We are the media we’ve been waiting for. Way to go Chips, and fellow TODers!

In that regard, a bit from Osborne Ink:

This is the most encouraging possible transition for Occupy protests to make. Decamping the parks and bivouacking in the front yards of fraudulent-foreclosure victims brings the activism right to Main Street, USA, where the 99% live:

There will be some OWS’rs who won’t be happy until they can blame PBO for the fascist police state unleashed on them. But I’d like to think there is a significant majority of them who have their hearts in the right place, and may soon put their minds and efforts there as well.

The rest of the story is here: http://www.osborneink.com/2011/12/occupy-for-the-little-guy.html

Isonprize, I think it was the ’60s that turned ol’ Ronnie Raygun. He and Charleston Heston thought the Dems were getting too liberal with the civil rights, gun control, women’s rights, etc.

And congrats Super Chips! Thanks for all you do for the TOD family! Love ya! 🙂 🙂 🙂

You know what, I’d heard that too, but he and Heston both did write about how the Democratic Party had become too liberal for them. So, it probably was a combo of things, losers!

I tried to donate from overseas through a friend (who is an American but living in NZ now) to try and donate using his details……… but he didn’t know his SSN and something else that was required of him (can’t remember what it was, as he’s been living in NZ for 10yrs now) So I can appreciate what some people from overseas (wishing to donate) are feeling 🙂

    Popcorn anyone?

Donald Trump laced into Karl Rove with conservative radio host Laura Ingraham today, pushing back on “Bush’s Brain” for comments he’s made about The Donald in recent months.

“Frankly, I know a lot more than a lot of the so-called pundits that you read about; Karl Rove as an example,” Trump said, according to a transcript.

“What did he do? He gave you Bush and he and Bush crashed and burned and to be honest Laura nobody could have won that election in all fairness to John McCain because of what took place during the Bush administration and that was Karl Rove.”

He also pointed out that he gave money, by request, to one of Rove’s political groups in the past, adding, “What it shows is a bad person. It shows that, you know you don’t come up and ask for something and then go and attack somebody. I mean I gave him that…what it shows is a character flaw.”

Trump has once again become something of a pivot point in the GOP primary, much as he was earlier in the race over birtherism, in no small part thanks to his ability to thrust himself into the news.

But there is also a segment of the GOP electorate that agrees with his sentiments about the Bush administration, and about the Republican establishment.

As for Jon Huntsman, who made a crack about not kissing any part of Trump’s anatomy, he said, “I think it is sort of a disgusting statement and you know I am surprised that it comes out of his mouth.”

      Trump and his thin skin.

    • December 6, 2011 at 10:14 pm

T-Rumphole knows all about character flaws and is compelled to hypocritically quack about what he finds lacking in others. And, if there is nothing to complain about he makes shite up.. like searching for a birth certificate that’s already found.

trump’s face is frozen in disgust.

One of the most gratifying things I ever saw was a video clip of a Scottish farmer that would not sell his land to Trump for one of his golf courses or something. He talked about what he “really” thought of Trump’s offer and his methods. It was beautiful.

Congratulation Chips and the TOD Family. Chips I am thankful for all you do for us, providing a place to get information about the President, sending him much love and support.

I too received my Xmas card from the White House. When I get paid on the 16th, I will donate to Chips, OFA and the many charities that help feed people during the holidays. Peace to all!

    • December 6, 2011 at 8:41 pm

JoJo – I was thinking about donations today, too. There are so many people who are still stuck in the recession, even though many more are able to spend a little. It would be nice to donate to local charities or smaller ones that might not get as much publicity or name recognition – although the big ones are important, too. I was thinking maybe people could share their favourite charities, and raise awareness. Everyone can share in the improving economy, if we all give a little. Of course, money isn’t always the only way to give – food, clothing, time – all useful. I also give small or monthly donations to a couple of favourite liberal blogs – since I can’t donate.

I give to Salvation Army (clothes, shoes, household appliances that still work). Easier to buy new stuff if I give away old stuff first.
I donate to http://www.losangelesmission.org, http://www.directrelief.org and http://www.oneworldhealth.org – in addition to some one-off donations through the year.

Would love to hear about other worthy causes.

      • December 6, 2011 at 8:43 pm

I’ve decided to give all the organizations that ask for money $10-$15. That way I can do the most good with the money that I have.

        Theo
Giving donations to charities invites you to be contacted by a lot of nuisance calls and mail solicitations. They do not quit and they are relentless in their harassment. I would be very hesitant to get on some one else’s list. You have to resort to blocking telephone numbers to get the communication to cease.

      • December 6, 2011 at 10:52 pm

This year I’m going to organize a clothing drive for homeless youth–whose numbers are increasing. Also going to make a push next year to provide “survival items” in the form of backpacks, personal hygiene products, hand sanitizers and anything else that may come in handy.

My 18 year old nephew just recently got his license, he told me that he also register to vote, and I ask him can we count on that vote being for President Obama? He said of course. Michele Bachmann was left speechless after an awkward encounter with a young activist named Elijah at a South Carolina book signing.

As seen in the below video, the Republican candidate and Tea Party darling greeted the soft-spoken 8-year-old and his mother at a meet-and-greet event for her new book, “Core of Conviction: My Story,” which was released last month.

“My mommy — Miss Bachmann, my mommy’s gay but she doesn’t need fixing,” Elijah said to Bachmann, after some lighthearted coaxing. A dumbfounded Bachmann then shot the boy’s mother an icy look before the pair walked away.

It’s a HuffPuff piece, but TPM has it as well here: http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/12/watch-8-year-old-confront-bachmann-on-homosexuality.php

    • 74 nintendowii10
      December 6, 2011 at 8:47 pm

It’s shameful that the mother exploited her kid for a political point. Bachmann’s crazy and all, but this was just pure shameful on behalf of the mother… why didn’t she tell CrazyEyes herself as opposed to sending her son to do it for her?

      • 75 LOL
        December 6, 2011 at 8:56 pm

Yeah..I was going to post that…but decided not to. I know Bachmann is one of the crazies but this was taking it way too far. I read a story on abcnews about it. The mom was going to say something, but got too nervous, and wanted to leave. Elijah, the little boy, tugged on his mom’s coat and made them stay.

            December 7, 2011 at 12:50 am

I do think that I might have been a bit more protective of my son. I don’t think I would want him to know that there are people like Bachman out there, at least not until he was a little older.

          • 78 nospin
            December 7, 2011 at 11:21 am

I did not see encouragement. I see a mother sending a child to do her business. I think she prompted him at home and then again when he saw Bachmaan.

That was wrong on so many levels. You don’t send your child to do your business.

My first question was, “Have you met a president? If so, who was your favorite one?” He answered “George Washington and I’ve met Nixon, Carter, Ford, Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2, Obama, and of course, myself. I’m not a president yet. But with your help, I could be.”

Rachel is actually praising Obama for his speech??? That’s different. I do love the clips she’s showing where it shows the audience responding with spontaneous standing Os at different key points in the speech. Anyone know the source of that full view of the speech?

      December 6, 2011 at 9:18 pm

Rachel…….until next time. Sigh ! I’m watching c-span online and noticed the standing ovates as well.

    • December 6, 2011 at 9:21 pm

I watched BriWi for the first time in a long time to see how they’d play it. Of course they brought Chuckie on to give us his in-depth analysis. UGH. They were OK but really didn’t give the proper set-up or implications for what this means to most people. But I must say they did a pretty good hatchet job on Newt!

  51. December 6, 2011 at 9:19 pm

WASHINGTON–Yoga pants. Hoodies. Wine and Martini glasses. Kids apparel. Cat and dog collars. Basketball shirts. Spatulas. An apron that says “Fired up and ready to grill,” a wry reference to the famous Barack Obama campaign slogan.
When it comes to raising money off of campaign merchandise, President Obama’s team is taking its cues from top marketers, outflanking the GOP competition with a wide variety of innovative branded products. While all the 2012 White House hopefuls sell “official” t-shirts, mugs and buttons, neither Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, Michelle Bachman nor Ron Paul in their on-line shops offer the variety of merchandise stocked in the Obama store.
And new for the 2012 campaign, the Obama team is not only selling stuff –all made in the U.S.– on-line, the team also produced a print catalog that could rival Lands End or J. Crew. The smiling model on the catalog cover wearing 2012 Obama gear is Rufus Gifford, Obama’s National Finance Director.

Political fund-raising comes in many forms–exclusive dinners with a candidate or a top surrogate for major donors, direct mail and on-line appeals, lower cost rallies and receptions and the sale of merchandise. Each merchandise “sale” is a campaign donation with the product really a premium for the contributor.

    • December 6, 2011 at 9:23 pm

A print catalog? Wowie!! Some of that stuff seems kinda out there but the majority of it is great.

    • December 6, 2011 at 10:18 pm

I love that they’re doing this. How many people on street corners and in the media made money off of President Obama in 2007/8? And his campaign didn’t see any of that money. If anyone’s going to make money off of it – why not give the money directly to the campaign? Brilliant!

Got my hoodie today—and I’m very happy about it.

  52. December 6, 2011 at 9:21 pm

WASHINGTON–First Lady Michelle Obama’s Chief of Staff Tina Tchen hits Chicago Wednesday for fund-raisers benefiting the Obama re-election drive at her former law firm and at the home of long-time friend and early Obama backer Marilyn Katz.
Tchen appears at Skadden Arps–where she had been a partner– in the afternoon and then heads over to Lincoln Park for the event co-hosted by Katz, Bettylu Saltzman who holds an important place in Obama history, attorney Paul Levy and Steven Koch, a vice-chairman and co-chairman of Credit Suisse’s Merger and Acquisitions Group.
Saltzman is the Democratic activist who years ago spotted a young Barack Obama as a comer and told political consultant David Axelrod he should meet with Obama. In March, Obama appointed Koch a member of the Recovery Independent advisory board.
Donations for the Katz event range from $500 to $5,000.

Interesting story of a woman from Ventura CA who went to the Occupy Congress event. I hope whoever runs against this guy in 2012 uses this story to nail him.

    Everbody say, “AWWWWWW”…

    http://politicalwire.com/archives/2011/12/06/presidential_race_hurting_republicans.html

A new Pew Research poll finds that as the fight for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination unfolds, more Americans say their impression of the GOP field is worsening than improving.

By a margin of two-to-one, 31% say that their impression of the GOP field is getting worse as they learn more about the candidates, while 14% says it’s getting better. Another 50% say their impression remains the same.

    Hi PrayerWarrior ,

Did you see my comment to you yesterday about trying to get in touch with you while you were in Trinidad? I tried my utmost contacting the hotel and Ministry of Education but they each wanted a name which I did not have and there were four females in your delegation. Better luck next time

    Hi socasweet

I missed your comment yesterday. I went several times daily to the reception desk and asked if a message was left for the delegate from Montserrat and each time I was given a negative response. However, I know we will find a way to connect because we both support a leader who is decent, honest and caring; who is simply the best.
