which is pure. bull. shit.

I saw that on Rev Al’s show. Michael Steele was on Tweety’s show and said that the polls were against PBO on the gas issue, and that is the reason that He and VP Joe are hitting the campaign trail early. I laughed out loud. I am sooooo happy that VP Joe is out there calling names. 🙂

Seriously guys. I just discovered a little show on ABC called GCB ( originally meaning Good Christian *itches, but now modified to Good Christian Belles). It’s about this Texan born woman who moved to Cali with her HS boyfriend who made it big. They get married and live the life, have two kids, then he cheats on her with her bestfriend and dies in a fiery crash because said bestfriend was doing something she shouldn’t have been doing to the husband who was driving a car. So the protagonist is broke and has to move back to Texas to live in her old rich community in her mother’s house with her two children. When the protagonist was younger she was mean to 4 girls and now those four girls have formed a coalition, centered around their hatred of the protagonist. They go to church every sunday and can quote scripture like nobody’s business and two of the girls even sing on the choir. They are mean spirited and fake, even lied and stolen and use Christianity as an excuse for bad behavior. Apparently, FAUX News went on a rant about GCB which first aired on March 4, I guess cause they saw themselves being called out for flagrant hypocrisy. How can you talk about loving God but pull the shit that you do? I love this show. I find it hilarious because it’s not bashing religion, but the people who don’t understand religion but use it as a sledge hammer against other people. I’m surprised ABC had the guts to put this on the air. I’m also surprised the Christian Coalition aka repug party extension, hasn’t been boycotting ABC. Could it be that they are oblivious to the shows meaning? They don’t get that they are being mocked? Never thought that they were so thick. 🙄

I watch that show also Lisa and I 100% concur with your statement. They’re not mocking Christianity, they’re mocking faux Christians and Bible thumpers who use religion to justify their underhanded dealings. It’s a satire and a look at the under belly of society. It’s also quite hilarious.

As Gandhi said “I Like Your Christ. I Do Not Like Your Christians. Your Christians Are So Unlike Your Christ.”

Yes, I love it. Especially after seeing my 4 year old love when I watched Boomerang Robin Givens in it. Yep, thats the reason Fox News had a bitchfit over it. It tells of people like Newt and Rick who are as, like Marvin Winans at Whitney Houston’s homegoing said, “Christians Behaving Badly”

The Department of Health and Human Services announced on Thursday that it will cut off all Medicaid funding for family planning to the state of Texas, following Gov. Rick Perry’s (R) decision to implement a new law that excludes Planned Parenthood from the state’s Medicaid Women’s Health Program.

Cindy Mann, director of the Center for Medicaid and State Operations (CMSO), wrote Texas health officials a letter on Thursday explaining that the state broke federal Medicaid rules by discriminating against qualified family planning providers and thus would be losing the entire program, which provides cancer screenings, contraceptives and basic health care to 130,000 low-income women each year.

“We very much regret the state’s decision to implement this rule, which will prevent women enrolled in the program from receiving services from the trusted health care providers they have chosen and relied upon for their care,” she wrote. “In light of Texas’ actions, CMS is not in a position to extend or renew the current [Medicaid contract].”

The federal government pays for nearly 90 percent of Texas’ $40 billion Women’s Health Program, and nearly half of the program’s providers in Texas are Planned Parenthood clinics. But the new law that went into effect earlier this month disqualified Planned Parenthood from participating in the program because some of its clinics provide abortions, even though no state or federal money can be used to pay for those abortions.

According to Medicaid law, Mann said, a state cannot restrict women’s ability to choose a provider simply because that provider offers separate services — in this case, abortion — that aren’t even paid for by the Medicaid program.

Needing some help here: Tonight I read about a tv show on ABC – something to do with ‘Golden Belles’ or “Gold Plated Belles” – about a young woman who moves away from Texas and moves back as a single mom who is then targeted by some ‘mean girls’ in her town. I wanted to look for it, and now I can’t remember the title clearly enough to get a hit on a search. I wish I had more than two or three memory brain cells left. Anyone here know what I’m talking about?
