(Today Goldwater, considered a fanatic in his day, would be maybe about the 15th-most-conservative Republican senator.) But all Romney cares about, all any of them care about, is getting and keeping political power. They can’t see the obvious paradox — that their lust for the White House is making them submit to all the wishes of a fanatical base, which is exactly what will keep them from winning the White House.
Remember that satirical Brecht line about it being perhaps easier for the government to dissolve the people and elect a new one? It’s not a new candidate the right needs. It’s a new electorate.

You are so correct, Chips. I have all of them and some in duplicates for my two great nieces. We have the history for ourselves , and that is how I look at the entire situtation. Some of my friends, say the same about me,and I tell them that they really do not know me after all. Let us enjoy the history before our own eyes. I have a box full of stuff. Newspapers, magazines, etc. Even have that Michelle Obama comic book. I have a subscription to Essence magazine and a special edition they had on Pres.Obama’s election was sent to me with a small tear on the cover. I e-mailed the magazine and told them I got a damaged issue and that they need to send another. Got a new one within days. Its still in the brown envelope they sent it in. I never contact a magazine about a damaged issue. If I can read it I don’t care but THIS was a Pres.Barack Obama issue.
I bought 5 of those comic books. Kept two for myself. 🙂

By the end of the year, motors for cutting-edge electric vehicles will be built from scratch in a sprawling $244 million plant under construction next to GM’s factory, now called General Motors Baltimore Operations.
About 189 workers will be hired to build the motors for a new generation of plug-in electric and hybrid vehicles, joining the 220 employees at the existing plant. The new plant’s first order of business will be building motors for the Chevrolet Spark, a five-door mini-car with a hatch that GM plans to roll out in 2013, according to a company spokeswoman.

Frank Schaeffer was one of the guest on Rev Al’s show. IMO, often times a person who has been in the belly of the beast (figure of speech) and actually helped to create the beast can give the best analysis of the actual agenda. Schaeffer knows exactly the mindset of many far right evangelicals, of which Rick Santorum is one. Schaeffer made it clear that Santorum is NOT playing politics. The stuff he spews is exactly what he believes. He and those such as Franklin Graham who are questioning the President’s religion know exactly what they are doing.
If you have a chance to watch that segment and you don’t have a weak stomach, I suggest you watch it.
The very evil picture that these two “christian” people are trying to paint President Obama as will rebound against them. They should both be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. I am disgusted with them. Never have thought much of Frankie Graham and I think NOTHING of Santorum.

Some Republicans–including the presidential candidates– are trying to frame getting contraception for women covered through the new Obama health care law as an issue of religious liberty.

WASHINGTON–Back from a long Presidents Day weekend in Aspen, First Lady Michelle Obama is headlining a major donor fund-raiser lunch here Tuesday before hosting a Blues evening at the White House.
Mrs. Obama is heading to Cincinnati and Louisville on Thursday for more fund-raising in critical battleground turf. On Wednesday, Mrs. Obama will be on a conference call for “Women for Obama,” where she will speak to some 1,000 house parties across the nation.
The Tuesday high dollar fund-raiser–which was not on Mrs. Obama’s original schedule– is for an Obama “Women and Technology” event, an Obama 2012 spokesman said. The lunch is at the Mayflower Hotel with the tab ranging from $5,000 to $20,300 for those who want seating or picture perks. The base price is $1,000. Mrs. Obama’s last fund-raising swing–which was put on her schedule–was at the end of January in California.

Horses in the Chicago Police Department’s Mounted Unit assigned to crowd control during the NATO and G-8 summits will be outfitted with “riot gear,” just like the officers riding them and those on the ground facing off against protesters.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s administration is soliciting bids for “police horse riot gear and training aids” in preparation for the May 19-21 summits at McCormick Place expected to shine an international spotlight on Chicago.
The solicitation specifically requests: leather nose guards — 22 inches long and five inches wide — with “impact-absorbing foam”; clear, wrap-around visors to protect the horse’s eyes; 17-inch-long rear leg shields and 11-inch-long front leg shields, both made of “high-impact plastic” and soft foam; and “training aids” for horses, including a “crowd control training ball set.”
The mounted unit has 30 horses, 30 officers and an annual budget of nearly $2.7 million.
