Jacquelineoboomer, great. Happy New Year,2012 to you and your family. What a lovely son!!! My sibling and nieces are on another coast, so I just received my messages as well. I am between music, candles, and a little red wine. I always do my devotions and meditations in afternoon to help bring in the New Year.

A lot to be grateful for within and to ask for grace to so many who are without so much tonight. We will work hard to help POB balance it out for so many who are hurting. We Can Do This, I Do Believe. Love you all so much,HZ

The night is still young here in Arizona. It is only 9:14! I have had some wine, but had pick up my brother from the airport this evening so didn’t have much.

    • December 31, 2011 at 11:18 pm

Wow GGail. it is very early there. You are an hour earlier than Arizona. The night is very young for us and plenty of time to get ino some trouble with our troublemaker in chief HZ.

Now, Now. I heard that. But I also love my new title. “Troublemaker-In-Chief” I am being good tonight. I had to make sure that my typing was proper before that message came through from my loving brother. Then the nieces were checking on the slur in speech. Just teasing on that one. I am only following the doctor’s orders on the red wine. Appointment next week. Trying to be nice.HZ

Happy New Year GGail. I’m on the West coast too, just south of LA, but was not on TOD last night. Had company until about 9:30pm, then my hubby and I talked and watched TV until the ball dropped at midnight, then we went outside to see our neighbor’s fireworks, which were awesome, and then went to bed by 1am.

Fiji is in the South Pacific, north and a little west of New Zealand….. South and East of the Solomon Islands. Much of WWII was fought in the vicinity, I’m told there are lots of wrecked ships to dive there, many marine reefs and ultra beautiful islands to explore.

    • December 31, 2011 at 11:12 pm

There are 15 tropical North Mariana Islands , one of which is Saipan. There is a lot of corruption there. I learned from experience that it is one of the only places that you can send a Fed Ex to a post office box.

    OBAMA QUESTIONS,

If I bought something from the Obama store, is that considered a “Donation” to the campaign? Or does only money give at the “donate” button (or Donna or TOD fundraisers) count as donations?

Not being bias *cough* but I like the Oceania stats in the North & South Pacific region who have been visiting! 😳 Ni sa Bula Vinaka Fiji!! I’m going to be a little random right now… and save the image and use it as my laptop wallpaper LMAO! 😆

TOD Family… Thanks for the love earlier to one of my other posts. Just after midnight last night, my son and I lay in bed with the News on mute showing the display of fireworks coming from Samoa & Australia… and we welcomed the New Year in by reading his President Obama book he loves so much that I mentioned days ago (it has all these cool FYI stuff for Kids in there about POTUS as a child, college years, his mom, dad, grandparents… right through to his inauguration and other bits and pieces… with all these colorful pics… kids would really enjoy this book!).

After we read the book, I asked my son what was one thing he was grateful for as the 2012 New Year began… and he replied… ‘well its a tie between you and President Obama’………… 😆 I didn’t even want to ask him who he would choose out of the 2 if it came down to it 😕 lmaooo in my mind… I have the slight edge on the pick….. but….. only in my mind…. his answer may have differed lol

I remember laying with him when he was young, and he’d tell me that he loved me so much. And I’d ask him if he’d still tell me that when he was a teenager. He’d always say, “Yes, Mom…even when I’m a teenager.” He kept that promise, and I’m so grateful that he did. Cherish this time!

I’ve been trying to find a video set to a song from a gospel singer with a deep, husky voice – I think it was originally from just after the election. Someone posted it here a few weeks ago, and I absolutely loved it. I think the title was something like “I trust in him”, but I can’t for the life of me remember what song and who was the artist. Anyone remember from my vague hints?

Was it Marvin Sapp? I believe the song was “Never Would Have Made It”. The gospel singer is also a pastor in Michigan, he recently lost his beloved wife to cancer. I hope that’s it, Theo. Let me know. The montage was over ten minutes or so. Happy NYE 2012!

      • January 1, 2012 at 1:08 am

That’s it!!!! Thank you – I absolutely loved this video, even though it’s a long one (sad story for him, but the montage of President Obama is so touching). Thank you so much – I never would have remembered that one. Aaaahhhh… 🙂

It goes without saying that most NYCers support President Obama so they don’t need to bring signs to make a political statement when they are celebrating their New Year. It’s a desperate Romney fan who would think of bringing a sign to an apolitical event.

Woo Hoo Happy New Year to the TOD family.

2011 was the year Americans, actually the world, got to see first hand what the GOP has become. Only the extreme fringes want to see these people take control.

2012 is the year the world says, collectively, ‘Hell no you don’t!’ to Teabaggers and Republicans alike.

    We got this!

Buckle up, we may be in for a bumpy ride, but as the president says, ‘I’ve never been more confident that, as a country, we will get there.”

See y’all tomorrow! Very glad it is 2012, very glad indeed! Blessings to all!

I just heard a bunch of pop, pop, pops as I was laying here in bed and flipping between Archer on FX and Jaws # 24567894 on Spike. I almost fell outta the bed I was so startled. I was like :’oh shit! WTF??!! Are those gun shots?! What? How is that possible? There’s more security here than at the airport!’ then I happened to glance at the time on my device and noticed it was after midnight. Yikes! That’s what happens when you stay home watching the Jaws marathon all day. 😮 anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR, TOD!!!! 😆

Happy New Year to everyone here at TOD! It’s not quite 2012 in my neck of the woods (Alabama) but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to keep my eyelids open for another 32 more minutes. If not, let me just say a few things: First, congratutions Chipsticks on those amazing stats. You are unbelievable girl! Second, let me add that I’m so glad I was able to find a little extra cash today to donate to both Chips and DonnaDem4Obama’s fundraising pages to help push them over the top — at least until they raise their goals again. 🙂 Finally, I consider the people here at TOD to be my second family (all of you around the world). May each of you have a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year as we continue to work to hard to make 4 more to 44 a reality. Obama/Biden 2012!

A new year joke stolen from BJ.

Ole’s car was hit by a truck in an accident. In court, the trucking company’s lawyer was questioning Ole.

‘Didn’t you say, sir, at the scene of the accident, ‘I’m fine, ?’ asked the lawyer.

Ole responded, ‘Vell, I’ll tell you vat happened. I had yust loaded my favorite mule, Bessie, into da…..’

‘I didn’t ask for any details’, the lawyer interrupted. ‘Just answer the question. Did you not say, at the scene of the accident, ‘I’m fine’?

Ole said, ‘Vell, I had yust got Bessie into da trailer and I vas driving down da road… ..

The lawyer interrupted again and said, ‘Judge, I am trying to establish the fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the Highway Patrolman on the scene that he was just fine. Now several weeks after the accident he is trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer the question.’

By this time, the Judge was fairly interested in Ole’s answer and said to the lawyer, ‘I’d like to hear what he has to say about his favorite mule, Bessie’.

Ole thanked the Judge and proceeded. ‘Vell, as I vas saying, I had yust loaded Bessie, my favorite mule, into da trailer and vas driving her down da highvay ven dis huge semi-truck and trailer ran da stop sign and smacked my truck right in da side. I vas trown into one ditch and Bessie vas trown into da other. I vas hurting real bad and didn’t vant to move. However, I could hear Bessie moaning and groaning. I knew she was in terrible shape yust by her groans’. ‘Shortly after da accident da Highway Patrolman, he came to da scene.. He could hear Bessie moaning and groaning so he vent over to her’..

‘After he looked at her and saw her fatal condition he took out his gun and shot her right ‘tween da eyes.

Den da Patrolman, he came across da road, gun still smoking, looked at me and said, ‘How are you feeling?’

‘Now vut da hell vould YOU say?

        • January 1, 2012 at 1:52 am

Just woke up from hearing all the fire crackers going off and decided to check back in at TOD’s place one last time tonite. You’re right Anniebella, Robin Thicke is Alan Thicke’s son.

After discovering that hot video a week ago, it took me awhile to get used to the idea that someone who sings so soulful could be the son of the TV dad from Growning Pains. lol. But hey as DD4O said, “Lord Have Mercy.” 🙂 Also, I’m a little too old to be looking at these young folks video music, but I discovered another new and upcoming R&B sensation while watching Thicke’s “Love After War.” It’s a young guy named Luke James who takes you back to the days of Marvin Gaye. If “Love After War” helps wake you up for the New Year, then this one will definitely make you want to go to bed. 😉 It’s called “I Want You.”

(I hope this video posts here)

HP commenters are freaking out right now after Arianna decided to change the headline on the front page from “Obama signs NDAA and issues signing statement” to “OBAMA SIGNS BILL ALLOWING FOR INDEFINITE DETENTION OF AMERICANS” It’s hilarious how few people actually read articles or bills and just read headlines.

    My opinion on NDAA:

On the indefinite detention provision itself:

It’s truly atrocious and a disgrace to the Constitution. Whether or not it applies to Americans, the fact that it’s even being talked about is bad enough. The language leaves WAY too much wiggle room for a future far-right administration to do something like round up Americans and put them away indefinitely with no trial. It’s encouraging the Obama administration will not use this provision, but it doesn’t change the law itself. The Obama administration and, more importantly, the American people need to make sure that this provision is not in the 2013 NDAA by pressuring Congress (both parties are equally to blame, so tell your socialist cousin and your Tea Party uncle to call and write nonstop).

    On President Obama signing it:

He really had no choice here. Had Obama not signed it, our troops would not be paid or properly protected for the beginning of the year. This is the defense budget for the entire year. Had he done that, he would be absolutely pounded by the right for “not wanting to pay our troops”, and would leave the door wide open for a GOP White House in 2012, meaning a conservative Supreme Court that would uphold that provision in case they wanted to use it (It has way more than enough support to override a veto).

It was smart to sign it and issue a signing statement. He’s a long-term thinker, and this gives us at least a year to try to get this provision out and prevent a wingnut from using/abusing it.

    Anyways, Happy New Year!

“Our goal was by the end of this year to be ready for whenever it ended,” he said. “We’re ready now.” Messina said

Nor will Messina talk about the technological bells and whistles that have been undergoing testing in a few states and will soon be rolled out across the country. What he will say is: “We’ve always believed that 2011 was about building the strongest grass-roots campaign in modern history, and we’re on track to do that. . . . I believe we’re going to be better, faster and more focused on the ground.”
