Honestly, I haven’t made this up – a Ron Paul-supporting freak actually thought it was good news that the former KKK guy endorsed the nutjob!

Jonathan Bernstein: I have to say: If I were running Mitt Romney’s campaign, I’d much prefer reporters going on today about a mini-flap involving one of Mitt’s sons going birther and then apologizing than have them reporting on the Santorum surge.
….in the long run (or perhaps even by Tuesday) this particular incident will be long forgotten, it still can’t hurt Romney with Tea Partiers to hint that his camp is on the same page with them culturally.
Of course, I’m not hinting, nor am I voicing any suspicion, that the Romney camp would actually do something like this on purpose.

Reuters: New U.S. claims for jobless benefits rose last week but the underlying trend pointed to an improving labor market, while regional factory data showed the economy gaining momentum as the year ended.
The growth picture was brightened by other data on Thursday showing pending sales of previously owned homes jumped to a 1-1/2 year high in November, adding to signs of a tentative recovery in the housing market.
Indications the economy was wrapping up the year on a much firmer footing than had been previously anticipated leaves it better positioned to deal with headwinds from the festering debt crisis in Europe and fiscal tightening at home.

Friend,
This holiday has felt a bit like one last long, deep breath before we plunge into 2012.
This time next year, I don’t want us to have any regrets. I want to be able to say we rose to the task, and got it done. We’ve all got some work to do right now.
Over the next 11 months we’ve got an organization to grow, voters to register, and people to get fired up.
I hope you’ll close out this year by donating $3 or more now to help make sure we’re ready for the next one.
Thank you so much, and happy new year,
Michelle
P.S. Also, when you donate today, you are automatically entered for a chance to be one of three supporters to have dinner with Barack and me.

If you have a few dollars to spare you can donate here:
or
through Donna Dem’s fundraising page at OFA:
or through The Obama Diary’s OFA page:
Whichever you choose, the money goes to the same place: Obama/Biden 2012. Thanks everyone.

Soooooooooo Presidential:
First!
Congratulations PFWHI
Could you share your story with us about when you were an intern at the WH, I am a bit curious…
Wooooooooooooooooooot!
Michelle Branch? Really? Another minor pop “star”.
I am loving all these Ron Paul endorsements.
The more we can splinter the votes the better. If Paul starts to win delegates then his policies will come under more scrutiny and Moderate Republicans and Independents will once again say “what nuts the Republicans are running these days.”. It will also show the celebrities up for the uninformed folks they are.
I have no clue who Branch is. Supporters of Ron Paul need their heads examined.
On a more serious note I watch CNN KC said she was unaware of the news letter Ron Paul had her twitter followers were pissed. I don’t know if she is pulling her endorsement I can’t believe she is serious about that guy. I mean if your a republican fine no problem, but Ron Paul are you serious.
Ron Paul is a racists and anyone who support him, well they must be one too.
Good Afternoon, Everyone 🙂
Chips, the pics in the last thread were fabulous 🙂
I just learned from one of my bosses this his wife attended OFA traning last week. It seems like people are getting ready to get involved and love it. POTUS will need the support and then some since these @$$holes will try everything they can to steal the election.
$10,000 says the Romney campaign feints outrage at President Obama “attacking” one of his kids and the MSM runs with it.
obama campaign has never targeted rival’s kids, so you’ll lose. Of course, they can always make shite up.
If a grown child acts as a campaign spokesman and makes himself political, some pushback from a similar level in the president’s campaign (never the president himself) would be fair. This wouldn’t be like criticizing an underage child or a non-involved adult. If Romney’s grown sons are going to act like mini Karl Rove’s, they’re can’t expect to get off scot free. Messina mentioned the son’s arrogant pronouncement in his fundraising e-mail appeal and I thought it sounded perfectly appropriate.
I agree, Jackie. When Chelsea Clinton was campaigning for her mother, even the campaign acknowledged that as long as she was a spokesperson, she was not above being called out. No one ever attacked her, but she was fair game. It isn’t like someone attacking a child or a spouse.
That “kid” is 40 years old. He should know better.
Exactly…the “kid” is almost in the same generation as our President!!!
NO ONE IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS REALLY CHALLENGED ROMNEY OR HIS SO CALLED RECORD…EVERYONE HAS BEEN TIPPING AROUND MITT…INCLUDING THE MEDIA…BUT THIS PRESIDENT IS GOING TO TEAR A NEW WHOLE INTO THAT A#$…AND I CANT WAIT….HE’S GONNA SHOW AMERICA JUST HOW PHONEY AND SELF SERVING WILLARD IS…AND I CANT WAIT FOR IT TO BEGIN!!!!!
That Flip Flopper liar’s son is not a kid, he’s a grown man. A kid is under 18.
He is a fucking old man . so he should man up and take responsability if he says something stupid
like his flip flap father my young kids know if thet screw up they own their shit.
Romney’s son who is Forty years is still considered a kid? I suppose that’s is o.k. because Romney is a Republican.
A kid is Sasha Obama. Mitt Romney’s son is a grown rusty man. Maybe thanks to Mitt raising him he still act like a spoil rich brat, but that guy is not a kid.
Thank you Chips for putting the donations on the front page of the Thread. I gave this morning and will give to you and Donna later today. We need 2011 go out with a bang for donations to re-elect Obama/Biden 2012!
Hmmmm, I ordered 2 of the calendars yesterday. I will donate again so that I can get another one free. 🙂
So…. amidst holiday baking, knitting and crocheting, and lots of napping, I have been organizing.
I have started to organize stories based on the states they affect.
I now have a web page where stories for each state display.
Some of these stories are very specific to a state (like the Capewind project in Mass. )
Others are more general (States & Tribes Clean Up Abandoned Coal Mines with $485 Million in Grants) in which about 15 states were affected
While other stories apply to every state in the country (600,000 Homes Weatherized Ahead of Schedule)
As the primaries roll by I am trying to make sure that the stories for that particular state have lots of stories, I am also giving priority to the swing states. Iowa happens to be a swing state and the first primary so I just finished that page.
To access your state go here
http://www.whatisworking.com/2011/12/success-stories-by-state.html
If the list looks skimpy, my apologies, as the primaries roll around it will improve.
To check out Iowa visit here

WIW, perhaps as they become known, we can add the newest voter suppression laws to the individual states. That way we oculd build a handy state by state guide to help us when we register voters. PA’s are still in flux and other state suppression laws are being challenged, but when the dust settles we need to know what we’re dealing with so we can form a battle plan.
Hi Jackie – that is a great idea – I will work on it over the next few days. Isn’t there a website that lists the rules for each state? Anyone know the URL?
I’ve never heard of such a website and many of the rules will be outdated with new laws. If we could make our own place, then we could share ideas about how to combat the suppression.
OFA website has a tool for registration requirements in each state.
Hi WIW,
My personal favorite was the take your child to work day event we had with the First Lady. That was awesome seeing her interact with the children was so inspiring, you can tell she really enjoys working with young people. Her hands are so soft and man is she tall I wore heels the day we met and she still towered over me. LOL!
Thanks for sharing, we just love the “inside scoop”.
Where is Santorum votes coming from? If they’re coming from Paul that basically guarantees Mitt wins Iowa. And if Mitt wins Iowa, he locks up the nomination by February 1st. So hopefully he’s only sinking Bachmann/Perry/Newt. Regardless, Santorum has no shot at beating Mitt, so any surge he’s having is helpful to Mitt – so I really disagree with Jonathan Bernstein on this one. Perry/Newt are the only candidates who could beat Romney in the general if they are the last not-Romney standing. Folks seem unwilling to give Perry a second look though, first impressions and the terrible debates killed him. Newt faced heavy attacks and is still polling 15% range – if he gets enough money to fire back at Romney he could still make it a race once they get to S.Carolina and other southern states if Perry is out/non entity.
The votes come from all the surges: it’s a fluid group of 97% white, old evangelicals who have flitted from Bachmann to Cain to Newt and now Santorum.
My prediction that means absolutely nothing is that Perry might do better than expected, enough to give MSM something to talk about rather than Mitt’s lies.
Will Mitt win IA? Probably. Because Republicans get it as to how to build their coalitions over the long haul: hating the other guy is a potent reason they vote, so they don’t care if Romney is less than their dream candidate — they want a Republican president. Something progressives never get. Instead of whining because of Obama alleged flaws, stopping Republicans should be meat enough for them.
Idiots.
I agree with you. And we cannot expect any help from the MSM. I watched Ezra Kelin and basically it was doom and gloom for the President who had an awful year except for December. Did I miss something? I thought the President came into office in January 2009. Now it seems we’re suppose to forget all the accomplishments in 2009 and 2010 and just look at 2011. In fact I think I tweet Ezra and ask him what the hell is his problems.
Good God!! and lookit all those young multiracial faces in the crowd!!!
What “faces” ? I count about a dozen.
Compare to PBO thousensds and long lines waiting to hear hi and watch him. when PBO speaks
everybody chants yes we can and 4 more years soooo sweet.
Many of Willard’s supporters will be dead by election day.
LOL.
😯
😆 😆 😆 😆 😆
LOL.
That photographer is soooo fired/blackballed. Hahaha!
Why does Mitt need someone to hold his damn chair???
Did willard campaign push that racist idiot of a son front and center or was the kid just shooting his mouth ?
Here’s the video amk:
Jeebus, the fucker is pushing all his kids front and center and allowing them to take questions ? What a pos.
I’d bet most of those people in that room need walkers to help them get around.
Claims he was repeating a joke. Yuk, yuk, yuk. He and his father must think we’re real stupid. I am not convinced that this was some oops moment here. They knew the stir it would cause and Romney has been trying to paint Pres.Obama as not one of us since he started campaigning.
I agree. I think they knew exactly what they were doing. I think they are hoping they can get some teabag votes and this was a subtle way to do it.
Just thought I’d share – my fave spam message of the day came from “GDH Hair Straightener Purple”.
Needless to say I replied – and this is how I now look:
Gorgeous, yes?
LOL You look maaaahvalous!!!!
Thank you Debz, thank you.
This was my first attempt:
Then I read the instructions.

To follow up on the post above, I could use the help of the “state teams” in spreading these stories.
A few months ago we made up a list of TOD members listed by state. Unfortunately Iowa is currently empty. If you are living in Iowa please post here or at the WIW blog page of TOD members.
http://www.whatisworking.com/2011/10/tod-participants-found-in-states.html
Even if you don’t live in Iowa, I encourage you to join a “state team”. Remember at the end of the day “all politics is local”. Post your name, state, and email or twitter name here and I will add it to the list.
WIW. I already signed up for Pennsylvania. I was trying to add my twitter name and Philadelphia, to be more specific. The site ate my comments. Can you add it for me? Thanks.
isonprize Twitter: @isonprize Philadelphia.
Fired up and ready to go!!
Thanks Isonprize, I have updated the page. thanks
I am so fired up. I am cleaning my house thoroughly, getting all my projects out of the way, getting my car tuned up, dentist appointment, ENT appointment, dog and cat checkups done, and then I am all in for the 2012 campaign. We have a chance here in Arizona to turn blue and I will work my ass off to make that happen. I hope those here that live in Arizona can find a way for us to meet in person. I am so very excited. They have put many more grassroots people here than in the last campaign. What we need is to get buses full of people to go to the reservations and the AA communities and the Hispanic neighborhoods and get these people registered. I hope we can get moving on this so that come summer, we don’t have to be canvassing in the heat like we did last time.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
I think AZ would have turned blue in ’08 if ole grumpy pants wasn’t running. Hope you do it this time!!!!

Can desertflower and aquagranny tweet Jackie with your email or contact info. If anyone else is in Arizona and wants to join the team, post below.
I’m not a Tweeter. Trump Dog is in AZ as well, WiW….he didn’t sign up? We need to snag him when he comes back here 🙂
Hi desertflower! I’m a she, lol 🙂
Yes, I’m in AZ too (Phoenix)
Twitter is @TrumpDog1
Hey, Jackie 🙂 You know I’m here! A way to meet in person would be wonderful…don’t exactly know how to do that…..email? I tried to get Trump Dog and Aquagranny to get together…Trump was cool with it…AG, I don’t remember if she responded…but know this, she will work her bottom off for PBO. That is for certain!
Hi WIW..I tried logging on with my WordPress username and it would not work, I don’t have twitter either can you add me to California?
JoJothecat – Pasadena, CA
There are a couple of other Arizonans on the Barack Obama sight, and one has posted here a few times. AZGrammy lives in Tucson and then there is Arizona Grandma that lives in Tempe. Also, does anyone remember Desert Dan? He is also here. We will definitely need to hook up. I will start volunteering for OFA and the AZ Democratic Party in the next week or so. Perhaps I can get some ideas there on how we can get together. There is no doubt that we all work hard for our President everyday, whether it is just sharing links, tweeting, fundraising or even just staying informed. I love you all.

I think he’d have been a lot safer on a table.
LMFAOOOOOO @ that last Awkward-Willard-on-Chair pic! *throws up hands at the absurdity of it all* 😆 😆 😆 😆
Sheesh! Wrong reply spot. I meant “I think he’d have been a lot safer on a table.” after PoliticalJunkessa’s comment. Sorry.
This Iowa REPUBLICAN primary is absolutely the biggest mess, and most embarrassing show I have ever seen! How can these people even hold their heads up in public! The world is looking, and not liking. Other states are looking, and not liking either. The only positive I can say is that this has shown up the Republicans for what they actually are. They have pulled the wool over the public’s eyes for a long time….and I think the mask has been pulled off. It’s painful for true believers, and this will take a while to get through the thick heads, but I remain hopeful and optimistic, that minds will slowly wake up.
Top 10 Greatest GOP Moments of 2011
What a collection of sorry assed dumfucks.
amk for obama, how do you “really” feel. 🙂
SMDH. Idiots, the whole lot. Uncle Herm was the most entertaining of the bunch by far — a flameout for the ages.
First Hillary cried in NH, now Gingrich tested up in Iowa. Both caught on tape.
Uh huh, uh huh!
Chips, since that RP person Retweeted your Tweet about David Duke…the Grand Wizard of the KKK supporting RP…I wonder if they just got confused and thought you were talking about some Harry Potter character! Yeah, spread THAT around with pride! What a jerk.
Jovie, HP is reporting that Steve King (R-Iowa) “may endorse”.
I thought he loved Bachmann…..nice of him to finally get around to it…it’s 3 days away!
Oh. Maybe not.
Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann drew a miniscule crowd to a planned campaign event this afternoon in the northwest Iowa town of Early.
Although one woman said she drove from Des Moines to see the Minnesota congresswoman, most of the dozen or so people in attendance were employees of the Crossroads Restaurant and Lounge or diners who simply dropped by for lunch.
Bachmann’s staff said the event was hastily arranged after a planned pheasant hunt with Iowa Congressman Steve King fell through, preventing them from doing the phone calls and advertising that turns out crowds.
“Although one woman said she drove from Des Moines to see the Minnesota congresswoman, most of the dozen or so people in attendance were employees of the Crossroads Restaurant and Lounge or diners who simply dropped by for lunch.”
Y’all are killing me this afternoon…I just sprayed by keyboard with my green tea. 🙂 😉 🙂
Sorry the hunt fell through. Photos of her hunting would have been funnier than John Kerry hunting with the price tags still on his clothes.
She like her AK???? did you see that one? She BLOWS UP her dinner!
Except, desertflower, hunting game birds requires a shot gun. I think there are laws requiring shot guns, in fact. Info given me by my husband (who actually did hunt pheasants in the dim past). She’d need scattered shot to hit a bird in flight. She’d have to be an excellent shot indeed to hit a bird in flight with a single bullet — unless the bird was the size of a dirigible, I suppose.
http://videocafe.crooksandliars.com/david/bachmann-i-love-my-ar-15-assault-rifle Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think this is a shotgun.
Pheasant hunt? Are you kidding me? She’s out killing beautiful birds so she can what? ..eat them under glass?… enjoy destroying lives of innocent creatures? …or, show how macho she is like Sarah Palin killing a poor moose? Pathetic.
We have a beautiful family of pheasants here who like to forage in our dead flower beds for bugs and seeds. I feel very protective of them and would certainly not welcome half-brained “hunters” on our property to attempt killing them. The woman was babbling.
I have always suspected he loved her….wink wink.
May endorse Fred Flintstone!
I’d guess Santorum, given the rumored surge – King will want to look like his backing was part of the reason for the surge. Will be Newt, Santorum or Perry and all could use any boost in the papers in the days ahead to separate them from the other Not-Romneys and finish a strong 3rd place.
BAM!
Obama Campaign Fundraises Off Matt Romney’s Birther Challenge
On Friday in New Hampshire, Mitt Romney’s son, Matt Romney, suggested that his father would release his tax returns when President Obama released his birth certificate and college grades. Romney has since backed off his remarks, but the Obama campaign is swooping in to rile up donors with his birther lapse.
“This is how the Romney campaign thinks it’s going to win the Republican primary: by pandering to the dead-ender fringe of extremists who still question where the President was born,” Obama campaign manager Jim Messina wrote in an e-mail appeal to supporters. “We can’t make them rewrite their talking points. But we can drive up the cost of this kind of politics. There can be no looking the other way — when they do this, you’ve got to do something about it.”
Every single State has a State OFA twitter page.
So, if you need to tweet something to your state team, there you go?
Memorable quotes from C&L:
“Not meant to be a factual statement.” – Jon Kyl’s April press release responding to questions about his claim on the Senate floor that 90 percent of Planned Parenthood’s activities are abortion
“I put an asterisk on my support… One position that I’m concerned about shifting the cost burden to senior citizens. Seniors are saying, look, I’m not in a positon to be able to handle that. I also share that real fear, that’s why I put that asterisk out there.” — Michele Bachmann on her vote for the Ryan Medicare Budget.
“So let me say on the record, any ad which quotes what I said on Sunday is a falsehood.” – Newt Gingrich flip-flopping on Ryan Budget
“Corporations are people, my friend.” Mitt Romney at the Iowa State Fair
“Oops.” – Rick Perry not able to remember the third cabinet department he would eliminate at a GOP debate
“And when they ask me who is the president of Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan I’m going to say, you know, I don’t know. Do you know?” – Herman Cain
“Every barrel of oil that comes out of those sands in Canada is a barrel of oil we don’t have to buy from a foreign source.” – Rick Perry
I am not very comforted by the fact that I am more intelligent and politically astute than the entire GOP line up for President of the United States.
Frightening, isn’t it??
Gobrooklyn, you were more intelligent and politically astute than this crowd when you were in third grade. I have never seen a bigger bunch of losers, one crazier than the next, no matter which end you start at.
But I thought we were now living in a post racial society. What happened to that, huh? Should i get the shackles out of the closet? Deny my self respect? Return to the back of the bus maybe? What do you people want? A return to slavery?
It ain’t gonna happen. This country is too close to marshal law for me.
Ron Paul, who wants to go back to the original constitution would happily call you 3/5 of a person. These people are totally insane. To think the whole future of our country is on the line in this election.
Donna Brazile put it nicely back in 2008.
Beautiful.
Say so! and let the church say, Amen.
Thank you ison. i had forgotten this. I cried when I first saw it. I think it may have to be resurrected.
Wow, I LOVE this! Thank you so much for posting that isonprize!
Verizon backed off that ridiculous $2.00 fee for basically paying your bills and already someone is crediting Occupy Wall St. – Sigh.
Sigh…is right…..OWS seemed great in the beginning…..Now…not so much.
I think less about OWS and more about customers pushing back and saying hell no.
OW Who?
On a separate note, I do like the pushback on Verizon and the earlier pushbacks on Bank of America and others that worked nicely. Finally, customers are “mad as hell and aren’t going to take it any longer”!
PLUS the FCC was going to investigate.
Look like OWS wasn’t the cause of the backing off…but the outcry on the internet!

OMG that pic of that fool on that chair and that other fool on the ground holding him up is priceless.
Romney and is people during this campaign are going to make late night tv must see tv. It will be hilarious!!
It should have been one of his sons holding the chair … you know … the ones who didn’t join the military because their patriotic duty was getting him elected, according to Daddy. If you weren’t already 100% proud of your sons, Donna, that should do it.
If you’re making campaign stops, how hard is it to have a portable platform in your campaign car? With all of his millions, how come he hasn’t got one decent set-up person? Somebody remembered the mic and the cameras, but not a decent place to stand? This is junior league.
Or why not just stand on a table. Or, since there seemed to only be about 12-15 people there. Just holler “gather ’round” and talk to ’em. 😆 😆
We should just call him “THE FOOL ON THE STOOL”! I like it!
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!! That is perfect.

Ouch !
Almost never go to HuffPo, but glad I didn’t resist this time. They are really “mean” ads. There goes Reagan’s 11th commandment – ha ha ha.
I only posted those because they are just jpg’s and would not take anyone to the site.
teehee ( I know the drill )
So, in front of 100 people- Chris Christie said- if you don’t vote on Tuesday for Mitt Romney, I will be back, Jersey style.
So, now he is a Terminator?
He will bring “The Situation” and “Snooki” with him.
Lol!
More like Tony Soprano. Of course the GOP and MSM made issue of “It’s the Chicago Way” remark when Pres. Obama made it.
The biased media is obvious. And conservatives have the nerve to say that the media favors the President.
You see, that is what they are fed at the fox news fair and balanced channel.
Christie’s mafioso style does not translate well outside of a very small area of NJ. If I were Romney I would not want this repulsive guy campaigning with me. Hope he turns off a lot of Iowans.
That photo of Romney and his chair holder says it all.
P.S. Did he steal PBO’s checked shirt when he was following him around? Tee Hee
Forgot where I read so I don’t have the link but I recall seeing an article/post saying the GOP candidate should try to copy PBO instead of attacking him or something like that but definitely suggested copying PBO.
But Mittens is doing both, copying and attacking. Classy guy that liar.
When will these Bozo’s ever learn that you can’t out-Obama, President Obama. Nobody wants the cheap knock off, they want the real deal.
I’m not sure where you read this either, but Frank Luntz did put out to Repubs to stop attacking him because it was making people feel sorry for him.
Ceb, I do not know whether he stole POB’s checed shirt, but Willard will NEVER wear with the grace and compassionate decency as does POB.
Willard is trying to be so like POB, and Willard ,IMO is so trying to look like POB. It will NEVER happen, Mr. Willard Romney. Stop trying because you are really making me sick looking at you with you stiff behind.HZ
Breaking news- Jovie endorses President Obama!
Best endorsement Evah!
My two dogs, their dad and I endorsed President Obama back in the day and still making donations for his reelection! We got a VA raise and it went to PBHO’s fund raiser, AMEN!!!
Right! Do you know anybody else who has endorsed the President?
According to msnbc, everybody hates him. Lol!
Yes Jovie, My two-legged-child, my child’s husband, my brother and his wife plus a shit load of my friends have endorsed PBO!
That’s funny!
Waves hand! I got an endorsement in the mail today, the 2nd late xmas card from a college friend this week with an Obama endorsement. Her written message was ALL ABOUT Obama. I had great college friends—–tardy, but smart. And fun and funny! All Obama people from the U. of Iowa.
JoJothecat’s cat moonie endorses Preident Obama..but not Bo the dog.
Just read over at HuffyFluffy that Olbertoons is possibly facing hostility at CURRENT TV!
Why? What he do or say now? These libertarians are-wacked, yet are inbeded in our msm!
He’s absent from IOWA caucus coverage.
He didn’t cover the debates either did he ? Maybe he just doesn’t want to .
Because he is part of OWS?
Well well well, what do you know? Keith Olbermann have face hostility every where he has work.
According to CNN, Kelly clarkson cd sales ate throughout the roof, since announcing she endorsed Ron Paul.
You mean to tell me, that everybody went and bought her new cd, after she endorsed that racist?
According to CNN?
I’ve been a Kelly fan since she won American Idol, and I could care less for her political views. Kid Rock is a Repub and I listen to some of his music, although I’ll admit that it didn’t do Young Jeezy/Jay-Z justice to yell racial slurs in a nightclub the night before Obama’s inaguration. These artists should stick to making music and leave their political views out the door.
I never was a Kelly Clarkson fan. I didn’t think she was that good on American Idol or after she left the show. As I said anyone who support Ron Paul is a racists just like he is. All we are seeing are people true color come to light. I can see David Duke and Kelly Clarkson at a Paul rally singing.
I disagree, it’s just Kelly exercising her political navietette. I’ve seen Kelly in interviews and she’s humble and sweet and not a racist at all.
That’s what is so great about this place we can agree to disagree. But I could never support someone with the racists views of Ron Paul. Some one need to tell Kelly to read some of those newsletters, and come back with what she think of Ron Paul.
CNN should be ashamed to report to advertise America’s racism…by reporting this.
Hey, Ron Paulites are usually trust fund babies, so yep that money bought some new CD’s.
So, the Don Cheadle nonsense from yesterday has resulted in a full page twitter from him, explaining to everyone that he supports President Obama and trying to elucidate what “gangster” really means. Someone put him in his place, anyway. Thanks for all those who fought valiantly yesterday and are still fighting the good fight today. Not sure if my cut & paste will work from twitter.
It worked! 🙂
Nice post! I have no doubt his words were taken out of context to some degree but nonetheless it’s good to see him squirm and try to defend his whining. Looks like he received a little education in the past 24 hours!
Sometimes things aren’t always what they appear to be…at first glance. Here’s Don Cheadle’s full response:
In a Jet article that is coming out soon (is it already out? I’ve only seen excerpts on line) I was “quoted” (quote marks definitely intended) as saying I wished that our president had been more gangster in office. This apparently incendiary word set off rumbles with certain people who conflated my use of the word gangster with stereotypical depictions of black men in society today (even though I also tweeted that in my opinion Mandela and Clinton as well as a mother and father who raised their child in a hostile environment and grew a fully realized, free thinking human being would also be considered gangster. Oh well…).
I realize that when speaking to reporters who are looking for the juiciest comments to print, a word like gangster in connection with a black president uttered by a black celebrity can almost be too much to resist. I also realize that when you do an interview you are likely to at least have your comments reduced and constructed to fit into a required space and never do you have say over the final edit. I say this not in defense but to offer some perspective.
When I was called by then Senator Obama to stump for him in 2008, I was honored and eager to do so. I took my two daughters with me to college campuses and rallied the troops for voter drives. Every opportunity I had to speak in public about my support for him, I did and still do. He is the clear choice in my opinion for 2012 and I will again support his re-election but those facts don’t mitigate what I earlier expressed about gangster, they coexist side by side.
I believe I used the word gangster and I meant it. But I wasn’t talking about pants sagging and forties and “hoes” or any of that other nonsense and I find it hard to believe that that is what some people thought I was saying. I was talking about wish fulfillment; my own and my desire to witness something more than I had. Many of my friends and family are scratching it out somewhere decidedly south of the ever widening gap between the haves and have nots, looking at losing their homes, colleges they can’t afford and healthcare they can’t avail themselves of. They’re the ones I’m thinking of when I say gangster.
Coming out of eight years of a president who I believe in many ways took us as dangerously close to the brink of destruction as any before him, I was hoping for a seismic shift in the other direction. I don’t think we’ve had that. Many of my friends and family are scratching it out somewhere decidedly south of the ever widening gap between the haves and have nots, looking at losing their homes, colleges they can’t afford and healthcare they can’t avail themselves of. They’re the ones I’m thinking of when I say gangster.
I understand the constraints of the president when dealing with a congress apparently dead set against working with him and I know how a bill becomes a law (I used to watch Schoolhouse Rock too). President Obama inherited a broken country mired in two wars, a financial crisis, a mortgage mess and more than we all probably even know about and has in my opinion brought us back from the brink. But I still see my friends in no better shape and the gap widening.
I am not a policy maker and have no desire to be one. I am not running for office and would never be elected were I to. I have no designs on becoming a lobbyist. I am a father, a “husband”, an actor and a citizen of this country and planet who flippantly expressed on a press tour, a desire to see our president riding roughshod over his adversaries to get the job done for the least represented amongst us.
I still want that. I still want that with full knowledge that it might be an uphill fight that ultimately proves impossible given the hostile impasse our president faces. I still have a fevered dream of the POTUS smacking up John Boehner in a public forum in middle America and making him defend support of tax cuts for the super rich. I want to see somebody go to jail over the financial crisis and not just black, brown and poor whites over humbles and minor drug beefs. I want the president to bail out homeowners who fell for the okey doke from predatory lenders and are two seconds from living on the streets or are already there. I want to see industrial polluters who are killing all of us slowly by poisoning our fragile environment swap places with the kid doing 15 years in Chino for shoplifting shoes. I want him to stand in front of the haters and go all Bill Duke on them and say, “You know you done fucked up now, don’t you?”
I kinda want a gangster president. I was about to write that in the future I would chose my words more carefully but I’m sure I won’t. Besides, I think the debate is more enriching. I appreciate all the articles I was directed to and will try to find time to read them although I don’t need any more proof to support President Obama. I’m glad he’s at the wheel and not me – I woulda swung at somebody by now. I wish you all peace in the New Year and let’s keep on keeping on.

My apologies for duplications in the post…the words started running together and I lost track of what had been copied and pasted.
Don Cheadle is not the enemy. The Bachmann woman said the same thing a few months back with barely a ruffle.
WOW…he really felt the heat. Reminds me of Clarkson who is now claiming that she didn’t know that Paul had written those racist newsletters. Hmmmm…..
Kelly needs to focus on singing and not politics.
This is America, people can support who ever they want, but you better find out who and what the person you are supporting truly stands for. Don’t hear one or two little things which excites you, then only to find out later that there maybe something you will not like about this person. Ron Paul did not answer the question how his name was on those newsletters, or who wrote the newsletters if not him.
So, Kelly Clarkson endorsed Ron Paul based on — What? Ending war and legalizing pot? She has no excuse for not knowing about the newsletters as they were the main topic of political news for the past two weeks. I swear, the lack of thought in many of our celebrities is astonishing. Unfortunately it’s reflected much too often in the general public.
That’s the problem, some of these young people follow Ron Paul without knowing much about him. He says a few things they like and they jump on board his campaign without doing much background work. In 2007 I barely knew anything about Barack Obama, I had forgotten about his speech in 2004. I was either going to vote for Joe Biden, John Edwards, or Hillary Clinton if she became the nominee. A friend asked why I was not voting for Obama in the primary and I said I had not heard much about him. After he won Iowa, I took a look at his background, went to this website, started doing research on him and paying attention to what he was saying. I still was not sure until he keep winning and I kept learning more and more about him. At the last minute since CA changed their primary date from June to Februrary, I cast my vote for Barack Obame. These young people are so used to instant gratification and getting everything they want and when they don’t get it, it’s off to the new shiney object. It reminds me of when Arnold Schwartenegger ran for governor, all the young people voted for him because he was the “terminator”. Even when he cut the education budgets that affected them personally, they still voted for him. The only thing that saved California was term limits because the stupid would have put him back in office again.
Since I don’t tweet ( I know, I know!) it would be nice if someone could post his tweet in it’s entirety. I have always respected him as an actor, but I was incensed by his comments. It so disgusts me that some in the so-called hip hop generation think that being a gangster and a thug represents being a strong black man. We are so blessed to be led by the epitome of what a strong Black man really is and people like Cheadle are too deluded to see or appreciate it!
Here it is:
Don Cheadle
This is a nice response from Don Cheadle, but what he has to realize that this country is not ready for the “gangsta” of his fantasy. And President Obama would have never been elected if he demonstrated even an ounce of this persona that Cheadle invisions. However, I do agree with him that, “I would have swung” on someone a long time ago.
Thanks H2. No Mr. Cheadle could not be a leader if he would have “swung” at somebody by now. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I will assume he meant that figuratively. Even so, he isn’t paying attention if he thinks President Obama hasn’t done that. Cussing and acting like the stereotype that Cheadle “kinda wants” would have guaranteed this Black President one term. All the things that he expects the President to change in the blink of an eye shows that he still doesn’t have a clue. Superman doesn’t exist and even if he did there is a process to changing LAWS in this country.
Sadly, too many African Americans have bought into the stereotypes that keep us down as a people, akin to adhering to the Willie Lynch syndrome. I thought Cheadle was more enlightened, but I forgot to remind myself that people in show business are better at show business, not politics. Also, after hearing for the past 3 years the complaints of black men about how PBO should “act”, IMnotsoHO, they are projecting onto him, exactly their dilemma here in this country as black men, and that is they are wholly without dominant power, and very often feel frustrated.
🙄
I think Cheadle should leave those types of dreams to the movies he acts in. We live in the real world where no matter what the fuck Obama said or did, the GOP in Congress would not support. “Gangsta” or not.
I’d also suggest he dust of his Schoolhouse Rock copies and view them again.
BIRTHERS, BAGGERS AND BLOWHARDS
Team Obama Pounds Mitt Romney For Pandering To Birthers
===============================================
By going the birther route, the Romney campaign isn’t going to convince the people who already doubt his conservative cred, but they are going to hurt themselves with other voters. Unlike in 2008, the Obama campaign is prepared to deal with the birther nonsense quickly and effectively. Obama has released his long and short form birth certificates. Only the most delusional of Republicans could still possibly believe that the president was not born in this country.
The fact that anybody from the Romney campaign went birther this soon shows that they are getting desperate.

Well I, for one, had maxed out on what I could give this week, but when the Mitt spawn started the birther nonsense, I got so angry, I donated beyond my limit. If others around the country felt that way, the kid may have done the president a big favor–a nice fundraising push close to the deadline.

EPA fines another big business for violating clean air act.
So, today we learn that the ‘front runner’ (though Santorum is a surg’n) has a birther kid and ultraracist Ron Paul receives the cherished KKK endorsement from Granddork david the duke.
Truly, the Party of Lincoln is dead.

WOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO…JUST ORDERED MORE ‘O’ GEAR FOR MY CLOSET…FIRED UP AND READY TO GO! THIS GIRL IS A ‘2012’ FIGHTER! LET ME TELL YOU…IT WON’T BE PERTY!
Lol. More like you, please!
Did you know that in 1994 Mittens asked Tedd Kennedy to release his tax returns?
Hypocrite
GENTLE WORD OF CAUTION:
Recently, I’ve noticed on a few of the MSNBC evening shows like Tweety and Ed, etc (as well as from a few posters here), that some of the MSNBC pundits have been “interviewing” voters in Iowa who supposedly voted for Obama in 2008, but have decided that they will vote for Paul or Romney in 2012.
I have reason to believe that those “interviewees” are either (1) a tiny minority of people who were deliberately selected by MSNBC precisely because of their illogical positions, or (2) MSNBC paid shills as someone else suggested . If MSNBC pundits came across any person or groups of people who had voted GOP in 2008 and are going to vote for PBO in 2012, you bet, those people would not be interviewed on TV or reported about. It’s all about spreading a desired narrative, pushing an agenda…and MSNBC is now in Romney’s boat.
So, I would caution all of us to be skeptical of just about anything reported by any pundit on MSNBC going forward, particularly reports of voter support for Romney relative to our President. MSNBC has close financial ties with Romney’s Bain Capital, which explains a lot of their current pro-Romney propaganda.
Good observation. Do any of these new flip-floppers ever give any specifics as to why they have changed their minds, and will be voting Paul or Romney? Because, anyone who REALLY voted for President Obama wouldn’t be voting for the exact opposite values and policies in either of these two despicable people, if they were genuine. The GOP have nothing to do with the middle class, or solving this country’s problems – and all to do with the rich and lawless.
Or, maybe they are lying?
I used to support the President until…
they want “change”. All I hear is that ‘Barack Obama was so last season and Ron Paul is in.’
As the great Heidi Klum has often repeated: “One day you’re in and the next day you’re out”
I noticed that today, but it is mainly Tweety and Chuck Todd doing that..
Do you know that Tweety is VERY influential at MSNBC? Do you know that Tweety got Phil Donohue fired from NBC after Donahue objected to the Iraq war back in the early 00’s when Tweety was heavily promoting GWB? Tweety threatened that if Donahue was not fired, he(Tweety) was going to “take the entire network down.”
Yep. I believe Bain Capital has part ownership of the Weather Channel.
I said on Twitter last night, that Mittens’ organizers are booking tiny venues and when they are filled to capacity and they have to turn people away they tell the media how thousands of people show up for his events..LOL! They are so pathetic!
And the media is falling in right behind them and reinforcing that crap.
Happily, they can’t hide it forever. A small room is just a small room. I am waiting for Mittens to pay someone in his “huge crowd” to yell out “we love you”
HE’LL NEVER GET 60,000 PEOPLE 🙂
oh wow, so dishonest and pathetic!!!!!!!!!!

No gay marriage – Homosexuality makes me uncomfortable (due to misguided religious influence or poor upbringing or both) so gay people should be punished because of my beliefs. Stoopid homos…
No welfare, food stamps or Medicaid – I’m not poor enough to qualify for these programs so my tax dollars shouldn’t pay for it. Stoopid poor people and by poor I really mean black…
No health care reform – Why should I help pay for other people who are sick when I’m not? Stoopid sick people…
No environmental protection – Environmental laws makes things more expensive for me and that’s bad. I also don’t understand the concept of long term impact; I want cheap gas and gadgets now! Stoopid…ah, you get the idea…
Don’t raise my taxes – EVER. The government can find its own money to pay for stuff.
Medicare – Young conservatives: Why should I help pay for old people and the disabled? Older conservatives: Keep your government hands off my Medicare!
Social Security – Young conservatives: Sacrifices need to be made, people should take care of themselves, not depend on handouts from people like me. Older conservatives: Sacrifices need to be made BUT DON’T YOU TOUCH MY SOCIAL SECURITY!
No abortion – The government should tell women what to do with their bodies because I don’t like abortion.
No prayer in school? – GOVERNMENT OVERREACH!! I like The Jesus™ so everyone should have to listen to my prayers. No Muslim prayers, though. That’s indoctrination.
Chips counter is over 9k and keeps on going up!
She needs 922 to make her goal of 10K. Finger crossed.
Hopefruit, if you go to any place at any time you can find a few people who will be willing to say what you want them to in order to get themselves on tv. In a political situation, the biased interviewer has a point to make so he will make no effort to find an opposing view. Personally, I don’t watch any pre-election coverage because it’s all hyper-ventilating nonsense. If you asked the average person in a grocery store or mall if they were excited about a caucus vote in Iowa, they would think you were nuts. TV pundits are pandering to a largely Republican audience right now and they are cranking up any kind of controversy in order to gin up interest in something that is inherently BORING. I don’t care what some random individual in Iowa says. For everyone of these idiots, we will recruit ten more to support and vote for our president.
I agree with you 100% Jackie! My comment actually relates to a report on the previous thread, some posters apparently took to heart a so-called interview by Tweety Matthews in which the interviewee claimed that she was no longer voting for Obama because if Mitt was elected, all the nastiness would disappear from the political discourse. Another poster suggested that this woman may have been an MSNBC plant, and I agreed so I was just cautioning folks that these are methods used by the media (and this case MSNBC) to spread a certain type of propaganda and that we should be skeptical about the veracity of their reports.
You’re right Hopefruit. It’s funny what people will fall for. The idea that the “nastiness” will disappear when the nastiest of people take over is too goofy for words. They want a reasonable, civil government? Then throw out the tea party reps and replace them with reasonable Democrats. Elect more Democratic Senators and give the president a second term. I guarantee more reasonableness and greater improvement of the economy. I’d dearly love to confront one of these nitwits in person.
Apparently Wolf Blitzer of CNN suggested on TV that President Obama should release his grades if people are demanding that Romney releases his tax returns. WTF? Which president has ever had to release their grades? Romney should have released his tax returns a long time ago, and his releasing them should not be contingent on anything Obama does or doesn’t do.
Wolf Blitzer just pushed Donald Trump’s version of racism.
Off to e-mail my childhood neighbor and remind him some of us know the things he did as a kid.
The media continues to push this undercover racism talking point. What Matt said wasn’t a joke, it’s the same assertion that face many minorities, which is we aren’t smart enough to achieve certain success, so we need to prover how we accomplished our success.
What he said wasn’t a joke and it goes along with Mittens constantly implying that PBO isn’t American, or doesn’t love America, or that he apologizes. Where is the NAACP, the CBC? Why isn’t any one calling out these people on their racism. Romney isn’t just some RW loon, he’s a Presidential candidate.
From what I understand, it’s not the grades that the conservatives want.
One of their investigators found, that at Colimbia part of the International Affairs curriculum, has some Muslim courses.
You see what they really want?
It’s pathetic and profiling!
Has Willard released his grades? What difference does it make what the grades of a sitting POTUS were?
I thought that ALL serious candidates voluntarily releases their tax returns. The only one that did not during 2008 was Sarah Palin because they were not going to win anyway and she knew it.
There is no substance to Mitt. How about Wolf Blitzer releasing his grades, birth certificate, and tax returns. Otherwise he should shut his freaking mouth.
😀
Cup of tea, cup of coffee, glass of wine, delicious dessert, make that a slice of cream pie, and some hot buttered popcorn. And they all can stuff it and leave us alone.
We have military men and women who just returned home and are trying to make the adjustments into the New Year, and we have these fools talking trash about our President? Kiss my behind and leave us alone.
We have much work to help our President finish that W. left and these obstructionists created for POB, so these fools can STHU. HZ.
I tweeted Wolf and asked him just that — WTF!!!

Mitt “Groucho” Romney: “These are my principles. And if you don’t like them, I have others.”
TP: For the record, Romney hasn’t released his birth certificate, grades OR tax returns
There remains apparently some mystery about whether the candidate’s name is Willard Mitt Romney or Willard Milton Romney.
Matt Romney, the 2nd of the five Romney boys, soon tweeted somewhat apologetically: “I repeated a dumb joke. My bad.”
obama-campaign-pounces-on-matt-romney-joke-as-evidence-father-pandering-to-dead-ender-fringe-extremists
At 40 years old, this manchild should know better than to repeat some crass repeatedly debunked remark about our duly elected President’s citizenship, and stop hiding behind empty apologies. He probably and unwittingly just single-handedly defeated his father’s bid for the 2012 Presidency. I hope he will be able to look Mitt in the eye in November after Romney has given his concession speech and say “Oops, my bad.”
Yes, Matt is (a come out the closet) birther–and Willard ain’t too happy…
As Messina said, in a fundraising email, “This is how the Romney campaign thinks it’s going to win the Republican primary: by pandering to the dead-ender fringe of extremists who still question where the President was born. We can’t make them rewrite their talking points. But we can drive up the cost of this kind of politics.”

Tri-Care, DOD’s health insurance program, has historically refused to cover opiate substitution therapy (e.g., buprenorphine, methadone) for military personnel and family members who are addicted to pain killers and/or heroin. Harold Pollack and I wrote about this at length in American Prospect earlier this year, noting in particular that these life saving therapies not being covered is a tragedy and injustice at a time when addiction rates are soaring in the military.
Thankfully, DoD has wisely proposed to change Tri-Care’s insurance coverage for drug addiction treatment. This is a credit to the addiction medicine community who advocated from outside government for the change. It is also one of many reasons why elections matter: Obama-appointed officials in DoD, HHS and the White House drug policy office all pushed hard for this reform. As a result, the 9.6 million current and former military personnel and their families who are covered by Tri-Care will finally have access to evidence-based care for opiate addiction.
It will go on the blog tomorrow, thanks so much for sharing.
This needs to go viral. ASAP
http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/2011/12/30/video-ron-paul-is-unelectable/ The video of LOD/RP is stunning to me
The ad from Huntsman is very good. One thing I notice about RP…if he gets pushed about his position he either walks away or if pushed hard enough, cedes the issue to the questioner. That’s NOT LEADERSHIP!
Dana Bash just said she heard Democrats are going to crossover and vote for Ron Paul, because he is an isolationist.
Oh brother!
dana bash is an idiot talker. She’ll say anything…look, she got YOU to listen! Back away from the idiot box, Jovie…you’ll drive yourself crazy.
Exactly df. And this goes back to my “gentle word of caution” comment above. This is exactly the MSM strategy going forward. To just say anything about democrats supposedly voting for Republicans in order to push their bullshyte propaganda.
Absolutely. About 66 million voted for President Obama in 2008. How many people did Dana Bash talk to. These people are idiots. Stop listening to them and you will be a happier more sane person 🙂
Cross over and vote in the primary? I can see that happening. But Paul ain’t getting near the general unless he runs as a third party.
Then they are not true Democrats.
Or, I hope, they are being mischievous. When John McCain ran for president against Bush, me and many other Democrats in Michigan crossed over and voted for McCain to embarass our hated Republican governor, John Engler, who publicly boasted that Michigan would be W.’s firewall and he could count on our state’s support. McCain won Michigan which embarrassed Gov. Engler but unfortunately did not stop W.
Also, at the time McCain was still a “maverick.”
Jovie,
Please, must your minute by minute reporting of cable news garbage always be drama, drama, drama? The answer to most of your posts is generally, WHO CARES?! It’s bad enough that cable “news” is filled with such useless info because they have to do something with their 24/7 schedule but it drives me nuts to have to filter through it here. I’m trying to be nice but I don’t know if I can take your drama filled reporting of what every idiot says on the teevee for another 11 months. Many of us choose to read blogs and read the news on the internet to get away from exactly that. It’s clear that their chatter is only to create hysteria and drama and get the faithful hanging in for when they return from their corporate sponsored commercials.
Thank you for saying what I’ve been wanting to say for some time now. Because I am relatively new here, I try to refrain from voicing such opinions but I must say that you have clearly articulated my feelings on this subject.
Thankyou Foruso5. I have confronted Jovie before, but was told to chill on the moderating that Chips herself will take care of it. It does get frustrating to continue to filter thru jovie’s hysteria news links. I come here to avoid the constant Rightwing and Emoprog propoganda from the MSM not get more of it.
As you know Keith, my issue was never about you arguing with Jovie, it was the condescending and insulting way you did it – “drama Queen”, “young lady”, etc, etc. I deleted another one tonight. I’m running out of patience here, any more of this and, sorry, you’ll have to find another blog.
Jovie? I love ya, but you know we’ve had our run-ins about this before. Please don’t bring this crap here, if we want to be demoralized there are plenty of places for us to go.
This is in response to Don Cheadle’s comments. I modified it and retweeted it to him.
I replied to Don also. He tried to walk back his comment, but I told him I wasn’t buying. I named several accomplishments of the President and asked how much more gangster did he have to be? I also tweeted him a question: Is this the message we want to give young men – they need to be more gangster?
Body slammed !! Cheadle should have his little peanut head slapped by his elders 😀
GANGSTA 4REALZ….THAT IS WHAT I CALL COURAGE AND CONVICTION!!!!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!!!!!!!!
New post everyone:

😉
Today, in a event in Iowa, Ron Paul slammed the President snd his scary secret drones.
Ooooooo- scary.
And Chris Hayes did this last night on Rachel, too.
You see? Half of msnbc is for Mittens and 3 liberal newscaster are for Ron Paul.
All we got, is the good Reverand!
So did Newt today try to replicate the Hillary NH 2008 tears episode? Hmmm…
I’m keeping an eye on Tweety. We all know that he LOVES this birtherism stuff, never misses an opportunity to discuss at length whenever someone even hints that they might be engaging in birtherism – jokingly or seriously. So let’s see if Tweety uses his opportunity to jump on Matt Romney’s recent oops….if not, then we KNOW that Tweety is getting hush money from Bain Capital via MSNBC somehow.
Sorry, Donna Dem and Chips. My little bit of money is so precious right now, but I had to respond to my FLOTUS this round and donated directly to PBO’s site. Hope to do you good next round. Keep up the good work 😀
Hi Chips and Donna Dem I donated to both of your sites, this will have to be it for a couple of months, I am looking for a place to live and need all my cash, but glad to help you all out tonight. Yes We can Do More. I am In. for Obama/Biden 2012
