President Barack Obama speaks during a dinner honoring members of the Armed Forces who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn and their families at the White House
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey
Yep Jacqueline, Yardarm promoted me tonight – even if I wouldn’t know a ship’s rear end from a jar of peanut butter. So, the journey might be a little choppy at times, but I’m confident we can make it to DC in January 2013 – Yardarm will be the fella holding my compass 😉
Wow! My luck is in – entering on a short thread! Good evening Chips & TODville. It feels good to arrive in time to catch a piece of the action so I’m off to check out C-Span. 😆
I’m pretty sure he already knows this. Soon as I heard he was bringing his angry ass over here I knew he was coming to beat the war drums. PBO is smarter than lil Netty. No way is he going to be tricked into ANYTHING.
I’m not worried. He’ll let Bibi rant and cajole, but if there’s one thing we’ve found out about Barack Obama it’s that he doesn’t let himself be pushed into things he doesn’t want to do. Sometimes he agrees to do things he doesn’t want to do, but he usually surprises by simply agreeing to do it and while everyone’s standing around talking about he caved he pivots and attacks the issue from another direction. He just did that today with the new NDAA rules regarding detainees which make it virtually impossible to put anyone else in Gitmo. So on the Israel/Iran thing he’ll let the Israelis gripe and saber-rattle, but in the end he will make it clear that the Israelis shouldn’t expect us to join a foolish, destructive course which doesn’t make sense to this country.
Me too. I thought no one could fill Admiral Mike Mullen’s shoes after his term ended. He so courageously fought for the end of DADT and went to bat time after time. His testimony in congress was so powerful and moving – when I think of the picture of the male marine kissing his partner and how it went viral, it warms my heart to think that Admiral Mullen helped make that beautiful moment a reality – and his respect and admiration for PBO was a joy to witness. General Martin Dempsey has filled his predecessor’s shoes beautifully. When I watch him on sunday shows, his fierce commitment towards our military men and women, his respect and admiration for PBO fills my heart with joy.
And what does the GOP have? Mitt can’t hold a note and Santorum doesn’t even try. You can tell he’s so uptight (what with thinking night and day about gay sex … SO forbidden!) that he couldn’t dream of cutting loose with a song. It would strangle in his throat. On the Dem side we have President Cool rocking his Ray-Bans and General Dempsey ready to cut an album mix of Celtic and Motown ballads with him.
Not viewing but I recall a question posed to me by a white male co-worker just around 2007, during a discussion of major league baseball and Jackie Robinson. His question was “we don’t have that kind or stuff any longer, don’t you think?”. I told him, oh yeah, right! You think so. A whole lot of folk were in the dark about the truth always simmering beneath the fabric of Amerika. Daily, we could get by, with the gradual rise in economic and political parity among the ethnicities, but the office of President was anathema to a majority of the majority. Thank goodness, a sizeable segment of the majority is helping to keep us all from sliding over a cliff.
I just spent a long time on facebook replying to some of the people who thought it was funny. It’s not funny. The President’s mother should not be disrespected. In fact I hate “your mamma” jokes. Miss Dunham was a good woman and she raised a wonderful son.
Hello TODers! Our deepest gratitude to President Obama and the USA men and women in iniform who make such monumental sacrifices to not only keep the USA safe, but also defenseless territories like the Caribbean.
So far so good. Today I had a couple of stressful hours where I wanted to jump through the phone and choke some body but things worked out. I would take that stress any day though over the stress of not having a good paying job. Everyone is very nice and very helpful too.
I know what you mean. As stress as I get sometimes about my job, I always have to stop and remember that I was laid off in 2009 and how blessed I was/am for finding a job a quickly as I did.
Ha, good one! Maybe you need to find a job writing jokes for the late night TV bunch.
Hello to all…I should post more often. Chips and all brighten my rather gloomy days lately. Well, spring will be here soon and that might help. I know, I know, whining when I live in SoCal. We native Californians can’t handle anything under 75-80! 😉
President Obama looks nice, okay where is the First Lady? You know I want to see what she is wearing. Don’t get me wrong, I love myself some POTUS, but I also love FLOTUS. Where is she?
Thank you Chipsticks. I can always count on you. You know my dream is to hopefully meet some of you guys January 2013 at President Obama second inauguration. OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
They sat at separate tables. She sat with a Gold Star widow of a deceased serviceman. She’s been such a friend to military families. Both of them are, but she’s the one who’s always meeting with them and getting groups together to talk about what the country can do for them since they are doing so much for their country.
I’m with you Bob. And like in that interview with Woodruff, I adore how he is sombre about all of this, no chestbeating crap, how he remembers the victims on all sides, and how he refuses to talk in bullshit terms like ‘victory!’, when there as no victory for anyone in that madness. He is just a class act.
You love your President. I loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo MY President. 🙂
PBO always seems to strike the right pose and tone for each individual event. He is quite different from the guy who spoke to union members yesterday. This is an amazing quality. He does it without losing himself.
The president always speaks in the right way for the audience, because he is true to his core, and is not one-dimensional. He has many facets…as do all of us. Each side we see is part of him. The media want to make hin THIS or THAT…..real people aren’t that way. They are multi-dimensional. He certainly is. HIs speech at the Arizona service was just as much him as his speech to the UAW yesterday. I don’t know why the press can’t grasp that fact. Maybe because they are all one-dimensional, and the politicos we’ve had and have in charge are all one-dimensional.
Well said, Carolyn. Our president is both a real and multi-dimensional human being and he is also one of a kind. Just a beautiful, phenomenal combination.
Wow, that interview was just fantastic. President Obama, as usual, answered every question thoroughly and completely. There was one point that really hit home for me. And that was when he emphasized the importance of him and the commanders on the ground apologizing for the accidental burning of Korans. It was to protect the lives of our troops. I am compelled to repost a very informative post by Chris Weigant about the hypocrisy of the GOP presidential candidates who have criticized the apology.
Apology Derangement Syndrome
==========================
When Barack Obama does the same thing Bush did four years ago, however, all sorts of nasty things are said about him by prominent Republicans. Apology Derangement Syndrome seems to be erasing Republicans’ memory. They’ve made such a honking big deal out of Obama’s apology that the news media has jumped on the story and continues to push it.
Of course, all of these “journalists” have the same access to the Lexis Nexis site which I have. Searching for these stories isn’t all that hard to do. I’m sure that every other president in modern history has made similar apologies at some point while they were in office, I merely used George W. Bush as the handiest of examples to show what hypocrisy and selective outrage Romney, Santorum, and Gingrich are currently displaying.
To put it another way: this story wasn’t all that hard to research and write. One wonders why the overpaid folks in the mainstream media haven’t done the same research. Especially on that Koran-shooting story.
The Republican candidates would have been happy to sit back and encourage bloodshed and more casualties. They could care less about our military men and women and would put them in harm’s way to gain political points. None of them is even remotely fit to be CIC. I’m glad PBO put the latest violence in perspective. From the BBC and other news reports it seemed as if things in Afghanistan were spinning out of control, but the president made it clear that casualties were declining and things were calming down. He is always on top of things and always in control.
BBC, of late, has become horrible. many of the headlines now a days scream ‘deadly attack’, ‘deadly bombing’ etc. When you read the article, the casualty does not even cross singe digit.
Thank you Chipstickis, I knew you would come through for me. It was worth the wait. FLOTUS looks great, wonderful, gorgeous . I tell you, I have never follow a President or First Lady like I have Barack and Michelle Obama. I am so “DAM” proud of them.
Eat your heart out Ann Romney, you can only dream and wish, but you don’t and will never come close to our First Lady. I don’t care how much money you have. It’s not about the money, either you have it or you and you don’t.
japa21, since you have to work I will ask Chipsticks to put up afew pictures of Mrs. Newt Gingrich. That should help you. Now don’t ever say I haven’t done anything for you. 🙂 Okay.
i’m so glad our president and first lady are honoring military families this way. during the shrub years, i remember all the ‘support our troops’ rhetoric and bumperstickers and so on, but it was really about supporting shrub and his decisions.
i grew up in a military family, and, as many of you know, blindingly bright polished brass, sharp creases in the uniform, and a proud display of rows of medals is thoroughly enjoyed by all. i remember my dad polishing his ceremonial sword, and preparing all the trappings of his uniform for the marine ball. and i also remember my mom selecting the most lovely dress, and cinderella shoes, and having her hair done.
military folks put up with a lot of grit in their lives, so when an opportunity to look good comes along, they enjoy it completely. i truly feel the pride and honor that tonight’s event has engendered. thank you mr president, mrs obama, mr vice president, and dr biden for your unwavering support for these americans.
Susanne, thanks for reminding us about all the ‘support the troops’ ribbons that flourished in the Bush years, yet nothing was done for veterans and their families and the troops had to operate with inferior weapons for many years. All the ribbons and car magnets in the world mean nothing if the tangible support isn’t there.
Thank you so much for your amazing insight into all things Presidential. Coming from another country I usually lurk but we are impacted by political decisions of your government (war, peace, the world economy, and much smaller issues that affect individual lifestyles) so I am thankful to read the reality you see – compared to the utter dysfunction of President Obama’s opposition.
In my world we thought Senator Obama had an uphill battle in 2008 – until John McCain chose his running mate. We thought the US had regained its name as a “world democracy extraordinaire” when he was elected. We didn’t realize that 3 years later there would still be people fighting their own best interests to cause him grief. The current war on women which seems unbelievably 19th century heartless morality gone wrong has probably caused me to take more notice of your current political world.
Your posts, pictures and positive thinking is an absolute delight. Your first family has charmed the world – how lucky you are that they care so much for their county and its people.
Thank you Ozfan, for the beautiful and thoughtful comments. What’s going on now with the GOP war on women is nothing short of astonishing. It is so misguided, so out of synch, so profoundly stupid and alienating that it seems a sign of a deranged and desperate party with no real core. ‘Unbelievably 19th century’ about sums it up.
What a beautiful and heartfelt message,OzFan! Thank you for this. Some of us are just as baffled as you are about the RW lunatics, and they really ARE lunatics…so out of step with the majority of the country they’re SUPPOSED to care about and represent. As painful as it is, I’m glad that more and more people are beginning to see them for who they really are…they don’t like what they see. But these guys can’t seem to hold back the crazy anymore…and just proceed to projectile vomit their disgusting and offensive ideology. I think we’re all a witness to history. The painful, slow, excruciating demise of the Republican party. The big question is: will they learn from this and regroup into a more moderate and thoughtful party in the future that is capable of ever governing? We shall see….
Good Evening
I have given a lot of thought about why the repugs have chosen this path against women and why the Catholic bishops have done so. I am reminded of a conversation I had with someone many years ago. He explained to me 2 things:
1) white men need white babies and
2) the church needs to increase its members.
He said white men are concerned about the US not being a white majority any longer. He said they are okay with Black/Brown babies because he can keep them illiterate, poor, drugged out, feeder system for the military, etc. It the aborted white babies they are concerned about and the fact that there will be no babies from LGBT couples (another reason they hate (the gays).
The church states that any child born in a Catholic household automatically becomes Catholic thus they have a vested interest in stopping all abortions. These babies are their feeder system.
I really think there is a lot to his thesis. I would add the dominance factor as well. Women bogged down having babies is not in the workforce, in school, travelling all over the world, etc. etc. Women’s work has been a tremendous ticket to their freedom and will not be giving it up.
Just some food for thought. Seen through these 2 prisms it is not difficult to understand the War on Women at all.
I believe you are correct. That is also the reason they are against interracial relationships, particularly when the woman is white. Because in their warped thinking her womb is for producing white babies. I’ve always believed that racists are far more repulsed by a child who is the product of such a union than by a child born of two black parents. This is an unspoken reason why they hate PBO so much. They are trying to prevent what they see as their impending minority status in this country.
but we are impacted by political decisions of your government (war, peace, the world economy, and much smaller issues that affect individual lifestyles)
That’s why I am an obot. If only hos own party had stood by him thick and through, we would have seen many more sane developments beneficial to all around the world.
thank you so much for your supporting comments…it is nice to hear from another world view…and i agree…that there have always been Americans who vote against their own interests blinded by hatred and fear….
We have an awesome Commander in Chief/President. He has been the President that ordered a rescue operation that killed Somalian pirates, ordered a risky SEAL operation that resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden, ordered drone strikes that killed a lot of Al Qaeda leaders, and he isn’t being a reactionary like President Bush in regards to Iran. Not to mention that he’s driving the extreme left and extreme right crazy because HE HAS ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND THEY DON’T!
Let me say thanks to every military men and women who serve this country. A big fat THANK YOU. And to the families who in their own way serve this country too, THANK YOU. I am so proud that FLOTUS and Dr. Biden have brought to the country attention that we need to honor the families also. Bless you all for what you do.
Based on results compiled and released by the Wyoming Republican Party, Romney won 39% of the votes cast in straw polls conducted at county-level caucuses through Tuesday.
Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania came in second with 33% of the straw-poll vote, followed by U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas with 20% and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich with 8%.
The delegate count may be closer. Of the 26 delegates at stake, CNN estimates Romney will pick up 10 delegates, while Santorum will take in nine delegates, Paul will receive six and Gingrich one.
A little more than 2,000 people caucused this year in Wyoming, the state with the country’s smallest population at just more than 500,000 residents.
Actually, it happened a few days ago but for some reason it’s taking them days to release the final results. Wolf released some early results Tuesday night and said the final results should be available Wednesday.
And just to change the subject a minute, how about Mitt saying he didn’t support the Blunt Amendment, then coming back afew minutes later saying of course he support the Blunt amendment. He just didn’t understand the question when first asked of him, America if you believe that I have a bridge to no where to sell you. Ann Romney, that is one of the reasons why your husband is a lying sorry campaigner. Don’t try to blame the media, for Mitt’s problems.
Ok, people let me tell you now, if you receive a forwarded email and you would feel uncomfortable sending the email to your minority friends but you forward it on to your friends and family who are not “ethnic” or minority, then guess what, I’m sorry but I’m gonna consider you a racist….TRUST!
this guy needs to resign, and he needs to feel the heat that makes him resign. not that little match thingy upthread! a big big flamethrower of heat!!!!
Hi Hi Everyone! Only a 9.5 hour day today, with little improvement for my lady. She’s a trooper tho, and we hope she might go to the nursing care ward in her building by Friday. Very busy days, I have missed a lot I can tell. Hugs all around, best hugs to Chips!
Tonight I feel a little less than amazing, I am just so tired. But, thank you, I appreciate hearing you say that! G’nite! (I wish my phone would stop ringing!)
For her book “The Submerged State,” she asked a scientifically selected sample of 1,400 Americans whether they had ever used a government social program. Only 43 percent copped to having done so. Then she read off 21 social programs, such as Medicare (FFSOMED) and the home-mortgage interest deduction, and asked the same question again: Have you ever used a government social program? This time, 96 percent said yes, in fact, they had.
According to Mettler’s survey, 60 percent of those who benefit from the home-mortgage interest deduction didn’t think they had ever used a government social program. Fifty-three percent of those with student loans didn’t think they had used one. Among Social Security beneficiaries, 44 percent thought themselves unsullied by the touch of government, and among Medicare beneficiaries, 39 percent said the same. Twenty-seven percent of those in public housing answered in the negative, as did 25 percent of those on food stamps.
The implication seemed to be that Americans are hypocrites, or at least woefully uninformed. But in forthcoming research, Mettler and co-author Julianna Koch dig deeper, and find the reality is more complicated.
we need to challenge this notion …that government programs are dirty words….it is how our government work for us/…The Repubs have won this message that a government programs only help the poor…
oil subsidies…those special tax loopholes….etc…for the wealthy are government programs…it is time for the Dems to take control of this message….
jacquelinebboomer, it was indeed. I pray the people of Nebraska will give Bob Kerry a chance. I think he will be a hell of alot better that Ben the trader Nelson.
(Reuters) – North Korea has agreed with the United States to suspend major elements of its atomic weapons program in a surprise breakthrough that could pave the way for the resumption of long-stalled nuclear disarmament talks with the secretive state.
i saw it mentioned on several sites, and on the radio today. it was not treated as a bfd, but maybe because they’re not sure if kim will be a reliable bargaining partner.
State of play: President Obama will take his energy message on the road again Thursday with a speech in the swing state of New Hampshire, which he carried in 2008.
The president will appear at Nashua Community College to “discuss his blueprint for an economy built to last with a focus on American energy,” according to the White House.
It will be Obama’s second energy-themed speech in as many weeks.
I love that PBO toasts a gathering with a glass of water. It always looks as clear as his mind must be! Very gracious is he! On that note, goodnight all!
Good Night Chips and TOD Family. Thanks so much for your love to all of us, Chips. I am so grateful. I felt joyful but heavy in my heart today, but I had a need to be in meditation and prayer for our family here and for our wonderful POTUS and VPOTUS.
We are going to win this, I have no doubt, but I made a promise to myself to keep my heart open daily before a higher power than myself. That is where and how I spent almost all of my day today in prayer /meditative time for all of us. You all give so much on this beautiful site, so the least I can do here is to lift up Chips and our family in asking for blessings to come our way, and protection to be close to each of us.
By doing my little part to help with my beautiful family here to get this job done is indeed a pleasure and an honor. We all have our gifts, and Chips, thanks to you, we are able to share them, use them, and appreciate this great opportunity to help a great and humble man, President Barack Obama to lead this nation.
We are so grateful for our CIC honoring our wonderful service/men/women on this beautiful night. I pray that they will take courage with them in knowing that they have a CIC and a great support team in our VPOTUS, our First Lady, and our SLOTUS, Dr. Jill Biden. We saw the beauty of America in more ways than one tonight. Thank you to all of our families who are still serving us as well. Goodnight all.
((((((((((((((((((((((((((( I thank you, our beloved Chips)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))HZ
I was glad to see Bernie Sanders on Ed Show explaining the real reason why gas prices are going up. Speculation by Wall Street, and who’s side is Wall Street on this year? The Republican Party. I think they are working hand in hand in hopes of damaging POTUS chance of winning. I just hope and pray Americans doesn’t fall for the Republicans-Wall St. plan.
Aide: Santorum raises $9M in February
By JEDD ROSCHE | 2/29/12 5:56 PM EST
Rick Santorum raised $9 million this month alone, campaign spokesman Hogan Gidley confirmed Wednesday.
The campaign raised $9 million for just the month of February, Gidley said in an email, adding that included 100,000 unique online donors and more than 130,000 donations. That’s double the $4.5 million his campaign raised the previous month.
Despite coming in second in Michigan on Tuesday night, that kind of money gives the campaign a chance to hit Super Tuesday hard.
If Rachel Maddow hears the President’s explanation of why their has been no NYC ticker tape parade, maybe she’ll shut up about it. Sorry, but this is just one more issue where she thinks she knows better than the President.
She was given that same explanation by a top person in the Pentagon, on her show and she still insists on clamoring for a parade. She got pounded on Twitter for that dumb chart about President Obama being more conservative than Clinton. She will never admit when she is wrong about something concerning Barack Obama.
She crying about a parade when we have 90,000 troops in Afghanistan; most of whom also served in Iraq. Oh please do sit down Rachel. Some of you let her back in your good graces, me NEVER!
WTF is the deal about a parade? That war was a lie and a travesty for the world. Our soldiers served for many years without a clear mission, reliable equipment or CIC leadership. PBO cleaned up the mess and now we’re out. What is a parade going to do about all that? It’s a strange fixation. It’s like they don’t want to let go of it. It’s appropriate that PBO and his administration is more focused on health care and benefits for the veterans and their future.
Instead of crying about a ticker tape parade for an ill-fated war that has many of the same soldiers now fighting in Afghanistan, she should be talking about the many programs that have been put in place for military vets and their families to support them once they return from war. She never says anything about all those good works, and instead just focuses on what’s missing – in her estimation.
There is nothing stopping towns and states or groups of people from having parades for Iraq soldiers. Rachel has money, why don’t she have a parade? I think when ask about this by Bob Wooduff the President answer the question just fine for me. Let’s wait till all our men and women are home from war.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The economy grew slightly faster than initially thought in the fourth quarter and a gauge of factory activity in the Midwest hit a 10 month-high in February, pointing to underlying strength in the economy.
Gross domestic product expanded at a 3 percent annual rate, the quickest pace since the second quarter of 2010, the Commerce Department said on Wednesday in its second estimate.
The reading, which was up from the 2.8 percent pace the government reported last month and reflected modest upward revisions to almost all components of GDP, added to the recent run of fairly upbeat economic reports.

Jovie, the way I see it, ain’t nothing going to get done in Congress this election season, so POTUS have to do what he has to do. Which is raise money to defeat those radical do nothing Republicans.
Warren Buffett’s MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co. is planning a second round of bonds to finance its $2.4 billion Topaz Solar Farm in California after investors sought more of the debt than was offered in the first public issuance for a U.S. photovoltaic power project.
The first Topaz bond offering, for $850 million, was oversubscribed by more than $400 million. Fitch Ratings, which gave the deal its lowest investment-grade rating of BBB-, said the second tranche will probably cover the balance of the $1.265 billion in debt MidAmerican needs to complete the 550-megawatt project.
The demand shows that renewable-energy projects, which provide reliable revenue through long-term contracts to sell power to utilities, are becoming more appealing to investors, said Chris Yonan, a project finance director at Barclays Capital, which led a group of investment banks in underwriting the debt.
Rush the crack cocaine addict, called a college woman (Sandra Fluke) a slut. I think he called 98% of women sluts because we have used OMG,OMG,OMG, the birth control pill… Hey you sluty women speak out because I am Sanda Fluke… Hey Chips create a poster… Hey Rush ‘I am Sandra Fluke” you bastard….
Rush has been rolling around in pig swill so long everything he says is a form of excrement. If there are ignorant baboons who still listen to his show I really pity them. Very difficult to live without a brain.
This nonsense where the Blunt Amendment can be “attached” to the Transportation Bill, really burns me up.
Anybody ever heard of CLEAN BILL.
I know that they all do this, but what the hell does Healthcare and Moral objection, have to do with creating jobs/infrastructure?
Df, it’s only the fact that PBO is in the White House that allows me not to freak out over things like an anti-women amendment attached to a transportation bill. The Republican-led House wastes hours and hours working against the people of the United States and produces not one single jobs bill or anything else that will help the economy. That’s the record they’re creating. And all their efforts will go nowhere because they will result in a veto. Willard, the Resolute, supports the Blunt amendment, although he would once have been against it. The thought of the kind of atrocities this man would sign if he were president makes my blood run cold. For the sake of all the women in the United States and all of our collective sanity, he must be soundly defeated in November.
NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (WTW) — President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign has formally opened its New Jersey headquarters.
The offices in North Brunswick opened Wednesday.
The Democratic president is seeking a second term in the November election. In New Jersey, Obama received 57 percent of the vote in 2008, compared with 42 percent for Republican John McCain.
A recent Rutgers-Eagleton poll finds 60 percent of the state’s registered voters view the president favorably, compared with 33 percent who don’t.
maybe somebody sent him one of the ofa coffee cups?

FIST BUMPS to you Chips and everyone else here in TODville.!!!!!
I love Bob Woodruff. I can understand why he was invited, after his physical injuries his recovery is simply amazing.
C-Span coverage has started
Thanks. Watching VP Biden now. Has PBO spoken?

Thks Admiral Chips.
I didn’t know Chips is an Admiral! Cool! She can get us into the next dinner!
Good evening, TODers. Boy, did Mrs. Obama look striking in those photos, or what. That President Obama fella is one lucky guy.
Holding your compass, eh? You sure there’s nothin’ else Admiral?
You’re obviously a Rear Admiral then.
Jeez, walk away from the computer for a few minutes and miss being number 1.
That’ll teach you Japa, next time you need to walk away bring the damn computer with you!
😆 😆 Wouldn’t that defeat the purpose of getting ‘away’, Chips? 😆 😆
Wow! My luck is in – entering on a short thread! Good evening Chips & TODville. It feels good to arrive in time to catch a piece of the action so I’m off to check out C-Span. 😆
Hellooooooooooooo VC! Good to see ya 😉
Thanks, CC. It’s good to be here!
Bibi trick Obama? Not likely.
PBO and Axelrod are nobody’s fool. Whatever PBO decides will be in the best interest of America and Americans.
Spot on!
not even close.

great read CTGirl and ties to what Israelis have been saying consistently in the recent years of this Administration.
I’m not worried. He’ll let Bibi rant and cajole, but if there’s one thing we’ve found out about Barack Obama it’s that he doesn’t let himself be pushed into things he doesn’t want to do. General Dempsey (who’s a singer) quips his wife says the President has a much better voice.
that’s a duet i’d love to see!
Did you see this? Disgusting to the max. Disgusting Montana Dist. judge sends along disgusting racist anti-Obama email. (We have a lot of sickies in this country)
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/story/2012-02-29/Montana-judge-racist-email/53307060/1#.T07Mf5xYrS0.twitter
Term limits for ALL judges.
I will be calling his office tomorrow first thing to let him know what kind of American I think he is.
Racists bastard. But we can’t let these kind of fools get us down. There are good folks out there who are not racists.
this pig needs to step down. this is absolutely inexcusable behavior. is there a petition to demand his removal?
This is why I am so worried about Montana. The teaparty is very strong.
Joe!!
me lubs me my Joe!
Just wanted to say what’s up to everyone. HI!
hi! 😀
Hey gobrooklyn….how is the new job going?
So far so good. Today I had a couple of stressful hours where I wanted to jump through the phone and choke some body but things worked out. I would take that stress any day though over the stress of not having a good paying job. Everyone is very nice and very helpful too.
I know what you mean. As stress as I get sometimes about my job, I always have to stop and remember that I was laid off in 2009 and how blessed I was/am for finding a job a quickly as I did.
Sometimes I still can’t believe I have one after 3 years. 3 years! I miss the little girl I used to babysit though.
Hey congratulations!
Hey sis…How are you?
Thanks tulips!
Best of luck to you, gobrooklyn.
Looking forward to this 🙂
PBO is so handsome in his bowtie.
In his bowtie, in a regular tie, in a t-shirt, in a dress shirt, in a burlap sack……..
Girllllllllllllllllllllllll you gots it baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.
Hey, its his fault for looking so good. Its always “Obama’s fault” — lol
Or in his swim tru…..
Nah I better not go there.
heh heh heh
President Obama looks nice, okay where is the First Lady? You know I want to see what she is wearing. Don’t get me wrong, I love myself some POTUS, but I also love FLOTUS. Where is she?
Just added a couple of pics!
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL…AND THANK YOU CHIPS…I WAS SO HAPPY TO BE ABLE TO SEE IT…:)
Our President is truely a world class Statesman!
Wonderful speech President Obama..truly a heart felt thank you for all who where the uniform..past,present and future
Rats. I just missed it. I’ll have to wait until Chips posts it. In the meantime can anyone write a quick summary of what he said? Please.
It’s 50% uploaded Betsy, hang in there!
Yeah!!! YOU ARE SO AWESOME!!! Thanks so much!!!! Love you.
Here you go Betsy – the quality is poor, but I’ll post the official video as soon as it appears.
This one really was so deeply emotional. It literally felt like he was weeping inside as he spoke. Completely knocked me out.
#PRESSON
I’m with you Bob. And like in that interview with Woodruff, I adore how he is sombre about all of this, no chestbeating crap, how he remembers the victims on all sides, and how he refuses to talk in bullshit terms like ‘victory!’, when there as no victory for anyone in that madness. He is just a class act.
you’re right Chipstick – class act
Indeed, Chips, IN_DEED!
Thank you.
#PRESSON
Thanks SOOOOOOO much 😀 😀
You’re welcome Betsy!
His words are so sincere.
Thank youuuuuuu Chipsticks for the heads up 🙂
Our President speaks with words that touch our hearts and our minds.
What a man!
oops WEAR the uniform
I love my President 🙂
LOL! I have conceded that you really really love YOUR president! 🙂
sorry ut, you left out one o.
you lose.
😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆
Amk, it’s Feb 29 – will you marry me?
Yye….. Wait, is that a trick question ?
No, no – it’s perfectly within my rights to propose on leap day. And if you turn me down you have to buy everyone here a gift. The decision is yours.
Ah, it is a trick question.
ummm, lemme see, which is going to burn me more, hitching up with you or buying everyone here a gift ?….
It’s a no-braner….
How is that for a mittenesque answer ?
You flip-flopping, unprincipled frog. I withdraw my offer. You missed your chance. Never again. Like, ever.
phew, it was a close shave.
/happy dancing mitt.
Chipsticks – you just make up rules are you go along! LOL!!!!!!
The President is so special…..sometimes i just cannot find the words to express it
PBO always seems to strike the right pose and tone for each individual event. He is quite different from the guy who spoke to union members yesterday. This is an amazing quality. He does it without losing himself.
Keep Bo away from the steaks and lamb chops!! 😆 😆
Heh !!!
==========================

Gorgeous!
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you Chipstickis, I knew you would come through for me. It was worth the wait. FLOTUS looks great, wonderful, gorgeous . I tell you, I have never follow a President or First Lady like I have Barack and Michelle Obama. I am so “DAM” proud of them.
The First Lady looks absolutely exquisite! The gown just flows with her. OH MY GOD!!!
Just when you think she couldn’t look any more beautiful, she goes it again. She is absolutely stunning in that dress like a Greek goddess.
As usual, FLOTUS looks stunning…
Absolutely gorgeous! What a beautiful and blessed couple!
I know! FLOTUS is stunning!! She has such wonderful style & taste!
And how wonderful treat for the military guests!! 🙂
Eat your heart out Ann Romney, you can only dream and wish, but you don’t and will never come close to our First Lady. I don’t care how much money you have. It’s not about the money, either you have it or you and you don’t.
Beautiful Flotus !
This is her best hairstyle.
She doesn’t have a bad one.
Ok…I want that blue gown our beautiful first Lady is wearing. She should be on the Red Carpet!
she did walk the red carpet. Look upthread at the first pic posted by Chips 9:23 p.m. 🙂
l
Michelle is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fine.
FLOTUS is smiling like her husband just told her that she is the most beautiful woman in the world. Or he sung it to her.
Stop this Chips, I have work to do.
Sorry Japa, I won’t do that again. Promise. No more distractions. Get to work.
You are cruel, but I like it.
Make room for me on the naughty mat japa two one. I got the ice.
I hope it’s a lot. The one just above the magazine cover is making me sweat.
Not to worry. I’ve got a fan too. 😀
Japa and Yardarm squeezed on to a naughty mat – you know, I’d pay to see that!!!
Hide and watch. You might learn a bit.
Not getting much work done, huh? **evil**
japa21, since you have to work I will ask Chipsticks to put up afew pictures of Mrs. Newt Gingrich. That should help you. Now don’t ever say I haven’t done anything for you. 🙂 Okay.
Up here we look after each other. Sweet dreams japa21.
Okay! Na, I couldn’t do that to Japa …..
do not…..look…at eyes……..no….not….the……….eyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeez Susanne, how can you not appreciate the warmth and beauty of those eyes? 😯
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW (Running from thread)!! Make it go away!!!

No need to thank me japa21. 🙂
Seriously what is up with that woman? She’s absolutely terrifying.
Thanks Chipsticks for the pictures of our beautiful First Lady

Ah, phew! What happened the site Bob?
Seems a combination of an attack and a total remake of their format as you will see when you visit, Chips.
Jason had tweeted me earlier today thanking for all the support and that they were working with their security group.
#PRESSON
Ah wow, just visited, it looks good! I didn’t know if it had been hacked or if they were just re-designing – it was both?
So glad to see they are back and looking new and different 🙂 So glad that you gave your support…one of my daily visits is to this site…thanks, Bob.

INDEED…OUR ‘TIMEX’ PRESIDENT…KEEPS ON TICKIN!’
Pray for POTUS on his trip to N.H. and N.Y.
i’m so glad our president and first lady are honoring military families this way. during the shrub years, i remember all the ‘support our troops’ rhetoric and bumperstickers and so on, but it was really about supporting shrub and his decisions.
i grew up in a military family, and, as many of you know, blindingly bright polished brass, sharp creases in the uniform, and a proud display of rows of medals is thoroughly enjoyed by all. i remember my dad polishing his ceremonial sword, and preparing all the trappings of his uniform for the marine ball. and i also remember my mom selecting the most lovely dress, and cinderella shoes, and having her hair done.
military folks put up with a lot of grit in their lives, so when an opportunity to look good comes along, they enjoy it completely. i truly feel the pride and honor that tonight’s event has engendered. thank you mr president, mrs obama, mr vice president, and dr biden for your unwavering support for these americans.
Amen.
And Amen.
Agreed. 100%. I thought everyone knew this, or is this the other “dirty little secret”?
I believe you are correct. That is also the reason they are against interracial relationships, particularly when the woman is white. Because in their warped thinking her womb is for producing white babies. I’ve always believed that racists are far more repulsed by a child who is the product of such a union than by a child born of two black parents. This is an unspoken reason why they hate PBO so much. They are trying to prevent what they see as their impending minority status in this country.
There’s one more secret. It’s okay for white men to drop some ‘seed’ in the ‘slave’ quarters on occassion.
I wasn’t sure if I should share this because it is so disturbing but I think we have to be informed. Read both sections.
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/02/29/the-cult-of-christian-dominionism-or-its-not-a-cult-my-beloved-leader-and-all-of-his-followers-tell-me-so/
Bingo.
but we are impacted by political decisions of your government (war, peace, the world economy, and much smaller issues that affect individual lifestyles)
That’s why I am an obot. If only hos own party had stood by him thick and through, we would have seen many more sane developments beneficial to all around the world.
hello OzFan…
thank you so much for your supporting comments…it is nice to hear from another world view…and i agree…that there have always been Americans who vote against their own interests blinded by hatred and fear….
but then there are folks who see clearly…..
Thank you ….
Presssssssssssssss ON!
PRESS ON!!!!!!!
A SEAL Team also rescued a Danish man & American woman who were prisoners in Somalia.
That was a beautiful speech the President gave.
The First Lady is lovely as usual.
Full Video (w/o Dempsey and Panetta) up on the WH website http://www.whitehouse.gov/photos-and-video/video/2012/02/29/president-and-first-lady-honor-troops-who-served-iraq-and-afghanis
Excellent LOL, thanks a million, just updated the post with the WH video – thank you!
Did anymore know that Wyoming was voting today? Only 2,000 people voted. Romney “won”….
2,000?!?! Nooooooooooo! 😆
I KNOW!! 🙂 Real Whopper!
They’re all fired up!
They certainly are Hopefruit, feel the heat:
😕
LOL. you’re too much.
🙂
There was a wyoming primary today ?
Caucus. http://www.cnn.com/2012/02/29/politics/primaries/index.html?hpt=hp_c1
Pathetic.
Thx df. Didn’t even know that there was a caucus there today.
I know wy is a pathetic little red state. But still …
Actually, it happened a few days ago but for some reason it’s taking them days to release the final results. Wolf released some early results Tuesday night and said the final results should be available Wednesday.
fuck, even grey lady’s ‘delegate tracker’ doesn’t mention wyoming.
http://elections.nytimes.com/2012/primaries/delegates
And just to change the subject a minute, how about Mitt saying he didn’t support the Blunt Amendment, then coming back afew minutes later saying of course he support the Blunt amendment. He just didn’t understand the question when first asked of him, America if you believe that I have a bridge to no where to sell you. Ann Romney, that is one of the reasons why your husband is a lying sorry campaigner. Don’t try to blame the media, for Mitt’s problems.
That’s old Mitt, the Resolute. The irony is just jaw-dropping.
Ok, people let me tell you now, if you receive a forwarded email and you would feel uncomfortable sending the email to your minority friends but you forward it on to your friends and family who are not “ethnic” or minority, then guess what, I’m sorry but I’m gonna consider you a racist….TRUST!
Federal judge admits he sent anti-Obama, racist e-mail<
this guy needs to resign, and he needs to feel the heat that makes him resign. not that little match thingy upthread! a big big flamethrower of heat!!!!
Oh Pamela, what a day. There are no words for your compassion, you’re amazing.
Tonight I feel a little less than amazing, I am just so tired. But, thank you, I appreciate hearing you say that! G’nite! (I wish my phone would stop ringing!)
Chips thank you so much for the videos of tonight events.
My pleasure Sonjia, thank you.
Very good read!
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-03-01/middle-class-welfare-state-invisible-by-design-commentary-by-ezra-klein.html
Yep, ignorance is their bliss! Sad isn’t it?
PBO campaign should use that question often, “Do you use any of these 21 social programs ? if yes, then it’s your government working for you”
Yep. I agree. It should be the first thing out of the Presidents mouth when giving a speech.
YES ,…Amk….
we need to challenge this notion …that government programs are dirty words….it is how our government work for us/…The Repubs have won this message that a government programs only help the poor…
oil subsidies…those special tax loopholes….etc…for the wealthy are government programs…it is time for the Dems to take control of this message….
PRESSSSSSSSSS ON!
Wow. Hearing the old recording of war hero Bob Kerrey singing the song Waltzing Matilda on Lawrence O’Donnell’s show tonight = breathtaking.
Ah, missed that Jacqueline, will look it up tomorrow – that song just breaks my heart. Especially Tom Waits’ adaptation, Tom Traubert’s Blues.
http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=IE#/watch?v=XrkThaBWa5c
jacquelinebboomer, it was indeed. I pray the people of Nebraska will give Bob Kerry a chance. I think he will be a hell of alot better that Ben the trader Nelson.
It was, he is going back to the Senate!
Such an aussie song even – He did so well but I have to admit to loving the John Williamson version (aussie accent and all)
Bob Kerrey seems like an interesting man – he must be if he knows Aussie songs – LOL – do hope he does well.
Waltzing Matilda (the original) started as a poem by one of our favorite poets – A B (Banjo) Patterson.
http://alldownunder.com/australian-authors/banjo-paterson/waltzing-matilda.htm
Especially since Sen Kerrey lost both legs in the Viet Nam War.
Was this downplayed today?? Because it’s a BFD.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/03/01/us-korea-north-usa-talks-idUSTRE81S13R20120301
(Reuters) – North Korea has agreed with the United States to suspend major elements of its atomic weapons program in a surprise breakthrough that could pave the way for the resumption of long-stalled nuclear disarmament talks with the secretive state.
Good Night all. have a bless night.
i saw it mentioned on several sites, and on the radio today. it was not treated as a bfd, but maybe because they’re not sure if kim will be a reliable bargaining partner.
I am afraid North Korea is starving. One of the conditions PBO used was no food shipments until they come back to the table. Meep Meep

Thank Chipsticks, this site is a fangurl’s dream.
Can President Obama and the First Lady be any more perfect *sigh*

Lol, did any of the evening news mentioned high gas prices today, after being outed as RNC
pundit talking points? TIA
I was glad to see Bernie Sanders on Ed Show explaining the real reason why gas prices are going up. Speculation by Wall Street, and who’s side is Wall Street on this year? The Republican Party. I think they are working hand in hand in hopes of damaging POTUS chance of winning. I just hope and pray Americans doesn’t fall for the Republicans-Wall St. plan.
Well, finally Bernie Sanders says something right.
The President to raise 5 million in NYC-

I bet you The President had a 50 million dollar month!
If Rachel Maddow hears the President’s explanation of why their has been no NYC ticker tape parade, maybe she’ll shut up about it. Sorry, but this is just one more issue where she thinks she knows better than the President.
And she is stubborn! Earlier, she had a graph that said this President was more moderate than Bill Clinton.
No way in Hell!!!
Let’s wait till all our men and women are home from war.
more jingoism from this woman and she whines about Obama being not librul enough ? The CD if it all burns.

President Barack Obama has attended 96 fundraisers since kicking off his reelection bid last year, according to Mark Knoller of CBS. The president is scheduled to hit four more Thursday in New York, bringing his total to 100.
Jovie, the way I see it, ain’t nothing going to get done in Congress this election season, so POTUS have to do what he has to do. Which is raise money to defeat those radical do nothing Republicans.
I love when he fundraises. I hope he does over 200 fundraisers!
Watch Mark Knoller’s head explode in 3…2…1..
The demand shows that renewable-energy projects, which provide reliable revenue through long-term contracts to sell power to utilities, are becoming more appealing to investors, said Chris Yonan, a project finance director at Barclays Capital, which led a group of investment banks in underwriting the debt.

good night tod ohana. pleasant dreams!
President Obama said: You know that freedom is not free……
This nonsense where the Blunt Amendment can be “attached” to the Transportation Bill, really burns me up.
Anybody ever heard of CLEAN BILL.
I know that they all do this, but what the hell does Healthcare and Moral objection, have to do with creating jobs/infrastructure?
Grrrrrrr…..
Obama/Biden 2012
Well, since the Transportation bill is awful, then both pieces of legislation can go down in flames, and the American people will do JUST fine!
Morning 🙂
Exactly!
They need that to be renewed in 30 days, or transportation funding runs out!!!
Let them fund it with extensions like they’ve BEEN doing. We can fix it after Nov providing the SERIOUS lawmakers take over!
