Something tells me that from now on whenever our President goes to a rally folks will try to get him to sing a note or two!

I was thinking maybe he could sing his speeches, and then they would get widespread coverage for a change.

I have an uneasy feeling that we should want Mitt to win as he has more problems that fit today’s situation as compared to Newt. Newt seems like he was pretty good at deflecting the Open Marriage question at the debate. Newt also is so mean spirited. Romney lies but doesn’t do it with conviction. I love PBO and may be feeling too protective of him to want him to be against Newt.

Lawmakers have reached a deal on a long-term funding bill for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that is likely to prevent shutdowns of the beleaguered agency for the foreseeable future, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said late Friday afternoon.

The FAA’s funding, contained in a short-term bill that lawmakers approved last fall, had been scheduled to run out Jan. 31. But Reid said in a statement released by his office that a compromise had been reached Friday on thorny labor provisions that have held up an agreement on a long-term measure for the better part of a year.

“I am pleased that we were able to resolve the major obstacles in a manner that protects American workers and clears the way for a long-term extension of the Federal Aviation Administration,” Reid said. “While some issues remain, there is no reason we cannot resolve them in the coming days and avoid any risk of another FAA shutdown.”

    • 49 Cathy from MN
      January 20, 2012 at 8:46 pm

I hope this is the case; I do not think we should ask FAA safety workers to work without pay and be expected to pay their own travel expenses while we go through an idiotic period of ‘no funding’ again. I DO NOT want the individuals responsible for the safety of our air travel worried about their financial security when they are supposed to be ensuring passenger safety.

      • January 20, 2012 at 8:51 pm

It almost means satellite, instead of radar, which would save a lot of fuel for airlines, lower airfares for us!!!

If Romney wasn’t such an asshole, I’d feel bad for him. Sometimes he looks so pathetic trying to handle his lack of comfort in his own skin. I feel bad for people like that usually. However, he’s such an jerk that I am glad he’s having difficulty right now.

What I love about the clip of President Obama singing is that in less than one minute it totally blows away the notion that he does not connect with people. Who could watch that one minute and not have a smile on their face. It was so playful and fun. His smile and that cute little tilt of the head just made me melt.

R&B singer Al Green reportedly approves of President Obama’s rendition of his song “Let’s Stay Together.”

“He nailed it,” Green told TMZ on Friday.

The president sang a brief part of the song Thursday at a fundraiser held at Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater.

The singer also told the website he thought Mr. Obama’s snippet was “terrific” and that he was “thrilled that the president even mentioned my name.” http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31749_162-57363074-10391698/al-green-president-obama-nailed-my-song/

Was this this event with Romney and SC guv? I saw a clip if Romney and his hair was all mussed up and his complexion was redden and the areas around his nose was either red and inflamed or he had wiped off his “makeup”.

Mittens looks like he’s had some “harrowing” days. or maybe he had the “24hour flu”

I noticed his complexion because I’m a microbiologist, so I tend to notice symptoms of possible infections

  27. January 20, 2012 at 8:59 pm

Ha, this is a funny one. Remember this video from earlier this month:

Well, I posted a version of it on YouTube at the time (January 5, I think). I got it from an AOL-owned Patch site.

Now, that’s definitely a YouTube copyright infringement, no arguments at all about that.

But I got no complaints – until an hour ago! 15 days after the video was posted.

I assume it’s a standard YouTube warning to copyright ‘infringers’, it told me that the video had been “removed due to a copyright claim by AOL Inc. and Patch, Inc. on Jan 20, 2012”.

And then came the threat that The Obama Diary YouTube channel and all its videos would be deleted if I received two more ‘strikes’ – this is my first.

Again, no arguments AT ALL about me deserving the ‘strike’, it just seems kind of funny to me that AOL lodged their complaint, about a video that hardly anyone watched, and the threat to delete a pro-PBO YouTube channel that now has almost 4,000 subscribers, came on a day that my ‘President Obama sings Al Green’ video had over a million hits – last I saw it was 1,325,284. (The ‘Baby Whisperer’ video has 1,444,246 views, so Al Green is catching up, fast!).

Maybe they just never noticed the channel before today, so it could all be completely innocent.

The funniest part is that the AOL-owned Huffy Post used YouTube TOD’s PBO/Al Green video on their site …. ooops.

    http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/blogs/national-affairs/how-solutions-get-blocked-and-whos-blocking-them-20120118

Interchanges like this reveal that one reason we’re as stuck as we are is that one side is clearly uninterested in compromise – in working together to solve problems. But instead of saying that, they obfuscate, in this case accusing the other side of partisan inflexibility. To me, it’s a trenchant example, because the senator’s claims are so clearly wrong.

It’s easy and tempting to get disgusted with such exchanges, throw up your hands in despair, and give up on the whole process. But that’s exactly what the obfuscators want you to do. I say we piss them off and pay attention.

To get what Jared Bernstein was talking about here, it was an interview with Pat Toomey….the Senator from PA. Just a short read….but enlightening.

Thank you guys for the kind words. It was an honor and pleasure to share this wonderful experience with you. I forgot to mentioned that the audience did not want to stop chanting FOUR MORE YEARS! And when we finally did, a woman voice shouted, “thank you, Mr. President.”and he replied, “No, thank you.”

My heart sank and I was just taken away with his humility. He said it. He meant it. You really felt it.
It was pure, honesty that came from the most grateful part of his heart. There was a connection that was of mutual respect. And a part of me felt that this is going to take lot of positive energy force to win this election. We must keep this momentum going even after 2016. We will win this not by power, nor by might. But by the will of God and His people who believe in truth, love and freedom for all. Good night, all.

What a wonderful week! Thanks again, Chips for all of your hard work and dedication to this blog. I hope that we all will have an opportunity to meet face-to-face. Until then, the spirit connects and is all that matters.

I swear I heard John King on CNN today saying that there is a internal fight in the Romney camp on whether or not Romney needs to show tax returns.

John King said something about the problem being that Romney is a pretty “private” fellow and that having to release tax return amounts to an invasion of his privacy???

Really Romney, Really??? If you are running for President, unfortunately, you have no privacy!!!

Hell if elected President…you have no privacy.

The fact that they even have to debate this does not bode well for Romney.

If there is nothing in the tax return then release them for Christ’s sake.

I really can’t get over Romney’s answer to John King about his father having released his taxes for 12 years….

I mean how do you NOT have an answer for something that EVERYONE is talking about????

I rarely read Clive Crook, but I totally agree with this blog post of his.

Why Does Romney Want to Be President?

But my own main thought during the debate was to wonder, not for the first time, why Romney even wants to be president. You couldn’t call him a natural politician. The others up there all seemed to belong. There’s nowhere else they’d rather be. Give them an audience and they’ll set the world to rights. But this supposedly new, improved, campaign-polished Romney is still so unconfident, uncomfortable, stammering and inarticulate, you actually feel embarrassed for the guy. He tries to make a virtue of the fact that he isn’t a professional politician–despite his pathological longing to succeed in that line of work–and promptly screws that up too. Did I hear him say he’s “from the streets”? From the streets? …

Yeah, everybody’s will come away with the Newt’s comeback again, but the above is really Romney’s problem.

Not to get all psychological, but Romney seems to me to be running for POTUS 1)cause his father did and was unsuccessful 2) cause he’s supposed??? 3)cause he really “hates” Obama???

Number 1, is probably the biggest reason if you ask me.

It’s an arrogance thing. I mean did you see the smirk that he gave when King asked him would he follow in his father’s footsteps…and he said Maybe. We are not talking about some abstract person you didn’t know…this is your father. To be so flippant about a question like that would make me ashamed of being his sister/brother/relative. First class A-hole. No one cares how wealthy you are…what we do care about is who you will look out for when you are president.

Romney’s plan would raise taxes on the poor, barely give a break to the middle class, and give a huge break to the wealthy.
So, excuse me, if I as a poor person would rather eat nails and drink Clorox bleach than listen to you attempt to identify with me and/or ask me for my vote.

      • January 20, 2012 at 11:18 pm

IMO Willard wants to be president because he is acquisitive. It wouldn’t surprise me at all that he wants to be in a position to control the laws that governs his money, so that he and his peers can fix things for their own benefit. His disregard of the Bain victims’ livelihood while he reined in millions speaks for itself. As I remarked earlier today, Willard thinks primarily of Willard and the very rich. Fortunately he can’t get to the CIC position without our votes, so he’s holding his nose and wading in, and promising whatever he feels will hold us off until he does get in. There is not one glimmer of community service or patriotism leaked from Willard R’s person to date!

I mean did you see the smirk that he gave when King asked him would he follow in his father’s footsteps…and he said Maybe.

He was trying to mimic Noot’s attitude, which got cheers. Romney’s problem is he hasn’t quite learned how to be himself. He’s too busy trying to be what he thinks others want to see.

Yet he has the nerve to talk about the president “leading from behind”. Asshole.

McCain was born in the canal zone, to an active duty military person, on a US Base, therefore, a “citizen”; however, there was a question as to whether or not he was a “natural Born citizen.” In April 2008, the Senate pass a non-binding resolution declaring him eligible for the presidency.

Roemer is playing such a cynical game. Talk about getting politics out of money – that’s his big talking point. However, his real focus is on things like reducing regulations and typical Repub crap like that.

Why is anyone listening to Buddy Roemer?

sounds like he’s been brainwashed by Dylan RATigan.

All these crazy RW idiots given endless air time on left-leaning shows as if there are absolutely no interesting Democrats to talk to. It also sounds like the same guests are on every show week after week, like a constant echo chamber. New blood, fresh faces, different ideas, PLEASE.

      • January 20, 2012 at 11:04 pm

This is a talking point only; they need to drop this, because there is no politician who can win anything if they decide to go down this “money ut of politics” slippery slope. Buddy Romer is becoming Bernie Sanders, although Sanders mean well but he repeats himself over and over and over.

    • January 20, 2012 at 11:00 pm

Buddy Roemer needs to stop playing coy. He’s a Republican and hasn’t dropped the party. Why Buddy? Why?

Speaking of a waste of time, why did Rachel have that Gloria Collins on her show? She did not bring anything to the table except laughing.

When I look at what is on the GOP side running for President, I am so thankful we have President Obama. That we have First Lady Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and Bo. None of those other can compare to our First Family.

Funny you said this anniebella. I was just over on you tube reading comments from a conservative that posted a video of the President signing and he wrote:

“Believe me, I don’t like it any better than you, but it’s true. Style wins out over substance. Our Conservative candidates can’t compete with this kind of charm. I mean, I could, but quite frankly, I have no interest anymore. Winning the White House from Obama would be like winning Pamela Anderson from Tommy Lee. Thanks, but no thanks.”

on that I bid you all a good night 😆

Chips – A friend of mine in Florida just emailed a version of the President’s appearance at the Apollo to me. Her version on YouTube was uploaded by the Associated Press. Thought you’d chuckle hearing that the AP’s version only has about 200K+ hits!

That statement from the conservative just bleeds jealousy and envy. Good! They’ve got nothing, and they know it. So…..they’ll say “We don’t want it now. We’ll wait until 2016 when we can REALLY do something.”….or some such rationalization.
I know intellectually that Republicans are filled with bigotry and hatred, but thought they’d keep it hidden….be a bit subtle about it…..Boy was I wrong on that idea! I truly never thought they’d be as blatant and flagrant as Newt and those people in S.C. They all might as well be wearing white robes with hoods and burning crosses…..I HOPE this behavior wakes up Americans of good will. This kind of behavior and talk has NO place in America. I am ashamed to say it, but I see that the people involved are basically in my age group and racial group. Truly disgusting! I’m thankful for the young people. They can teach us a whole lot. The college students I teach are so different from that group!
