β€œThe growth of the company as a whole was very strong in 2011 and these jobs in Newtown Square are part of a larger hiring of about 2,800 people across North America,” said company spokesman Atle Erlingsson. β€œThey will be filled by a broad spectrum of people, from those with 10 or 15 years of experience to interns and those looking for their first job out of college.”

Just got an email from our OFA team leader. Yay us!

With seven steadfast callers, we made 345 calls and had 58 conversations with voters. We recruited 6 potential volunteers for Nevada, 14 supporters for local events, an outstanding 10 people for one-on-ones and added 27 new contacts to our Venice email list. And a special thanks to Chris and LL for jumping in to learn and help out with data entry. For the very first time, we managed to get all the raw data entered by the end of the event!

Mittens wishes he had a ground game like this.

The CEOs of some of the nation’s biggest homebuilding companies say the housing market appears to have stabilized.

But they are careful not to be overly optimistic even with the spring home-selling season coming up in just a few weeks.

Executives at PulteGroup Inc., MDC Holdings Inc., M/I Homes Inc. and Beazer Homes USA Inc. weighed in on the housing market on Thursday after their companies reported financial results for the October-December quarter.

Sales trends for the group were mostly mixed. But all but PulteGroup ended the quarter with far bigger backlogs of homes under contract than a year earlier.

Backlog is a leading indicator of potential home deliveries and revenue for homebuilders.

    Stock Act passed 96-3

    No votes

  12. February 2, 2012 at 7:07 pm

The Senate voted 96 to 3 Thursday to prohibit members of Congress from using non-public information for personal financial gain but beat back a slew of amendments to further limit congressional perks.

The Senate action puts pressure on House Republicans to pass similar legislation to quell allegations of congressional self-dealing at a time when Congress’s approval rating is at an all-time low.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) on Tuesday criticized the Senate legislation as weak. His staff said he would move a strengthened version of the bill to the House floor at the end of the month.

Exactly. Put it out there so the International community can react and apply pressure to Israel to chill out.

Remember Cantor went to Israel during the break. I know in my heart that he encouraged Bibi to attack Iran to drag the President into another war to damage his chances of re-election. It would be non-stop criticism of the President: He should do this, He shouldn’t have done that, 24/7 until the election. The Republicans want this with every fiber of their soulless beings.

ok, so I’m petitioning good thoughts, vibes and prayers for me. I’m a clinical Microbiologist by profession and my dream job is to work for the CDC in ATL. Micrbiology jobs of the kind that I want (laboratory duties more than administrative duties) are few and far between at CDC. But this past week they had 2 Microbiology positions open one administrative the other laboratory and I’ve applied for both. I’ve been waiting at least since I became a Clinical Microbiologist and since I moved from NOLA to DFW (thx Katrina) for a position to be opened. So I applied for both. I am definitely qualified for the laboratory position and it pays the same and a little more as my current job and I’ve educationally qualified for the administrative position, to I applied anyway (I really more in between).

Anyway, I’m taking any and all luck, prayers, and thought…! As my grandmother used to say, I’ve already “claimed it in the name of Jesus”, but I’d still like to add the prayers and good vibes along with…

U.S. Bancorp (USB), the nation’s fifth-largest commercial bank, plans to invest hundreds of millions this year in U.S. renewable energy projects, where the bank sees profit, despite political fallout following the Solyndra scandal.

The bank has invested $680 million in solar and wind-power projects since 2008, with roughly half that amount invested in 2011. This year, the bank plans to boost investment in renewables by 30% over 2011, or roughly $440 million.

The bank continues to see value in solar and wind-power projects, despite the political scandal following the bankruptcy last fall of solar-panel maker and federal-loan recipient Solyndra Inc., and the bankruptcies of other solar companies including Evergreen Solar, said Darren Van’t Hof, director of renewable energy investments. As the fortunes of solar and wind farms rise, investors are considering them as candidates for asset-backed securities, Van’t Hof said.

Appreciate yours and theo’s and GGail’s comments, for sure.

Empathy aside (and, I meant it genuinely) that ‘elderly statesman’ owes this Republic some real leadership at this point – and he owes it to himself and his own legacy. The Party of Lincoln is dead. If he had the strength of character to support President Obama and call for a rebirth of a conservative opposition party he’d actually do the one thing that might give his son Jeb a chance to be taken seriously (though I know a certain MD Governor and a certain MA Senatorial candidate who could and would trounce him in 2016). That Mitt aggressively sought an endorsement from Trump could just be enough of a jolt to enable former President GWH Bush to act in the Republic’s and his legacy’s best interest.

      Thank you!

Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) announced Thursday night that the Senate will take up the conference report on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) funding bill when it returns on Monday.

Reid said that after emerging from conference with the GOP-controlled House the bill was not perfect, but nonetheless critical.

“People worked extremely hard on this,” said Reid. “This is not a perfect piece of legislation, no, it isn’t but we have not had an FAA bill since 2003… I repeat, this bill is not perfect but it’s something that is extremely important for job creation and for making our airports more safe.”

The Senate will return at 2 p.m. on Monday and that vote will take place at 5:30 p.m.Β

In running for re-election, Obama will be able to say he delivered on four core objectives: restoring economic growth in one year after inheriting the worst recession since the 1930s; ending the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq; delivering universal healthcare; and saving the now buoyant American auto sector. And Romney wants to run against Obama’s record. Go for it, Mitt.

Weird strategy – but, the “Republicans for Obama” group is great. They say they’re Americans first, Republicans second. They must be horrified with what’s happened to their party. I’ve seen some of their articles on their website, and they’re well thought out, and often insightful.

  52. February 2, 2012 at 10:47 pm

In my State of the Union Address, I laid out a blueprint for an economy built to last, where everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same set of rules – especially those of us who have been sent here to serve the American people.

Last week, I called on Congress to pass a bill that makes clear that Members of Congress may not engage in insider trading.Β  No one should be able to trade stocks based on nonpublic information gleaned on Capitol Hill. So I’m pleased the Senate took bipartisan action to pass the STOCK Act. I urge the House of Representatives to pass this bill, and I will sign it right away.Β

And while this is an important step to rebuild the trust between Washington and the American people, there is much more work to be done, like prohibiting elected officials from owning stocks in industries they impact, and prohibiting people who bundle campaign contributions for Congress from lobbying Congress, an idea that has bipartisan support outside of Washington.Β  These are straightforward proposals that will help eliminate the corrosive influence of money in politics.

Everyone needs to read this…and pass it along. He has no solutions to problems..especially one as personal and important as this. The fact that Kris Kobach is his advisor, should give EVERYONE pause. He was the guy behind SB 1070…AZ’s infamous immigration law. Short version: A HATER.

(Reuters) – The United States indicted Wegelin, the oldest Swiss private bank, on charges that it enabled wealthy Americans to evade taxes on at least $1.2 billion hidden in offshore bank accounts, the U.S. Justice Department said on Thursday.

The announcement, by federal prosecutors in Manhattan, represents the first time an overseas bank has been indicted by the United States for enabling tax fraud by U.S. taxpayers.

The indictment said the U.S. government had seized more than $16 million from Wegelin’s correspondent bank, the Swiss giant UBS AG, in Stamford, Connecticut, via a separate civil forfeiture complaint. Because Wegelin has no branches outside Switzerland, it used correspondent banking services, a standard industry practice, to handle money for U.S.-based clients.
