Congrats Kasai. Oh, I love this one also. I was trying to be soooooooooo good today, but this calls for the ‘Naughty Mats.” Just kidding ladies, but Chips has not had to pull the mats out lately.

After that speech at the AIPAC Conference this morning(still looking refreshed and in command) this is just dessert. We love you, Mr. President, and we totally respect you. But we enjoy our fun as a family but holding you in the highest respect always.HZ

While Rush Limbaugh has offered his fake apology to Sandra Fluke for calling her a slut and a whore, it’s important to recall each of the 52 times last week when Rush insulted Fluke.

So I’ve ( not I, as in Me )compiled a comprehensive list, each of them linked to Limbaugh’s own transcript of what he said. Does one half-hearted apology make up for 52 smears?

It seems in the day of 24 hour news cycle & social media, Rush Limbaugh and others of his ilk, can’t get away with their usual BS!

Yeah, especially that cretin Patricia Heaton. She deleted her twitter account after the huge backlash she received but I hope more people keep tweeting, calling, and emailing @ABC and @TheMiddle_ABC. I read her tweets and the level of viciousness she aimed at Sandra Fluke and her parents was not only unprofessional but unbefitting of one woman to another woman.

First she injected herself into the Terry Schiavo case, then she went after Michael J. Foxx who has Parkinson’s disease and claimed he wanted to clone human beings and kill human babies, then she went on a tear against any one who called out Andrew Breitbart for his hate and fear mongering. Frankly, enough is enough.

              • March 4, 2012 at 5:32 pm

Wow I did not realize she was a habitual and serial moron!

Can’t believe she went after Michael J. Fox, what a total bitch!

              • March 4, 2012 at 5:50 pm

I think she is going to soon learn that a lot of folks have power to remove certain people or shows off the air. I didn’t mind that she was a Republican. She can support who she wants. However, I believe on this one she showed her ass, because this was a woman in the public eye who went after a humble and gracious private citizen. I just hope that she has saved all her money from Raymond, Back To You and this show or has made a lot of friends in Hollywood, because this could make her persona non grata in Hollywood to the point of her only being in Hallmark Channel movies.

Hi Bobfr and a4alice, Ms. Heaton has evidently forgotten that she is ‘a woman’ also. Rush insulted all women when he made that comment. How can a decent woman, mother, sister, grandmother Not get that. That is also a sad commentary on Ms. Heaton.

I suffered severly in my young days growing up as a girl, then on to college where I suffered, and finally during my first job, I found out that it was Endomitriosis. I had to be put on BC pills, then finally had to go through 3 surgeries as well..

I understand why and how much courage it took for Ms. Fluke to go and speak on behalf of her friend and millions of women. So, someone tell Mr. Rush, this is not a”humorous” thing. I do not accept that. Ms. Sandra Fluke should not be called a slut because she had the courage and fight in her to speak on behalf of those who can’t get that courage. I stand with her.HZ

HZ, I sympathize with your struggles and don’t mean to minimize them, but I guess I don’t care for what reason a woman uses BC pills. Even though I myself have been prudish in my life, I think every women can think for herself and use BC pills for whatever her choices are. I do not qualify it. Even if she is having wild sex with whomever she wants. It is not my business and certainly not RL or Patricia Heaton’s business.

                    March 5, 2012 at 1:35 am

Cindy Sweatt, thank you, however, I did not write my comment to receive sympathy from anyone. I simply wrote to give an example of the fact that at the core of Ms. Flukes’ testimony was the fact that the BC(the Pill) is Not just used for just sexual reasons; as Rush seems to be accusing her of having sex so often thus leading her to have to be using the Pill so often.

My comment is the fact that women use medically the Pill because of many ailments and not just after or before sex. As you listen to RL, he constantly was speaking in that frame of mind, and I find that to be unacceptable when women know, medical doctors know that that is not the only reason women use the pill. In fact, Tally wrote a great piece today explaining a great lesson for all men to read, in my opinion, and certainly, RL.

I do think that every woman should have the right to make a sound and wise personal decision with her medical doctor when it is appropriate to make the decision how the Pill will benefit her needs medically. I did that, and I will fight for my right to continue to do so as well as to fight for that right for every young or old woman to have that choice.

We can educate some people including men about the various uses and benefits of the Pill. Maybe this will be as good a time as ever as we bring women out to discuss this subject.

You have a wonderful evening and thank you for your comment.HZ

Kasai, I know EXACTLY how you felt! The first time Chips Chica stayed away from her TODville home for hours (years ago) I and others here were in a real pelter! We woke up AND THERE WAS NO equivalent ‘Rise and Shine’ for almost the entire morning/day!!!! Some of us asked the same questions you are asking. I for one had visions of calling out the RCMP while others were scouring the neighbourhood trying to retrace her steps. ๐Ÿ˜‰ We had a real ‘stern’ talking to with Chips Chica upon her return! Ever since that time, she usually signals when she’s going to be missing with a ‘See you later’ or some such. {Seems like being gone from family for long periods of time can be a problem when you have too many houses. Chips ๐Ÿ˜‰ } Kasai, I so understand that it’s a rough feeling to feel so connected and worried, and helpless, about the well-being of someone whom you might easily walk by on the street because though your spirit recognizes her, your eyes wouldn’t! And ‘poor’ Chips, being accountable to all these cyber family members making big time claims on her time. ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜†

Linda posted on the last thread that former First Lady Barbara Bush has been making robocalls to Ohio Voters on behalf of Mitt Romney. Although the call is supposedly about Super Tuesday, Mrs. Bush takes a cheap shot at our President “America cannot afford four more years of Barack Obama” while saying absolutely nothing about the other three GOP contenders. I now understand why she’s stooping this low:

// In Ohio โ€“ where President Obamaโ€™s approval rating stands at 45 percent โ€“ he leads Paul by 10 points among registered voters (48 to 38 percent), Romney by 12 points (50 to 38 percent), Santorum by 14 (50 to 36 percent) and Gingrich by 15 (51 to 36 percent). //

I was driving alone today Anniebella, and I thought of similar thoughts regarding Mrs. Barbara Bush comments on that call. I will say this boldly: Most young people who will live long after I am gone will remember the good that POB did for this country and for them for more that they will recall her son as their president.

I would surely want to see POB continue to lead this country Anyday for a second term. Now, if America is smart, POB certainly does deserve a second term. How dare she. Enough said, but I stand by every word that I have spoken.HZ

Random —>I can’t believe it’s March already. This year will blow by. Once you graduate high school time just fly’s by.

Barbara Bush has a lot of nerve to be talking about what this country can afford when she birthed George W. The most expensive and debt inducing President in the history of this nation.

You know a long time ago, I kind of felt sorry for Barbara Bush when she was set to speak at Wellesly, but there was so much protest, she had to back out. The students protested that she dropped out of Wellesly to marry George HW Bush.

Yep, and it’s a shame PBO found it necessary to call her an “extraordinary woman” during a presentation. I love my PBO, but somehow I will be glad when he can become a private citizen and not have to deal with the BS that is protocal in his role as President. Of course, after 2016, I will miss him like crazy. And by the way, I can’t remember that “b” standing for anything worthwhile. I didn’t really pay attention.

            March 4, 2012 at 6:02 pm

As a person who loves words and their latent subtlety in the hands/minds of the gifted, I have no problems with PBO calling Barbara an ‘extraordinary woman’. From the little I do know of her I would have interpreted his words negatively, especially if I’d heard him say this, for example, after I heard the dead fetus and bottle story. Put another way, words convey different things to different people and really smart wordsmiths can have fun in my opinion. I believe PBO is a smart wordsmith. Of course, he’s also a caring and warm person so he might not use his words this way, but I can dream. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Are you the Edp with family in the tornado area, and if so how did they fare?

            • 88 EDP4BHO

No, no family in those spots, but in NC, VA, NO. I didn’t know there was another edp out there. As for PBO as a wordsmith, I’m sure he is, but I really want him to find another word besides extraordinary. This is my mild critique, much as I would chide my son….LOL. He really does have a vast vocabulary, so you may be onto something when you said ” really smart wordsmiths can have fun in my opinion”. You think maybe your dream could be true? As in Mrs. Bush is an “extraordinary woman” . ๐Ÿ˜€

If I was sure that was the real Barbara Bush robo-calling, I would not hesitate to send this as a tweet. Then again, I saw her in an interview on Larry K once and she did seem quite ‘nervy’ in her comment on the Alaska Barbie.

      • 95 Anya
        March 4, 2012 at 6:12 pm

It’s the real Barbara Bush, but her robo call did not include the attack on the President. The above quote is from the orginal script. I think Mrs Bush declined to attack PBO. I doubt the Bush women or even George H.W. Bush will be attack dogs.

        Here’s what ABC said:
Notably, Bush tweaked the original script of the robocalls in Ohio and Vermont, cutting out a mild attack line against President Obama โ€“ โ€Iโ€™m supporting Mitt for one simple reason: America cannot survive four more years of Barack Obama, and Mitt is the man to lead America, and we need him nowโ€ โ€“ and replacing it with a personal reference to the Romneys.
Jim McGrath, a spokesman for the Bushes, said that โ€œMrs. Bush changed the script.โ€

Thanks, Anya! Glad now that I didn’t tweet the comment about her opinion on what the country can afford. I’m learning to wait a while sometimes before acting on Twitter, so that I don’t have to apologize or feel guilty because I misinterpreted. I tell myself I’m exercising restraint as a nouveau-journalist ๐Ÿ˜‰ until I am reasonably sure my comment is valid. ABCnews/blog and Barbara Bush’s spokesperson are not exactly what one would call ‘reliable’ sources…

Well, we don’t have to figure the moods of how people feel about Barbara Bush here. The Katrina comments notwithstanding, she was the same woman who would indirectly called Kitty Dukakis and Geraldine Ferarro bitches. So, she wouldn’t be high on the list of the nation’s favorite First Ladies, thats for damn sure. On the endorsement, it really isn’t a good one. I mean, if your whole stick for the former First Lady is that the other guy would be terrible and not about the man you are endorsing, how he would change the nation for the better, or what kind of person he seems to be to you, it basically tells me that you are really doing the ad because its the party line and its your duty to do this.

For example, Mamie Eisenhower’s endorsement of Nixon in 1972.

      hahah…go for it….

I highly recommend the tote with the sun logo and 2012. Don’t buy the yoga pants unless you are very tall. I spent $145.00 last time and went to the Dems Atlanta site and bought the poster and a bunch of buttons…

      • March 4, 2012 at 6:06 pm

I’m looking at the tote with 2012 stamped all over it, the bangle bracelet set, and the silver rising sun pin. Yikes!!!!!

I almost bought the stamped one…but the one I got is embroidered and really top quality…better than I expected… I also got the soy candle and a baseball cap….with the 2012 on front and the website on the back..

you’re not alone. I bought all 4 Iphone 4 cases and then I went ahead and both a fleece jacket (winter is pretty much over in DFW. Don’t know when I’m gonna wear it…LOL) a warm-up jacket, a pink and gray exercise bag and a neck attachment for my ID and such.

Still, I go in every day just to peek, have lost track of how much I’ve spent in the past 3 months, but I sure have a lot of really nice stuff! Clear Channel’s Premiere Radio Networks Inc. hosts Limbaugh’s program, one of the country’s most popular talk radio shows. The company is supporting Limbaugh, whose on-air contract with Premiere runs through 2016.

“The contraception debate is one that sparks strong emotion and opinions on both sides of the issue,” Premiere Networks said in a statement emailed Sunday by spokeswoman Rachel Nelson. “We respect the right of Mr. Limbaugh, as well as the rights of those who disagree with him, to express those opinions.”

I’m sorry. This wasn’t AN OPINION! It was an slanderous LIE!

FIG Clear Channel! The Pigbutt’s words were pure slander and he should be sued for all he is worth. He doesn’t have the latitude of “opinion” or “free speech” here since he was not discussing a politician or media figure but a civilian young woman who he knew less than nothing about. He just decided to vilify her for his own personal pleasure and ratings.

He should get his lard ass sued off & Clear Channel with him! QED!!!

Thanks, Bobfr, I’m no lawyer but it sure seems to me that what the Lardbucket did would qualify as slander & he should have to pay for that. He totally vilified this young woman and her reputation on a national venue with no evidence or knowledge of her personally. She is not some media figure or politician that he can say is “fair game” under “free speech.”

What he has done is unconscionable. I know our slander laws are not as tough as in the UK but there should be some recourse for this young woman that would make that piece of slime and Clear Channel really bleed…..$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It’s a tough call legally. Ms. Fluke chose to enter the public square by agreeing to testify — does that constitute being a public figure? I’m assuming legal opinions would vary on this one.

            March 4, 2012 at 7:23 pm

            Hi 57!

Not a lawyer so this may be totally incorrect.

It doesn’t matter what your status is, if someone attacks you with an array of harmful lies as well as vile insults, which he did, you should have recourse.

Clear Channel knowingly enabled his attacks.

He didn’t attack once. He did so multiple times on multiple days.

He used a massive weapon compared to the victim – international broadcast radio. And, he solicited pornography (wanting to view her videos of her having sex), via FCC regulated, inter-state communication systems, to wit:

“18) โ€œMs. Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, here’s the deal: If we are going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. And I’ll tell you what it is. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch.โ€” Source: http://limbaughbook.blogspot.com/2012/03/rushs-52-smears-against-sandra-fluke.html

Again, I’m not a lawyer. But, I can imagine that more than one lawyer has already being consulting with 3rd year law student, Sandra Fluke (speculation, of course) about legal recourse both against Rush & Clear Channel & perhaps even their sponsors.

    Civil rights milestone

President Obama issued the following statement on a milestone in the civil-rights movement that occurred on this day in 1965: “Today, we mark the 47th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, the march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, where hundreds of courageous men and women risked their lives in the name of equality. Those brave marchers knew the danger that awaited them on the other side of the Edmund Pettus Bridge but they pressed on, stepping into history as they challenged the nation’s conscience. Today, we remember their courage in the face of danger and the spirit of perseverance that helped lead to iconic legislation like the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act. We also recommit ourselves to their struggle and to the idea that we should always seek a more perfect union.”

Crowd of about 3,000 to 4,000 start Selma to Montgomery March

The line of marchers snaked back five blocks or more.

The march was led by the Rev. Al Sharpton, who is in company of U.S. Rep. John Lewis, D-Georgia, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Martin Luther King III. Also near the front of the line is democratic U.S. House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md.

Marchers are carrying signs protesting Alabama’s immigration law and voter identification laws.

Marchers have now crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma.

The march will continue for about two more miles before stopping for the day.

Most of the congressmen, state legislators and Civil Rights activists, leading the march peeled off once they walked over the bridge and boarded waiting buses for trips to Montgomery and Birmingham to return home.

The march will resume in the morning along U.S. 80. Plans call for marchers to travel about 10 miles a day, arriving in Montgomery Friday for a rally at the state house.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. today the first of the marchers, a group which has grown to an estimated 3,000 to 4,000 strong, reached the bridge and began to cross over as part of the annual Selma-to-Montgomery commemoration.

Churchgoers – including 30 members of the Kennedy family – were urged to continue the legacy of the civil rights movement during a morning mass at the historic Brown Chapel AME church in advance of a 6-day march from Selma to Montgomery.

So many showed up for the Sunday morning service that hundreds had to stand outside listening to loudspeakers.

I don’t know if this is true or made-up but this comment from one of the blogs that I read earlier today has had me HOWLING all day. I’m so sorry I didn’t save a link to it, I’m paraphrasing:

“So I called ProFlowers today and said I’ve never ordered anything from you all before, but… The rep stopped me and said I’m so sorry sir, if you’re calling about Rush Limbaugh, I’ll transfer you to our complaint department. We’ve just had so many calls about his unfortunate comments the other day. One moment… I said no wait, I don’t want to complain, I want to order some flowers. With a sigh of relief the woman says “oh okay, I can help you with that. What would you like to order?” I’d like a couple dozens roses, the long stemmed ones. Oh, nice choice, she said. Where would you like them to be sent. I said I want to send a couple dozen of the ones with prickly thorns to Rush Limbaugh with a card instructing him to shove them sideways up his fat aass. [Click].”

Bwhaaaahahahaha!! LOL!!! I know my reaction is juvenile, but I found it cleansingly satsfying. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

“Suspend” their advertising my ass. That’s just code for we’ll give it a week or so until the fervor dies down and go right back to the way things were. I’m not buying it or their flowers!

Looks like they still have a little website scrubbing to do.N
Go to proflowers.com and click on the little radio microphone in the upper right hand corner. Type in promo code ‘Rush’ or ‘Limbaugh’ and you get directed to a page with specials:

The Welcome Radio Listeners message doesn’t come up any more in the page content any more, but it still takes you to the same page.
Note the difference if you type in these other radio promo codes: “TJMS”, “Hannity” , “Steve Harvey” or “Randi”

I am looking around the corner on the Rush episode to see that if he is fired he will go on FOX and complain that he warned everyone that Obama was trying to take him off the air and PBO did not believe in free speech. I think maybe the same treatment that Ed got might be better with a long suspension. I also think his rant this time did the Dem party more good than bad in now many women are siding with the Dems on the birth control issue. I do feel bad for Sandra Fluke. I do like the going to the sponsors to have them pull their support. I just worry about going too far with the demanding of firing him. This is why every decent and good act that we all will do to bring some justice for Ms. Fluke is so important. There will be young girls who will deal with painful words that will almost destroy them. I know because during my career, I heard it, and I saw it. I spent many hours and days trying to talk to the young ladies and the young men about the hurtfulness of their words to the young ladies in all of the cases.

This is not a humorous thing. This is serious. A young lady’s heart has a sting and a very deep wound in it because of a vile and unkind person’s words spoken toward her and into her space, while she did not deserve any of it. Plain and simple.

However, I feel that those of us who are speaking out and doing good deeds in this matter will not regret it, because it is the Right thing to do.HZ

Interesting segment on 60 Minutes on the cover-up of priest abuse of children in Ireland by the church hierarchy, a familiar story. I thought I saw the former pres. of Ireland in the chips vid speaking out against this atrocity, and I wondered if 60 Minutes saw it here. They detailed stories like a bishop, I believe, ordering 2 teenage boys to remain silent when they came to him to report sexual abuse by a priest, and that priest went on to abuse 20 more young boys. It was a comprehensive piece, heartbreaking for so many there. The priest biz is down there, many churches are without parish priests now, only 10 boys in the seminary when they used to have hundreds. It is still, these many years and many horrific stories later, almost impossible to fathom, that this went on in so many places here and around the world, for decades. So many lives ruined.

The video forced Sherrod to resign from her job as Georgia State Director of Rural Development for the United States Department of Agriculture.

Eventually, however, Breitbartโ€™s scam was uncovered and Sherrod was offered her job back, and even received an apologetic call from President Obama. So how did Sherrod respond to Breitbartโ€™s passing? With class.

โ€œThe news of Mr. Breitbartโ€™s death came as a surprise to me when I was informed of it this morning,โ€ Sherrod said in a statement. โ€œMy prayers go out to Mr. Breitbartโ€™s family as they cope during this very difficult time. I do not intend to make any further comments.โ€

And they sack their coach in ‘response’. Talk about self-goal. So many more coaches are there left to take up the shitty ob ?

And if Romney is elected, that 11 year old will be able to fight in World War III because the war would still be going on by the time he’s old enough to be drafted into the military. Draft you say? yes, we’ll need them because if Romney is elected all of our troops will still be in Afghanistan and Iraq – Pres.Romney restarted that one.

“[snip]…I’m willing to bet that by 2010, Rick Santorum’s little girl’s medical expenses were coming near the lifetime limits imposed by insurers before the Affordable Care Act did away with them, too. Imagine having a child like that and NOT making millions to cover the costs. Imagine having to rely on charity to take care of that child or disabled loved one and realizing charities don’t have the resources to help you either. Imagine that.

Chris Wallace really lost an opportunity to ask Santorum the follow-up question here, which would simply be why on earth he would oppose a law that would help him manage the costs of caring for a child with severe disabilities and by so doing, would also enable him to give more to charity, particularly Catholic charities which do much in the area of health care.

I really do not enjoy attacking public figures on questions of faith, but in this case it seems Santorum has inconsistent views. On the one hand, he condemns prenatal testing because he’s sure it “culls the ranks of the disabled.” On the other hand, he acknowledges that the cost to care for those disabled children is “very, very expensive.” So expensive, in fact, that he cannot afford to give much to charities who might help other parents of similarly disabled children who are struggling for their survival, much less round-the-clock home nurses.

Add this contradiction to his objection to other, less fortunate people having access to affordable health care while HIS coverage is paid for with taxpayer-subsidized dollars, and it seems to add up to a big “I’ve got mine, so screw you” statement. From a policy standpoint, it makes no sense at all. On a personal level, it exposes the contradictions of a man who claims to be standing for religion, God, and maybe apple pie. To anyone who struggles on a daily basis with balancing the needs of THEIR immediate family against the costs of health care for them, it just looks like hypocrisy.

Put me in the last category. Meanwhile, here is how Mr. Santorum’s finances will improve after the full provisions of the Affordable Care Act take hold..”. [see more in the article]

    • March 4, 2012 at 9:50 pm

I saw this on FB earlier. This is “really high” hypocrisy, I think. What about all the people who have a disabled child and NO insurance? Lord, help us. these people are just evil and hateful and selfish and HYPOCRITES!

Apparently Breitbart’s company is going to release “The Obama Harvard Tapes” BE AFRAID!!!

On Thursday evening, Steve Bannon, a writer and documentary filmmaker, told FOX Newsโ€˜ Sean Hannity that Breitbartโ€™s company will release the mysterious Obama Harvard tapes within 7 to 10 days.

โ€œThereโ€˜s a set of tapes and weโ€™re going through it,โ€ Bannon announced. โ€œThe staffโ€ฆthe guys are going through a series of tapes of President Obama at Harvard andโ€ฆweโ€™ll come back to you in a week or two and show them here on the Hannity show.โ€

My bet is the reason they are going to get back to us in a few weeks is because that buys them time to edit and falsify the tapes. What a joke.

this president handles himself so beautifully–because he lives and speaks with integrity. no need to stop and think what’s the best political move, or have his people give him a sound bite to use. he speaks from the heart, so he is always on topic, always appropriate. plus, he’s the smartest guy in the room.

      • March 5, 2012 at 3:56 am

And he always gives them an answer. This is the most amazing thing to me. He is the f***** POTUS, he could just ignore tham and let Secret Service take care of them. But no, he ALWAYS answers. He is blowing my mind day in and day out.

When it comes to President Obama, the poll contains mostly good news. Fifty percent approve of his job โ€“ his highest mark in the NBC/WSJ survey since Osama bin Ladenโ€™s death โ€“ and 45 percent disapprove.

Bolstering Obamaโ€™s standing is increased optimism about the state of the U.S. economy.
Forty percent believe the economy will improve during the next year, a three-point increase from January. And looking back at the economic recession, 57 percent say that the worst is behind us, while 36 percent say the worst is still to come.
Back in November, only 49 percent said the worst was behind us.
โ€œPresident Obama is probably in the best political shape heโ€™s been in since his initial year as president,โ€ says Hart, the Democratic pollster.
