picasso? eat your heart out….

Apologies for this silliness, but I felt an overwhelming need to share……

Does anyone here play Charadium on their iPads/iPhones?

It’s just an online game where you’re given a word that you have to draw, and everyone else has to guess what it is.

So, my word was ‘crook’.

Now, at the best of times I can’t draw, but how do you draw crook?

Shut up, I didn’t think of that.

So I opted for a pic a bit like the one at the top … and cheated just a little by scrawling ‘Romney’ under my, um, art.

Some of the guesses from the ‘players’ just made me – literally – weep:

I won!!!

I’m honestly not making this up.

My most loved online poll, ever.

I can’t. I have been watching both of your clips (original and the Stay Together 2012 version) for over 6 hours. I visit all websites and click on the links, I went to your youtube page and clicked on it there. I added it to facebook and watched it there and then circled back to TOD.

        I just can’t stop and it is 11:24 p.m.

I have no control. It is addictive and I am pretty confident it is your fault. Surely I would normally have the will power. . . . yes, it has to be your fault.

You click on the timeline (where it says, for instance, 7 hours ago), which will open up the tweet in a new screen. Then go to the URL in the search line for that larger version of the tweet, and cut and paste.

    Did you see?

    Romney said:

First of all, the system in my state is not a government-run system. Ninety-eight β€” 92 percent of the people had their own insurance before the system was put in place, and nothing changed for them. They still had the same private insurance. And the 8 percent of the uninsured, they bought private insurance, not government insurance. And the people in the state still favor the plan three to one.

Romney’s right. Massachusetts doesn’t have a “government-run” health insurance system. It has a government-regulated health insurance market in which individuals are compelled to buy their own insurance. That’s exactly what the Affordable Care Act has, too. If Obamacare is socialism, then so is Romneycare. And if Romneycare is the distilled essence of free market capitalism, then Obamacare is, too.

    OPPS! Thanks, Willard!

    • 102 pinkbunny
      January 20, 2012 at 11:59 pm

Apparently you have to do it this way:

“You can’t do it by actually Rt’ing, you have to copy and paste the tweet into YOUR tweet box, put RT at the front and either put your like reply before it or after and then they will see it in their @mentions box thingy ”

At least that’s what I found via google…

Maybe there’s another way of doing it?

    • 104 Betsy
      January 21, 2012 at 12:05 am

Copy and paste the tweet, then add your own words, then send πŸ™‚

    • January 21, 2012 at 12:15 am

well, first: How to Retweet using Retweet button. Think of that as an “automatic” tweet.

OTOH, a “manual” tweet (or, the original way RTs were done before the Retweet button):

in tweet box, type: RT @username & the original tweet (you may have to remove some text to make it fit in 140 characters.

usually, folks will add text before the RT or after the tweet. if it’s after the tweet use a “/” or “|” and put your comment after that.

    • 107 Bobfr (aka Our4thEstate)
      January 21, 2012 at 2:06 am

You may find TweetDeck helpful, for many reasons, including the RT function in TweetDeck gives you the option, automatically, to either RT or to Edit and then RT. The Edit then RT is convenient because it copies the original message for you sets a “RT” header and then you can edit it any way you like.

      Happy weekend …

      • January 21, 2012 at 2:31 am

Once I went on Tweetdeck, my twitter usage went up several hundred percentage points. So much easier, and the retweet ease is great – just click retweet, and you can edit to your heart’s content! I rarely go back to the regular twitter anymore.

VC – my instructions way above were for posting a tweet to TOD. I didn’t read your question properly. Sorry!

      • January 21, 2012 at 9:38 am

Good Morning, and THANK you ALL! πŸ˜† πŸ˜† Now I feel like a favoured little sister, with all my big siblings making sure I’m alright. πŸ˜› I’ll be sure to ‘find’ TweetDeck today and give it a try. Thanks, y’all. πŸ˜†

        • January 21, 2012 at 10:03 am

I’ll add one thing to the above. If you are retweeting but deleting or changing any of the person’s original tweet words you should always type in MT (modified tweet) instead of RT (retweet).

    MUST READ. http://www.thenation.com/blog/165781/what-if-citizens-united-actually-united-citizens

But what if the net result of Citizens United is a realization by progressive groups that financial competition is futile, one that prompts altered strategies that play to progressive strengths? In the two years after the Citizens United decision, we’ve seen a renewed commitment to deep organizing and innovative rapid response that is threatening corporate-backed electeds and industry-promoted legislation alike.

What’s now also coming into focus is that the influx of such huge sums of money has forced smaller groups to re-evaluate their own reliance on a saturated media market to deliver a message, and catalyzed new investment in breakthrough organizing. The popular momentum we saw this week behind such campaigns may well be evidence that instead of disengaging in a post–Citizens United world, voters jump at concrete opportunities to flex their power. While I won’t claim a triumph for people-powered movements quite yet, the last week has been a great indicator that frustration is turning to action in ways that could yet prove game-changing.

    • January 21, 2012 at 12:09 am

Yup. It all boils down to people vs money. In the head count vs money count fight, the former will always win if it keep its head.

      • January 21, 2012 at 12:27 am

The pushback against SOPA / PIPA, the Walker recall, the defeat of the anti-union law in OH. All examples of people overcoming money, in spectacular ways. It won’t be easy this year, but it’s more than doable. And, we have a community organizer at the head of the ticket.

I wonder if people could become immune to the effect of the ads run endlessly. If they could start to get beyond annoyed and even be influenced to vote the opposite way than was intended? If the endless ads just waste the corporations money. Also many people record shows they watch and run through the commercials. I just pray they do not work as intended.
I agree with you in that if getting involved instead happens it could be a good outcome of Citizens United. I do know I have hated the decision from the moment it was made though.

      • 116 cuphalffull
        January 21, 2012 at 4:34 am

I have wondered the same thing. All the groups that send me literature whether women’s issues, seniors issues, minority issues, environmental issues, peace issues are all referring to the influx of obscene amounts of money from corporate interests. The Democratic party, the satirists Colbert and Stewart, are making this as visible as possible. All the online blogs and news centers are full of articles about the monied interests and the effect on our elections of Citizen’s United. I know of specific organizations now that are working full tilt to reverse this terrible situation as their only reason for being and know of people in our locality that have taken up the cause as their number one effort.

      • January 21, 2012 at 7:53 am

I think this is true as well, Obama Grandmama. We prerecord everything we watch and never stop on a commercial–never. On one-time events like the Oscars, we make it a point to leave the room during commercials. Also too many negative commercials can backfire. People do get tired of being hit over the head. The one thing Citizen United did not allow the “moneyed” guys to do was have on the ground troops supporting a candidate. The are not allowed and cannot compete with OFA.

And yet Willard acts like he is big and tough, but he is incredibly thin skinned. Prominent conservative voices continue to say he is the candidate best suited to beat POTUS, but Willard continues to dodge the issue with his taxes to where even Chris Christie says to release them. Willard will be the nominee IF he doesn’t wimp out. All I can say is that this is one of the strangest primary seasons I’ve witnessed… 2008 McCain was much more stable during the primaries, given how the previous summer his campaign was broke and virtually finished.

Newt is not to be dismissed lightly. He would have the ability to be outrageous in a debate with PBO, turn some stupid phrase and grab the next media cycle. That’s what he’s good at. He won’t get elected but his tactics would require the campaign to adjust significantly

    YES! YES! YES! http://www.thenation.com/blog/165779/what-marianne-gingrich-and-al-green-teach-us-about-man-who-could-be-president

So, last night, we learned, or relearned, that Newt Gingrich is seriously one of the most disgusting, cheating, hurtful, wife-hopping people in the world. We also learned something about President Obama that puts him on the other end of the disgusting/adorable spectrum. And that is that he can sing! Which he did, at a fundraiser at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. Perhaps Newt’s unfaithfulness (and the fact that Al Green was at the fundraiser) was what made Obama sing a few (too few) bars from Green’s classic, β€œLet’s Stay Together” and, specifically, the words β€œI’m so in love with you.” I pity the wives of Gingrich, but I envy Michelle Obama. See the video and look out for the president’s Kermit the Frog moves. It should convince the β€œthere’s no difference between a Republican and a Democrat” crowd that, when it comes to Gingrich and Obama, there’s a huge difference, at least on a personal level. And, of course, as we all know, the personal is political.

What exactly will the President’s presence do to further the proof of his birth? Does the judge think the President doesn’t really exist? What is he going to ask him? Were you born? Can you certify that you are, in fact, alive and breathing? This is horrifically embarrassing for the state of justice in this country. What other President has had to appear to testify about a birth certificate that he had no part in creating or certifying? Discrimination at its worst.

Georgia Judge Says Birther Orly Taitz Can Question President, Orders Obama to Appear in Court
    Charles Johnson

Today’s ridiculous news is not finished yet; now a Georgia judge has ordered President Obama to appear in court for a Birther hearing.

ATLANTA – A judge has ordered President Barack Obama to appear in court in Atlanta for a hearing on a complaint that says Obama isn’t a citizen and can’t be president. …

An Obama campaign aide says any attempt to involve the president personally will fail and such complaints around the country have no merit.

The hearing is set for Thursday before an administrative judge. Deputy Chief Judge Michael Malihi on Friday denied a motion by the president’s lawyer to quash a subpoena that requires Obama to show up.

Not mentioned in this AP article β€” the attorney for the plaintiff is the queen bee of the crackpot Birthers, Orly Taitz: Orly Taitz and David Farrar: Hold on for the ride, Birthers at it again – Atlanta 11th Circuit Court.

I dedicate the following to Romeny:

The ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah
The ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah
The ants go marching one by one,
The little one stops to suck his thumb
And they all go marching down to the ground
To get out of the rain, BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Wow, how have the mighty fallen!? In the most recent debate, Gringrich and Santorum rips Romeny a new one. Iowa was actually won my Santorum. PBO sings less than 30 seconds of a soul classic and eclipses the entire clown show. The reality of the matter is that people, not just in this country but around the world, find our President to be fascinating, intelligent, endearing, magnanimous ………..

The Republican field and their debate performances and their base and their vileness are so depressing and dispicable to the vast majority of Americans and the world, that President Obama’s singing even for a few seconds was therapeutic in some way. It was a ” calgon take me away” moment for us all. I was feeling better and relieved when I heard him sing and see how relaxed he was and confident in himself.

Those who are using google chrome browser, this extension allows you to change the background colors of webpages and fonts.

Chips. LOVE the picture!! Just sums up mutt robme perfectly (OOPS sorry I mean Mitt Romney) Either way he is revolting you can’t even compare him and President Obama in the same sentence, Barack would wipe the floor with him in every situation.

Talking of your wonderful president he was on the BBC news at 10 last night singing – it’s gone global!! My friend called me to let me know as she knows I do not watch much TV. He is just awesome. Just when I think I can’t possibly love him any more he goes and proves me wrong again!!!

Can’t wait for SOTU next week, I will be setting my alarm for 1am so early night the night before. Last year it was on my birthday (going by GMT) and it was a great way to start the day.

WASHINGTON/ISLAMABAD Jan 19 (Reuters) – A militant who acted as a senior operations organizer for al Qaeda was targeted and killed in one of two U.S. drone strikes launched against targets inside Pakistan last week, a U.S. official said.

U.S. and Pakistani sources told Reuters that the target of the attack was Aslam Awan, a Pakistani national from Abbottabad, the same town where Osama bin Laden was killed last May by a U.S. commando team. They said he was targeted in a strike by a U.S.-operated drone on January 10 directed at what news reports said was a compound near the town of Miranshah in the border province of North Waziristan.

That strike broke an undeclared eight-week hiatus in attacks by the armed, unmanned drones that patrol Pakistan’s tribal areas and are a key weapon in U.S. President Barack Obama’s counter-terrorism strategy.

South Carolina is almost 30% Black, which is more than twice the national average. Yet can you count how many Black Republicans you see at any of these GOP campaign events? Are the Black Repubs sitting it out this year? Are they going to pull a Condi and secretly vote for Obama while pleading the fifth when asked?

I don’t care what Ms. Rice says. She is a liar. And she is guilty of wrongdoing with Cheney & Co. The cognitive dissonance is too much to bear at this juncture. And it will eat her alive if she doesn’t act to reduce it by secretly voting for the Democrat.

It was linked last night. I can’t figure out why this guy isn’t arrested, advocating for the assassination of the POTUS. And it was stated as part of a possible to do list, casually, as if this was some common sense remedy rather than what it was—-inciting violence and proposing murder of the President of the United States. This country is overrun with nutcases.

actually I see a benefit to this. More people should begin to question why American Presidents are responsible for “forcefully dictating that the United States’ policy includes its helping the Jewish state obliterate its enemies”.

I also see rhetoric like this one provides the opportunity for people in the Jewish community to step forward and push back. Especially when Adler indicated that those ideas were discussed in Israel’s inner circles.

And some did –“While we acknowledge Mr. Adler’s apology, we are flabbergasted that he could ever say such a thing in the first place. How could he even conceive of such a twisted idea?” said Dov Wilker, director of AJC Atlanta. “Mr. Adler surely owes immediate apologies to President Obama, as well as to the State of Israel and his readership, the Atlanta Jewish community.”

“Abraham Foxman, National Director of the Anti-Defamation League, also blasted Adler on Friday, saying “There is absolutely no excuse, no justification, no rationalization for this kind of rhetoric. It doesn’t even belong in fiction. These are irresponsible and extremist words. It is outrageous and beyond the pale. An apology cannot possibly repair the damage. Irresponsible rhetoric metastasizes into more dangerous rhetoric. The ideas expressed in Mr. Adler’s column reflect some of the extremist rhetoric that unfortunately exists — even in some segments of our community”.

Reelecting President Obama is critical in moving this nation and the world forward.

Just saw this comment on HP.

News flash, here in Columbia,sΒc, my voting place the machines aren’t working and they have no paper ballots. So they are making people by hand fill out their own homemade ballot! And this just happens to be a democratic stronghold area. Democrats can vote in republican primary here. How convenientΒ. Yeah those will be counted.

I think we are going to see an unprecedented amount of these kind of shenanigans in the presidential election. Local Dems have to be on the ball, prepared. I keep thinking of all the dirty tricks played in Oh in ’04—–including liberal college students having to stand in line to vote on one machine into the wee hours—–while some christian college down the road had plenty of voting machines. Plus a multitude of other disasters in Cleveland and everywhere there were Dem majorities.

Call OFA about this. There are probably Election Protection lawyers already designated in the state. Call everyone you know–your mayor, city council people, the state election office AND the newspaper. Tell them this kind of sloppy treatment of voters is unacceptable and you’re going to make sure it gets a lot of attention. If we make a big stink about these practices in the primary, they are less likely to pull them in the general. Really don’t let this slide by. OFA needs to be aware of this. There need to be consequences to these shenanigans and we’re in a position to precipitate those consequences. Oh, and be sure to sign up to be a poll watcher in November and get lots of fellow Obama supporters to take shifts with you. If you see stuff like this happening while you are poll watching in November, call the designated lawyer and make a big noise out of it. Here’s another tactic. Before the November election call the office in your city that supervises elections and tell them ahead of time that you hope you won’t be seeing a repeat of the fiasco during the primary and you have lined up help if it happens again. Local officials will try to get away with tricks if they think they are operating under the radar and voters won’t protest. Show them you know what they’re up and WILL protest.

Everybody–before you go to vote, especially in the general, make sure your have a list of who to call if you see something fraudulent or suspect going on at your polling place. Every county will be provided with legal watchdogs and their job is to take it quickly to the judges on call during elections. Take a cell phone and call immediately. Don’t just “accept” a situation that will jeopardize your vote and that of fellow Democrats.

I am not going to say what the inspite of are or will be. All I know right now, at this moment in time it feels good to have a sitting President who sings not even a whole song and I am sill humming and singing the song as if it belongs to me.

It does. We all have a right to feel good as long as our POTUS is. What a job and responsibility he has, especially dealing with those idiots who are running for the highest office in the U.S. the sad part about it all is the people who will vote for them. When are they going to wake up? (reminds me of Teddy P. another panties being thrown to person)……..”Wake Up Everybody”

Only a remnant…….I am so glad that some of us are waking up to the truth.

Here is the best news of the year AMK-

Tweet this to everyone- Peace with Taliban-

(CBS/AP)Β  WASHINGTON β€” The Obama administration is expressing new confidence that talks with the Taliban next week offer the best chance yet to end the 10-year-old war in Afghanistan.
But the intelligence community warns that the Taliban is more interested in continuing fighting than making peace.

To guard against the Taliban using the talks to boost its standing while delivering little in return, the U.S. this week will lay out confidence-building measures β€” or specific steps that the U.S. and the insurgents agree to take ahead of formal talks.

A senior U.S. official said those talks, if they ever take place, would include the United States, the Taliban and the Afghan government of President Hamid Karzai. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to describe sensitive diplomacy.

They need to nail these talks!
