The dude’s an ignoramus. He’s protesting the 1% yet he’s in the music industry where record executives manage his career. Isn’t that the definition of the 1%? Attention seekers are pathetic.

I just read about that on TP. The Hawaiian guitarist had performed previously at the WH. But he decided to be a hero to the OWS movement at this event and unbuttoned his shirt to show off his OWS tshirt and sang 45 minutes worth of protest songs. He was real proud of himself. I didn’t like the deception of it and selfishly taking advantage of the opportunity likely provided by the WH.

What made me angry is President Obama is on the side of OWS! Its like preaching to the choir. That level of deception is mind blowing. He thought it was funny, but I have a feeling he will pay for that.

I don’t know whether President Obama is on the side of OWS because I don’t know exactly what they stand for. They sound like a bunch of entitled and hypocritical Libertarians who only got upset with corporate employees donating to political candidates when they realized that the first Black President benefited from something that all 43 white Presidents before him had been receiving.

Bravo, hopefruit, for your fearlessness in telling the TRUTH! Unfortunately, very few people in both government and private businesses I can understand the idiocy of the teabag-Republicans. What I can’t understand is the viciousness of the so called leftist progressives who are so angry at the President and are doing everything in their power to make it possible for a teabag-Republican to win the presidency in 2012. What is even more amazing, is that many of the Obama haters strongly supported Bill Clinton, despite his triangulating policies that caved in to right wing policies. I challenge any of the Bill Clinton supporters to show me why they oppose this President. I challenge them to show me how Bill Clinton’s proposals and nominees, were continuously subjected to filibuster that always required 60 Senate votes to votes for cloture in order to advance legislation.

hope speaks for me…it has been a mess here in Oakland. The media is not showing what has really been going on…our downtown has been held hostage. My grandmother’s caregiver’s doctor appointment was canceled twice…they are waiting to reschedule her. One of my best friends son is a host at one of the nicer restraurants…he is a full-time college student working part-time and depends on the tips…no diners no tips…he is certainly in the 99%! And let me tell you about the filth….used needles, used condoms, feces thrown all over the place, urine odor everywhere, trash, trash, trash and RATS, dogs and unsupervised kids running around all day and night, sick people (coughing, snotting, sneezing), parties, fights and of course the murder that happened last Thursday. I was never on board with the OWS movement, but now I am just through/done with them and our mayor (who by the way I did not vote for)…everybody say RECALL! People can’t wait to sign the petition for her recall. She throw the City Manager and the Police Chief under the bus…so now they not only don’t have respect for her, but they are speaking up and out about her. It is a MESS!!!!!!!!

This is the mess Philadelphia’s Mayor Nutter is now complaining about. These clowns are trying to hold up a construction project employing 1000 people, not to mention the overtime of police manpower to keep things orderly. There was even a report of a sexual assault last night. I am so glad I had the forethought never to be on board with them. I cannot follow a train wandering through a desert, with no end in sight.

This so-called Makana seems more concerned with attention for himself than any cause. It is time for marchers and occupiers to go through the political process to create change, if they can ever decide what they want. They can learn a lesson from the people of Ohio and Wisconsin.

So on your last “Just Sayin” pic of the Gingriches (WTF?) and the Obamas….I did a bit background on Callista…..can you believe she is ONLY 45. And Michelle is 47…Lord knows women age differently, but clearly by the tightness of Callista’s smile, you can tell she’s got some botox injections going on…..PSA: Natural beauty trumps doctored beauty any day of the week.

If Callista is 45 so am I (not) And if she really is 45 she has wasted a lot of money on the botox or whatever work she has had done, it has aged her. She looks like a woman in her 50s trying to look 45. I agree that natural looks better any time.

I feel a little sorry for the husbands of Australia’s PM and Chancellor Merkel who have to follow the female spouses to teas and other girly activities. The world has changed; there are female heads of state in the four corners of the world. Surely the men can be accommodated in a more appropriate way ( I’ll bet he would rather be surfing) or better, that everyone can ditch teas and do something more fun and physical. Hawaii and the other places where these events are held have so much more to offer to show off the various countries and to engage the visitors.

Michelle looks as gorgeous as ever. Is that an Hawaiian print? If so, she has wedded tradition with a modern cut and style.

    • November 13, 2011 at 6:27 pm

I’m thinking your comment just a tiny bit sexist. If the wives have to do the “girly” stuff, why not the husbands? LOL, the men did not look a bit unhappy to be in the company of some beautiful women.

        November 13, 2011 at 7:41 pm

Male partners of powerful females are an oddity. However, now there are TW0 (and high profile ones) at these meetings, it begins to look a little less odd. The magic number is 5. In a group the size of the G-20, it will take at least five women (in this case) for their presence to not be odd. In a meeting like APEC, 5 men will change the sorts of events planned for spouses/partners.

A minority of five is big enough not to look strange.

Though I thought Tim Mathieson looked to be having a FINE time.

    • November 13, 2011 at 8:13 pm

Ceb, You make a good point about going easy on the ‘tea’ klatsches. There are indeed other, more interesting, choices now available which might not have been the case when the ‘teas’ got started – choices that may be more unisex.

Interesting story about Mathieson, boyfriend of the Australian Prime Minister. He has an interesting past. He met her when she was a client in a salon where he worked as a hairdresser. In the photo where he’s showing off his cowboy boots, I think he’s asking Michelle if she would like a pair like his. Maybe he could arrange for PBO to pick up a pair for her while he’s visiting Australia. I think Mathieson enjoys the FL, as seems to be the case with all who meet her in person.

Hey guys, GOPolitico has another lie piece up saying some Dems won’t commit to supporting President Obama. Sanders, the usual Blue Dog suspects and Lieberman (so who cares) but I thought we should just be aware so we can hit these Dems and the DSCC and DCCC. No donations if any of their members don’t support the president.

Won’t link to that rag, but here’s a snippet:

Others, including Reps. Tim Holden and Jason Altmire of Pennsylvania, Ben Chandler of Kentucky, Jim Costa of California, Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Jim Matheson of Utah, Mike McIntyre of North Carolina and Michael Michaud of Maine, declined repeated requests for comment on whether they will stump for the president or even support him in 2012.

OMG Proud I missed your comment by a few minutes because I was posting the same thing. The truth is, I don’t know whether I can even trust Politico and furthermore, it’s interesting that they used Lieberman and Sanders as their primary “examples” when these two probably never supported Obama (It is a known fact that Lieberman endorsed John McCain).

It’s interesting that 2 months before the Republican primary, John Boehner and many prominent Republicans cannot decide who they want to endorse yet Politico is focused on two Independents and some racist Democrats who probably never supported PBO. If they had mentioned Harry Reid or Pelosi then I would be concerned. PBO doesn’t need no backstabbing Democrat supporting him anyway. Let them campaign for Rick Perry and see how far it will get them.

      • November 13, 2011 at 6:56 pm

No problem, hope. I don’t trust Politico either, but we do know that Pres has had to fight these stupid Blue Dogs and Sanders ever since he’s been in office. We do know they didn’t stand up for health care and what the Dems had achieved in 2010. I say we call their bluff. Push back at them with everything we got. Like I said, DSCC and DCCC will hear from me again about why I will not donate. I already gave them an earful about using Carville to raise money. Can’t stand that jealous traitor.

We got PBO elected in 2008 without them, and we will get him reelected.

Speaking of Cain and pants—–thought this was an interesting piece in NYT Magazine about the strange phenomenon that is Herman Cain. About his healthy regard of self, the confounding reality that he’s still standing (altho less tall) after a series of blunders/failings which would have been fatal with any other candidate etc. “…to say that Herman Cain has an imperfect grasp of policy would be unfair to not only George W. Bush in 1999 but also to Britney Spears in 1999”. “…seems like someone who, quite frankly, has never opened a newspaper.” And still he has die-hard supporters, which is almost impossible to explain.

Okay, I don’t know a lot about the others, but I can tell you about Tim Holden, a blue dog in a Republican district. Holden will go along to get along, but he would never “stump” for any Democrat and he would “as usual” be afraid to show any support for PBO in this area. Holden has to hide the fact that he’s a Democrat to get elected. He will vote with the Dems on anything that’s safe, but won’t take a risk if he thinks someone will criticize him. He doesn’t like Pelosi either. On the other hand, he’s the only Democrat who will ever get elected by his district because he makes Republicans feel “comfortable.” SO his support or lack of stumping for PBO is meaningless in the context Politico is using it. I suspect we’re talking about a group of conservatives in red areas who will not now nor have they ever rocked the boat.

Politico has their latest anti-Obama article titled “Some Democrats refuse to Back Obama” but first name Independents Joe Lieberman (who supported McCain in 2008), and Bernie Sanders (emoprog) and some other obsure conservadem as the prime examples of the DEMOCRATS who refuse to Back Obama. oooooooooooooooooh….bet Obama’s shaking scared in his boots…..

…And just like the sky is blue…POLITICO comes out with a negative story on the Prez ” Some Democrats don’t back Obama” And they show a picture of Bernie Sanders (who is not even a Democrat, but I digress).

. One of the things that I have found about Politico, is that everytime I make the mistake of reading one of their stories…I feel dumber and I never learn anything. Now, I don’t know if you have been alive for the past three years, but when the Dems had the majority…I don’t quite remember it being a cakewalk for the Prez. The Stimulus, Health Care, Financial Regulation, all of these items had to be re-configured because some random DEM wanted to be famous for the week and get a glowing profile on POLITICO and Morning Joke. And it was the DEMS that voted alongside the REPUBS to not close GITMO

President Obama had majorities in the House and Senate for about a nanosecond. The emoprogs and the media always conveniently forget that fact. They also forget that Blue Dog Democrats were a thorn in the president side. GOPolitico is desperate for some negative news. They just can’t help themselves. They are like the TMZ of political blogs. Lots of tabloid trash and very little real news.

And Yahoo uses FOX NEWS articles for everything…I detest these people. If I had 40 seconds to waste…I could do a google search and find at least 10 of these “Dems leave Obama” stories from Politico. I honestly just don’t give a fark about these congresspeople…the only ones that matter are the REAL people…you know regular Americans.

And I read a story (WashPo or NYT) that tried to extrapolate a lesson from a town of less than 2K who voted for a new mayor recently. It was a small town in Alabama, 52-48 % white to black, and the incumbent black mayor lost to the white rich guy (840 votes to 730 votes). And some of the white/republican townfolk were saying hopefully the same thing would happen in D.C. The real kicker is the justification of the article….because the town is named Washington…and you know Barack Obama lives in Washington..and he’s also black…..and he will run a against a rich white guy. So enough similarities and viola…we gotz us a story.

Obama seeks US jobs, aims to boost regional ties at Pacific Rim summit in Hawaiian home state
    Text Size PrintE-mailReprints
By Associated Press, Updated: Sunday, November 13, 6:32 PM

KAPOLEI, Hawaii — President Barack Obama on Sunday tied the hopes of a faster American economic recovery to the booming Pacific Rim region, saying “we’re not going to be able to put our folks back to work” unless the Asia-Pacific region is successful as an engine for the world.

“We consider it a top priority,” Obama said of the region where his administration is pouring in time and political capital to expand exports and business ties.

Ok, I have been on Don Lemon’s case about the “LAZY” comment and he has sent me a tweet denying it. Since I don’t watch CNN Jovie reported the News and I tweeted with outrage non stop until he replied me saying the person who started the rumor on twitter apologized and Don Lemon never said it.

    • 134 hopefruit2
      November 13, 2011 at 7:10 pm

After Kasai apologized, Jovie insisted that Lemon did in fact make a comment to that effect on his show when he had TJ holmes on. I will check the CNN archives and see if that’s accurate.

I am inclined to believe Jovie because I have seen Mr. Lemon himself repeat and allow pundits/guests to make inaccurate statements about PBO on his show. So it’s not a stretch for him to have personally made or allowed that “lazy” comment. The funny thing is that he seems so outraged that anyone dare accuse him of making statements that he claims he didn’t make, yet he works for a network that repeatedly and openly distorts reports and allows Republicans and PL to LIE about our President without any acknowledgment or apologies.

The reporters were saying it would be a snub to the PM who had important business to discuss with PBO – such as the fate of the Canadian tar-sand oil pipeline.

CNN is once again allowing Mitt Romney to get away with LIES: CNN supposedly fact-checked Romney’s claim that repealing the ACA would save 95 billion by 2016. CNN concluded that Romney is correct because according to CNN:

// The facts: Repeal of the Affordable Care Act, referred to by some critics as Obamacare, would indeed cut federal spending by about $95 billion in 2016, according to the Congressional Budget Office, the non-partisan research arm of Congress. //

    http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/11/13/cnns-truth-squad-takes-on-gop-debate-2/?
    utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fcnn_politicalticker+%28Blog%3A+Political+Ticker%29

HOWEVER, CNN and Romney’s campaign conveniently leave out key details — and as noted by think progress:

// They pointed us to a Congressional Budget Office analysis of the GOP’s repeal bill, which does find on page 5 that eliminating the law would reduce federal spending by $95 billion in 2016. But page 6 of the same document also notes that the government would lose substantially more in revenue — $219 billion over the period of 2012 to 2016 — resulting in an increase to the budget deficit of $85 billion. Overall, repealing the law would “cause a net increase in federal budget deficits of $210 billion over the 2012-2021 period,” the CBO found. //

I love this website and I love our first family. FLOTUS looks gorgeous and our President always looks good. It looks like everyone is having fun at this event. I just have a comment on the OWS protests. I totally support our President and I absolutely support OWS. I believe if you could sum up what they stand for it’s this: We are sick and tired of the financial interests buying our government and therefore buying economic policies that benefit them to the detriment of everyone else. Too many people have lost their jobs, their homes, and have faced daunting medical bills during a health crisis. And unfortunately Washington is not paying attention to the people, only to their corporate masters. So although there are bound to be some bad apples in the group for the most part they are reasonable people. I believe the movement as a whole would support our President and Congressional leaders that work to repeal Citizens United and enact regulations on the financial sector that will prevent another financial meltdown like we’ve been experiencing. Reinstating taxes on the “1%” would be a great start. I really think the movement has galvanized people who otherwise feel they have no voice. It’s also galvanized the unions. My union is planning a rally for jobs with our local Occupy group. And because of this nationwide, and even worldwide, movement the President and Democrats really have the wind at their backs as champions of the people.

  59. November 13, 2011 at 9:02 pm

Thank you kasai. I know the President has had this on the agenda but he can’t do it alone and I think he needs people to start thinking and talking about just how influential the financial interests have been. One thing the movement has accomplished is now we’re not talking about deficits so much as wealth inequality. The conversation has changed and it’s a change that favors the President.

      • 232 Walking_on_ Sunshine
        November 13, 2011 at 9:51 pm

I’m glad that you are supporting the President and overall the conversation has changed in favor of the President and the Democratic agenda. I do think there are a sizeable number of Ron Paul supporters involved in OWS who are trying to turn young people against the President. The protestors need to get out and vote because we all know that it’s the GOP who are 90% responsible for the corporate takeover of the government. I hope that people like you who are fully supportive of both President Obama and OWS will be the ones who have the greatest influence in the end. I am as big a flip flopper as Mitt Romney when it comes to OSW because I change my mind about it every day. I see something I love about it and then I see something I really don’t like at all. But in the end I do relate and sympathize with the complaints and grievances of the protestors. So I thank you for what you are doing as a union member and as a positive influence on the OSW movement.

I appreciate the kind words Walking_on_Sunshine. I know what you mean about the Ron Paul supporters. I haven’t seen any at a rally but I do see them on FB. Most people seem to ignore them and many times the organizers themselves say they support no candidate. I was at a rally where Cindy Sheehan was speaking and criticizing the President for the wars. I started booing as did someone else. Then I said I support the President and left it at that. I understand wanting an end to the wars but give me a break. Focus your anger where it belongs. With this many people in the movement I don’t think you’ll ever get 100% agreement so I just show up when I feel I want to participate and voice my opinions as best I can. I’ve thankfully seen many Obama supporters as well.

PBO changed the conversation from deficits to jobs and taxing millionaires when he introduced the American Jobs Act. OWS started their protests after the conversation had already been changed by PBO.

I’m not disagreeing with you L3 but the media never plays along with PBO. So he can talk about jobs all he wants but if the media only talks about deficits, people aren’t getting the message. When we had large groups of citizens all around the country rallying in their cities, that’s what changed the media talking points. I support the President 100% but he can’t be the only one trying to change the conversation. Just as it may take a village, it takes a nation not just 1 President. Not every aspect OWS is good but there are many good aspects and if we can focus on those and amplify those perhaps we can diminish the negative.

Michelle is stunning. I love the dress. I love the scenery. I love the joking around with the PM of Australia’s boyfriend! I love reading all your comments, especially when I find out juicy tidbits like the PMs boyfriend is her hairdresser – now there’s a handy man to have around. 🙂

One of these days I would love to visit Hawaii. Don’t know if it will ever happen but it’s a desire close to my heart. Michelle looks so relaxed and happy. She is just glowing. Happy days!

This place is indeed a plethora of information. Hmmmm wonder if the Aussie PM’s partner is showing FLOTUS the newest ‘cowboy’ Uggs. FLOTUS is looking so radiant – Hawaii is now on my bucket list.
