Air Force One touched down at San Francisco International Airport at 12:39 p.m. The president’s first stop will be at a private reception at the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental Hotel on Nob Hill at 2 p.m.

Brown thinks the proposal is little more than a modest plan to ensure a religious exemption. There are really only two options here: (1) Brown didn’t read the amendment before endorsing it; or (2) he read it but didn’t understand it.
As a result, the senator is taking a beating from reporters who know better. Brown not only looked foolish during this NECN interview, but the Boston Globe’s Yvonne Abraham asked, “What is Senator Scott Brown thinking? … Can it really help Brown to suddenly go all Santorum on us?” The Boston Herald’s Margery Eagan added that the senator “has sided with nuts.”

Kamala Harris was really happy to see President Obama. Lavender hat girl was thrilled to pieces to meet him, her best day ever. Put these observances on the Not Shocking list.
I know FLOTUS is a role model for many women everywhere but there is a certain generation of women who could never imagine meeting the first lady in the White House, that she would be African American and that she would give her hugs so generously. That brought tears to my eyes.

And some of the elderly women who I knew they never thought in their life time they would walk through the WH and there standing to greet them is a lovely African American woman, who is the First Lady. Wow!!!!

I do believe that the President is going to win. We all will need to do all much work to make it happen. Then we all must work hard on all our local elections. We must give this President a congress he can work with. Also we must take our states back. I am very concerned about my state of Montana. I plan to work on local elections and to get Tester reelected as Senator. I have had lots of disagreements with him but the alternative is Rehberg and that is a non starter. He is a rich repub who toes the party line.

A new Democracy Corps survey has found that the Republican Party has begun 2012 by falling into state of near collapse, as over 50% of those polled gave the GOP a negative rating.
The Democracy Corps poll found three reasons for the Republican decline. The candidates for the Republican presidential nomination, the unpopular Republicans in Congress, and the GOP’s attempts to revive the culture wars with the religious liberty and contraception issues. Fifty percent of those surveyed gave the Republican Party a negative rating. A majority of both seniors (54%) and Independents (52%) now have negative feelings towards the GOP.
The Republicans in Congress have set the tone of negativity towards their party. Sixty eight percent of voters had negative opinion about congressional Republicans, which is a 22 point increase over the past 12 months. Seniors have made the biggest move against congressional Republicans going from a 45%-43% net positive rating to a net 28%-66% disapproval of congressional Republicans. Independents have also turned on the congressional Republicans. Last year, 45% of Independents disapproved of congressional Republicans. Today, that number has jumped to 71%.
I just hope this isn’t happening too early. People have already forgotten most of the excellent work done these past three years – who caused the economic crisis and how scared everyone was, the Gulf oil spill response and the $20 billion “shake down”, pirates, Trump take-down, OBL… With attention spans so short, will they remember the war on women by November?

I understand the threat of “peaking too early”. But I think this is a tidal wave that will just keep coming and coming. There’s literally nothing the GOP can do in the next 9 months—almost down to 8!—that will get them in the public’s good graces again. Especially now that the President’s major policy for 2012—payroll tax, UI extension, and doc fix—is out of the way, he can ignore the GOP Congress—except when he’s hammering them for being abject failures at legislation. If I’ve learned anything over the past 3 years, is that PBO is a master at milking the moment, and at timing.
I am with you LL, I don’t think it PBO policies are “peaking too early”, they are happening as he planned it they would. Actually, if not for the GOP/TEA obstruction, the recovery would have occured last year. I think that after the 2010 elections, he started doing things to turn the economy around that did not need the dysfunctinal congresses permission.
Obama’s cunning plan is coming to fruition. 🙂
I could not agree more, LL 🙂 This won’t go away. They just keep ramping up the crazy. People won’t forget all that has happened (or NOT happened) because of them. They will need to have it all come crashing down around them and regroup from the ashes. I hope, into a kinder, more intelligent,pragmatic party…without the ideologues running the show.
In the mean time, PBO plods along, slow but steady. I also believe that the stimulative programs that he is able to put through on his own, will have a domino effect throughout these coming months, and things will just keep getting better and better. It will feed off itself, and snowball…for the good of the country.
Republicans can’t govern. They never could. I think as more and more people pay attention, and see what’s actually happening around them…many will see that they have been lied to for a long time. The rhetoric from Republicans doesn’t match with the reality. Are people going to ignore what they actually see right in front of them? I don’t think so. If they keep going, and pissing more people off…the climb back is going to be long and “severely” 🙂 slow. Republican version of a colon cleanse! Enema! Aw…they should just put an asprin between their knees and call us when they’re done screwing themselves!

Air traffic controllers repeatedly tried to contact the pilot of a Cessna 182 who strayed into President Obama’s airspace Thursday morning, prompting defense officials to scramble two F-16 fighter jets, authorities said.
The pilot did not respond, the sources said.
The fighter jets intercepted the plane and it eventually landed without incident at Long Beach Airport, where it was met by law enforcement officials.
Authorities told The Times that they seized as much as 10 kilograms of marijuana on the plane.
The White House said it would not comment on the matter. After his morning fundraisers, Obama left from LAX at 2:45 p.m. en route to San Francisco, according to the White House.

The Network News was pretty good this evening. The lead was of automobile industry! The economist interviewed by CBS and who I’ve seen before and who has been very optimistic said that he thought unemployment would go down another percentage point this year! 7.3 here we come.
