    Good night everyone.

  2. February 10, 2012 at 8:31 pm

Chips, if you keep showing all those pictures of Michelle, I’ll never make it to the comment section.

Anyway, a belated congratulations to LL for his TPV gig. What I am about to say is not meant in any way as a disparagement of nor a reflection on the fine posters who already are part of TPV. But I fully expect to see TPVs hits skyrocket now the LL is in residnce.

I love me some Boss. I posted the video a couple of days ago suggesting it would be the perfect theme song for Obama 2012.

The emoleft once again sniveling about the White House “caving” on this religious birth control nonsense. They truly want a Republican in the White House!

    • February 10, 2012 at 8:39 pm

Actually I peaked at “kos” today and they saw it as a big win for the President. I know you visit HuffNPuff nin but that place I’m convinced is made up of Paulites masquerading as “outraged liberals”. Facebook, Twitter, ThinkProgress, DK and TPM commentors were all giving this a big thumbs up for the most part. Huff is the only place I have seen that is unhappy with this.

I checked Daily Klotz and really there was nothing but praise to PBO and the way he destroyed the wingnuts today. Some of the “Left” are so far gone, it’s a waste of energy to even listen to them.

The Springsteen song and video is absolutely perfect. I wonder how many sets of strings that man has to replace on his guitar after every performance. He puts every ounce of his being in his songs. He’s a joy to watch. And this song, “We take care of our own” is perfect for President Obama, perfect for his agenda, his soul, his heart.

To borrow from Stevie Wonder, “Isn’t she lovely?” This phrase can be applied to Rep. Giffords and our FL. The emoleft will always be the emoleft, just as the far right will always be the far right, and Romney, Santorum, and Gingrich will always be dishonest pols. There’s no changing them. The Republicans have now taken on the Catholic church’s failed attempt to stop women from using birth control.

Since the conservatives have no positive plans for the average working American or the nation’s economy, all they can talk about today are the nation’s social issues. But now, with the help of the Catholic church, they have decided to attack the part of β€œObamacare” that provides health care and no-cost contraception to workers in businesses owned by religious organizations. This includes religious owned schools, hospitals and other businesses outside the actual churches.

Once again, the GOP seems to be in the process of taking on the wrong subjects.

Did you catch Mitt’s ending? He was obviously well-coached with this three talking points. i thought it so in keeping with his personality to add that he pays all his legal taxes and not a penny more (loosely speaking)? So Mitt obviously hasn’t been hearing that the economy need those who make more than average to do their fair share, especially in times of crisis. Also, i would be tempted to ask Willard if putting his money offshore earns no advantage, why not leave it in the exceptional America that he so loves.

Obama Completely Neuters The GOP’s Cries Of A War On Religion

Obama was able to acknowledge and answer the concerns about religious liberty without having to violate his pledge to make contraception coverage available to more women. A compromise has been crafted that most in both parties are happy with.

Most significantly President Obama took a right wing attack which was designed to question his faith, and turned it into an exhibition of his moderation. As Republicans continue to move to the right, Obama complete owns the sensible middle. The president countered a baseless right wing attack, and put his full presidential prowess on display.

Obama showed the country what a president should act like, and demonstrated the sort of political skills that are likely to win him a second term.

    • February 10, 2012 at 10:03 pm

Best line” “As Republicans continue to move to the right, (President) Obama owns the sensible middle.” I would say he owns the middle and all contiguous territory to the left and right because the R’s are moving so far right they are going off the line. The Rs sound more extremist and out of touch with each passing day. The crazy is reaching warp speed.

    By Rachel Maddow

After Mississippi rejected β€œpersonhood” and its threat to contraception, after Colorado rejected it twice, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul all attended (by satellite) a Personhood USA candidates forum in South Carolina. All signed a pledge to pursue β€œpersonhood” at the federal level. Mitt Romney did not attend the event, but when asked on Fox News ahead of the Mississippi vote whether he would have supported such a measure as Massachusetts governor, he replied, β€œAbsolutely.”

This is critical context for understanding the national media scrum over health insurance and contraception. Taken together β€” Republicans’ condemnation that birth control be a required benefit of health insurance, their insistence that Planned Parenthood lose all federal funding, their threat to cut federal Title X support for birth control and their support for β€œpersonhood” measures that threaten the legality of hormonal birth control β€” today’s Republican candidates are all Ken Buck now.

h/t Rachel Maddow just shamelessly plugged his editorial on her show.

there will be two on sax on the next tour: I forgot the name of one of them but the second is Jake Clemons ( I think I have the first name right) who is Clarence’s nephew. How hot is that? I rebooted my computer. I noticed that Twitter has a new set up. But I still can’t find the little box that Donna and the others have been seeing. Guess I won’t rest until I find my little box!

Yeah, how do you use it Bobfr? I downloaded it the last time you and Theo suggested, but it’s just sitting on my desktop doing nothing. So, what’s next? I even tried clicking on it, but … nothing.

              HI amk & vc,

              Launch the Tweetdeck application.

In it’s standard mode, you will see the tweets from all your ‘friends’ (i.e., all those you have followed) streaming in the right most column. You will see Tweets from anyone who ‘mentions’ you in the next column. And, you will see all your ‘DMs’ (i.e., direct messages to those you follow who also follow you) in the next column.

The yellow icon at the top of the screen that represents a tablet and pen is the one you click and it opens a window over all the columns. That’s where you type your tweets.

They have a very easy to follow tutorial on all of these features and many others they support. All you need to do is read through the various categories listed on the http://www.tweetdeck.com ‘front page.’

              Hope this helps.

        • February 11, 2012 at 12:17 am

Here was my initial reaction to the new Twitter:

sonamie Yipes! What has Twitter done with the layout? I DON’T like this! I don’t read this way. Yikes! What can’t be cured must be endured? Sigh.

sonamie Wonder whose brilliant idea it was to switch things up THIS way? I turn my back for a little bit and ….voila! Chaos.

I don’t even know how to bring a tweet over anymore! These were from Wednesday night.

      • February 10, 2012 at 10:48 pm

I, too, only use tweetdeck. Makes life very simple. I like simple. Simple is good.

    • February 10, 2012 at 10:36 pm

You have to be logged into wordpress to see it, hopefruit. When you’re logged in, the upper right hand side of your screen, you see your username and avatar. To the left is the little box that has a number in it…possibly even zero.

    • February 10, 2012 at 10:37 pm

I *hate* the new Twitter setup. Before I could read the tweets of followers of the Twitterer I was on. Got a lot of good information that way. No longer. Why did they have to muck up a perfectly good thing?

Chica, thank you so much for this video. Some of you know that I have a young son with special needs. I am on an advisory committee to the National ARC and I actually planned to attend this meeting, but life got in the way. I SO LOVE THIS MAN.

PBO handles so many things at once with such grace, intelligence and goodheartedness. The fact that he stopped by this meeting means so much to so many who are often forgotten, neglected, mistreated and abused.

A bit of history — ARC used to stand for “The Association of Retarded Citizens” For what I hope is obvious reasons, they now go by just the initials “ARC” and they represent people with a variety of intellectual, physical and developmental disabilities.

      • February 10, 2012 at 11:03 pm

Isonprize, I didn’t know you had a son with special needs, although my memory is so abysmal you might well have told me before. Good grief, ‘The Association of Retarded Citizens’ ….. I truly hope the world has come a long way, that is just shocking.

If it wasn’t for you, I would not have that photo!! He’s got lots of special needs, but I won’t go in to detail. He is a teenager, and I want to respect his privacy… 😯 (I am a ‘mama bear’ though, when it comes to his rights and his quality of life)

Their gifts and abilities are not lost on this man.

Thank you for your work on the ARC committee, isonprize. It is time well spent. I think they should change the name to: The Association of Extraordinary Citizens.” That would be more appropriate, in my eyes.

Now this is a fraudulent practice the GOP would wholeheartedly endorse while claiming to “save” Medicare:

HEADLINE: Medicare fraudster gets 3 years in erectile pump case.

// PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – An Illinois man was sentenced Friday by a federal judge in Rhode Island to more than three years in prison for shipping unwanted penis enlargers to diabetes patients as part of a larger fraud scheme that prosecutors say bilked $2.2 million from Medicare over four years…..Winner purchased penis enlargers for an average of $26 each from online sex shops and then repackaged and shipped them to patients with information claiming the so-called “erectile pumps” helped “bladder control, urinary flow and prostate comfort,” according to court papers outlining the charges against him. The online stores peddling adult sexual products sold the devices under a variety of names, prosecutors said. //

This is what she said: “Thank you all. I’ve been scolded and attacked enough. I wish Chips my very best and all of you at the TOD family.”

“I’m seriously tired of being scolded.

I respect your opinion and would ask that if some of us have concerns in real time we not be treated like naughty children.

This stridency will shut off any discussion. We should be better than that.”

I’m sorry she feels that way. 57 if you’re reading this know that we were all in our emotions last night and this morning. We all want PBO to succeed and we all care about women’s health. Good evening all; long day and just getting a chance to check-in and catch up. Been a hectic week — finally feeling well enough to be out and about. Had a neighborhood team meeting this evening — final push to get petitions signed; they have to be filed by 5:00 pm on Tuesday. Our county OFA office should be opening in the next couple of weeks — CAN’T WAIT!

Big news is we have a great candidate for PA-7 (Joe Sestak’s old seat); looking to change this CD back to BLUE!

No, for whatever reason, he decided not to run.

BTW, did you hear – the Federal Court in Philadelphia has thrown out the challenge to the PA Supreme Court’s decision invalidating the redistricting of the state House and Senate. The Court said the April 24 Primary Election can proceed using the 2001 boundaries and denied the request for an injunction. This means we proceed under the old boundaries. WISH they had also challenged the US legislative districts; PA-7 now includes portions of five counties which is absolutely ridiculous.

  59. February 11, 2012 at 12:46 am

Okay, I’m trying to find this box thing.

  60. February 11, 2012 at 12:47 am

Okay, here’s how to get the new fangled stuff.
You need an account with WordPress. For those of you with gravatars, you already have this account which I figure you automatically got when you signed up or gravatars. All you need to do is…..
    1. Go to wordpress.com
    2.Here there are two options:
    a) there’s a skinny little section at the top of the page under the address bar that asks for your username or email address and password. For those with gravatars, just used the email address and password associated with your gravatars account. This should sign you in and then you are taken to Dashbord. On that screen may be one or two columns. The one on the left will have a list of Hot Topics or whatever it’s called. In that box are three tabs hit the one that says ‘Top Blogs’ skim thru the list and you’ll find TOD. It’s a short list so you’ll find it quickly. The screen will take you to TOD and under the address bar you’ll see your gravatars and all that good stuff.

    b) for those without a gravatars account, got to WordPress.com, on the left hand side, you’ll see a huge orange button that says: ‘Get Started Here’———-> click.
——-you’ll see a page come up that says:’GetYour own WordPress.com account in seconds’
——- on the right hand side, beside the first box on the left that says:Blog Address, you will see in blue hyperlink: ‘sign up for just a username’
—— it takes you to another page where you enter your username( the one you already use, regardless of what it says about the number of characters it used).
——–it’ll ask you for a password and then it will ask for confirmation and it will ask for you email address. Use the one that you use to sign on to this site. after that, it should take you to Dashboard. From there, follow instructions from part 2a.
    Good luck!!

    • February 11, 2012 at 12:54 am

So I cut out the middle man, for people with and without gravatars, you can start here.

People with gravatars, if you decide to enter your info in the big boxes in the body of the HTML page, keep in mind that if you enter your Username like ‘Liberal Librarian’ you may Get a response like (((this name is already in use.)))) it ill further prompt you by asking if this name that’s already in use is you. If you have a gravatars account, chances are its you, so then it’ll ask for your password. Use the one that you generated for your gravatars account. It’s easy peasy πŸ˜‰

A major freak out is occurring on the right as a new poll released by a Republican polling company has found that 20% of Republicans are more likely to vote for Obama.

The poll done by Republican polling firm Wenzel Strategies for World Net Daily found something similar to my own recent analysis of state polling data that the 2012 election is beginning to look like a replay of 2008. The Wenzel/WND poll turned up the surprising statistic that no matter who the Republican nominee is, one fifth of the Republican voters surveyed are leaning towards voting for President Obama.

I honestly think there are some Republicans out there who do not like what their party have become, they have gone to far to the right, they have become too radical and they won’t admit it to their family or friends I believe some will vote for the man who has shown his self to be the adult in the room. That’s our President Obama. OBAMA/BIDEN 2012

And the first thing that leaps into the Republican mind at these results–we’re not conservative enough. Let’s go deeper and deeper into crazy land and the we’ll be sure to win those Republicans back. The current version of the Republican party is incapable of self-analysis.

Did anyone notice that Ricky Sweater Vest’s benefactor also wears a Sweater Vest ? Also Mr Fries told a joke at CPAC yesterday.

      Here it is:

A Conservative…..A Liberal ……and a Moderate walk into a bar. The bartender looks up and says ” Hi Mitt ”

      kind of funny.

I really liked these Liberty Voices on WH.gov/live right now. I also liked the Orlando aerial performers. Those girls had only the ground to catch them—great athletes!

Contrary to claims that government benefit programs are creating a dependent class of Americans who are losing the desire to work and would rather collect government benefits than find a job, a major report we issued today finds that these programs’ benefits go overwhelmingly to people who are elderly, disabled, or members of working households.
