just finished the B.S. interview with PBO. Loved it. Especially since it wasn’t on the usual pol topics. A different view of the sports guy in chief that we only sometimes get a glimpse of in sensationalized headlines. A very nice sit down, that made me feel I was sitting in a room just discussing sports with friends.

It’s an interview that probably won’t get much attention outside of sports fans, but I found it really more fascinating than most political pundit’s interviews.

    • March 1, 2012 at 1:25 pm

LunarSea, it was a fascinating interview and I say this as a person who is, in the main, disinterested in sports. To me, it illustrated PBO’s critical thinking ability and how he weighs many different variables in reaching a conclusion. I would think that sports fans would LOVE this interview.

I am an NBA junkie. I thought the interview was marvelous. He should do non-political type interviews more often. It makes you feel like he’s apart of your family or one of your friends. Very cool.

That’s some nice jazz music their playing while we wait for the President. I’m looking forward to his speech. This is another important one.

I was just looking at The Times of Indian which reported a poll of Indian-Americans who overwhelmingly support President Obama. MSN news has it too. This was a couple of days ago so it may have already been mentioned in the comments. I do appreciate our Indian-American citizens in many ways and this is the icing on the cake.

80% Indian-Americans to vote for Obama: poll

“But if the presidential elections were held today, an overwhelming 80 per cent of Asian Indians would vote for President Barack Obama,” said the first of its kind survey among Indian-Americans conducted by Boston-based INE Media Inc., the publisher of IndUS Business Journal and INDIA New England newspaper.

When I saw that he wasn’t wearing hat and scarf the pictures you posted, I thought of all the Sen Obama pics from Chitown where he wasn’t wearing any and how he laughed when they first moved into the WH and school was closed for 3″ of snow. He’s was talking about the girls being incredulous that school was closed.

So cute that he brought that up in NH

  23. March 1, 2012 at 2:06 pm

Wow Chips, I thought it was just the other day we were celebrating 6 million hits. When did we get to 7 mil and now 8 mil? Did I fall into a coma?

Congratulations!!! You keep us all sane. One day 50-100 years from now, antiquaries will study this site for its uniqueness in the face of so much bile from the internetz in the years 2008-2016. Digital archeologists seeking to understand how Prez. Obama won election and re-election in the face of all odds, and they will be searching through your posts and our comments to discern who those people were (i.e. us) who bucked the media bandwagon? This site will be hailed a special treasure….

Hey, everyone. Latest PPP poll on Wisconsin. Pres crushing Mittens. Also includes a great chart comparing 2008 with 2012 in key states. Nice numbers.

Obama doing well in Wisconsin and beyond

There might not be any state that better represents Barack Obama’s improved fortunes in the opening months of 2012 than Wisconsin. When we polled there in late October Obama’s approval was a 44/51 spread and he led Mitt Romney by only 3 points at 46-43, representing a much closer race than the state had in 2008. Now those numbers have shifted significantly, with Obama’s approval basically flipping to 52/44. And he now leads Romney 53-39, a 14 point margin that matches what he won against John McCain there.

Obama’s 14 point lead in Wisconsin matches a trend we’re seeing in both our national and state polling across the country right now: Obama/Romney is starting to look more and more like Obama/McCain, or even something more friendly to the President. Here’s the breakdown on all of our Obama/Romney polls from 2012 and how they compare to the 2008 results:

    • 140 LunarSea
      March 1, 2012 at 2:18 pm

I think all the pundits reporting the race close in WI is because the GOP plan to steal the election as usual. If they prep us now, they’re hoping we just shrug and say ‘well it was close in the polls’ but in my book that’s BS

This sounds much more on par with all the news we’re hearing

None-the-less we must remain diligent and #presson like we are down 10 in the polls

      • 141 hopefruit2
        March 1, 2012 at 2:32 pm

The WH /administration/Obama campaign conduct their own internal polls so they will know if something fishy happens. You can take that to the bank.

        • March 1, 2012 at 3:06 pm

Exactly. They only think they’re going to steal it. They’re in for a big surprise. This President never tips his hand.

        • 144 LunarSea
          March 1, 2012 at 4:58 pm

that’s where I’m putting my money (not the bank, I do credit unions 😆 ) Still I think the only real problem for me is voter disenfranchisement. The GOP see the writing on the wall and I believe this is why they are so mired in voter rights fraud. I agree this admin is all over it, but that doesn’t put it past them to at least try. I have every confidence that they are just that cockey that they will at least try.

    • March 1, 2012 at 2:24 pm

      Wootie-woot!! On Wisconsin!

    • March 1, 2012 at 4:11 pm

Majority Leader John Boehner and his fellow woman-haters in Congress are promising to continue their war on women.

“I think it’s important for us to win this issue,” Mr. Boehner told reporters just before the Senate killed a Republican measure with a vote of 51 to 48. “The government, our government, for 220 years has respected the religious views of the American people, and for all of this time there’s been an exception for those churches and other groups to protect the religious beliefs that they believe in, and that’s being violated here.” […]
“I’ve been trying to take this out of the political realm and get it into a position where we can continue to protect the American people’s right to their own religious views,” he said. “And there are a lot of ways to do that. There’s one in the Senate. We have a couple in the House. It’s matter of how we proceed.” […]

“The government is moving in a direction that would force some Americans to violate their religious beliefs,” he said. “This is wrong, and we want to stop it.”

    • March 1, 2012 at 4:17 pm

I wonder if Boehner has ever made a truthful statement in his life. He’s pandering to the extreme right wing of religionists and misogynists with this idiocy. And he has done absolutely nothing to help working people since this Congress began. He’s wasting his time and taxpayer money. Please, please let Nancy get her gavel back.

      • 167 Betsy
        March 1, 2012 at 7:56 pm

The ONLY way these idiots will get the message is if they lose BIG in the House and Boehner loses his job, along with Cantor and that creep McConnell (is he up for re-election, anyone know?) The thing that bothers me most is the attempt of the MSM to make Dems equal to Repugs in what is happening in this country. We need a HUGE majority so we’re not hostage to the Nelson’s of this party. I don’t mind compromise, but not when it’s all on the Dem side.

The auto industry’s sales gains just keep rolling on.

Chrysler, Ford, Nissan and Volkswagen all reported strong U.S. sales in February, kicking off what is expected to be another strong month for automakers.

General Motors says its U.S. sales rose 1 percent last month, led by its small cars.

Chrysler said its sales were up 40 percent from a year earlier as it sold nearly 134,000 new cars and trucks and all of its brands showed at least double-digit increases….

Ford Motor Co. says its U.S. sales rose 14 percent in February…

Claire posted the attached link and phone number in the previous thread and I wanted to make sure we didn’t miss it and I wanted to request a
    call to action.

All – please take the time to make the phone call and protest the decision to post the ad in Clarendon Metro Station telling our President to Go to Hell and purposefully misrepresenting the President’s position on health care.

Call Media Relations. 202-962-1051 and voice your complaint.

They hung up on me three times but I kept calling back. The person that finally took my call said he apologized and wanted me to know that they are counting the amount of people calling in to complain about that one issue. So PLEASE let your voice be heard.

Please call, tweet, facebook — ask everybody to take the time to call Media Relations at 202-962-1051 and share their thoughts.

If they try to transfer you to another number and they will let you know up front, that you may be hung up on. So if you can, insist that the person you speak to in Media relations take your complaint or provides you with a number that will work.

It is one thing to object to the President’s policies, it is quite another to post an ad so disrespectful in a public place that is funded by tax payers dollars.

Seventeen foreign democracy activists at the centre of a row between Egypt and the US have left the country, a day after a travel ban was lifted.

The group worked at non-governmental organisations and other institutions that were raided by the Egyptian authorities in December.

The defendants are Egyptian, American, Palestinian, Norwegian, Serbian and German.

The case caused a major rift, risking $1.3bn (£813m) in US aid to Egypt.

Mena, the official Egyptian news agency, reported that the Americans had arrived at Cairo airport on Thursday in five vans, accompanied by a US embassy official.

The son of US Transport Secretary Ray LaHood was among the accused who sought refuge in the US embassy in Cairo.

Sam LaHood, who led the Egyptian office of the International Republican Institute, a pro-democracy group, was on the special plane that flew the foreigners out of Egypt to Cyprus on Thursday.

Could Mount Rushmore One Day Bear Barack Obama’s Face?

Mount Rushmore National Memorial, near Keystone, South Dakota, is the monumental sculpture that represents the first 150 years of the history of the U.S. with 60-foot sculptures of the heads of pivotal U.S. presidents. Ranging from George Washington to Theodore Roosevelt, each president in the sculpture represents a transitional time in U.S. history, after which, America would never be the same again. Albeit early in his presidency, doesn’t President Barack Obama already represent a pivotal moment in U.S. time. America, the country whose constitution and Bill of Rights seem paradoxically written by slave owners. The country who sent men to fight wars for democracy, while not having the right to vote in their own hometowns. After, over 200 years of racial history, the election of President Barack Obama is definitely monumental!

Now, we’re not requesting that President Barack Obama join the ranks of those four presidents prematurely, we’re just wondering whether or not it warrants exploring. Even Obama himself turned the idea of his face being up there with the rest of the presidents:

Obama was asked if he’d like to see his face on the mountain with Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Roosevelt.
“I dont think my ears would fit,” Obama said, laughing. “There’s only so much rock up there.”
